I love that they did this. Just like when they premiered the first test footage at SDCC in 2009, the working title was simply TR2N, and now here we see TR3N (and don't even with the name jokes cuz its dumb and old already thank you). I consider this a wonderful nod to how Legacy started, and that makes me so happy.

i hate how he runs a fucking cult and is a fucking asshole to women in the name of 'method acting'

i hate how he's going to ruin this franchise that so many of us LOVE and how it will forever be tarnished

i hate how the legacy of the franchise will be 'oh yeah wasn't jared leto in that one really bad one and then there was nothing else after?' and not a word about cindy morgan, who put so much love and joy into the fandom and left behind such a strong example of women in science.

Ok I know the instagram comments is generally the place for the worst of humanity to gather but I was looking at some for general news on Tron 3. One about “begging for daft punk” to return etc

Discovered that

1.) a lot of people have no clue Tron 2 was even a thing. Both fans of the original and daft punk fans

2.) a lot of people who had no clue Tron 3 was going to be a thing then expressing imitate disappointment that it’s going to be Leto

3.) rise in concern and confusion when hearing about the plot

Once again I ask… who the fuck is this for?

Definitely not original fans. Maybe legacy fans because the aesthetic remains but that’s a bit risky with the story line. And once again they’re not advertising at all, so like genuinely I ask…

Here’s a redraw of Tron from the movie Tron: Legacy (2010) that I did a few years ago. Highly underrated movie imo; if the script had been a bit tighter I feel it would’ve made more of a splash when it came out, the visuals are still absolutely breathtaking and hold up to this day. Though, it always bugged me a little that the title character, Tron, wasn’t even the hero in a movie named after him! Maybe Tron 3, whenever that gets made, can work on that? (Preferably without Jared Leto 😒)

Everything I've seen about Tron 3 has given me zero reason to be excited for it. Different director, No apparent attempt to follow up on what happened at the end of Tron Legacy, no sign of the prior cast, and Jared Leto playing the main character. Daft Punk has also disbanded. Not even going to bother.

The absolute best moments of my career have been watching an actor perform in front of the camera – taking the scene and the text to a higher place. I’ve been fortunate to collaborate with amazing talent. It’s a huge part of why I’m a filmmaker. However, like myself, being an actor or a writer, means you’re a freelancer. And I can tell you, the constant uncertainty is not for everyone. To that end I don't think it's unreasonable to ask for a better safety net.   Many of my best friends are writers. Everything starts with the story. Everything starts with you. That must continue. And that means that AI needs to be regulated. There is no doubt about the threat the technology poses to all creatives.   Today was supposed to be our first day of principal photography on TRON: ARES (a movie subsequently about AI and what it means, and takes, to be human). Instead, we are shut down with over a hundred and fifty people laid off. It’s indefinite, which makes it exponentially harder for everyone.   The AMPTP, SAG-AFTRA and WGA need to speed up the negotiating process and not leave the table until it’s done. This is Hollywood. We close deals for breakfast. Why do we suddenly have all the time in the world when every day is so precious? These tactics are extremely frustrating. It’s time for diplomacy so we can get back to work – under conditions that are fair to everybody #amptp #sagaftra #wga
