Snowwest

This is pretty much my only Caitlin ship besides Snowstorm, and also one of my only consistent fanon ships (in other words, one that I always like and don't just need the right set of circumstances to get on board with). I love the crumbs of their friendship that we got in canon, and I wish we'd gotten more of them!! 😭

E-1 Killersnow

I'm mostly neutral on them, and that's probably because I have such mixed feelings about them due to their canon development. Before Frost showed up, the foreshadowing of her emergence indicated that Caitlin had a tendency to repress her emotions, and that she had an edgier side that she didn't always let show. So when Frost did show up, I was prepared for her to be an extension of Caitlin that Caitlin had to learn to come to terms with, and eventually she'd become a balanced version of both sides. Then I saw a gifset someone made with the caption that they were girlfriends, and I thought that was an interesting take, because that would make Frost a whole separate individual who just happens to share Caitlin's body, and the idea of them navigating dating under those circumstances would be very interesting. And then, of course, canon decided to turn them into sisters, which I can also see the appeal of, but the whiplash that retcon gave me makes me reluctant to refer to them as such. Tbh I still see season 3 Killer Frost as Caitlin, and I see later-seasons Frost as a completely different character, and seasons 4-5 Frost goes back and forth, so it makes for very inconsistent feelings about them. And of course, I headcanon Frost as aroace and Very Much Not Into Anyone, so I'm not super invested in any ships involving her.

E-2 Killersnow

Earth-2 Killer Frost is much more clearly depicted as Caitlin Gone Evil, and season 2 had a fuzzier, less developed concept of doppelgängers than season 3 and onward, so to me it just kind of seems like shipping Caitlin with herself, just with a different life?? Idk if that makes sense. I do enjoy the one-sided aspect of them, though. Killer Frost was definitely feeling some type of way about Caitlin.

Westhallen

BINGO! These guys are mixed feelings city. I can't really see them working out, but there are aspects of it that have potential. Like, I feel like any couple combination of them could work out (in an alternate timeline) with the other as their bestie third wheel, but given the love triangle in canon, I feel like they'd just be constantly at each other's throats if they tried to all be a thing together. It may be the Dan, Vanessa, and Olivia threesome storyline in Gossip Girl shaping my view of this, since they had a very similar trio dynamic. Also the fact that I've never read any fic for them, so all I have is their canon dynamic to base my feelings on. That said, props to the Westhallen fandom for their use of that "there's three people in this relationship" line. My hat's off to ya. 🎩

Olivarry

I may be alone in this, but I've just never seen Barry and Oliver as being that close. They have some good moments here and there, but it seems like the majority of their relationship is just clashing over crime-fighting styles. I just don't really get it. Of course, the erasure of Cisco as Barry's best friend among the Olivarry fandom doesn't help my enthusiasm level any. On that note, I actually enjoy Olivibe's interactions more than Olivarry's, and I'm waiting for the day someone decides to do something with that.

June 24 update: I have no idea when this was made but I continued it and I just want this out of my drafts. Also I like the Jesses a lot.

The name they chose for Aiden is blaze rod symbol (using two pointers and make it an X letter) and a thumbs down

June, July, and August are dyslexic

June and July don’t prefer reading so they make do with whatever they have

I’m saying mostly on August since the two felt more comfortable letting August read for them

They rely on August, mostly, and the other Jesses to read for them

August can read a couple of words but mostly the shorter and simpler ones

He prefers to type out words rather than to write it with his hand

April has a weak arm in her left from the Formidi bomb she has taken arm therapy to strengthen it

Lukas dislocated his after being pushed off from Sky City so both him and April take arm therapy

It’s kind of awkward considering April is dating Aiden

Not fully blind as in you can’t see nothing, but where certain parts of your eyes are blurry

Ask Answers: May 15th Part 2

And here’s the next part of the long answer set of the day!

When will OL: N&F take place? Beginnings and Always took place during summer breaks, will now and forever take place during a fall break or will the characters be going to school at the time of the events we play through? 

It takes place over all of the fall season, so school will be happening in OL2. Some events do take place in school, though many times events only start after school is already out for the day, haha.

Hey!! I have kind of a weird question?? I’m sorry if it’s been answered before and I just haven’t seen it but is OL 2 taking place during the same years as OL 1? I’m just curious, thank you for such amazing games!!! 

It’s a similar time frame, but not 100% exactly same.

Okay the crime show in Step 2: Growing up. Long blonde hair, police station, crime series? Was it The Closer? Because I’m the same age as MC and Cove and my mom was constantly watching that when I was 13. 😂 

Haha, yeah! The Closer and, to a lesser degree, Medium were the kind of shows I was referencing there. My mom also used to watch those back in the day.

Hey um this might be an odd question but if the setting of OL: N&F is  fall/autumn, what country or city will it take because my mind tells me it is either Poland or Canada. Also I can't wait for the game I am hyped 

It’s set in the USA again. We’d like to be able to have cameos and that’s easiest to do if the OL games take place in the same country.

Is it possible for the PC of OL to have non-seriously dated other people in the in between years even if they’ve had a consistent crush on Cove? 

You can causally date Baxter in Step 3 if you get his DLC and then ultimately choose Cove in Step 4. If you mean off-screen people, it doesn’t really come up, but you can certainly headcanon that. The game never says Cove is the only partner you’ve ever had.

Is there going to be a Kickstarter for Now and Forever as well? For like voiced names and stuff again? Didn’t find B&A until after it was released and I’d really love the opportunity to hear my name in the game 🥺 

Yeah, we are gonna have a Kickstarter with getting a voiced name as a reward! Though, it will be more expensive than it was for OL1. I feel bad to raise the price but we realized too late the first time around that it was being super undersold for the amount of work it took, aha.

They’d have to first like you a fair amount, otherwise the most you’d get is maybe a pat on the shoulder. If they were attached, they might hug you if you broke down crying or if you gave them super good news.

May i ask how the Derek DLC will work? I believe that there aren’t any memories in step 4 and doesnt derek’s dlc take place during that step? So will the dlc add memories? Thank you! 

Derek’s DLC will add five Moments to Step 2 (a new page will appear on that screen if you get the DLC). Then in Step 4 you’ll have to choose between playing the default epilogue or going through the Derek romance story.

Is the pc version on itch,io different from the steam version? Like an offline one or something? 

Steam has achievements, but that’s about it. Both can be played offline, if you prefer.

I've been wondering this for awhile, what determines if cove winds up with a ponytail in step 3? I've done multiple runs with different MCs with varying hairstyles. Or does it have to do with a particular moment in step 2? 

I’m afraid I can’t say exact choices that determine things. But generally it’s preference based options in the Step before that decide those things.

Any Floret Bond updates? 

No, the artist had to leave the project and it’s been on-hold. I’m not sure if I want to try working just with what we have or replacing it all entirely. The design is a bit too specific for us to easily find someone who could mimic it. Hopefully we’ll work things out later, though.

In step 3 is Cove's plan always to stay in sunset bird? 

Yeah. He is never ready at 18-years-old to make a big life change.

I love your content! If it's alright to ask, you answered in a previous ask about how Jeremy was too particular with what he likes his types to be romanceable with just any MC and it's sort of got me wondering.. What /are/ his types and/or preferences and such? Sorry if it's a lot!

Step 4 is only an epilogue, so it’s just a long series of scenes one after the other rather than a collection of Moments you can choose from.

The Step 4 epilogue is free, the wedding DLC, Derek DLC, and Baxter DLC cost money.

i’m not sure how much of the wedding dlc you have planned already, or if this would be to spoilery, but what kind of wedding traditions will be included? i keep thinking about how flustered cove would get over a garter toss & was wondering if we’d see a scene like that haha. obviously no worries if it’s not included, i’ll enjoy literally anything cove related 

I don’t know for sure yet, haha. Right now we’re focused on the parts before the big day. We’ll see how many scene alterations we can include for the wedding itself later on.

I’m afraid Q’s full name hasn’t been publicly announced yet so I can’t answer here (Q and T are the first letters of the names for the new LIs in Our Life: Now & Forever).

Question; is the steam version getting a Mac update?  I purchased the dlc there thinking it had Mac support without realizing it and just wondered if I’d need to refund it to purchase on itch.io 😭 

I’m really sorry, you will need to get a refund from Steam. We do hope to have it there for Steam eventually, but have no idea of when it’ll happen. Apple requires special notarization to be an officially accepted app for their devices. We don’t have that. Steam requires having that, Itch will let you release it as an non-notarized third party app. That’s why Itch is the only place that has the Mac version right now.

would you mind posting outfit sheets for Cove in every step? it would make things a lot easier for us artists. it would save a lot of time spent looking for references 

I think we did do the earlier steps when they were finished way back in 2019 (this game took a long time to make, aha), but we can probably repost them sometime!

In our life n&f, will we be able to get into qprs/will there be more options in regards to having deep platonic relationships with the love interests? Because as an aroace individual, it would be great if there could also be emphasis on platonic love so that it's more aspec inclusive. 

It’s a little hard to say at this point. There may not be things like a wedding DLC for OL2 and so the relationship for platonic and romantic feelings might not go as far as it did in the first game. We’ll kind of have to see how much we can do based on timeframe/budget constraints that will only be set near the end of the year. But we will be keeping things like that in mind at least.

during the step 3 erands moment i got curious, which fudge flavor is his favorite? it seems like he likes all of them, but which 4 do you think he would like best?

also i noticed that in some playthroughs cove would let me give him a piggy back ride, and in some he wouldn't, how come?

how does your choices affect cove's interests or looks? i replayed the game without changing any choices but i got cove to look different, is it just random?

Cove’s favorite flavors are ones with nuts and that are fruity! But he appreciates them all. Whether or not you can give him a piggyback ride depends on if your MC is fit/large enough to hold a muscular 6-foot-tall beach boy, haha.

Cove’s appearance does depend on choices and it’s generally tied to choices that are preference based rather than emotion/action based, such as which key chain you pick in Step 1.

Is it possible for cove to reject MC's proposal at the end of step 3? 

Nope. He’ll always accept.

hi! i was wondering how heavily the side characters will be featured in the our life wedding dlc? obviously it'll be cove & mc focused, but i was thinking it'd be sweet if we could take lizzie dress / suit shopping or dance with cliff at the wedding or something. 

The side characters are there about as often as they are in normal events. So, it’s clearly focused on Cove but he’s not the only person you have any meaningful moments with.

When will responses be sent out to applicants? 

I’m afraid we don’t send responses out to all applications, only ones we’re interested in offering the position to. Not everyone likes rejection emails and the amount of applications is too high to contact them all to say we’re not hiring them. We post updates on the job page when a position has news. Right now we’ve filled every role that was open.

I was wondering, in the Step 3 Happiness moment, what are the different fishes Cove can compare MC to? I got "you'd be a paradise fish, because being with you is paradise," but my friend got "you'd be an angelfish." Are there more variations? 

He says paradise fish if you’re a couple, angelfish if he’s just crushing, and then a royal dottyback/queenfish/emperor tetra (based on your gender) if he likes the MC platonicly.

Hello! So, in one of the Step 3 DLCs, Cove's arm was gone. I think it was to show him putting his arm behind his back. But if that wasn't the case, did it get yeeted? 

Thanks for letting us know. That was an error we tried to fix a little while back. When did you make the save file you were playing? If it was older that might be why it happened. Or maybe the error wasn’t fully fixed after all.

Asking for your opinion, but do you think Cove would at all be into ABBA? Because all I could imagine during the car trip in step 3 was him and the MC belting to Mamma Mia. 

Haha, yeah, there’d definitely be some ABBA songs he was into.

So throughout the game, Cove can develop different interests depending on the player’s choices; does this mean that he can have different careers in Step 4? Or his is line of work in adulthood never mentioned at all?

It’s just a bonus side story that’s fully separate from the main game.

It would be nice to have one for Step 4 too, but I sadly don’t see us having time to actually do it. I don’t know, if people are still asking for more OL1 content several months from now it might be doable and worth doing.

ngl Step 4 Terry's design reads like y'all see trans guys as their assigned gender more than you see them as men to me (a trans guy)... like maybe if he isn't heavily dysphoric, I could see it, but everything you've said about him doesn't line up with that. Even then, immediate warning bells go off in my head looking at him. I wouldn't have touched the game if I saw him ahead of time.

I’m sorry you aren’t comfortable with the way the design looks. The situation with Terry is that he’s now open about who he is, but the body he was born with is still physically the same. He only came out recently as an adult and hasn’t gone through any treatments/procedures yet (his chest is flatter because he wears a binder). However, even though his body hasn’t transitioned at the point Step 4 happens, no one treats him as anything other than the guy he is. Having a trans character who’s identity is supported/respected from the start is what we’re going for in this case. But what we’re doing with Terry isn’t the only trans content we’ve ever had/ever will have in the future.

I imagine it’d be pretty opposite experiences, haha. Bae would initially think Baxter is pushy and thoughtless, but would quickly realize, oh, he’s instead a soft, considerate boy. Very cute. Baxter would first be struck with the impression that Bae is charming and gentlemanly, but then would realize that, no, he’s a sarcastic asshole. And I’m afraid we can’t reveal the personalities for the next game yet.

Sexuality Headcanon: kokichi’s canonically some shade of mlm, i headcanon him as bi!! i like projecting my sexuality journey onto him, of thinking you’re gay for years and years and years and then seeing a particularly attractive person from the opposite gender and thinking “wait. WAIT, FUCK-”

Gender Headcanon: kokichi’s gender is a highly classified DICE secret and should you attempt to discover it you will be slowly and dramatically lowered into a tank of sharks. he/she/it pronouns tho.

A ship I have with said character: if u have scrolled though my blog for more than two seconds you’ll know i’m obsessed with saioumatsu, lol. it’s a big comfort ship for me and i think about it more than any other relationship in danganronpa,,,unfortunately it’s a pretty rare ship, but fortunately all three individual pairs in it have decent followings so i’m not completely starved :D i just think kokichi deserves two people who will love him honestly and openly and gently, but still refuse to take any of his shit yknow? also i think it’s fun that most of the biggest problems in each pair are solved by the third person being there! like how kokichi would have no patience for shuichi putting kaede on a pedestal, and kaede would just knock their heads together whenever the boys attempt a classic Saiou Miscommunication™, and how shuichi would be a good mediator for when the omaede bickering turns to actual fighting!

A BROTP I have with said character: fuck i already spent ages talking about platonic ougoku in the gonta post,,,uhh i like the idea of him and kiibo making up postgame. him and miu are really funny and really tragic which is always a good combo. him and rantaro are great since rantaro is so easily swayed into shenaniganery. i like the idea of him harassing kiyo into telling him cool stories. and him and himiko have been near n dear to my heart ever since i read that one set of toxicpineapple fics!

A NOTP I have with said character: nothing against the folks who like it but kokichi/rantaro squicks me out 😬. why is my aroace king, rantaro amami, kissing his little brother. whys he doing that!! funnily enough i do actually headcanon kokichi as having an ill-fated crush on rantaro,,,it just makes me uncomfy for rantaro to reciprocate idk idk

A random headcanon: he presents very fem!! idk i know it’s not a popular headcanon but he’s always just. felt that way 2 me i guess? he wears exclusively dresses and skirts unless he’s in his DICE uniform, because unfortuately pants are more practical when ur running from the cops 😔. he still dresses like a fucking clown though being fem doesn’t give you TASTE

Musings on Reactions to Aro and Ace Headcanons By Allo (Non-Aspec) People

As someone who regularly consumes fictional media--mostly tv series and novels--I come across many headcanons about the romantic and sexual orientations of countless characters, all of which are valid.  Fiction comes to life at the interpretation of the audience, which is almost as important as the text itself and as the author’s intentions. I’m not writing to discuss about how people interpret fiction, though, but rather a pattern I have found when certain characters are headcanoned as ace, aro, or any form of arospec,; a pattern that follows a rhetoric that will sound familiar to almost all aspec people.  

Let’s give an example. Though I am not an avid headcanon-er or shipper, if I find a character that shows signs of being aspec, genderqueer, bisexual, gay/lesbian, or another form of LGBTQ+, I am prone to suspect that the character is that sexuality or gender, or at least that the character could be that sexuality or gender. I usually do not deal in absolutes since until something is shown in canon, any headcanon is valid. Even if canon seems to dispute a headcanon there is nothing wrong with headcanons of any sort. In a recent show I watched, a character struck me as possibly aromantic since he seemed opposed to romance, said that he’d never fall in love, and that he sort of expected to remain single and to prioritize his friends through playing D&D with them forever, and that his friends would prioritize each other and also remain single. Then I made the mistake of looking up the character/show on tumblr to see what other people think.  Many are under the impression that the character is a closeted gay boy who may be struggling with internalized homophobia due to being young and living in a time period when being gay was less accepted than it is today, which is a fair enough assessment. It is definitely a valid way to interpret the character and I can understand how they could see him that way, especially if they have not shared my experiences. For all I know, that could be the screenwriter’s intentions, that the character is gay. What bothered me, however, was how furious these people became at anyone who suggested that the character was aro or aspec.  Comments like (and i paraphrase)  “the character is clearly a closeted gay boy, not aro” “@ aroaces: don’t take one of the few gay reps just because you relate to him” “get your hands off the gay rep”.  These kinds of comments were not from just one person, but several.

Where have I heard this rhetoric before? Oh yeah, from the hundred of aphobic and exclusionist people on tumblr.  I am not saying that every person who has made such a comment is aphobic but the situation does parallel the aspec situation and hint at a deeper problem among the LGBTQ+ community and it’s treatment of aspec people.  How people tell us that talking about being aspec is damaging to the LGBTQ+ community because people who are confused and struggling with internalized homophobia may mislabel themselves as aspec and that aspecs are responsible for any trauma they experience as a result. How they say that us interacting with the LGBTQ+ community is somehow “stealing” resources from gay, lesbian, bisexual, and trans people who (by this logic) are more deserving than aspec people of help (these groups of course deserve all the help and resources they need and want, but saying aspec people steal resources and therefore shouldn’t be allowed to be a part of community implies that aspec people do not deserve help at all).  These arguments over the headcanons from non-aspec people is just rehashing the old aphobic and exclusionist rhetoric but under a different context.

Aspec people are no more “stealing” representation from gay people by suggesting a character shows signs of being aspec than they are “stealing” resources from the rest of LGBTQ+ people. The idea that aspec people are “stealing” by finding community where they should be accepted and finding comfort in headcanoning a character as aspec, even if they may be projecting slightly on that character due to relating to them, is ludicrous.  Furthermore, someone headcanoning a character differently than you does not mean they are saying that you cannot have your headcanon and does not mean that the showriters would change their minds if your headcanon was “right”, so the idea that they can steal rep that hasn’t been verified in canon is ludicrous as well.  Fiction doesn’t belong to one person only, but to every individual who consumes it and each consumer is allowed to interpret it in their own way.  

These accusations about aspec people stealing representation of other sexualities is damaging to the community and alienates aspec people in the same way that aphobic people and exclusionists alienate aspec people.  The orientation of fictional characters is not the most important thing in the world, but the underlying problem in the fury of people who claim aspec headcanons steal representation and therefore should not be shared is important for everyone in the LGBTQ+ community to be aware of.  Not to just be aware, but also to oppose.  I am not implying that we should argue with every person who has made such a comment about aspec headcanons, or that we should argue with any of them for that matter.  What I am saying is that aphobic and exclusionist rhetoric has touched many aspects of society and the LGBTQ+ community, even in something as innocuous as headcanons and that it needs to change.  People need to change, and if they have made such comments about the headcanons but do not consider themselves aphobic, they should re-evaluate why they are so protective over their headcanons so as to be aggressive to people who have aspec headcanons. Attitudes toward aspec people needs to change, and by showing light to the little signs of aphobia I hope that people can be more aware of this need. I hope for a community where aspec people can be as accepted as those of other orientations and where everyone in the LGBTQ+ community can stand in solidarity, rather than disputing over their differences and alienating each other, like many cishet people have tried to alienate anyone who doesn’t fit into a square box.

DRAMA:

> This is probably the longest section of the batch but this is severely important to me: If there’s any user out there who is being toxic/manipulative/etc. To a close friend of mine and stirring up drama for whatever reason, I won’t hesitate to block them and even report them if it gets far worse. I like to get healthy relationships with others and I know that not everyone I meet is gonna be a ray of sunshine, but this is something to keep in mind. Drama isn’t good for my health and it’s not good for anyone’s health. It’s something I don’t tolerate and it can spike up my anxiety very badly.

> That said: I don’t get involved into drama unless it’s something in the matter of my friends. I won’t get involved if I’m told not to get involved. If it doesn’t concern me and if the mun doesn’t want me to get involved, then I’ll respect their wishes. I will defend a friend though if necessary.

> Furthermore, do not follow nor interact with me if you’re the type of person that loves to stir drama. It’s fine if you’re calling out someone who’s dangerous to the roleplay community, but if it’s just out of spite and not warning people? Then you’re blocked.

I do not point fingers, but I also don’t like to stand around when people are being harmed by one toxic individual. I know people out there are anti-drama and that’s okay if you want to focus on your mental health; that’s perfectly fine. But if you’re someone who sees drama as one big hullabaloo then, I’m sorry, but there are people out there who cause harm to others and sometimes, they need to be called out.

> However, there are people who are harmful to others in a way that needs to be called out upon. And by that, I mean, please don’t follow nor interact with me if you associate with or follow user Grusel-high. She has been proven to show ableist, homophobic, and transphobic behaviors in such a disgusting way that feels unreal. THE BARE BASICS:

Info-modding is when someone’s muse knows about another’s muse, but they aren’t supposed to. Welcome to AroAces of Color!

This is a blog created by and for asexual and aromantic people of colour, where we can have our own space to discuss sexuality, identity, culture and the intersections of each. We welcome questions, discussions and advice from all ace and aro people of colour, and we’re very open to fandom headcanons, discussions of asexuality/aromanticism in media, and more. 

We created this blog to have a space to call our own, and to welcome other POC on the aro and ace spectrum. So if you’re an a-spectrum poc, come join us to connect, ask questions and share ideas! Our mods are all people of colour from a variety of backgrounds and ages.

This blog will prioritise people of colour. While white followers are welcome here, please remember that this space is catered primarily towards aro and ace PoC.

Our topics will be intersectional and inclusive of all aces and aros. Contents here will vary - we hope to discuss political issues, including how our race and our identity intersect with each other, our experiences in regards to family, friends, religion, and maybe even give advice to our readers. We welcome discussion, as long as both sides remain civil. We also welcome ace/aro headcanons about characters of colour, anecdotes, advice, questions and rants. Being from a diverse range of backgrounds, we also hope to provide a variety of perspectives on the topic of asexuality and race.
