Aqua plans to die.
And his death will be necessary to take Kamiki down.
While the full details of Aqua’s revenge plan isn’t entirely clear to all of us yet, his intention to place himself in danger as he tries to take Kamiki down is a very clear, and very crucial part of the plot that he anticipates.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Before we can dive into how Aqua is going to achieve his revenge, we need to back up a little bit and understand who he is as a person, how he makes decisions, and what he personally wants.
What is Aqua’s Goal?
From a top-level view, Aqua has a singular emotional goal:
Aqua wishes to take responsibility for the deaths of his mothers.
Aqua/Gorou absolutely believes that after two lives of the same thing, that he was the common denominator. He was the fault his mothers both died, because he was useless and helpless. Had he never been conceived, and more crucially, if his mothers did not have to lie about his existence, they would have both stayed alive. If Gorou’s mom didn’t have to conceal the pregnancy from her parents, or did not have one at all, she would have lived a long life. He believes that perhaps his second chance at life was to save Ai, but he was paralyzed and helpless during her murder. He blames himself for Ai’s death too.
This is a driving force in Aqua’s character, and informs all of his decision making, even to the detriment of his own plans most times. It leads us to his supplementary goal:
Aqua wants to keep the people he loves safe.
Whether it was shielding Ruby from entertainment or making sure she’s in a safe agency with good group members, or Akane not going too far in enacting his revenge plot for him, or Kana from steering clear of a career-ending love scandal, Aqua’s key traumas has led him to feel compelled to take action and do whatever it takes to save people if he had the power to do so.
Here is a breakdown of Aqua’s plans, and some key questions we have to ask about each one.
1. Why make a movie called The 15-Year Lie? And what is “Ai’s true wish”?
I have reason to believe that Ai’s DVD for Aqua would have either been a message about wishing to be loved truly and be hated with full honesty for the person she really was, that she wanted her actual self to be revealed to people. In line with that, I think Aqua’s DVD included Gotanda’s original documentary for the B-Komachi dome event. Which is why Gotanda tried to defend Aqua's decision to reveal her secret in chapter 112, and why in chapter 108 Gotanda says about the script that “this is finally my time to fulfill that promise.”
Tumblr media
2. What does he mean by “using Arima Kana”?
There were theories circulating that the person who texted Frill Shiranui could have been Aqua, trying to get her to encourage Ruby to play the role of Ai in the film. However, that couldn’t be any farther from the truth. As we know, Aqua was saying that Gotanda should “grow up” and understand that the most important thing for a movie is to succeed commercially first before we talk about artistic value.
Tumblr media
If Aqua had full control over the situation, he would have just straight up casted Akane. After all, that was what he initially proposed, and even contacted her for it despite saying he’ll never have anything to do with her again. What he needed, more than anything, was for the film to succeed commercially. And with the headlining actress no longer (a) the most famous celebrity of their generation, or (b) the heralded genius of their generation, Aqua has no other options.
Except: Arima Kana.
Tumblr media
I think the aspect of him using her or manipulating her is mainly to encourage her publicity activities. He’ll be encouraging her to do well in her work to garner more star power for the movie to really be a success, and for her to help his sister be the perfect lead for the show. He’s also going to bank on the idea that Kana will do things for him because she has a crush on him, which he only realized in Chapter 102 after Mem-cho points it out, that he can pursuade Kana to get out of the way of his revenge plot if necessary to keep her safe or place her in the spotlight to attract people’s attention for the movie.
While unlikely, he might even encourage her to stay on a little longer until Ruby gets to the Dome performance.
Or, and maybe this is my shipping delulu talking, but it can also be that he’ll try to just be around her frequently to garner media attention about their relationship. In this way, keeping her close without actually dating her could serve a dual purpose: get people talking about them and the movie, but also make sure that Kana stays safe and nobody makes a rumor of pairing her up with anybody else.
Lastly, also not super likely but another option could be to convince her to headline the show, and play Ai in Ruby’s stead.
3. Why does Kaburagi say that the film is bordering on illegal?
This is a truly crucial piece to unveiling Aqua’s plot. We know Kaburagi likes producing shows that include good-looking young people, and that seems to be his main strategy for raking in young audiences and cashing out.
So why would he have hesitated, even for a second, on a plan to cast the top talent of this young generation, on the biggest news Japan has been talking about, handed to him by a first-hand source--the son of Ai himself?
Tumblr media
On all accounts, this would have been the perfect formula for a smash success. So why would Kaburagi say things like, “do you have enough evidence”, when everybody already knew about the University student stalker that murdered her? What was so controversial?
Unless, when they said Aqua will play the culprit, they didn’t mean the Ryosuke.
Tumblr media
They meant he was playing Hikaru Kamiki.
Here’s what we know about the film, and what I think Aqua is trying to do:
1. Portray Kamiki in the worst possible way and destroy his reputation.
The 15-Year Lie will be a biopic about Ai’s life from when she was starting out as an idol.  Ai will be portrayed as a poor girl abandoned by her parents, searching for the true meaning of love. We know that this framing will be part of Ai’s characterization because of the scenes where Ruby struggled the most:
Tumblr media
In the search for love, they will show her falling for a young man and talented actor at Theatre Lalalai--that being Hikaru Kamiki. Once he gets Ai pregnant, he abandons her, and she runs off to the countryside to hide from the press. When Ai asked him to come visit her, Kamiki, in wanting to protect his career, attempted to send out a stalker. A few years later, seeing his kids wotagei on social media, he manages to find them again and kill Ai.
Tumblr media
It is a complete and utter character assasination of Hikaru Kamiki, and while revealing Ai as a flawed person, draws for the sympathy of the viewers to love Ai for who she truly is. Which is exactly why Gotanda keeps insisting for Ruby to play the role, even when Aqua and Kaburagi have sensible recommendations for Akane and Frill.
Tumblr media
At that moment, when Ai dies, Aqua will reveal his face, and openly declare that it was his father who orchestrated it all. Then he might even portray his father murdering Ryosuke himself, instead of the suicide that was reported in the media.
Tumblr media
2. Aqua will use himself to bait his father out, and force Kamiki’s hand to kill Aqua.
The main reason why Aqua finds it necessary for the film to be a commercial success is because he needs the general public to be one hundred percent in agreement that Hikaru Kamiki is an evil man that deserves to be jailed. (Whether or not he reveals his name in the film, which he could but doesn’t need to.) This public lynching is his first control.
But here’s the thing: Kamiki didn’t directly murder Himekawa Airi and Hoshino Ai himself. At this point in time, Aqua is not aware of Katayose Yura’s murder either. And there is no evidence that connects Uehara Seijirou and Ryosuke’s suicides as murders by Kamiki’s hands.
And on top of all that, when these things happened, Kamiki was fully a minor.
Tumblr media
Akane’s fears and interpretation was that Aqua would murder his own father because it’s the only form of revenge he could enact himself.
But she’s wrong, there’s one more thing Aqua could do: make Kamiki commit murder again. If he kills Aqua, there will now be a murder that the public agrees without a doubt was done by Kamiki himself.
He can go to jail once and for all, or he can also get stabbed by an angry fan--Aqua doesn’t care. All he cares about is that it’s a sure win, and it’s over forever. He launches his sister’s career into the spotlight, he keeps everybody safe, and he atones for the death of his mothers with his own life.
In summary: Aqua plans to get killed by his father, so that an actual murder has occurred for which he could be jailed or publicly ostracized or even killed.
And here’s why I think Aqua will fail:
Aqua’s assumptions about his father are incorrect.
He believes that Kamiki’s reason for killing Ai was because her pregnancy would ruin his reputation and career as a rising actor. That’s why Aqua tries to hit him there. And he believes defaming him might provoke him to get killed.
But I don’t think Kamiki cared about his reputation at all anymore. He left his career as an actor behind after Kindaichi kicked him out of Lalalai, and went on to graduate from Faculty of Science. He never went back in front of the spotlight, instead opening a talent agency around the exact time he believed his kids might be joining the industry.
I have reason to believe that Kamiki thinks murdering Airi and Ai was to protect his children or some other great act of justice against his rapist(s). And that even killing Katayose Yura was done because he didn’t want a liar like her to take the spotlight that was supposedly for his daughter Ruby.
I don’t think Kamiki will harm Aqua.
But I do think he will come forward and expose himself and his twisted justification, and he might even openly give interviews to the media.
Instead, I do believe Kamiki might pay attention to Kana’s honest acting--something he’s never seen before in a person, and try to get close to her somehow. And if Kamiki’s name is not revealed, and if the theories are true that Frill works for Kamiki’s agency, he might recruit Kana to join him.
All this is to say, get Kana out of this manga. Somebody, please save her.

Has Chireikiden changed your impression of Flandre? More/less sane, more/less violent, etc?
(Happy Flanday.)
Since 17.5 came out during CDS, it's hard to fully separate its influence from CDS's. So I won't.
My impression before was (in my opinion) mostly in line with EoSD and BAiJR, i.e. her only real appearances, where she's mostly a snarky and somewhat ominous brat. I believed, and guess I still do, that the fan idea of her violent nature was more or less entirely based on her EoSD profile, while her actual appearances made her seem a lot more level-headed. I vaguely enjoyed that depiction, but there wasn't too much to say about her, except to protest when fanon was mistaken for canon. I tended to have a negative kneejerk reaction to either doujins or discussions involving her simply due to overexposure/how tiresome much of that fanon was. On average, though, I considered newer Flan doujins a lot better than old ones.
CDS and 17.5 have made her swing a lot harder both ways. She's proven to be pretty prone to wanton explosions and violence after all, but neither in the "innocent baby who doesn't understand" way nor some omnicidal maniac way; she's fully aware of how strong she is, and enjoys getting excuses to fight and blow stuff up, but is fully in control of herself and doesn't just do it at random. She can be pretty eloquent or even suave, yet that doesn't stop her from doing something completely unhinged right after with the exact same smile. While I think she's "sane", she's also thoroughly unserious. Pretty fun archetype, honestly.
I can't help but think that unless I've completely missed something in the older works, either ZUN or the other people involved with CDS and 17.5 ended up adjusting Flan's characterization to be somewhat closer to the fan version. We know ZUN hadn't really thought about Flandre for a long time and kinda dug her back up recently. But I don't mind the end result. (If there's one bit I choose to ignore in my head, it's her casual cruelty towards Meiling, because Meiling being Flandre's "Sakuya" and favorite person is one of my favorite completely unfounded fan concepts involving them.)
Somehow manages to be chuunibyou even in the context of how strong she actually is. Guess it runs in the family.
Very sweet of her to at least explore the option of not destroying Marisa. Not enough to actually stop, though.

Why is it only called LARPing when Fischl does it? Why hasn't Cyno been slapped with the closeted chuunibyou allegations yet? Why hasn't Diluc? Dare I say, why hasn't Childe?
And while I'm here, I might as well pull Eula into this too. Maybe Rosaria because as if she's actually a nun where it counts. Kujou Sara is already one in my mind, but everyone's written it off by attributing it to a strong sense of justice and her upright morals.
"But Narky, they have to be delusional as fuck!"
And to that I say: They absolutely are.

The contemporary crisis that Arthur Lounsbery felt in Fuuta's first trial song 'Jihen Joutou’ ――『MILGRAM -ミルグラム-』 Music Interview|’Jihen Jotou’
Tumblr media
════ ✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧ •✦• ✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧ ════
Translator Notes:
Oh boy, this is a long one, I am suffering. Let’s tackle the phrase “contemporary crisis.”
Contemporary Crisis refers to a sense of crisis or danger that is relevant to modern times or contemporary society. It suggests that the crisis being discussed is not just a historical or abstract issue, but something that is pressing and urgent in the present. In the context of the MILGRAM music interview, it implies that the song "Jihen Joutou" captures some of the concerns and anxieties that people may feel in the current social and political climate.
Not only that, let’s go with the song name ‘Jihen Jotou.’ Jihen Jotou doesn’t have an English equivalent and the answers forward in the interview require so much context about the title. The words "jihen" (事変) can be translated as "incident" or "crisis." While "joutou" (上等) can be translated as "first-class" or "top-notch." So a possible interpretation of the title could be "First-class incident", "Top-notch crisis." or “Catastrophe.”
But "joutou" (上等) can also be translated as “Bring it On!” However, it’s rare for it to have this context. If we replace Jotou with this in mind, an alternative title would be "Incite the Incident."
BUT that’s not as catchy as Bring it On and doesn’t have enough allusions to fire. So here are some alternative titles that would’ve worked as well!
Spark the Frenzy / Spark the Crisis (Chuunibyou route) Fuel the Frenzy Ignite the Catastrophe (Chuunibyou route)
In the end, they went with “Bring it On!” It’s not a bad alternative title, but I feel that a lot of context was removed because of it.
════ ✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧ •✦• ✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧ ════
DECO*27, a leading creator among Vocaloid artists, and Takuya Yamanaka, known for his style of exploring human psychology, have launched a collaborative music video project called "MILGRAM - ミルグラム -". The project features a joint original story and production, and the music video - which is crucial to uncovering the prisoners' crimes - has now been released.
CONTEMPORARY FEELING EXPRESSED IN THE LYRICS
════ ✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧ •✦• ✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧ ════
―― Fuuta's first official music release titled, 'Jihen Joutou' has finally been made public. Could you share your initial thoughts or impressions about the song's title?"
Fuuta’s Actor: Arthur Lounsbery (Arthur hereafter): If an incident really happened, wouldn't it be a huge deal? Yet the phrase 'Jihen Joutou' is a powerful expression, isn't it? (laughs) Fuuta himself is a timid person, so how can he say that an incident is first-class...? I wondered what that could possibly mean.
Tumblr media
―― Could you share any specific lyrics from the song that resonated with you given that the song carries a powerful message? Were there any particular lines that stood out or left a strong impression on you?
Arthur: I was also struggling with how to sing it, but phrases like "Words leave bruises like a whip," "Hunt down the liars," and "Justice is at your fingertips." are very contemporary. They make you think about a lot of things and the lyrics are impressive and memorable.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
IT'S LIKE HE'S SAYING THIS TO FUUTA HIMSELF
════ ✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧ •✦• ✧⋄⋆⋅⋆⋄✧ ════
―― Do you have any specific points or aspects that you focused on or paid particular attention to when singing?
Arthur: Each song has a strong message with their sins hidden in the lyrics. While the quality of the singing is important, I focused on conveying Fuuta's emotions as much as possible.
As for what I was particular about, there's a shout in the last chorus. I wanted the phrase after the shout to feel like it was directed towards Fuuta himself. So if anyone who listens to the entire song can pick up on something about Fuuta as a person, I would be happy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
――When you first saw the lyrics or after finishing singing, did your impression of the character Fuuta change?
Arthur: There wasn't a significant change in my impression, but I felt this indescribable feeling that can’t be put into words. Fuuta is a very contemporary character, and anyone could be him or already is him. Perhaps my impression of Fuuta may have shifted, as I felt a sense of familiarity with him - for better or for worse.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
――Despite the fact that the outcome of MILGRAM -ミルグラム- is influenced by viewer votes, can you share your enthusiasm for the next song?
Arthur: Although the number of recordings for MILGRAM’s content itself is still small, I have a strong attachment to Fuuta because of his strong individuality and message. He is a very difficult character for me, “I hate him but I love him,” so I am really happy to be able to sing his heart's cry again in the next season.
What is MILGRAM...? There are still many things I don't know. I want to continue to explore and/or discuss it together with everyone (the fans) and to have fun! Please look forward to it in the future!
――Thank you very much.

The first timeline's Homura Akemi wished for true friends, and got Madoka, Mami and Kyoko (the wish didn't pull in Sayaka, because those two don't get along in any universe), plus a functioning heart and eyes into the bargain. Her wish magic let her share her friends' magic with one another, and so she became something like a leader to the Holy Trio, supplementing Mami's firepower and Kyouko's mobility by letting them borrow each others' tricks, and helping them to reconcile with one another. She was also an enormous, embarrassing chuunibyou who helped Mami name all her attacks (including the combined-powers fusion technique L'ultimo Balletto) and practiced hair flips in the mirror.
Madoka Kaname was saved from a witch by the coolest girl she'd ever met (Homura, fronting very, very hard to impress the cutest girl in her class). Kyouko and Mami were leery of keeping Madoka around – Kyouko for fear of competition, and Mami for fear of Madoka getting hurt even worse, since she'd suffered a nasty scar from Izobel the Artist Witch – but Homura wanted her by her side, not even as a fellow magical girl, but as the kind of ordinary friend she'd fantasized about having for years in various medical wards.
Then came Walpurgisnacht. The shelter didn't make it. Neither did the Kanames. And the Holy Trio...
"I wasn't ever going to live long. And these past few weeks, after making my wish... I've been so happy that it almost seems unfair. Like I cheated the universe. So, no matter how this ends..."
It might've ended there, but, well, Kyubey. Madoka's wish wasn't to save Homura, though, who she didn't think she could stand with as an equal, even in death. Instead, Madoka wished to spend just a little more time with her – to extend that little slice of paradise that Homura coveted, that she was willing to die for –
"I wish that I could stay by Homura's side just a little longer, and live out a wonderful, ordinary life with her, for as long as she wants me."
In the end, even with a magical wish, Madoka Kaname the ordinary girl didn't consider herself capable of asking for something as big as everyone surviving past Walpurgisnacht. In the end, dreaming beyond your potential just leads to more suffering, doesn't it? So instead she restricted herself to supporting her best friend's desire to live out the best month-and-a-half of her life... again and again and again, carrying her scarred, changed body to each new timeline, the damaged, traumatized facilitator of an endlessly looping magical girl paradise where everyone gets to be special, over and over again. (She strangles her own potential in the process. No Madoka Kaname will reach beyond what her grasp permits, ever again.)
If Homura finds it in herself to be strong again – to be that perfect, unbreakable girl who could defeat even Walpurgisnacht if she had her friends behind her – then they'll escape this maze of time. (If she ever got sick of ordinary life and frailty and an ever-repeating everyday, she could certainly become that heroine who saves everyone. Who saved Madoka. Who Madoka fell for, who Madoka could help like no one else could, who became so amazing because she fought for Madoka. Just one more time. Please?) But Madoka Kaname, known crypto-Buddhist magical girl, couldn't possibly ask for anything more than those peaceful, happy days (which she keeps peaceful and happy, despite her best friend's slowly ballooning potential and Kyubey's increasing ruthlessness, by liberal application of deception, time-clone magic, impromptu therapy and occasional sedatives).
Also if she convinces Sayaka not to kill her for body-snatching her bestie and replacing her with a scarred, glasses-wearing trauma ghost doppelganger. Also her mom sometimes.
(Mami is deeply confused about why the cute pink underclassman Kyubey was keeping tabs on suddenly lost all her potential, especially since there's a weird new magical girl in town who looks exactly the same. Kyouko is drawn into the mystery of the mysterious body-stealing Pink Rose Witch, who Sayaka insists must be responsible for her best friend's transformation. She can't trust someone who gives her that much food "for free.")

Best Underrated Anime Group C Round 2: #C7 vs #C3
#C7: Comedy with high school girls with unique personalities
#C3: Old man turns into robot superhero
Details and poll under the cut!
Tumblr media
#C7: Wasteful Days of High School Girls (Joshikousei no Mudazukai)
youtube
Summary:
As she heads off to her entrance ceremony at Sainotama Girls' High School, Akane Kikuchi muses over her grade school dream of becoming a manga artist and the lack of progress that she has made. When she finally arrives at school, she is surprised to learn that she is once again in the same class as her two best friends: the deadpan and emotionless Shiori Saginomiya and the hyperactive and ridiculous Nozomu Tanaka. Tanaka then comes to the obvious realization that she can't achieve her grade school dream of being popular with the boys and getting a boyfriend by going to an all-girls high school.
In desperation, she begins asking the girls in her class to introduce her to their guy friends. Her classmates, however, are anything but ordinary. From a grandmother-loving loli to a reclusive chuunibyou to an overly analytical stalker, each one is given a fitting nickname by Tanaka to accentuate their weirdness. And so begin the wasteful days of these high school girls, each day kicked off with a simple question: "Hey, wanna hear something amazing?"
Propaganda:
Wasteful Days of High School Girls is fast-paced and genre-savvy, subverting a lot of high school anime tropes in ways that are really delightful even if you yourself aren't that familiar with high school animes. But most of all it is cool in a way that only awkward, weird, realistic teenagers can be. It probably won't make you long for your own high school days (if they are in the past), but that is a good thing, because sometimes only a good comedy can really lay bare what life is really like when you're a teenager.
The thing that makes this show so amazing is the characters. These are anime characters with some real Character with a capital C. Everyone is such a real and unique human personality; not just the main trio but all their classmates too AND the teacher and even the nurse that only appears in like one episode!
This is a show with the lowest of stakes and it still manages to feel like something incredibly significant has happened when you get to the end of it. And something incredibly significant has happened! Life happened! An entire year of it!
Trigger Warnings: Unknown.

However, his life takes a turn for the worse when a follow-up physical examination reveals that Ichirou has stomach cancer and only three months to live; though he tries to be strong, his family's disinterest causes an emotional breakdown. Running off into a nearby field, Ichirou embraces his dog and weeps—until he notices a strange figure standing before him.
Suddenly, a bright light appears and Ichirou is enveloped by smoke and dust. When he comes to, he discovers something is amiss—he has been reborn as a mechanized weapon wearing the skin of his former self. Though initially shocked, the compassionate Ichirou immediately uses his newfound powers to save a life, an act of kindness that fills him with happiness and newfound hope.
However, the origins of these strange powers remain unclear. Who was the mysterious figure at the site of the explosion, and are they as kind as Ichirou when it comes to using this dangerous gift?
Propaganda:
This show is nowadays remembered for referencing One Piece and its obvious CGI, but it’s so much more than that. Inuyashiki is a beautiful, dark, dramatic exploration of humanity, showcasing the brightest good that humans are capable of and the most horrific evil. It seriously explores both extremes, and it forces the audience to solemnly watch every step of the way.
It also has an AMAZINGLY badass OP and a beautifully sad ED, perfectly encapsulating the duality of the show itself.
Trigger Warnings: Animal Cruelty/Death, Flashing Lights, Graphic Depictions of Cruelty/Violence/Gore, Rape/Non-Con, Suicide

Maid cafe adventure game Maid Cafe at Electric Street to be published by PLAYISM
Gematsu Source
Tumblr media
PLAYISM will publish Adventurer’s Tavern-developed maid cafe adventure game Maid Cafe at Electric Street, the companies announced. It will be available for PC via Steam. It will launch in 2024.
Here is an overview of the game, via its Steam page:
About
Maid Cafe at Electric Street is a leisurely maid cafe adventure set in the otaku haven of Nipponbashi, Osaka. The protagonist of our story quits his job at an extremely toxic workplace and finds himself at a run-down maid cafe tucked away in a quiet part of Nipponbashi. There, he meets the maid Shiro. One thing leads to another, and he eventually gets appointed as the temporary cafe manager and put in charge of the management of the maid cafe. As the new manager, his first task is to scout cute girls to work at the cafe. Time to explore Nipponbashi and all the otaku stuff it has to offer!
Key Features
Get to know the four unique main girls: Shiro, Miyu, Favna, and Honoka, all voiced.
Immerse yourself in lighthearted stories about everyday life with the cute maids.
Enjoy the modern and gorgeous pixel art graphics depicting even the finest details, including the meat buns next to the convenience store cashier and the figures on the shelves of an anime shop.
Go on fun dates at Nipponbashi, from anime shops to arcades to the cinema!
The Four Main Girls of Fuwa Fuwa
Shiro – “Um, please be the new manager of the cafe!” A maid who loves Fuwa Fuwa Cafe. A huge otaku for anime and video games, she talks really fast when she’s gushing about the things she loves, and often splurges on merch without thinking whenever she visits an anime shop. A little clumsy, but works hard every day to become the cute maid she’s always wanted to be.
Miyu – “Hey Mr. Manager, thanks a bunch for hanging out with me today~☆.” A game otaku and gyaru with a big appetite. Loves both eating and cooking, and apparently really enjoys serving her cooking to customers at Fuwa Fuwa Cafe. Is actually Shiro’s friend on the online game Magic Angel, so they knew each other before actually meeting in real life.
Favna – “I am the Slayer of the False God, the Queen of the Kingdom of Darkness, the All-Seeing Oracle, the Guardian of the Dream of All Things—.” A mysterious girl dressed in gothic Lolita fashion. Speaks in riddles and demands the protagonist become her familiar. She sometimes accidentally drops the edgy act when she’s taken by surprise though, so maybe she’s just got a serious case of chuunibyou…?
Honoka – “Ya want a thrivin’ business? That there sounds like a job for our shrine!” A girl with a Kansaiben dialect who works as a shrine maiden at her family shrine. Practically in charge of the shrine, she is reliable and very good at handling money, and has a strong sense of responsibility to boot. On top of that, she’s also the only glasses girl at Fuwa Fuwa Cafe!
Support Your Maid Cafe Employees as the Manager!
As the cafe manager, it’s your job to allocate work to your maids. Make sure to give the right girl the right job! For example, Shiro is always enthusiastic to serve customers, and Miyu is great in the kitchen. Of course, you can’t just sit there while they work. During opening hours, you’ll also have to make coffee and help out on the floor, so it’s not as easy as it sounds!
The Stunning Sights of Nipponbashi
In order to recreate the atmosphere of the real Nipponbashi, the game features several real stores you can find there, such as Surugaya, Sofmap, Dragon Star, Super Potato, and Karaoke Rainbow, among many others. Don’t forget to pay them a visit when you’re shopping or taking one of your maids on a date!
Collectable Gachapon
If you’ve been to the real Nipponbashi, you’ll know that there are gachapon machines all over the area. In this game, you can also try your hand at collecting your favorite gachapon series and experience that unique gacha thrill of not knowing what you’re getting. As you collect more gachapon, you can even bring them up in conversations with the girls. Keep cranking those machines until you’ve collected them all!

Was bored during my commute and trying to think of fandoms to play around with. Was suddenly reminded by “The Eminence in Shadow”.
AKA, the isekai-story of a chuunibyou who wants to “create a cool secret organization whilst pretending to be a pathetically normal person”.
This guy has no moral or ethical qualms about literally anything at all, and is motivated purely by his “need to look cool”. He has no organizational skills whatsoever, and basically just bluffs his way through everything (and everyone interprets this as him being super wise and mysterious, instead of just being a crazy person).
He’s bullshit-strong enough that at one point he invented a sword-technique that was supposed to “mimic a nuclear-bomb”. But he’s also very dedicated to keeping up the ruse of being “pathetic and normal” in his normal life, so that his organization stays secret.
In other words, he’s a delightful character. But you can’t really replace him in any way, because he’s so batshit insane that nothing else can compare.
However. You can put him in another fandom. And so, my first thought was to have him instead reincarnate as:
Uchiha Sasuke.
Unfortunately, Sasuke is the very epitome of a Drama Queen (somewhat justified), and so it’s hard to imagine that Shadow would really change anything about Sasuke’s life, outside of his weird internal monologue.
“Aniki killed our entire clan! That’s so cool! And now I’m on a lonely and dark path of avenging my fallen clan and defeating my genius-level brother! This is awesome! Thank you, aniki!”
Like... it sounds like an absolutely hilarious internal monologue, but it wouldn’t change anything, so...
Second thought:
Uchiha Itachi.
This one... I can imagine working, but it would mess up so many plans surrounding the Massacre. After all, Itachi would be playing up “being normal and clumsy and pathetic” and as such be a massive disappointment to Fugaku.
(Sasuke would be the “talented son” and every bit of praise given to him would likely be given with a glare towards Itachi for “being useless”. Sasuke would feel very conflicted about his friendly-but-useless brother.)
I also have no idea how Itachi is supposed to “accidentally create a real secret organization”, or what kind of fake-identity he’d end up assuming in order to be actually cool and powerful and mysterious.
Third thought:
Shimura Danzo.
There’s no way this would work. God, can you even fucking imagine? I’d be coughing blood within the first few paragraphs of trying to write Danzo as some happy-go-lucky lunatic who founded Root mostly by accident and is keeping it running more out of internal peer-pressure than any actual knowledge of what Root is doing.
But the idea of turning fucking “source of all evils” Danzo into the kind of guy we’re supposed to be applauding for being “fun and weird and mysterious”? It made me laugh really loudly.

i'm so behind. i finally watched fullmetal alchemist: brotherhood in its entirety two days ago and...
i find it endlessly amusing that edward elric's wardrobe screams 'chuunibyou goth teenager' in-universe too, even though he actually isn't a chuuni himself. it's great.
alphonse elric is a sweet, gentle boy -- with a voice to match in english and japanese -- and a far more skilled fighter than his little big brother, who is already strong enough to punch out GOD.
all characters are given the same loving characterization, regardless of gender. as a result, the vast majority are memorable! even the one-shots! women are not relegated to healing or support roles; they're equal participants in the story.
i usually hate romance in stories targeted towards the shōnen demographic, because it's rarely written well. here we have at least two in all but name (riza hawkeye x roy mustang, winry rockbell x edward elric), and one with just the right amounts of awkwardness, devotion, deep friendship, and belatedly-realized mutual attraction to click for me. tsundere characters don't have to suck, y'all.
also, can i just say i really like arakawa-sensei's take on bookworms/nerds? not only are they badasses on and off the battlefield, but they're varied and fascinating -- only a scant few are stereotypical know-it-alls, absent-minded professors or mousy shrinking violets. they're just people. positive Smart Person representation? i'm here for it.
will it knock my all-time fave off its pedestal? no. is it a story that deserves a spot on the shelf of classic stories in any medium? absolutely.

Kana’s strong ability to read people comes from her emotional honesty.
And this ability is related to her specific acting style.
In the infamous Ch. 124, Kana keenly points out that Ruby has a co-dependent relationship with Aqua. This is amazing because she points out something that she wasn’t even really aware of--that Sarina is projecting her co-dependent relationship with Gorou-sensei.
She’s the only one who keeps pointing out and admitting that it’s really weird and out of character for them otherwise to be that close.
Tumblr media
I don’t think a lot of people recognize how accurately Kana points things out about people that we keep passing off as jokes. It seems most people poise Akane and Aqua as being the superior judges of character in the series. But there’s something about Kana’s readings of people that set her apart, and interestingly, it affects her acting.
First our main man Aqua is portrayed as this guy who reads others really well at the beginning of the show, manipulating others into doing what he needs them to do.
Tumblr media
According to Kana, his acting style is mainly focused on copying. And it’s true!  He thinks of a character that is needed in the situation or by what the director needs, and based on that, he acts it out.
Tumblr media
He even copied his mother’s killer on Sweet Today:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
To the point when, in Tokyo Blade, he had to act out Touki being relieved that Saya is alive, he originally acted it out exactly how the manga portrayed it:
Tumblr media
Then we have Akane, who can surmise the unspoken details of a person, and extrapolate information about them and make guesses about the decisions they will make.
Tumblr media
Her acting style is almost like Method acting, where she enters the person’s mind and lives in it for a bit to gain information about them.
Tumblr media
Her method is about intellectualizing the experiences of that person, rather than understanding herself. While this makes her a phenomenal detective with unmatched deduction skills, when there’s not enough information or the setting doesn’t suit her interpretation of the character, she could get stuck from time-to-time.
Tumblr media
These two acting styles are largely about trying to make informed guesses and judgement about people and copying those decisions.
Kana’s acting style is Adaptive. It goes farther than simply matching the energy of other people on the scene with her. It also means she reads herself in relation to others and adapts herself to the situation.
Tumblr media
In other words, Kana’s acting style is centered on a strong sense of empathy, and an honest understanding of her inner self and how she relates to others.
Tumblr media
Her acting is about how she would feel from situation to situation. If she already knows in herself that situation A would yield feeling Y, then she knows the opposite situation B would yield feeling Z. And so on.
Tumblr media
Because of how well she’s come to understand herself, she easily understands parts of others that they wouldn’t even admit to themselves.
i.e. Aqua’s actually pretty delusional and thinks himself to be more important than he is, and he has chuunibyou/eigth-grader syndrome:
Tumblr media
It’s a trope about teenagers escaping from their trauma by pretending they have some superior ability. And while Aqua isn’t pretending he’s secretly a ninja as in the classic sense of this trope, he does tend to think and act like he’s in a much bigger plot. In a way, Aqua does have the ability to remember facts from his past life, making him a middle-aged obstetrician in the body of a teenage actor, kind of like a vampire on his second life if you think about it--but apart from that, his ideas of being some Light Yagami-esque character who “uses” other people or has some superior detective skills has been kind of a failure. He didn’t crack his mom’s passcode by figuring it out, as much as he just bruteforce attempted every single one, and he didn’t even figure out his father’s identity after all that DNA testing he spent on. Akane had to do it for him. And he didn’t lead Akane to find Amamiya Gorou’s corpse--The Crow did that for Ruby.
Tumblr media
She uses her own personal experiences to understand how deeply someone else would also feel in that situation, even if they try to hide their emotions.
Tumblr media
All this is simply to say that, there have been a lot of personality observations that Kana has spoken that has been passed off as a joke, when in fact she’s been accurately describing the reality of the situation out loud.
I think apart from the plot, the emotional beats of the story would likely involve Kana pointing it out (whether to the character or to the reader) that they have a problem they need to resolve--whether it’s Ruby’s co-dependence on Aqua, or Aqua’s inability to express real emotions as he suppresses his trauma, that will lead to them fulfilling the character development necessary to fully resolve their story arc.
I also think that it’s Kana’s emotional integrity and honesty--her ability to understand her true self and have the courage to vulnerably lay that out completely on-screen--that will set her acting apart from her contemporaries and will make her shine like none other.
Tumblr media
I have no catchy ending line for you like my previous theories/analyses, except for this:
Arima Kana best girl.

[R] Tsuzuru | Serene Mankai Green (2/2)
Tumblr media
I used to think of being Red or Blue Ranger in the past, but... when it comes to me wearing one, this colour suits me the best.
Part 1 // Part 2
Translation under the cut
The Secret of Hero's Transformation - Part 2
Citron: If Tsuzuru’s “Green”, then the firm center Sakuya is gotta be “Red”!
Muku: Sakuya-kun is a straightforward person, so “Red” sounds about right!
Tsuzuru: Going by that logic, then yeah, Sakuya’s good as that colour.
Juza: Then, is Masumi “Blue”?
Muku: He’s really cool, so it fits him perfectly!
Citron: Itaru’s a Chuunibyou, so he’s “Black”.
Tsuzuru: No objections there.
Muku: That just leaves Chikage-san. I wonder what colour should he be?
Citron: Chikage will be “Pink”!
Juza: Ain’t “Pink” usually played by women?
Tsuzuru: True, “Pink” has a strong image of a woman. Why’d you choose that?
Citron: It’s for the character gap. Everyone’s weak when it comes to that!
It’d be the selling point! I’m sure it’ll sell like hotcakes!
Juza: ‘s that so?
Muku: Certainly, Chikage-san being the “Pink” one has that certain gap...!
Tsuzuru: What kind of selling method is that?
Citron: By the way, I’m “Blue”!
Juza: There’re two “Blues”...? That’s new.
Tsuzuru: One person’s enough for “Blue”.
Citron: Tsuzuru, you’ve got so many complaints~ It can’t be helped then.
I’ll be the “Ultra Rainbow”!
Juza: Sounds amazin’.
Muku: It seems like you’d be all sparkles. That’s so cool...!
Tsuzuru: No no no, what kind of image would a “Rainbow” even have?!
Citron: And here’s the catchphrase! “The liar of justice, Spring Ranger appears!” (1)
Tsuzuru: You’re supposed to say “ally” there, not “liar”!
Citron: Tsuzuru, you’re so nit-picky on small details~
—Hallway—
Tsuzuru: (I better work on my report until my part-time job starts...)
...Hm? What’s this?
(It’s... one of the transformation goods that Citron-san got.)
Geez, can’t believe he dropped it here.
(Huh. Now that I take a closer look, this item’s sure well-made. There are even buttons to push...)
......
“The ally of justice, Spring Ranger appears!”
Haha, just kidding.
Tsumugi: ......
Tsuzuru: Ts-Tsukioka-san?! Oh, uh, this is a...
Tsumugi: S-sorry! I was just passing by. I didn’t mean to watch it...
Tsuzuru: No, you got it wrong! It’s a misunderstanding...!
Tsumugi: I-it’s okay! There are times when you want to release stress by doing that, right?
Don’t mind me and continue, okay? Bye...!
*runs away*
Tsuzuru: He definitely got the wrong idea! P-please wait a second!
Tsukioka-saaannnn~!!
Notes:
(1) 形見 (katami / memento) → 味方 (mikata / ally)

my brain cannot get over kaidou shun
like. one of his nicknames is Chibi so my mind instantly says "yeah hes an incarnation of chibiterasu now"
AND SO THE OKAMI AU CAME TO LIFE
he goes on the Okami adventure alongside Ammy and Issun, and gets celestial brush powers (of course he doesnt have a tail so he finger-paints instead)
his whole journey would take place either right before or very early in his 'chuunibyou' phase in canon, and takes place over a single night (in his world at least)
the Okamiden story would probably be more of a flashback/memory of a past life, in the form of a dream about nine months after he returns
for every technique he learns, he gets a symbol on his arm (starting at his wrist and moving up) representing it, and that's why he wraps his arms (even tho nobody can see them)
dark reunion is a proxy for Yami/Akuro, and jet black wings is proxy for his brush powers (which he doesn't use after returning because he has no way of regenerating ink in the modern world)
Waka shows up in the modern world at some point on 'vacation,' and proceeds to bother Shun whenever he's alone
also at some point Amaterasu shows up, i have no idea what her function would be (outside of whatever plot) other than "oh fuck why does kaidou have a giant wolf following him around"
out of all the divine instruments, he'd use either the providence crystal or a glaive
(when Ammy shows up, she shares half of the string of beads with him (when necessary) so he can fight alongside her)
concerning the psychic elephant in the room, Kusuo would have no idea about any of this, since its a matter of divinity and he doesn't hold a strong belief in the gods
ill add more later if i think of it

Thank you so much for your wonderful work and kindness sharing joyful reunion with us. Just wondering, am I the only person who wished Duan Ling and Lang Junxia end up together? For some reason I could not warm up to Wu Du!!!
You're very welcome! Thank you for partaking in the thing I love <3
no, you're not the only one --- Langjun x Duan Ling is the alternative ship, and it's often commented that Wu Du's presence doesn't feel as strong as Langjun's, even though he's on screen a lot. Langjun gets the tragic backstory with the vengeance subplot and the self-sacrificing narrative, meanwhile, Wu Du gets ... Duan Ling. Wu Du also starts off as a bit of an immature brat, but we only ever get to see Langjun being capable, from the kitchen to the battlefield. Langjun never got a chuunibyou stage, while we got to witness Wu Du’s in full colour. Feitian also plays favourites, since every time he walks on screen it’s a different outfit + look how pretty he is!
In his character arc though, Lang Junxia’s just been trying to get back to Li Jianhong since book 1 ...

who are your oldest and most recent phindian ocs?
Ayo is my oldest and very first Phindian OC, from back in 2012. TBQH I wanted to ship my little mary sue ass Astrid with Osi but I couldn't bring myself to break canon at the time, so I had to make a whole new guy. Dang, that really made me realize I've been developing Ayo's character for eleven years. I really do love him, he's my second oldest Star Wars OC ever and his character has come a long way to being nuanced and interesting (to me).
My most recent OC is a member of Ayo's extended family, his niece Nolaa. She's the only child of Ayo's immediate older brother. She's the Star Wars "chuunibyou" character I mentioned a few months ago.
Nolaa creates a mental narrative that she has force powers, and takes the persona of a fallen, gray-force Jedi in constant battle with The Dark Side. The Dark Side can lurk anywhere, from her relatives' homes, to her chatty classmates, to a part time community service job she doesn't want to do. It's her coping mechanism for stress, sadness, and discomfort during adolescence.
I have a few paragraphs of background from my notes:
Nolaa uses her fantasy as a way to carve out her own personality and believe in herself, despite her anxiety and low self-esteem. It helps her accept her low place in the social order at school, though it also contributes to that. She’s weird. Her interests are morbid and occultish, and her behaviors are atypical, so she gets bullied a bit.
She starts this at about 11, and then abandons her fantasies on her 16th birthday. Her friendship with Ari (Lex's OC, the youngest child of Beryl) does a lot to influence her decision to stop pretending her life is a holodrama. Despite Ari being 3 years younger than her, Nolaa takes their friendship seriously and wants to be someone he'll be proud to know in the future. It also starts to feel silly to her, knowing that his immediate family are actual force users.
Ayo is her biggest inspiration. She admires him a lot as a teen. Both for the way he lives and the way he’s clearly the outcast of the family. She hopes to have something as strong as Ayo's relationship with Astrid for herself, one day.
Nolaa's interests are morbid and unusual. She likes bones and preserved animals, crystals, “artifacts,” and celestial imagery. In her intermediate schooling years, she starts dabbling in gothic Phindian fashion and goes fully for it at 16. Her family indulges her once she stops living in her Jedi fantasy. They're supportive of her trying to function socially and fit in with her peers. Her fashion may be counterculture, but she keeps her grades up and makes a genuine effort to make real world friends by understanding other people, so her parents reward her with clothes and accessories that make her feel comfortable in her identity.
As part of her "recovery" from her chuunibyou, Nolaa approaches the less clique-y groups in her classes very humbly and makes an honest effort to meet her classmates on their level. It doesn't work out entirely. She's still quite ostracized. But she is able to make some superficial friendships and starts trying to fit in with the more alternative groups at her school.
She's actually rather innocent, despite her attempts to be edgy and dark. Misses a lot of innuendo. She loves creative games and art. Good at improv and storytelling.
