Pilot - Call Me Round (1975)

Scottish pop group Pilot didn't get much attention in the U.S., though Magic was a hit in 1974. It's the type of well crafted, melodic soft-rock that would probably have annoyed me once upon a time, but it sounds pretty good right now.

Kate Cooper is a former storm chaser who now studies storm patterns safely on screens in New York City. Her friend Javi pulls her back into the field to help test a new tornado tracking system. While there she crosses paths with Tyler Owens, a storm-chasing social media star. As the storms intensify, Kate and Tyler's teams find themselves fighting for their lives in the paths of multiple storm systems.

Twisters is directed by Lee Isaac Chung from a screenplay by Mark L. Smith. There is an elephant in the room within our discussions on the state of the popular rock during the noughts lurking quite a lot. Yes, I forgot to mention nu metal. I believe the style became a shorthand to simplify the problems of rock in the period. While I would agree the brand had a lot of difficulties, some of the musicians there were quite promising. I mean, Evanescence remain one of those groups no one's really sure what to think of, yet then one samples some of their tunes and one gets surprised. A reason for the latter might be Amy Lee, she stays mentioned as one of the better vocalists of rock, but I still feel the group's underappreciated as the band has a weird place right now, i.e. you root for them, though you go to their concerts for their older material.

After Bertie (Harry Hadden-Paton) proposes in the previous episode, Edith wrestles with her answer. She loves him, but he doesn't know about Marigold. If she says yes and doesn't tell him, there's a lie at the heart of their marriage. But will she ruin it if she does tell him? After breaking up with Henry (Matthew Goode) in the wake of Brooklands, a broken-hearted Mary is instantly jealous when she learns that Edith's beau, Bertie, has shockingly inherited the title of Marquess of Hexham. If Edith marries him, she'll outrank her entire family. Meanwhile, Mary forbids Tom to ask Henry over, now hell-bent on securing an advantageous marriage, too, but he turns up to confront her one last time. She's angry at his audacity as he confidently states she's in love with him.

He claims that she's not the person who would dispense with love just to have a marriage that came with a position. Mary angrily tells him to leave and later takes her wretchedness out on Edith once she learns Edith accepted Bertie without telling him about Marigold. Mary congratulates the couple on the engagement while not-so-subtly commending Bertie for overlooking Edith's past. Bertie is shocked at the discovery of Marigold and flees Downton, leaving Edith just as heartbroken as her sister. A huge quarrel erupts, and after some painful talks with Tom and Violet, Mary realizes that only Henry can make her happy. Before they tie the knot, Edith returns to fix things with Mary.

WINTER BLUES

For my first-Sunday-of-the-month blues set tonight, I generated some tasty frost fae in the styles of Pierre et Gilles, James Bidgood, and David LaChapelle in Midjourney (the more photographic images), plus those three along with Louis Théophile Hingre, Frederic Leighton, John Anster Fitzgerald, Joseph Noel Paton, and Gustave Boulanger on the Niji server (the more illustrated images). Again with the too many and way more than I can choose from; part of my reason for posting to this Tumblr is to get outside opinions, so we shall see who wins :D
