#Anti Ableist
Text
The fuck is up with abled people and thinking that using or having a mobility aid makes us weak? Or that our goal should be to not use them? Why can’t they just accept that using mobility aids is not a bad thing and that we use them because they help and give us more freedom? My mobility aids enable me to do so much more than I can without them and my goal is not to get rid of them or not use them or whatever my goal is to have the ability to do what I want and be independent and not be in excruciating pain. Maybe at some point I wont need my mobility aids but right now I do so idk about other disabled people but stop telling me to try to not use something that makes my quality of life so much better and stop telling me to get better soon I’m just trying my best and the fact people don’t see that is really disheartening just because I don’t fit what someone thinks i should look like or be doing to “get better” doesn’t mean they should feel free to tell me their opinions on my body and what I do to accommodate myself
Honestly this started out as a rant about ableist bullshit regarding mobility aids but it definitely applies to so much else like neurotypicals complaining about how I accommodate my autism and telling me to “just be normal” and other shit like that.
It definitely applies to more than what I’ve said here but goddamn it abled people stop policing disabled bodies and minds, stop trying to control us, stop thinking you know our bodies better than we do
Tl;dr: abled people need to stop with their bullshit and leave disabled people and their tools and accommodations and self accommodations alone. Abled people believe they know our bodies better than we do and that’s simply not true.

okay my moot moots say it with me
We do not fully understand how the human brain works. We do not fully comprehend how plurality works.
You do not have to explain your mental illness to anyone. It's none of their business. You do not have to be traumatized to be a system. Being a non-traumagenic system does not mean you're faking it.
Willogenic systems are valid. Tulpa systems are valid.
Parogenic systems are valid. Protogenic systems are valid.
ENDOGENIC. SYSTEMS. ARE. VALID. WE DO NOT SUPPORT ABLEISM IN ANY FORM.
SAYING THAT A PERSON IS FAKING BEING A SYSTEM WITHOUT ANY PROOF IS ABLEIST.
THE ONLY PERSON WHO KNOWS WHAT YOU'RE GOING THROUGH IS YOU.

Remember, guys. Becoming disabled to be more like someone else is never a good idea, especially when we love you for being you! Please remember you're perfect just the way you are, and you don't have to change to comply with us.
Just be yourself, we love you!

"the reading comprehension on this website is piss-"
Actually "reading comprehension" is a bullshit ableist metric to determine how much you can think like a Neurotypical™ aka the same as everyone else. Different interpretations/ways of thinking are vital to a healthy society, hope that helps <3

Hey I came here from your old blog because I have a question (also followed, love your stuff ❤️) I only just learned about the concept of saneism (how I found your blog) and I'm a bit ashamed to admit that it never occurred to me that the use of -phobic for discriminatory groups is ableist. Now that its been pointed out its blatantly obvious to me and I want to apologize for using it so much in the past.
Anyway, my question is what are some of the suggested alternatives? I tried googling and scrolling through your blogs but I couldn't find anything so I wanted to know your perspective. I talk about lgbt stuff a lot and I want to help raise awareness for this issue and do my part to prevent ableism.
Thanks in advance!
thank you for asking!
i tend to use either -misia/-misic (e.g. jk rowling and her supporters are transmisics, transmisia is on the rise, the german government is being transmisic) or anti- (e.g. antitransness is on the rise, the german government is being antitrans (this is already commonly used with regards to laws in the usa, so i do not understand why more people are not already using it /not at you))
there is also -antagonism/-antagonist/-antagonistic (e.g. jk rowling and her supporters are transantagonists, transantagonism is on the rise, the german government is being transantagonistic)
or -negative/-negativity (e.g. transnegativity is on the rise, the german government is being transnegative)
or -hate (i guess this only works as a noun, e.g. trans-hate is on the rise)
or you can use different terms altogether, so instead of homomisia you could say heterosexism, instead of bimisia you could say monosexism, instead of transmisia you could say cissexism, instead of intermisia you could say perisexism, instead of amisia you could say allosexism, instead of nonbinarymisia you could say exorsexism etc.
or you could just describe it as "bigotry/oppression against x group".
there are probably some that i am forgetting too.
most people recommend -misia because it mostly functions like the -phobia endings and people, including me, find the switch more easy, but it is really up to you.

I literally got diagnosed with ASPD a month ago and I am already exhausted of trying to educate ableists.
It's one thing to help destigmatize a disorder you only think you have, but it's a lot more emotional labor when you know the terrible things they're saying are aimed at you.
Might need to take a break on trying to educate ableists and just start blocking them for a while again. Idk.

mini rant
some people are so “dedicated” to fighting against ableism but will still use “insane”, “psychotic”, “crazy”, “schizophrenic”, “bipolar”, or any other word that with direct connotations to SMIs and/or MNS conditions as an insult or othering term like it’s nothing

Hate to sound like a borderline sysmed but why the fuck are there bitches who want DID/OSDD so bad that they have to "transition" into having it???? They do not want those (as someone who has a dissociative disorder)!!! Like, yeah if you want a system then just make one yourself by endogenic purposes. Don't.. don't do whatever those fuckers are doin
you dont sound like a borderline sysmed you just sound like a normal fucking person. if you want to have a system you can make one through endogenic purposes, yes! dont fucking treat did/osdd as a "quirky" and "cute" thing you can just transition to have./nay it also brings a bad name to trans people, imo, bc theyre using the "trans" prefix, its just eugh..

Had a group of teens laugh at and make fun of me for walking with my cane today. Wtf y’all wtf.
Is decency not a thing? Is kindness non existent? I am just a person and sure I use a mobility aid but goddamnit that doesn’t mean you cam/should laugh or make fun of me or any other disabled person for how they walk or behave and what not

Being autistic in the workplace is fucking terrifying. I feel like I’m never gonna get it, never gonna be fast or eloquent enough. I know I’m not the problem — capitalism & ableism are, but still.
Feeling like the gritty sidewalk under a puddle today :(

Just because you yourself are disabled doesn’t mean you can’t be ableist

The narrative that “you should care about disabled people because one day that’ll be you” is ableist in and of itself.
You should care about disabled people’s rights because you should care about the disenfranchisement of a marginalized community.
Becoming disabled is not a punishment. Becoming disabled is not a threat. Becoming disabled is not cosmic retaliation for being ableist. Becoming disabled is morally neutral.
