Consider: middle schooler Yuu is only a little shit as a defense mechanism. Think about it: they're surrounded by assholes in a strange world with no idea how they got there or how to return home. Being weak makes them a target, so they'll match the energy of the people around them in order to stay safe. They're perfectly capable of being chill, but being an asshole is safer in this environment than being nice.

Ironically I was also thinking about this, however we already have Mean!Yuu for that, and having a Yuu thats just a straight up brat has not yet been done yet on this blog. Plus you are doubting the edginess of middle schoolers. I remember hearing idubzzz catchphrase said constantly as a joke

He trudges his way out of bed. Every limb feels like he’s being weighed down. Like he’s walking through sand. Like he’s on the surface of Jupiter.

He would give anything just to be able to breathe again.

Ian hasn’t washed his face in about 3 days, not to mention a shower. 

When he looks in the mirror, he can barely recognize the face looking back at him.

Ian feels Mickey embrace him from behind.
