#GO DOWNLOAD FLASHPOINT

Text
it's come to my attention that a lot of people don't know about bluemaxima's flashpoint and genuinely think they'll never be able to play their favorite 00s internet games ever again so i just want to remind everyone that flashpoint is a huge internet flash game preservation project that allows you to play just about any internet flash game/animation despite the death of flash. if they've got it in their database (and they probably do) you can play it. go forth and drink in the 00s nostalgia
even if you think there's no way they'll have the game u want. they probably do anyway. when i first downloaded flashpoint i thought for sure theres no way they will have the obscure flash game i played for hours as a kid that was only even available on the internet for like 2 months in 2006. but you know what. they had it. seriously, download flashpoint

idk if its jsut me but the old web/ old internet just felt much more clunky but in a good way. the way things were designed just felt like they were more object-like like a puffy sticker that you could touch, ya know? they just felt like they had so much more buttons and fun stuff and it just felt so... texturized?
nowaday most things feel flat n stuff. and i know thats for optimability (poopy imo) but like..... i dunno...... i miss clicky buttons

🎒✏️🍎 weekend activity for littles! turn your house into a school! 🍎✏️🎒
prepare your schedule the night before! what classes will you do at what time? what order will you do them in? write it down! set alarms on your phone for when each class will be, so you know when to switch!
don’t forget to prepare worksheets, activities, and make sure you know what rooms you’re using! if you have a cg, this job is best suited for them!
class ideas: math, spelling, writing, social studies/history, science, art, music, etc!
“downtime” class ideas: naptime, free time, movie time, free draw, computer lab, play time
wake up bright and early! get dressed, brush your teeth, brush your hair, and get your school supplies! go into the room that you’ve designated as your classroom!
if you have a cg, have them be your teacher for the day! if you don’t have one, that’s okay! you can do all of this by yourself pretty easily.
if the room has a closet, use that as your cubby! hang up your bag and any other belongings in it!
get ready for your school day! sit down on the floor like you would in a preschool or kindergarten classroom, and get ready to learn!
ideas on what to do for each class under the cut (to avoid this post being way too long!)
math
print out some math worksheets (or download and do them digitally, bonus points if it’s on a tablet with a stylus for extra realism!) and work on them! do whatever level of math is most accessible to you!
count stuff! count your toys, blocks, stuffies, anything! make problems and equations by taking away items, adding items, dividing items, etc and solve them!
play math games! multiplication .com has a lot of accessible math games, or you can use the flashpoint program to play math games from your favorite tv shows!
ELA
print/download handwriting practice sheets and practice writing your letters!
if you have a cg with you, have them read a book out loud to you! make sure to pay attention, and be prepared to write about what was just read to you!
read your favorite book, and create a book report based on it with pictures and decorations!
do spelling worksheets and exercises!
social studies
practice geography by identifying states or countries on an unlabeled map! start with your own country, then move on to other countries to make it more challenging!
learn about history by watching educational history cartoons!
do a cultural interview! find someone in your life whether it be a friend, a partner, or a family member and interview them about their heritage and culture! if you can’t find someone, write about your own culture!
science
use a store bought science kit and play around with it! write down everything you’ve learned.
make slime or oobleck! there’s countless recipes online that teach you how to make them! they’re both super easy to make.
draw a diagram of our solar system! label the planets properly and write one fact about each one!
art
draw your family! could be your biological or found family!
finger paint!
watercolor paint!
make pottery out of clay or play doh!
make a collage of your favorite things! print out pictures of stuff you like and glue it to a piece of paper!
music
sing along to your favorite songs! pull up sing-along versions of songs from disney movies or karaoke versions of your favorite songs!
if you have any kind of instrument, play it! try to play simple songs on it like mary had a little lamb or hot cross buns!
if you’re regressed a bit older, study sheet music! teach yourself what all the symbols mean!
nap time
take a 30 minute break to nap, or just lay down and rest! put on a soft lullaby or a quiet song you really like.
to make it more “school-like”, nap on the floor! preferably on a fluffy rug or mat, so it isn’t uncomfortable or bad for your back! lay out your favorite blanket, pillow, stuffie, and hit the hay!
play time / free time
just play!!! have fun and play with your toys, your stuffies, play dress up, etc!
if it’s nice outside, go play outside!
draw a picture!
read your favorite book!
if you’re an over-achiever, do some more worksheets!
computer lab
go on your computer or laptop if you have one, and play some educational games, watch educational videos, etc!
when you’ve done an adequate amount of learning, you earn free time! use this to play any fun game you want! (minecraft, roblox, animal jam, fun flash games, etc!)
field trips
(may require a cg if you can’t take yourself places when small!)
take a trip to a museum!
go to the library! find a cool book you find interesting and read it!
take a walk around town! write down all the interesting things you find in nature like animals, bugs, plants, etc!
end of the day
when your “school day” ends, have your cg grade how you did! if you don’t have a cg, grade yourself! but be honest, of course. if you get a good grade, you’ll get a reward!
i know this is elaborate and may seem silly, but i’ve heard a lot of littles say an elementary school environment would be really beneficial to them! i hope this helps some of you who are yearning for that!

Message to anyone looking to make a "2000's edutainment" themed horror game
Do yourself a solid and do your research. Its so easy and genuinely fun to go back and play old crappy games. If you need somewhere to start looking, check out Myabandonware (an archive of retro computer games from 1978 to 2012, which are free to download and take up like zero space on your computer) or Flashpoint (another free to download mega archive of almost every game that was lost to time after flash died off.) I'll even link 'em to you. here.
It's not that hard to make something look authentic to this time. it's not that hard to do research so you know what your project should look like. Also it's just fun to play toys and games. Go play toys!!!!

Because you can!
Islands up to and Including Mystery of the Map can be played in Flashpoint, a program that was used to archive plenty of the old games that went offline when Flash died.
I’m not one of the people running Flashpoint, so I can’t 100% promise you wont have any problems with it. But I’ve been using it to play old games for a while and haven’t had any trouble.
How to:
1. Go to https://bluemaxima.org/flashpoint/downloads/ and download “Flashpoint 11.1 Infinity”
2. Run the installation file, this will extract all files.
3. Go into the folder the files were extracted to and double click the file called “run-flashpoint”.
4. Flashpoint should open, in the top left corner there should be a menu called “games”. Go into the search bar and type “poptropica”
Tumblr media
Feels good to finally let Skull head back into work.
(All islands I tried were fully playable, but I wasn’t able to get the saving mechanism to work. So I’d suggest not closing the program until you’ve finished the island you’re currently on or you’ll have to restart. The store was also unavailable, so no hair bun and earrings for Skull.)

I'm very alarmed by how many people are dismissive of the lost media community, even going so far as to spread misinformation about them. I've seen them characterize lost media seekers as ignorant whiners and brats, and that they're wasting their efforts. Do these people have any idea how difficult it actually is to find this stuff? It can take years, if copies even exist. Don't they value art preservation?
You'd be astonished by how many shows that are barely twenty years old that have simply vanished, with no clear indication of whether or not the copyright holders kept a record of it. When fans try to contact the people involved in the show, they often refuse to answer emails. These aren't old, aging shows from fifty years ago, decaying in some film can. These are shows from as recent as the 2000s and 2010s.
There's been a toxic attitude going around big media companies for a couple decades now, treating their IPs (and their customers) as disposable, moving on to the next thing as soon as profits dry up. This is a big part of the reason media becomes lost in the first place. Old show not getting enough ratings? Need to make room for a new show? Just get rid of it! Now, some of these examples aren't lost media, admittedly- but they definitely could have been, if not for an on-the-ball internet pirate downloading and backing them up. There's a series from 2002 called Whatever Happened to... Robot Jones? which hasn't been on the air in about twenty years. The original audio track was missing for many years, and had to be pieced together from several sources, with the video elements coming from a foreign dub. There was a music track heard in an episode of SpongeBob called "Humpback Hop" with several minutes cut from it, unheard of for two decades, and even the composer had lost all of his copies of it. It seemed like even Nickelodeon didn't have it in their archives, because they rerecorded it for a DVD menu. It's a miracle somebody finally tracked it down. There's a series from 2007 called Out of Jimmy's Head, whose original English version is still half missing. Even though by all accounts it's a crappy show, I still want to see it. (update: This show has been found, thank goodness.) And even though I'm not a fan, there are dozens of 2010s Cartoon Network shows that were once on HBO Max, that are simply gone. They're not in reruns, they're not officially streaming. You have to resort to piracy to view them. I wouldn't wish this fate on anybody. The Willow series from 2022 was taken off Disney+ mere weeks after its debut, just because not enough people watched it. It's stuck in the middle of a storyline.
Nintendo has been notoriously bad about this. They don't want you to play any NES, SNES, GB, or N64 games that aren't the most iconic best-sellers. They take down ROM websites, even if most of the games there aren't first party or being sold in any way. The only way to legally play a game that isn't available on the Switch is to pay hundreds or even thousands of dollars for a working console and cartridges. Most people can't afford to do that.
If it hadn't been for the efforts of unofficial programs like Ruffle and Flashpoint, thousands of flash games and cartoons would be unplayable and unwatchable.
Even if the cartoon is safe and sound locked away in some vault, instead of missing entirely, it still winds up unseen that way. The public has a right to see a show they used to be able to see and enjoyed, instead of it being unviewable for all eternity. "Oh, but they have a right to not let us see it! They own the rights to it, after all, and can do whatever they want!" some might say. What if WB went out of their way to destroy every DVD, Blu-ray, and video tape of Looney Tunes, and locked away all their copies? Would you feel the same way then? Would we not have a right to see them? Would you just roll over and take it, and let corporate overlords tell what you can or can't watch? Just shrug it off and say "Oh well, guess I'll never see it again"? How would it not irritate you? TV and movies aren't the same as some painting or statue where usually only one version of it exists in some museum or private collection. Media is meant to be distributed and seen worldwide, for everyone to enjoy in their homes. If they're stuck in some warehouse on some hard drive, they may as well not exist.
It extends out into other aspects of our lives- old buildings get torn down instead of getting restored, vintage interiors get torn out or covered up by something modern or ugly. There was a time when films and video tapes were routinely destroyed to make room for new ones, because nobody thought anybody would want to see them again. We need to get past this destructive pattern.
Am I grateful for streaming services and the content they make available? Of course I am. But as many have said before, they could take it all away, and a show can simply vanish, leaving fans to resort to piracy just to see it, if anyone even bothered to save it beforehand.
Being dismissive of these efforts is the sort of attitude that's part of the reason media gets lost in the first place.

I submitted Kimmy into the bracket I am not surprised to see them winning round 1 but I am kind of surprised to not see as many votes for King Cave Story as I expected. So here is some propaganda for Cave Story. AKA what the hell are you doing? Why haven't you played Cave Story? It is literally free. and it is so important.
Cave Story is a 2004 indie flash game developed by Daisuke Amaya over the course of five years. Despite the fact its nearly 20 and a flash game it still really holds up and unlike most flash games that are quick and cute time wasters (which i adore) Cave Story is a full video game with so much attention to its world, mechanics, and story. Its a very well made metroidvania type game and it also has plenty of its own ideas. I also wanna stress that this game came out in 2004. That is before games like minecraft and megaman 9 brought pixel art back into the mainstream, the same year xbox live arcade started (and before it became the spot for indie games), and before nintendo was offering its old games for digital download. It is one of the indie games that started it all. Cave Story is often cited as a favorite game and source of inspiration for many indie devs even now. It started a lot of people onto making flash games and Toby Fox has taken it as a clear inspiration with both the designs of the Mimiga (which King is one of) being the inspiration for characters like Toriel, Asgore, and Asriel and also even the name undertale is meant to be a play on Cave Story (get it. under = cave tale = story?) I sadly do not have as much to say about King specifically he is a very cool character but was not one of my favorites (I hope the submitter for King can chime in for him) but I have held for a long time that we as people on tumblr and indie game fans owe a lot to Amaya and Cave Story and it is sad to me to see it go more unknown then I feel it should. So play Cave Story! its free if you can get flashpoint working and also is on many platforms with the enhanced Cave Story+. Be a little wary of the switch version though as it is double the price of the steam one which is pretty lame.

TF2: so. TF2 huh. got into it last year. i kinda lost interest because of a tf2 discord server that i ended up leaving in bad terms + no content updates + i didn't do jackshit in the fandom. i made my robot oc blog but unfortunately that one died along with my fixation! oops.
Papa Louie: the ultimate killer of my tf2 fixation. the increasing amount of "Papa Louie lore is CRAZY!" videos in my recommended feed and the eventual release of Freezeria Deluxe drawing in streamers, and then Jerma, was what finally got me to crack and give the games a go. i don't regret it, because i finally joined a fandom that i actively (? the fandom's kiiiiinda dead aha;;) participate it, after like 2 years of wandering around! it kinda faltered around July~August, but after downloading Flashpoint, it came back double the force.
Scott Pilgrim: got the books for my birthday. read them. the graphic novels haunted me for a while because it was so.... different! from what i've read up to that point. i buried it into my subconciousness but the show dug it up again. i'm not thaaaat into it though. it's a background thought thing.
Good Omens: season 2 babyyyyyy, i wasn't as into it as i was in like.... 2021? i mean, back then i read like, a shitton of GO fanfics. i think that fandom is still my most bookmarked fandom within my fic folder. season 2 was great! heartbreaking even. but as i said, i already blew my steam back in like, 2021. i didn't really have Good Omens people to talk with anyways, not that i'm confident enough to find any.
Madness Combat: was around for the 2021 boom, but my fixation came back because of the Makeship plushie thing, fight meh ok. i wonder a little if they were worth it over the Papa Louie plushie when my fixation didn't last as long (it kiiiinda does sting i had to give him up? it would be nice to own official Papa Louie merch ;;) but whateves. they're in my arms. they're very cuddly. i'm getting off-point, anyways i love these freaks, love the action in the animations, i wanna play the game but at the same time i'm not sure how well i'm gonna be able to handle the guns and the killing. eh, i'll manage, i'll live. i guess i kinda stopped being fixated because like i said, nobody to talk to since i'm a little wary about the fandom... uh, i'm sure there are a lot of nice people, but i've had peeks at what arguments people have been having and that made me decide to just lurk.
AVA/AVM: my friend was watching it and they got into it, so i got curious and i looked into it as well. they're cute little ibbly babbles, those sticks. big fan of the Animator vs Animation series especially because awoo.... it advances so much in style in each episode. V and VI especially blow shit out of the water. love it. love it. didn't really bother to get into the fandom though. i didn't see a place to sit down, so i just walked through the merchant hall and moved on. i stare at the wares every now and then though.
HLVRAI: watched it recently. it's nice. not.... really enjoyable enough for me to be a full-blown fan, but whateves. i kinda don't know why that happened to be the thing that all my mutuals were obsessed with throughout 2021 but the only reason i didn't get into it either was because i didn't finish Hal-Life 1 and i wanted to get into the game blind due to hearing that it was "the best game ever that influenced the gaming industry forever". i wonder, that if i wasn't such a wuss, would i have watched HLVRAI earlier and enjoyed it more? we'll have to see with HL2VRAI. i haven't finished HL2 either btw... sigh.

How do you maintain the delusion of being in 2012? Asking because I really need- I mean, "want" it myself.
buckle up, i'm about to break down the secret internal rules of 2012 for you, real smooth style. so smooth a little baby can swallow it down. here's some browsing music. or some more browsing music. yes they have to be the music videos.
BE UNAPOLOGETIC. do you really think anyone in 2012 on this website felt shame. this was years before internet drama culture started to really pick up (around 2014-2015) and before shipping drama apart from fandom infighting was even a twinkle in your mother's beautiful green eyes. go back to your roots. embrace the weird, embrace the ugly, embrace the cringe. yes, even that cringe. yep, that too. detach yourself from the concept of cringe entirely. e
BE KIND OF INSANE. the other side of the be unapologetic coin. to be unapologetic you have to stare into the eyes of the wild mustang that lives in your soul and come to terms with it's fighting passionate spirit. if that means going somewhere in public in full homestuck cosplay and LARPing with best buy employees, then that is what you must do. society's idea of what's right and wrong isn't real. you make the rules now. you're free.
CURATE YOUR ONLINE EXPERIENCE. this one is pretty self-explanatory, but blocking anyone you just don't want to see isn't a crime and should be done liberally and with great pleasure and gusto. you are your own web-ring. manage it with tender loving care.
i'm sure there's more but you get the gist. i have some stuff for you though, in a little goodie bag. here.
you're a homestuck fan. download pesterchum, it still works just like it did back in the day. hell, make some sprite edits, or read the comic from the very beginning, just like it was yesterday, the way it was meant to be read. there's even a working replica of the mspa forums.
if you want to take it even further, code your own website on neocities. maybe a little earlier than 2012, but there were and still are plenty floating around- and it's fun to flex those creative muscles. here's a more indepth guide. miss flash games? flashpoint has got your back. there are a ton more cool things to find- you just have to look! also delete tiktok. and twitter, if you can. you deserve better.
TL;DR: sparkle on, it's 2012! don't forget to be yourself!

The "launcher tank" from the flash game Battle Gear 2. It fires the same projectiles as the mortar infantry units, and the gun on the front is never used in-game.
Tumblr media
Well I guess it's time for me to re-download Flashpoint.
And now, here's Pixelated blast from (my) past, the "Launcher Tank".
Tumblr media
So, cast your mind back to 2009, think of all the different flash games there were. Remember them all? Of course you don't, there were so many. But you can at least remember the vibe.
The thing you see above is based on a bunch of pre-existing assets all cut together into some thing new. Notably it's got the turret body and running gear for the in-game Tiger 2. Concept wise, mounting a massive artillery piece on the back of a tracked chassis dates back to the WWI days of when a tracked fighting vehicle was a NEW and REVOLUTIONARY idea. The idea somewhat died out in the late cold war, when militaries decided that if the chassis had a little armor, then the gun crew should have some too. And so the fully enclosed, turreted SPG became the norm. (though I will mention that my two favorite vehicles of this class are the American M110 Howitzer and the Soviet 2S7 Pion)
Well In game it has about the same speed as most other tracked vehicles and- WAIT, are those interleaved road wheels!?!? NO, BAD DESIGNER, BAD. Where's my newspaper and spray bottle?
This thing has decent health in game, which is sorta incongruous with the light armor most vehicles of its type have IRL.
Mounted on the back of the vehicle is a large cannon/mortar of some sort. This doesn't have the best range. There is also an unused machine-gun in the port at the front.
The only optical gear I can see is a Tiger 2 style commander's cupola.
I can't tell how many crew this has , but you probably want at-least 3 just for the gun itself.
I Can't tell if it has any handles through all the pixels.
It cost 1000 monies in game
FINAL SCORES
Credibility: 4/10 - That’s not how it works!
Coolness: 1/10 - Ugly as Sin
BONUS
BlueMaxima's Flashpoint : so you can go and relive the mid-2000's

hey little one! do you have a PC and want a really cute way to listen to some kid-safe music?
well i have the best idea for you all! you're gonna play a game called Nick Jr. Radio! for all my bodily younger littles out there who are unfamiliar, this is a game that i grew up playing when i was little!
however, unfortunately, the game is inaccessible on the web due to the discontinuation of flash. but i'm gonna show you how you can play it! (safely!! never go to any websites that claim to have old flash games. they are unsafe!)
tutorial under the cut
Tumblr media
- first, make sure you have a PC/laptop/etc. i don't believe this works on mobile.
- next, open up google and search for "Blue Maxima Flashpoint".
- click on the first link. it should be called "Flashpoint Archive". the website should look like this!
Tumblr media
- scroll all the way down until you see the big red download button. this won't download anything automatically yet, but rather will take you to the download options! these are your options.
Tumblr media
- DO NOT DOWNLOAD THE ULTIMATE VERSION. this will automatically download every flash game that has ever been made onto your pc. not only will it take HOURS to download, it could be illegal in your country or state to have certain games in your possession! stay safe and download Flashpoint 13 Infinity! this will allow you to pick and choose the games you wanna download or play.
- go through the process of installing it. i highly recommend making a shortcut on your desktop for it so it's extra easy to get to when you wanna play
- once everythings said and done, open it up! the interface will look like this
Tumblr media
- congrats, you now have access to practically every lost flash game thats ever been archived! but for today we wanna focus on getting to Nick Jr. Radio! simply search for it in the search bar up top. this should pop up!
Tumblr media
- this is the game we want! its nice because you don't need to download this one, whereas some games on flashpoint you do. so this game wont take up any space on your pc! simply click the thumbnail and then click play on the right hand side of the screen!
- and here it is!
Tumblr media
- this game allows you listen to tons of music from nick jr shows from the 2000s/2010s! i used to play this game all the time back in the day! and now that you have flashpoint, you can simply search up nick jr and play ALL the nick jr flash games! its the perfect regression activity!
- if you actually choose to go through with this, i hope you have lots of fun! theres so many fun games and toys to discover on flashpoint!!
