I think Caleb does understand that these two hosts are just playing the roles they were given. They're designed to seduce guests like him, but their attraction isn't real, they don't really have that choice. And yet, at the same time when they get up close like this and make their advances toward him, it all must feel very real and that would be weird and difficult for anyone like him to process. So much of Caleb's character is based around seeking what is "real" and holding onto his own idea of what real is and finding meaning in all of that.

But it's not like he thinks the hosts can't be real. He has had more than enough experience while working alongside Maeve and Dolores before to know that they CAN be every bit as real as he is and that what they feel is genuine, even though they are not human. And Maeve is the one who gets him out of these scenarios, she waves off both Sophia and Knockoff Clementine with a "your services won't be necessary" but as she does so she has a realization where she has to ask herself if this is something Caleb would really want her to do, to act for him in saying "no thank you", or if he's no different from other humans she's known and might go along with it after all. There's also a sense of protectiveness, even jealousy in how quick she waves them off that he picks up on.

Fictober23 Prompt: 4 - "Do you even know what this means?"

Tim stared at his family with pure exhaustion before letting out a sigh while covering his face with his hands because of the worried looks they were sending him after his long rant.

It had all started with a stupid school project. It was just supposed to be a stupidly simple school project. Did he think of the whole thing as the greatest nonsense project his school has ever come up with? Yes. Did he still do it? Yes. He needed the extra credits, because of some stupid meetings he had missed other projects which was the entire reason he took part in this one.

Maybe he should have tried buying his grade out of it like all the other snobbish rich kids but then he would feel guilty and the moment Alfred found out, he would have to life with the disappointed™ look. Something he really didn't want to deal with. So instead he took part in this stupid ancestry project his school had organized.

But when he had allowed the school to send in his DNA he certainly did not expect the result he got back. Because when he opened the email, he noted that it was addressed to someone named Danny Fenton not Tim Drake, he didn't even read the rest really. That should have been his first warning.

His second warning was when he had hacked into the that DNA testing facility to actually get his results back and then found a note on his data file about a near 100% DNA match to one Danny Fenton which caused them to assumed that Tim was Danny and just had sent in his DNA a second time after, he peaked through his finger onto the screen, 5 years. That should have been his second warning.

But no, Tim had actively ignored all the warnings and decided to dig into who this Danny Fenton was. Because there were so many possibilities of how they could match but only so little to explain the time difference between them sending in the DNA samples. For dear good Tim hoped to all things that there wasn't someone else to have attempted to clone him before Ra, no worse even, he hoped HE wasn't the clone in this situation.

Really he didn't want to add existential crisis to all the problems and cases he already had to deal with.

So what does one do best when they learn there was someone with nearly the same DNA you have? He looked that someone up. So that was what Tim did next. He had spent nights looking up anything he could find, summarizing all the information he found, branching off when he found other concerning stuff and then stewed in some frustration of the incompetence of some people when discovering other facts.

In the end Tim compiled all the data he had found into a 30 slides long power point. That he had presented to his family and was awaiting their reaction. Bruce had grunted earlier and the demon brat had huffed out something in between slight 25 and 26 earlier. Jason had muttered something right at the beginning and Dick had stayed quiet the entire time, so did Cass. Steph hadn't said a thing either and Duke looked just puzzled.

"Do you even know what that means?" Demon brat finally broke the silence, causing Tim's eye to twitch before aggressively pointing to his last slide still on the presenter.

"Yes, I do know what this means. I have listed all possibilities right here if you haven't noticed. And i explained possibility three, four and six on slide-"

"Replacement. I don't think that's what the brat means." Jason cut in and Tim glared at him.

"Timmy, when was the last time you slept?" Dick carefully asked and Tim directed his glare at him.

"I believe Master Timothy hasn't slept for about 72 hours now." Alfred added in with that disapproving stare of him and time looked away stubbornly. How was the amount of sleep he got relevant right now? There was a possibility of him being a clone or someone having cloned maybe even years before he started to follow B around as a kid with a camera.

Bruce let out a sigh and Steph appeared to try to hide a chuckle leaning on Cass shoulder. "He must be lacking sleep if he doesn't see the most obvious possibility considering the time line he presented on slide 18."

"Oh so, I am not the only one thinking he is missing another obvious possibility?" Duke asked and once more Tims eye twitched. Getting fed up with his family, Tim huffed and crossed his arms, glaring at them all.

"And what is it that I am obviously missing?"

"The screenshot of the mail you put in slide 3 stated that it's not a 100% match but 89%. In addition it stated in the last line a suspected possibility of a familiar relation. I am disappointed, Drake. That you would miss something this obvious."

"What?" Tim whirled around going to the slide to reread the mail.

"Considering that I am pretty sure, we don't have any sort of cloning case here Tim." Dick started his voice now slightly laced with Humor and Tim narrowed his eyes at his older brother over his shoulder. "You just discovered that you had a twin, that we probably still go to rescue."

Tim's mouth opened and closed like a fish out of water. He did not know what to say and before he could even catch up with what his brothers had said Alfred was already behind him pushing him towards the elevator.

"It is time for you to get some sleep Master Timothy. I am sure Master Bruce and the others will be perfectly able to handle the rest of the situation with the information you compiled. You can join them after you have rested."

Boo-hoo update

I’m sorry to say I have an update I was hoping to not ever have to make. Some of you already know that I have some serious health issues, but I've been pretty quiet about the extent of what I'm dealing with.

The gist of it is that I have a rare bone disease called fibrous dysplasia that turned certain bones in my skull into tumors and then those tumors grew inward and started crushing my brain, so I had a craniotomy last year to remove as much as was safe and got a cool new titanium implant in my head to replace the removed bone/tumor. The unfortunate result was encephalomalacia, which is the end stage of liquifying necrosis, and now part of my brain is liquid instead of solid (it’s dead, in a nutshell). Most people don’t survive encephalomalacia, much less remain able to function, and most who survive the initial stage don’t survive the three year mark. Even when you do survive it, it often continues spreading. The last MRI showed it had already taken over about 1/3 of my brain. But I’m a stubborn asshole and am still hanging on.

Unfortunately, things aren’t getting better.

I have to have constant MRIs, EEGs, physical and cognitive therapies, and have been on more meds than I’d like to be in order to control seizures and various cognitive issues. I didn’t mention this before, but I had to go through a series of speech therapies just to learn to talk properly again. And the most unfortunate part of this is that my ability to write has been affected. Since the surgery over a year ago, I’ve only made 10 new posts in the Positronic Rivalry series, totaling around 87k words. For reference, I posted over 200k words in 2022. I’ve posted even less this year, and it’s not improving.

With that said, I have to take a step back. I’m not quitting and I’m not walking away from the fandom. I’d like to think I’ll still be able to post here and there. I just don’t know when and under what circumstances that will happen. I most certainly can’t handle the longer multi-chapter fics I once could. Maybe one day, but not this day. Since I started posting on AO3 back at the end of 2021, I’ve posted every Sunday more often than not. I’m sorry to say I can’t make that happen right now, and can’t say when I’ll post again or what it will be. I won't be able to continue with season 4.

But I’m most definitely not leaving the fandom and the people and the characters I love so much. I’ll still be here interacting and posting when I’m able. This fandom and the people in it are incredible and mean a lot to me. Data and Lore and Star Trek in general are integral to my life and general enjoyment.

But!! I’ve nearly completed compiling seasons 1-3 of Positronic Rivalry as well as 2022/23 Kinktobers into files that will be ready to print in physical book format (completely free, obviously), which I’ll make available for everyone to download in various print sizes, complete with covers, which you can then have printed at various POD sites if you’re so inclined. Digital versions will also be available (you can already download various formats from AO3, but they’re not compiled into seasons, don’t have covers, etc.).

I’m also continuing with the Trek-themed crossword puzzles because those are fun and my therapist thinks making them is good for my cognitive rehab.

This update is a massive bummer for me, but I felt it was better to just admit my limitations instead of constantly trying to convince myself that I could continue the way I had been pre-surgery and beating myself up when I couldn’t.

Lastly, I’ve finally taken the suggestion I’ve gotten repeatedly and set up a KoFi. If you’d like to buy me a coffee or toss a coin to your android porn witcher, you can do so right here and I’d be giggling and kicking my feet in gratitude.

Just like the title states, this post intends to cover everything there is to know about Ghost King Danny fics for the DPxDC crossover on Ao3! Understandably, this is a very long post and there are a lot of numbers involved, so you may want to be prepared!

Did You Know?

There are a total of 1,334 Ghost King Danny Fenton fics found on Ao3. Of that figure, DPxDC makes up 697 fics- a whopping 52.25% of all fics under the "Ghost King Danny Fenton" tag. Danny Phantom, one of the parent fandoms for this crossover, have a total of 439 fics, which amounts to 32.91% of this tag.

But that's just the broader overview of the Ghost King trope for the crossover. Looking deeper reveals more interesting details about this concept and the authors' preferences.

Before we begin, it would be remiss of me not to include a disclaimer about this information. You are otherwise free to ignore this list, but for those of you who are interested on where or how I gathered this data, I thought it would be appropriate to be as open as possible.

These numbers were gathered through manual labor on the site, Archive of Our Own.

These numbers were compiled in one day- September 12th, 2023, and as such, may not reflect the statistics on Ao3 in, for example, one month from now.

IMPORTANT TO NOTE: These figures only include fics that have been explicitly tagged as Ghost King Danny. While some stories not included in these statistics may have hints towards his royal status, a good rule of thumb is to never assume the trope will be included in a fic until given reason to. The best way to do that is when the author properly tags "Ghost King Danny Fenton" on their work.

More people have written about Danny Fenton & Jason Todd in a platonic relationship than a romantic one.

There have been arguments that depictions of Jack and Maddie as bad parents are everywhere in the crossover. Numbers show, however, that for the Ghost King Danny Fenton tag it is very unlikely. Even if there were a hundred more fics that use one of the alternate tags, that would still only be 27.4%. That's little over 1/4 of all Ghost King DPxDC fics. Now, 1/4 might sound like a lot, but when you consider that there are 3/4 of other stories that do not include this concept, or the Fenton parents' skills are irrelevant to the story told, that's not actually as many as it would seem.

A Guide to Lewis Hamilton and Peter Bonnington

Recently I have been convincing people to become obsessed with whatever Lewis and Bono have so instead of repeating myself unnecessarily I have decided to make this handy dandy Bible guide to their journey together!

1. The Basics

Lewis and Bono have the longest running engineer and driver pairing in the history of the sport.

Sir Lewis Hamilton: if you don’t know who he is then I’m slightly surprised you are here but I am not here to judge. Sir Lewis Hamilton is a British F1 driver who has won 7 world championship titles with the Mercedes team! He’s a legend in the sport. He made his debut with McLaren in 2007 and has been with Mercedes since 2013.

Peter “Bono” Bonnington: Bono is senior race engineer for Mercedes. He has been race engineer since 2011 where he worked with other 7 time world champion Michael Schumacher. After Schumacher left Bono was paired with Lewis and they have been together ever since! He has been widely regarded as the most successful and most well known race engineer.

Note: for some reason there was a misconception going around that Bono was 10 years older than he really was. Let’s put this to rest: his birthday is 12 February 1975. Source

It’s Hammertime: maybe one of the most famous Lewis radio messages. Bono explains that during the years where radio messages were more strict they needed a code word to let Lewis know it was time to really go all out. 2. The Partnership

Out on track the race engineer is the critical link from the team in the garage to the driver. They must analyze all the data and determine what the driver needs to know without overwhelming them.

Angelic unacceptable cybersecurity practices: what exactly is fucked in Heaven and what thoughts does this lead to?

After the conversation with @raining-stars-somewhere-else and his post about Saraqael I have pondered a bit and now I want to be "that guy" about heavenly security policy as an IT person and wannabe-cybersecuritist.

Disclaimer 1 - there are no conclusions here. I am trying to compile my observations related to Heavenly data and lay out kinda a tree graph of possible explanations. But I doubt I’ll be able to choose the most possible coherent interpretation.

Disclaimer 2 - english is not my first language so I might make some (many) mistakes.

No onboarding for low ranked angels (not sure it s really a vulnerability)

This fandom (but not me sry) loves naive and curious Muriel, but what I am focused on is why archangels dont give an incompetent low ranked angel some instructions. Actually, main question is why Saraqael didn't entrust the surveillance to other more professional angelic spy.  In terms of common sense,  there is not a single reason why that should be Muriel. But Saraqael’s intention is unclear to us, so I can brainstorm the variety of versions:

They hadn’t considered. Simplest variant, but this decision is seeming  too failed to be a mistake. I really don't believe Saraqael could just overlook this, they seem smart.

An attempt to WARN. A spy who is so easy to get busted is making it clear to husbands that they are being watched. Also note that even Muriel’s heavenly outfit seems to be more fitting for Earth than shining Inspector-Constable’s suit.

An attempt to threat the same way.

A setup for Michael and Uriel, it might be a part of some undercover games and a power struggle.

Michael & Uriel gave this task to Muriel along the way. Because ineffable husbands aren’t the only ones who don’t like to strain.

They never changed passwords

“you'd have to be a throne or a dominion or above”

Okay that seems to be redundant. Demon’s invasion is not the regular occurrence. Apparently heavenly passwords represent some sort of a cast of the celestial soul and angels can just touch a folder. And there are no new angels in the office BUT.

What about personnel reshuffles that happened canonically?

Example 1. After Crowley had made some troubles Azi has been demoted from Cherub to Principality. It means that he could have had access to confidential folders earlier and he might still have it as a principality.

Example 2. Maybe, Gabriel with erased memory would have it too, but if we assume that new memory = new identity, then it is a controversial issue. Anyway, this password policy is totally fucked up.

Another explanation is based on on the second assumption that angels receive their passwords externally. What if Crowley wasn't a Throne or a Dominion or above? WHAT IF HE HAS STOLEN ACCESS.

Always asking damn fool questions, isn’t he? Fell for this? One of the most popular hacking attack vectors is social engineering. It implies that you are using psychological manipulations to get access to secure data.  It is not so hard for humans to steal password this way. And it would be so easy for one creative angel who is brilliantly sweet-talking and successfully prying all necessary information. Yeah he literally fell for questions. This angel (or demon) also might hack other angelic devices like Michael’s smartphone or Saraqael’s memory manager as well. He has room to move around.

Strangers allowed

Small appetizer: a critical issue of angelic nature - they are worse at detecting  demonic presence (Gabriel didn’t recognize Beelzebub) than demons and they are too naive (not all of them, okay).

So. Any object with confidential info requires a pass-entry system. But here we have a case of someone (worse than that, a demon) whose presence at office was not sanctioned by the system. I guess a low-ranking angel doesn’t have authority to do that. Anyway no one can reveal his disguise by default. As we have seen in s1ep6 a demon can even take a certain angel’s appearance. Who said that other demons cannot do the same?

And now we are going to to discuss a fucking disaster

A demon has the ability to disguise as an angel and may not be revealed (example: Crowley as Azi).

And there’s one angel in Heaven who miracles like demons do (by waving hand upwards).

I mean, what if there is more than one grapevine. And here I also have a variety of versions for “demon Saraqael” theory:

Sara has fallen with other demons and they are still pretending. Unlikely scenario bc i don’t believe that they had not been revealed in the last 6 millenia.

Demonic spy. This version explains  why they sent Muriel (look at setup version 4 about Muriel). An unknown demon disguised by Saraqael is sabotaging angelic investigation. What has happened with true Sara?

Other variant - demonic spy, but Michael (a grapevine) is in the loop.

A voluntary body swap. We still don’t know Saraqael’s ineffable game. 

Wait, what? An ineffable game? They are Almighty?

Anyway, that’s all for today. I don’t know which of all this versions is better (you are dark horse, Saraqael), but we all like to be be fussy about details like gestures, so maybe someone has better ideas about demonic invasion in Heaven.

the discourse over ao3’s top 100 ships for 2023 is hilarious; apparently, several ships (particularly from the harry potter marauders sub-fandom) made an appearance pretty high up - remus lupin x sirius black at 2, and james potter x regulus black at 6. i did some research and apparently they’re VERY popular - pretty funny to me how people are pearl clutching over them appearing when the whole schtick of the yearly top 100 ships is just … compiling statistics + publicly available data

Has Senshi lost to anyone?

Not yet, but the closest he has come to losing was against Falin Touden from Dungeon Meshi It was like 47 point something to 52 point something percent and there's like 2 hours left in the poll at the moment. But I've already got a request for a rematch in the poll after some major manga spoilers are revealed in the anime which could change the tide and the rematch. Now I definitely won't do that rematch until that spoiler is revealed in the anime for obvious reasons. Now that is probably the only way I see him losing at least for the foreseeable future as long as Dungeon Meshi remains in the weekly top 20 overall Fandom chart.

Now if it starts slipping on the overall chart and then even farther on the Manga and Anime only chart. Yeah he's probably going to start to lose because some other anime sexy man has probably going to take it over at that point.

Now if anyone doesn't know what I'm talking about Tumblr does have a dedicated blog where they share this weekly fandom review data. Where they compile all website wide data to determine what is the most popular fandom related topic each week. And it's not just anime and manga. They share stuff on Ships, TV shows, movies, music, K-pop, and a lot of other stuff. I'll go ahead and link it

It's quite interesting to see the weekly trends and it might help people understand why some fandoms consistently get more requests than others
