Revenge Body
Tumblr media
The day he dumped my sister...
This is a photo of Eric the day he dumped my sister. According to him, she wasn't good enough to be with a hotshot architect like him! Eric thinks highly of his career and appearance, and he loves himself more than he could love any woman.
My sister had to find that out the hard way.
What Eric doesn't know is that his ex-girlfriend comes from a family of witches. In fact, her speciality is contacting the dead, and that's exactly what she did...
My sister summoned me, her dear-old brother, from beyond the grave and spilled the tea on her ex-boyfriend. Even though I was dead, I was furious with the man, so I agreed to help with my sister's revenge scheme. It might've been petty and unethical, but I was in! Eric needed to lose what he loved most...
2 months later...
Tumblr media
"He's fattening right up!" I sent a selfie to my sister, cradling the bloated gut that hung from my chest.
That's right. I jumped into Eric's body and possessed his ass! In only a short time, I'd completely transformed the jerk's entire existence. I was dragging his perfect body and career down the drain!
After performing Eric's dramatic emotional breakdown at his architectural firm, I got fired and kicked out of the building. I strutted his body back to his place, and quickly sold everything he owned. I got rid of his fancy clothes, his shiny sports car, and his luxury apartment. All the money went directly to my sister. I used what was left to rent out the crappiest little apartment I could find.
It was in that seedy rat-infested motel that I gleefully began to destroy Eric's carefully maintained body. I packed his tight stomach full of beer and fast food, shaved his perfect head of hair, and donned an unwashed outfit I thrifted from a GoodWill.
Now that he was unemployed, I got him a job with a construction company. I made sure to get started with the same crew that Eric used to supervise as the architect. Needless to say, there were a lot of angry tradesmen who weren't happy to see him...
6 Months Later...
Tumblr media
Apparently, construction workers really don't like architects, so they were all constantly badmouthing Eric behind my back. I didn't really stop them, but I also didn't really keep them from doing it to my face either. With me in control, Eric was just a pathetic, submissive loser, and all his new coworkers knew they could push him around.
I didn't wash Eric once while wearing him. My nose eventually became numb to his ripe body odor, but I noticed the disgusted looks on everyone's face when they were near. His skin was constantly itchy with dry sweat and dirt too, but I didn't bother buying him anything else to wear. As far as I was concerned, Eric would get up, work, and sleep in the same repurposed clothes I bought for a few bucks.
By this point, the lean muscles he'd been so proud of were long gone. A heavy layer of blubber hung off his whole body, and he was practically unrecognizable with his shaved head and unkept beard. Giving his heavy beergut a jolly shake, I chuckled and knew it was finally time to move to the final phase...
Present Day...
Tumblr media
It was mid-afternoon when I jumped ship. I abandoned his body after a long morning of heavy lifting, leaving Eric exhausted, sweaty, and caked in mud.
Eric regained control of his senses for the first time after 6 months of being possessed by me. He stood there for a moment, all 280 lbs of him, simply staring at his surroundings in disbelief and confusion.
He didn't start yelling until he looked down and saw the state of his precious body. I doubt he had ever felt so slimy and gross before. As I said, I made sure to leave his body as disgusting as possible for him.
Don't feel bad for him though. My sister and I just made Eric as disgusting on the outside as he was on the inside...

꒰ WC ꒱ : 917
꒰ NOTES ꒱ : Wow, more babies! Hahah who would have thought... Okay I wanted to say that it's the last baby story but it's not, At least next time I'll try to post another topic or you'd start to think I'm weird. The post was supposed to be yesterday and it was also supposed to be a late ask, but the ask is 7k words long and I'm having a serious problem translating it, so I'm going to post this other story today so I can have more time, enjoy!
﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋﹋
"Love, honey, my husband, my man, my sweet, forgive me." Your husband, Ace, whimpered beside you as you lay on the reclining sofa, covered in pillows and with a soft blanket over your huge belly. You had an irritated expression and crossed arms, purposely ignoring him and pretending to pay attention to the television.
"I'm not talking to you," you snorted irritably, and if your feet weren't swollen and your legs weren't aching, you would have kicked his ass out of the house.
"I swear, I didn't know it was your chocolate! I thought it was mine... I'm sorry, my love," he was kneeling on the sofa next to you, his hands clasped together begging for forgiveness, and his puppy eyes were so sad that anyone would have accepted his apologies.
Anyone, except you. No, no, you were a pregnant man dealing with a very active baby and hormones so out of whack that you seemed like a ticking time bomb. You definitely wouldn't forgive your husband for eating the last of your chocolate stash. Especially because it was Sunday! The store that sold your favorite, expensive, artisanal chocolate only opened on Tuesdays. You would have to go two days without your chocolate because of your husband's stupidity in not checking who the chocolate belonged to before swallowing it!
Okay, you weren't exactly craving chocolate in the past few days, and that one had been stored for a long time... But that doesn't change the fact that he shouldn't have eaten it!
"I swear I'll buy the whole store for you to forgive me! Please, don't pout at me like that," he whined again as he lovingly rubbed your arm. Ace hated hurting you, no matter how small the reason. Now that you were pregnant, he tried his best to make you live in paradise, as he was extremely worried when he found out that stress could cause serious complications in pregnancy. Although Marco and Law tried to explain that it had to be an absurd amount of stress, he practically didn't listen and accepted as an absolute truth that even the smallest amount of stress was a deadly risk for you and the baby!
"I hate you," you murmured irritably, and your frustrated pout grew. You didn't like arguing with Ace and usually didn't care so much about something like this, but those damn hormones made you go crazy. One moment you were crying, and the next you were trying to set the house on fire with Ace inside. Then, you would go back to normal as if everything were fine. You could only think that this was Ace's punishment for taking so long to propose to you.
"What can I do to make you forgive me, my king?" he sighed and sat closer to you, kissing your arm and then trying to kiss your cheek, which resulted in you moving away. "You're breaking your poor husband's heart."
"I'll ask for a divorce if you keep annoying me," you said, trying to stay strong, although you were almost giving up on arguing and just getting lost in Ace's warm embrace.
"Ouch... So cruel," he whimpered and carefully laid on your belly, then gently stroked it, giving kisses on the shirt you were wearing. "Come on, little guy, help your old man make peace with your daddy. He'll put me to sleep on the couch if he stays like this," he whimpered, trying to get help from his unborn child.
Before you could reprimand Ace again, a kick was felt by both of you... Your baby had just kicked exactly where Ace's head was, making him startle and jump from the slight blow he received, causing both of you to widen your eyes in shock.
"Our son just kicked me?" he asked, confused and incredulous about the situation.
"Humph, looks like it's two against one now," you smiled triumphantly as you caressed your belly. "Our son is smart, he knows that this daddy here is the only one whose right," you continued teasing Ace, already feeling your mood improve and the anger dissipating.
"This is unfair! The two men in my life are ganging up against me!" he crossed his arms with a pouting expression.
"Think twice before eating my sweets next time," you shrugged. "You heard the baby, today Daddy Ace sleeps on the couch," you laughed, feeling some gentle kicks from your baby, as if he really agreed with you.
"This little rascal will have to deal with me when he's born... Stealing my husband, I was here before you," he muttered childishly as he glared at your belly. "And you, mister grumpy husband, I'm going to squeeze and kiss you until you're forced to forgive me! And if you try to kick me out of our room, I'll cry at the door like a stray dog," Ace made his threat, and before you could disagree, he threw himself on top of you, covering your face with kisses as he hugged you tightly. All you could do was laugh, feeling ticklish from his kisses. You didn't usually get mad at your husband so often, but if it meant having him as a repentant little puppy trying to win your forgiveness through affection and love... Maybe you would start getting mad more often, especially if your son would help you.

Can I ask sirens or mermaids come in packs or groups what if siren!Yuu decides on welcoming her siren side and join a pack or group of siren and feels safe as her pack is ranked 1# most powerful siren group/pack the group has a strong reputation and strong power to protect each other especially weak and fragile pack/group mate so there is a chance they that siren!Yuu will be protected and they have a little cottage in the human world!! Where they can hang out and chill in the sea that is where they sing like I know this is too oof I just want fluff for siren! Yuu ok ;-; because that baby needs some friends that can protect her their theme song is definitely "Birth of Venus"!!! It's too much but make fluff for here for a bit please🙏🥹🥹
ok first of all thanks for the song it's very good, it's now part of my family's playlist.
Second! The mc is actually half siren jsjs I'm not sure if I posted it before but the tragedy of the mermaid mc was that they were left behind by their bank for being too weak compared to all their siblings who were full sirens, mc also got hurt in a hunt and that's when their bank decided they didn't want the little one dragging them down. Mc was abandoned and had to survive on their own for a long time. That's why they fell for Leona and let themselves get caught in a net, because they admired the way the pirate ship worked together and there was no distinction between the stronger humans and those who may have been considered weak because they lacked a leg or hand. Something that would definitively get you kicked out of your bank in the sea, was seen as normal on the ship. The leader even lacked an eye and still looked so sure and fierce while commanding everyone. The mc admired Leona and wanted to be part of something desperately, they thought maybe those humans were different, those humans may accept a boney and afraid thing and not abandon it. We know how that ended.
But for the fluff, I didn't write it nor draw it but sometimes I think about it in the middle of the day. The mc is supposed to have a very happy stay with the Pomefiore trio! Leona's ship gets arrested after a very bad storm that weakened them, and most of their stuff was confiscated or sold in the black market, including the mermaid mc. Here's where most of the timelines divide, but in the pomefiore one, Rook buys the mc at an auction and takes them back home to Vil, who's working hard to finally surpass Neige in the theatre/opera house. Rook suggests that a mermaid might be the perfect singing teacher for Vil, and Vil while not convinced feels pity for the traumatized person brought to her who is too afraid to go back to the sea, and decides that as long as mc helps her get better at singing, teaches them that charm able to captivate everyone, she will provide them with a roof over their heads and three warm meals every day.
Tumblr media
The mc eats their first warm meal when dining with the pomefiore trio, it was so tasty that it made the mermaid shed tears. They never thought it would become a normal thing for them with time, that they would learn to cook it, nor the effect it would have on their body. When they see the first belly roll form on their body while bending the sight makes them feel so weird but also so grateful. The mc discovers what a book is, and they hate reading but are fascinated with watching pictures of different animals and biomes on land, they are particularly fascinated with ants and bugs. They feel pride for the first time, not only for themselves but also for Vil whenever she perfects any singing lesson. The mermaid mc starts dreaming of being able to walk and bake every day to give people a warm treat, and sharing what they have with Vil, Rook, Epel, and those who don't have a family.
The problem is that the mc fears soon they will no longer have anything to teach Vil, and fear returning to the sea + Neige isn't happy about mc's involvement in Vil's life + Azul is looking for MC in land </3

A day off with Kunimi
Manager Miniseries
─Aoba Josai x fem!reader
─Summary: You're not in the mood for training and Kunimi seems to be on the same line of thought as you
─Warnings: none
12 < 13 > 14
Tumblr media
You were walking calmly to school, very sleepy, you almost fell or crashed on the street several times, it had not been a good choice to stay up late watching movies. You had no choice but to endure the morning, or that was what you had planned to do if it weren't for a certain first year boy, who was kicking a can with an ass face outside the gym.
"Where has Kunimi gone? Also why is (Nn) so late?"
Oikawa's voice echoed throughout the place, you and Kunimi could hear the team's confusion due to the silence at the entrance, both looked at each other without wanting to enter. Kunimi was the first to step forward, grabbing your hand to get out of there, trying not to let them hear the footsteps. A light laugh escaped your lips, thinking that you would no longer have to suffer being among a bunch of sweaty boys today, you mentally thanked your junior, tightening the grip on your clasped hands.
"I'm sorry for dragging you, I just figured you didn't feel like putting up with training today either."
"No, It's ok, I think I'll run away with you today."
He just nodded and you walked to a cafe near the high school, at your request, you were going to die of sleep if you didn't drink some caffeine immediately. When you left there you two decided to walk near the school, although finally ended up leaving, skipping a day wouldn't hurt.
"Where do you want to go?"
"Honestly, my house, but it's far away and I'm lazy."
You laughed at how sincere he was, then he thought that walking through a small market that wasn't that far away would be good, since you could entertain with the things they sold there. When you arrived, you tried on some oddly shaped glasses from a small stall, you forced Kunimi to put on the typical glasses with a fake mustache to take a photo.
He just sighed every time you stopped to look at any absurdity, like children's toys or flashy things. He only stopped when he was in front of a sweets stand, they sold a lot of different types, but he only noticed some in particular, salted caramels, they were his favorite. You noticed ir and smiled, buying several of those candies, sharing them with him, which at first he refused but then agreed to take some.
He had to hold your hand so you wouldn't get lost among so many people, he was getting tired of being there, especially because there was more and more crowd and it was becoming difficult to walk down the narrow street without crashing into someone. In fact, at the end of the street someone pushed you so hard that you even knocked Kunimi to the ground.
"Oh fu-, look where you're going, you idiot!" The lack of sleep mixed with the stress of all those people made you explode, but your focus was on Kunimi who was cleaning his pants "I'm sorry, someone pushed me, are you okay?"
"Don't worry, it hasn't been much different from when we have to do dives in training"
He feigned disinterest, even finding a funny point to the accident, you sighed at his attitude. You finished seeing things, deciding to stay in a park sitting next to a pond, watching the ducks fight to get a piece of bread that an old woman threw them.
"What a beautiful couple."
You two looked at the old lady, you had not realized that you were still holding hands and you separated immediately, causing the lady to laugh, after the embarrassing scene you left there, tyou had had enough.
"Okay, now I really want to go home, want to come?"
"Sure."
He wasn't going to stand walking from one place to another aimlessly anymore so you simply went to the boy's house, who just wanted to rest lying in his bed with some good blankets and a movie, even if you accompanied him it didn't bother him, at this point he just want to rest and do nothing.
He let out a contented sigh as he closed the door to his house, telling you where to leave your slippers while you got used to the hospitality of Kunimi's house. As you spent the morning walking around the market, you arrived just around lunchtime, although no one was home, and you had to improvise something, that is, you ordered something for delivery. While the food arrived, you started arguing about what movie to watch, because you are both iPad kids and you need to watch something while you eat.
"For the last time I'm not going to watch Barbie of Swan Lake or Meet the Robinsons."
"Kuni-"
"No."
"But-"
"No."
You sighed exhaustedly, thinking about other movies, a light bulb went off in your head, and you decided to play an old reliable, Home Alone. Kunimi brought a couple of blankets, at some point in the movie you were practically hugging. Halfway through the movie his mother burst in, mocking her son for bringing a girl home, commenting on what an adorable couple you made. Kunimi had to kick her out because his mother and you started talking about him when he was a baby, because she show you an old photo. The movies ─because you decided to see a couple more─ went by so fast that you didn't even realize that it was already quite late.
"Honey, why don't you offer my future daughter-in-law a stay over?"
Everyone there knew that this was not a question but a statement, rather, an order. You almost choked upon hearing her, even though she was just teasing you, you went on to join forces at dinner to embarrass Kunimi instead, that family album can be a real danger in your hands.
"Leave the door open Akira!"
He rolled his eyes as guided you to the bathroom, lending you a change of clothes so could sleep comfortably. You could only laugh, deciding that you had had enough for today, you threw onto the bed next to Kunimi to rest, staring at the ceiling in silence listening to the little sound that came from Kunimi's phone, the first yawn was the signal for you to decide to go to sleep once and for all, you raised your leg, hitting the boy's foot.
"Good night Kunimi."
"Night..."
You smiled as you closed your eyes, taking seconds to fall into your deepest dreams, hoping that today is not the day you start talking in your sleep. He looked at you for a few seconds before putting down the phone and turning off the light without wanting to stay up late, tomorrow it wouldn't be so easy to escape from training taking into account the number of ignored messages in the team's group chat.

Turtle Tricks
Tumblr media
Summary: The gang is out and ready to get the whole Halloween experience. Sadly your girl group ditched you. Luckily you have your boyfriend with you!
P.S: Hello! Halloween season is officially over. Christmas is comin up! But before that, here is part 2 to Turtle Treaters. I hope you guys enjoy it!
The streets of New York are almost always full of pedestrians walking about and going with their day. But this hallows eve, and on every holiday really, that number of people always doubled. The Halloween fair had stalls lined up on every block. Some sold candies like chocolate and candy corn, while others sold desserts like pumpkin bars and pies. Others even held games where you could win prizes. The scents that came from the sugary goodness wafted in the air giving the stale New York wind a Halloweeny sweetness. Each one of you could feel your mouth salivate from the sights and smells. It was almost a sensory overload. And of course, being a gang of eight, everyone wanted to go in different directions and eat as much candy as they can stuff in their faces. Cassandra wanted to go for the, according to Donnie, strangely anatomically correct skull cookies. April and Sunita went straight for the stall selling gummies shaped like everything Halloween. That left the boys, your boyfriend, and you to figure out how to split up.
Raph
"Raphie, you smell that?" How you were able to smell anything through the material of your hippo suit is a mystery in itself, but yes Raph did smell that.
"Is that, chocolate?"
"Yeah! Come on!"
Letting you pull him through the crowd of New Yorkers, Raph follows you to a small stall with a fairly large crowd selling hot chocolate. Apparently, this was hot choco with a "twist" which made it extra special. Some of the customers walked away with horrified faces, while others with giggling with joy. If the smell wasn't enough to buy you in, curiosity definitely did.
"Ooh~ We have to get some!"
"I don't know. The line is pretty long. Might take us a while."
"Pretty please~? It's cold."
That was an absolute lie. Sure the November wind may have been cold but inside your hippo suit, you felt like thanksgiving turkey on slow cook wearing it. Was that gonna stop you from Halloween hot choco? Definitely not. Raph didn't know how, but he could feel your puppy eyes from underneath the suit. And with or without seeing it, he would always be weak to it. Always.
"Alright fine, let's get in line."
Happily, you skipped in line with Raph standing beside you. And, luckily enough, the fairly long line moved surprisingly fast. The wait only lasted five minutes tops before it was both your turn. Soon enough, you were both sitting on a side bench with your hot chocos in hand. With a pop, you remove the head of your suit with a sigh of relief. Raph never looked like he was baking inside wearing this, maybe it was a mutant turtle-ninja...thing.
"I thought you said it was cold?"
"It is now."
Taking a sip, you were surprised by the spicy kick you felt in your mouth. Not cinnamon spicy, more like cayenne pepper spicy. It was yummy. You were about to take another sip when Raph shrieked beside you. You turned to look and find your boyfriend looking at his cup, horrified.
"Why, what's wrong?"
"There's…something…very wrong with mine."
Glancing at his cup, you spot three eyeballs floating in his hot choco. All looking upwards, glassily at him. And you since you were looking down at his cup of hot choco.
"Ooh~ those are good."
Raph gave you a look before you had to explain that they were marshmallows filled, usually, with strawberry jam. You suggested he pop one in his mouth and, although reluctantly, he did. It tasted good, but he still felt icky about it though. You only laughed at his squirmish expression, which made him huff, before taking another sip.
"Hey, you have something on your face."
You couldn't even react before he kissed you on the cheek. Out of nowhere.
"You had some whipped cream there."
Leo
Seeing as your girl group ditched you with your boyfriend and his brothers, you decided to have a look around. See if anything caught your fancy. And sure enough, something did. A horror house. Filled with the screams of horrified teens who thought they were brave enough to traverse the maze-like corridors of the nightmarish attraction. You tugged at Leo's Lou Jitsu sleeve to get his attention. Once you got it, you gestured to the attraction. Raising your eyebrows in a challenge.
"Babe, the first one who screams loses. The winner gets pizza rights."
Leo, being the champion turtle that he was, grinned mischievously and pulled you to the ticket booth.
"One for me and my fine partner here, if you please."
"Please follow Frankenstein to the house entrance."
The ticketer said, gesturing to the staff dressed as Frankenstein who stood just to the right of the booth. Quickly, you two followed after them and entered the horror house with determination. After all, extra pizza slices were in the line. Thirty minutes in, and no one has made a single noise. Outside the subtle jumps, sweaty palms held tightly in each other’s sweaty grip, and the hardly unnoticeable inching closer together, not even a silent gasp left your mouths. Immediately after a turn, written on the wall in wet and drippy red paint were the words 'Keep running! You're almost there!' Naturally, this prompted you both to speed walk towards the almost-there exit. And, like a light at the end of the tunnel, the way out was in sight. That was until... something sprung out from the shadows. It was big. It was slimy. It was...
"EEEEEEEEK"
'flash'
"That's going in the album!"
"...piebald?"
"Hey there, honey! It's been a while!"
"What are you doing here?"
At this point, Leo, who somehow got behind you peeked out all fidgety still.
"Well, I figured that this would be the ideal part-time job. Tryin' to earn some money for my new tank. The place is nice, but needs some feminine touches."
"Ooh~ that's great! Say, you wouldn't mind sending me that pic, would you?"
You walked out of the horror house with a smug smirk directed at your defeated boyfriend. And he, he didn't like that. Not only did he look super lame, but he also lost! He LOsT! So he did the next most logical thing. Grabbing your slick, black blazer he gently yet quickly tugged you upwards. To his beak. Kissing you. Your first kiss. On the lips.
"Wipe the smug smile off your face."
"Hmm, I dunno I'm gonna have to think about it. Give me another and I just might."
Donnie
"Am I hallucinating? Or is that stall just west of us, selling automatons to unsupervised children on Halloween?"
Looking toward the direction you indicated, there was indeed, a stall filled to the brim with mechanical trinkets and gizmos. On the center stage of the stall was an intricately made wooden robotic cat. And being the pair of science nerds you and Donnie were, you both immediately squeezed through the crowd of people and toward the stall. Upon closer inspection, the stall was filled specifically with animal and insect-themed robots such as spiders and bats. All were intricately made with various materials ranging from wood to silver to copper.
"The machinations within also seemed to be incorporated properly as well. Tell me, good fellow, did you make these all by yourself."
The vendor enthusiastically replied yes. Stating that each piece was handmade and, literally, took them days to accomplish. Understandable, considering the meticulousness that came from both building and designing such creations.
"May we take a look at this one, please?" You said. Pointing at the cat that had drawn you to this stall in the first place.
The vendor nodded and gently removed the mechanism from its case and onto the table in front of you.
"So tell us, how does this exactly work?"
The vendor gave the both of you a long look before smiling and said, "Well for a start, you'll need a knife."
You and Donnie nodded in unison.
"And then you cut it."
...
"eXCusE uS?!"
"Will you be buying this one? I would like to demonstrate if so."
Let's just say that you and Donnie had to dish up all your Halloween candy money to buy it. Was it a worthwhile spend? Short answer, yes. After having paid for it, the vendor proceeded to unsheathe their knife and cut into the robot. First came the crunching from the exterior. Then came the strong smell of...chocolate? There was no wheezing of cut-in-half gears or the static of also cut-in-half wires. Just very, very, gooey chocolate cake. They then proceeded to push the slice toward you and Donnie. Unsurely, he took a piece of the cake and into his mouth. Don't get him wrong, the cake was heavenly, almost divine. But his brain just could not comprehend what just happened.
"d!...D!...Donnie!"
Donnie turned towards you. Eyebrows raised in confusion. How were you not phased by this?! Apparently, his expression was very readable since you said, "Hyper-realistic cake. I've never seen it in person but they have been going viral. Also, you have some chocolate on your face. Mind if I?"
Donnie only nodded. Still completely out of it when you gently wiped a napkin across his bottom lip. Swiping at the gooey chocolate. You giggled when, despite being so obviously rattled to the shell, he still reacted shyly to your touch as a soft blush started to dust his cheeks. It took a while before the two of you could arrive at the meeting point i.e the same place where everyone split up, only to find the rest of the turtles still arguing about which direction to go. Raph, having been facing your general direction, saw you and Donnie and the expensive cake placed in a transparent plastic box in your hands.
"Please don't tell me you used all your Halloween money on that."
"It was a worth it buy."
Mikey
"Mikey! Look!"
You excitedly poke Mikey's paper mache pumpkin as you point toward the line of stalls selling jack-o-lanterns and carved candles.
"It's our people!"
As fast as you both could in your jack-o-lantern costumes, you waddled toward the stalls hand in hand. You both first went to the candle stalls, becoming immediately drawn to the details and colors of each one. Some had solid colors. Others had layers of black, white, and orange. All of them were carved in elegant petal-like designs that curved sometimes inward, sometimes outward, till they reached the bottom of the candle. They even had cats and witches carved into them. There was one in particular that caught your eye. It was a scented cinnamon candle with a green outer layer with the inside being an arrangement of oranges and yellow. It would look perfect in Mikey's room aesthetic.
"See something you like babe?"
"Oh, nothing much. They're all so beautiful."
You were definitely buying that behind his back. Of course, you couldn't forget about your fellow jack-o-lanterns on display. There were small ones, ones as big as your head, some smooth and others rough. There were even some that you could use like a mask and some that sold them as candy buckets filled with Halloweeny goodness. You both definitely bought a matching pair of buckets. There were some pies in your buckets that Mikey just had to get the recipe too.
"I'll be right back. I gotta know the secret to this pie."
"Alright, I'll be waiting here.
Of course, you weren't. While Mikey waddled back to the bucket stall determined to get that recipe, you waddled back to the candle stall. And, to your luck, it was still there! You excitedly beckoned to the vendor for it. They gladly wrapped it up for you. Like they really wrapped it up. Bubble wrap and all.
"It's very fragile. So be very careful with it." The vendor advised as they handed you the bubble-wrapped candle in exchange for your money.
"I will! Thank you!"
Very, very carefully, you placed the candle in the deepest pocket of your soft crocheted jack-o-lantern costume. Were you glad you decided to crochet those in. Quickly, well as fast as you could, you waddled back to where Mikey left you just in time to see him waddling back to you.
"Someone is making pumpkin pie tonight! Come on, we better get back."
You giggled at his excitement. The candle you gave to him at the layer. He never did use it. "Art too precious to tarnish" he would say. He definitely asked Donnie for the meaning of tarnish.

So here it is:
When Darius had asked Hunter if he wanted to live with him, Hunter hadn't been quite sure why he was asking. Did Darius perhaps need someone to help him with the household chores? But Hunter quickly realized that wasn't the case. When he first wanted to do the dishes, Darius had only said that he would always have one of his abominations do them and that Hunter could just relax and do something else.
So why did he want Hunter to live with him? What did he want from Hunter if not to do the housework for him?
It all really confused him and Hunter increasingly didn't know what to make of certain situations he was thrown into.
Whenever Darius asked him about his interests, Hunter evaded and said he didn't have any or he was still thinking about things. It was better not to stand out too much in case Hunter liked something that Darius didn't like. He certainly didn't want the abomination coven head to kick him out again just because he couldn't just be quiet and pretend to be an ordinary and undamaged kid.
But Hunter especially tried to keep it a secret that he loved to wear colorful clothes. He had never seen Darius in colors other than purple, black, and white.
Besides, he and Darius had been at the market in Bonesborough the other day and there had been a sweater hanging on one of the stalls that Hunter had liked immediately. It had been light blue and had had flowers and different colors and shapes and in the middle of the front had been a big orange heart embroidered on it.
But Darius had just wrinkled his nose and asked a little disgusted, "Who would buy something like that?
And so Hunter had decided not to wear anything that Darius would call ugly. He loved fashion and Hunter knew that Darius would probably kick him out if he wore something Darius didn't think was good enough.
Hunter had once tried to add something more colorful and individual to his golden guard uniform. It had been a simple colorful flower patch that he had sewn onto his dark trousers rather poorly, but Belos had not been at all pleased by the idea. He had freaked out immediately when he had seen the colorful patch on Hunter's pants.
So when Hunter and Darius went shopping a few days into Hunter's second week at Darius' house, because one morning Darius said, "The four outfits you own can hardly be called a whole closet." Hunter tried to ignore everything he thought was beautiful.
They were already in the second store. In the first, Hunter had chosen the two plainest pairs of shoes, although he would much rather have had the bright red ones they sold there as well.
Now Hunter pulled everything off the hangers that looked like something Darius would wear, only a little plainer, after all, Hunter didn't want Darius to think he was trying to replace him or anything.
But no matter what Hunter did, his eyes kept wandering over to this one colorful skirt that was hanging on a hanger on the wall a little further back.
It was a pink skirt with different colored dots on it and Hunter really wanted to try it on, but he knew there was nothing about it that Darius would like and he didn't want to upset Darius.
Hunter had had one more scar on his leg as a result, when Belos had been mad at him back then, because Belos had lashed out with the green goop and ripped the patch off his pants, though he hadn't been very careful about it, so Hunter had limped back to his room afterwards with tears in his eyes.
Hunter didn't want Darius to have a reason to be mad at him, because Hunter really liked living with him. He didn't want Darius to kick him out, because it was really nice to have someone there to ask him every morning how he was feeling and if he slept well. And he just didn't want to lose that.
But Hunter tended to do things he shouldn't. So he took a quick look around for Darius, and when he was sure the man was busy, he sprinted through the rows of clothes to grab the skirt. He pulled the garment off the hanger and hid it among the rest of the plainer clothes he had already picked out.
Hunter wasn't planning on actually buying the skirt, he just wanted to look in the dressing room mirror and see what it looked like on him. And he probably could risk that.
Hunter walked over to Darius, who was struggling through a collection of purple pants and was looking at one of them as if he wasn't sure if he should buy it or not. That's when he noticed Hunter. "Oh, little prince, did you find something too?"
"Yes, I was going to suggest that we could go to the changing rooms now. Of course, only if you're ready, too. "He added the last sentence quickly, so as not to seem disrespectful, after all, he owed Darius at least that, even if he still didn't quite understand why Darius would want Hunter to live with him.
But Darius just nodded, "It's probably better that way. If I keep looking for clothes, I'll take more home with me later than you will."
Hunter opened his mouth briefly to ask what would be so bad about that, but then closed it again without having said anything.
"I say that because we're here to restock your wardrobe, not mine, little prince," Darius said, who seemed to have Hunter figured out. Hunter pressed his lips together and tried to look as emotionless as possible. Belos had always used it against him when he knew what Hunter was thinking or feeling, and Hunter didn't want to find out if Darius would do the same.
So they headed for the changing rooms. On the way they passed several dresses, pants and sweaters that Hunter would have liked to take with him and try on instead of the plain clothes, but he had to stick to his plan. His heart sank more and more the closer they got to the changing rooms, as if he knew he was making a mistake.
In the changing room, he first put on one of the plain outfits and showed it to Darius. Darius said that it would fit Hunter, but he didn't seem to 'feel' it. But Hunter had no idea what that meant. And anyway, wasn't the real purpose of clothing to fit him?
Hunter only understood what Darius meant when he tried on the skirt second, along with a purple T-shirt. He seemed happier immediately, like a completely different person. The skirt fell fluffy and airy around his legs and Hunter grinned childishly to himself as he turned a little and the skirt moved with him.
"Hunter? "That was Darius' voice, "Show me the next outfit. Judging by your laugh, you seem to like it a lot."
Hunter slapped a hand over his mouth. Had he laughed without realizing it? Apparently he had. But now Darius expected him to present an outfit that he 'felt'. But everything else Hunter had taken into the changing room with him was stuff that didn't really excite Hunter. Besides, he didn't have time to put on another outfit without it looking weird.
"Hunter, dear, is everything okay? "Darius sounded concerned, but somehow that only made Hunter more nervous.
He needed to get out of here. Everything seemed so tight all of a sudden. Even the skirt. Hunter took off the clothes and threw them on the floor. Then he reached for his familiar clothes and frantically put them on.
At that moment, he heard Darius' voice say, "Try to breathe, Hunter. It's all right."
It sounded like Darius stepped back from the door to give Hunter some space, and Hunter took that opportunity to rush out of the changing room and head for the exit. He heard Darius call behind him, "Hunter! Wait!"
But then he was already out of the store and running down the street, past confused looking witches and demons.
He didn't know where to run at all. The only person he could think of, except for Darius, but he wouldn't have been an option in this situation anyway, was Camila. But Hunter knew that Camila would tell him to just talk to Darius about everything.
So Hunter stopped and leaned against a cool stone wall in a side alley and slowly lowered himself to the ground. What on earth had he been thinking? He didn't even want to imagine how mad Darius would be if he found him. Or maybe he wouldn't look for him at all, but simply decide Hunter wasn't worth the trouble.
He pulled his legs to his chest and buried his face in his arms. Only now did tears well up in his eyes and he began to cry.
Hunter had no idea how long he had been sitting there when he heard Darius' voice ask, "Hunter? Is it okay if I sit with you?"
But Hunter was not able to register the words at all. When he looked up a few seconds later, face tear-stained and eyes all red, Darius had crouched to the floor some distance away and seemed to be making himself as small as possible so as not to tower over Hunter in a threatening manner.
"You need to take a deep breath, little prince. "Darius said, his voice sounding incredibly soft and little more than a whisper.
And only then did Hunter realize he was hyperventilating. Slowly he stretched out his fingers and did the counting exercise Gus had shown him.
"It's going to be okay." and "You're doing very well." Darius whispered in between, which helped to calm Hunter down even more.
After a while of trying to breathe deeply, he started to feel a little better.
Darius smiled softly, yet somewhat sadly, and nodded to the asphalt next to Hunter. "May I?"
Hunter just nodded and Darius slowly and carefully sat down next to him.
"I'm sorry. "Darius said softly and as Hunter was about to say something in reply he continued, "I seem to have made you feel like you can't talk to me about anything, and for that I am truly sorry. Whatever it is that made you run away, you can tell me. Really."
Hunter avoided Darius' gaze and looked down at his feet, which he scuffed a little nervously across the asphalt. "I- well- " He took another deep breath, literally feeling the air rush through his lungs. So he tried again, "I didn't want you to be mad."
"Why would I be mad at you, little prince?" asked Darius gently.
"Because- "Hunter looked up at him and blinked away tears that threatened to burst from his eyes again.
"It's all good. Take your time. "Darius said.
Hunter avoided his gaze again as he asked softly, "Can you hold me? Just- just for a second I- never mind. Forget what I said! That was really stupid, I- "
But Darius stretched out his arms and looked at Hunter with a loving, concerned look. He put one hand on Hunter's back and pulled him closer. The other hand he used to gently caress the back of Hunter's head.
"What is it that's troubling you, little prince?" asked Darius, but his voice still sounded just gentle.
"I don't understand why," Hunter began, tears running down his cheeks again. He snuggled closer to Darius and held onto the front of his shirt, afraid Darius would let him go again, "I don't understand why you took me in. I don't understand what you want from me."
"I- Hunter, I want you to be okay. In the last few days before the day of unity, I really realized how wrong I've been all this time and what a wonderful child you are. I wanted to prevent you from being hurt again. I'm sorry, I should have made my intentions clear from the beginning, little prince," Darius said, gently rocking Hunter back and forth.
"I thought- I thought it would be a good idea in fashion- well, to stick to what you're wearing. B- Belos, he- he never liked it when I- well- when I tried to be myself. And I guess I kind of thought you'd react similarly. "Hunter murmured, closing his eyes as the soft warmth of Darius' body made him feel safe.
"You can wear whatever you want," Darius said, gently stroking a hand through his hair, which was still disheveled from his hasty escape, "but I figured it was something like that."
"How- "
"The colorful skirt on the floor," Hunter could hear Darius' smile in his voice, "I bought that skirt, by the way. Because judging from your laugh, you liked it a lot. And tomorrow we'll go out shopping again, and I want you to choose whatever you like, not what you think I might like."
Hunter broke away from the hug and looked at Darius with a wide smile that showed the gap in his teeth.
"I- thank you Darius. "he said, feeling his ears turn a little red.
Darius pulled him into a hug again and nuzzled him gently. "I want you to know that the only thing I want from you is for you to be happy."

Lessons Learned at My First Book Signing
I attended an in-person author event today for the first time ever. It was not an especially high-profile deal -- just a local author fair hosted by the library. But it was still the first time I'd ever set up a table for the purpose of selling and signing books and interacting with would-be readers, and I want to talk about that experience a little bit and give some take-aways and advice for other writers who might be curious about doing something like this.
Tumblr media
Step One: Find an Event
My dear friend and co-conspirator @comicreliefmorlock tipped me off about this. She saw a flier for it at the library and I applied on a whim, not even sure if I'd get accepted for the event. But I did! And that's the first lesson I want to give you: Everything good I have in my life I got by saying, "Fuck it, let's give it a shot."
Don't get too deep in your own head about things. Don't self-reject from opportunities. Kick imposter syndrome in the teeth and just do the thing.
Step Two: Set Up a Table
I was operating on a major shoestring budget for this, and I didn't have time to put together real signage or anything fancy. But I could go to the dollar store for some Halloween flair and a tablecloth and honestly? Even that was eye-catching enough that it definitely lured some people over. Next time I'll be better prepared to do something a bit more cohesive. But even these little touches put me miles beyond most of the other authors there, who just had a small stack of books on a bare table.
A few tips:
Don't put out all your books at once. Leave most of them in the box and tuck it under the table or somewhere. Fewer books, artfully arranged = implied scarcity. And it just looks nicer.
Scatter your business card/swag around the table. Consider leaving out a dish of candy. Freebies lure people into stopping.
Put up a sign with pricing. I used a small whiteboard from the dollar store and doodled on it when I got bored.
Try to have a little flair. Keep it on-brand with the type of stuff you're writing. The goal here is to be eye-catching enough that people want to come see what you've got going on.
Step Three: What You'll Need
If you're going to attend any kind of author fair or signing event, I recommend the following:
Some way to take payment not in cash. If I'd had a Square reader today, I would have probably sold at least a couple more books. Nobody carries cash anymore (but plan to have a bit of change anyway). The sales I made today came through PayPal, and having that QR code sign (free with my business account!) came in clutch.
An assistant. If you can, try to bring someone along to be your helper. It makes a huge difference having somebody who can watch your table while you go network with other sellers, as well as somebody who can help make change and restock the books if you get busy talking to people. And on the flipside, if nobody shows up, your helper can keep you from feeling super lonely and awkward.
Some kind of swag or, at least, a business card. Bookmarks or stickers/bookplates would be baller, too. But you for sure need something with your name and some kind of identifier -- your website, your social media, your Wattpad, something. This is what my business card looks like:
Tumblr media
They're double-sided (the black is on the back). I had these printed up for Wattcon 2018 (and then forgot them in my car at the airport) and didn't have a website yet at that point. But I'm still quite fond of them. I designed them, had them printed, and picked them up at Office Depot.
I cannot express enough the importance of the business card. You may think you're there to sell books. But you are actually there so that people will remember your name. Folks who stop by might not be ready to buy your book, but they might check you out later. At the very least, they'll now have a thing with your name on it in their possession, which will help stick in their mind so the next time they see your name, it will have a ring of familiarity to it, which will make them much more likely to be interested in what you're doing.
Step Four: Talk to People!
Make eye contact and smile with passers-by. Engage with people who look interested in what you have to offer. Don't try to hard-sell or anything, but be available to answer questions. Have a quick, one-sentence pitch for explaining your book at the ready. Encourage people to take your swag.
And then get up and go talk to other people! If you're at an event where there are multiple authors, go introduce yourself (bring a business card!) and ask them questions about their work. Be friendly. I traded one of my books for a book from my neighbor's table today:
Tumblr media
Eirik, it turns out, is a Twitter mutual of mine. We share like 20 online acquaintances and would have never known we lived in the same place if not for this event. I tagged him in my tweet about the event, and he tagged me back for his followers. That's networking, baby! (also this book looks sweet as hell. The Great Gatsby with werewolves? yes please. I'll let you know how it is after Angel gets done with it because she yoinked it from me as soon as it came back to the table).
Even if there aren't any other authors to meet-and-greet and network with, ingratiate yourself with the staff of the library/bookstore/wherever. Be friendly and thank them for the work they're putting in. Being kind and gracious is how you get invited back to more events. And you really want to make friends of librarians and bookstore employees because they're in a position every day to recommend books to dozens of people. Word of mouth is literally priceless in this business.
Something I saw others doing that was really smart is capturing email addresses to add to their newsletter. One had a giveaway raffle - sign up, then a name gets drawn at the end. One just encouraged people to sign up so they could learn more about his work. This was really clever and a good use of the space -- I'm going to do something similar next time I do this!
Step Five: Don't Get Discouraged
I sold two books at this event. That was twice as many as anybody else I talked to. Like I said earlier -- this is a marketing thing, not a chance to profit directly off book sales. Don't feel disappointed if you go to something like this and don't sell out. If people are scoping you out and engaging with you at all, if they're taking your card or signing up for your newsletter, that's a win.
R.L. Stine pretty famously had one person come to his first book signing. He writes about it in his autobiography. I figure, if his career could start out like that, it's good enough for anybody.
You can learn a lot from going to an event even if you're not selling books. From watching the way people interacted with my table, I came away with a few observations:
Most people who use libraries are, in order: old people, parents with young kids, teenagers. Of that, I captured the most attention of teenagers. They were drawn like catnip over to my table, maybe because of the Halloween decor, maybe because of the covers. Old people don't read horror, by and large -- they prefer mysteries. But a lot of them know someone else in their life who does like scary stuff, and a lot of them took my card to presumably tell their loved ones about it. (I had a few teenagers who absolutely would have been sales if they'd had any money. I told them I was also on Wattpad and encouraged them to take a card to look me up there. The response to that was an even mixture of bafflement, suspicion, and excitement. Yes, graying middle-aged farts like me are on Wattpad.)
The Darkness of Dreamland was far and away the book that captured people's attention. I think the cover really drew people in.
Tumblr media
Purple is an unusual color in the genre, and that hand-painted unicorn with its malevolent, unusual design is a real eye-catcher. A lot of people wanted to stop and read the back cover to see what was up with this book. Which leads me to....
Your back cover copy is your most effective sales pitch. The front cover has to get them through the door, and the back cover seals the deal. It's really easy when you're working on them to forget about that. It's easy to get too deep in your head about making both of them accurate or literal interpretations of the story or symbolic or whatever. That's not the purpose. Your book cover is a marketing tool, it is ad copy, and you have to approach it with that mindset.
So those were my takeaways from my first-ever author fair. I hope some of this was at least a little interesting or helpful for you! I got a lot out of this experience, even if I did spend a whole lot more money ordering copies than I earned selling them -- now I just have to challenge myself to sell the rest of the books in my trunk!
Happy to answer any questions or give clarification on things.

Yup israel is their ancestral homeland. Too bad it's also the homeland of those Palestinians. Why do you only go as far back as "israel for the jews"? Also "the colonizers and the invaders" I thought the right were against that mentality. Foes this mean you're going to abandon the United States to the native population? Or how about all humans should abandon all the land except a small part of Africa since that's where they came from. Can't just pick an arbitrary cutoff for native land.
It's not the homeland of those Palestinians. There's no such thing as "Palestinians". Palestinian is a term that was adopted by people who lived in a land that was never theirs because they wanted to kill all the Jews who returned to their native land after it was given back to them following WW2. They could have gone to Jordan or Egypt, but they didn't. They instead immediately started a war to kill the Jews, and got their asses kicked. So Israel belongs to the Israelis by right of birth and right of conquest.
As for the American Indians, I fully support them having their own sovereign lands. Hell, I even support them buying back their old lands. There's a tribe in Wisconsin I believe that's doing that right now and I hope they keep going and get those lands recognized as a reservation so they can govern themselves. The difference between the Indians and the Jews is that the Indians were given other land to live on and govern. Jews never were. Jews also only ever had one tribe and one homeland. They aren't multiple different peoples and cultures that all moved around, conquered each other, died off, formed different confederacies, and have different religions. We don't have records that go back thousands of years showing where each individual tribe originated from. We only know where they were when European's found them. So the claims they have on these lands are nowhere near as ironclad as the claim the Jews have on Israel. That being said, if all the tribes wanted to buy back the lands they know their people used to own? More power to them. I'll even say that some of them probably have a casus belli if they ever wanted to wage war against the United States to try and reconquer the lands they used to live in. But here's the thing. A lot of those native lands were legally sold to Europeans. A lot of those lands were ceded in legal treaties between sovereign peoples. It wasn't like what happened with the Jews, where they were conquered and subjugated and driven out of their ancestral lands. So it's nowhere near as easy to say "this is their land, give it back". There are groups that are trying to go through treaties and land deeds and see what land was legally traded or given and what was stolen, but it hasn't been easy to find many instances of outright stolen land.

You know, I talk about my family Cabin on here a lot, but I don't think I've ever actually explained what the Cabin IS. So. Story time. We haven't had a story time in awhile.
This story starts sometime in the early 1900s with my great grandfather losing half his right hand in some sort of logging/mill/mining accident. The stories vary depending who in the family you ask. (He also ran mule trains over the mountains at some point.) But however he lost it, he ended up in the local hotel (which was a facade building, I believe, so just a glorified tent) because there was no hospital. There was also no doctor. Somehow somebody tracked down a nurse somewhere and brought her to the hotel.
BUT!
It was improper for this young woman to be alone with a man, even if she was trying to make him not be dead. The scandal!!!
So that nurse became my great-grandmother. No idea what their actual wedding was like, but I imagine it was rather interesting given they'd only known one another two days and he was still half delirious because of major injury.
Now we'll skip forward a bit. They decide to buy a few acres over in Middle Park/Grand County, and they're gonna start a little ranch up there. They pay some dude for the land and pack up the wagon (yes, wagon, the Colorado mountains didn't get the message that the century had changed until about 30-40 years after it happened). But then they arrived and, on no, they've been lied to! No land is waiting! They managed to get themselves a few acres anyway and went about starting their ranch and having 10+ children, all but one of whom lived to adulthood which was damn impressive. (Also worthwhile to note here that, until sometime in the 1950s, there was only one doctor in the whole county and she was a grumpy old lady who didn't believe in pain meds.)
Their youngest daughter died at 4, I believe from whooping cough, and less than a week later my great-grandfather came in from the fields, said he wasn't feeling well, laid down, and died. So now here's my great-grandmother in the middle of the Rockies in the 1920s with 10+ kids, some of them still under 10. And let me tell you, she kicked ass.
But what does all of this have to do with the Cabin you say? Well, see, those 10+ kids spread out all over the county, buying their own lands and marrying into the other families up there. Then along came the state saying "hey, we want to build a reservoir where your house is, get out." To which my great-grandmother said "fuck you." She said fuck you enough times that the family eventually ended up with 1000+ acres in exchange for moving off their little plot. They literally just picked up the house and moved it about 1/4 mile up the hill, and that original house is still there today.
Now, ever since then the family has sold off some of the land, but we still have a lot of it. The family cattle ranch is still operational as well, now run by one of my second cousins. A couple of my great-uncles also built houses on various parts of the property over the years, which is how we get to the Cabin.
My grandfather, the youngest living child of his parents, eventually moved down to Denver. But he still loved his home in the mountains, and wanted his 10 kids to experience that as well. One of the houses on the family property had fallen into disuse, to the point cows were living in it and having a grand old time. My grandfather decided to fix it up so that he and his kids could have a place to go up there. This was the first Cabin, referred to as Camp Grub. Until his sister-in-law, who technically owned the house with his brother, realized he'd fixed the house and went "oh, how nice of you! Get out, it's mine now."
Thus, the second Cabin came into being. Not wanting to give up on having a place up there, my grandfather found another cabin a few miles away and rented that. It was called the White House because it was. Well. White. This is where my dad and his 9 siblings grew up going all the time. Lots of fond memories of hunting, fishing, and general shenanigans. But then, early in the 90s, the owner of the property didn't renew my grandparent's lease.
This time, my grandparents wanted to get something they OWNED and couldn't be taken from them. They settled on the Cabin, which was again several miles away in a different spot. This third Cabin is the one we still have today, the little A-frame. It was named Moose Camp.
None of his children wanted him to buy an A-frame. Because A-frames are terrible. It could only sleep six people and, at this point, there were a good 20+ family members that wanted to use it. But my grandfather did not care. So we ended up with an A-frame that sits on 60ish acres and, at the time, was on the only tiny little flat spot of the entire 60ish acres.
My dad and his siblings, mostly in their 20s and early 30s at the time, took one look at this and decided nope. Must fix. So they promptly set about hand-digging a basement to add four more bedrooms, and they dug out a huge chunk of the hillside to create a flat spot for the garage and parking. Half the garage is a garage, the other half (separated by a wall) is an outdoor livingroom/dining area. There has been some other odds and ends projects done over the years such as cutting a couple RV parking spots out of the woods, but nothing else major.
Now, this is the Cabin I grew up in and the one we still have. I have spent nearly 30 years of my life going up there almost every weekend. After my parents divorced they started moving at least once a year each so from a very young age I never had a stable home except for the Cabin.
The whole family used it, and you never knew who was coming. It could be just a few people, or twenty. Sometimes people brought friends. Sometimes distant cousins showed up. My cousins and I had the run of the place, and the whole 60 acres. It was a grand old time, and I wouldn't trade it for the world. We all learned to shoot, to hunt, to be safe in the woods. We heard all the family stories, and visited the family that still lived up there. There were always at least two fridges full of food and it was just sort of a free for all of who ate what, didn't really matter who brought it. There were campfires out behind the garage. There were lazy days in the gazebo my dad and his siblings built for their mother from scrap wood.
After my grandparents died, the Cabin was put into a trust so that now all of their kids have an equal share in it. (Except for one, who we do not speak of, because she is not welcome in the family anymore, and another who has died.) Over the years, most of the family has used it less and less. My dad and I are now the ones who use it the most, and do most of the upkeep. I've got an uncle and an aunt (my dad's brother and sister) who come up a fair amount as well, but the uncle is getting a bit too old to really help out with the heavy projects and the aunt...well...she tries.
Other family does still come up, though. Some a handful of times every year, others only once a year or so. They usually find something to complain about (specifically one aunt who is a very my-way-or-the-highway person) or some project they think needs done, and they'll moan about it not getting taken care of, but never do anything about it. They leave and my dad and I continue to tinker with the plumbing, cut firewood for everyone else to use, clean out the fridges, restain the siding, fix the basement when it floods in the spring, plow the road, and everything else that needs done, never really bringing up the fact that we're the only real caretakers left of the place. If the rest of the family does manage to decide to do some sort of project my dad and I usually end up putting it back in order once they're gone, and they never notice.
We still visit the surrounding family, we still hunt, we still explore. But it's quieter now. It'll always be home, though. The only real home I've ever had. According to the rules of the trust, the property has to stay in the Wood family unless every member of the trust agrees to sell, which they'll never do. So it'll be there, in some form, for quite awhile.
(Putting the words Long Post in here so the tumblr filters can hide it even if other people don't tag it as such.)

Deal?
PART 1
Pairing: Eddie x GN!Reader
Summary: You've been struggling with your mental health and you find yourself going over to Eddie's to buy weed in order to escape your problems.
[Part 2]
Warning: Mentions of drug use.
A/N: I hope this is okay! :)
Tumblr media
You didn't know what to do as you looked out your window, staring at Eddie's trailer. You hated this, feeling so down all the time. You wanted something to numb the pain.
And it was sort of common knowledge at school that Eddie sold weed. You thought that maybe it would help. Give you an escape, even if it was only for a short time.
Your hands were trembling as you clutched the cash in your hands. You were going to do it. You just couldn't keep feeling like this anymore. It was Hell.
It didn't take long to get to Eddie's trailer but when you finally reached the door, you suddenly felt sick. You'd never even seen weed before, let alone bought it. And now, you were here.
You took a shaky breath before knocking on the door. And he answered it within seconds.
When he saw you standing there, he shot you a look of confusion. "Hello?"
"Hey, uh...you...you sell weed...right?"
"Yeah..." He trailed off, stepping aside slightly to let you in. "So uh...what the hell are you doing here (y/n)?"
You understood his confusion. You and him were friends once, and well...you weren't exactly the weed smoking type.
"I think it's pretty obvious why I'm here." You told him, laughing nervously.
"Well I can fix you up, but I am definitely surprised."
You didn't say anything as you watched him rummaging through a cupboard.
"So uh...you okay? I haven't seen you in a while." He asked, before turning back around with a bag of weed in his hand.
"Uh...good." You tried to say, your voice coming out a little broken. It had been so long since someone asked you that that it caught you off guard, giving you no time to prepare yourself.
"Look, I'm not gonna tell you what to do or anything...but are you sure you want this? You just...seem a little on edge."
"So uh...how much you want for it?" You asked him, ignoring his question.
"Twenty's good."
"Great." You muttered, sifting through the cash in your hand, before handing him the money.
When he handed you the bag, you suddenly felt the familiar sting of tears behind your eyes. You didn't want to do this, really you didn't. But you didn't see any other option.
"(y/n)." Eddie tried again. "Are you okay? Like, really."
"You can't stop me from using this, I've paid for it now."
"Yeah yeah, I know." He smiled slightly. "I'm not gonna take it back. I just wanna know...are you okay?"
You shrugged. "Doesn't matter."
"Look, my Uncle's gonna be gone all night." He started. "Do you wanna smoke it here? Ya know, so you're not on your own?"
"I don't wanna be any trouble."
"You're not, trust me." He assured you, gesturing for you to sit down on the couch.
You were honestly too tired to argue with him and if you were being completely honest, you just wanted to get high so you could maybe have some relief finally. So you sat down on the couch with him whilst he rolled a few joints for you both.
He handed you one and gave you a light, before lighting his own. You coughed when you took your first drag, which elicited a laugh from Eddie. "Just...pace yourself, okay?"
You nodded as you both fell back into silence. You assumed it would probably take a while to kick in since you weren't feeling anything just yet. But you were hoping it would take effect soon.
"You can talk to me, you know?" Eddie suddenly said, looking over at you. "I won't judge or anything."
"Will this make me feel...happy?" You asked.
"I mean...I think it depends on the person."
It was a couple of minutes before Eddie spoke again. "Are you...not happy?"
"I don't even know what happy feels like anymore."
"Seriously?"
"God, I sound like such an asshole." You scoffed. "I don't even really wanna smoke weed."
"Why did you come here then?"
"I dunno...I just...wanted to not feel like shit for once. And I figured this was the answer." You explained, gesturing to the joint between your fingers.
Before Eddie could respond, you suddenly felt a pressure building in your chest, and then you were unable to stop the sob that wracked through you.
"Shit, sorry." You groaned, burying your face in your hands. "I'm such an asshole."
"No you're not." Eddie sighed before he put an arm around your shoulders, gently pulling you into his side. "You're just having a bad day."
You let out a humourless laugh. "Well lately it feels like all my days are bad."
"Alright, well I know we're not exactly close anymore...but how about whenever you're feeling shitty, you come over here and we can...hang out." He suggested. "Or not? It's your choice."
"Really?"
He shrugged. "Yeah, why not. Just...I can't do Tuesdays 'cause I play with my band on Tuesdays."
"Corroded Coffin?" You asked, the memory of your middle school talent show flashing in your mind.
"You remember that?"
"Well duh." You laughed, rolling your eyes. "I went up there playing my goddamn guitar. Thought I was God's freakin' gift until I actually heard myself."
"Yeah, I gotta admit, that wasn't your best moment."
You both returned to sitting in silence for a moment until Eddie spoke up again.
"You wanna come see us on Tuesday? We play at The Hideout."
"I don't know."
"Just...think about it, okay?"
"Okay."
"So uh, do we have a deal then?" He suddenly asked.
"A deal?"
"Yeah, you come over here when you're feelin' shitty, so you're not home alone trying to smoke pot. Deal?"
You smiled. "Deal."
"Have you thought about comin' to see my band yet?"
"It's been like...ten seconds."
"And?"
"Maybe I'll come see you."
"Great." He grinned. "That's great."

Vollan
Hearts Linked Together character masterpost
Link Vollan is vaguely Swedish. He has never had most of his left arm, which he didn't actually realize was strange for a long time, because he was raised by the dwindling Minish population. He's the cryptid hero mentioned in the Four Swords game that was bundled with Link to the Past once. He came out of the forest, split into four, defeated Vaati, and returned to the forest, never to be seen again. He chose his last name, which means roughly "lives in a meadow."
Vollan has a talent for channeling environmental magic, which is why the Picori Blade turned into the Four Sword when he wielded it. He prefers the company of animals. He's an amazing survivalist, though he is used to a lush kind of coniferous forest. He's very kind but very awkward around people.
Before meeting other Links, he'd assumed he would spend the rest of his life a loner in the woods. After meeting them, he gets a cabin on the edge of town and brings in game sometimes and starts to make friends. He eventually courts and marries a brash redhead with a lot of friends.
His version of splitting into four different versions of himself didn't involve fully realized individuals, just literal pieces of him. He didn't really enjoy the experience, and only splits now if he needs to have a serious emotions talk. It left him with mental scars, and he occasionally hallucinates the feeling of multiple bodies. His nephew takes the Four Sword to the Sanctuary after his death.

Today was the day.
Today was the day. Today was probably the most day of them all.
Link tried to ignore the way his palm sweated as he stared out at the town that stood bustling on the other side of a thin line of trees. There were just so many people, everywhere out there: walking on the dirt roads, talking to friends, tending animals, swinging hammers on glowing metal…
He'd been there before, of course, several times. Perhaps even a dozen. That didn't even count the time that he'd marched in, gotten information about Vaati, and headed out again. That had been terrifying, and an entirely different town. He hadn't been able to bring himself to visit that one again.
This one, however, contained his goal: a very fancy (to him) knife. All of his were old, sharpened too many times, wearing out. He'd seen one on an earlier foray, last year, so he was pretty confident they'd have one.
Hopefully his pouch of rupees would do. He had a lot, after his adventure and all he'd gathered.
Link took a breath, wiped his hand on his tunic, and stepped out toward the nearest building.
One step in front of the other. Dust kicked up under his feet. Were people staring at him? Oh, gods. Did they recognize him? Was his tunic a strange color? It was his arm, wasn't it. Or maybe his eyes. He'd noticed that most people had the same color in both of them.
Could he go back to the forest already?
No. He had a mission. An important one. A knife was the most crucial tool he owned, and it would be so nice to have a new one.
Link found a shop that sold knives fairly quickly. Nice of them to have a picture of a knife above the door. He could read, but it took a bit of effort. He pushed in, startled at the bell, and found the nearest knife on display that didn't have fancy etchings or a hilt inlaid with opal. He hefted it, looked down the spine for straightness, and took it to the counter. It made a nice, heavy clunk. It would do nicely, yes.
The man there, heavy with a mustache, leaned forward on his elbows. His caterpillar eyebrows rose quite high. "You want to buy that?"
Link nodded. Then, remembering his manners, added, "Y-yes, sir." His stutter came out to play, with how hard he was trying to look normal. Great.
The man eyed him, the patches on his tunic, and the green needles in his hair. Oh, whoops.
Link combed those out. "I-I-I can pay." His hand hovered over the pouch at his waist, a magical one with all of his things in it. He'd be prepared no matter what happened. As he'd been taught, though, he didn't reveal how much he had.
The man picked up the knife. "A hundred and three rupees for this one. It's quite the knife."
A hundred and three? Oh, Link had that easily. He didn't feel up to haggling today. He dug into his pouch, pulled out the requisite amount in a total of five cut gems, and handed them over.
Although the man had to think that Link was strange, he sold the knife. Link managed a smile and a thank you, but not a goodbye. He wrapped the knife in the bit of leather he'd saved and tucked it away.
Just before Link exited the shop, a feeling deep in his gut called out to him. He paused, getting a read on it. Natural and yet unnatural, the feeling urged him to turn the handle of the door. It wasn't malicious, at least. Link hesitated one more moment.
The shop bell rang again as he stepped out into mist.

Just had the coolest Sky dream, and I've never been so mad to wake up and realize something wasn't real
TGC did some sort of mini-season that involved finding some pots and pans and such scattered around ruined places in the the realms. At the end of it, the spirit we were helping, with her kid, memory-led us through a hidden river cave in Prairie, filled with tiny jellyfish and little glowing sea slugs on the walls in places. At the end was a big cave grotto, with natural stone pillars and small stones in the water to jump across. There were ledges to rest on the walls to rest on and a larger stone in the water had a spot you could sit down and kick your feet in the water. The water was deep enough to dive in and filled with tiny glowing minnows and a few axolotls
Anyway, this spirit was now a permanent fixture in the game! There was a little restaurant carved into a corner of the cave, which the name was in Sky script but I think some quest had called it the Hidden Diamond or something. I think at certain times, other game spirits would hang out and sit at the counter like they do at the trees. You could sit up there too if you wanted!
This spirit, first of all, sold her outfit. Which was really cool. It was sunset orange and purple, with gold accents. Not just the cape, the whole outfit! There was a cape, pants, hair with golden accessories in it, and you could also get a pendant and earrings from her. She had a usable accessory that was a cast frying pan
But the big draw was that she introduced and sold things for a fun new mechanic! You could trade her unwanted spells (each having a set value in her currency), and she'd offer cooking ingredients. It unlocked a new tab, similar to the spells one, that held your ingredients—normally you'd have to be at a designated cooking spot or ruins to do this, but the frying pan I guess let you cook meals for yourself and friends almost anywhere. It was also kinda neat because the ingredients gave us a bit of incidental lore about plant life and such in the world of Sky—glowberries, luminous mushrooms, skysugar cane, glowmatoes, bird eggs, etc. Some you could also find in certain places in the realms occasionally
Some ingredients were base ingredients like tomatoes and bread and such. Others, like herbs and garnishes, provided certain special effects... kind of like a spell. Stuff like 'constantly, slowly recharges light energy slowly', 'slows light loss due to darkness', 'increases your luminescence'. You could cook meals with them, or sometimes leave them out just to make a fun snack for friends without using your effects up
I think it mightve been like Breath of the Wild where they didn't give you a recipe book, but when you opened your cooking menu in the pan item it would show you the recipes you had the ingredients for highlighted, with others grayed out. I think the recipes were like music sheets where future spirits and events could offer them, but you could buy some starters from the cooking spirit (her restaurant menu I think) and find some in places where spirits used to eat. They all had a very Sky feel to them, like lavender tea bread, prairie salad, soups, breads of various kinds, etc.
Idk, how useful it was but I found it a lot of fun! Kind of satisfied the urge to have food with your online friends bc your skykids would all sit around eating and being cozy. You had a lil prompt to take a bite/sip/piece :)

Rant over footy twt. It's long and boring, feel free to skip this lol
Why do we have to be so freaking reactionary? I held my tongue over this, for my own sanity. I try to not get too worked up over football, but just can't anymore lol.
In a spawn of like 3 months, we went from this, just over our midfield players:
- Dominik has a great start, runs the show with 10 men down multiple times, has two beautiful goals, literally runs the most and the fastest, takes on the workload of 2 players, covers for Trent, performs well in a new role, despite being a natural 10, despite being new in the PL-> he is the next Gerrard, the signing of the summer, the best midfielder in the PL, our own KDB regent -> his incredible form drops slightly a bit, but he still performs decent, and does his magic in Hungary -> why can't he show up in Liverpool the way he does in Hungary, he is actually shit, he is not creative, he doesn't have any G/A, didn't worth the money we paid for him, should be benched, all he does is looking into the cameras he is a narc and a flop, he can't even take a free-kick -> gets moved forward for like 10 minutes, does well in attacking role (wonder why) manages to score -> now people are saying he should play LW, bench Lucho and put Dominik there, he is a better finisher than Nunez (..) and saying Cody (!!!) should play his role in midfield instead, because he is just soooo good in the attack.
- Alexis has a bit challenged start in a completely new role, doesn't hit the ground running at first like Dominik does, but still provides very decent stats -> therefore he is a flop, absolutely shit, should be sold and get out of the club, he is not a natural 6, never will be, but Dom, Grav, Elliott and even Trent starts over him as an 8, he was an absolute waste of money just because he is a "wc winner" -> scores a beautiful goal, suddenly he is the best midfielder in our team, he is clear of Caicedo, he should start every game and look at his stats, despite not being a natural 6 he is actually a very good DM, we don't even need to buy one in January, Mac10 will carry us. -> finally plays in his position, but has a game where he comes down with an injury, plays +60 minutes despite that, performs well, but nothing too flashy. Literally gets bullied and attacked every second he plays, as if the other players are trying to take him out -> Endo is clear of him in DM, but he is not good enough in the 8 position, bench him, he's too short anyway.
- Gravenberch is an unnecessary signing, he must be bad, we don't need him, who cares -> has a couple of good performances in the EL -> he is so good, so silky on the ball, he never does backward passes unlike our other midfielders, he should start in the PL -> he starts in the PL, has a good first half, he is our best signing this year, he is so much better than Szoboszlai or Macallister, he starts over Curtis Jones,he only passes forward, that's what we like to see, he is going to be our best midfielder since Gerrard -> makes a mistake, has a less impressive second half in the SAME match, he is actually so shit, someone sub him off and bench him, CuJo is so clear of him, we should have never bought him, he is so lazy, he doesn't track back or tries to defend, sell him.
- Curtis Jones is going to be a Liverpool legend, his control on and off the ball is amazing, he is the missing piece to our midfield, he is finally getting the recognition he deserves -> gets a red card, misses 3 matches then picks up an injury, out for a couple of weeks -> has his first match back after missing out many games against City, doesn't drop a world class performance and dribbles past Rodri, he is so washed, he should be playing for Blackburn not Liverpool, English tax, Scouse tax, Gravenberch should start over him, Curtis is slow, ruins our attacks, at least Gravenberch tries to go forward, all Curtis does is just slow down the ball -> actually nevermind, Gravenberch had a shitty second half, Curtis is so clear of him, he actually puts in the work and tries, he never stops fighting, he lives and breaths liverpool fc, he has insane control on the ball and creates harmony in our midfield, he should start
Rant over. 🫣

The Unwanted Gift - Fitting the Outcast
Things had taken a turn for the worse. For a year I had been watching over a pawn shop I had been sold to, waiting high up on a shelf and even praying for a guy to buy me. I wanted purpose. I wanted to be saved from this pathetic existence.
I have come to terms with who I am, merely a vessel for size 14 feet. I know without a man's feet, I am useless. I have also made peace with the fact this whole situation was my fault, misplacing trust in a man who gladly took my money.
Never expecting to see this cash master again, after he offloaded me to this pawn shop a year ago, I was surprised to see him wall through the door. He had another pair of kicks, ones I am sure were living. The same excuse was given - they were the wrong color. He said the same of me.
I gave him everything. He ignored my plight and managed to make money off me one more time because I disappointed him.
Fucked up, really. But giving up my humanity left me at his mercy. And now, at the mercy of the pawn shop owner. With a new pair of size 14 kicks, I was removed from the display and thrown in the back. I guess spending a year not being sold wasn't good for business.
Again, fucked up. But the owner didn't know better. As far as he was concerned, I was nothing more than a pair of shoes. He didn't know I was living.
What worried me was I knew what might happen now that my worth had been doubted. Often, clothing that didn't sell met their end in the trash or were simply burned. Both options made me shutter... at least if I could shutter, I would have.
When all hope was lost, the pawn shop owner walked into the back room and picked me up. I thought it was time. Rather, he brought me to the front counter and dropped me before a large man.
"If you like them, they're 10 bucks even. I just need them gone," the pawn shop owner said.
The hulking man looked down at my two shoe bodies and smiled, "These are so unique. If they fit, I'll take them."
Was this my lifeline? I hoped it was. This man wasn't a looker by any means. If anything, he reminded me of... well, me. An outcast. Someone who didn't fit in. A man who didn't belong.
To a degree, it was like looking in a mirror. I couldn't be handsome like the cash master that destroyed my life. But as a pair of shoes, I could become beautiful. Though, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. That fucker didn't like me but maybe this man would be different.
His large hand hooked the heels of my existence, effortlessly lifting me into the air. I hung by his hip as he walked over to a chair. Upon sitting down, he gently placed me on the floor next to his big feet.
The hightops on both sides of me had seen better days. Scuffs and scratches covered nearly every surface. A masculine smell escaped from inside. These things had been through hell.
The large man kicked both shoes off, unleashing the full extent of his smell, "I hope you last at least five years like these. My daily kicks need to be retired."
Without ceremony, I watched his right foot jam itself into my body. It forced me to conform to his desires, which I happily agreed to, even if it hurt a bit. The sweaty black socked foot locked itself inside me, the wide appendage pushing my sides out. The flat sole hammered the slight arch my insole had.
Then came the left foot.
With the manly rank feet inside me, my laces were tied up and soon he was standing. The weight of the world had rested upon me. It was the first time supporting a man. Agony best describes what I was feeling. His body demanded obedience and I would offer it no matter the cost.
His toes wiggled inside me before he rocked back and forth. A few jarring stomps elicited a satisfied grunt. He walked up to the counter and pulled out a 10 dollar bill, then dropped it on the surface.
"I found my new shoes," he said, nodding at the owner and turning away.
My treads squealed against the floor, torqued painfully in the process. At times I screamed internally but he would never know and his feet certainly didn't care. He strolled up to his old shoes and picked them up. Once outside, he tossed them in the trash and proceeded towards his beat up truck.
That old pair of shoes served its purpose. And now that need shifted to me. Every fiber of my being would be necessary to accommodate this large man. But I couldn't be happier.
Finally, I had my purpose once again...

Ofcourse Dday may have surprised FACE. How can JM stans buy album anyways? They are not restocking albums. Many fans especially Chinese fans haven't received their pre ordered albums YET, the reason why FACE haven't reached 2 M yet. Hybe can ship their 4 M albums for seventeen on the same day of release but not Jimin's albums.
But streaming Jimin is leading thanks to his fans who always got his back. LC is most sold song, LC still has decent streams in US, LC is still in spotify top 50, Angel is still in US spotify. While others ? Nowhere to be seen. Only if his albums where restocked/shipped on time he'll be 2M+ seller by now
I didn't wanna bring this up because the way this company has been doing Jimin dirty during this whole thing. It just makes me sad anon. It makes me want to cry because this man deserves so much better. From day one there seems to be some sort of fuckery surrounding Jimin. From being threatened to be kicked out everyday till he had to call his dad and tell him not to be disappointed if he doesn't make it, to him being told to tone down his grateness during run bts. From staff ignoring him when he raises his hand to all the things that have happened regarding FACE. Sometimes I wonder why he stays.
Tumblr media
Like I mentioned before. If being ot7 is what he prefers then I hope he does like that one girl from Mamamoo who only uses her former company for group projects but works with outsiders for her solo projects. I think that's what Jimin should do
But we dk what goes on behind the scenes and he's the only one who can make the right decision so... 🤷🏽‍♀️ Let's just keep doing our best like we've been doing.
