“Melissa Roe,” 27 (USA 1992)

“Melissa” was 27 years old when she checked into Lutheran Medical Center of Brooklin on May 1, 1992 for a legal abortion. She was five months pregnant.

Even though it was a highly dangerous method that had been banned in multiple countries for decades, the abortionist decided on the saline method. This was done by injecting a toxic concentration of hypertonic saline into Melissa’s uterus. Even among abortion methods, it was an especially hazardous one.

Like so many others before her, Melissa was killed by the “safe and legal” saline abortion. She died of abortion complications on May 11, 1992.

Japan, Sweden and even the notoriously pro-abortion Soviet Union had banned the saline abortion method decades before Melissa’s death. Although the method has become less popular among the American abortion industry over time, the United States still has yet to ban the hazardous procedure.

5.   YOUR FAVORITE ORIGINAL VERSE OC (OR ONE OF YOUR FAVORITES) : ok she really might not count towards this because of being from a disney / marvel / next gen type group ( depends on your definition of original verse honestly, but since they were super au and set in a made up universe that i fleshed out i feel like all the characters there DO count ) but my number one forever is going to be rylie natalia barton. i've written her on and off since 2014 and she was originally a willa holland fc, though i recasted her for recent musings with my friend as diana silvers, because i think she's a great cast for a 'modern' rylie of a similar age to when i first wrote her. she's the daughter of clint barton & bobbi morse ( & step daughter of natasha romanoff ) and kicked off my whole barton cinematic universe that now includes uncle barney and his only kid, monica barton, and natasha's legal ward, ziva mizrahi. i just ... love her. this is her pin board & three songs from her inspo playlist that i think get her vibe are miss america by james blunt, tightrope by lp and hymn by kesha. she went through a LOT during her original run and was the character i did a three irl year alcoholism arc on that i am still like ... a little proud of, weird as that is to even say, because i feel like i wrote it well, and i just think that her character arc was one of the best things i ever did, tbh. she's always been the character i understood best and for a long time understanding her best and loving her most meant that i was going to give her a gruesome, too soon death, but as i've grown up and gotten myself into a better place and went on my OWN journey, she's now this character that i just want the absolute best for all of the time, even if she can only get to the best through a little more trouble. rylie is inspiration for a lot of characters i have written, but i've never been able to recreate her exactly, nor would i want to. she will always have a lil part of my heart and nobody else can ever take it<3

Loss of Grand Manan’s very own air ambulance makes impact after one week

The mayor of Grand Manan, N.B. says residents are cautiously optimistic about recent discussions to bring back the island’s very own air ambulance.

New federal regulations effectively grounded the service a week ago, (https://ift.tt/CnjLEkg ) after Ambulance New Brunswick and island-based Atlantic Charter were unable to form an agreement under the framework.

On Wednesday, the Moncton-based Ambulance New Brunswick medevac service was dispatched to Grand Manan for an emergency call. It was unable to land on the island due to weather.

A search and rescue helicopter from CFB Greenwood was sent to complete the emergency call.

“The good news is the patient made it to Saint John and is okay, at least the last I heard,” says Grand Manan Mayor Bonnie Morse. “I hear from a lot of people who are anxious about what will happen, or what could happen, if they or a loved one needs medical attention on the mainland. It leaves us in a really bad situation.”

On Thursday, village officials met with Premier Blaine Higgs, Minister of Health Bruce Fitch, and local Progressive Conservative MLA Andrea Anderson-Mason.

The new policies from Transport Canada regulate more rest and less flying time for pilots in a bid to address fatigue. Atlantic Charters says it would have to add more pilots in order to comply with the new standards, first revealed in 2018.

“I’m concerned it took us getting to this point to be able to have these conversations,” says Morse. “But at least the conversations are happening now.”

“We also had a conversation around designating Grand Manan as an isolated community because there are different restrictions and different requirements around that designation.”

Morse says island residents knew it would only be a matter of time before weather diverted an emergency flight from the mainland, adding it’s happened several times during previous lapses of a Grand Manan-based medevac service.

“There’s a difference between just being worried about something and having a reason to be worried,” says Morse.

In a written statement Thursday, Atlantic Charter said it had outlined pending issues ahead of the Transport Canada deadline “numerous times” with Ambulance New Brunswick and the provincial government.

“We are saddened by the position we have all been put in and look for a resolution with the province that benefits our community,” said Melanie Sonnenberg, President of Atlantic Charter.

The Wagatsuma 25 (Japan, ~1965)

In 1965, Dr. Wagatsuma published a study assessing the safety of saline abortion, which was legal in Japan at the time. In a single study, he reported and documented no less than 25 maternal deaths from “safe and legal” saline abortion.

Saline instillation abortion is an abortion method that works by injecting hypertonic saline into the uterus, causing the fetus to suffer chemical burns, massive internal bleeding and death. This method was advertised as being safe by the abortion industry, but this couldn’t have been further from the truth. Maternal side effects included but are not limited to hypernatremia, amniotic fluid embolism, uterine rupture, sepsis, saline in the bloodstream, brain damage, coma, convulsions, internal bleeding, kidney failure, extreme pain and death.

More doctors and scientists published similar findings with even more fatalities. Over 70 papers were published in the Japanese medical community reporting hazards of saline abortions, including a massive number of maternal deaths. The Japanese Obstetrical and Gynecological Society condemned the technique, and it was quickly abandoned and banned for extreme hazards.

Multiple countries followed Japan’s example and banned saline abortions. Even the notoriously pro-abortion Soviet Union banned the method for its dangers. talk 2 me about who you think Melanie's dad was I think they played a lot of Scrabble and she swore at him every time he put down all his letters. I think he grew tomatoes and chillis in the kitchen window and smacked her hand away when she stole bits of pepper off his chopping board. I think he had a detective TV habit and now she gets an ache in her chest when she sees Morse or Elementary or Midsommer Murders. I think when she broke down in tears and rage he would loudly pull up a chair on the other side of her bedroom door so she knew he was there, and sit there in silence and wait for her to talk. I don't think he ever initiated hugs but if she came to him for hugs he'd just stand in place and hold her for as long as she needed to. I think she used to burn him CDs of a random assortment of music to play in the car and he always pretended to like it. I think he was pathologically conflict adverse and often struggled to hold his ground but he was so proud of Melanie for her stubbornness and principles even though she was an absolute nightmare to live with and she and her mum had daily screaming matches. I don't think she ever talked to him directly about anything traumatic that had happened to her because she worried about hurting him, but she felt like he understood anyway. I think he really liked reading Serious Literature and had very strong opinions on it. I think he worked in something public sector, client facing and with a slog of long office hours - jobcentre or social work or teaching administration or something. I think he had very strong political and religious beliefs and principles but tended not to talk about them much. I think he was quiet unless he had something to say and he always kept a very even temper. I think the angriest Melanie saw him was when she dropped out of sixth form. I think when the dementia started setting in one of the most disturbing things for Melanie was that he lost that calmness and sense of stability. I think he was someone who retreated from anger and who dealt with the constant anger around him by getting very quiet and distant and stepping out of himself while someone yelled at him, and that often left Melanie feeling like she'd been left very alone with whatever difficulties she was having.
