This was an idea I came up with while doing Kanji copy work, and the character '悪' (warui) in the Kanji dictionary I've been using just comes with a whole lot of example words, all of which are negative. Which was when I was like, "I can so imagine Atsushi quoting this at Akutagawa" Also one of the pronunciations is 'Aku' which while a different Kanji from the one used in the name 'Akutagawa Ryuunosuke', is still kind of funny. Hence 'malice' being pronounced as 'aku-i' and 'evil deed' as 'aku-ji'

Didn't really know how to draw Rashoumon, but I ended up going with dragon heads. Cause I feel like I've heard it described similar to dragons somewhere, and it was fun.

I don't know if my elementary and middle school education was just leagues above some other schools or what, but sometimes I'm amazed at how much basic knowledge high-schoolers don't know

#in middle‚ there'd be like two or three people who had trouble reading and couldn't say a lot of words. who read aloud really slowly #and i always assumed “huh‚ maybe they have dyslexia. i'm not one to judge”#that's where i developed a habit of saying words people couldn’t figure out for them‚ so they could learn it and continue going #which was entirely socially acceptable in middle school but some people see it as rude outside of that apparently so idk #but like. i haven't heard a single person in high school (who volunteers or is picked on by the teacher) who can read text fluently #i havent had issues like that since maybe fourth grade. and when i was a little kid i HATED reading out loud for my mom #i dont know. people don't know how to read analog clocks‚ or how to count syllables‚ or what prepositions are and like.#maybe half of the reason i'm “smart” is my elementary+middle school. maybe we were an annomaly #is it public vs private schools? it's probably that #existenceunrelateds

I feel gross like I am getting a cold.

Last night was a wash, I didn't get much done except make some high protein cookie dough. Read that as high calorie if you need to because I think that is also true.

I am reminded today of my pinned post, in the fact that I need to remind myself to stay the course.

I am 105 pounds down and likely could still have a ton to lose. I am reminding myself how close I am to my next goal. And what was my GW: 176. My UGW, which now seems too high.

Anyway... ugg. Stay the course.

Yes, a person can lose 40 pounds and look absolutely shredded.

But stop the jealousy train and focus on yourself. Yes, your journey is longer... but you are doing the dang thing.

I thought I was done being feral about Tamagotchis but no, it was just a lull

#I was already interested in getting a Gotchi for the past couple months and then KKClue dropped that video (praise be)#And Then I learned that there was a cheap way of purchasing legit Japanese Gotchis?? I may uh. Have. Purchased a few #I never really had That Moment as a kid or teen of being impulsive with money - I'd either save it up and get one big thing #Or I'd buy little things until I eventually ran out - and that habit has kinda continued into adulthood lol #Nowadays the one big thing is usually something like a new computer when my old one dies but it certainly is a big thing lol #And I like getting little things like my puzzle cubes <3 But I'm fairly miserly!#Well. Until.#I've finally hit The Phase of impulsive purchases because of a perfect storm of Things Happening lol #I first wrote down that I wanted to start looking for Tamagotchis in March of this year and I was going about it rather casually to start #Just looking around Big Box stores to check pricing - then various toy and vintage stores to see if they had stock #Most of them didn't but I did get in some delightful networking :D I want to go back and continue!#I finally broke down a week ago and checked Amazon for the ''custom'' shell designs because I like the galaxy one hehe #And then - that accursed video (affectionate)#I may have watched it five times so far lol and then actually bit the bullet and checked out the sponsor and Fucking Hell #I can never get into gambling this does absolutely wack shit to my brain it's only half about the Gotchis themselves anymore #That said I am very excited for my Mesutchi to arrive! I really want to get an Osutchi to go with her and a Gen 1 and and and #I want to collect all the Angelgotchs so bad you don't understand I Must Have them in all the colours it's very important #I'm even considering doing some kind of Project with them once they arrive I don't know it's just all so exciting #I'm feeling very normal #Oh yeah and barely related other than IRL silliness - I finally got a haircut! :D #It'll take a bit for my sona to update but it was today! I think I currently have like *checks google docs* 9 WIPs that are currently collecting dust 🥹 Ive always been awful at planning and outlining, but I've come to realise that's less of a flaw of me as a writer, and more just how I develop my writing style. If I plan out a story too much, I find that I lose the motivation to take those notes and expand upon them. So honestly, if you get a random spark of inspiration and you don't get it finished that day, or find that the next day you don't know where to take it, just leave it!

Because at some point, whether it be a few hours, days, or months later, your brain will hand you a lovely little gift wrapped present, and when you open it, it'll be an idea that sparks inspiration for that piece, or it'll be to motivation to sit down and give it another look over.

I guess the only real piece of advice I could give to this is don't be afraid of starting again. If you have an idea that you really love, but realise you're not loving the direction it's going in, cut it back! There's no shame in it, nor was that a waste of time or work, you're learning, feeling your way through, it'll always work out in the end!

college grads are LITERALLY stupider than everyone else on earth in all the ways that matter

#just saw someone ask ‘how could anyone possibly learn [easily learnable through observation and practice skill that many alive ppl have]#‘don’t be silly no one can Learn Things what if i don’t already know it so i can get it right’ SCHOOL! IS! POISON!#listen i have had 1 full semester of college almost 6 years ago and i use the internet to teach myself topics every. single. day.#just casually. while walking down the street. on the bus. in the bathroom. chilling.#if a thought that goes ‘i wonder why…’ comes to you you can look it up. between the internet and libraries and fileswaps you can learn #everything there is to know about a topic. organized at the pace and pattern you want. you have to get into the habit of #wondering about things and noticing your own wondering and formulating it as a question anlooking it up in odd times in between life #it’s definitely a skill you have to cultivate and at some point for some topics you hit a wall where you have to find and ask real people #in order to continue any further and sometimes you can’t so you have to admit there’s a specific articulatable thing you don’t know yet #which is way ahead of the curve intellectually. and college teaches you the ANTITHESIS of that skill!#coal sings

The tags on my whiteness post said to me that white people (at least those that are racially aware) and colonized natives perhaps have more in common than most people think. Or at least more than they talk about it in public.

Not that they're the same. Misogyny and transphobia are not the same, but they are both veins of oppression in a patriarchy. Similar.

In the same way, that empty hollowness white ppl feel where your culture should be is not unlike what I feel as a native, from what I've read of your accounts. Learning your ancestors chose whiteness and safety and comfort over culture and identity. That now you have nothing because of the colonization and assimilation your grandparents experienced when they got to the USA. Because of whiteness. Because of the power it has even just as a concept in the US.

We experience these for much different reasons and at least your loss bought you privilege.

... but they aren't total opposites either. A hollowness where you know rich history used to be? Having culture but feeling a disconnect where you know More used to be? Feeling like you only have scraps of the culture your family used to have? Clinging to what you can get your hands on? Feeling like it's so detached that it's not really yours?

I get that and I bet I'm not the only one.

The USA's habit for white supremacy, racism, and colonization hurt all of us.

And it will benefit all of us to discard the systems those things built. They're still there and still hurting every one of us.

We can build a future that benefits us all instead as soon as we all start working on that together.

But we can't do that if some of us refuse to admit the system is what's hurting us. If we refuse to acknowledge that even with perfect politicians our Systems would still prevent progress because they are built on outdated and white supremacist ideals we'll just continue to suffer together under those systems instead.

We can't keep attacking each other just because some of us refuse to look at the ideologies fueling our current reality.
