Parent's Day

Ghosts didn't have a father's or mother's day as such, but they did have a day where they combined both. A day to celebrate your guardians. Humans, Yetis, Amazons or Gods, it was a quiet day to thank them for your ghost adoption.

Dan and Ellie had spent a few years under the halfa's care but at the end of the day they considered him their guardian (although Dan did it reluctantly), so when they heard about Parent's Day they panicked.

They wanted to show Danny that they really appreciated him but a mug or coupons were not enough. In the end after some brainstorming they decided to give him the closest thing to a mug that was in the Realms: Constantine's complete soul.

John Contantine was a very annoying human, they knew this because they heard Danny complain about his paperwork many times. Apparently their father had 99% of his soul but couldn't do anything until he had 100%, and what better gift than to help him get rid of the paperwork? He hated paperwork! It was perfect!

With some help from Clockwork they traveled to DC's dimension, determined to take the last of the hellblazer's soul. Dan wondered if he should steal a star from the dimension while they were there (Danny liked space didn't he?), as an extra gift.

John Constantine was in the middle of explaining the holes in reality to the Justice League when a shiver ran through his body. He had an instant bad feeling.

Power Metal reddit currently has a discussion about Nuclear Blast, about what has changed with them and why, and man I have learned a lot of disturbing facts about what has happened there in the past 5 years. Someone posted an in-depth investigative article about it (from November 2021), which you should read if you speak German and are interested, otherwise or if it's too long here are the main points...

If you're into Nightwish, Sabaton, Blind Guardian etc., this is relevant information.

In 2018, the French Believe Music, which is a large corporation that mainly specializes in digital distribution, became majority owner of NB

Believe is not really interested in physical media like CDs and vinyls even though the people who worked at NB told their new corporate overlords that metal fans like physical media, both because many fans of especially the oldest and most successful bands are 50+ and because it's more ingrained in the subculture. Believe doesn't care and doesn't listen. They have their experiences from pop and hip-hop, where phone-based streaming subscriptions are the norm, and that's all they want to know. They are also ignoring printed magazines and don't advertise there much anymore.

Less focus on physical media means that bands now earn less, that they rank less highly in album charts, which in turn means that they lose negotiation power when they try to plan tours and negotiate with venues etc., because they "look" less successful

Believe has been dealing with this by signing mainly bands that are easy to market digitally and ending co-operations with bands that aren't, even ones that had been with NB for decades (like Rage and Nile, who went to Napalm)

The personal cooperation between bands and NB has really suffered, everything is more profit-oriented and impersonal, a lot of budgets have been decreased and the real decisions are made by Believe in Paris, not by any specific NB team

Believe has been stock market traded since 2021. Their stock value went down at first, was at about the price it had started out at when the article was written - I looked it up and in March 23 it's down 40% from its original value. Ouch.

The original founder of NB started a new label, Atomic Fire, and took "Amorphis, Helloween, Opeth, Sonata Arctica, Meshuggah, Primal Fear, Agnostic Front, Rise Of The Northstar, Silver Lake, White Stones and Michael Schenker Group" with him, also because Believe didn't really do much to keep many of these bands

It's certainly interesting to learn about, also because I had already wondered if NB, and some of their bands, had intentionally taken a more "commercial" approach in recent years, but I didn't know about the Believe thing. I thought it maybe had something to do with losses from the pandemic or something. Turns out they have a new owner.

oh nah, nightmare was pretty upfront about it. that's why dream would try to convince the others nightmare isn't a bad person but that would make some kids misunderstand and start doubting dream - which is what lead to dream getting bullied.

nightmare describes the harassment towards himself really goofily though, something along the lines of "oh btw dream, some kids tried to insult me but used the wrong grammar lol" "but nightmare! that's awful D:"

i should clarify the kids who mistreated both of them aren't that stupid though. the way they bullied each brother is different.

nightmare's was pretty straightforward, he got called suspicious, untrustworthy, a bad omen, etc.

dream's on the other hand, was more sneaky. they took advantage of his kindness and dream thought it was okay because he's the guardian of positivity. that sense of duty to keep being optimistic and happy is why dream hid his feelings.

I said if u squint it looks that way, I understand that it's not the intention bud. And ur probably not the only one but it's certainly a niche opinion. Like I've been racking my brain to think of reasons the artist might want to make it look like he was painting on a meat canvas and none of them are particularly flattering to ol king chuck. The artist wanted the military uniform to fade into the background to bring the man himself into better focus and humanise him. Which. yeah trying to cover over their violent history by humanising themselves is certainly what the royal family are going for these days so shoutout to the artist for getting the assignment ig lmao. Almost forgot, gotta explain karma and colors !

So you may have noticed in the chao doodles the "positive karma" and "negative karma" chao, and then in the Knuckles doodles, his hyper form is looking.. a bit dark, not quite as heroic as you'd think, right ?

Well that comes down a value known as karma.

Here's an excerpt from my google doc : "Karma is an ever-changing value assigned to everything in the world. Karmic charge is defined on a spectrum of positive and negative based on the person/thing, their circumstances, and ancestry. It affects the physical appearance of certain things, like transformations and chao forms. It does nothing else."

So while it is a thing that exists in the world, it has pretty much 0 impact on the story of the AU ! It's a tool for visual design basically.

See, chao, they're pure chaos energy, and depending on who they're raised by, their karmic value is changed. For example, Knuckles and Shadow will always raise negative karma chao, despite not being evil or anything, because their karmic value is far in the negative zone. Someone like Fang on the other hand, who yes is a villain, will raise positive karma chao.

Does that make sense ?

Visual identifiers of negative karma are webbed wings, crescent or eclipsed moons, purple and dark blue, darker colors in general. And for positive karma, you'll see segmented wings ( not sure how to explain but not all feathered wings count ), sun or star shapes, light blue, maybe burgundy, light colors.

A note on colors : basic chaos energy is colored emerald green, and ring energy is, unsurprisingly, gold. You'll tend to see gold often in my transformation designs.
