Growing up is realising that Sofia was just an 8 year old girl who had too many responsibilities and was pressured by adults to save her new family and a kingdom and realm she now has to take care of and protect and people have high expectations of her, and that she was never given any real time to grieve her missing (most likely dead) father who only passed away like a year before her mother's remarriage and she is a child with trauma and doesn't want to bother people with it or tell anyone her secrets because they might put her in danger. She is a prodigy in just about everything she tries and isn't used to the idea of failling or not getting the hang of things quickly.

Sofia is also constantly betting her own life or being forced to negotiate the lives of her family since she was 8. She was betrayed by 4 adults, 3 of which were her teachers and and 3 of them are redeemed. She watched two people be murdered and a man waste his life away. Her brother being distressed and angry because he wasted his childhood preparing for a position he was never going to get because their grandmother and aunt lied. She watched the reason the twins were born and the queen was killed. Has been trapped in the middle of no where multiple times. Her sister stole her amulet. She saved the world multiple times. And her friends were toxic to her for being better than them at a game and trying to help a girl out. Was tricked by Cedric into cursing the entire kingdom to sleep. Is very protective and suspicious to anyone who even looks at the Amulet. Was given a position that constantly puts her life in danger and told to protect an entire realm filled with like 50 kingdoms. Must watch or read peoples lives no matter how gory in order to give them an ending weather it's sad or happy as long as it's an ending. Is blamed if things go wrong because of an adult. Isn't believed even if she's right. And none of the adults listen to her and always underestimate her.

This child needs a hug, therapy, sleep, and should just go play Dazzle all, Flyer Derby, or Ice dancing, go back to the Buttercup scouts, do her homework, practice magic, and play with her animals.

I love reimagining Sofia the First episodes where Elena is inside the Amulet of Avalor from her perspective. You’re a sixteen-year-old heir to the throne trapped in a gemstone as a disembodied spirit with murdered parents, living family still in danger, a colonized country in need of liberation and untreated PTSD who nobody around you even knows exist. This has been your life for thirty-nine years by the time you finally find someone who might have the potential to free you. But first, you have to help her grow as a person. And all of these shenanigans keep happening. What was she thinking the whole time?

Sofia: (boasting to her friends about getting to sing the Enchancian anthem)

Elena: Oh my God, shut up. You sound like Esteban, and not in a good way.

Elena, a teenager and older sibling who hasn’t had the chance to tease anyone in roughly four decades: So… you’re expected to sing in front of a huge crowd tomorrow? Would be a shame. If something were to. Happen.

Elena: You fucking brat! How dare you take advantage of your own sister’s trust after she’s been nothing but kind to you? Don’t you know how lucky you are? I would do anything to be able to just see my little sister again, talk to her, hug her, know that she’s safe and okay, let alone make her happy myself. You have so much, but you’re too spoiled rotten to appreciate it. You mistreat your family? Fine. Let’s see how you like them being threatened by an evil sorceress trying to take over your kingdom! ‘Cause trust me, it isn’t fun. Learn to be selfless or lose everything you’ve ever had! A BITCH FOR A BITCH!

Elena, who’s been onto him since day one, but feels completely unthreatened: You could be coveting any source of powerful magic, but no, you want the only one that you already know has a moral compass and will curse you for doing wrong. Genuine question: what are you doing with your life? I’m just gonna give you literal sticky fingers, and I’ll revoke that if you’re nice. You obviously don’t need much help to fail.

Rewatching your childhood shows can be so fun, and extremely funny at times.

Like Sofia the First, it was really fun watching at the first time but then you got to “Olaf and the Tale of Miss Nettle” without any context and thought it was either okay or annoying at the first time watching it.

But watching the episode again with context of Elena of Avalor makes the episode extremely funny.

Some self indulgent stuff I did for Sofia the First x) As it’s we’re I’ve gotten a lot of my wider Disneyverse info for the world the Disney Princesses live in. The ultimate Big Bad in it is a sorceress called Vor who was the very first villain in the EverRealm world. How I’ve interpreted that is that she was originally a prehistoric shaman named Vár, who became the first to discover how to access Dark Magic,selling her soul to Chernabog (gotta get those crossovers) and changing her name to Vor when she began turning into a demon herself. She would later give birth to the Demon Voland (the villain in my Frozen 3 idea, who may also have been The Slave in the Magic Mirror), and the sorceress Zhan Tiri from the Tangled show would have studied her to learn how to ascend (descend?) into demon hood as well.

(Vár and Vor are both names connected to an old Norse goddess connected with oaths and agreements which I thought fit well with the context of her backstory)

I also did a doodle of Sofia’s aunt Tilly when she’s younger, who it’s revealed holds the special occupation of being the Storykeeper of the EverRealm, working behind the scenes to help insure people’s stories bed happily. I’ve got some ideas for the backstory of how the Storykeeper’s started and how they’re connected to Enchancia, as well as an idea for a All Main Disney Princess Crossover adventure that happened with young Tilly but still building that. But keep an eye out for those 👍

Hey. Did you know that some people had wished an Elena of Avalor episode that is like an Avatar: The Last Airbender episode The Tales of Ba Sing Se? It would have been great that the EoA had an episode like that (divided into chapters focusing on one or two main characters). I'm not asking you to make a fic based on what I said, but imagine something like this. There can be Elena, Isabel, Esteban, Naomi, Mateo and... GABE. Think about this, okay? Take care.

"Stuck in that amulet": From artifact to Crown Princess [Part 3]

Coming back to the amulet, it bestows power on those who wear it, it stores magic, but cannot be a weapon. Even more significant is the fact that if the amulet had been destroyed before Sofia had freed Elena, she would have died! The amulet also can curse those who do bad deeds. Reportedly, it is famous among those who practice magic in the interconnected world of Elena of Avalor and Sofia the First. It has a bit of a provenance as well, specifically created in the Kingdom of Maru (akin to the Aztecs or Mayans perhaps), an ancient civilization that disappeared before the Kingdom of Avalor came about.

Unlike the magical mirror in Steven Universe, the amulet more directly fulfills the definition of an artifact in the Dictionary of Archives Terminology: "a physical object that is made or modified by human culture." More than that, the amulet is something tangible, as it obviously has "significant depth relative to its height and width", i.e., an object. It is not, however, a specimen nor a resource or an item. Hence, there are specific ways to preserve it and ensure it is not damaged. Over its history, it was passed down through royals until it reached Sofia, becoming her birthday present, and Elena even let her keep it as a sign of gratitude for saving her from the amulet.

Some have claimed that certain amulets have a "soul" or internal energy, noting that it is "important what material the amulet is made of, what kind of stones it is incrusted with" along with what signs and symbols. [4] Historically, the Egyptians believed that amulets would protect a mummified person after death. Others have stated that amulets, and talismans, were the "ultimate power players" in the ancient world, by "summoning protection". The amulet I'm discussing in this article is a fire opal, and originally red, becoming purple when she wore it. The word opal, itself, comes from the Latin words "opalus" or "opalius" in Greek, meaning precious stone, while a fire opal is named after fire, meaning a "fiery spirit and energy". It has also been associated with good luck, love, healing, calm, wealth, creativity, and amplifying feelings, depending on the culture. Compare this to a purple opal which seems to "increase...one’s mental capacity as a whole", while opals can also be "highly favored as a symbol of hope and purity". [5]

Otherwise, There isn't much else to say because the amulet doesn't really have much of a role in the show proper (Elena of Avalor) other than giving her magical powers, allowing to use the Scepter of Light, first shown in the episode "Scepter of Light". The scepter allows her to channel the magical powers given to her by being in the amulet. So, that's a positive from being stuck in an amulet for over 40 years! If her amulet had been stored usually, it would be in a special collections. Anyway, as always, comments and suggestions are welcome.

I stay up at night thinking about how Sofia was 9 years old and watched a couple get murdered, a man waste away his life and have to leave his family, and watch a kingdom be ruled under tyranny all because of the same woman.

Than she has to go to the one place in the world where said woman would have the most political power, and have to be in the same room as her while the rest of her Family thinks she's just an innocent woman.

Sofia manipulated her family into going to Avalor under the guise of a summer vacation. The woman than captured her family and threatened to kill a sixteen year old.

Inspired by the Disney Princess villain song series by Lydia the Bard, here’s my idea for Princess Sofia’s own dark version of a Sofia the First song and the backstory and animatic script accompanying it. There are mentioned dead bodies and a little blood. I’ve really tried to keep her in-character, despite the very different circumstances and tone. She’s more of an anti-villain here.

I’d love to hear feedback on this and talk to other fans, of Sofia or Lydia.
