Sasuke loves to tease Naruto for ages;

Praising him while gripping and pulling his blonde hair as Naruto frantically grinds against his leg. There was no thought in Naruto’s mind other than the need to get what he saw as his.

Naruto, of course, is being impatient and did not receive permission to touch Sasuke.

Sasuke reaches down and, for a moment, entertains the fantasy of giving him what he wants, slowly circling his thumb around Naruto’s leaking tip.

Sasuke tended to stay covered for most of their intimacy, whereas the other was always ready to show off his muscles.

Sasuke’s hand lightly grazed over the rest of Naruto’s exposed underside, causing him to shudder.

Sasuke smirked, “With behavior like that, did you really think I’d give you more than this? Learn your lesson.”

It looked like it was going to be a long night for Naruto, but he was about to be educated in the art of patience.

Deep down, Sasuke didn’t ever really want him to learn. But he was going to go along with his scholarly act.

How could he refuse having Naruto beg him for his forgiveness? There was nothing Sasuke could want more.

My brother also loves watching that filler scene where sai tried to kiss naruto and he got grossed out and said "i'm not into things like that!" and ran away and I think I know why 💀 he's so threatened by narusasu's gayness it's hilarious lmaoooo. He even used it to say naruto's straight once. I had to remind him it's filler, and he said it didn't matter. I said well fine if you wanna count filler I can count when naruto and sasuke kissed the second time, and when naruto told a woman he's not interested in a woman's body. But he forgot that woman moment happened at all lol. Also, he clearly has no knowledge about gay ppl bc even if naruto acted that way, it doesn't mean he's not gay, bc denial is a real thing. Internalized homophobia is a real thing, which naruto clearly shows he has, considering there are other similar moments like that in canon (like when he mistakenly thought kakashi was flirting with him, when he threw up bc of sasuke's kiss after kurama reminded him of it, when he got disgusted at the sasuke x sai jutsu konohamaru was doing) But it seems like a hassle talking to my brother about this so I didn't even bother

Of course it doesn't matter to these people those are fillers, plenty of dudebros love to insist that Shikamaru was Naruto's first friend based on fillers. They also like all those princess saving movies because it makes it easier for them to digest in canon manga Naruto is constantly chasing and thinking about another guy lol.

Internalized homophobia and denial is very obvious in Naruto's character and I have talked about this couple times. Naruto also made reverse harem no jutsu and said he practiced it more than rasengan, something Kishi just had to point out... yeah he ain't straight.

Okay...I know your on break, and you deserve it 100%! You wrote like a million words last year, no exaggeration! but omg, when are you coming back with updates to your fics???

I swear I'm like going through withdrawals! Secrets is my worst addiction!! I never liked Sasuke but you changed my mind on that and i never thought anyone could! I realize now he really was messed up back then, and after everything he went through at that age, and with Orochimaru's curse mark adding to his darkness, of course he went off the deep end!! I'm ashamed I wasn't more compassionate towards him. I LOVE Butterfly like you have no idea 😭I know people are not liking Naruto's actions right now, neither do I, but i like that you've wrote him being able to do something like that to precious Hina, your not going soft route and making him too nice or too accomadating, it really feels like he doesn't know her at all, which he doesnt! it's easy to hurt and use people you don't know and he's a prime example of that. He's not out to be malicious, but he's careless with her feelings because he doesn't KNOW her at all. People seem to shy away from making a character that flawed but you lean into and I love it! Naruto is setting himselg up for a WORLD of hurt, I can see it already! Knowing you dont' do sad endings, I can safely enjoy this angst and heartache!!

Monster is my heart!!!!! The Boruto series should have gone this route because the plot for the Otsutsuki is out of this world!! It adds so much tension and suspense, and the lovey dovey moments with NaruHina are like a drug I can't stop doing! I'm scared now though! Ino got those worm root things poured into her mouth by Shino and things are getting really weird and I know you warned us that angst is coming (again I'm gonna enjoy it since you don't do sad endings) but now I'm petrified because Hinata has been acting weird all the way up to this point, and I think whatever was done to her by Toneri is about to come fruition! I'm scared for her and for Naruto! That book is an amazing balance of horror, smut, love and angst!!

I'm DYING for more Prey 😭 I love me a dark fic and Naruto is stone cold crazy af and I love ittttttt! I want to see the meeting between him and the woman he's been stalking, his future baby mama, Hinata! How will she deal with his brand of crazy??? Who is Danzo and why is Naruto working with him??? How did Naruto become a killer like that????! I mean I know he was crazy as a teen and he's killed before but now its like his job??! How, what happened?? I needs to know!! And poor Sasuke 😭😭😭😭😭Naruto is a HANDFUL for him to have to deal with all the time!!

My break is just about over, sorry about the long wait! My stories have been calling me, especially my throuples thanks to my Sims 4 game 🤭I'm even more convinced now that a NaruHinaSasu dynamic is a special, beautiful dynamic and I cannot wait to finish my other throuple fics as well as add more. I'm very happy you enjoy all my stories to such an extent 😭I work pretty hard on them and am glad that I can create stories that can push a person from their comfort zone and still have them content in a new, unexplored territory! A Cure For Love was my first attempt at M/M action and people seem to enjoy it, shockingly, quite a few people that don't like M/M either but love the story regardless are REALLY into this story😵‍💫 and that still blows my mind! It's nice to see more people coming on board the MMF ship! 🤭It's really diverse in here. There's SasuNaru fans willing to give those two with Hinata a try, there's SasuHina fans willing to make room for Naruto, there's NaruHina fans willing to open their hearts to Sasuke, I love the vibe of that story so much. The community is so nice and amazing!

I'm glad I could change your perspective on Sasuke, he really gets way too much hate and not enough understanding/compassion in my opinion. I've gone through deaths of loved ones before, and that shit eats you up inside, it's like a lifetime disease that chips away at you non-stop, I could not imagine going through it to his extent, I'd lose my damn mind too. Idc what no one says, I love Sasuke and my heart goes out to him 100% and I don't say that lightly. I adore Naruto, and Sasuke shouldn't have put him through what he did, but I also am of the mind of Naruto. Sasuke needed help. He was self destructive and losing himself, and I'm glad Naruto could see that and help him. I wish I had a Naruto, I swear.

I love flawed characters like Naruto in Butterfly. You're right that there's gonna be some heavy angst, but as I said, I don't do sad ends, but I do want to hurt your heart 😇enjoy the pain, you've got three books of it coming up.

Don't even get me started on everything wrong with Boruto 🤦🏾‍♀️such lazy writing imo. It's like they skimmed through Naruto and Shippuden rather than watched it fully. That series is not canon to me, never will be. Monster is my horror baby, and you're right, it's about to get wayyyyy worse. Prepare yourself is all i can say.

I do a general thank you/response every few chapters of the updating story. I overthink a lot and then get very overwhelmed trying to come up with personalized things to say to each person. My social anxiety is that weird, apparently.

5. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?

Hmm, maybe You Can Bite Me or Crossing Over. But even they are technically happy endings anyway.

6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?

All of them? I guess Lost in Translation was light from start to finish, so that might take the title.

I do not. Although I guess You Can Bite Me has Resident Evil mentions. Shout out to Lady Dimitrescu and her excellent blood wines.

I do write smut, though I might be trending downwards a bit. I think TIPDIG was probably my apex in regards to volume. I think my smut tends to be mostly goofy, sometimes a bit kinky.

Just imagine if obito and Rin were gender swapped and female obito later posed as male Tobi and Madara somehow ,so nobody suspected them as obito then mask broke in war and surprise fake madara is a women and kakashi old "dead" friend ,war is same but fem obito somehow survives and later married kakashi and boruto there is a kid of kakashi and obito a hatake with sharingan.🌸If even half of this was canon I think kakaobi would have been more popular what are your thoughts?

Hmmm, KakaObi is already so popular you know. It's like second most popular Kakashi pairing after KakaIru on AO3, and in Chinese fandom, KakaObi is one of the "Holy Trinity" Naruto ship, the other two is NaruSasu and HashiMada. Visit Bilibili or lofter, you can find many top-tier KakaObi contents or DM/Ask me anytime if you want recommendation of good KakaObi AMV on bilibili or fanarts on Lofter. They're mostly ObiKaka though, a.k.a Kakashi is the "bottom" when it comes to sexual stuff.

But, if you mean that KakaObi would have been more popular than KakaIru (since it's the other Kakashi ship that was more popular than KakaObi), then I doubt that a het ship that was fully developed on Part 2 can override the already long established KakaIru ship. Although I admit I don't really understand why KakaIru is so massively popular compared to other Kakashi ships, so I don't know what will make it "less popular" either.

As for your gender-swap scenario, sadly I only can see bad things will happen because of that Anon...

Male Rin will be ridiculed to hell and back. There are already many critics on Rin character who let herself kidnapped twice and every rescue attempts on her brought grievance consequences, and it will be so much worse if Rin is a boy, especially in the eyes of those dudebros on Reddit. "How pathetic is he, a girl sacrificed herself for him but then he let himself be kidnapped again and the said girl destroyed the world for him?" those kind of comments perhaps will appear in the Naruto fandom if Rin is a male.

Female Obito can look like interesting badass female character, but then like a huge bitch for marrying Kakashi in the end. Female Obito can look like brought her pardon with her seduction to Kakashi and it will paint Obito's character in a very bad light.

I doubt Kakashi can and will marry Obito post-war, regardless of gender. Although many fans sympathize with him, including me, in-universe hundreds of shinobis in 4th war hunted for his blood. Tsunade stopped them out of respect for Kakashi and Minato, but she definitely will not let Obito go freely and neither Kakashi nor Minato will want to stop her. If the marriage is an attempt for Obito's surveillance like Oro's constant surveillance, then the pairing will have a huge imbalance of power which is frankly I am not a fan. I ship canon KakaObi, but if KakaObi turned into like that, I'll not ship them anymore.

Personally, I don't think Kakashi loves Obito romantically. Of course I ship them, but honestly I can't see it becomes canon. The interaction between Kakashi and Obito is never painted on romantic light (actually, none of Kakashi's interaction with anyone is painted in a romantic light) and despite Kakashi's adoration to Obito, he's not exactly soft with him too. Kakashi called Obito worse than worse than trash, and tried to kill him twice. Or the lava scene, Kakashi carried Sakura yet only pinned Obito's hand with kunai. If Obito is a female, brrr, I can imagine the nasty discussion that would be created from it.

Again, personally, Kakashi having a kid will not benefited or bring nothing new to Kakashi's character. Kakashi is an already adult character who was tasked to take care of kids, guide him and stuff. The appeal of "having kids" prompt (apart from satisfying shipper) is to see how the characters whom we adored take care of mini size of them. But Kakashi is already having character parallel with Sasuke, and Obito got paralleled with Naruto. So if there's a question "How Kakashi will handle a child of himself and Obito"? Then I'll answer "Well, he'll handle them just like he handled Naruto and Sasuke". Also the Kakashi's sharingan kid will take some of spotlight from Sarada, and I am not looking forward for the chaos that will be created from it.

So yeah, that's my thoughts anon, hope you're not disappointed. My general opinion is that scenario will frankly made KakaObi worse than canon. But that scenario quite intrigued me so if you have interesting idea of a fic with that premise, feel free to discuss it some more with me.

NaruSasu Day Prompts

Prompt from the Where The Sun Meets the Moon SNS server NS day event: Prompt # 3 Lace (yeah, shocker I jumped on this one, right?)

It was a stupid, silly thing--an evening with other of the Rookie 9 and Kiba happened to start waxing his best attempt at being poetic about lace lingerie--how it looked, how it felt under his hands. At least, he had until Neji noticed how bright red Hinata was blushing and smacked him upside the head to shut him up.

But not before he'd asked Naruto's opinion on it, and Naruto had stared at Sasuke intently over the rim of his sake cup and said, "I can only imagine. Maybe red against pale skin... I think I'd love to see that."

Sasuke didn't expect the thrill to run through him at the heat in Naruto's eyes, and he'd ignored it.

But he couldn't forget it.

I think I'd love to see that.

They weren't big on birthdays, but Naruto's came around and Sasuke wanted to do something for him, something... he'd like. And still that stupid memory lingered.  In fact, it wouldn't go away until he'd--very discretely--obtained a set.

Since wearing a bra wasn't something he'd ever done before, he thought it only prudent to try on the set before he decided he was going to go through with this... insanity. First, he put on the underwear, pointedly refusing to look at how it looked on him before he turned his attention to the bra. He'd gotten the smallest cup size he could, so hopefully it wouldn't gape too awkwardly. t took him a surprisingly--and annoyingly--long time to get the back to latch properly, and even when he did, the straps slid off his shoulders.

"Sasuke?" Naruto asked, his voice hushed, almost reverent. Sasuke cursed himself for having grown too accustomed to Naruto's chakra signatures, so much so that he hadn't even noticed him approaching. "Is this... for me?" he asked.

Since pretending he was interested in it for its own sake would have been even more embarrassing than doing it for Naruto, Sasuke said, "Who else, usuratonkachi?" He crossed his arms over his chest, though it was pointless, and refused to turn around.

He didn't actually need to, because he could feel Naruto's heat behind him as he stepped in close. With featherlight touches, Naruto eased the straps up on top of his shoulders, tightening them until they fit better, then placing soft, fluttering kisses  alongside the skin on either side of the strap. A hand  reached around Sasuke's waist, dropping down to cup him through the lace, and the rough, scratchiness of the material felt oddly good against such sensitive skin.

Without meaning to, Sasuke sighed, sinking back into Naruto, and Naruto's kisses moved to the top of his shoulder, then up his neck.

"You're so beautiful," Naruto murmured, low and full of heat into Sasuke's ear.

"Don't be stupi--" Sasuke started to say, pushing his face away, but it was halfhearted at best.

Naruto's other hand came up to tease a nipple through the lace, and Sasuke lost track of what he was going to say as the unexpected pleasure of being touched through the lace coursed through him.

"I'm not stupid," Naruto said, his voice growing deeper. "And I'm going to show you exactly how beautiful you are."

Turning to putty in Naruto's hands, Sasuke wasn't sure if that was a threat or a promise, but he looked forward to it either way.

Just a little something that was inspired by one of my favorite artists, @snow124-art) Sleepless night. NaruSasu CommonWorld!AU Sasuke was not used to sleeping with someone in one room. He usually made himself dinned, changed his clothes and went straight to bed after closing his laptop. Uchiha concentrated on studies, projects, his own future and the state of his apartment. He could not stand any unfolded clothes, dirty shoes or even glasses that were misplaces since he was a child. Naruto knew that all too well, yet he still threw his socks all over the place, forgot to wash his jacket and left his dirty dishes on Sasuke’s working table. Uchiha was ready to kill his blond childhood friend at any time, mainly holding back because of the law and his own patience. Only in high school, when this idiot started to turn into an adult, did Sasuke start to notice changes in Naruto. He smiled a lot more, became a lot more responsible and…a lot less dependent on Sasuke. Of course, Uchiha had some alone time. He gladly exempted the quiet room, clean carpet and calm mornings. But not the void that it left in him. Sasuke switched places, became the one who offered everything, until his time with Naruto was equivalent to drugs in his mind. This sun-kissed face, rare freckles, loud laughs and strong arms almost always crossed his mind. He started to cover his work table in photos, sticker notes with bad handwriting. Just to remember his favorite face.The least he expected — a kiss on a cheek, a hug and a night of movies. He seriously thought about this being creepy. Right until Naruto posted Sasuke’s work table on his Instagram with a caption «My boyfriend’s shrine of me». Uchiha wasn’t jealous. But he was definitely ready to kill all the chicks who said that Sasuke didn’t deserve him. He sure as hell did. He only confirmed this to himself, feeling warm arms around his waist at 3 a.m. — Uchiha, fall the fuck asleep. You disrupt my slumber with your constant need of reassurance in my love. Sasuke kissed him, bit him several times that night. But it’s not like Naruto was, in any way, against this.

I was just thinking (again) about how it’s absolutely funny that everyone that has been a team with sasuke has been in love with them….like okay, so maybe they aren’t, but you can easily interpret it that way, and it would be more funny that way. anyways, as I was saying, I was thinking about that when I stumbled on very funny and very good narusasu fic idea.

(its karin & sakura, who are very into each other now) and thinks it must be some curse and thinks again, of what he had just said, and — that — that must be mean…. naruto…too… is… maybe. perhaps. there’s a possibility, and sasuke finds that he isn’t at all repulsed by the idea. he….he… doesn’t not like it? if he imagines naruto pressing all up against him like karin, or if he had walked around nak— sasuke cuts off that thought abruptly, and doesn’t know how to deal with this sudden epiphany, that naruto might like him romantically and… sasuke isn’t against that idea, at all. likes it even. it’s very weird to deal with. and of course, naruto has no absolutely idea he likes sasuke that way at all, and this makes things very hard. like so much harder, and not even the fun hard. like in where, sasuke goes investigating but in a subtle way, of course, which turns out to be unsubtle and naruto is like, “why….are you acting so weirdly, teme???” and is all concerned and sasuke gets irritated (embarrassed) and then naruto gets irritated by sasuke by not making sense and being a bastard and it ends in a fight and they get nowhere, again.

all of konoha (and by that, I mean, konoha 12 mostly) watch this disaster occur and is like yep, yeah, not getting anywhere near that disaster, so naruto & sasuke are left to themselves, which is very bad all around, and they barely get anywhere. naruto is so convinced that sasuke is his brother, insists and says it very much and very loudly, while also waxing some poetry about his eyes. it’s all very weird, around and sasuke is so confused and upset, and… god… it’s a mess. I don’t even know where I’ll go with it. I do want a scene where sai decides to intervene, but like… in a sai-way where he didn’t mean to intervene for the purposeful act of intervening, he was just curious of what the fuck was going on with them and comes out, being just as confused. sakura shakes her head, and is like, I don’t get them either and don’t want to, honestly. but seriously. things escalate to the point where she’s being affected, and getting irritated, and done by them that she has no choice to intervene. it does nothing but make everything worse. everyone decides to never talk about what happened that week. ever.

Don't be defeated by DNA

Do you see the title above the door on the frame? A nice one, yeah? So motivational, encouraging, etc., etc. However, it is more interesting how this idea is provided in "Naruto" and "Jujutsu Kaisen". Actually, I do think that this motto is pretty typical among shonen genre, but here I'll focus on Naruto and JJK.

First of all, what do we have in “Naruto”? Season 1 screamed at our faces that EVERYBODY could become whoever they wished, they just needed HAAARD work. And we really believed in those tales, because a season-one Naruto looked like an unexperienced, weak, badly educated, undisciplined orphan, who was labelled and ghettoized by the society, BUT he was so stubborn, persistent, ambitious, painstaking, therefore we were certain – that soulja boy would win. It is still a controversial question among naruto fans whether he actually won something… Nevertheless, the reason why he achieved great results based mostly not on his positive traits of character, but because… um, you know… he had absolutely lucky DNA and inheritance. Oops. The truth is that “THROUGHOUT HEAVEN AND EARTH HE ALONE WAS THE HONOURED ONE” speaking JJK’s language. He possessed the demon that later became (of course) his friend, he was a reincarnation of the god, his father was one of the greatest ninja, Naruto took after his mother’s incredibly gigantic amount of chakra, and so on. Of course, it is obvious that potential and talents aren’t everything, only practicing can lead to results. But I concentrate my thoughts on the idea of “fortunate blood”. And this blood evidently helped Naruto. Kishimoto (mangaka) lobbied the idea of HAAARD work, he did his best and then gave up. The story had nice heroes who were also weak and alongside so inspired by the aim to become strong… Unfortunately, these characters were forgotten, they didn’t reach the target, they became the background for NaruSasu, the two who were “the honoured ones”. Hence the idea that at the beginning was truly noble became fragile with time and faded. I’d say that it even seemed quite hypocritical, but I love “Naruto” with all my heart so you didn’t hear these cruel words.

Secondly, what about "JJK"? While watching anime and reading manga, I couldn’t but feel that Gege was mocking at us. We all know that he openly made references to classics of shonen, but it didn’t mean that he couldn't criticize/add his understanding. Specifically, let’s look at these frames:

The protagonist isn’t able to become the strongest just because he wasn’t born a special one (let’s drop Kenjaku and Itadori’s unclear powers with memory). What is more, Itadori hasn’t won any important battle by himself (there're 182 ch. by now). This situation is relevant to all the sorcerers, like Gege tells us that if you were born weak, you would be, because it’s impossible to get in over your head. DNA plays here a vital role. We don’t expect to see deus ex machina, everything was literally negotiated with a doctor cut the cord. Shamans have their limits. Jujutsu world is clearly divided into “the strong” and “the weak”, “the blessed” and “the non-blessed”. It sounds unfair, disheartening, but realistic at the same time.

Do I like this inverted DNA view in JJK? Its definite concept honestly attracts me, it attaches seriousness to the work, helps us to immerse in the story in the best way and realize characters’ loses and victories. As far as I can see it. IMHO. What do you think?

big disclaimer that I read naruto like 7, 8 years ago back when I did not care to critically analyse the manga I read, and I have not reread it since it ended. If I went back and read naruto with a clean slate now, I don't know if I'd have different opinions on the endgame ships. (But having said this... probably not. Let me explain.)

so, I like sasusaku in theory. I like what Kishimoto THOUGHT he was doing with sasusaku; that is, a very soft very tragic very messy love story between an almost impossibly damaged boy and a very determined, very hopeful girl who is the embodiment of springtime, of flowers sprouting from a wasteland. A literal, god-tier HEALER. And described like this, doesn't that sound like an intriguing ship? Doesn't that sound incredibly compelling? Yeah. This is what Kishimoto WANTED for sasusaku, what he probably THOUGHT he was doing.

Unfortunately, by his own admission, kishimoto is abject SHIT at writing romance when he thinks it's romance.

Kishimoto THOUGHT he was writing the star crossed tragic love of the century with sasusaku. The reality is that he was actually writing the big star crossed fated tragic love story between sasuke and naruto, and just slapped a big 'BEST FRIENDS' label on it hoping that'd distract us. I mean, sun/moon symbolism? the suggestion that they've been reincarnating throughout the ages, repeating the animosity and bloodshed of the generations past? the way they're CONSTANTLY yelling NARUTOOOOOHHH and SASUKEEEEEEH to each other dramatically??? IN THE RAIN???? You're gonna show that to an ICHIRUKI shipper and try to tell them it's not romance?

'But wait, if that's the case, why aren't you just a narusasu shipper? You don't give a shit about 'canon' in Bleach, so why not naruto?'

See, this is the Big Difference (that no-one seems to get!!!!) between Bleach and Naruto: authorial intent.

I'm a big believer in authorial intent. I know tumblr and twitter like to say 'the author is dead, carve canon up and roast at 225C for the juicy bits', which is all great and fine! But it's not the way I like to enjoy my media. I'm a canon purist first and foremost, and THAT'S where Bleach and Naruto differ for me.

Kishimoto intended to have his engame be naruhina and sasusaku. Maybe not 'from the start! from the first chapter! from the PILOT chapter!', but he definitely planned this pretty damn close to the start. It's just that he was BAD at the execution of it. Kubo has never, not once throughout the course of 686 chapters, EVER shown me an INKLING of an indication that he intended his endgame to be IHRR. Not once. Not EVER.

For Kishimoto, the intent was there, and the execution was bad. But because I care about authorial intent, that's enough for me; I'll criticize the execution to kingdom come, sure, but I'll try and eke out what the author TRIED to do with their characters and relationships and go from there. For Kubo, the intent was never there to begin with, so OBVIOUSLY the execution is bad. It wasn't accidentally bad like it was for Kishimoto; it was deliberately bad BECAUSE THE INTENTION WASN'T THERE.

'But how can you TELL what was authorial intent and what wasn't? What's so different about narusasu vs sasusaku and ichiruki vs ichihime that made you ship one and NOTP the other?' There are two main differences between naruto ships and bleach ships. 1/ Most Naruto het romances are... bad. Some are better than others but you can tell romance is not kishimoto's strong suit. (And that's fine tbh I'm not trying to rag on the man, esp when he knows and acknowledges it himself.) This is why I think, when he was writing sasusaku and naruhina, the man was playing it straight. He really did think that what he was writing was as good as he could get it in terms of romance. Whereas if you look at bleach het ships (that aren't the endgame couples)... hello? kubo's FORTE is writing romance. The man KNOWS what constitutes a romantic cliche, the man KNOWS what makes an impactful romantic ship moment. He's not like kishimoto who has no clue and is steering blind. the man KNOWS. so when he writes a ship that has NONE of these moments, you know it's not because of some teehee accident, it's because he didn't want them to have these moments.

and 2/kishimoto might have accidentally made narusasu outsell naruhina and sasusaku combined, but he did give them moments. narusasu>>>>>>>sasusaku and naruhina, but at least naruhina and sasusaku Got Things. it's like this: if we start at a baseline of '0' in terms of mutual positive romantic development (authorial intent only; good or bad execution doesn't count), narusasu: 20, naruhina: 7, sasusaku: 5. But for Bleach, it's like this: ichiruki: 1347298357189, ichihime: -23472983720348. Kishimoto, at the very least, didn't intentionally portray sasusaku in a negative light. (He did absolutely cast them in a negative light because of his shitty execution, but again, that was accidental; he didn't MEAN for them to look bad.) But Kubo deliberately and consistently showed us how bad ichihime were for each other, and what was worse, he did it in DIRECT COMPARISON TO ICHIRUKI, IN AN EXPLICITLY ROMANTIC CONTEXT. In naruto, sasunaru absolutely outsold, yes. But the problem in bleach is not SIMPLY that ichiruki outsold, it's that IT KEPT SHITTING ON ICHIHIME.

so yeah, this was very long and you probably didn't want this naruto vs bleach comparison, you probably just wanted an analysis of sasusaku in the manga to see what I saw in them, but unfortunately it has been far too long for me re: naruto to be able to do that off the top of my head. And if you're from the ICHIRUKI discord you're probably interested in my opinion on the bleach side of things anyway. So yes, the tldr summary: I like sasusaku in theory, because I am the kind of reader that likes to extrapolate from canon and the authorial intent. I fully 100% acknowledge that sasunaru absolutely outsold in the manga, and that sasusaku is actually a pretty shit ship if you look at the execution, but the intent was definitely there and I love what it could have been (and even what it is, still, as unbalanced as it may be. You can't ship 100% equal completely healthy ships all the time y'know gotta have some variety in the diet).

Oh, and the main shipping discourse (for me at least) of naruto was always narusasu vs sasusaku to me (narrative coherence-wise, I mean. If we're talking irl, ofc we all knew that narusasu was never ACTUALLY going to be canon bc ... you know... homophobia). narusaku is... was... never a consideration to me at all. Narusakus I'm sorry you got baited for a couple scenes but that was literally... bait.... disjointed and disconnected and Not Relevant Overall to the flow of the story. It's a shit thing for kishi to do but it's also not an uncommon thing for shounen mangakas to do, so. yeah. Sorry if u were a narusaku. Also, people who froth at the mouth over sasusaku but then turn around and ship sasuke with. idk. ino. karin. any other girl...... are Big Mchuge hypocrites. This is very much not an inoue orihime situation where this One Specific Person brings out the worst in them. This is a 'Sasuke is a fundamentally flawed and toxic person and someone like this is Bad in ANY ship with ANY person' situation, so to say shit like 'sasusaku is sooo toxic thats why i ship sasukarin' is just like, congrats, that makes no sense? (no shade if you're shipping sasukarin while acknowledging this, though.)

This has just turned into a 'what's your general opinion of naruto and bleach', so hell, might as well go the full mile. Um, I might really like sasusaku, but I do also just like sasusakunaru all as a trio, whether they're all romantically involved or just doing a very weird 'yes sasuke and sakura are 'together' but somehow naruto always seems to be there in between them' or. what have you. I think these three work best as a trio more than anything else, more than just narusasu and more than just sasusaku. I think I put it best in this thread I did once: '[sasusaku] are fraught and terrible and awful and Naruto is always between them and nobody can quite figure out if it's them the three of them or Naruto-and-sasuke plus sakura or sasuke-and-sakura plus Naruto and a part of sasuke that sakura will never understand will only be Understood by Naruto but that's ok because there's a part of sasuke that NARUTO will never understand that can only be understood by sakura... and sasuke is just a wasteland honestly he's a nuclear fallout zone but if anyone is diligent and good and determined enough to spend the time eking and tilling that soil until it's habitable again it's sakura and naruto'. Canon Divergent AU

Summary: Shifts happen throughout life. Sometimes, they shock you. Sometimes, they just seem right. The first time she had called them friends he had felt as though an anvil hit him full on in the chest.

Pairings: KakaSaku (all character are and have been adults at the start of the fics events). SaiIno. & Hints of YamaIru and NaruSasu if you connect dots well.

Sakura was beautiful, full of life, and so very strong. She had blossomed into an amazing kunoichi. She was a medic on par with Tsunade, and fully expected to surpass even her master before she turned 25. She never ceased to amaze him. 

Her ability to forgive was truly her greatest gift. After the war, after everything, she had forgiven the last Uchiha, had been understanding when he took off again, had helped him adjust to village life once he finally returned. Yet, when Sasuke had tried to control her and the course of their relationship; Sakura surprised everyone by walking away. 

Her inner strength matched her outer super strength.

She had grown up. All of Team 7 had. And, Kakashi couldn't figure out when it had happened.

But, suddenly she was 24. Fiercely independent. Strong arming -literally- all of Team 7 and Team Kakashi into taking better care of themselves and each other. 

Naruto was starting to study the more bureaucratic side of his dream Hokage position, because Sakura had finally gotten him to realize that he couldn’t just go off and chase down every issue, and beat and talk it into submission, like he always had. Sai was dating Ino, and apparently doing it well. Yamato had been seen giving flowers to a certain teacher at the Academy, as well as, pushing for reform in ANBU policies. Kakashi had personally seen Sasuke thank a merchant for helping him to wrap some especially juicy tomatoes at the market the other day, and according to Sakura, was close to working up his nerve to ask out a certain someone he had apparently been repressing feelings for forever. She even kept Kakashi from a death via boredom by bringing him updates and coffees most days of the week, if she could help it, which- he had to admit- had made all the difference in his horribly long days behind the Hokage desk.

They met up for dinners at least once a week. They met up to train at least twice a week, even though they all had long since gone on past their respective teams. So, really- She had somehow wrangled her hodge-podge gaggle of hopelessly damaged orphan teammates into a tight knit family and functioning members of society. And had them all entirely wrapped around her pinky finger. 

She was miraculous, he thought as he watched her.

There she was standing in the middle of training ground 3, wind in her pink hair, directing the movements of her very own Genin team. Now she would be teaching a new generation of hopeless, helpless twerps. 

All grown up. He thought again in amazement.

Yet, really- he knew exactly when it had happened. 

It happened after Sasuke left, and Naruto went traveling, and then Kakashi had disappeared into back-to-back solo S rank missions assigned by Tsunade. They had left her all alone. He had left her all alone to deal with her team breaking apart. And the guilt had never faded for it.

After she left Sasuke, Kakashi was pleasantly surprised that it was him she had reached out to. Why she felt him qualified when he had failed to force the issue to stay in the village when Tsunade assigned all of those solo missions he would never understand, but he took this olive branch for what it was. 

It was his most important mission, and he treated it as such. He would not – could not fail her twice. So, he made certain he was there for her. He brushed away her tears when her veneer cracked as she brought him coffee and he asked how she was doing. He made her laugh when she was bogged down with work by sending her little notes via ninken. He let her land hits during their regular training sessions when she needed to feel her fists connecting with something, so she wouldn't break down. Until she was finally really and truly ok again.

Even still, she sought him out. When she spotted him watching her curiously, she had smiled and said, "Friends are there through the good times and the bad." Her smile had broken through his shell that day.

Friends.

The first time she had called them friends he had felt as though an anvil hit him full on in the chest.

The word felt so foreign to him. And yet, it warmed him in the oddest way. It was then that he felt the change, a subtle shift. 

He stopped feeling as though it was a mission to not fail her. Instead, he found that he wanted to seek her out. He looked forward to their time together. Missed her when they were apart for any length of time. He would shown up at her work with her favorite tempura in time for her lunch. He grabbed her chocolate and handed her tissues as they watched one of their favorite sappy love stories when her monthly hormones made her a mass of emotions; he had refused to shy away from her during that time and assured her that there was no way he would miss one of their rom-com movie nights because of some tears and a bit of snot (she had been convinced he wouldn’t want to be around her like that, which was ridiculous). He had combed through every strand of her hair when she had caught lice from treating the kids at the Academy when Konoha had that bad outbreak.

Their time spent together over the past year had been some of the best days he had had. He had laughed more, smiled more, looked forward to the next day more than he had ever done.

When the next shift happened, he wasn't as surprised. 

One day he simply noticed that he let his hand linger each time he handed her something, held on to her a little longer when they said their goodbyes. But, he didn't question it, because it felt right. Everything felt right. 

When her gaze would catch him watching her, as he often liked to do, his heart would skip as she gave him a secret smile he had only ever seen directed at him. It was his and no one else's. He didn't feel like he deserved it, but he accepted it fully – treasured it even. As he did with all things Sakura lately.

He smiled as he watched her team waving happily as she brought their session to a close, only to smile wider as she flashed him his secret smile. He watched her walking over, skin glistening from a sheen of sweat, hair fluttering about her cheeks with the gentle breeze. She was breathtaking.

As she sat beside him to watch the sunset over the trees, he wasn't even surprised when the next shift happened and she placed her hand over his. He didn't question it. Because as he laced his fingers with hers, it felt right. Everything felt right.

Do you have any thing that you DON'T like about SasuNaru/NaruSasu or,in your opinion,think the ship doesn't have any flaws?

Interesting question. I think this has a lot to do with how the Naruto, Sasuke and their relationship is depicted. You know, different people have slightly different views on the ship. What I'm trying to say is that, we all have our personal biases. For example, the relationship between Sasuke and Naruto in my very popular doujinshi "Behind the Disguise" has many flaws in my opinion. But if you had asked me this question in 2014, I would've thought the relationship was absolutely flawless and perfect, but my views on such things have changed a lot. This doesn’t mean I think the story is bad, but that I understand we all grow and change and so do our perceptions, and that's totally normal. But that's why I find your question rather hard to answer. However, one thing I immediately thought of after reading your message, is how I sometimes (fortunately, not so much anymore) come across sasunaru content, that downplays the female characters of the series, particularly Sakura.

In a way I understand this, for Sakura is a badly written character in my honest opinion, just like most of the female characters in Naruto. I understand this also because I personally used to be very biased in this matter. In the very early days of my sasunaru creation (like, literally the first 1-2 years) I thought of the female characters of Naruto (and any other series really) as something "less than". But I now understand this was because, being a girl myself and being in no way able to relate to these female characters, the only way I knew to deal with it was to downplay them. I had some huuuuge insecurities about my own femininity, that played a big role here, though I was unconscious about it at the time.

Looking at my very early sasunaru comics, I can see my own insecurities playing a role in some scenes where I'm plainly stating that "being feminine is something to be ashamed of". To give you an example to better understand what I'm meaning, there's a scene at the end of "Step by Step" where Naruto calls Sasuke "Sasuko-chan", implying he's girly. There's no doubt in the scene that being called "Sasuko-chan" is not a good thing and Sasuke is offended by it. "Of course, being a girl is something to be ashamed of, something that a man should not have anything to do with". That was the kind of mentality I had back then. Luckily, there are only few subtle scenes where such things clearly pop out, but I know for a fact those had to do with my own issues at the time, and we see them surfacing in these scenes.

Oh dear this ended up being such a ramble! :'D I might've missed the point sliiiightly and I feel like I still have 10 other things I want to say but let me stop here for now hahahaha

Edit: And riiiight after posting this I realized the obvious:  What I do not like at all about this ship is that there are still too many people drawing Naruto as this whiny, skinny, pathetic little boy, blushing, crying and shaking when Sasuke as much as touches a single strand of hair on his head. I mean, for heaven’s sake, have you ever seen Naruto Uzumaki??? He’s the most determined, strong-minded (and bodied oh lalaa), always-surprising-you ninja, I think these people are confusing him with an alien from outer space.

Too bad there’s no qualification certificate required for drawing SasuNaru, like, can you keep the boys in characters even just 50 %??
