I am a camera
When I first visited here, maybe twenty years ago, I fell in love with the place; the eccentricity, the thrown-togetherness and all the strange little details that made the place unique. I had been a shut in for the best part of ten years on a soulless 80’s housing estate in a northern town where I was constantly glared at for being me. Hastings started to feature in my painting back then as…

ROUND 2 MASTERPOST
synopses and propaganda under the cut
Harvest of Time
Synopsis
After billions of years of imprisonment, the vicious Sild have broken out of confinement. From a ruined world at the end of time, they make preparations to conquer the past, with the ultimate goal of rewriting history. But to achieve their aims they will need to enslave an intellect greater than their own...
On Earth, UNIT is called in to investigate a mysterious incident on a North Sea drilling platform. The Doctor believes something is afoot, and no sooner has the investigation begun when something even stranger takes hold: The Brigadier is starting to forget about UNIT's highest-profile prisoner. And he is not alone in his amnesia.
As the Sild invasion begins, the Doctor faces a terrible dilemma. To save the universe, he must save his arch-nemesis... The Master.
Propaganda
An amazing 3rd Doctor story that feels very much like the typical Delgado!Master stories of the time! Featuring: UNIT, Original Characters, a poster with the Master’s face on it stating to remeber him, and more! (anonymous)
Okay admittedly I haven't read this book in years and have a bad memory. However! Such a good book. It is thee Doctor x Master book imo. So if you enjoy them (especially if you enjoy Three/Delgado!Master) you should definitely read it. Quote: ""We are what we are, Doctor. If I did not exist, the universe would soon fill the void left by my absence. You could almost say that the universe requires us. We are order and disorder. We balance each other very effectively."" Also, not sure if links are allowed, but looking through my blog I found this post https://www.tumblr.com/n3cropants/128077448585/harvest-of-time (anonymous)
Interference
Synopsis
Five years ago, Sam Jones was just a schoolgirl from Shoreditch. Of course, that was before she met up with the Doctor and found out that her entire life had been stage-managed by a time-travelling voodoo cult. Funny how things turn out, isn't it?
Now Sam's back in her own time, fighting the good fight in a world of political treachery, international subterfuge, and good old-fashioned depravity. But she's about to learn the first great truth of the universe: that however corrupt and amoral your own race might be, there's always someone in the galaxy who can make you look like a beginner.
Ms Jones has just become a minor player in a million-year-old power struggle... and as it happens, so has the Doctor.
Both of him, actually.
Propaganda
Father Kreiner war crimes because they are so in love with the Doctor and so depressed they want to die Romeo and Juliet style. Oh and it is the superior third Doctor regeneration story. (Anastasia Cousins)

middle of the week wip post
tagged by @sweetpeasandlilies xx here's some of the 'mary recruits remus to steal harry' fic that may yet see the light of day
--
Remus hadn’t been at the funeral. Too pissed and sopping drunk, and Mary had been angry about that earlier on. By the end of the night, she was passed out right alongside him on the floor of his Shoreditch flat, doing her best to ignore the short black dog hairs shed onto the carpet.
Five years and nine months later, Harry walks into her classroom.
She knows to expect him by then. Or to expect a Harry Potter, in any case, along with the rest of her new batch of Year Threes. Mary had stared at the roster for a solid ten minutes when she’d first received it the week before, blood pounding in her ears, Mrs. Marbry from the next classroom over yammering on about school gossip she should know, being new and all, and have you heard the latest rumors about cracks in Charles and Diana’s marriage?
It was a coincidence. It had to be. Harry Potter was a common enough name, and what would he be doing at a muggle primary school in Surrey, anyway?
It’s not a coincidence.
The first day of class, Mary turns from her chalk and crepe paper board to greet the new students, and there he is. A small brown face in a sea of white, bright green eyes peeking out from behind round sellotaped glasses, hands disappearing into the sleeves of a too-large rugby polo. Her breath catches in her chest, and for a moment she’s eleven years old again, meeting James Potter for the very first time.
But she never knew James at age seven, and even for a much younger child, Harry is small. The too-large clothes don’t help with the overall effect, and the other children take notice. A larger boy with blonde hair and a round face nearly bowls him over in his haste to sit next to his friends, elbowing Harry sharply in the ribs as he passes.
Mary reminds the boy—Dudley, the unfortunate child turns out to be called—about using his words instead of his hands, explains that he has an assigned seat, and pukes when she gets home that night.

Not So Secret - Glassy Shores
Sponsored by ionic & KraftWork
After a challenging week, there's nothing I'm craving more than sipping cocktails by the beach. The cool sea breeze across your face, the warmth of the sun enveloping you. Today's inspiration for the breathtaking Ionic Promise Land home. This 51 Li gem offers both low prim count and exceptional quality. With nearly 360-degree views, it welcomes nature and light into your living space effortlessly.
In my landscaping, I've incorporated classic elements such as the pebble shoreline from Studio Skye, creating a natural and picturesque beach setting. Delicate palms from Compulsion, scaled up for added height, and larger palms from Studio Felgo add to the scene's beauty with their thick, detailed trunks. To introduce a touch of greenery, I've scattered Creosote bushes among the beach rocks.
For lounging and unwinding, I've chosen a versatile outdoor (or indoor set) from KraftWork, boasting beautiful neutral tones and a rattan base that complements the beachy atmosphere perfectly. This scene comes together beautifully with around 400 prims, making it an ideal setting for a low prim permanent coastal retreat.

2022 A Year in Emotions
Memories:
Started off the new year with Jon in NYC! Homey takeout dinner with my parents, Moma, climbing with Greg and Dior exhibit.
Uncertainty, Relief.  The moment I met Totoro! I picked her up and heard her meowing in the carrier. I released her in the carrier and she immediately started rubbing herself on me and purring. I was so relieved that she liked me.
Fear, Accomplishment. Trying ice climbing. Woke up at 5am, and when we got there it was negative 13 degrees. I felt the least athletic and didn’t have the right gear but I overcame my fears and had a great first climb.
Newness. First ski trip with Halle, I remember driving her car for the first time and being scared. But I realized from this trip that I really like roadtrips.
Togetherness. Trying molly for the first time and going out to Basement. I felt so loved and protected by my friends. I wanted to party my heart out and the DJ Tool was so good and dropped some sick beats.
In Love. Paris - sitting by the Seine and watching the sunset behind Jon. The last night we were there the Eiffel Tower sparkled in a special way and we kissed.
Proud. Going to Tesla gigafactory and see the graffiti that Jon was working on made me so proud of him. I was glad he was doing so well in a foreign country.
Brave. Going to the fetish wear store and trying something that was completely out of my comfort zone. I struggle with feeling comfortable in my body when I truly felt different when I looked at myself in the mirror- it was like I could turn even myself on.
Seeing Xin in London, going to the art museum but then getting a UTI, but also having really good English breakfast at the 100 Shoreditch hotel
Creative. Spray painting for the first time with Chanel, touching new medium, getting it on my nails.
Accomplished, Amazed. First 4 mile race in Central park and eating a colorful bagel with Rebecca after and my first 10k in Prospect Park
Happy. Dancing at the Elsewhere rooftop with Ami, Keo, Alp, Tim, Corey. The sunset was so beautiful and I felt so at ease and happy with a great group of people who were willing to be vulnerable, let lose and dance without inhibition.
Content, Simple Happiness. Sitting on the balcony at Lake Como, feeling so at peace and content in my relationship with Jon. I remember dunking myself into the cool water right before we had to leave and feeling so happy, simple and refreshed.
Inspired, in Awe. Also seeing the Biennale was truly inspiring. Some of the coolest art pieces, like the falling lava, and taking the water taxi.
Relaxed, at Peace. Sitting on the beach in Rugen with Jon. Just eating a really good hot dog and ice cream (all courtesy of Jon) and reading so much of the Overstory.
Comfort. Eating at Barra in Berlin.. maybe my favorite meal of the whole year. I still remember the sea aster and dessert. Staying with Jon made me realize that home is wherever he is and I still feel nostalgic for his old apartment where we had hot pot and cooked meals together.
Anticipation. Seeing the US Open with Rafa and Tiafoe had me at the edge of my seat!
Nostalgia. Going up to Ithaca for the Rev finale, I stayed at the Dorm Hotel which was so memorable, and got dinner with Eme at the Rook.
Frustrated. My parents putting pressure on me about the house renovation situation, having a mental breakdown in Cindy’s room and then Michelle passing out on me.
Intrigue. Norway- seeing the art pieces at the museum like the twisting benches, or the spinning water, there was something new at every corner. Fresco Hallen had an amazing ambiance for breakfast.
Loved. My friends coming together for my 25th birthday, and even Jon being there! It was honestly the best birthday I could hope for, from multiple cakes to karaoke to EEAAO costumes.
Youthful Joy. Day trip to Fishkill Farm to apple pick with Ami, Maya, Benji, Tim, and Alp - just a wholesome day where the weather was so beautiful and I got to do all the fall activities I wanted! Pumpkin patch, corn maze, cider donuts, riding a truck, it was genuinely so much fun.
Excited, Proud, Touched. PISTE Showcase Benefit, getting a shoutout from Nzingha, seeing her realize this dream and being so proud to see my work, in flesh, everywhere I looked at Samsung 387.
Intimacy, Vulnerability. Xin staying over for 3 nights, made me feel so close to her again. I put on candles and we turned down the lights, and sang together over Tom Misch’s songs.
Sophisticated. I hosted Ami, Kush and Keo and brought out wine, nice wine glasses, and even put together a chacuterie board. I felt like a great host.
Moved. The Moth, with Maya Michelle and Niki, 5 stories about “now you see me” were told in such an impactful way, I could never forget. Daniella Faith singing at SoFar Sounds gave me goosebumps, and I loved that she told us to sing with her.
Creative. Nude sketching at Happy Medium made me realize that I missed art so much. Mugler exhibit also reminded me of this creative world that exists in NYC that I haven’t tapped into
Intimacy, Beauty, Appreciation. Ending the year with horny thoughts and the cozy comfort of 2 duvets, and a scenic 4 mile run around Boston with Jon that made me feel so happy and appreciative of my body, of Jon, and of the beautiful world.

Otto Schade "Say it with flowers" Acrylics, Spray paint on canvas 100x100cm (also available as paper version 60x60cm) Part of STENCILS ONLY show opening this Friday. Send me a pm to receive the catalogue of the show. Otto Schade (also known as “Osch”) is a Chilean artist based in London. He received his higher education at the Bio Bio University where he studied Construction and Design in Chile. Schade’s work includes abstract, surreal and pop art. In 2009 he started painting on the streets mainly in the UK´s urban center of Shoreditch (London) using the pseudonym “Osch”. By using sophisticated stenciling techniques Osch evolved his distinctive ribbon style, which he uses to criticize and ironically depict some of the world’s current social issues. Many of his works hold satirical messages in order to raise social awareness and reach the boundaries of human vision. This political and social commentary is often present in his practice as an urban artist and has been an inherent feature of his works, which increasingly appear as street art around the world. Osch has painted at many art festivals such as the biggest street art festival in Europe, “Upfest” Bristol,[5] “Sand, Sea and Spray” Blackpool,[6] “City of Colors” Birmingham, “Wynwood” Miami US, “Sunscape” Malta, as well as “Stick Together” and “Urban Art Festival”[7] both in Amsterdam. #urbanart #streetart #stencil #vernissage #art #collecting #gallery #artshow #contemporaryart #duesseldorf #weloveart #emotion #girl #figurative #instaart #artoninstagram #instagraff #painting #zeitgenössischekunst #interiordesign #collector #artlover #emergingartist #design #artinfluencer @otto_schade (hier: PrettyPortal) https://www.instagram.com/p/ClqiTSnN0Ia/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Inflatable Art Sculpture for Jack Irving – Mondrian Hotel, London, UK
Tumblr media
To celebrate the first birthday of the Mondrian Hotel in Shoreditch, London, fashion designer and award-winning artist Jack Irving was commissioned to create an abstract, futuristic sculpture for the hotel’s facade. Jack Irving is probably best known for the iconic costume that he designed for Lady Gaga - the inflatable Sea Urchin Showgirl dress. His works draw inspiration from deep sea life and nature to fuse the worlds of fantasy and experimental design. Having previously worked with inflatables, Irving knows how effective the medium is for dramatic art installations. “I wanted to create a sculpture that represents the future of Mondrian, that both draws people in and celebrates the playfulness of the brand,” he explained. Here at Glow, we specialise in creating custom shape sculptures and inflatable art installations all over the world and were therefore the obvious choice for this exciting collaboration. The team at Glow Inflatables worked carefully with the artist to ensure his original vision was replicated as closely as possible. ‘Futura’ is a 12m wide and 8m high abstract inflatable rocket design blasting off in a bronze mirror nylon finish covering the entire façade of the hotel. With the expert installation team from Glow on hand, the rocket was officially installed on 31st August 2022 and will remain throughout London Fashion Week and the London Design Festival. David Lockhart, the General Manager of the hotel explained that the inflatable sculpture demonstrates Mondrian’s positive attitude for the future. He is really pleased that local artist Jack has brought their vision to life so brilliantly. Read the full article

Chapter 5: An Old Friend
Conrad has a scar on his left leg, the only scar that taints his body. It was delivered by a piece of shrapnel belonging to a car. What had caused the car becoming shrapnel was a plastic bomb, hidden in the passenger seat flap. A bomb that planted on behalf of Isaiah Mahoi, an arms dealer. And in the car had been Tessa. Tessa was Conrad’s sister. Used to be Conrad’s sister.
They worked a mercenary team, Conrad, Tessa and her husband, Conrad’s brother-in-law, Mike. After Tessa died, Mike left the team. Conrad went solo for a few years before later going into exile, and the two men had not spoken since.
That was fourteen years ago.
Conrad is walking a country road, two tracks of rock and pressed-in dirt separated by a rugged snake of weak grass. Sally gave Conrad the keys for the van she had used to get to Shoreditch Heath, and told him she would make her own way to London. Conrad drove the van for three hours. He doesn’t want to drive directly to where he is going, so has decided to walk the last half mile instead.
Give him time to think about how to ask Mike to join his team.
Would Mike turn him away? Conrad hasn’t made any effort to keep in touch over the past fourteen years, but then again when Mike left he made it clear that he was out for good. There’s not even a guarantee that Mike is still be living in his hut by the forest. The intel, however personal, is fourteen years out of date.
A thin column of smoke snakes its way towards the clouds ahead, and Conrad quickens his pace. He’s still here.
As he gets close to the house, Conrad slows his pace. There is a repetitive thud every few seconds from somewhere to the side of the house, and Conrad follows it like a beacon.
Mike has his arm stretched upwards in the air, hefting an axe. His bulk carries the axe down, clean through a small log that takes its execution indifferently. Mike pushes the wooden shrapnel away, clearing the space for a new long. He looks up, notices Conrad.
Conrad puts his hands in his pockets. ‘Hey, Mike.’
It suddenly strikes Conrad that he and Mike have both been living as hermits.
Mike straightens.
‘What are you doing here?’ he grunts. His voice is deep, rugged, like a shipwreck, but not as wet.
‘Can we talk?’ Conrad now takes his hands out of his pockets and points towards the wooden home.
Mike moves over to the house, but doesn’t turn away from Conrad.
‘We’re talking now,’ grunts Mike.
Conrad allows the hope that Mike would be engaging fizzle out, and he rethought his next options.
‘How’ve you been, Mike? It’s been fourteen years,’ asks Conrad.
Mike spits on the ground like a gunshot then jerks his head back to Conrad.
‘Save the chit-chat. Why are you here, Conrad?’ grunts Mike.
‘To talk, Mike.’
‘Conrad.’
‘Mike.’
The two men stare at each other, refusing to break each other’s gaze. Each man refusing to back down, to yield, feign weakness. Both men realize that they cannot back down without capitulating to the other, and that neither of them would therefore look away. They would face off like this only until they could claim they had won. There is fourteen years of tension that fizzle between them, that could rage on for years, centuries, millennia unimpeded by none other than sheer male stubbornness. The seas would burn out and the mountains crumble to dust and the sun would swell to a deathly death-globe, but neither man would turn away. Nothing would break them.
But then the door of the hut opens, and both men turn to it at the same time.
‘Dad, what’s going on?’ asks the teenage girl now standing in the threshold.
‘Tess, get back inside,’ Mike commands, not turning his body away from Conrad.
Conrad blinks. He doesn’t know that Mike has a daughter. She looks about fourteen years old.
‘Tessa, get back inside!’ he repeats.
‘Wait, Tessa?’ asks Conrad.
Tessa. The name of Conrad’s sister. Mike’s wife. Conrad looks back to Mike, who at the same time looks back to Conrad. The game is back on.
Mike starts stomping towards Conrad, his fists are clenched and there is a wild look in his eye.
‘You get the fuck off my property, or I’ll rip your fucking lungs out!’ Mike shouts the two men staring still.
‘Mike, I just want to – ‘
Mike shoves Conrad to the ground with both hands but Conrad does not look away.
‘Dad’ shouts the girl called Tess.
‘I’ve got nothing to talk to you about!’ Mike shouts.
Conrad doesn’t take the implication. Tessa was on a mission. The bomb that was planted in the car had got past all of them, even Mike.
Conrad picks himself up off the floor, not breaking eye contact with Mike.
‘I just want to talk. Give me one minute. That’s all I want.’
‘’You’ve had your fucking minute, you slag. Get the fuck away!’
Mike again goes for Conrad who this time is ready to receive him, but the girl called Tessa runs between them before they get to each other, and throws herself at Mike.
‘Dad stop! Please, dad! Listen to me, I’m your primary motivation!’
This stills Mike. He’s heaving heavy breaths like a furnace. And at last, Mike looks away from Conrad to his daughter.
‘Just let him talk. And then he’ll go away.’
Mike thinks about it, and then looks back to Conrad.
‘One minute,’ he finally says.
* * *
Inside the hut, Mike offers Conrad a can of Cream Soda, but Conrad turns it down. Tessa returns to what Conrad assumes is her bedroom.
Mike roughly places a glass of water in front of Conrad at the table he is sitting at, then takes the opposite seat.
‘Okay. Talk,’ grunts Mike.
‘Who’s the girl?’
‘We’re not talking about my daughter.’
His daughter? Mike named her after her mother, Conrad’s sister. Conrad is Tessa’s uncle. But they’re not talking about Tessa.
‘I’m here to bring you back in.’
‘No you’re not. I’m not going.’
‘I’m not asking,’ says Conrad. He takes a sip of water. ‘King George has pulled me back in,’ he continues. ‘You know I’ve been living like you. Away from everyone, everything. All I wanted was a quiet life, a – ‘
‘Good, honest life, yeah yeah, yeah get to it.’
‘I have to do this, and if I’m doing this, I need people around me that I can trust implicitly. But I’ve been out for twelve years. I need someone I know, who’s judgment I can trust.’ He leans back. ‘Which is why I’m pulling you in. To be on my team.’
‘I can’t go back in. I’ve got a daughter.’
‘Called Tessa,’ says Conrad, incredulously. Conrad needed to know. ‘Is she…?’
‘Is she Tessa’s?’ says Mike, honestly. ‘Yeah, she is. She was born before the mission that night back in Makeni fourteen years ago.’
Which explained why Mike was so hostile to Conrad outside.
‘She could come with you, with us.’
‘I’m not doing that. Conrad,’ grunts Mike.
‘Why not? You’re going to stay out here, chopping wood?’
Mike is scandalised. He straightens his back.
‘Tessa!’ he shouts.
Tessa’s bedroom door swings open. Tessa’s head pops out.
‘Tell Conrad here what we did yesterday,’ he says drily
‘Yesterday?’ says Tessa. ‘We finished the bullet yesterday.’
‘What bullet?’ asks Conrad.
The rest of Tessa’s body comes out of the bedroom. ‘It’s a bullet, but it doesn’t fire straight.’
‘Then it’s not a very good bullet,’ says Conrad. He looks to Mike for validation but finds none.
‘It is a good bullet. It’s able to find its target every time, it can move in the air. Dad helped me test it yesterday, and I think we’ve finally finished it.’
Conrad looked in amazement between Tessa and Mike.
‘Mike, this is what you’re doing out here? This is why I want you in the team.’
‘What team, dad?’ asks Tessa curiously.
‘It’s nothing, sweetheart. I’m not going anywhere.’
‘I want you dad to come help me run the country. And your bullet proves why,’ says Conrad.
He’s about to tell her that he is her uncle, her mother’s brother, but decides instead to tell her at a later point. If Mike agrees to go with Conrad, that is.
‘That sounds awesome,’ says Tessa. ‘Are you going to go, dad?’
‘No, I’m not going.’
‘And I want you to come with him, Tessa,’ says Conrad.
Tessa’s mouth makes an O shape, and she outstretched her hands at her father.
‘Dad, let’s go! This is what we’ve always talks about.’
Mike’s shoulders jerk. ‘We’re not going!’ he shouts.
In the silence that follows, Conrad slowly stands up and zips up his coat.
‘Here’s what I’m going to do, Mike,’ he says. ‘I’m going to leave. You and Tessa can talk about it, and I’ll arrange for someone to come collect you – I’m trying to get everything together for six o’ clock tonight. I want you to be there. I want you to hear my case, what I want. You don’t have to agree, you are free to come back home here, to the hut. Where you can go back to chopping wood.’
Mike grunts.
‘But at least find out what you’re turning down.’ He turns to Tessa. ‘Tessa, it’s a genuine pleasure to meet you.’
She mocks a bow. ‘And you too, whoever you are.’
‘I’ll leave that for your dad to tell you,’ and before Mike can grunt in disapproval Conrad asks him ‘do you know if Willomy is still around?’
Willomy Beacons was the guy who used to provide their transport back in the day. After Conrad went into exile, he’d lost touch with him.
Mike shakes his head. ‘No, I don’t know.’
Conrad nods, disappointed. ‘I hope to see you both tonight.’
Mike silently makes his way out through the room and out of the hut.
A few minutes later, as he approaches the white van, he can’t help but smile to himself. Mike was so bloody Mike, and it was good to see him again.
