Thank you @skyloftian-nutcase for the idea :)
I wrote this fic a while ago, I think it’s posted on AO3 about Sky and Hyrule finding a great fairy, and I wrote about Sky suffering in the snow cuz my dude has probably never been cold in his life. Skyloft seems to be a warming temperature, or maybe he’s used to more chilly air cuz he’s so high up, but he’s probably never experienced snow, so I did a continuation of him having hypothermia but it didn’t go anywhere. But I wanted to draw more snow stuff so I drew Sky suffering in the snow with Time trying to help him. All swaddled up in his sailcloth </3 rip
Also this is not au! The original fic was Lu but this is not! Please don’t tag it as such!

Unhinged Fic Rec Wednesday
This weekend I had the pleasure of inhaling Do As You're Told (50k, T) by @roomwithanopenfire. I somehow missed it when it came out a year and a half ago, and I decided to binge-listen with TTS while finishing a quilt. Bad call, because I spent half the time gaping unseeing at the sewing machine, completely enthralled.
This fic disguises itself as a fun little Watford-era magickal mishap. Simon accidentally casts a compulsion spell that makes Baz obey everything he's told. While maintaining a light tone, the story takes the implications of that seriously.
You know how in some fics, the real antagonist isn't a character, but trauma, or lack of communication? Well, here the antagonist is the human capacity for cruelty. It's not torture porn or anything; there's no violence, no gore. But the fic reminds us again and again of how everyone--good people--can be selfish, even sadistic.
It's uncomfortable, and challenging. There's this devastating moment near the end that felt like the author holding up a mirror to the reader who's telling themselves "but I would never..."
And it's a sweet, cute get-together. @roomwithanopenfire is some kind of magician for pulling this off. It's a lot more fun than I'm making it sound.

YouTube Music "Salt and Pepper Diner"ed me today while I was driving and I can confirm that it worked on me exactly like John Mulaney's bit. Because here's the thing about when Snow (Hey Oh) plays over and over and over and over and over again. The second time it played, my immediate thought was not, "Hey YTM's playing Snow (Hey Oh) again." It was, "Hey, Snow (Hey Oh) is a lot longer than I first thought, and it has like a dip in the middle." The third time it played, I was thinking maybe YTM's playing Snow (Hey Oh) again. The fourth time it played I was thinking, "Whoa. YTM just played Snow (Hey Oh) four times, or at least it played it twice and it's a really long song." I tried to skip it but it just started playing Snow (Hey Oh) again for a fifth time. I tried to skip it again but it just started playing Snow (Hey Oh) for the sixth time. Once I got to a stoplight I looked down at my phone, thinking that maybe I had accidentally hit the "repeat this song" button or something. Instead I found that YouTube Music had independently queued up Snow (Hey Oh) on repeat no less than 12 times in a row

why did the 1957 snow queen have to come for my heart with the little robber girl like that
she lets gerda go and just EXLPODES in a whirlwind of rage and grief, slashing the ropes of all her animal captives right and left, chasing them away, yelling, freeing them, falling down and just... cries there all alone... she can't keep them anymore. she can't stand seeing them caged. she couldn't keep gerda and now she doesn't want to keep any of them either
when the critters paused and went back to her. the close up of her hand as a bunny tries nuzzling it, only for her to wave it away, only for the animals to stay with her anyway
it hurt good. im a little throat tight just thinking about it

No but honestly, can we talk about Snow Sugar Cookie and their wand? It’s been mentioned as a wand that can create creatures that don’t melt, and their jelly questions who the original owner is and what they’re doing, there’s clearly more to Snow Sugar Cookie than what they seem
Like, we theorize about the Strawberry Jam Sword and its origins, but I don’t really see people talking about the Snow Sugar Wand, though maybe that’s just me
Not to mention the whole “unknown secret ingredient” bit in Snow Sugar’s story description. Like, what is Snow Sugar’s lore? I want to know
Actually speaking of the Strawberry Jam Sword, anyone else notice that the wand Snow Sugar uses in their Snowy Black Rabbit Royal Outfit (which is basically evil Snow Sugar) has a red gem that looks suspiciously similar to the one in the Strawberry Jam Sword? I dunno, just something interesting I noticed

Okay but also, when I aim to return more actively; is it too early to slowly touch on Christmas threads, even if Genshin hasn't exactly indulged us with it? Liyue not celebrating Christmas (or something akin to it) makes perfect sense, of course, but with the concept of Fontaine being so incredibly European-inspired (alongside Mondstadt), it'd make sense to have something slightly akin to it? With my verse placing Yelan in there more commonly, I just think it'd be neat to introduce her to Fontainian Christmas-y traditions.
