Bay Leaf Anti-Aging Massage Cream: A Homemade Recipe for Youthful Skin
Bay leaves are a staple in kitchens and are used to enhance the flavor of soups, stews, and curries. You may not be aware, though, that they also offer some amazing benefits for your appearance. Bay leaves include essential oils, antioxidants, and anti-inflammatory compounds that can help to improve the appearance of your skin. One way to employ bay leaves for cosmetic purposes is to make your own massage cream that fights aging. This cream is easy to make and may be tailored to your specific skin type.
Ingredients:
5–6 dried bay leaves 1/2 cup almond oil (or any carrier oil of your choice) 1–2 tablespoons shea butter 1 tablespoon beeswax 10–15 drops of essential oil (optional for fragrance and added benefits)
Instructions:
In order to liberate the aromatic oils that are the key to the bay leaves' skincare magic, begin by crushing the dried bay leaves. You may either use a mortar and pestle to smash them or just crumble them by hand.
Tumblr media
2. Blending almond oil and crushed or powdered bay leaves requires the use of a double boiler or a heat-resistant bowl placed over a saucepan of simmering water. Infuse the ingredients gradually for 20 to 30 minutes, being careful not to let the oil boil.
Tumblr media
3. After the infusion has ended, filter the oil to remove any remaining bay leaf slivers. You'll be left with an oil that has absorbed the leaf's fragrance. Don't forget that if you wish to preserve the remaining bits of bay leaf in the oil, you don't have to remove them.
4. After the shea butter and beeswax have warmed up, the infused oil is added. Gently whisk the mixture until all of the ingredients are mixed and melted.
5. Now is the time to add 10 to 15 drops of your preferred essential oil if you want to create a captivating aroma. Lavender, rose, and chamomile are popular choices; however, if your nose and heart are drawn to a certain perfume, go with it.
6. Pour the liquid carefully into an uncontaminated, airtight container after allowing the fluid to cool and harden.
The Ritual of Self-Love: A Refreshing Massage
Rub your body with your personal Bay Leaf Anti-Aging Cream before bath or shower. Apply the right amount, then gently massage your skin in circular motions with your hands. This technique not only benefits your skin but also makes you feel relaxed.
Conclusion
It's not necessary to use harsh chemicals or pricey cosmetics in order to have young, healthy skin. The benefits of nature are vast, and bay leaves are just one of them. By making your own DIY Bay Leaf Body Massage Anti-Aging Cream, you can set out on a journey to discover your own natural beauty and the healing properties of basic, all-natural ingredients. Give your skin a treat with this fantastic pack and let nature's age-old elixir work its magic. Never forget that caring for your skin is more than simply a daily chore; it's an opportunity to show your love and gratitude for the beautiful body that supports us on our journeys through life.

I was asked about what dishes you should never offer to Daedric Princes by a follower who's probably a little too curious for their own good. Here's an interesting question I certainly have not thought of, because I generally try not to invoke the wrath of Daedric Princes! However, if you really want to potentially bring the punishment of Oblivion down upon yourself, please feel free to try the following...
Mehrunes Dagon
Instead of fiery destruction, I propose something...cute. A classic chilled custard tart topped with warm berry compote and some Hammerfell-style rose-and-vanilla pashmak is bound to melt hearts, just not in the way one of his Dremora would.
Peryite
I love making healthy foods just as much as indulgent dishes, and as the popular adage goes, an apple a day keeps Peryite away! A classic rucola and feta salad with a balsamic and Cyrodiilic olive oil can be made even better with an extra handful of spinach, a sprinkle of fresh pomegranate, halved walnuts, avocado and cucumber slices, and a few diced apple pieces! Simply delectable, and sure to keep scurvy and pestilence at bay.
Molag Bal
What should you not offer the Daedric Prince of domination and creator of vampires? Probably a soft, delicate vegetarian dish. A Breton vegetable quiche with an all-butter crust, goose eggs, sun-dried tomatoes, delicate baby spinach, fresh chanterelle mushrooms, squash, lots of garlic, and a spot of chevre. Mouth-wateringly good, this little beauty makes for an excellent meal at any time of day, and is bound to make Molag Bal sneer.
Namira
I'm going to be a little cheeky here and turn something gross and creepy into something delicious that even the fussiest nobles I've served love: garlic butter snails. Namira's followers are known to chow down on live, raw snails, shells and all, but I prefer mine with a garlicky gratin and a sprinkle of cave-aged West Weald parmesan. Oh, and don't forget to eat them with a fancy silver snail fork like a proper diva!
Boethiah
Plots? Destruction? Snakes? Not with this dish! What you see is what you get with a traditional Nord bread-and-butter pudding! It's a great way to use up your leftover bread scraps and stale butter, and is one of Tamriel's most satisfying desserts in my humble opinion. Served with hot custard and dried snowberries, this pudding is the perfect, least deceptive dish I can imagine.
Hircine
You were spot on with a salad, but let me raise the bar a little. Not just any salad will do, but you'll want all your ingredients to be gently cultivated by hand and farmed, as opposed to wild foraged. Iceberg lettuce and pink pear salad with some crumbled goat cheese and honey hits the spot, but how about topped with some marbled fatty beef? The historic Gweden Farm near Anvil has won countless awards for its pampered cows who are given a daily massage and the best fresh grass and Cyrodiilic grain. Domesticated, happy, and wonderful...unless you're a hunter, that is.
Hermaeus Mora
You'd have to be downright stupid to try a traditional Argonian worm bowl unless you're Saxhleel, and even then, most of them don't want to touch this nasty, wriggling dish. Fresh, live mealworms and kotu gava eggs are drowned in a fermented blood worm sauce, with shredded catapult cabbage and flame-grilled, toxic haj mota flesh. I once commented that it looked a little like Hermaeus Mora himself, before taking a tentative nibble and spending the rest of the day throwing up in the swamp. Please don't try this. It's the dumbest dish in Tamriel, and a pox on whichever Argonian invented it.
Sheogorath
No cheese or strawberry torte here! In fact, the least madness-inducing food I can think of is a nice, mild pistachio ice cream profiterole, dipped in sweet milk chocolate and topped with fresh nuts is the perfect Breton summer treat, yet far too boring for the Prince of Madness to bother with. Which leads us to...
Sanguine
I really dislike coming up with bland, mundane dishes for the occasional fussy eater I come across during my travels. Sanguine, Prince of hedonistic pleasures, probably lurks over my shoulder at the average feast I throw, so I admit I was a bit stumped here...until I remembered my Granny Matilda's chicken noodle soup. As basic as soups come, this simple broth is made by boiling leftover chicken carcasses for a night and a day, and served with plain egg noodles. The perfect food for when you're feeling under the weather, or have the palate of a small Nord child.
Malacath
Altmer cuisine seems like a good way to get Malacath really mad, because it's basically the antithesis of what he stands for. Delicate Quicksilver Lingwe cerviche with a yuzu drizzle and Crystal Hannia caviar, with a light avocado mousse flavoured with apple blossom? A sensory delight, and bound to make any Malacath-respecting Orc gag.
Jyggalag
Fried, hand-pulled buckwheat noodles with a spicy Pellitine-style curry sauce is a good way to make this Prince quite cross with you. Not only is it messy to eat, but your furniture will likely suffer bright orange and yellow stains from the turmeric and tomatoes, and your bowels will also be as tangled as the noodles after consuming a fiery Khajiiti curry.
Vaermina
So mundane and boring, you're definitely not bound to have any dreams or nightmares about a bowl of saltrice porridge with comberry preserves and scrib jerky. The staple food of the common Dunmer, it's tasty enough to eat on a daily basis, but hardly the stuff dreams are made of.
Mephala
This spidery Prince enjoys interfering with us mortals, so it's time to fight back with a dish that'll probably make most other Daedric Princes frown too. Imperial food is famous for its balanced flavours, textures, and fresh ingredients, and a Gold Coat seafood stew is a vibrant dish bursting with the best fresh fish, mussels, lobster, and crabmeat the region has to offer. Mild but but with a tangy punch from the sun-dried tomato based soup and a dash of crisp white wine, this is a dish that both young and old enjoy across Cyrodiil.
Meridia
Charred jerk wild boar stuffed with timber mammoth cheese and a delicious bloody jus-and-honey sauce is sure to make any Bosmer's mouth water! It's definitely dead, it's definitely cooked, and it's definitely bound to disappoint Meridia. Just a warning- try this for a laugh and you'll never be able to get rid of her beacon.
Azura
By Azura, please don't offer this to the Lady of Dawn and Dusk unless you want to irreparably have your race changed! Love and devotion is what this Prince craves, so why not damage yourself with a fiery Dunmeri Vvardenfell fondue, made from scuttle, crab meat, and extremely spicy fire petal blossoms? Enjoyed by the most pain-seeking of Dunmer, my version comes with fried hackle-lo leaf and saltrice-and-wickwheat bread for dipping. It'll have your guts in a twist for days, which is the price to pay for this deliciously hot "cheese" dish. Oh, and did I mention that it's best washed down with a nice cup of Vivec's Gingergreen Chai?
Nocturnal
There's absolutely nothing dark about a Redguard sun-jelly, made with fresh fruits from coastal Hammerfell. Coconut, palm fruit, watermelon, and bananas are the stars of the show in this dessert, set in a chilled agar jelly that keeps the heat at bay. The fanciest Redguards love mixing edible gold flakes into the jelly itself, giving it a delightful luster that is sure to put a smile on your face and chase the shadows away.
Clavicus Vile
You're not going to want to strike any bargain to give up a delicious baked chub loon gratin with echatere cheese, over hasselback potatoes and crispy radish chips. This Orcish delicacy is surprisingly so good it's even tickled the fancy of the fussiest eaters in Tamriel! The chub loon meat is juicy and melts in the mouth, and the echatere cheese melted into the cracks of a hasselback potato are wonderful with radish chips for dipping. Admit it, you're drooling aren't you?

Recipe how to prepare pork arista
Tumblr media
The pork arista is a piece of the pig's back, but not only. There are several places where pieces of meat can be obtained, such as sirloin, fillet and loin. It is also prepared from the piece of ribs, removing the bone. It can be prepared in many ways, all tasty and tasty. It is usually cooked as a whole piece, in the oven, in a saucepan with various contours. Below are some recipes.
Milk pork arista
A second dish really tasty and very easy to prepare. As a side dish I would propose baked potatoes. Ingredients for 4 people 800 grams of pork arista in one piece. 1 litre whole milk 50 grams of butter to flavor I use a chopped sage, rosemary, garlic, salt and pepper. Preparation melt the butter in a saucepan. As soon as it is melted, put the arista and turn it often to brown evenly all sides of the meat. It will take about 10/15 minutes. Season with a couple of teaspoons of the chopped sage, rosemary, garlic salt and pepper. Now add the milk and cook over low heat for about an hour or until the milk has almost completely thickened. Not quite, however, because the remaining sauce will go to flavor the slices of meat when you have cut them, before bringing them to the table.
Pork arista with beer
This is a somewhat laborious and quite long recipe, but the end result of this dish will certainly amaze you. Needed 1 kilograms of pork arista in one piece. 80 grams of bacon, finely sliced. 1 onion 1 rib of celery 1 carrot 1 litre of light beer. 1 garlic clove 2 sprigs rosemary some black pepper corn a few sage leaves olive oil just enough salt as needed some juniper berries a tablespoon of flour type 00 Preparation The day before we have to prepare the roast and marinate it all night. Wrap the piece of pork arista in the bacon slices and tie it with a string. Place a sprig of rosemary under the string. Prepare the carrot, celery and onion by cutting them into not very large pieces. In a large bowl put the meat already prepared with bacon, vegetable pieces, juniper berries and some black peppercorns. Cover with beer, close the bowl with cling film, refrigerate and leave to marinate overnight. The next day remove the meat and dry it well. Leave the marinade, which will serve later for cooking the roast. To give flavor to the meat I use a chopped sage, rosemary, garlic, salt and pepper. Then pass on on the meat a fair amount of this compound by massaging the meat with your hands to make it absorb better to the meat. Put a few tablespoons of olive oil and the meat in a saucepan, turning it around often and browning it well from all sides. It will take about 10/15 minutes. At this point add the marinade vegetables. Cook for a few minutes and then slowly add the marinade beer until the roast is cooked. Cook for about an hour over a low heat. When cooked, remove the roast from the cooking bottom. Blend the bottom with the vegetables with a mixer until you get a sauce. Put it again on the heat with a tablespoon of flour to thicken it. This sauce will serve to flavor the slices of cut meat, before bringing them to the table.
The classic pork arista recipe
This is the classic way pork arista is cooked in Tuscany. Needed 1 kilograms of pork arista in one piece 1 glass of dry white wine 1 garlic clove 30 grams of butter a couple of sprigs of rosemary olive oil just enough salt and pepper just enough Preparation Prepare the piece of arista, possibly removing the excess fat meat and tying it with a kitchen string. Tap the meat at a regular distance over the surface and tuck into the cut pieces of chopped garlic and a few needles of rosemary. A whole sprig put it under the string in contact with the meat. At this point in a baking saucepan put the butter and a couple of tablespoons of olive oil and brown the meat well from all sides. It's going to take about 10 minutes. Wet the meat with half a glass of wine and let it evaporate. Now put the casserole in the oven already hot at 180 degrees for about 30 minutes, then add the other half of the wine and let cook for another half an hour. Occasionally turn the roast and moisten it with the cooking bottom. The roast pork arista is ready, wait about ten minutes before slicing the roast to bring it to the table. Also for this recipe the ideal side dish is the potatoes in pieces cooked in the oven.
Pork arista in crust
For this recipe I make a premise, that is, with regard to puff pastry. Preparing it at home is quite difficult and would deserve a recipe of its own, so my advice is to buy it ready. It is safely found in all supermarkets. Needed 1 kilograms of pork arista in one piece. 1 roll of ready-made puff pastry 1 carrot 1 onion 1 celery stalk 180 grams of sliced pork belly half a glass of white wine 1 egg yolk salt, pepper and olive oil as required Preparation Prepare a rather fine mince with the onion, carrot and celery stalk. Put it in a saucepan with a little olive oil and fry until golden brown. Add the meat at this point and brown well on all sides. Put the white wine and let it evaporate completely. Season with salt and pepper and after a fortnight remove the heat from the heat and allow to cool. When it is cold, wrap the meat with the slices of bacon. With the roll of puff pastry wrap the meat with bacon and try to close it completely. Brush the surface with the beaten egg yolk and place in the oven already hot at 180 degrees for about 40 minutes. The roast in the crust is ready, let it pass 15/20 minutes before cutting it, so the slices will remain compact. The ideal side dish for this dish are both the classic baked potatoes, and a creamy mashed potato.
Orange Arista
A very refined second dish and also very good. The meat needs a marinade of about 3 hours so it is good, if you want to prepare it for dinner, start in the morning. Needed 1 kilogram of pork arista in one piece. 5 oranges 50 grams butter 1 tablespoon flour a few bay leaves a glass of dry white wine 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar 1 tbsp plain flour 1 garlic clove salt and pepper just enough Preparation Squeeze an orange by removing the seeds. Put the grated peel of a whole orange in the juice. Add salt and pepper to the meat, massaging with your hands to penetrate well, put rosemary and bay leaf in this sauce and the meat to marinate for about 3 hours. In these three hours turn the meat at least every half hour to make it flavor. If you have more time you can marinate the roast even a whole night. In a rather large saucepan melt the butter with the garlic clove that just golden will be removed. Add the meat already marinated and turn it often brown it all over the place. At this point put the white wine and let it evaporate completely. Squeeze the juice of 3 oranges and add it to the balsamic vinegar and a glass of water. Add this juice to the meat and simmer for at least two hours adding a little water if the sauce tends to dry out too much. Take the meat out of the heat and wrap it in foil. This will prevent the meat from drying out too much. And now let's make the sauce. Take the cooking liquid and filter it with a strainer. Add the flour, put it on the heat and make it thicken a little. The cream obtained will go to flavor the slices of meat, along with a few slices of orange, before bringing them to the table.
Pork arista with apples
A dish with an unusual flavor, but one that will captivate everyone. Needed: 1 kilogram pork arista in one piece 4 golden apples half a litre of meat broth even die 1 glass of white wine 2 sprigs rosemary 1 garlic clove Salt, olive oil and pepper just enough. Preparation Peel the apples and chop them up quite small pieces. Now chop the rosemary and mix with a little salt and a pinch of pepper. With this mixture massage with your hands the meat to better flavor it. In a saucepan fry the garlic clove, which you will remove when it is golden and add the meat, turning it often so that it cooks evenly on all sides. It's going to take about 15 minutes. Now add the white wine and let it evaporate completely. Add the apples in pieces to the meat, drizzle with the already hot broth and cook over low heat for about an hour covering with a lid and turning the meat often to make it flavor ingest on all sides. When cooked remove the meat from the saucepan and pass with a mixer the sauce of broth and apples to obtain a sauce enough liquid that you will then put on the slices of meat before bringing to the table. To finish this type of roast is the ideal completion for our Sunday lunches or when we have guests. It is yummy and tasty and can be prepared with various side dishes. It is a recipe suitable more for winter or autumn than for summer because of the heat. Read the full article

Here’s Why I am Obsessed with the Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Moisturizer
Reading Time: 5 minutes
Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Moisturizer Review.
Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Moisturizer Review
Last year, when I was doing a little bit of shopping at Sephora I ended up leaving with a tiny sample of the Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Moisturizer.
I’ll be honest, that little sample sat in my cabinet for weeks. Who knows, maybe it was months. All I know is that when I finally saw it sitting there and tried it out – I knew I would be making a quick trip to Sephora.
Since then, it’s been my favourite moisturizer. It’s creamy, hydrating, soothing, and super luxurious feeling on the skin.
  Packaging:
I love and hate the Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Moisturizer packaging.
On one hand, I appreciate the airless jar.
These kinds of jars ensure that the actual product won’t come in contact with outside contaminants (like when you dip your fingers into other moisturizers), that it’s protected from the sun, and also that the product doesn’t oxidize. This means the ingredients will remain stable and more active longer. I mean, that is smart – right?
This kind of jar ensures that the product you get when you first buy it is the product that you’ll continue to get over months of use.
But, I hate that you can’t actually remove this lid, without being quite aggressive, to access the last bits of the product. I think there should be a twist-off option so that you can easily scrape out the remaining amount moisturizer before it’s time to replace it.

First in your skincare routine, you’ll want to remove your makeup, cleanse and tone your skin, then apply 1 pump of the Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Moisturizer to your skin.
I really like apply this all over and then following up by using my jade rollers to really massage the moisturizer into my skin.
Drunk Elephant also recommends that you add your other favourite DE products to this moisturizer when you apply it. Here’s what they say on Sephora.com:
“Try Drunk Elephant’s “All Night Long” Smoothie for intense moisture and a smoother complexion. Mix one pump Lala Retro
Tumblr media
with one pump T.L.C Framboos
Tumblr media
and one to two drops Virgin Marula Oil.”

  My Skin Type
I’ve talked about my skin a number of times on the UU. For the most part, my skin is pretty normal-balanced.  But, during the winter my skin always gets a bit drier and sometimes it can cause my eczema to flare up. When it does my skin becomes dry, flaky, red, and sore.
This winter has been particularly harsh and my skin has definitely been affected by it. It’s been really dry which has been causing it to peel, and during times like these, I need a moisturizer that’s quite intense and rich.
Lately, I’ve been finding myself reaching for the Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Moisturizer in both the AM and PM. While it is a super-rich cream, it doesn’t make my skin feel overly tacky/sticky. It does have a residue, but it’s more of a soft velvety feel on the skin.
Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Moisturizer Review
Summary and Review:
My skin LOVES this moisturizer.
I recently also ordered the Drunk Elephant Protini moisturizer, so we’ll see how they compare. But for now, this one is incredible and I cannot get enough of it. It makes my skin feel soft, moisturized, and smooth. I really feel like this has been a game-changer for my skin this winter.
Since this winter has been so harsh, and my skin has been so sensitive and dry-prone, I am really glad I’ve found a product that has helped soothe my skin and kept the dryness and flakiness at bay. It’s really helped my skin remain much more balanced and smooth even though the weather has been so brutal these last few weeks.
Since this is such a heavy moisturizer, I imagine in the next few months I’ll be using this more as a night-time moisturizing cream only and switching it out for something lighter in the AM. Who knows, maybe the Protini will become my AM and the Lala will be my PM moisturizer!

Eat Lots Of Fresh Produce For Beautiful, Healthy Skin
It may seem a bit complicated to implement a proper beauty regimen into your daily life, but if you arm yourself with knowledge, it can really be fun. If you're unsure of what you should be doing, you can hurt your look more than you help it. No need to worry, the information below can help.
Wash your face before going to sleep. This will remove all the impurities and dirt from the day. Use a makeup remover first, to remove your makeup, then use a face wash. If you don't cleanse your face before bed, your pores can get clogged and cause pimples or spots.
Apply eye shadow to seal in eyeliner. When you are making up your eyes, apply your liner before your eye shadow. Then, when applying the shadow, slightly dampen a cotton swab and add some eye shadow. Smooth this over the liner and you will find it lasts much longer.
Drinking milk each day should become an essential part of any beauty regimen you are following. It has been proven that milk provides your bones, skin and body with benefits. Also, you can gain a lot of muscle if you drink milk. It can also help you retain a lower weight. Milk is a necessity to keep your body healthy.
Apply a lotion or cream containing sunscreen every day. You have to live your whole life with the same skin and it is worth the investment to protect it. You should start off each day with a coat of sunscreen before you even think of going outside. Your skin will thank you.
Consider using a purple eye shadow, rather than black or brown. Black and brown can be boring. Purple can really make your eyes pop. Purple eyeshadow is not as bold as you might think. From a distance, it will look like a black or a brown. Even so, it will give your eyes a little extra something.
Remove the arch from your eyebrows if you have a problem with dark circles under your eyes. The arch in your eyebrows can create a circular look around your eyes. This can exaggerate any dark circles you might already have. To remedy this, just tweeze your eyebrows so that they are straighter.
If you have time for nothing else, focus on your eyebrows. Sometimes you might not have time to do your makeup. This is fine. However, if you still want to pull a look together, try focusing on your eyebrows. Shape them, brush them and be sure to fill them in. Eyebrows are often the focus of your face.
To prevent grey hairs, try eating curry leaf chutney. The leaf chutney aids in the formation of pigmented cells that color your hair. You really just need to eat one teaspoon.
Keep the back of your head top priority when styling your hair. This area is harder to style and if you're tired once you get around to that area it can ruin your whole look.
By taking 10 minutes a week to care for your nails it will help your appearance greatly. This is especially true for men, who very often neglect their nails and cuticles. A little regular maintenance results in much-improved hands. At the very least, nails should be cleaned thoroughly; they should be moisturized; and the cuticles should be gently pushed back.
You may not have stuck your finger in an electrical socket, but your hair frizzes might suggest you had. To tame these nasty beasts, you will want to add moisture to your hair. Stay away from hairspray as it has alcohol that dries the hair. Apply hair serum to damp hair to lock in the moisture, and keep uncontrolled hair at bay.
Give yourself a mini facial using a mask made from an egg white and a dash of lemon juice. Leave the mask on for about two minutes, and then rinse. This gives your skin an instant tightening effect and is ideal to do about an hour before an evening out on the town.
Help reduce the appearance of the dark shadows and bags around your eyes by giving yourself a bit of a massage. Use some good moisturizer on your fingertips and massage around the eye area. It assists with lymphatic drainage around your eyes and will reduce the appearance of the damage.
If you have ever had the problem of your eyeliner smearing or crumbling as you try to apply it, try putting it in the freezer for about 15 minutes before you need to use it. This will firm up the tip so the eyeliner goes on smoothly, and you won't have the resulting crumbles or smears.
After reading this article, the hope is that you can now see how simple and fun beauty regimens can truly be if you give them a chance. You need to research and practice various techniques, but it's worth it. You should feel more comfortable and educated towards developing your own regimen with the help of the tips from above.

Wake Up To Flawless Skin Every Day with OMVED’s Gotu Kola Gold Leaf Night Cream

Wake Up To Flawless Skin Every Day with OMVED’s Gotu Kola Gold Leaf Night Cream
Tanya Arora January 2, 2019
I didn’t have to wait long for my big panic moment to strike. Turning 30 did it for me! I had read somewhere that wrinkles can begin to appear after the age of 30 but I wasn’t ready to look old yet! I had also read that the loss of skin’s collagen is to blame for this and that having a collagen-rich diet or using collagen-rich skincare products could help.
Now I’m not much of a fan of dieting so I decided to go down the route of collagen-rich skincare products. But as it turns out, there are not many such products in the market that contain collagen and are chemical free. Now this is a problem for me as I only use organic and/or Ayurvedic products!
Fortunately, after some research I was able to find an Ayurvedic, collagen-rich night cream that could ease my panic attacks and prevent the first signs of aging from setting in. OMVED’s Gotu Kola Gold Leaf Night Cream fit in what I was looking for and even surpassed my expectations!
But to know more about how this amazing anti-aging night cream can turn back the clock, you will have to read my review of it, so let’s get started!
OMVED’s Gotu Kola Night Cream is light and effective
BUY NOW
Priced at INR 1290/- for a tub of 40gm, this cream is on the pricier side. But trust me when I say this, your skin deserves the luxury it brings to your skincare regime!
OMVED’s Gotu Kola Gold Leaf Night Cream boasts of an impressive, all natural and even exotic list of ingredients, which you can see in the screenshot below-
Moving on to the packaging of the night cream, it comes in a simple glass tub with a twist lid. Once you open the jar, you are greeted by this rich and yet light creamy concoction in white that smells absolutely divine! It’s a mild aroma but it’s very fresh and beautiful.
Talking about the application procedure of this night cream, you simply have to rub it in gentle circular motions on your cleansed face at night before sleeping. Continue massaging the cream till it completely seeps into your skin.
Now, coming to my experience with Omved’s Gotu Kola Gold Leaf Night Cream, I can sum it up in one word – Amazing! The Gotu Kola night cream is extremely hydrating, thereby eliminating any tiny wrinkles that may appear due to skin dryness.
The key ingredient of the cream, the Gotu Kola plant or what is also known as Asiatic or Indian Pennywort, is loaded with anti-aging properties and helps keep different signs of aging such as dullness, dark spots, wrinkles etc. at bay.
That’s not all though. This completely natural, chemical-free Gotu Kola is extremely rich in collagen. So once the cream is absorbed into the deepest layers of my skin, it starts working its magic by boosting my skin’s natural collagen and elastin production.
The Gotu Kola night cream also contains Macadamia and Wheat Germ Oil, which help in improving upon and reducing existing wrinkles while making my skin smooth and supple. I’ve been using it for 2 weeks now and my skin feels firmer yet softer, radiating with warm glow!
Every time I apply it at night and wake up the next morning, I can actually see and feel the difference OMVED’s Night Cream is making to my skin. My skin has never looked so soft, supple and radiant before! The compliments just keep pouring in!
If I had to give this night cream a rating, I would give it 10/10. Yes, it’s really that good! Try it for yourself and you’ll know.

10 Simple Homemade Moisturizers For Dry Skin
Does your skin feel uncomfortably tight right after you walk out of the shower? And does the dry feeling refuse to go away even after you have tried all the products available on the market?
Treating dry skin can be truly annoying. But the good news is, I have got you covered. Nothing can make your skin as happy as natural ingredients. I have shared some simple DIY recipes of natural moisturizers for dry skin that you can make at home. Let’s get started!
10 Best Natural Moisturizers For Dry Skin DIY Shea Butter Daily Face Moisturizer For Dry Skin Natural Face Oil Moisturizer For Dry Skin Beeswax Moisturizer For Dry Skin Gentle Aloe Vera Moisturizer For Dry Skin DIY Nourishing Face And Body Cream For Dry Skin DIY Honey And Glycerin Moisturizer For Dry Skin Natural Face Moisturizer For Dry Skin Nourishing Day Cream For Dry Skin DIY Gentle And Hydrating Moisturizer For Dry Skin Revitalizing Hibiscus Moisturizer For Dry Skin Note: The ingredients mentioned in the recipes are easily available on the market, or you can buy them online. One thing you should keep in mind is that since these are all natural products, their shelf life is very limited. So, avoid making them in big batches. Instead, prepare them in small batches and use them within a month before they go rancid.
1. DIY Shea Butter Daily Face Moisturizer For Dry Skin
You Will Need
½ cup shea butter 6-7 drops sea buckthorn oil 6-7 drops rosehip seed oil 6-7 drops geranium oil 1 teaspoon avocado oil Method Melt the shea butter in a double boiler**. Once it has softened, remove it from the heat. Add avocado oil and mix. Add the essential oils and whip the mixture well until it develops a creamy texture. Store it in a glass jar and use it as your daily face cream. Why This Works Sea buckthorn oil is extremely effective in treating eczema and soothes dry and itchy skin (1). Rosehip seed, geranium, and avocado oils have an equally soothing effect on your dry skin while shea butter keeps it moisturized and nourished.
To make a double boiler, pour some water in a saucepan and place it on the stove. Place a heat-proof glass container that fits snugly over the saucepan. Once the water starts simmering, keep the butter on the glass container and let it melt. Keep stirring until it melts.
2. Natural Face Oil Moisturizer For Dry Skin You Will Need ½ cup argan oil (you can also take jojoba oil or hempseed oil) ½ teaspoon emu oil 4-6 drops essential oil (lemongrass, rose geranium, rose, chamomile, palmarosa, rosemary, lavender, or peppermint) Method Take a glass bottle and pour argan oil into it. Add the other oils to the argan oil and mix well. Use the blend to massage your skin. Why This Works Argan oil is light and suitable for soothing dry skin. Emu oil is a natural emollient that helps in locking moisture in your skin and heals it from within. Essential oils (the listed ones) have an overall healing effect, especially for dry and sensitive skin.
3. Beeswax Moisturizer For Dry Skin
You Will Need ¼ cup beeswax pellets ½ cup coconut oil ½ cup olive oil 10 drops essential oil (patchouli, Roman chamomile, vanilla, sandalwood, frankincense, clary sage, lavender, or geranium oil) Method Use a double boiler to melt the beeswax. Once it melts, remove it from the boiler and let it cool. Add the coconut and olive oils and whip well. Add the essential oil(s). Whip the mixture well until you get a creamy texture. Transfer the mixture to a glass jar and store it in a cool and dry place (do not refrigerate). Why This Works Both beeswax and olive oil heal skin conditions such as atopic dermatitis (eczema) (2). Coconut oil provides added moisturization to your skin, and essential oils promote further healing.
4. Gentle Aloe Vera Moisturizer For Dry Skin You Will Need 1 cup aloe vera gel (use store-bought gel or scoop out the gel from an aloe leaf) 12 tablespoons beeswax ¼ cup coconut oil ¼ cup almond oil 10 drops essential oil(s) (pick any from the oils mentioned in the above recipes) Method Melt the beeswax, coconut, and almond oils in a double boiler. Pour the oils into a blender and let the mixture cool down. Add the essential oils and the aloe vera gel. Blend until you get a creamy texture. Store the mixture a glass jar. You can even store it in the refrigerator. Why This Works Aloe vera soothes your skin and reduces inflammation (itches and dry patches). Beeswax heals your skin and keeps it moisturized, and essential oils prevent infection and help in healing your skin.
5. DIY Nourishing Face And Body Cream For Dry Skin
You Will Need ½ cup shea butter 2 tablespoons almond oil 5 drops rosemary essential oil 10 drops lavender essential oil 3 drops tea tree essential oil 3 drops carrot seed essential oil Method Melt the shea butter in a double boiler. Add almond oil after it melts and turn the burner off. Let the mixture cool (but do not let it solidify) and then add the essential oils. Whip the mixture well. You can use a whisker or blend it in a mixer (for a few seconds). Scoop out the creamy mixture into a glass jar. Store it at room temperature. Massage the cream on your body and face. Why This Works The essential oils protect your skin cells. All these oils have antiseptic properties that heal infections and prevent skin damage and rashes caused by excessive dryness. Shea butter and almond oil keep your skin moisturized and nourished.
6. DIY Honey And Glycerin Moisturizer For Dry Skin You Will Need 1 teaspoon honey 2 teaspoons glycerin 1 teaspoon lemon juice (diluted) 2 teaspoons green tea Method Mix all the ingredients well. Massage the mixture gently on your skin for a few minutes. Leave it on overnight. Wash it off the next day. Why This Works Glycerin and honey are humectants that keep your skin moisturized and hydrated. Lemon brightens up your skin while the green tea calms your skin and keeps infection at bay.
Note: Lemon juice may not suit everyone, so do a patch test first. You can skip adding lemon juice altogether if you want to.
7. Natural Face Moisturizer For Dry Skin
You Will Need 1 teaspoon chamomile tea (or dried chamomile flowers) ½ cup water 1 tablespoon lanolin 1 tablespoon beeswax ½ cup sweet almond oil 1 vitamin A capsule 1 vitamin E capsule 3 drops geranium essential oil Method Put the chamomile tea (or flowers) in the water, simmer for 10 minutes and strain the liquid. Melt the lanolin (if you are not using liquid lanolin) and beeswax in a double boiler. Let the mixture cool down. Add the chamomile brew. Pierce the vitamin capsules and squeeze the liquid into the mixture. Keep stirring and then add the essential oil. Whip it well until you get a creamy texture. Transfer the mixture to a glass jar and store it in a cool and dark place. Massage on your body and face as and when required. Why This Works This homemade cream provides intense hydration to your skin. Chamomile has anti-inflammatory properties that have a softening and soothing effect on irritated skin (3). Almond oil and beeswax provide nourishment to your skin and prevent drying.
8. Nourishing Day Cream For Dry Skin You Will Need 3 tablespoons sweet almond oil 1 tablespoon avocado oil 3 teaspoon beeswax 2 drops lavender essential oil 2 tablespoons mineral water 1 drop peppermint essential oil Method Melt the beeswax and the oils in a double boiler. Warm the mineral water (don’t boil) and slowly add it to the molten beeswax and oil mix. Keep stirring. Remove the beeswax from the heat once it melts and let it cool down. Add the essential oils and whip vigorously. Scoop out the cream into a glass jar and store it in a cool, dry place. Use it as a day cream. Why This Works Avocado and almond oils contain UV filters that protect your skin from the harmful UV rays while keeping it moisturized (4). The essential oils (lavender and peppermint) also have a sun protection factor. These oils protect your skin from UV rays and keep your skin healthy.
9. DIY Gentle And Hydrating Moisturizer For Dry Skin
You Will Need 3 tablespoons shea butter 1 teaspoon vitamin E oil 1 teaspoon aloe vera gel 3 tablespoons apricot seed oil 5 drops helichrysum essential oil 5 drops of myrrh essential oil 3 drops clary sage essential oil Method Melt the shea butter in a double boiler and allow it to cool down a bit. Whisk the butter once it cools down and add the oils and aloe vera gel. Keep mixing. Once it reaches a creamy consistency, transfer the cream to a glass container. Apply it to your face and body as and when required. Why This Works Shea butter has amazing healing and moisturizing properties. It contains vitamins A, D, and E that keep your skin nourished and help in healing eczema and other dry skin issues. Apricot seed oil goes along well with shea butter as it is non-irritant, and just like shea butter, it keeps your skin moisturized.
10. Revitalizing Hibiscus Moisturizer For Dry Skin You Will Need 2 tablespoons hibiscus tea 1 cup extra virgin coconut oil Method Grind the hibiscus tea into powder. Melt the coconut oil in a double boiler. Add the hibiscus tea powder to the oil and cover it for a while. Use a cheesecloth to strain the oil and separate the tea from the oil. Let the oil cool down until it solidifies. Whip it well in a mixer for about a minute or two. Transfer the pinkish cream to a glass jar and apply to your skin. Why This Works In Africa, hibiscus pulp is often used for wound healing and soothing the skin. It contains anthocyanins and antioxidants that enhance skin health (5). Coconut oil has a calming and soothing impact on your skin and also keeps it moisturized.
These simple and easy to make DIY moisturizers will give your skin a luxurious, moisturized feeling. They are gentle and will not irritate your skin (unless you are allergic to certain substances).
Try these moisturizers and let me know how they worked for your skin in the comments section below.

The Extra Step You Could Be Taking For More Hydrated Skin
One of the least understood beauty trends from Asia is the use of facial essences. The product’s very name causes us to screw up our faces and scratch our heads, wondering what exactly an essence is.
According to Yoon-Soo Cindy Bae, an associate at the Laser & Skin Surgery Center of New York, essences are liquid beauty products used to hydrate your skin after you’ve cleansed and toned, and they help your skin absorb subsequent products you’ll be applying, like serums and moisturizers. They typically contain active ingredients like antioxidants, vitamins and herbal extracts.
Though essences are starting to become more popular in the United States, they’re commonly used in beauty routines throughout Asia. Vice President of Skin Biology and Bioactives at Estee Lauder Nadine Pernodet told Into The Gloss, “Asian women tend to have a thinner moisture barrier than Caucasian women and are therefore more prone to moisture loss. Essence helps create a stronger, more resistant skin foundation for longterm improvement to the look of skin.”
No matter your ethnicity or skin type, after the age of 15 your lipids (the layers of skin that hold moisture) start to get a bit lower as you age, according to Ellen Marmur, a consulting dermatologist for Dove. “Thinking about how your environment is making your skin feel, adjusting your routine and replenishing that protective barrier of moisture is the way to go,” she says.
Often confused with serums and toners, Bae defines the differences very clearly. She says, “Traditional ‘American’ toners help restore pH balance and remove any excess oil, makeup and debris after cleansing (when applied with cotton balls). Traditional ‘Korean’ toners aid with hydration and prep the skin for layering additional products like an essence (that’s applied with the hands). Serums are thicker and tend to be more concentrated with ingredients that will aid in skin brightening, anti-aging or both.”
An easy way Sarah Lee and Christine Chang, the co-founders of Korean beauty e-tailer Glow Recipe, are able to spot a true essence versus a treatment toner is by the packaging, texture and size. “Essences are fluid, but still thick enough to require being in a pump or dropper bottle,” says Chang. “A toner will almost always be over 75ml and close to a liquid, enough to require a bottle with a narrow opening.”
The duo likes to refer to essences as the “modern version” of a serum because they have lightweight and often watery textures that absorb in a flash.
Products should provide clear instructions on the packaging label for how to apply an essence, and those details may vary. Bae likes to gently pat on the product, but always advocates being gentle with your skin.
However, just because an essence is formulated by a cosmetics company doesn’t automatically make it right for your skincare needs. Bae advises identifying your specific concerns and trying a few different products for that indication. “It is important to like the smell, texture and feel of the product, because if you don’t, you won’t use the product,” she says.
Remember that essences are cosmeceuticals, not prescriptions. Bae explains, “Although many products are clinically tested, in a perfect world, all cosmeceuticals, like prescription medications, would undergo clinical testing to demonstrate their efficacy, thereby substantiating their marketing claims.”
While Lee says there are no “set stone steps” in skincare, you should definitely pay close attention to how your skin feels and what appears to be working. Getting a professional evaluation by a dermatologist doesn’t hurt, either.

Soothe Your Stomach.. And Your Face
Apparently Pepto-Bismol isn’t just a stomach soother, it can also be used as a facial mask. It contains bismuth subsalicylate, which is commonly found in facial creams. In an interview with Reader’s Digest, Dr.Frances Jang, a dermatologist at Skinworks, recommended spreading two teaspoons of Pepto-Bismol on your face, then letting it dry for 15 to 30 minutes before rinsing it off with warm water.

Lighten Hair With Chamomile Tea And Lemon Juice
In an interview with Reader’s Digest, Popie Poulos, hairstylist and owner of The Salon, recommends rinsing your hair with a mixture of chamomile and fresh lemon juice instead of conditioner to permanently lighten your tresses. De-Puff Your Eyes With Raw Potatoes
In an interview with Reader’s Digest, Dr.Frances Jang, a dermatologist at Skinworks recommends using raw potato slices to soothe your eyes. She says they are astringent which means they help decrease water retention and they also contain the enzyme catalase which helps lighten dark under eye circles. First, wash and peel a potato. Cut two slices and place one on each eye for 10 minutes. Lay down, relax and let the potatoes work their magic. Rinse the eye area gently with lukewarm water when you’re done.

Maximize The Lifespan Of Your Blow Out
We love walking out of the salon with a fresh blow out, but how do you prevent your locks from going limp in the days after? The experts at Allure say plan early. Your hair naturally secretes oil so be two steps ahead and spray your roots with dry shampoo before you start producing oil. This way the dry shampoo will absorb any moisture before it weighs down your tresses. Also make sure you protect your hair from moisture (rain is sure to ruin your mane) and touch up your blow out in the morning using a hair dryer and round brush. It will give you an instant boost of volume.

Countouring Creates Dimension
The trick to achieving a chiseled celebrity-like face is to contour (Angelina Jolie cheekbones, anyone?). Your face is three dimensional so applying foundation in a single tone will only make your face appear flat. Add a highlighter to areas of your face that would usually catch light but create enough shadow to emphasize your jaw line and cheekbones. For tips on how to contour your face according to its specific shape, visit Total Beauty.

Say Goodbye To Makeup Sponges
Makeup sponges help you apply make up, but not without a cost. They usually soak up more liquid foundation than what ends up on your face. The result? You’re wasting foundation and constantly buying new sponges. The fix? Get a foundation brush. You waste less foundation and it allows for a more even and precise application than a sponge would.

Avoid Overly Rosy Cheeks
Giving yourself a natural glow avec blush is an in look for spring. But you’ll want to avoid brushing on too much (lest you look like a clown). So always start your blush line two finger widths away from your nose and only apply it on the apples of your cheeks. This will ensure you create a natural glow without going overboard.

Keep Misbehaving Brows In Check

Applying False Lashes
Adding extra eye fringe amps up the glam instantly. First, take your falsies and loosen them by gently flexing the eyelash band, then curl your natural lashes to make sure your falsies line up with your actual lash line. Apply glue on your falsies using a Q-tip. Using tweezers (or finger tips if you feel that gives you more control), place your falsies as close to your lash line as possible. Let your lashes dry for a minute before you add a coat of mascara (this is optional). Source: Makeup.com

Toothpaste Zaps Pimples
You’ve heard it before don’t pop your zits! The folks over at Daily Glow suggest applying a bit of toothpaste to a pimple before bed and washing it off with warm water when you wake up in the morning. They say that toothpastes draws impurities out of clogged pores and dries the skin with shrinks the pimple. Opt for organic toothpastes rather than gel toothpastes which don’t work as well.

Blot Away Excess Oil
Do you start the morning with matte, fresh-looking skin only to find that by the time 5 p.m. rolls in you’re a shiny mess? If you have oily skin then blotting papers are a beauty godsend. Don’t use powder to soak up the oil. Using too much periodically throughout the day will make your skin appear cakey because you’re just layering makeup on top of more makeup. Opt for blotting papers instead. They will soak up all the oil. We love We love Sephora’s blotting papers.

No Makeup Remover? Try Lotion Instead
If you’re out of makeup remover, use body lotion to get rid of makeup. It works especially well on tough mascara.

Create Fuller Lips
If you’re tired of having thin, pursed puckers, extend your lip line using a neutral-toned lip liner. Then apply lipstick over top. Be careful though don’t extend your lip line too much.

Lashes For Miles
Curl your lashes both before and after applying mascara for longer lashes. You may want to re-curl them throughout the day to get some extra lift, just remember to be gentle when you apply pressure with your curler.

Don’t Pop It
No, no, no! Don’t pop your zits. Not only does it increase the chance of scarring, it’s also likely that you will worsen the blemish and spread bacteria to other places on your face which could give rise to another breakout.

Stop Your Hair Colour From Fading
If you’ve just had your hair dyed, the last thing you want is for the colour to fade. One surefire way to prevent such a mishap from happening is to use a deep-conditioning treatment once a month. This will help lock in colour and has the added benefit of staving off dry and damaged locks.

Use A Flat Iron To Create Waves
Flat irons are amazing tools with multiple uses. Not only can you use it to straighten your hair, you can also create tight curls or soft romantic waves.

Exfoliate Your Lips
Dry, flaky, chapped lips are the worst canvas for lipstick. To ensure that your puckers are in perfect pout condition, the experts at The Beauty Department recommend exfoliating your lips. To do this, apply lip balm to your lips, then using a toothbrush or clean mascara wand, scrub your lips (don’t be too rough). Then, use a tissue to wipe away excess flakes and voila! You’ll have a perfect pout in no time.

Microwave Lotion Into Luxury
Who doesn’t love a spa day? If we could go every day, we probably would, but that would also put a dent in our wallets. A quick, easy and cheaper indulgence is to put your favourite lotion in the microwave for about 10 seconds. Make sure the oils in your lotion don’t separate and that it isn’t too hot. Apply it on to your skin and enjoy! Source: Bella Sugar

Exfoliate Daily
Exfoliation is an important and easy way to buff away the dead skin cells that cover up your skin’s natural glow. Use a light exfoliator, like the Daily Microfoliant from Dermalogica, to freshen your face daily.

Know Your Shade
When choosing a foundation, test a product on the skin near your jawline. And be sure to do it in natural light. This will ensure the foundation tone you choose for your face isn’t too different from the natural shade of your neck. We really love Makeup Forever’s Invisible Cover HD Foundation because it comes in so many shades.

Uses For Old Mascara Wands
Don’t throw away your old mascara wand, it’s still got a few uses left. Clean it and use it as a brow brush instead. You might even find it handy around the house use it to unclog sinks or clean tough to reach areas in your home. Source: A Thrifty Mrs

Wear Pantyhose Or Tights
What’s worse than having to wear a skirt with absolutely no time to shave your legs? We’ve all been there. The hassle free fix for this is to wearing pantyhose or tights (try a patterned pair for something new). It will disguise stubble as well as any blemishes on your stems.

Tweezing Tips
Before you tweeze, make sure you soften your skin by dabbing a cotton ball soaked in warm water or cream. When you start tweezing, do so in the direction of your hair’s growth. Source: Yahoo Shopping

Camouflage Grey Hair
If you want to camouflage some strands of grey hair on the go, the folks at Real Simple suggest using mascara if you have dark hair. For blondes or redheads try dusting your roots with bronzing powder.

Use Dry Shampoo
We absolutely love dry shampoo, especially Klorane (we use this brand religiously). It absorbs excess oil on your strands and scalp and keeps your mane looking clean and fresh. If you don’t have dry shampoo, try washing just the top of your head (or wherever there is oil), with regular shampoo followed by a quick blow dry. Your tresses will look as good as new.
Shutterstock
image
Reduce Your Carbon Footprint
Be beautiful and environmentally savvy while you’re at it. Recycle your old beauty products by shipping them to Terra Cycle (you can download their pre-paid UPS shipping packages online so it’s completely free). They’ll take your old beauty products and transform them into something new.
Shutterstock
image
Don’t Pump Your Mascara
The experts at Beauty Is My Duty say that you should never pump your mascara (i.e., moving the wand up and down in the tube really quickly) because it will only allow air into the tube which will cause your mascara to dry (and ultimately shorten its lifespan).
Shutterstock
image
Apply Bronzer Evenly
Before applying bronzer or self-tanning lotion, mix a drop or two of the solution with moisture cream. Blend using your finger or a Q-tip then apply to skin as you would regular moisturizer. This will ensure the cream blends in and covers skin evenly.
Shutterstock
image
Use Oil On Your Skin.. Even If It’s Already Oily
This probably sounds crazy, but using an oil-based product to remove makeup or excess dirt from your skin can actually improve your epidermis’ condition. Why? Over-cleaning stimulates the sebum glands, which causes skin to over-produce oil. Using oil-based products will have the opposite effect.
Shutterstock

Avoid Chipped Nail Polish Like The Plague
There are only two options for your nails with nail polish or without. Do not allow your nails to be caught somewhere in the middle (there is nothing worse than nails donning chipped red nail polish). Even if you think no one else will notice, trust us, someone will.
Shutterstock
image
Moisturize Properly
Sometimes less is more. Don’t slather your face with moisturizer because it will take 10 minutes or more to be absorbed by the skin before your face is ready for makeup. In an interview with Real Simple, Susan Evans, a dermatologist, said the best way to apply face cream is to blend a dime-sized amount on your cheeks, nose, chin and forehead instead of moisturizing heavily.
Shutterstock
image
Clean Your Makeup Brushes
Make sure you clean your makeup brushes regularly to avoid a buildup of makeup residue and bacteria. You can purchase makeup brush cleaner from a drug or beauty store, or you can simply use shampoo and conditioner to clean your brushes as you would your own hair. Clean brushes guarantee a super smooth and even makeup application every time.
Shutterstock
image
Treat Ingrown Hairs
Apply a product containing azulene or witch hazel to help reduce the swelling and redness that’s associated with ingrown hairs. From there, coax the ingrown hair from its location with a pair of tweezers (don’t pull it out, though this will only make the ingrown hair regrow in in the same way later).
image
Consult A Doctor Before Popping Pills
Do you really need all those supplements? It’s true the healthier you are, the healthier your skin and hair will be. But popping supplements without discussing them with your doctor can do more harm than good. Why? Because mixing certain vitamins and minerals can have the opposite effect of what you’re hoping. Talk to your physician before popping any pills.
Shutterstock
image
Remove Nail Polish Without Remover
If you run out of nail polish remover, you can remove cracked or chipped nail polish by applying a clear top coat to the nail and removing it promptly with a cotton ball.
Shutterstock
image
Perfume Basics
Don’t douse yourself with perfume before you leave the house (you don’t want to bombard other people’s nostril with strong smells). Just because you can’t smell it doesn’t mean other people won’t be able to. If you wear it every day, chances are your olfactory sense has just become desensitized to the scent. Only spray or dab perfume on select spots like your knees, wrists, base of throat, and behind your earlobes.
Shutterstock
image
A Top Coat Is A Must
Add a top coat to freshly painted nails, and then again once they are dry. This makes your nail polish less likely to chip and will ensure it lasts longer.
Shutterstock
image
Clarify Your Hair
In order to remove product build-up from locks, use a clarifying shampoo once a week. This will also help prevent dandruff and other annoying hair/scalp conditions.

Smile.. Lots
Our best beauty tip? Smile! It’s the most beautiful asset you have. Wear it every day.

What are the benefits of olive oil?
The benefits of olive oil are more to demonstrate both in terms of health and beauty. Today, I wanted to go back to the history of this oil but also to give you my love of cosmetics. I tell you, olive oil has not finished surprising you. "The eternal tree." Let's start at the beginning, before talking about oil, let's talk about the tree first. And what a tree! The olive tree is a tree with many symbols and legends. In Antiquity, it already had a special place, being a symbol of life and eternity. It is also found on some Egyptian paintings, as a crown on some pharaohs, as Tutankhamen, a symbol of justice. In Greece, it is a symbol of resurrection and hopes with the legend of Athena. It is also found on the crown of Julius Caesar as a symbol of power, strength and victory but also wealth, immortality and abundance. This tree is very durable and lasts longer than oak. The olive tree is reputed to be eternal. From the fourth millennium BC, this tree is present throughout the Mediterranean basin. It was one of the first trees to be grown by men. "The gold of the gods." From this tree comes its fruit: the olive, which is green at the base but becomes black at full maturity. Its oil, which is extracted from olive pulp, is as darling as its tree. In the Qur'an, olive oil is a source of divine light, a symbol of purity. Rich in vitamin A, E and monounsaturated fatty acids, you are not without knowing the benefits of olive oil and its virtues on health, especially on the cardiovascular plan. But that's not all! The advantages of olive oil are numerous, especially in the skin. It is indeed, nourishing, soothing, softening, restorative - The list is long! "Gold of the Gods", this is how this oil was renamed in Antiquity. At that time, the benefits of olive oil were no longer a secret! As early as Cleopatra's day, women used olive oil to make their hair stronger, longer and brighter. It is an essential ingredient of beauty! Rich in antioxidants, it is a formidable anti-ageing that prevents wrinkles and cellular ageing. In body oil, olive oil prevents stretch marks. It tones the epidermis and gives it a better elasticity. It is therefore recommended for pregnant women in the form of massage. In bath oil, it leaves skin soft, supple and a radiant complexion. It helps to regulate the suppleness and hydration of the skin. The essential "Aleppo soap" and "Savon de Marseille" * Aleppo soap Let's continue our way until the 7th and 8th century when olive oil has still not been abandoned in beauty. It is also in Syria, or more precisely in Aleppo that the first hard soap has emerged in the world. This soap, which bears the name of its hometown, is composed exclusively of local vegetable oils such as olive oil and bay laurel oil. It was well after, in the 17th century, that the success of soap factories began in the Marseille region. This is where the famous "Marseille soap" was created. Inspired by its ancestor (the Aleppo Salon), it is also composed mainly of olive oil. Moreover, the traditional Marseille soap had to have a 72% content in olive oil. Marseille soap At the time, Marseille soap is as much used for the toilet (in beauty) as for the household tasks, because the olive oil is the best natural detergent. It reached its peak in 1913, but the rise of synthetic detergents precipitated its decline after 1950. Still recognized and used nowadays, this soap is for me "a safe bet". However, I recommend you to be vigilant if you want to get some ... Today, the "real" Marseille soap is not a controlled appellation of origin. Many of the soaps sold in supermarkets include this name "Marseille soap" but are not in any case. Most of them contain fats of animal and non-vegetable origin, such as the original. To benefit from all the benefits of olive oil in the "real" Marseille soap, make sure to check: it's composition (mainly olive oil, and no more than six natural ingredients) it's color (which must be brown-green or white) it's imprint on the six faces. The benefits of olive oil in cosmetics You have understood, for centuries, the benefits of olive oil propel it into the top of vegetable oils used in beauty. And this is not about to stop because today's cosmetics brands have understood it as well! I present you my favorites of cosmetics which are composed, of course, olive oil! First of all, here are my darlings for the face: 1) DHC, Deep Cleansing Oil, 26 € 200ml Enriched with olive oil, this cleansing oil eliminates all makeup, even the most stubborn. It's the best seller of the brand in the world, and I understand why! I highly recommend it. 2) Durance, ultra-nourishing face cream for dry skin, 23,60 € This melting care, rich in Nyons organic olive oil, shea butter and extracts of olive leaves, intensely nourishes, soothes and protects against external aggressions. I recommend it to the driest skin looking for a comfortable face cream. 3) Marius Fabre, Olivia, Lip Balm with Olive Oil and Shea Butter, € 6.50 This lip balm, enriched with olive oil and shea butter, repairs and moisturizes the most chapped and dry lips. And in addition, it is certified organic! 4) Durance, Serum revitalizing concentrated dry skin, 24,90 € Big top for this serum that revitalizes, softens and protects the skin. To use with the moisturizer of the same brand (2), this is the perfect combo that I recommend to dry skin. And here are my scrunchies for the body: 1) Durance, nourishing foot cream with olive leaf extract, 13,95 € 75ml Because it is essential to take care of your feet, I am currently using this Durance brand cream, enriched with olive oil, which leaves my feet softened, soft and comfortable. 2) Durance, nourishing shower oil, 13,95 € This silky formula shower oil turns into delicate foam when in contact with water. Fragile skin like me will appreciate this product. 3) Basket of Senses, Olive Exfoliating Care, 9,75 € Slightly foaming, this body scrub with olive kernel powder gently removes dead skin cells. Non-abrasive, it is suitable for dry skin and respects the natural moisture of the skin. 4) Basket of Senses, dry body oil and olive hair, € 15.90 This dry oil is a 2 in 1 super enriched in organic olive oil. 5) Aroma-Zone, Olive vegetable butter, 6,90 € This vegetal butter of organic olive oil can be used as is on the skin or used in your care. It is particularly appreciated by sensitive skin, irritated and torn. 6) Kiehl's, olive oil conditioner for dry and damaged hair, 9,50 € Inspired by traditional recipes, this shampoo combines all the benefits of olive oil, Avocado oil and Lemon extracts. It helps to restore suppleness and elasticity. It is suitable for dehydration. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XkQYEURPWIU Read the full article

How To Prevent Joint Pain On The Trail
The best way to prevent joint pain is good, healthy living. Some of the most successful hikers know that it’s easier to prevent joint pain than it is to manage the pain. So, if you are lucky enough to be without pain, then let’s keep you pain-free.
These are some of the ways that you can assure your health. Following a good, healthy lifestyle means eating right, keeping hydrated and staying active.
Natural Teas
Studies have shown that many teas have great health benefits. Teas have many minerals and vitamins that feed your joints, keeping them hydrated and healthy. Some of the best teas are as follows.
Burdock Root
Peppermint Leaf
Turmeric Root
Devil’s Claw Root
Celery Seed
Lemongrass
The most important point to remember is that the medicine can be cooked out of the herb. The correct way to make most of these teas is to boil your water and then put it in a cup of the tea. Let it steep for 3-5 minutes covered, and then drink it.
Drinking daily doses of these teas will play a big part in keeping your joints healthy. If you already have pain, these teas can help and in some cases, reverse some joint pain damage.
Exercise-Low impact cardio
Exercising is the best way to strengthen your muscles, and your muscles help keep all your joints stable. So, how should you exercise? Not just any exercise will do. Many exercises can or will end up hurting you if done incorrectly. Your best bet is to consult a knowledgeable personal trainer. A personal trainer will be able to build an exercise plan and instruct you on the proper way to do each exercise.
Losing Weight
Lightening the load will give your joints an easier time. Even if you are very muscular, the added muscle weight is very taxing. Long lean muscles work best for active sports like hiking. You want to be healthy and lean!
Bone Broth
Bone broth is so amazing I would almost call it a real medication. Bone broth is full of nutrients and minerals that your body needs. It is especially good for the sick or people that have high energy needs. Bone broth is a perfect way to strengthen bones, muscles, and joints.
The chondroitin sulfates and glucosamine will bring down joint swelling and keep inflammation from becoming an issue on your hike. The calcium, magnesium and other compounds will feed your body, making it stronger.
This is a simple recipe for bone soup. You can use any bones, but I find that beef knuckle bones have the most gelatin, and that’s what you are looking for.
Big beef knuckle bone 3-5 lbs (you can ask a butcher for one)
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar with the mother
A pound of carrots
A pound of celery
3 cloves of garlic
One onion
Bay leaf if you have it
Salt
To assemble, throw everything into a crock pot, add enough water to cover the bones, and allow it to simmer for 24-48 hours. The carrots, celery, garlic, and onion are just for taste. You could just boil the bones, vinegar and a touch of salt.
This is really an excellent thing anyone can do for their health, but hikers will really benefit from this soup.
Drinking water
Most people are dehydrated, and hikers need to be aware of their hydration level. Our bodies are 57%-60% water. Hikers missing a few hours of rehydration in adverse conditions can already start causing damage to the body. We need to keep hydrated to keep our joints properly lubricated. By starving your body of water, the joints will also lose moisture, causing pain and increasing the likelihood of injury.
Eat Fish
Fish, and specifically oily fish have a great many nutrients to keep our skeletal system strong. Some good types of fish to eat are mackerel in oil, salmon, sardines in oil, and tuna in oil. These types of fish can be taken on hikes either canned or even as salmon jerky. We are after the omega-3 fatty acids. Not only are they a fantastic source of vitamins like A, D, and E, but they are essential for your nervous system. Your eyes and brain are dependent on omega-3 fatty acids.
Massage
Giving yourself simple massages can help to prevent injury when you are getting ready for a hike. Massaging your joints and muscles increases your range of motion and flexibility. Half an hour before a hike, sit down and massage your legs, starting at your ankle. Don’t rush this process because it just won’t be effective. While on your hike, remember to do this again on all of your breaks. You will notice how well this works for you!
Medication
I included this last on our list because it should be the last option. You can see your doctor and voice your concerns about joint health while on a hike. For some people with reoccurring knee injuries, your doctor may suggest steroids or a host of other medications to combat pain and swelling.
Some doctors may also give corticosteroids by injection to the joints. This can either work or not work, but if it does, you may have days worth of relief. Your doctor may have other options available in all sorts of forms (pills, shots, and creams): some over and others under the counter.
A combination of the above strategies will assure you are in the best shape possible to prevent joint pain while on the trail. Enjoy the outdoors while trying to stay in the best shape you can be. It’s easier to prevent an injury than it is to heal one!

Give The Gift Of Younger-Looking Skin With This Enchanting Retinol Kit
And the award for “Most Beautiful Holiday Skincare Gift Set” goes to…
*drumroll*
Medik8 Encapsulated Forest! From afar, it looks like a children’s pop-up fairytale book, nudging you in with promises of mystery, love and a happy ending.
What it delivers is youthful, brighter skin – a happy ending indeed for your complexion. But seriously, who wouldn’t love to find this beauty under the Christmas tree? The goodies inside are just a plus. 🙂
What’s In Medik8 Encapsulated Forest Gift Set?
Medik8 Encapsulated Forest Gift Set features everything you need to repair your skin at night, so that it looks its best during the day:
Cream Cleanse (40ml): A creamy cleanser that removes every trace of makeup to kickstart your evening skincare routine.
Retinol Eye TR (7ml): A powerful retinol serum to slowly fade away crow’s feet and prevent new ones from forming.
Retinol 3TR+ Intense (15ml): A powerful retinol serum for your face to help you keep wrinkles at bay and brighten the complexion.
Advanced Night Restore Cream (15ml): A soothing cream to deeply moisturize skin and finish off your anti-aging skincare routine.
Let’s take a closer look at each one of them, shall we?
Medik8 Cream Cleanse
Medik8 Cream Cleanse is an exfoliating cleanser that removes makeup, dead cells, and other impurities in one go. Or so it promises…
The creamy texture glides smoothly on the skin. I pour a small dollop on a cotton pad, massage it onto my skin, and rinse it off with a damp washcloth.
When I’m done, my skin is left softer and perfectly clean. Thank Cocoa butter and Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride (a non-comedogenic derivative of coconut oil) for that.
These moisturizing ingredients double up as cleansing agents. They melt away all traces of oil and dirt on your face, rinsing them away down the drain.
What about its exfoliating property? Medik8 Cream Cleanse has a small amount of Mandelic Acid, an AHA that dissolves the glue that holds skin cells together… when left on the skin.
In a cleanser, it doesn’t have the time to do much before you rinse it off. But it’s not completely useless. For sensitive skin, this may be all the exfoliation you can take.

Medik8 Retinol Eye TR
Medik8 Retinol Eye TR is an oil-based retinol serum for your eyes. Use it sparingly because it takes a couple of minutes for the oil to sink in.
Retinol is a form of Vitamin A, the only thing (so far!) scientifically proven to reduce wrinkles and crow’s feet. The catch? It’s irritating. As a rule, start with a low concentration and work your way up slowly.
Medik8 Retinol Eye TR contains 0.1% retinol. I know 0.1% seems insignificant, but it’s pretty powerful. To make it even gentler on the skin, Medik8 uses a Time Release technology. That’s a fancy way of saying it releases retinol over a period of several hours instead than hitting skin all at once.
As retinol targets your wrinkles, the safflower oil base moisturises your skin, leaving it softer and smoother all night long.
Does it work? Yes. Retinol can make a difference in your wrinkles…. Slowly. Consistency is key here. You need to use it for a few months before you see results.
Related: The Complete Guide To Retinol: What It Is, What It Does, And How To Use It
Medik8 Retinol 3TR+ Intense
Medik8 Retinol 3TR+ Intense reminds me of The Ordinary 0.2% Retinol In Squalane. They both have an oily, squalene-based texture that deeply moisturises skin while retinol does its antiaging job.
But Medik8 Retinol 3TR+ Intense differs from The Ordinary Serum in two ways:
Higher concentration: Medik8 Retinol 3TR+ Intense has 0.3% retinol, making it a little bit more powerful.
Time-Release Technology: It releases retinol over a period of several hours instead than all at once. It’s still as effective, but gentler on the skin.
So, what does retinol do for your skin, exactly? It has three jobs:
It fights free radicals before they can wreak their damage on your skin and give you wrinkles and dark spots.
It speeds up cellular turnover (i.e. the skin’s exfoliating process) to brighten the complexion, treat acne, and fade away dark spots.
It boosts collagen production to keep skin firm and elastic for as long as possible.
Medik8 Retinol 3TR+ Intense takes a few minutes to absorb into the skin (thank the oil base for that). When it does, your skin feels so soft and smooth.
With regular use, it helps to even out the texture of your skin, shrink large pores, and fade away discolourations. It helps with wrinkles and firmness, but it takes a while to see results. Hang in there, it’s worth it!

Medik8 Advaced Night Restore Cream
There’s a reason why Medik8 Advanced Night Restore Cream made it into the Encapsulated Forest gift set. It’s the perfect complement to retinol.
Remember when I mentioned retinol can be irritating, especially if you’ve never used it before. A good moisturizer can soothe the dryness and irritation away… if it has the right actives.
Medik8 Advanced Night Restore Cream uses a blend of squalane and ceramides to do the job. Both are natural components of your skin’s protective barrier, so can help strengthen it.
It works like this: your skin’s protective barrier is your first line of defense against harsh weather, irritating pollutants, and everything else that’s trying to harm it.
If these skin enemies break down your skin’s barrier, all hell breaks loose. Skin becomes drier. Loses its glow. Gets all red and irritated.
Squalane and ceramides patch up the holes in your barrier, so that moisture stay in and germs and other irritants stay out. Now that your barrier’s intact, retinol won’t irritate your skin as much.
I wouldn’t say this cream is lightweight, but it’s definitely not thick. It absorbs quickly into the skin, leaving it softer and smoother for hours. The best part? It didn’t make me breakout.
The only thing I’m not too fond of? The earthy citrus scent. It’s lovely but can be irritating for sensitive skin types. Luckily, my skin doesn’t have a problem with it.

This Soothing Moisturizer For Sensitive Skin Isn’t All It’s Cracked Up To Be
Have you checked the reviews for Pai Chamomile & Rosehip Calming Day Cream?
Half of them swear this moisturiser can soothe their sensitive, even eczema prone skin. The other half that it turns their skin into a red, irritated mess.
Who the heck is right? I mean, a moisturiser can’t possibly give such completely different results, can it?
If it’s dealing with sensitive skin, YES it can. Here’s why:
Key Ingredients In Pai Chamomile & Rosehip Calming Day Cream
Apricot, Jojoba and Thistle Oils
The bulk of Pai Chamomile & Rosehip Calming Day Cream is made up of sweet almond oil, jojoba oil and thistle oil. They all work by creating a barrier on the skin that prevents moisture loss, keeping skin hydrated for longer.
They may all do the same job, but each oil has something that makes it unique:
Sweet Almond Oil: It’s commonly used in massage oils because it dries quickly without leaving a greasy residue behind.
Jojoba Oil: It’s very similar to human sebum, so your skin instantly recognises it and absorbs it quickly. This makes it one of the few oils even oily skin can use without breaking out all over.
Thistle oil: It has antioxidant and soothing properties that can prevent wrinkles and calm down irritations.

Lactobacillus Ferment
Did you know that thousands of little bacteria live on your skin? Yes, for real.
They’re responsible for keeping your skin in top shape. When the good bacteria outnumber the bad ones, your skin’s clear and healthy. But when they bad guys take over, anything can happen. Acne, irritations, eczema… It’s not pretty.
Adding the good bacteria back into your skin can help. FYI, I’m not talking about live bacteria. Bacteria need to eat to survive and there’s no food in a moisturiser.
Yet, even dead bacteria can help, to an extent. Take Lactobacillus Ferment, the bacteria in Pai Chamomile & Rosehip Calming Day Cream, for example.
A 2012 study shows that it can repair your skin’s barrier, soothe irritations and treat acne. The catch? The study used 5%. Here, there’s a little less.
But hey, every little bit helps, right?

Chamomile
I’m sure you know how soothing chamomile is. It’s loaded with anti-inflammatories, including matricine, a-bisabobol, levomenol and chamazulene.
Levomenol and chamazulene are a particularly powerful duo. Together, they soothe allergies, erythema and sunburns. A-bisabol goes the extra mile, too. It reduces inflammation and helps wounds heal faster.
But chamomile is still a member of the daisy family. If you’re allergic to ANY plant in this family, putting chamomile on your skin won’t soothe it. It’ll give you a bad rash… or worse.

Lavender & Geranium
Why is Pai Chamomile & Rosehip Calming Day Cream soothing for some people and irritating for others?
Chamomile could be it. But then people with allergies are careful to avoid triggers. Must be something else…
Lavender oil and rose geranium oil. These natural oils have fragrant components that can irritate sensitive skin real bad. I don’t know what Pai was thinking in putting them here…
Let’s Put It To The Test: Personal Use & Opinion
Pai Chamomile & Rosehip Calming Day Cream has a rich, thick texture that sinks into my dry skin quickly without leaving a greasy residue behind. It doesn’t break me out either.
I can’t vouch for how soothing it is. My skin isn’t sensitive or prone to redness (I know, lucky!), but there are goodies here that can do the job.
What I can vouch for is how moisturising it is. As soon as I put it on, this moisturizer makes my skin softer and smoother. The effect lasts all till evening. At no point during the day I feel that tight tell-tale sign my skin needs more moisture.
The cream has a faint lavender scent. It’s pleasant and disappears faster. But it could cause all sorts of trouble for sensitive skin.
The thing with sensitive skin is that it’s different for everyone. Even a common allergen like lavender can cause a rash in 50 people and leave another 50 unscathed.
My opinion? If I had sensitive skin, I’d avoid anything with fragrant oils, like lavender, in it. But if you’re curious to try it anyway, get hold of a sample and patch test. Better safe than sorry.
P.S. The cream above is a sample size. It came in a holiday skincare set I bought with my own money over the Christmas holidays.
