why am I thinking about Alby and George?

George being the second Glader to come up in the Box.

Alby being relieved to know he's not alone. Alby recognizing the loud buzzing of the Box as it comes up - maybe even panicking at the haunting sound. George being a breath of fresh air. Or maybe he's a pain in the ass.

Alby finally works up the courage to venture out into the Maze with George by his side. Alby encountering his first Griever with George. Alby and George bolting home the moment they see the Griever, collapsing on each other in the Glade, gasping for air.

Talking about their fates together. Lying down on the soft Glade grass and staring up at the night sky, chatting with one another. George says maybe they're in here as some kind of sick punishment. Alby thinks there's no way someone like George would do something to deserve this, but all he says is "Maybe."

George pulls Alby to his feet one night. Builds himself a giant bonfire of sticks because he thinks it looks cool. When Alby points out the complete waste of time, he tosses a torch onto the bonfire and tells him to "lighten up." George drags Alby up by the wrists and starts dancing with him. It's a very one-sided dance, but George makes do. Alby gets more and more into it. Starts off as them jumping around the bonfire, giggling. Ends with them slow-waltzing to a beat that only they know, their foreheads pressed together.

#do I know who George is? absolutely the fuck not! we got literally one line about him in Scorch Trials and a tombstone in Maze Runner #won't stop be from having full-on headcanons about him.
