Way to Dawn and X-blade Particle effects comparison
I don’t know if anyone’s mentioned this yet, but I was recently watching a BBS play through when I noticed- Hey. The particle effects for the X-blade looked REALLY similar to Riku’s Way to Dawn. Like. Pretty much EXACTLY THE SAME, besides the color as they are fading.
I’ll post some images here for comparison
X-Blade effects, Vanitas fight BBS:
(Sorry for the awful image quality lmao)
Riku’s Way to Dawn, Kh2:
I can’t be the only one who finds that really really weird, no?
The end part of the animations does have some differences, but really only in color. Even the shape they form as they fade away is exact.
X-blade, Vanitas:
(Sorry Ven- it’s for science-)
These ones are an orange/yellowish color
Then for Riku’s Way to Dawn:
Kh2:
His start out a bit yellow at the center then fade to blue
They are also like this in Kh 3D
Some bonus images:
Vanitas Fight, BBS:
This is how I originally noticed the effects, because I got a good look at them down on the attack command panel in the corner.
And here’s Xehanort’s in kh3, when he has the X-blade:
I feel like his are a bit more red?
Anyways, yeah. That’s that. It’s pretty odd in my opinion. I also don’t think any other keyblades share these effects, either, but if anyone else finds anything then please post it lol
I had originally posted this in a discord server I’m in, and a few of the people there (including myself) theorized that it could be related to how the X-blade isn’t truly the final form of it’s“X-blade series”. That it’s like the “Way to Dawn” of its respective line, not having arrived at its final evolution yet, still on the path to get there. That’s just one interpretation, but I do quite like it.
What do you guys think?

So I guess I won’t tag them in case they don’t wanna be but I got two separate Waffles things in the mail today from two diff people and I will sob. (By waffles I mean kilonova.)
I accidentally cut off the frame but it’s covered in candy. Because it’s all some picky ghoul ate for a while. Idk how to explain that the idea that anyone enjoys what I wrote that much makes my heart crack open. I have internal bleeding.

man you really articulated my own problems with how fandom treats Kiku...sorry for venting a little but: thank you for acknowledging this as a fellow AsaKiku fan because sometimes I feel so alone as an Asian AsaKiku-er who admittedly likes a more calculating take on the alliance (especially since that alliance was built on my country's colonization by britain 😔). i don't wanna vague so much but it's real uncomfortable seeing historical hetalia fic where the other characters are roughened and calculating empires, yet it's all nooooo Kiku is actually a blushing, shy, gentle bumbling boi who could never be imperialist, it's all his government, all he just wants to be sweet and happy with England! he never thinks about other Asians, but only about England!...excuse me.
it's such a disservice to separate Kiku from his other Asian relationships too, yet i see people doing that. and this soft boi Kiku so often is employed to downplay British imperialism too by erasing any tensions he'd have with Arthur (or any version of England) over British imperialism in Asia. I don't want yellow peril villains but going too far to the other end is just another brand of awful infantilizing orientalism. if people don't want to grapple with meaner versions of the characters at all in their ships, i genuinely say...go and write a human AU. the Anglo-Japanese Alliance era is soaked in imperialism from top to bottom and people who aren't asian really gotta respect asian history and understand kiku and his relationships with other asians first if they want to play in that.
THANK YOU for your perspective anon. Genuinely such hard agree on everything you are saying here.
Kiku is such a character I feel like you really need to know what’s up before you go to write him, because there’s so much cultural and historical weight behind him. Glad someone else in the Asakiku niche is thinking this too, because as much as I love that ship, I’ve definitely seen some…questionable content surrounding those too; as someone who also prefers a more calculated take on the alliance.
And you are so correct that it’s such a disservice to separate Kiku from his relationships with the other Asian nations. Especially also when people don’t give them the complexity they deserve. I’ll never understand the people who treat hetalia relationships as blood family relations…but especially with the Asian nations that’s um. Oh that’s not— in the sense that—
Let! Kiku! Be! A! Complex! Character!

I tried to make a oln&f character that can’t talk due to a phsychical injury. He ended up being able to talk but preferring not to because it’s painful. I’m not gonna be upset I couldn’t do this. I’m playing a beta build and even if we can’t make a fully non verbal or mute character we can still head canon our way through things. My boy Miłoz will still not talk 90% of the time.

so do vampires have to be careful about what blood types they drink together? cause if a blood cell encounters another blood cell that is of Enemy Type it will gather its friends and Attack which causes a blood clot so what do vampires do? hack into their chosen victims medical records? wait until their last meal has been pissed out and they’re essentially starving so there’s lower chance of blood mixing? do vampires piss? can they smell different blood types as an evolutionary development? do they have some sort of internal organ that strips the blood of it’s type?

If you’re still taking text fic requests, please do FWB situation with Love and Deepspace men but they catch feelings and confess 🤭 Thank you!
Hi nonnie!! I absolutely still am taking LADS texts requests, the brainrot is ongoing and never-ending, it seems🙏🏽🙏🏽 However, I’m so sorry but I cannot take this one, because the topic of FWB is extremely traumatizing to me, and I’m simply not able to broach the topic without feeling terrible and reliving the worst period of my life. It’s just related to my personal life, so I feel awful that I have to turn you down this time for such a reason🥹 But please, I encourage you to think of another request idea!! I’d love to write for you anything else that comes to mind as compensation ☹️💗💗💗

Regarding Volo at the moment, but also in general with any hardcore villainized characters, I certainly get the sentiment behind wanting to not woobify antagonistic characters too much, but also like. I think for me, when the primary fandom take away is that a character is HARDCORE IRREDEEMABLE, NO GOOD QUALITIES IN THIS ONE!!! it’s almost like… an act of balancing out. Yes, I get Bad Man did Bad Things, I’m a person with a brain, but when it seems like EVERYONE is talking about how the Bad Man did Bad Things and needs to be, generally, physically harmed for the Bad He Did, it just feels like an act of balance to say,
“Okay but why don’t we explore this line where he said he’s experienced trauma before? And how he instantly backs away from talking about it under the explanation he gave himself that everyone must experience trauma to that degree?”
Or, “Hey, the guy has three friendship evolution Pokémon, two of which notably will leave their trainers if they don’t like them. Why do people extrapolate from that that he must be an abusive trainer?”
Or, gods fucking forbid, “Hey. Why is this character, who’s notably got indigenous roots to the setting, constantly being made the villain in angsty stories for the two white twins?”
Idk man, again I get not wanting to woobify too much, not wanting to strip a complex character of their complexity and the like, but if your takeaway is that any sympathetic or nuanced takes on a heavily villainized character is “woobifying,” like… idk, touch grass as the kids say. Who’s going to stop me, the Anti-Wooby Police?
