Mark moves around the small apartment urgently cleaning up. He makes sure to pick up and throw into the garbage bag between his hands every empty Red Bull can that his roommate has left lying around. On the old couch rests his guitar, and on the little table in the living room his lyrics notebooks and Haechan's engineering notes.

"Mark," Haechan calls for him, to which the older one only responds with a small sound, indicating that he has his attention—partially, as he's still concentrating on his duty of getting all ready for your arrival—, "Your food is getting cold."

Mark lets out an exasperated sigh while getting all his belongings inside his backpack and his guitar in the case. "I'll just order something once I'm at the studio."

"Wait, you're leaving?"

"Yeah, I need to get some work done with TY. And y/n's arriving at any time so this place has to be tidy and clean and–" Mark stops all motions of arranging the mattress you're going to sleep on on the living room floor, to fix his eyes on his friend. "Haechan, could you like, put on a t-shirt or something?"

Small drops of water fall from Haechan's wet hair onto his naked torso, fresh from the warm shower he just took. The young man does nothing but question his best friend with a lopsided smile as he finishes his bowl of ramen, sitting at the counter in front of Mark's—that remains full and cold by now.

"What, you think y/n's gonna be scared of all this handsomeness?"

Mark's face is expressionless while looking at Haechan, who's feeling himself to add to the point. And Mark has missed you a lot, but he thinks that the faster he gets a break from his chaotic roommate, the better. He can't wait to have a week free of the jokes and headaches Haechan causes to him, because Haechan will have you to annoy. Even when he will still be working, to Mark, that sounds pretty much like a vacation.

"Nah, dude. It's fucking cold, you'll get sick."

"You will get sick if you don't get anything to eat as soon as you make it to work," Haechan answers back as he gets up from his chair and puts his favorite Michael Jackson t-shirt on. "Promise me you'll order."

"Yeah, I promise," Mark sounds sincere. A quick hug and a few pats on each other's back and Mark is opening the front door, one step out ready to leave for a late night music session. "Please receive y/n well for me–

"Y/n!"

Screams and laughs from both you and your brother fill the little apartment, as you greet and hug him after almost four months without seeing each other. Just in time, is what Haechan thinks while observing the cute interaction and gently caressing his belly from underneath the t-shirt because, well, he is really confident but (even though he has known you for years and you've shared many moments together) he's not confident enough around you to show himself like that. At least not yet.

His face lights up as soon as he sees you extend your arms in his direction, and Haechan manages to squeeze you into a warm hug, spinning you in the air while the both of you laugh.

Your brother says his goodbyes, and Haechan tells him there's a chance they could meet up at Johnny's later, in case he wants to join in after work.

"Alright, I'll get there with Taeyong later then."

He waves to the both of you and closes the front door, leaving you alone with Haechan.

"Take a relax, bro," he offers you to sit at the counter, making you giggle after hearing the famous line after months. You observe him filling a cup with water and placing it in front of you before speaking again. "Want some ramen?"

"Hell yeah. I'm starving."

"Let me heat it up for you."

But he was already on it even before you answered. Haechan knows well he's very good at turning the simple dish into a delicious meal, and that it's one of your favorite things to share since you two met.

You wouldn't say it was love at first sight, but maybe adoration since the first encounter. Only weeks after your brother moved to start studying, he invited you over because he was missing home too much. And Haechan wouldn't be his apartment buddy until a year after, but they already frequented the same group of friends. The two of you were standing awkwardly in a corner at Taeyong's birthday party, and ended up at your brother's because you were hungry, eating ramen together: his secret recipe (that wasn't mysterious at all) that included tomatoes and scrambled eggs and that he only made for 'real special situations'. (He said you might be a lucky one.)

Haechan sets the bowl in front of you, the tomato scrambled noodles and eggs making your mouth water and curve in a smile. A ray of sunshine gets on the chair beside you even though it's almost midnight, and makes you feel at home, warming you even though it's freezing outside.

saturday, 01:47 a.m.

"So, how did you two meet?" Yuta asks, taking up the free space next to you on Johnny's couch and passing you two cans of beer. Exactly what you need after three rounds of karaoke with Johnny and Doyoung that are inexhaustible.

They're still going off strong in front of the TV, waiting for Mark to get back and join them in their madness.

"Oh, we're not together."

"Oh, that's for sure. I know you're not pulling any bitches, Haechan."

Haechan laughs dryly at the japanese boy, putting on his best expression of annoyance; tongue poking at his inside cheek and rolling his eyes, and he replies, "That's not true. I can pull anyone I want."

"Prove it," Yuta pushes him, because he knows that Haechan is an easy-going person, and always a good target for a challenge.

Haechan quickly scans the room while you busy yourself taking a sip of your can, not really wanting to get involved in Yuta's teasing, until he lands eyes on Jaehyun. The boy loves Haechan and is almost always up for some of his affection.

"Jaehyun's not an option," Yuta adds, the always good observant, and Haechan sighs very audibly before throwing his head back on the couch.

But he composes himself quickly to ask, turning slightly to you with his arm still firm around your shoulders. "Would you get with me? Hypothetically?"

Would you get together with Haechan, hypothetically? Considering the four-year crush you've had on your brother's best friend since the moment you met him, no, you wouldn't.

You would get with him for real. All of your friends say it's time you brave up and just confess to him.

"I mean… Yes?" you answer by looking at Yuta, trying to avoid Haechan's eyes that you know are set on the blushed skin of your face. "Haechan is not a bad match," you finish with a shy shrug, sinking yourself deeper on the couch and taking another long drink.

Haechan smiles contentedly at your answer, his chest filling with confidence, and gives you a kiss wet with beer on the forehead that gets you squeezed up to his body for a second. By the time he's done, you rest your head on his shoulder to return the affection, ignoring all the butterflies in your stomach and Yuta's knowing stare.

"Keyword there: hypothetically. But I said 'prove it.'" Yuta pushes a little more.

"Bro, you're so annoying." Haechan gets up from the couch and almost makes you spill all your beer while trying to get you up with him. "What, you want us to make out?"

Yuta nods, crossing his arms and spreading his legs on the couch that he has all for himself now, challenging the younger boy.

"Sorry dude, we're not into exhibitionism."

Haechan takes your hand to drag you away from the living room, but you can still hear Yuta's laugh and the words the two of you would end up choosing to ignore for the rest of the night—or the rest of the week.

"This is not how you're getting some, Haechan! Don't say I didn't try helping you!"

My Current WIPs April/May 2024

Heaven's Gate (for The Walking Dead) - Daryl Dixon x GN!Reader. Strangers to Lovers/Soulmates/Lovers Reunited. Angst, Fluff, Hurt and Comfort. Set during Season 1 to Season 5. 17k in counting (will be a oneshot). You can find a preview here. In this fic, you and Daryl get separated when the Governor attacks the prison, and though you both believe the other person is dead (or long gone) you find each other at the most unlikely time, in the most unlikely place.

I am super excited about this fic, and the themes of hope that I have woven into it. Because yes, I unironically love writing about hope and how the human spirit can persevere - which is something that my favourite moments in The Walking Dead show. This is first draft complete and just needs to be edited.

The Jaws of Life (for DC Titans) - Jason Todd x GN!Reader. Sequel to Emergency Contact. Lovers Reunited. Extreme Angst, Smut, Hurt and (some) Comfort. Set during Season 3. 21k in counting (will probably be a oneshot - if it needs to be split up, it will be put in two parts, but I hope I can get away with a oneshot). (I highly recommend that everyone go read the original in the meantime, because it is one of my best fics ever.) In this fic, you and Jason struggle with the new meaning of your relationship after what happened with Deathstroke - only for this tentative change to be harshly disrupted by the Joker. And you're still heavily mourning when a red hooded stranger breaks into your apartment one night, seeking medical care because apparently - you owe him one.

Everyone give Jaycen @nctzenkane a big fucking round of applause for this one, because he was randomly talking to me about Jason Todd today (we were having the 'some characters are only fuckable in costume' discussion) - and I got talking about how this version of Jason from Titans makes me so passionate to write about the character. And it is solely because of him that I opened up this fic and took a good look at it - I have been thinking about this fic for months, wanting to finish it because I know I am gonna be proud of it, but I kept hesitating because I thought I had a way bigger mountain to conquer with it. But the conversation I had with Jaycen really inspired me and I wrote 5k on the fic just today, and I realized that with this momentum, I could have the first draft done by the end of this month. So I am promising myself that this is gonna be done soon.

Speaking of which - when The Jaws of Life is first draft done, I wanna host a poll so you guys can decide which of those two ^^ fics goes through the editing process to be posted first. Both will be posted (hopefully) by the end of May, but I do wanna know which one you guys wanna see posted first. Which leads me to:

Nasty (for Stranger Things) - Sub!Eddie Munson x Dom!Fem!Reader. Established Relationship. Smut/PWP. 3k (this is gonna be a shorter fic lmao). In this fic, you and Eddie have been dating for a while, but you don't like that all of his attempts to have sex with you have him taking on a (seemingly fake) dom persona. When you finally tell him that you prefer to be more dominant in bed, he isn't disgusted like you thought he might be - he loves it.

This is one I have been sitting on for a while, and right before it was ready to be posted - my brain lost interest in it like tiktok does micro trends. But I think this is gonna be really great to post while the poll for those other fics is cooking because it's short and sweet and for the past few days, whenever I have seen the cover for this in my drafts, I have gotten excited about it again. So I am excited to finish it and show it off to everyone!!

Hello big brain, I wonder if you can help me figure something out about RWBY. I am trying to see more in Oscar, but the parts of his character that interest me the most are his background art and hints at the future, rather than any actions or dialogue he's had so far. The one exception is his conversation with Ruby about fear. I am down to clown with this show, I know and love the story of Tip and Ozma, but Oscar feels to me like sneak preview of something that hasn't aired yet. Who is this kid? What did I miss? How do I love the green boy?

In general, I think that if you are not particularly interested in Oscar... there is really nothing to do :''')

In my opinion, Oscar is one of the best written characters in how his story is well integrated in the main plot and rather thightly written. His development is perfectly interwoven with the events and it does not feel that the narrative has to take away time to focus on him. On the other hand this might be why you feel you can't pintpoint him so well. He grows a lot, but his development happens so naturally you might arrive at the end of it and ask: "Wait, what happened?"

Anyway, about the things you say interest you the most:

I am confused about what you mean by background art. Do you mean Oscar's room art? In any case, I don't think Oscar's background is so important tbh. His story really starts when Oz appears and its focus is his relationship with the Wizard and how it influences his sense of self - identity :)

You are right about a climax still needing to happen for Oscar's arc. I think he and Ruby are among the characters who will take a rather large portion of the final section of the story

In general, Oscar's foiling with Ruby is a good way to look at his character. I am gonna give you a rather schematic and synthetic overview.

Parents and Children

The crux of Ruby and Oscar's arcs is the relationship with a parental figure, that they decline in opposite ways:

Ruby's story starts with Summer's sudden disappearence

Oscar's story starts with Ozpin's sudden appearence

This is why Ruby sets off on a journey to follow into Summer's footsteps, while Oscar sets off on a journey to find out who he really is. They both meet Oz and go to a Huntsman Academy (Beacon-Choice for Ruby and Haven-Knowledge for Oscar). Still, they do so driven by different motivations.

Ruby wants to save the world (the macrochosm), while Oscar wants to become his own person (the microchosm). This difference is well conveyed through Ruby and Oscar's major ongoing motif: outside/inside.

Ruby is focused on the outside, so that she can avoid looking inside.

Oscar is focused on the inside, so that he has trouble dealing with the outside.

Leader and Teammate

Mistral is the arc where Ruby fully becomes the leader, while Oscar fully integrates with the main group. This happens especially after Oz's disappearence in volume 6. Then is when Ruby and Oscar have to step up in different ways:

Ruby has to shoulder the group (team-leader)

Oscar has to shoulder who he is (team-member)

Once again Ruby has to take care of the macrochosm. She needs to make sure others are okay and to bear everyone's fears and doubts. Oscar instead has to deal with the microchosm. He needs to face crippling self-doubt and to decide who he wants to be on his own.

This struggle is solved in the fight against Cordovin. There:

Oscar comes up with the idea to destroy Cordovin's missile launcher by observing from outside:

Oscar: Right, but her missile launcher doesn’t lock in, it pops out! Without her shields, one well-placed shot could detonate the missiles while they’re still in the launcher!

Ruby executes the plan and defeats Cordovin by acting from inside:

Jaune: The missile launcher springs out… but the raw dust gets locked in!

Ruby still gets an active role and Oscar is still passive, but they are still progressing. Finally, they succeed at becoming a leader and a member of the group, respectively:

Ren: You (Ruby) petrified a Leviathan... after diving down the barrel of a cannon!

Ruby: I mean, Oscar made a successful crash landing! He's a fourteen-year-old farm hand!

This new-found identities are tested in Atlas, where Ruby and Oscar meet a strong foil: Ironwood.

A New Approach

Ruby and Oscar both foil Ironwood, in opposite ways:

Ruby foils Ironwood when it comes to leadership

Oscar foils Ironwood when it comes to self-identity

As a matter of fact Ironwood is struggling to cope with Ozpin's disappearence, just like the 2 kids are doing. Ruby and Oscar just happen to comment different parts of his arc:

Ruby like Ironwood has to step into a role of leadership and wants to find a new approach. This is why she is intrigued by the Amity project. She also has to struggle with trusting others.

Oscar like Ironwood has to grow into his own person without Ozpin's guidance. This is why they are shown training together and growing closer. The way Ironwood treats Oscar is symbolic of the progress of his personal journey. It is not by chance Ironwood grows when he listens to Oscar (not Oz). They are both trying to become the best versions of themselves.

And yet, Ironwood falls and symbolically he does so by giving up on the Amity Project and by shooting Oscar. Still, Ruby and Oscar push forward.

Ruby is the one who ends up using Amity to tell the world the truth. Oscar instead doesn't give up on trust or who he is because of a failure. He keeps on trusting himself and others, even enemies. In this way, he succeeds at guiding Ozpin, whereas Ironwood never could.

Once again, you see Ruby taking care of the macrochosm, while Oscar takes care of the microchosm. Ruby warns the world, while Oscar warns Salem's inner circle.

At the same time, Ruby and Oscar also make progress with the crux of their arcs:

The Girl Who Fell Through The World

Oscar:  I thought the idea of falling through Remnant into a new world was exciting. I never understood why she was so sad when she finally made it back home. But now it makes more sense.

Ozpin: She wasn’t the same girl anymore.

Oscar is the one who introduces Alyx's story to the audience and he is the first character to relate to her. Oscar himself is like Alyx, after all. He left home and is changed by his journey. This makes so he is now not the same person as to when he left home.

Ruby goes through the same realization in volume 9, when she ends up specifically in the Ever After, the set of Alyx's story. She too is not the same happy child who left home to save Remnant. And she has to face this truth.

Once again, Ruby and Oscar are opposite and yet the same. They have similar fears and doubts, but face it differently:

Ruby is focused on the world and refuses to look inside, so she is forced by the narrative to make a deep dive into her own self. She falls in a world designed to challenge and eventually heal her.

Oscar is focused on the self and is definately one of the most introspective characters. I mean, he is literally the only one we hear the thoughts of thanks to his conversations with Ozpin. So, he doesn't need more introspection, but rather to act and to face challenges outside himself. This si why he doesn't fall, but is asked by the narrative to keep going even without Ruby to guide him.

In short, Ruby and Oscar have parallel arcs, but our Little Red is forced to go inside, while our Little Ozma has to wait outside.

Still, they are both asked to define who they are. This happens with some clear parallel scenes:

For example, Jaune lashes out on them, which sets them both off, but in the end their crisis has a positive resolution, since they both grow more into the people they need to be:

At the same time, they both fall:

But this fall ends with them successfully grabbing their weapons.

Grab your weapon! Get a hold of yourself!

Both Ruby and Oscar reach out to their weapons in parallel scenes. This happens because they are both getting a hold of themselves. Sure, their growth and journey is still not complete, but they are not lost. They are still themselves, despite all the changes. They are not the same children they were in the beginning, but they are still Ruby and Oscar. They are still Someones.

So, Ruby realizes she doesn't have to be Summer, but can be herself. Oscar instead realizes (well not really, but he is getting there) that he is still himself despite the merge with Ozpin.

About this it is interesting to notice how Ruby's wish is really Oscar's fear:

Ruby wants to become Summer

Oscar doesn't want to become Ozpin

The end result for both will be to realize they are their own people. Sure, they may grow similar to Summer and Ozpin and be influenced by them. Still, they are different people with ultimately different stories and destinies.

This is more or less where we are with Ruby and Oscar's story :)

Hello Wudge!!! I know working on such a beautiful and ambitious project must be incredibly tiring. I also know how encouraging it can be to know that people enjoy what you put out there, so I'm here to express my appreciation for Herotome and all the work you have put into it already!

I've been into visual novels for a couple of years now, and while I enjoy my occassional short and sweet dose of cheesy romance, most visual novels could never really satisfy my desire for a good narrative and a lot of time to get to know the love interests (As someone who really needs to know a person in order to get romantically involved with them, I've always found some love stories kind of rushed. That's just my preference tho). I know it's hard to develop a fully-fledged game, especially when you're an independent developer and mostly work for free, so I'm definitely not trying to undermine anyone's work!!!

However, this is why I was so stunned by how much Herotome's DEMO captivated me. Not even just the extended demo!!! The first time I came across this game was before the extended demo got released, and even then, I was so enamoured with the universe, the artstyle, the characters, the writing. EVERYTHING. I'm a bit ashamed to say I can be quite picky with my taste in visual novels, but Herotome literally ticked every single box for me. Visually appealing designs (both with the characters and with the UI!), a great mix of humour and sobriety, clear and skilled writing and awesome world building. All of this in A DEMO??? GOD DAMN, DUDE!

A literal demo unironically managed to put this visual novel among my absolute favourites simply because of how much work and care was put into it. I really hope it gains more attention even before it gets fully released, because you truly deserve the same level of support that games like Our Life (my #1 fav VN, can't wait for OL2) have. I know it'll probably be a while before Herotome gets released, but I'll try my best to wait patiently because I can't wait to see more of everyone! (especially Dart and Jade, I love them.)

I'm really sorry for the whole essay over here, but I just wanted to make my support clear!!! Unfortunately I don't have the possibility of financially supporting (yet) but I'm over here awaiting every update of this game with so much excitement you have no idea (⁠ᗒ⩊ᗕ ྀི) Good luck and stay healthy!

Worldbuilding is a area where I've felt particularly lacking -- like, I make a point avoid thinking about it most of the time, so in the rare instances I actually do put in effort it feels like it's coming up short? Maybe not so much in the demos, but nowadays I'll be standing around thinking about how things work in the society of Rhineway and trying to plan out ideas of what's gonna come up in the routes and my brain will inevitably feels like television static by the end.

SO to be praised for worldbuilding gives me a bizarre yet flattered feeling (sort of like "I'm not sure I deserve this but I guess I've done something right"), thank you, and I'm continually touched that people enjoy the humor! I really try to put in a lot of throwaway jokes where it's like -- if you don't laugh, it's totally fine cuz it goes by pretty quick -- but it is nice to know I've made people laugh. Or at least have an sensible inward chuckle :')

ok sorry I have a lot of thoughts about this ep so hope this is ok 😭

1. I am genuinely hopeful for a topmew reconciliation and I think the beginnings of it could start as soon as next ep? I don't think it'll be quick or easy but I do think a lot of things are gonna click in place for mew when top is taking care of him while ray is nowhere to be found. also I think he needed to self destruct a bit before he could forgive top. 2. FUCK RAY AND I MEAN THAT!!!! his stans can victimize him all they want but he is the nastiest character aside from boston. the way he treats sand and mew is downright vile but he keeps getting excuse after excuse. (Also sidenote as much as I hate it I think raymew needs to happen once just so they can both get it out of their systems and quickly realize it'll NEVER work). also I know I'm a mew apologist but is no one gonna talk about how ray knows mew just got his heart broken and is still gonna try to be with him while he is kind of seeing/has feelings for sand? he's gonna put mew through hell again?? but he's SO much better than top apparently.

since this anon kinda gets into some bridgerton spoilers, i'm gonna put it behind a keep reading so in case you haven't seen it yet, nothing is spoiled for yall :)

i'm gonna make a whole post on my feelings for part one bc omg i have so many, but i'll go into some detail about how i feel now.

BOOK SPOILERS ARE IN HERE (so if you don't want to know anything at all about this season/book, turn back now)

i was interested to see how things played out with eloise and pen strictly bc in the books, since LW has been doing it for so long, eloise isn't all that upset at finding out about pen being her.

but in the show, i was curious to see how they would make el and cressida work. and i think it sort of works. but my whole thing is, i can't stand c. like i get why she acts the way she does, but compare her to pen who is basically in the same situation.

pen also comes from a family that is mean to her and doesn't treat her well. she is also in competition with the ladies of the ton (and not only them but her own sisters at one point) to find a man, and yet she isn't mean. she doesn't pick on others to make herself feel bigger. her and c are basically one in the same, but the difference is that pen is internal with her negativity while c boasts herself as something more while simultaneously not feeling like she measures up.

this obviously brings into the question LW, but i think in a way pen isn't really saying anything the ton isn't already thinking. she's just making it widely known. in a way, she's the gossiper for all ppl - the rich and poor. so while yes, she can be mean in the LW columns, she's really only saying what everyone was saying to her and around her. and even then, she's also bringing herself down by reporting on herself and her family, which puts her in even more negative withstanding.

i kinda wish they would have kept c mean just for the sake of being mean, not have the audience try and pity her in a way. i think it would have been more entertaining if she was just rude bc she was never taught to be nice, rather than it being a desperate ploy to get a man before everyone else while being deeply insecure. idk. in my own personal experience, while you have bullies that are bullied themselves, which is why they act the way they do, some ppl are just destined to be dicks lol

and pen will definitely reveal herself as LW to colin, and probably her family and the bridgerton family. but i don't see it being shared with the rest of the ton only bc that kinda defeats the purpose of the show. in the books, there is the whole carriage scene, but then she continues being LW even tho colin thought they both agreed to her stopping it then and there. but regardless of that (since that won't work in the show), i think she'll reveal it right before they get married, and some form of drama will occur.

also.. and don't take my word for this since it hasn't been confirmed or anything, but i heard there's gonna be another carriage scene so……… maybe we'll get that from the books after all lol

(plus the mirror scene... plus an apparent montage of them fucking so............... i'm sat and ready)

as for what's gonna happen in part two, i have seen some spoilers so i won't say them since i highly doubt you want to be spoiled, but from the little preview they did show (plus some bts i've seen that has been going around twitter from some news network that went on the set to film them do part 2) i think like the books c is gonna confess to being LW and that's what makes pen pass out. and then she's gonna try to counter c with her own LW column calling her out, and then she'll get caught by colin. i think a variation of that is gonna play out.

i'm just hoping that by the end her and eloise are friends again. bc their scenes in this first half… i literally cried twice. especially at the "would you like to come up" part. it just hits a bit close to home in a way for me.

i just can't wait for what's gonna happen. like i need this second half NOW.

once again an episode that made me absolutely lose my mind!!! kp are so in love and they finally said it!! although, i would have liked it better if they said it to each other in private first but oh well can't have everything. and porsche is officially a stay at home wife i love that for him. the scene when p was drying kinn’s hair though, it was the softest shit i have ever seen in my life <3 i also loved the scenes with taytime they are always so good i wish they had more screen time. 1/4

and we got the kimchay breakup :/ i was expecting it but it still hurt. I still have hope that they will end up together. however, the most important part of this episode (for me) was vegaspete!!! god these two make me go insane. the way we went from sadistic torture to that convo at the end. bible and build's chemistry is actually unbelievable i can't get enough of these sick motherfuckers. and don't even get me started on the cinematography like the lights and the shots and just the whole atmosphere it was so good and so sexy and I’m gonna need 3-5 business days to recover. that preview was the final nail in my coffin i don't think i can wait a whole week for more. I’ve read some metas about them but honestly I don’t even care if vegas changes for pete or not. their relationship is so fucked up on so many levels that I don’t think it can really be redeemed. certainly not in 3 episodes. and honestly does he need to be? can’t he just stay the fucked up villain that he is? I wouldn’t mind. I’m just here to enjoy some toxic fictional men be sexy and gay and so far they did just that so I’m satisfied. -Kendall. Ugh. KENDALL. Ok, here is why I'm anti-Kendall right now (pre their conversation, they're currently walking along the beach). They were engaged/together for like 2 years and it sounds like he moved to LA for her and hated it and wanted to move back to Chicago and she wouldn't even consider it so they broke up? So like he tried for her but she wouldn't try for him. So it seems pretty shitty of her.

-but also they seem like they do need closure? Just not on TV.

-Kendall seems nervous, I can actively hear her voice wavering. She's like on the verge of tears. Jk she's crying now

-I feel bad for Serena but also she is 23 and he's 35 and that's SUCH a huge difference. Like I understand age gaps happen, but I feel like at 23 you still are going to change so much and they are in very different points in their lives. It still sucks for her, though. I really like Serena.

-ok it is confirmed she "didn't want to end up in Chicago" and that's the big thing and she didn't even want to try. And tbh I think the way she's doing this is shitty because she wants "closure" and then tried to leave out this whole big part of their relationship. And it sounds like she changed her story about why she came when she realized Joe wasn't falling back into her arms

-Kendall is talking to the girls and I feel like Becca and Natasha have shit to SAY but they are just making faces

-I'm bored by Noah and Abigail. Next!

-why are we still on Mari? I sort of wonder if she and Kenny get back together because they're focusing a lot on her feelings for him.

-I will say now that I have not been spoiled for anything. The only thing I'm fairly certain of is that Kenny gets engaged because the previews show a guy holding a ring box and it's clearly his tattoos/necklace. Now I'm wondering if it's Mari because they're focusing a LOT on her and her feelings for him

-Demi not being able to handle rejection is incredibly annoying. She is handling this like a literal child. He is a 40 year old man and she keeps talking about how much more "fun" she is than the other girls. Like maybe he isn't looking for fun, maybe he's looking for an actual relationship? JESUS and then offering to fuck him after he basically tells her he's still going to pursue things with other girls? Like I can't tell if her ego is so big that she cannot wrap her head around a guy liking someone else or if her self esteem is so low that she's having a mental breakdown

-ok I know Pieper comes on and I KNOW Brendan is a fucking liar and I CALLED IT from episode one. What a POS. I can just feel it coming

Once upon a time

A/N welcome to day three (almost day four. Nothing like procrastinating) of Kitten's valentines day event. Here is a request by anon for a cinderella au with those horrid red crocs. I tried blending seriousness with a touch of comedy (God knows I specialise in angst) hopefully it comes off well. Bone apple teeth.

The ball to find your prince was tonight. A long awaited night as you brush your hair staring into the vanity. Lips and cheeks painted with light pinks with a blush dress to match. The dress acting as a preview for what is to come, a mock wedding dress if you will. Elegantly and obnoxiously long train, paired with the classic princess ball gown that flairs at your waist.

Heart pounding in your chest you stand waiting in your glass slippers, hair braided and pinned half up and half down to frame your face as it trundles down to your delicate shoulders.

"And now for our lady of the night, Princess Y/N!" A quick gulp before you step through the opening doors, smiling brightly at the throngs of men who have attended all wearing masks of blinding colors in hopes to be seen.

To be remembered.

Your night is spent mostly whisked around in nauseating circles handed off from man to man. You go from two toned hair, to a blabbering bright blonde, passed off to a jaded eyed man before you're head is spinning.

The jade eyed man is, how can you put it nicely?

Well you can't he's boring. An utterly ball of nerves boring. His hands are slick with sweat and he can barely hold eye contact to save his life as he says sorry every step of the dance despite not making a single error.

"May I?" A smooth voice inturrpts the emerald eyes apologies. You drink in the handsome man in stunning deep red that makes his gem eyes pop. Finaly excited for the first time tonight.

"Y...you may." He stammers passing your hand to a calloused hard working hand. A feeling you are unused to as most of the other men's hands were smooth. His other hand finds the small of your back as he sweeps you into a pleasantly slow paced dance.

"Your name my dear?" The first you've asked for this whole night. He smiles a sharp toothed smile as his velvet voice caresses your before agitated nerves.

"Ejirou." A shiver runs down your spine as you fixate on this stunning broad shouldered man.

Another turn before you notice that he has swept the two of you onto one of the many balconies just off of the hall.

"Ah look at the moon over head Eijirou!" He hates to admit that he loves the sound of his name on your lips. He bites his own trying and failing to remind himself that he does not truly belong here.

But a night with a beautiful princess is all he ever wished for.

You brace yourself agaisnt the railing as you stare into the face of your favorite celestial body. All the while ruby eyes watch your dainty form.

"Isn't it beautiful?" You sigh melting as you swoon over your first love. Eijirou places his hand on the balcony around you, pressing his hip to yours.

"No where near as beautiful as you." He breaths, leaning down to kiss feather soft lips. Rough hand pulling a slender waist impossibly closer as he deepens the kiss.

Bells chime overhead causing him to gasp out.

"Its midnight." He sounds panicked as he tries to take a step back. Eyes frantically looking for the exit.

"Why yes," You blink confused, hand clutching his blood red lapel, "But the party is until sunrise."

"I've got to go. Now. I'm sorry." He says as he rushes away while you're right on his heels.

Although he is much faster and much more hardy than you. You stop to catch your breath as he rushes down the endless stairs in front of the castle.

"Eijirou how will I find you?" He stops short at your request turning ever so slightly, disappointment and sadness well in his eyes as he answers.

"You can't." Another chime rings out sending him into a full on sprint as one of his blood red dress shoes fall wayward on the long stair case. You rush to clutch onto the shoe another chime rings out and by some magic the deep crimson dress shoe distorts into something horrifyingly grotesque.

A birght red slipper with holes and a band that would sit atop the heel or the top of the foot depending if one wanted it to be in "sport" mode or not.

You scrunch your nose especially after seeing little charms of different shapes and sizes ranging anywhere from a fire truck to the classic cartoon meat bone.

"What the fuck?" You murmur to yourself as you look over the odd shoe, debating if it would be worth it to attempt to find the handsome man with terrible taste in footwear.

A flash of ruby red burns hot in your memory as you stand calling off the rest of the ball to summon your best scouts.

"We will go over the entire land to see who fits this shoe!"

True to your word you spend countless weeks that bleed into months exhausting all resources to find your prince charming.

Men across the nation line up outside of their homes in hopes of fitting the red shoe. Some men spy the shoe and turn inside, while others step out in a clearly immitated bright red holed filled slipper.

Still your search is fruitless as you begin to run out of both men and houses to check. You stand in front of your last house for the day as two men rush from the door as a window shutter is slammed shut overhead.

"Princess!" They sing song in unison, "We brothers are the owner of the shoe!"

Your eyes rove over a bright blonde male and a short purple haired boy whose eyes pop from their sockets as they stare at your form. Even as you're wearing pants.

"Hmmm, my prince to be had red hair." You state, "Men we are mistaken let us leave at once."

"W..wait your highness, you have not even tried to place it on our feet yet! At least give us that much." They beg as you pinch the bridge of your nose.

"Fine." With a snap of your fingers the horrific item is presented to you atop a velvet black pillow. You grab onto the item and place it to where a foot can be slipped in.

The blonde tries first, his toes poking out through some of the holes, popping out a fire truck charm as he attempts to shove his foot in.

Immediately you withdraw to present the shoe to the small boy. His foot barely fills the slipper causing a great sigh to leave your lips.

Tears threaten to spill over as you think that you may never find your one true love. You place the slipper back onto its pillow before you begin to climb the stairs to your carriage.

"Princess wait!" That velvet voice you had grown to love shouts as your frantically look for the source. He comes out in tattered clothes, soap suds clinging to his elbows as stains litter the cloth.

All the while the other two men are dressed in finary that could rival your own.

You look down to see he is wearing what must be the other slipper. As more of those ghastly charms twinkle in the dying light of the sun.

"Ah this is just our step brother. Please pay him no mind." The blonde says before elbowing him harshly, "Get back into the house you idiot!"

He clutches the scrub brush in his hands, ruby eyes glancing between you and his evil step brothers. He turns on his heel only for you to shout, fearing you may lose the man of your dreams again.

"No, he will be sized by the shoe. Should it fit he is mine to wed." The slipper is brought back to you once more, delicate hands wrap around the bright material as the red head presents his foot to you.

The God awful footwear fits and tears of joy stream down your face.

"E...Eijirou is it really you?" He nods shyly, embarrassed that he is in essentially a potato sack compared to what he wore the night he met you.

It was all with the help of an angry godfather who loomed in the courtyard the night of your ball.

"So you're just gonna let these assholes tell you you can't go?!" The Godfather had yelled, fingers popping with magic.

"Don't be a bitch." He bites out, turning a rotting carcass into a stunning white horse, "You're going and that's final."

Popping hands burning through Eijirou's tattered rags. Just a Phoenix something new rises from the ash. A beautifully tailored suit adorned with a bright red mask glimmering in the night like sparkling rubies.

"But you have until midnight to get the hell out of there." The GodFather snarls, "What are you waiting for a fucking invitation? Go kiss the damn girl! Just remember I said midnight and don't fuck this up."

He had left after that in an oversized explosion leaving nothing behind but the smell of sweet burning caramel.

Eijirou silently thanked the Godfather as he spun his princess around, cheeks burning from smiling so hard and feet sheathed in firetruck red crocs.

And they lived happily ever after.

I wanted to wait until I’d read the full issue to analyze, especially since I wasn’t sure what was going on with some of the amalgamated characters. Having read it, I’m still not sure what was going on with a couple of them. Did I miss some obvious detail? Because that just seemed to be Sarah Kinney to me. I may need to re-read.

This issue leans hard into the shared thematic space between Laura and Wanda: weaponization. This idea of being crafted from birth for violence. Most people aren’t used to thinking of Wanda in those terms, but that’s her backstory too. To be a vessel is to be a weapon, an object. Playing that up doesn’t make her less Wanda. It’s just a different way of looking at Wanda.

The execution, I”m not so sure about. This issue is not told from Weapon Hex’s perspective. She barely speaks, and a good chunk of her dialogue is just runes. We don’t get a sense of her personality, and we learn precious little about her as a human being. The issue introduced too many elements when it should have kept a tight focus on its title character.

The story is about Laura (Lauranda? Can I call her Lauranda?) being dehumanized. She is treated like an object by most of the other characters. It’s a problem that she’s not treated as the protagonist by the narrative. It means that the themes of exploitation and objectification can only be name-dropped and not fully explored.

I also suspect that parts of this first issue will be confusing if you’re not familiar with Laura’s backstory. Not just the general idea of her background, but specific things that happened in the comics.

But I didn’t hate it. The execution just wasn’t as strong as it could have been, given the premise. I hope the second issue dives more into Lauranda (yeah, I’m calling her that) and her inner life, and that maybe she can appear later in some alternate universe books.

Also, to the anon who mentioned that her name changed from Wanda (in the solicits) to Laura (in the finished book): that was weird. Sometimes, things change after the solicits are released, but I’m not sure what purpose that change served.

(Gary anon) Heh, true. Not condoning his behavior, but it's not like he was out causing trouble for everybody. Just had a swelled head. (I think I saw that; as much as I am accustomed to fandoms having waaay misinterpreted views on a media in question, there are just some that makes you question if you're even watching the same material) He has no reason to show out to his grandfather. (At least not in the same way he does with other people. It's more the equivalent)

(Part 2) (of a kid excitedly showing their parent they got an A+ on a test so it can put on the fridge; rather than bragging to other students you got the highest score) Helps that Delia has known Oak for a long time. (I feel like with Pallet Town, they know the Oaks are just people, but it's cool to live in the same place as a celebrity that you can't help yourself sometimes) Speaking of that episode, the summary dropped, looks this is a shared mission goal between Goh, Gary and Tokio.

(Part 3) Tokio even got mentioned as another Goh *rival. (Still think the writing on this is a mess. Though this episode IS something I've been wanting, but now that we're near endgame, I'm having a hard time seeing Goh get pushed down again. Gonna wait for the preview this week) Hmm, Gary doesn't strike as someone that would run off into trouble after something like. More like, heavily isolate to gather his thoughts [only allowing his Pokemon near him] or burying himself

(Part 4) in work/training to keep himself from lashing out. (Especially considering we still haven't gotten a contest episode with Dawn. I think it might something else) If Paul still has his old attitude; which I doubt, it defeats the purpose of the rivalry. I don't expect him to be completely chummy, but not full-on jerk. (There's a chance Goh might not meet Paul at all. He didn't with Volkner. Him and Brock didn't share too much either after greetings) Yeah, I saw some not want Paul

(Part 5) back because they fear his story will be ruined; since returns in JN have been hit-or-miss with people. I only expect a 2-parter with him at most. (I don't see any reason to another Infernape vs. Electivire; much less it having to conquer again) I have another idea on where Infernape could be used again, it really depends on what happens after Leon. Same with the rest of Ash's aces. (Not having anything air on that date would feel like a missed opportunity. Even just an announcement)

True, I don't think he was every really a bad kid--just cocky and mischievous and kind of a brat. We've definitely seen worse (read: Paul's troubling unchildlike behavior).

If it was that secretpokemonconfessions post yeah, that's the one I'm talking about. (I miss that blog, by the way. There were some hilarious submissions.) But yeah, some takes really do make you wonder where that idea would even come from.

Definitely. His show-offy tendencies are a separate thing from the "are you proud of me Grandpa? :D" moments. (Which is very cute by the way, reminds you beneath all his bluster he's really just a kid who wants the person who raised him to be proud of him.)

I just think of how when I was a kid in a small town where just about everyone knew just about everyone, it was really hard to be seen as my own person separate from my folks--I remember sometimes other kids would approach me just to talk about my more talented siblings (I am over this now, but at the time it was very frustrating).

But anyway! Oh, yeah, I saw that! The wording of the summary feels like Gary and Tokio are already together when Ash and Goh cross paths with them, which is interesting. (I sense a new OT4 on the horizon.)

True, but it’s possible Professor Rowan wouldn’t know that for sure and would want to keep an eye on the kid. Make sure he stays safe because he’s a stubborn kid who hates failing, and he’s also just a kid who is currently Rowan’s responsibility. He didn’t even go looking for trouble the first time--trouble found him, and considering how swiftly that situation escalated, he’s lucky he came out unscathed that time.

I want a contest episode so much, I love contest episodes. Whenever I’m rewatching a bunch of AG or DP episodes I’m usually only halfway paying attention, but contest episodes get my full attention because appeals and contest battles are so fun to watch. I’m a coordinator at heart and it shows.

True. I fully expect him to still be aloof at best, even if he’s less awful because Ash challenged his worldview and won in the end--he doesn’t strike me as being a people person by any means and that’s not likely to ever change (this isn’t part of why I hate him, I’m not much of a people person myself; I mostly hate him because he’s an abuser and I’m an abuse survivor who sees my own experiences reflected in Chimchar).

Yeah, it’s possible Paul and Goh won’t even meet at all.

That’s the thing that worries me most, yeah. He was such a strong character in DP (though this was dampened a bit by how like, everyone except Ash kept making excuses for him despite how blatant his abuse of Chimchar was--even Brock, which is very disappointing when you look back on how Brock almost decked a guy in OS for similar behavior) and I don’t know what the writers intend to do that won’t damage that.

Some returns have definitely felt more... beneficial to the characters than others. I’m biased but Gary’s return (as an example) was very much needed after what DP put him through. I can’t imagine what the intention is with Paul’s return beyond “powerful opponent Ash has fought before shows up and they fight again” (returns to this effect have felt less interesting to me in general; Iris doesn’t fall into this category though, I thought hers was pretty good).

I guess we’ll see how it all plays out.

I wonder if there’s anything they’re keeping under wraps for the anniversary. Something will probably get posted on the social medias.

i want oh aew to find someone new so so much but i just know it's not gonna happen. oh aew is not a protagonist (no more 'two male protagonists' i guess lmao), he is only there to prop teh's development and thus his role is just 'teh's boyfriend'

it's funny bc i /knew/ since i saw the opening credits that oh aew was not gonna be prominent this season apart from being teh's boyfriend: we see bkpp first in the credits, then jai alone, just like bkpp (important role then), then khim and top together (not as important bc they aren't alone in frame but still, they are after jai) and then we see oh aew's friends ALL TOGETHER in one frame, the last ones, that's when i knew. it sucks bc ltip was oh aew's pov and i thought that meant ipytm was gonna continue with that but guess not.

I am guessing it's bc they wanted to explore the acting world through teh so oh aew had to be transferred to another major so they could focus only on teh and his development as a character. it sucks bc while it is in character some of the things he is doing, it just feels repetitive? teh is confused about his feelings (again) and now it's oh aew = tarn; jai = oh aew, the storyline thread seems the same, it's a cycle and yeah, in real life it's like that sometimes but this is a tv show, you HAVE to show growth in the character, from one season to another, rn its just feels like teh didn't learn anything in itsay, he just became older (and more of an ass).

also the "changes" in oh aew, what are they? like i only see superficial changes: his major, his car, his hair, but personality wise? he is the exact same as in itsay, he didn't change? so teh's feelings about it are just not understandable to me, and seem SO superficial? it's like he only fell in love with oh aew bc he had the same dream as him, which isn't true (at least from what i understood in itsay) so like, what is it? i just don't get it and again, everything seems so superficial in general and it lacks the depth and complexity of itsay for me (i guess the time skips are partly to blame for that)

idk it's just disappointing i guess, i loved itsay so much, i loved these characters so much and now i just don't feel anything anymore? i am apathetic towards all of it and i hate it bc i spent so much time waiting for part2 that i just feel like i wasted my time.

i didn't even think that about the opening credits but you're so right :((( it's weird how inconsistent everything is in terms of the povs...i totally thought the same about ltip bc there was so much focus on oh-aew, but then they really only continued on with oh-aew's feelings in ep 1 and everything basically got resolved for him by the end of it.

yesss, that's why it feels so much like teh's taken all these steps back in ipytm. like yes, it's obv this is his personality and so technically everything he feels/does is consistent with his character...but it's also like the development we got by the end of itsay's been revoked. so he's regressed only to grow again, rather than just grown more from where he initially was. if that makes sense? and bc we've already seen him act like this before, it's harder to sympathise with him now bc you'd think he'd have learnt something more the first time he went through this (and ESP now that he's older). so even though this is technically something different, it's similar enough that it feels like a rehash of his previous experiences.

i really think this is def a case of where they told too much instead of SHOWING us oh-aew's changes/why their relationship had deteriorated so much in teh's eyes. like we hear him say the words (and see all the superficial ways oh-aew's changed), but that's not enough for us to actually understand WHY things have changed so drastically for teh in regards to their relationship since the last ep. and also just why he doesn't try harder (or at all tbh) to make things work between them. he did so much for oh-aew in itsay, you could tell how much he loved and cared for him...which is why it's so strange to watch this ep and see how cold he's grown towards him since.

yeah...itsay gave me this fluttery excitement every week. i couldn't WAIT for new eps...but ipytm kind of just leaves me dreading new eps bc it's nowhere near as enjoyable to watch. like i'm still interested in knowing what happens in the last two eps, but it doesn't feel the same anymore. the cast and crew really were right when they said it's like watching two entirely different shows...

whatever happens in ipytm, i already told myself before it aired that i was going to separate the two shows in my mind (also partly bc i love itsay so much that i didn't think anything would ever live up to my love for it anyway). i'm SO glad that itsay at least gave us a proper ending so it can still act as a standalone series by itself as it's genuinely one of the shows that comforts me the most (and i'm not gonna let my sad ipytm feelings ruin that for me no matter what).
