Week 3 - Moonlit Escapades

A strange energy seems to encompass Lake Jellicle National Park in the dead of night. The full moon shines brightly above the tree line, and the water reflects a star-filled sky. There are whispered stories of creatures and cultists supposedly living in the mountains. But are any of them true?

Tuesday 19th Quick Fic - Campfire Prompt A handful of campers are gathered around a fire in the middle of the forest. In an attempt to weed out any scaredy-cats, they begin to tell scary stories. Try and write about the campers attempting to frighten each other with tales or pranks. While our prompt is optional, we recommend it. Thursday 21st Art Challenge - Puppet Show Prompt Back at the main camp grounds, other campers are putting on a shadow puppet show. Draw the campers either putting on their show for the counsellors or designing/creating their craft puppets together. While our prompt is optional, we recommend it. Please do your best to adhere to the theme of the event. If you’d like, feel free to post your works in the #art-submissions channel in the Event category on Mistocord on the 21st!

Saturday 24th Movie Night - Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island (1998) Come join us in the Mistocord VC for our weekly film! 23:59GMT ‘Scooby-Doo and the gang reunite after a year-long hiatus. Daphne and Fred are determined to find real ghosts for their reality TV show, but have had no luck so far. However, during a visit to Louisiana, they chance upon a remote island supposedly inhabited by an undead pirate and his zombie crew.’ This is a Mistocord exclusive event. Mic muting will not be mandatory, and you may chat during the film if you choose. Individuals will have the option on their own Discord client to mute others if they’d prefer a silent viewing, and a guide on how to do so will be explained to new users of the platform. (A brief aside to address the lack of a Community Canvas last week. Unfortunately, with the intense weather combined with some illness, I haven't been able to work on large art projects without both my computer and myself struggling in the heat. This also means that this week's CC has additionally been cancelled. However, if the Discord community still shows interest, they may be brought back at a later date for non-Event specific completion. Thank you for your continued understanding and participation!)

My first week's submission for the Mistocord Summer event quick fic challenge. Munkustrap has to deal with his protective instincts while he and Bomabalurina supervise a group of Kittens that are out on a dropping and need to navigate back to Camp Jellicle in the black of night.

I’m gonna try to write a little something for each prompt of the Mistocord Summer Event 2022~

This week’s prompt was: Monday 4th: Quick Fic Challenge - Adventure Prompt Munkustrap is taking a cohort of plucky campers out on a hiking trail, but things inevitably go awry. Write about the group (canon characters/OCs) running into some sort of trouble in the forest, and how they are able to get out of it again.

I went a little off piste as I’m not overly familiar with the concept of a summer camp; this is based off the orienteering trips my school would take us on!

Week 2 - Lakeside Adventures

A quick thank you to all who participated in last week's prompts and activities!! I'd like to consider our first week of our Summer Event a success, so let's move into our second! Lake Jellicle National Park is unsurprisingly named after the beautiful lake that sits in the center of the valley. There’s all sorts of activities to take part in, including fishing, swimming, boating, and more! The big question is: Are Jellicle Cats fond of water?

Monday 11th Community Canvas - Making a Splash This week's Community Canvas will be sure to tide you all over! Your OC's have had a busy week at camp, and now they've got a whole day of free-time to spend by the lake! Just like before, draw your OC to match a preset pose, and submit your art to us so they can be added into the picture!! 20 slots are available this week starting on Monday. To claim a character slot, reply in the #cc-claims channel in the Event category on Mistocord - or alternatively, reply to the Community Canvas post on Tumblr when it is posted. Your submission must be completed in time for the reveal on Sunday 17th. This is an art challenge open to both Tumblr and Discord community members. These slots are first-come-first-serve. If you aren't able to secure a slot this week, don't worry! There will be one more opportunity to participate in the Community Canvas in the final week of our event!

Tuesday 12th Quick Fic - Fishing Prompt Lake Jellicle is home to all sorts of wildlife, but most notibly, it holds an incredibly diverse array of fish. Old Deuteronomy believes that the best way to learn about the native species is to catch them. Write about the campers being taken out to the lake for a fishing trip! While our prompt is optional, we recommend it. Please do your best to adhere to the theme of the event. Thursday 14th Art Challenge - Competition Prompt Down by the shoreline, an exciting raft building competition is happening under the watchful eye of the camp counsellors. Draw the winning and/or losing group of campers as they test their make-shift raft on the water! While our prompt is optional, we recommend it. Please do your best to adhere to the theme of the event. If you'd like, feel free to post your works in the #art-submissions channel in the Event category on Mistocord on the 14th!

Saturday 16th Movie Night - Lilo and Stitch (2002) Come join us in the Mistocord VC for our weekly film! 23:59GMT 'Lilo is a lonely Hawaiian girl who adopts a small ugly "dog," whom she names Stitch. Stitch would be the perfect pet if he weren't in reality a genetic experiment who has escaped from an alien planet and crash-landed on Earth. 🎉Mistocord Summer Event🌲

Week 1 - Welcome to the Wilderness

For our introductory week of our Summer Event, the focus is on those first few exciting days of Summer Camp. The grounds must be established, the tents pitched, and the wonder of the wilderness begins to set in. Our Jellicles will be embarking on hikes, wildlife surveys, and spending much of their time getting to know the stomping grounds of Lake Jellicle National Park.

Sunday 3rd: Community Canvas - Campsite Hustle This week's Community Canvas will see your OCs exploring the camp grounds, getting to know each other, and taking their first tentative steps into the wild. Draw your OC to match a preset pose, and submit your art to us so they can be added into the picture!! 20 slots are available this week starting on Sunday. To claim a character slot, reply in the #cc-claims channel in the Event category on Mistocord - or alternatively, reply to the Community Canvas post on Tumblr when it is posted. You will recieve a png file of the slot you've chosen to use as sizing reference. Your submission must be completed in time for the reveal on Saturday 9th. This is an art challenge open to both Tumblr and Discord community members. These slots are first-come-first-serve. If you aren't able to secure a slot this week, don't worry! Wednesday 6th: Artist Challenge - Wildlife Prompt Alonzo has given each camper a Spotter's Guide to Wildlife in order to conduct a survey. Draw the campers (canon characters/OCs) discovering and encountering different wild animals whilst out on the trail. While our prompt is optional, we recommend it. Friday 8th: Movie Night - The Cat Returns (Studio Ghibli) Come join us in the Mistocord VC for our weekly film! 23:59GMT 'High school student Haru rescues a cat from traffic and discovers the cat is actually a prince. The Cat King invites her to marry his son, and Haru is brought to the Cat Kingdom where she starts to develop feline features. When she is prevented from leaving, the Baron and Toto, two statues that have magically been given life, provide assistance in gaining her freedom.' This is a Mistocord exclusive event. Mic muting will not be mandatory, and you may chat during the film if you choose. Individuals will have the option on their own Discord client to mute others if they'd prefer a silent viewing, and a guide on how to do so will be explained to new users of the platform.

Week 1: Community Canvas

Here's this week's community canvas, all set up and ready to go with 20 slots!! This will be posted to Mistocord at the same time as this tumblr post is going up. These slots are first-come-first-serve this week, so make your pick and send it in the replies to this post, or on #cc-claims on Discord.

We are cross referencing with Discord in order to ensure both platforms have a fair shot - as such, please do not attempt to claim slots on both Mistocord and Tumblr at the same time.

Remember, if you aren't able to claim a slot this week, there'll be more chances in the following weeks to take part!!

Once a moderator confirms your slot, please download both the empty environment as well as the populated environment. You are advised to use these as references in separate layers on your art program in order to make the characters fit into the environment as well as possible!!

Rules for Participants: - Choose an OC (or consult moderators to see the availability of canon characters if you do not have an OC) - Try your best to match the general posing shown, but feel free to go wild with your own style, expression, gestures, etc. as long as it fits the template - Complete your artwork before Sunday 9th (preferably by Saturday) so each piece can be compiled together and send it in a .PNG format to @0zzysaurus if you are primarily a Tumblr user, or alternatively in the #cc-submissions channel in Mistocord if you are a Mistocord member

Mistocord Summer Event Announcement

Howdy fellas!! Just quickly putting up the Tumblr-side announcement for our Summer Event!!

The theme is 'Summer Camp at Lake Jellicle'

The event is going to start on Sunday 3rd of July, and will end on Sunday 24th of July for a three week long array of activities - including:

Community Canvas - a collaborative activity where an environment/background will be provided, and the community can submit illustrations of characters to be composited in.

Quick Fics - a short, weekly prompt related to our event theme will be supplied and fanfiction writers can create their own short story around it.

Art Challenges - artists will also receive a separate weekly prompt that they can then create artwork for, also revolving around the event theme.

Bootleg/Film Nights - A Mistocord exclusive activity where a pre-determined film (or potentially Cats bootlegs) will be shown in the streaming channels each week. Showing times are to be announced.

The first week's content announcement will be on Saturday 2nd of July, but this initial post is to get people prepared!!

On the same day, the event's server category will be opened for public use in the Discord, and you'll be able to post event specific content and submissions there!

You don't have to be a member of Mistocord to participate, but if you'd like to join and keep track of our event channels when they open, you can do so here!!
