Well, I've watched the scene again and, what if Will did not get that Mike intended to broke up with el

and then Will looks shocked, confused, like he wasn't expecting Mike to say something like this, he literally throw the ROMANTICISM out of the van with that line.

I personally don't think that if he loved El in a romantic way he would say that.

Maybe he was expecting Will just to tell him that it was fine if El didn't need him anymore.

Because, if it's not like that, I don't understand why Mike nodded when Will said

"What if they don't like the truth?"

Plus, during the pizza scene, I think he was going to be honest to El, telling her he didn't want to fight, and just stay by her side, maybe as a friend. He looked annoyed when Argyle called him Romeo, and yeah, he was interrupting their convo but, dunno, maybe he was annoyed for something more than one reason.
