#Okay well that's not entirely true. As a CHILD he definitely had a personality but after the brainwashing there was nothing there

What is the masked man (from your villain list) from?
He's from Mother 3!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
BIG SPOILERS but it's revealed at the end of the game that he's the main protagonist's twin brother. As a villain he doesn't really have any personality (bc of brainwashing plot reasons) but in fanon he has a lot more depth lol. He's been one of my main comfort characters and favorite characters of all time for years now

He is my poor little meow meow, my beloved, my original blorbo, if you will

genre. fluff. cheol as a dad. warnings. toddler/parent stuff. cheol gets jelly. pairing. husband!scoups x wife!reader. wc. 1k. request. request by @blue-jisungs: you asked for soft hours n i shall give!! it’s been in my mind for a hot while actually but i’m too busy rn to do it myself… and you’re the perfect person bc U MADE ME THINK IF TJAT 🫵🫵 jealous dad seungcheol :( ofc he loves u n ur kid but give him some attention too smh >:T and requested by anon: i love your svt as dads!! they’re all so cute and i’d like to request one for cheol! a/n. i love love love dad cheol omg :( my second dad fic for him hehe <3 hes so girl dad coded and SOOOOO ADORABLE SKDJKS I LOVE HIM!!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“You ate without me…?” Cheol’s sleepy mumble was the first thing you heard from him. He had tiredly trudged downstairs when he had woken up and you weren’t next to him in the bed. It was already a bad start to the day when that happened, and he was frowning and pouting and generally sulking about it by the time he found you.
He wrapped his arms around you from the back, trapping you in the middle of the living room so you couldn’t continue without giving him the attention he needed. You smiled at his clinginess and deep raspy morning voice, but scoffed at how baby-like he was in the morning. Sometimes he acted even more like a child than your actual child.
Eunha was your now 2 year old daughter. She was adored by everyone and constantly doted on. She could be a handful at times, but only because she had started to take after your bossiness and knew exactly how to appeal to Seungcheol. If she ever wanted something, all she had to do was look at them with those big boba eyes that she got from him, and he’d be folding.
He loved her more than anything. Probably even more than you, but you were okay with it. It warmed your heart how much he cared for his daughter. He’d die for her in a heartbeat without a second of hesitation. You were learning more and more every day the love a father could hold for his children. You had expected this attitude when you married him, of course. Because you knew him and you knew how caring he was. He was so filled with love for people and the world, and you were so lucky to have him.
Starting a family had always been a dream for both of you, and Eunha’s birth had been your biggest blessing. It was challenging to take care of a toddler, but you and Cheol always did your best.
Eunha was happily playing with her toy dolls after eating breakfast— the entire living room spread with her mess. It was always a constant of cleaning her toys in the evening just for her to make a new mess the next day, but you didn’t mind. It was worth it to see her so happy, and though it could be stressful to have a messy space sometimes, her happy giggles made up for it.
“Were you playing dolls with her without me as well?” Cheol asked, the pout he was wearing somehow finding its way into his tone. You giggled and he squeezed you tighter out of jealousy. He didn’t want to admit that he missed your attention being only on him, but it was true.
You were getting up earlier to feed Eunha and play with her in the morning. The sleepy morning cuddles that Cheol looked forward to every time he fell asleep next to you were becoming rarer and rarer and he felt bitter about the change. It just wasn’t the same with Eunha. It wasn’t worse, it was definitely better in most aspects, but the free time that he had enjoyed before was being sucked away by the little child.
“She wanted me to be the doctor.” You told him, explaining the dynamics of Eunha’s favourite game. She would be the mother to her little baby doll, and either Cheol or you would usually be the doctor.
“The bed was so cold without you…” He murmured, pushing his cheek against your neck. His skin was warm against yours and you leaned into him more, savouring the feeling.
“I’m sorry. You know that Eunha likes to get up early…” You whispered.
“She should’ve woken me up instead of you. Aren’t you tired?”
“A bit. Eating breakfast with her was nice, though. She insisted on having strawberries with her yogurt since she had seen me eat it like that once.” You smiled. Seungcheol pouted.
“I thought I was her favourite…” He was mostly joking, of course, but slightly hurt. He had always been susceptible to jealousy. Maybe he was a little too greedy— he loved watching you and Eunha spend time together, but he also hated being left out.
Your little moment of warm embrace was interrupted after 2 minutes, a giggly Eunha running up and clinging to her father’s leg. She babbled something about her doll and wanting to get ice cream later today, which you were sure Seungcheol would indulge her in. He spoiled her too much.
You were happy to see your husband’s pout lift up into the sweetest of grins. He picked up Eunha, holding her so that she was resting on his hip. He kept one arm around you; almost if you would run away and leave him if he didn’t. Which was probably partially true since you hadn’t cleaned up from breakfast yet.
“Give daddy a kiss?” Cheol asked Eunha, giggles ensuing amongst both of them. She leaned forward and kissed his cheek cutely and you smiled. Now that Seungcheol was awake as well, the two would be inseparable for the rest of the day— especially since Cheol didn’t have any work to get to.
The morning happily proceeded with a small second breakfast and playtime. Now that your husband was being included in every activity, he was all smiles and giggles. He liked being the centre of attention; you had discovered that fact throughout the years. He was the happiest man in the world when he knew he was making his daughter happy.
Her happiness always came first, even when it relied on Seungcheol’s hair being tied up in pigtails with little cherry-coloured bows because Eunha wanted to play hairdresser. You were almost envious of how cute he looked in them. It was impossible not to love everything that Cheol did.
Along with the bows came matching sweaters with a cherry pattern for father and daughter. One look at the two and you could easily declare them the two cutest human beings in the entire world.

the way bronlies are so obsessed that they’ve just become sam in the way they don’t like/won’t allow dean to have other friends 😭
it’s crazy to me, especially for a question whose different answers are both true to an extent bc your definition of “knowing somebody” is totally subjective!
lol that said, i am curious, soo… who do you think knows dean best, sam or cas? somebody else? do you think it changes over the seasons?
One of my friends was just saying that about bronlies and Sam sjhbfhsdhjf. Truly tho they're more insufferable than Sam's ever been. Bronlies are every spoiled child antagonist in every children's book. The Veruca Salt's of fandom. Miserable little cry baby brats screaming throwing tantrums trying to hit everyone with their baby rattlers... over Supernatural (2005) POLLS.
Their indignantion at that poll is pretty hilarious, because Sam doesn't start out the series actually knowing who Dean is at all. He thinks he knows who Dean is, but he doesn't, and this is illustrated to us over a dozen times in season 1. I do think Sam grows to understand who Dean is better over time, but he still sucks at understanding Dean for the vast majority of the series, because in many ways, he doesn't actually care to stop and think and study who Dean is and ask himself whether he actually knows him. He prefers an image he's made up in his head of who Dean is instead—an image that comforts him or bolsters his own self-image in some way. Dean is smart when Sam wants him to be smart and stupid when Sam needs to feel smarter (1.10, 1.16, 4.12, 8.14). Dean is strong when Sam wants him to be strong and weak when Sam needs to feel like the strongest person around (4.10, 4.11, 4.14, 4.16, 4.20, 4.21). Dean isn't opening up enough (2.02, 2.03, 2.04), then Dean is too emotional and soft and needs to get over it (2.10, 2.11, 2.14, 4.14, 4.16). Dean is a protector and nurturer who is failing to nurture and/or protect Sam adequately (3.09, 4.04, 8.23), then Dean is smothering (5.07, 8.20).
Basically, because Sam spends so much time trying to force Dean to fit into the shape he wants Dean to fit into, instead of actually trying to understand who Dean is, he often (unknowingly in some cases) completely lacks insight into who Dean actually is, and I'd say while he gets better at recognizing this, and better at understanding who Dean really is over time, surrounding certain subjects (especially things like grief), this refusal to see the actual real Dean continues through the entire run of the show (ex: 13.04).
I guess the question is then... is Cas actually better at understanding Dean than Sam is? And for me? Honestly I think it's a wash. I don't actually think either of them is Mr Amazing Perfect Dean Understander to be quite honest with you. I mean—practically Dean and Cas's entire schtick is perpetual misunderstandings bolstered by their own insecurities? They understand the important parts like that they each have good intentions and are good hearted, but I don't think Cas ever really understood how their repeated cycle of conflict made Dean feel. I don't think he ever understood how deeply entwined Dean's well-being became with his own, to the point that Dean was Not Fucking Okay when Cas was dead. I think Cas had a leg up in getting genuine insights into Dean's feelings straight from Dean for a long time because of the childhood dynamics and previous events that have made using Sam as a confidant uncomfortable and/or unsafe for Dean (2.03, 2.11, 4.14, 4.21, 5.01, 5.02, 5.03). I think Cas also understands Dean’s feelings more than he lets on and often acts on his perceptions of Dean's feelings without communicating those perecptions to anyone (and sometimes he's right... but sometimes he's also very VERY wrong).
We get a sort of back and forth with Sam and Cas understanding or not understanding different aspects of Dean's feelings or behavior. Think about "Nihilism" for example, when Sam and Cas walk through the darkness of Dean's mind, and Cas is shocked by the amount of trauma in Dean's mind and Sam just says, "Well. Yeah." But then compare that with 10.03 "Soul Survivor" where Cas was able to explain to Sam why demon Dean didn't want to be cured no matter how much blood they gave him. Sam didn't understand, but Cas understood Dean's perspective immediately (and that entire episode was a scathing commentary on Sam's lack of insight into Dean tbqh).
All of that said, I think I did vote in that poll and I picked Cas, and I would do it again. :) In fact, I will vote against Sam in any moment of uncertainty in any poll I see going forward, because bronlies are pathetic cry baby brats victimizing themselves 24/7 over Tumblr polls and can get fucked.

Hey not the same anon but I saw the Cliff HCS and was curious if you had any more thoughts on the possible little sibling for cove you mentioned in the first ones. I’d imagine it would definitely be an unplanned ordeal with how I see Cliff at least(obviously okay if you see differently! But the guy just had his own little guy grow up and leave the nest so I can’t see baby 2: electric bungaloo being planned) but I just have this image in my head of both Cliff and (his ofc)MC freaking out because they think MC is dying, rushing to the hospital and getting back a “not dying, just pregnant” and both of them going “oh. OH!” (1/2)
This was a two-parter! Here's the rest:
But yeah! Plus only-child-turned-big-brother Cove is such a fun concept to because while there’s probably a lot of emotions™️ there, I just know he cries the first time he holds the nugget. (Also Canon!MC whether dating Cove or not is honorary big sibling as well). But to wrap it up whether you have any ideas or hcs for this idea yourself(absolutely okay if you don’t ofc!) I love the whole dynamic of Cliff’s MC and I hope you have super fun with writing whatever it is you do next!
-- Thank you friend, I will have so much fun! And I have so many thoughts about Cliff doing all the things!
-- So honestly I could see it going either way. By the time Cove turns 18 and moves out, Cliff isn't even 40 yet, he's active and healthy and being a dad is his favorite thing ever, so I could see him planning a second child with you, after he's sure Cove wouldn't be upset by the idea.
-- Some parents would be like "My child is grown now, I am living my own life and if they don't like it then that is sad but I have to live for myself, even if it upsets them." And that is just not Cliff.
-- But Cove wouldn't mind either, it wouldn't have to be some big ordeal. He loves his dad and wants him to be happy, and he knows you make him happy, and it might be fun to have a little sibling, even if they're going to be a very very little to him.
-- Cliff is going to really like the process of trying for a baby. Sorry but it's true, do whatever you want with that.
-- He'd be really active in tracking your ovulation, mapping out the best times to try, all that. And boy does he have a can-do attitude!
-- When you do get pregnant, what a gift you have given him. He is going to be over the moon. He already takes care you you like nobody's business, but you haven't seen anything yet.
-- But a surprise pregnancy is always fun (in fiction lol, be safe out there)! Once he figured out where you were with it, he would also be on cloud nine, pleased as punch, so on and so forth. Because sure, it is a little wild to raise a whole entire person from the time they are born until the time they are an adult then turn around and repeat the process entirely like that, but he's more than up for it.
-- He knows the baby is going to be their own person, and he'd never try to use them as some sort of redemption for himself. But he is still determined to not repeat his old mistakes. He will communicate with you about everything, you will make every important decision together, a team 100%.
-- Cliff is an absolute dreamboat and it's a shame that we don't talk about it more. We're a small enough fandom that we could be having regular meetings to address issues like this.
-- He goes with you to an ultrasound and you're told that the baby is measuring weeks ahead and is going to be a big baby! Cliff is smug. Also hopeful that this one won't outgrow him like Cove did. He likes being a big boy.
-- And then what if the baby comes out tan with blonde hair looking just like him, what about that.
-- Cliff with a newborn is crazy. He is running on fumes but you'd never know it because he's just so damn happy. You know those dads who never change a diaper or insist on not waking up in the night because they need their rest for work. Could NEVER be Cliff.
-- Cove comes to visit at the hospital after the baby is born, he's not really sure how it will feel and he's been a little detached during the pregnancy, not out of any kind of meanness, just because he can't really grasp at that point what this means for his life, you know? But when he meets the baby for the first time, maybe they have a feature or two of his, some kind of familial resemblance, and THAT'S HIS LITTLE BROTHER/SISTER. He's a big brother. Thoughts racing, tears flowing, utter joy unlocked.
-- He is going to be the best big brother the world has ever seen, he is determined. He asks Derek for advice. He researches how to take care of babies. He wants to babysit! So many presents for the baby. So many plans made for every stage of baby's life. Cove is talking to his MC about them renewing their wedding vows one day and if he should ask Cliff to be his best man again or ask the new baby, and MC is like "........"
-- Kyra is involved, that's her baby's baby sibling and she is so happy for Cliff she can't stand it. You have to be cool with Kyra to be with Cliff too, that's a rule, but it's not like it'll be hard.
-- I said this in another one, but it's going to be really important for Cliff to keep the house in Sunset Bird if at all possible. That's where Cove did most of his growing up, and he knows it would be hard on him to lose it. Cove would be totally fine with giving up his old room that he's not ever going to use again for his new baby sibling.
-- Living by the beach, his best friends across the street, his oldest child living nearby and his baby safe in his arms, and you, the love of his life, by his side through all of it. What a life Cliff has.

hii i was wondering if you could make a leo valdez x child of apollo!reader
just like where the other apollo kids are overprotective and leo trying to convince them to let them date reader
i can definitely do this
-------------------------------
you weren't the youngest of your siblings by a long shot
not anymore
but the older ones still felt a duty to you from when you were only seven and came to camp
sometimes it was sweet
when they let you take point in capture the flag so they could focus on protecting you rather than getting the flag themselves
you have a vivid memory of being hoisted on the oldest brother's shoulders when you were ten and being paraded around camp when the apollo cabin won for the first time in months
sometimes though
their protectiveness was a pain in your ass
leo was unbelievably cute
so cute
so funny and smart and he honestly seemed to adore you
but every time you tried to go talk to him just the two of you
a darling sibling of yours would swoop in and take you by the arm
saying something about strategy or target practice
eventually you called a cabin meeting
'i think you all know why you're here'
they protested, saying they had no idea! what do you mean! they're innocent!
'uh huh, so you don't remember killing any attempt i make at spending time with my boyfriend?'
the oldest brother, jordan, sighed, resting his hands on your shoulders
'look, you're our baby! even if you're one of the oldest, we worry!'
even you had to admit, through your irritation, it was sweet
'alright, look, how about you meet leo?'
every face lit up
'no no no, not all of you'
sad faces
'just some of you, i promise you he's super sweet and you'll like him!'
which is how you ended up with leo sitting in the apollo cabin on a chair
they may as well have put a spotlight on the poor boy
you were sitting next to him, hand in his
jordan stepped up
'so, what makes you think you can date our sibling, huh?'
leo visibly swallowed
'uh, i-i care about them, a lot, and isn't it their decision anyway?'
jordan scoffed
'that's not what we're talking about, answer the question better'
leo was flushed a dark red
you squeezed his hand reassuringly
leo shot you a small smile and stood up
'okay, first of all this is insane, you realise this?'
every single sibling nodded their head
'okay good, just checkin'. okay, the fact that this is their decision is core to my argument, so just let me make it. if they decide to date me, doesn't that speak to my character? they are intelligent, wise, careful, they know that if i fuck up they have an entire cabin that will absolutely kick my ass in every concievable way- would they want to date me if they didn't think i was worth it?'
you were grinning madly, even some siblings were considering
leo continued
'sure, i may be a moron sometimes but i'm smart enough to realise what an amazing person they are, don't you trust their judgement? i trust that if they're unhappy or uncomfortable or anything, they will tell me'
he looked over to you
'and i am very aware that they can kick my ass themselves if it comes to it'
you nodded, smiling
'it's true, we've proved it'
jordan, as the leader of this interrogation, stepped forward, arms crossed
there was a tense silence for a moment before he relaxed, putting his hands in his pockets
'yeah, okay. you're right, i do trust them'
he winked at you
'don't know if i can attest to their smarts but-'
he turned back to leo
'-you seem prepared to accept the consequences if you should cause them any kind of pain'
leo held his hand out to shake
'yes sir'
jordan shook his hand
'now get out of my cabin'
leo saluted, pressed a quick kiss to your cheek and darted out the cabin
'so? we good?' you asked
you were swarmed by your siblings, practically gushing over leo
jordan ruffled your hair
'all good, kid'
-------------------------------------
i hope you enjoyed, thank you for requesting!

Okay so, we all are aware of the little scene where Ken goes “I’m borrowing your clothes” and Aizou goes “you’re already wearing them...”, yeah? From Samishigariya.
And we know that this is what he wears on the date with Arisa.
Tumblr media
In the LOVE&KISS novel epilogue, we see this exact scene with the lines being expanded on.
Tumblr media
And Ken says that he and Arisa were going to see Aizou and Yujiro’s play (as it’s the final day of the play and Aizou gave his brother two tickets) because Arisa wants to see it.
Well, the whole novel is about the bond between Aizou and Yujiro (in and out of universe). The two work through their trauma- with Aizou finally remembering his passion for singing that he lost after his mother screamed at him as a child, and Yujiro was able to finally perform on stage and even did a kabuki dance just for Aizou.
Tumblr media
And in the MV for Samishigariya, we got Aizou singing about how Yujiro is the only person who truly understands him.
Tumblr media
Assuming that Ken and Aizou speak after the play (not necessarily right away, but rather when they’re both at home) that could mean that Ken’s final “Congratulations!” of the song is actually aimed at Aizou finding someone important to him, like Ken did with Arisa. No more theories, but actually and genuinely Ken seeing the bond that the two have on stage.
Tumblr media
And yes, one can point out that you can’t really see the bond someone has when they’re on stage, but that’s not true.
The entire point of the novel, in chapter 5, is that Yujiro (who in chapter 3 couldn’t do this one scene and worked on it for over 2 hours with no break) was only able to do a certain scene because he had Aizou by his side.
Even Aizou noted that he did better than the previous day.
So no, you can definitely tell that you and someone else have a strong bond on stage.

(Sorry, if if there are any mistakes, English isn't my first language.) I really want to talk about lesson 38. Personally, I'm more worried about forgiving the "Father" than anything else. When I read all that I had the impression of seeing a toxic parent/ex who comes back to his victims in the mode "I'm sorry I hurt you... but it's a bit your fault too... well, that's in the past now I forgive you, I love you enormously you know" And just, no. Firstly, it raises all my red flags and 1/2
Tumblr media
Hello there, anon! I hope you don't mind I put your other ask here so I can answer them together. (Yes I use the goth rave theme lol)
Yes, this definitely seems to be the general sentiment about Lesson 38!
Just in case, I'm putting a SPOILERS disclaimer here.
It is exactly like a toxic ex or parent coming back around and offering forgiveness when there's nothing to forgive. When they are the ones to blame, but they make their victims feel like it's their fault.
I agree with that entirely. I was having a very similar reaction of WHAT? Because that felt so weird and so random. Like who are you coming around here and being like ah yes, here is Lucifer in all his angelic glory! Remember for this brief second what it felt like to be in my favor!
Like excuse you.
All of that was bad enough, but then Lucifer was just like yes, okay. I accept my Father's love... like NO. WHAT ARE YOU DOING.
That to me feels very much like an unloved child who forgives their toxic parent in the hope that the parent has seen the error of their ways and will somehow figure out how to love them.
They very much imply that Father sees the brothers as traitors, that they're the ones who betrayed him rather than the other way around. And so Father believes he can still bestow forgiveness. But even if that was true, it's far too late now. He can't just allow a war to happen among his kids, banish a bunch of them from their home, and then expect everything to be okay with a cute little display of magic.
My main hope is that we're still missing some context. Which is why I talk about the possibility that Father is trapped somehow and that all of the bad things weren't actually his doing to begin with. It's the only way this whole scenario doesn't come off as toxic. But until they reveal some twist like that, I can't help but think that Father is pretty awful. And remain confused about why Lucifer would go along with his love and all that nonsense.
I'm also hoping for the next lesson to reveal some more information! I'm pretty sure my MC would straight up tell Lucifer he's being an idiot lol.
But anyway, I guess we'll see what comes next!

Jiang Cheng & Jiang Yanli (Mo Dao Zu Shi/The Untamed) Propaganda
Jiang Cheng (his sister was submitted without propaganda)
“Okay, so, this is a matter of perception and what actually happens. Daddy issues: this one's slightly more controversial, but he PERCIEVES that he gets less love from his father than his adoptive brother (he counts the times he's been held as a child [not many] and is very upset when his father makes him send his dogs away to make emotional space for said adoptive brother) and that his father is very harsh with him because he doesn't love him. Why does Jiang Cheng thing his father doesn't like or love him? Introduce the MOMMY ISSUES!!! His mother accuses his father of liking the adopted son more all the time and forgetting who his true flesh and blood is, causing a huge rift in the entire family. (She's jealous of a dead woman that, honestly, I don't think Jiang Cheng's dad ever had a shot with.) She constantly pits the boys against each other, sowing discord in the family and leaving her son Traumatized~! He IS loved by both his parents, but their toxicity towards each other definitely left him, the adopted son, and their poor daughter with different flavors of mommy and daddy issues. (Except the adopted son always knows in his heart who is actual parents are and says at one point that he does get tired of people forgetting that they, yk, existed and were in love with each other.)”
"Convinced that his dad loved their families ward more than him and said ward has to repeatedly comfort him about it. Mother is a huge bitch that propagates this idea. She only shows affection to him on screen before dying. Most of her time onscreen is her yelling at her husband about how she believes he hates Jiang Cheng because she birthed him. Child of parents that should've divorced."
“The Jiang family is a MESS and Jiang Cheng is very much a product of that. His father prefers his adopted son over him while his mother is abusive, controlling and blames Jiang Cheng for not being talented enough. As you can imagine, this man does not grow up well-adjusted at all.”
“his father AND his mother are critical of him so only SOME of his issues are getting their approval”
“Mommy is mad at Daddy for not loving her. Daddy hates conflict and ignores Mommy as much as possible. And ignores his son as much as possible, because he's so much like Mommy--high-strung, irritable, cautious, pragmatic. Daddy prefers the sunny, brilliant, careless, adventurous foster-brother instead. (Everyone loves/overlooks the needs of Nice Peace-making Older Sister. The three kids manage to grow up loving each other despite all this.) Mommy hates the foster-brother (who is (falsely) rumored to actually be Daddy's son) and needs Jiang Cheng to be better than him in every way. She needs Jiang Cheng to be the BEST. But he's not. He's pretty damned impressive in his own right, but he doesn't have Protagonist Energy. He has Secondary Character Energy. The parenting ranges from Tough Love to just your basic abuse. Anyway, Mommy and Daddy and nearly everyone else at home are brutally murdered. Jiang Cheng inherits his father's position and his mom's sexy magic purple lightning whip and rebuilds the family home and raises his orphaned nephew with a whole lot more love and a whole lot less abuse than he got himself. He cries a lot."
“man is the poster child for parent issues. he's the heir to a powerful sect, but his parents had an unhappy marriage and he had a wretched relationship with them before their violent deaths. his father jfm dislikes jc as a person because he thinks jc doesn't embody the clan motto and is too similar to his mother, a woman he resents having to marry. jfm favors jc's adopted brother because that boy's mom is the one he actually wanted to marry, and jc's mother knows it and takes it out on all of them. jc knows he is considered inferior by both of his parents and that he could never do enough to 'earn' their affection or approval, despite family love being his single most deeply desired wish. during a grug-induced hallucination, he just sees them all getting along and loving each other. but the murder of his parents cuts off any hope for reconciliation or healing between them, and he grows into a bitter, insecure, aggressive, violent, and jealous individual as a result. he ends the story utterly alone besides his young nephew, blacklisted by matchmakers and having pushed away his brother in misguided blame for the death of their sister”
“Insane Mommy AND Daddy issues (ignored and neglected by Dad in favour of his bestie's son, frequently berated by his extremely fierce and sharp-tongued Mom, perpetually in the centre of CONFLICT between parents, who then die traumatically).”
“Jiang Cheng’s parents need a divorce SO bad, but they can’t get one, and they both take it out on him. JC takes after his mother in a lot of ways, which makes his relationship with his father deeply strained. His dad loves him, but he doesn’t seem like him much sometimes. He’s very frequently disappointed in him, and he’s physically unaffectionate and distant, showing clear favoritism toward Jiang Cheng’s adopted brother. Meanwhile, his mother projects her own resentment toward her husband and the adopted-ish brother onto JC. She belittles him, constantly comparing him to the brother and saying he’s a failure of an heir for not being able to match someone who should be his subordinate/inferior.”
“tbf I think daddy/mommy issues run in the family considering who his nephew is, but Jiang Cheng is a big mess of daddy/mommy-related trauma shambling around and masquerading as a man”
“This guy's parents (father Jiang Fengmian & mother Yu Ziyuan) really gave him the worst inferiority complex. His father always dismissed him & heavily favors Jiang Cheng 's brother and his mother, jealous bc the brother is adopted and not her kid, is suoer hard on him and constantly telling him how much he sucks. Really fucks up his relationship with said brother in later parts of the show.”
“His dad has never hugged him and likes his adopted brother better than him to the point where people think the adopted brother is his dad's secret bastard child. His mom always compares him negatively to the adopted brother and says he'll never be good enough and that his dad hates him because he reminds his dad of her. His biggest dream is for his family to be happy and his parents to love him.”
“My man’s dad literally picked up another kid and made him get rid of his puppies. His mom was constantly complaining he wasn’t as good as the other kid and saying this is why his dad didn’t love him. And then they died horribly leaving him in charge of his clan.”
"Listen, this man's mother grabbed his arm (therefore making sure he stays within earshot) shows him to his father and says ""I know you don't love him and that he's a major disappointment, but he's still your son!"" to which I thought 'was it really necessary to say that in front of him????' But his father didn't even argue! He just said ""Wife, not now"" and walks off 'cause he's got better things to do than be in the same room with his family."
“so one jc's dad likes jc's childhood friend better than jc (jc has only been held by his dad less than five times). this is because jc is too much like his mother, who jc's dad was kind of forced to marry. jc's mom is constantly screaming at everybody and whipping people with her tazer whip. jc later inherits that same tazer whip. the nicest thing his parents do for him is die so that he can escape a total genocide of his martial arts sect.”
"- his dad and his mom do not get along well; they have a very chilly relationship
- his dad was rumored to have been in love with another woman, but she eloped with his dad’s best friend/servant instead, so his dad was left to marry his mom
- when he’s a kid, that other woman and her husband die, leaving behind an orphaned kid
- his dad basically ‘adopts’ that kid into their family. Jiang Cheng, who at this point can count the number of times he’s been held by his dad on one hand, immediately sees his dad walk in carrying this random other kid, with no hesitation.
- the kid (Wei Wuxian) is scared of dogs so Jiang Cheng’s dad forces Jiang Cheng to give his three dogs away
- Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng grow up, and Wei Wuxian ends up being better in almost everything. Jiang Cheng’s mom harshly scolds and criticizes Jiang Cheng for not measuring up and being as good
- Jiang Cheng’s dad behaves more affectionately and permissibly toward Wei Wuxian, doting on him to the extent that Jiang Cheng’s mom criticizes him for favoring him over his own son
- she tells Jiang Cheng that he will never be good enough for his dad because he reminds him of her; meanwhile, Wei Wuxian, the son of the woman he used to love, will always be above Jiang Cheng
- Wei Wuxian gets injured and trapped in a cave while Jiang Cheng runs home for a week straight, never stopping to rest while he tries to bring help. When Wei Wuxian is rescued, Jiang Cheng’s father praises Wei Wuxian for best exemplifying their clan’s motto. Jiang Cheng watches while receiving no praise for his own actions
- also Jiang Cheng watches his parents get murdered in front of him, which is also very traumatizing "

Okay, so, in a franchise with multiple continuities, change is inevitable.
I've been thinking about this in regards to Transformers. I definitely have favorite versions of certain characters and, well, I admit I can be resistant to adaptations that go too off-base from what I originally liked about the character. After all, personalities are the selling point for me. If the character is entirely different, *why* should I like them?
Some people may say to not compare, however, those are the consequences of using a pre-existing character's name and likeness. If writers don't want the comparisons, they should use characters that fit what they're looking for (there are hundreds of characters in this franchise to choose from and many have never been used).
When I'm sitting down with a new continuity/adaptation and a new version of a character I liked isn't gelling with me, I try to ask myself if it's just because they're different from what I used to enjoy or if I believe it's genuinely a shallower version, less interesting, or does not serve the narrative as well as actually keeping true to the original character would have.
Beast Wars is a great example for this.
The original Beast Wars legitimately has some of the best character writing, not only in excellent character arcs such as Dinobot's wonderfully handled arc, but rounded, strong characters. It's really difficult to live up to the writing of the original show.
For example, Optimus Primal in the recent IDW adaptation. Originally, Primal is the leader of what was supposed to be a scientific expedition, forced into becoming a military leader and Tired Dad. IDW Primal is a younger, more gungho, former security officer who is, perhaps, too excited that the science mission he got reassigned to is now a combat mission. Now, I don't think this new one is strictly a more shallow character than the original (though I do feel they were pulling too much inspiration from TFA), but I do find him less interesting and find that the new personality negatively affects this retelling of the story. Original Primal had plans that the others would contest and he became a better leader for it. IDW Primal has plans that align with the more aggressive Dinobot, Rhinox doesn't oppose him, and Cheetor is too young to know better. A Maximal as a result dies and, for some reason, this doesn't affect Primal even though it was his poor planning that led to this death. His dynamic with the other Maximals was also less interesting as either most of the characters now are totally on board with his choices or choose not to disagree with him. It just ultimately doesn't serve well enough as a retelling of the story.
Also, TFA's Rattletrap is supposedly an homage to BW's Rattrap, but it's like they smashed him flat with a hammer and then slapped some extra trash on there.
I know that there folks who are enamored with Earthspark's Tarantulas and his relationship with a new green child, but the reinterpretation doesn't gel with me. Not strictly because I think the character is shallower or that this version doesn't serve its narrative well, but strikes me as less interesting and leans on what I feel is a less nuanced interpretation of IDW Tarantulas where it's ultimately his selfishness and utter lack of morals that keeps him from having the kinds of relationships he wants--with Prowl or Springer. Also, for a character who lives in a cemetery, he's... Boringly well-adjusted.
I'm sure that there are folks who will disagree with me, either because they personally like the new interpretations or because they think I'm being too much of a "geewunner" type. There's a difference between throwing a tantrum because things are not a 1:1 direct reiteration of something you have an attachment to and knowing a new version of a character doesn't gel with you, examining why that is, and verbalizing it.

Working in tech usually meant Eren didn't even have to leave the house. In fact, that was true enough that he had gotten used to rarely doing so. That wasn't to say he never saw people, because certainly, people visited him all the time. He wasn't exactly a shut-in, either. He did go out, just... for necessities. Groceries, visiting people, and... well okay, maybe that was about it.
Not that it was entirely intentional. A part of him was uncertain in how to interact with some of his old friends lately. Not just his childhood friends or anything, but his old old friends. The people who could say they knew him before they were even born here. It was becoming instinct to wonder if those people recalled the things he recalled, or if those things would put a strain in their relationship.
Didn't matter today though! Floch had dragged him out after finding out from Jean that Eren hadn't left his house closing in on a week. They were probably getting worried, actually, but Floch had resolved to yank him along to a tea shop so he could at least leave the house. It wasn't like he couldn't work wherever he was, so it technically didn't matter.
At least with Floch he was comfortable enough knowing not all of the man's memories were back. They were scattered, and he'd been lucky enough to not get most of the grisly ones yet.
It sucked that memories of a past life were hindering Eren now. He could remember being mostly similar to who he was as a child last time, and that continued through his teenage years. Unfortunately they seemed to be catching up with him as he got older, reflecting similar years of that life. Also unfortunately, his personality kept shifting in response, and his friends - aware of similar memories or not - kept noticing.
He was expecting to just get a corner table and keep working - flexible hours on his own schedule? Perfect for working whenever, wherever, and however long he wanted... hence why he was pulled out here to begin with... but he was stuck between yes, definitely get that table right now, and wondering how much he should stand out.
There weren't many people left that he remembered as though they were just in his dreams alone, albeit many times over, but there were some; people he hadn't seen again since the times of titans. He hadn't exactly given up the idea that he'd eventually see them, but the world was, well, gigantic. What were the chances he'd see all of them again? That they were all living in close proximity?
Perhaps that was why seeing Levi behind that corner felt like a shock. Having these memories never made him a guarantee he would come across these people again. In some way it was like seeing someone that only existed in the dreams his mind made up actually becoming real.
Despite that he recognized Levi, Floch hadn't flinched, stopped dead or anything. He didn't react at all. He must not have remembered Levi at all at this point, because he walked right up to that counter and spoke with no hitch whatsoever in his voice. "Do you have coffee here? My friend prefers coffee. I'll take a lemon tea though. And... two lemon and two chocolate scones."
Okay, so he recognized someone. He could still be normal, right? Totally. Yeah. "Are you sure you don't want an actual lemon with that?"
"With enough sugar to cancel out the sour I might consider it. You're trying first though."
"By the time you're done testing flavors on me I'm going to have a whole zero taste buds surviving."

book club with gav! book 1: a wrinkle in time.
a wrinkle in time by madeleine l'engel
okay so i read this for the first time a long time ago, when i was a kid. and when i say 'read' i mean 'listened to as a book on tape' because that's how i read a lot of books for a while, and i do mean Book On Tape, as in cassette tape, in my little walkman. i remembered liking it but wasn't sure how it was gonna hold up reading it as an adult. i started reading it again recently because i found it on my shelf, having got it for a college class in undergrad and then..... not read it at the time when i should've, lmao, as one does sometimes. and also because they quoted a really impactful scene in it in ted lasso in a way that ended up reverberating out through the character who quoted it's entire arc in both seasons. with that in mind i was like huh, let's re-experience this.
OVERALL IMPRESSION: it did hold up. it was simply written, obviously, but smartly written, in a way that didn't talk down to its audience. the protagonist, meg murry, was a delight in all that she was a mess, and i found her deeply relatable. the other characters were fun and memorable, and i appreciated how truly otherworldly the... otherworldly places and characters really did feel. there were some things i didn't totally love but for the most part they were like. personal preference type things, and i can definitely step back and acknowledge those. there were a couple of other minor things that felt weird from a more general level - the design of one minor character had a Weird Vibe for example - but those were small and i don't think i can remove them from the context of it being written in like. the 60s. i don't do well with number out of number ratings, but overall i was incredibly intellectually invested in and emotionally moved by this book. i enjoyed it quite a lot, and would love to read it to my kids when they're old enough to enjoy it.
gonna go into some specifics now, which include major spoilers, and goes on for a while, so under a cut it goes.
characters - i fucking loved the three mrs. they ruled. they were so completely not human in a way that can be VERY hard to nail, especially with a children's book. the beasts were the same. i loved the whole thing about how they could NOT comprehend sight and seeing and descriptions of things that way because their species don't have eyes - their whole planet is grey and nondescript. meg herself was a delight of a protagonist and i can understand why i was so taken by her when i was a kid. she's... not really very pleasant a lot of the time. she gets in fights at school, and she doesn't try in classes she feels are stupid so why bother. she feels out of place in her family. she's not as smart as her parents or her littlest brother, and she's not normal like the twin middle brothers. charles wallace was INTERESTING. i'm not sure how well he came across as a small child, but i also don't know how true to his age he was SUPPOSED to come across, either. so that's fine. calvin got me good this time. i really did forget how direct and clear it is that he's being abused at home, and that got me a LOT this time around. the bit at the end where they came back and the family pulled him into their hug, and the mom gave him 'an extra hug, just for him' was gutting in a good way. maaaan. and the dad...... oof. that's what i'll talk about next i think.
i think one of the major themes of this book, maybe THE most impactful thing in it to me, was like. the theme of meg wanting so badly for the adults to fix things, for her dad to make everything better. the entire time we're searching for him, going through the other worlds, meg is thinking okay we'll find dad and everything will be fine. he'll fix it. he'll make it better. charles wallace gets overtaken by IT and she still just keeps telling herself as long as they can find mr murry, things will be okay. and then it just... isn't. he can't fix it. he can't make it better. he can't snap his fingers and make it all go away, he can't do anything about it, in fact. her father, this titan in her mind, is just as helpless as the rest of them, and learning this is like..... it's devastating and enraging to meg. she lashes out at him for it, she hates him for a bit because of how completely helpless he is. and oh my gd that felt real. that whole process of realizing that the adults can't save you, they can't snap their fingers and make everything okay. which brings us to the like, the best moment in the book, the whole... fulcrum of it, where charles wallace has been taken over by IT, the malicious hive mind type monster that's in charge of the darkness that's spreading, and their dad isn't strong enough to go back for him. the mrs can't. calvin can't. meg realizes this all at once and has a FIT about it, saying that she can't go, she knows they want her to, but she can't. and she has to be the one to decide to go, because they won't ask her to.
and it's like..... meg isn't okay with going. she isn't happy about it. she doesn't feel brave or strong - one of the mrs asks her directly, do you feel brave enough to go alone? and she says no. she doesn't. but she has to do it anyway. hough. HOUGH. and when she does get to him, and IT tells her that the conformity of camazots, the sameness of camazots, is what keeps it safe and happy, and she tells him that no, it doesn't, it doesn't keep ANYONE safe OR happy if they aren't really people, man. that scene is a lot. what finally does it, the way she finally gets her brother away from IT, isn't by outsmarting IT or fighting IT. it's by telling charles wallace that she loves him. which is predictable, but that's fine. it's a children's story. and it's a good one. predictable isn't bad.
the....... AMOUNT AND EXTENT OF JESUS. IN THIS BOOK. is something i did NOT see coming, and i didn't really love half the time, but it was honestly fine. personal preference. authors are allowed to write stories where there's some jesus in there, it legitimately doesn't bother me on any kind of inherent or fundamental level. and i actually liked it about half the time. i like a story with some jesus in there, when it's executed well! i like stories that talk about faith, that talk about religion and what it means to people and why. and how. the points where the christology gets elevated and it goes from a personal/individual faith based perspective to otherworldy beings knowing about His Love, that gets to be a bit much for me, but again that's a personal preference. people are allowed to write that sort of story, and it wasn't at all overwhelming or frequent. that came up like. once. twice maybe. it was fine, and i'm still fine with the idea of reading it to my jewish children.

reply to this post under the cut, talking in relatively broad vague terms about topics such as child abuse, abusive parents getting full or partial custody, and a brief reference to an attempted suicide
dragonkingz159
Unfortunately true. I had a friend a long time ago whose parents got divorced and they and their two older siblings stated that they didn’t want to live with their father since he was abusive. But he was the money maker and had a job and a house while their mother didn’t so the courts gave him primary custody. Fast forward two years and one of their older siblings attempts suicide and that kinda drags the courts attention back and reevaluates everything. It was a mess. Thankfully they got out.
i’m really glad they got out! but yeah like that kind of thing is not uncommon. i have another friend whose mother and stepfather - both Pretty Fucking Abusive - were granted custody in spite of her stating she wanted to go with her dad, i have multiple people i know personally whose houses were visited by CPS with absolutely no follow-up despite either their claims of or extremely obvious evidence of ongoing abuse and neglect
and i mean quite frankly there are a lot of people who don’t even like, realize there are other options? kids often don’t realize they’re being abused, especially when it’s the extremely subtle and insidious kind of emotional abuse Odalia specializes in. they know it makes them feel shitty, but they just assume that’s How It Is, because it’s all they’ve known for literally their entire lives.
just personally i was abused in Significantly More Obvious And Extreme Ways than the Blight siblings have been, and it took me a very long time to understand that it was abuse - i’m thirty years old and only just now beginning to unpack the actual extent of the damage here or the effects it had on me.
when i was a kid, there’s so much stuff that happened that i just... never told anyone about. it never occurred to me that i could. when my parents got divorced, my mom got custody without as far as i’m aware any arguing about it (probably because she had a job and money and my dad afaik didn’t really work again after that, he was also terminally ill), and she certainly never would have FORCED me to go to my dad’s for visitation - in fact there’s a years-long stretch of time where i mostly went over by myself because my brother wanted nothing to do with him - but it just did not occur to me for a very, very long time that i could stop spending time with him.
and there are things he did that neither i nor my brother ever told our mom about, that she only found out about after he died, because even when we both knew it wasn’t okay, and we both knew she wouldn’t force us to interact with him, it just never occurred to us to say anything to her. that happens a lot!
and this is true of other people who i personally know as well - it’s very common for it to take a really long time to realize that you’re being abused and that you have other options, even when your abusive parent isn’t the one with the money and resources and also spiteful enough to take your other parent for everything they possibly can
so, yeah, like, i definitely don’t begrudge anyone wanting to think about a more light-hearted or optimistic outcome, and i don’t want to act like it’s ALWAYS awful, but it’s also extremely common and realistic for kids to end up stuck with their abusive parents in situations like this, and just personally, that’s the kind of thing i like to consider and explore, because it’s what feels cathartic to me

i know u asked for sherlock and iris for the character relationshjips ask game SO if someone else hasnt sent them yet do them but i want to hear you ramble abotu homumiko also. [holding you at gunpoint]
as you know i got a homumiko ask already but everyone look at it again “basil its long and incomprehensible and most of your followers dont even really know who these guys are” LOOK AT THEM. THEYRE KINDA WEIRD
ANYWAY !!!!!!! YAYYAYAYAYA IRIS AND SHERLOCK YAAAAAAAY. this post is probably gonna get long too so heres my eyecatch so people who dont wanna read all that are still forced to see them
Tumblr media Tumblr media
describe their canon relationship/dynamic
describe their canon relationship/dynamic
tumblr is being buggy with this post.
God…. how do i…. they have so much going on …. lets start with the basics hes her dad. Obviously. thats her dad. he was handed a baby and just went Ok!!!!!!!! and took care of her forever. thats her dad. Iris’ main, initial frame of reference for The World and Being A Person is This Fucking Guy.
There is also the fact that thru most of the games she is not Calling Him her dad </3 consequences of. him telling her hes not her dad ansbJSHJSNSJSNSJSNWJS. even still as ryuu & susato say they have a parent child relationship … for the jokes abt iris being more lkke the parent of course which Is True and a Straightforward Joke But Still Really Funny. but he still is. like. The Dad Equivalent. Her Guardian. even when not actually Her Dad. they have a mutual duty of care. Sherlock makes sure they have money to buy food & Iris actually Makes Edible Food and thats about it you know.
they have the funniest fucking dynamic. Ever,. they treat each other like Equals. they talk to each other like Colleagues. They literally try to steal money from each other. iris bullies him all of the time and he also sort of bullies her back. Iris walks around loudly announcing embarrassing facts about him in public and Sherlock yells at her about it and no one feels bad and they love each other. and she kicks him. theyre so funny
Basically just. thats her dad. they are also best friends being each others constant companions for ten years (Because he raised her from birth). they steadfastly look out and care for each other. and every morning they wake up and try to invent new ways to be mean to each other
your ideal/headcanon version of it? how does it differ from how it is in canon & why is this your favorite version? any other alternate versions of it you enjoy?
in terms of Their Relationship Dynamic there is no way to improve upon it. there is nothing to change. theyre perfect. this is the best relationship ever. but i still of course have lots of headcanons about them. where do i even begin
for one thing as is probably already clear i thimk every day abt what capcom refuses to give us answers on: Iris’ Early Childhood and The Process Of Sherlock Raising Her. please i wanna know what that was like. And continues to be like tbh its just not something we see much bc its not relevant to ryuus side of things…… First of all: he has undeniably tried his best to take care of her and done an overall good job. look at her. Mikotoba would not have trusted sherlock with an entire fucking baby if he was not confident the man could like. Handle It. Successfully keep another human alive and make sure she comes out overall well adjusted and all that. But hes still. Sherlock Holmes (Ace Attorney Character). He. again. does not seem to have any perspective on what to prioritize. I just think he went “okay time to teach iris The Basics” and then jumped straight from “heres how to write your name” to giving her lectures on something he learned the other day about aerodynamics and skipped over a bunch of stuff in between and didn’t really realize until she, like, saw an owl and went UNAUTHORIZED FUCKING BEAST? because she was like 5 and had still never heard of an owl.
Also im glad everyone in the world independently got up and thought “he definitely took that baby to crime scenes” because he definitely took that baby to crime scenes. Like. As everyone has said 200 times. What the hell else is he gonna do? He has to take cases or he DIES. There is no one he is close enough to for him to go Hey take my baby for a while. He’s broke as fuck permanently he cant PAY someone to watch her. Come on 8 month old child who’s still figuring out how to, like, Exist, let’s go Solve A Mystery. I don’t think she’s ever, like, seen a dead body, though. It’s all in my head, you understand, I have the whole escalation of it in my mind - when shes a Really Tiny Baby he has to just focus on Watching Her and can only take the kind of cases that can be solved sitting in the living room (he is going insane), then when he gets past the “what if i stop paying attention to her for ONE SECOND and she EXPLODES” phase he can do stuff that actually requires Investigation, then the second she’s able to Talk he goes Yeah that probably means she can Help with investigations now. and shes iris so hes right. I think 1-5 is prrrrrrobably her first Murder Investigation though. shes a little girl! you don’t take a little girl to a murder scene! Except under special circumstances!
This veered in … some slightly different direction than just Their Relationship i guess but fuck dude it was fun. Like. I like them. I think about them. i think sherlock went oh god oh fuck i dont know what children are like whats good for children *thinks about him as a child* I WAS WEIRD WASNT I THAT WONT WORK *iris turns out to be Just Like Him* Oh thank god here 4 year old child take this chemistry set and scrap metal. Go wild.
what do you like about their relationship, why is it interesting or enjoyable to you?
I swear to god ive probably said this on 80% of these ask game responses: I like family. They family. all ace attorney games kind of have a Found Family cast in the end, but they dont generally refer to characters who dont have clear cut straightforward straight up family relationships As Family, except DGS, which has ryuu explicitly call them His Family, and, and, I don’t know that the themes of The Importance Of Family & Family Being Something You Can Choose play a huge role in the story of dgs itself in most places, esp the Chosen Family bit, but its THERE, in ryuu calling the gang his wonderful family & iris adopting him and susato as her siblings & mikotoba caring for asougi like his son and Most Prominently, Iris Calling Sherlock Her Dad. which i will elaborate on the importance of in a minute but anyway i just think theyre really cute and really funny
what about the individual characters involved? what does this relationship mean to them, what makes it unique among their relationships?
YOU REMEMBER THAT THING I SAID BRIEFLY IN THE HOMUMIKO ASK ABT MEETING SOMEONE RIGHT WHEN U REALLY NEED IT. *pulls out yet another pepe silvia style conspiracy board* Here i actually made a chart.
Tumblr media
I don’t remember almost anything abt the mainline AA series, only remember this bc I’ve seen it mentioned so much, and don’t even remember it clearly enough to know for sure if it’s Dialogue From The Game or just Conclusions People Reached but you know that shit about, Phoenix gets disbarred and its A Bad Time For Him but its Less Bad Than It Could Have Been because at the same time he gets Trucy and now he has Trucy. Like. Same concept. “Accidental Child Acquisition leading to Better Ability To Cope With The Shit That Just Happened In Your Life” is more common than you might think apparently. Inspiring! Every Day This Man Holds Off Emotional Breakdown Until AFTER His Baby Is Fed
If i was ever going to say more about his side of things thanjudt. All That. i forgor. shes dotter. incontext the “i raised you well!!” line is just , a joke abt him being proud of her for something He Very Much Does Not Ever Do Himself but still like WAH . proud of dotter.
Anyway originally i was like, what the hell can I say about iris? That’s her dad and that’s about it. And then I went Simon are you fucking STUPID? THATS HER DAD. THATS THE POINT. God… oh my god …….
Basically!! Returning to the point about Choosing Who Your Family Is and how Sherlock & Iris and specifically Iris calling him her dad for the first time (since we met her) is the most prominent example in the game!!!
Iris’s Whole Deal™️ is she got her World Changed by finding out sherlock wasn’t her “real” dad and her dad was Some Guy She’s Never Met and now she goes then who the fuck IS my dad? Where do I come from? Who Am I? and her Search For Her Dad, Desire To Meet Him, & Attempt To Feel Closer To Him By Reading His Notes And Putting Herself In His Shoes is like. a big part of her identity. For like maybe almost half her life up to this point too!! And …… then she gets closer & farther away & closer & farther away and she decides Susie & Ryuu r her Siblings and somewhere in all of this. decides it doesnt matter quite That much who her “Real” Dad is because shes not defined by her biological father and she already. Has a dad. cries. And. And. And because of the time she spent Not Thinking Of Sherlock As Her Dad it means hes her dad ultimately because She Decided It . not bc he or anyone else said it should be like that but bc she decided he is her dad.
So like . you know. starts sobbing in the streets. anyway they r just both very very important to each other
favorite interaction they have in canon
First prize goes to the off-screen interaction Iris mentions in the credits where she gave him a note that just said like “thank you for everything daddy!” and he read it and started crying. Its like. The ONE thing about dgs2 i remembered with Clarity. in the years between my first & second times watching dgs i thought about it often and i still do.
Second prize goes to her going “oh its just a wax figure see *KICKS HIM AS HARD AS SHE CAN*” itsso fucking funny. that was not necessary. at all. she just wanted to kick him huh
favorite interaction they have in your head/a situation you want to put them in
FUCK UMMM. UHHHHH. i already kind of talked about it but even though i dont think its really even IMPLIED? that sherlock has ever taken her to Investigate A Case? she just stays at home generally? In my heart she goes with him and helps out somet8mes. i want to see it.
what else. obvious and not really the kind of thing id put in this category generally but like Iris finds out her dad was klimt when. hey fuckos!! When r u going to tell her !!!
alsgo i have a weakness for Older Iris content like ough my god 🥺🥺 ou my goed 🥺🥺😭 She growed. one day she will not be the most powerful 10 year old in the world she will be the most powerful 20 year old in the world. show me !! show me !! I want to see!! she is going to do so fuckinf much its unreal!!
Finally, i thought of this ages ago for reasons now forgotten to me and just remembered it today. sherlock & iris & date & mizuki hangout. tehyre *checks notes* girls who do violence on their dads sometimes and that’s about it but its funny right
In conclusion: kiss on top of iris little baby head. appreciate her

11, 15, and 19 for the ask game! :) <3
thank you for the ask!! // from these asks
11. Three tropes that are fine but overrated.
oh-ho . . . . okay, okay, so
1) childhood friends to lovers, because while it's theoretically cute, idk . . . i might just be a hyper cynic, but i find it a little freaky to be in love with one person for your entire life. like, good for them! but also, damn, really?
2) enemies to lovers, bc while i'm finally seeing the appeal due to beyond evil, i still feel like the gross majority of enemies to lovers dynamics just tend to be . . . meh. (joo won and dong sik really breaking all of my rules, so true of them)
3) body swap, because yeah, i can see for a lot of hilarious twists and turns with that trope, but i think once you've seen one, you've seen them all, so that's why i feel sorta lukewarm towards that trope.
15. What's your favourite plotless fic you have written?
oh, definitely bet on losing dogs, just because i had been meaning to write something anakin-centric for a while. i didn't even realize that i don't typically write anakin-centric fics ever, and by anakin-centric, i mean purely just anakin's character, and it was . . . . well! it was a neat exercise, and i really liked doing it.
19. Share a snippet from a wip without giving any context for it.
“But I think he deserves to be at least a little angry,” Ahsoka says. She says this part very matter-of-factly, in the same way that she’s done ever since she was a child. The youngest of the family, and therefore perhaps the most confident. The one who’s seen how her siblings handle the obstacles, the one who’s quietly absorbed the social and intellectual capabilities of the adults around her before stepping out into the brave new world. “And I think you are too, deep down.”

Nana Episode 47 - Fireworks Display, Hachi and NANA
So... this is it... the end of Nana... let’s see what awaits us... in our final chapter...
We start with the Pooch Nanarrator stealing her job back from the Pinkish Nanarrator. That’s pretty finale-ish, I suppose.
A baby looks at a butterfly. Is this a baby Pinkish Nana? Or is the mysterious adult in this scene actually one of the Nanas, which would disprove that?
The baby is Satsuki, and the adult is... hmm... both Pooch Nana, but also Satsuki’s mother? So it seems this is a flash-forward... but... that can’t be it. Pooch Nana’s child very explicitly wasn’t going to be named Satsuki if it was a girl, so this must be a parallel universe.
Tumblr media
Get out of my sight, foolish cup! I care naught for the symbolism you’re desperately attempting to invoke! Wretched cup! Leave!
Tumblr media
Oh, I like this cup though. This cup can stay. If Pinkish Nana had broken THIS cup maybe I would have felt emotions about that.
TALL Shin... incredible! Oh and Yasu was already here, in this room, already.
Pooch Nanarrates that every year when there’s fireworks, everyone shows up to the old Nana Apartment and feels pain. Well that’s bleak
Nobu shows up too. He brought a doll for Satsuki. That’s probably a better gift than a cup. It seems Satsuki already has the world’s best cup.
Hmm... is Pinkish Nana actually dead after all? I remember when I had that theory. But then I forgot to keep having it, because I got distracted by something else.
Meanwhile, in the past, everyone including Pinkish Nana is watching the fireworks from a secluded location. They comment that their disguises are kind of stupid with no one looking at them. Pooch Nana isn’t here because she’s been sitting on a bench and crying this entire time. You know, ever since right after last episode where she told Shoji women shouldn’t have jobs.
Pooch Nana doesn’t want to meet up with Blast because she’s developed a phobia of ex-boyfriends, so Pinkish Nana lies on her telephone and says there aren’t any ex-boyfriends nearby. Yasu and Shin think that’s true.
Nobu doesn’t want to ruin Pooch Nana’s day, so he wants to leave. Pinkish Nana doesn’t like that, so she says some biting words to him:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
shin would know what it’s like to get provoked by pinkish nana haha (remember when that happened?)
Tumblr media
OMG Undertale reference!!!! Or, rather, timeline-wise, I guess Undertale was making a Nana reference. ...Hm, Undertale should have referenced something better. Like uh. Well, not Homestuck
Wait, how did we get into a situation where Nobu was literally the ONLY person in the apartment when Pooch Nana showed up? Who wanted this???
man pinkish nana is annoying, i can’t believe i used to think she was cool... let shin learn the skills he wants at the pace he wants, geez louise!!!! good thing she’s dead
Pooch Nana falls for everyone’s elaborate ruse where Nobu doesn’t exist within the world of their imagination. Nobu locking her out of the apartment ensured that this ruse would succeed!!! Okay
Tumblr media
Wait yeah why not
Oh it’s because she didn’t think she would come
That’s stupid. That’s why it’s called an invitation and not a demand. Next time Pooch Nana, try not being stupid
After the fireworks, everyone from Blast is sad.
Pooch Nanarrates that she’ll wait for the rest of time to see Pinkish Nana, as we jump back to the flash-forward and the credits roll. Well that’s a bit of an inconclusive ending. We didn’t even see anyone from Trapnest. Not even the blonde Trapnest member! Literally no character arcs got concluded. Just... “and then later Pooch Nana was still alive and had a daughter, Yasu was still alive, Shin was still alive, Nobu was still alive, Ren was implied to be still alive, Pinkish Nana was implied to be ‘gone’ but not necessarily dead but not necessarily alive”. I guess it’s good that Shin’s still alive. If the show killed him on top of all the other garbage, that would definitely suck. And I mean, eh, Yasu and Nobu are nice enough fellows. It’s good that they’re still alive.
This anime feels like it’s screaming out for more content. But then I guess the manga “went on hiatus since 2009″ so...
I wonder what kind of ending the manga author had in mind. This can’t have been it, and whatever state the manga is left in probably isn’t it, so... I guess at this point the series is just sort of a collection of characters whose ultimate fates are largely indeterminate. Neato?
Well, to summarize my feelings on this show, I’ll bring everyone’s attention to a cool thing I said in my very first post about it: What a miserable show so far. 0/10.
As for what series I’m going to go through next... it was going to be Monster, but from what I’ve heard, the legal method of watching Monster is going to change from “nothing” to “Netflix” next month, and taking screenshots of Netflix is something I can indeed do, so maybe I’ll save Monster for later. I don’t want the next series to be Arakawa Under the Bridge or Spice & Wolf as much as I want it to be Higurashi, so I’m doing Higurashi next.
Goodbye fans of “Nana”. Hello fans of “Higurashi”. Although you probably aren’t reading this.

Pinocchio AU
Okay people want the explanation for this comic so here it goes. It’s long and complicated and MESSED UP because of course it is, this is me. I’m going to write in points because my small tired brain can’t handle good english atm but basically to sum up the Adrien was a sentimonster theory or Pinocchio AU as I like to call it:
Young married Emilie and Gabriel can’t have kids. Gabriel reluctantly accepts this fate and even brings up adoption as a possibility once, but Emilie doesn’t want to hear any of that. She’s a bit of a Marinette in the sense that she pictures this romanticized ideal life for herself and a child—her flesh and blood—HAS to be in it.
They keep trying to get a baby while other young families Emilie knows keep growing. She feels left out and hurt and depressed, then her newlywed twin sister announces she’s expecting a baby too and something within Emilie just unhinges.
She eventually lies to some of her friends, who she was out for coffee with, that she’s pregnant too. She mostly does it just to see their reaction and feel what it would be like but it quickly spirals out of control where she just starts pretending she’s pregnant until you can’t even tell if she believes it herself.
Gabriel is confused at first because he hears the news second hand (a friend/family member congratulating him) so he’s apprehensive when he approaches his wife but she convinces him that they really are getting a baby and Gabriel is ecstatic.
It’s only later at a doctor’s check up that Gabriel learns that she indeed is not pregnant. The doctor even speaks to him alone explaining that his wife is in denial and that he should make sure she goes to see a psychiatrist, something she definitely wouldn’t do alone.
Gabriel is unsuccessful with that because he’s not entirely persistent, doesn’t want to be the guy with the crazy wife having to tell everyone she lied about being pregnant, and hopelessly believes she’ll just get over it eventually.
That is until her “pregnancy is near due”—her sister already had Félix in England a few months ago—and he stumbles on her transformed with her peacock miraculous (they already have both of them) creating a sentimonster newborn.
They have a huge fight about it but because Emilie refuses to destroy it, won’t tell Gabriel where the amok is, and Gabriel can’t just hurt the baby with his hands, Emilie just… wins. Fucked up, yeah?
Now she tried creating kids before this one, using her imagination to try and blend her and Gabriel’s looks but it just wasn’t working. So she decided to copy of photos of baby Félix because he already looked almost like a copy of his mother, and Amélie and Emilie already looked alike so it’s not so weird?—is what her mind was telling her.
She didn’t dare alter his looks but she decided to give the baby Gabriel’s eye color to include the “father” in some way. (Yes in that comic I made I gave Adrien a mix of green and gray but that was mainly to get the point across to the perceptive readers)
Now we got Adrien, a normal baby boy to the whole world except for Gabriel who’s forced into his wife’s fantasy through social expectations.
Why are we only at this point and this post is already so long AAAAAAAA!!!
Adrien physically basically grows in a way where Emilie just keeps changing his appearance to match what Félix looked like a few months prior.
Mentally he’s like a robot just taking in information without really needing to learn it. So Emilie decides when he says his first word, she decides when he learns to walk,… He knows how to walk, he just wasn’t given the command to do so yet.
But even so he does develop a personality over time, just slower, because unlike a normal child who’s always testing his boundaries, how far they’re allowed to go until they’re in real trouble, Adrien just can’t misbehave. At all.
But he does have his favorite foods and favorite toys, and jokes that make him laugh the most. The problem is just that Emilie could just decide that his favorite food is strawberries and he’d just start acting accordingly, rewiring his belief.
He also isn’t allowed to argue or be mean to others which is why Félix thinks he’s a goody two-shoes weirdo while Chloé the brat adores him.
This behavior isn’t so hard to hide with a toddler who’s fickle but it’s harder and harder as the kid grows. Which is why the family becomes very secluded over time.
Gabriel always keeps distance with his “son”. He’s not Dad, he’s Father, he doesn’t do hugs and cuddles, he doesn’t say I love you. But Adrien knows he loves him because his mom told him so and he loves him back unconditionally because Mom said that’s what families do.
Now even though Gabriel is traumatized by this whole ordeal and knowing Adrien “isn’t real” freaks him out he does soften a bit over time. I’m going to give an awful example but like someone who hates cats softening for a cat that their partner/roommate decided to get/had from before. Continuing with this example: But still becoming appalled when the cat starts acting odd/unusually.
Okay I think you get the gist. Let’s move on…
Emilie loves her son more and more as he grows and his sentimonster behaviours start bothering her more and more too. She hates being reminded that he’s not a real boy by people mentioning he looks young for his age because Emilie forgot to make him grow for a while. She hates when he does everything like he’s told. She hates that he has no real friends because they’re afraid to expose him to the outside too much and without supervision. She hates to think about his future.
Her desire for him to be real keeps growing and is what drives her to search for a solution in the miraculous spellbook.
She cracks the script after years, when Adrien is nearly a teen, and finds a way to transfer the creators soul into a sentimonster.
It’s a long process that takes time and while she falls ill to everyone around her, Adrien becomes more real.
Gabriel starts realizing what’s happening when he notices Adrien hesitate for a second when he’s playing a video game and Gabriel wants him to do something, groan when he gets bothered watching TV, huff, complain, have slightly opposing opinions to his and Emilie’s, when he argues with his mother when she tells him she’s feeling fine; when he notices his son’s eyes are greener. Or is it all in his head?
He confronts his wife too late, when she’s extremely ill already, her normally vibrant eyes dulled match Adrien’s bluish gray, and he pieces together in his head what she’s doing.
Before Gabriel could properly think what to do to stop the love of his life from turning into a lifeless doll, in a fit of panic he tries to take her wedding band (where he knows Adrien’s amok is) to get rid of Adrien instead, but is unsuccessful in getting it off her so he snatches her peacock brooch instead (which she needs to complete the spell obvs) and breaks it. (Heyoo! broken peacock miraculous. things are coming together)
Because the spell was almost complete anyway it’s Emilie who falls unconscious. But she doesn’t disappear because she’s not a real sentimonster, she just becomes dormant like one.
This is the point in the story where Gabriel makes it seem like Emilie ran away or something like that—basically disappear. Now he’s living knowing he has an almost sentimonster wife in the basement, knowing he almost killed his son (or her), and having to care for a son that suddenly became much more alive, questioning, arguing, angry, screaming, not accepting, crying, grieving, staring at him with Emilie’s eyes.
Instead of becoming a real parent, Gabriel shuts him out.
Soon Adrien evolves desires for socializing, company, getting away from the suffocating home which eventually leads to him going to a public school.
He slowly starts to live life freely without the restrictions that were put around his thoughts.
Gabriel has an even stranger relationship with Adrien now because he still loves him in a way but also holds resentment toward him. But mostly he sees him as something valuable.
The show happens here…  And now finally we get to the comic…
Gabriel gets a hold of the ladybug and black cat miraculouses. (There’s no epic fight in his lair as you see there’s no Ladybug in the comic but that’s not really important)
What’s important is that Gabriel had deciphered the miraculous spellbook with the help of Emilie’s notes and had decided to use the unification’s “wish” power to awaken Emilie.
He’s aware he’ll need to sacrifice something for the wish to come true and he’s certain Adrien should be enough because the soul inside him is literally the one thing Emilie is missing.
✨Adrien (poor boy just lost his miraculous) is taken to Gabriel’s lair, where he finds out his father is Hawk Moth, sees his mother, learns he’s a sentimonster, and that he’s going to become a sacrifice ✨
Of course the last part is not what happens. It’s Gabriel who ends up being sacrificed.
I can’t decide if Gabriel ends up sacrificing himself because he changed his mind in the last moment while Adrien was screaming for him to stop, OR  because he didn’t love Adrien enough for him to be considered an equal exchange for his wife… O.O
But anyhow…
Emilie wakes up with Gabriel’s soul within her (hence the bluish gray eyes in the comic).
Adrien is traumatized for life.
This took me hours to write… I knew there was a reason why I didn’t want to do it. I hope I didn’t forget anything and my brain made sense of it all
Well there you have it, peeps. The Pinocchio AU. It’s as messed up as my sleep schedule. Good night.
