My interpretation of that post is the tendency of fandoms to focus on entertainment and escapism above all else, at the expense of actually looking at the story theyre watching. The obsession with aesthetics and -cores above substance plays a role too imo. It's nothing new tho, it's how you get people saying star wars didnt use to be political etcetc
