There is some debate about where the Wallcreeper sits in the bird family tree, with early taxonomists placing it with treecreepers in Certhiidae, while others would like to place it within the nuthatch family Sittidae. Currently, the wallcreeper is in its own family, Tichodromidae, and genetic evidence suggests that it is more closely related to nuthatches.

Wallcreeper are territorial birds, separating after their breeding season to separate winter feeding grounds between the male and female. During this time, females will sing as often as male as a way to keep guard over their territory, though on the breeding grounds it is typically only the male who sings.

Made a challenge for myself to make less boring character designs. I usually stick to naturalistic colouring on my characters and such, and I wanted to flex my artistic muscles and use my brain for once.

I started easy on myself basing the palette/design on a mammal but progressed into birds, amphibians, insects, and nudibranchs!

In order we have:

Dasyurus maculatus, tiger quoll

Lamprotornis superbus, superb starling

Pyxicephalus adspersus, african bullfrog

Eurylaimus javanicus, banded broadbill

Apantesis virgo, virgin tiger moth

Eolophus roseicapilla, galah

Sphaerocoris annulus, picasso bug

Degonetus serratus, white stink bug

Acherontia atropos, death's-head hawkmoth

Tichodroma muraria, wallcreeper

Chromodoris annae, sea slug

Some of these look goofy as hell, I know. Picasso bug tiddies (unintentional but I left it there for fun), nudibranch's werewolf looking like it's wearing an ass-out swimsuit. Happy little accidents.

AS FAR AS I KNOW these aren't adoptables. Just a personal design challenge for myself. If that changes I'll let y'all know but don't count on it.

I'll likely do more in the future just for fun as warmups. If anybody has suggestions on critters I can use for palettes like this, feel free to send me an ask -- no guarantees I'll draw it, but I appreciate your ideas!
