Encantober Day 1 - Sunset

Bruno stepped his bare feet down onto the wood of his bedroom floor. He stood from his bed and padded to the center of the room. The air was thick with salt and brine, filling his nose with the sharp, wet scent. He could taste the saltiness on his tongue. The tide pushed in across the floorboards, the chilling foam washing over his bare feet, thinning as it went until it was just a film across the wood behind him. As the water pulled back, it carried grains of wood with it like sand, and Bruno's heels sank slowly into the floor, leaving him standing just a little deeper than he'd begun. He'd never been to the beach. He'd read about it, but being here was different. The saltiness tasted different than salt tossed into the air, than the rush of dry sand. It all felt thicker, heavier. He used to daydream as a child of visiting the beach, and here he was. How funny that all he had to do this whole time was step out of bed. Ahead of him Mirabel and Antonio splashed and played in the wake, seagulls dipping down to greet them with harsh calls. Deeper in, Luisa and Camilo swam amidst the waves. Antonio was almost as tall as Mirabel. When had he gotten so tall? ... It was a sunset. Or was it a sunrise? Wait--hadn't it just been night, hadn't he just been in bed? As the last of the orange sun slipped below the line of water, a flash of green raced out like a gunshot, pulsing toward him faster than the tide. WOOSH. He squeezed his eyes shut as it pushed past. Everything tasted green, salt and brine.

For @encantober-official Day 1, I took inspiration from a vision-dream that Bruno has in chapter 13 of my fic La Traes. His reimagined bedroom is from my other fic Bruno from Before; you can find its description below the cut!

There were no more treacherous stairs to trek up, nor ghastly images of a haunted prophet to pass to get to Tío Bruno's cave. Now it was just the ornate round door settled deep into the back wall of his room, shadowed slightly by an hourglass shaped entryway that no longer poured out sand. His main room was cozy and warm now, despite the impossibly high ceiling of the tower that rose above it. Natural light filtered in from the round window at the top of the tower like a cathedral, illuminating minute particles of dust and sand that floated lazily through the air. The left side of his room held a small bed tucked against the wall, a desk littered with papers and pencils, and a dresser situated next to the main door. The entire right side of the room was a sitting area, red and green cushioned chairs angled at each other just enough to encourage conversation but not enough to force it, a low table sitting between them. The backs of the chairs were to the center of the room, the chairs positioned to face a wall of bookshelves loaded with not only books but also doo-dads and collected odds and ends that Tío treasured for some reason or another. Two or three of the plants gifted by Isabela climbed precariously from their potted places on the shelves. One entire shelf seemed to be some sort of rat maze. Framed pictures of each and every Madrigal, some current and some yellowed with age, spread across all the walls like butterflies drifting in clustered groupings. And there, straight across from the main doorway, stood the hourglass cutout and the large round door through that, looking for all the world like nothing more than a particularly interesting closet and not a room where the future sifted into the present.

quick ramble and semi(?) hot take but as much as i love trinity and nicky / tricky, and i mean love them and i am a very vocal shipper of those two--platonic and romantic--i kinda want their dynamic to be put on the backburner for season 2.

don't get me wrong-- i'd still go insane over season 2 tricky content, but i dont want the series to continue being solely centralized on them like in season 1; there's a lot of other characters and dynamics i was really interested in, and it was a shame to see them not touched on in the later episodes, only loosely shown in episode 6 or so? (i.e. ivan and enzo, maritza and trinity, list goes on). so i hope season 2 focuses on the other inventor's club kids, as well as delroy and finch, who are definitely going to be prominent this season. i believe trinity and nicky's characters are still *kinda* intertwined with each other, or at least will have an episode or segment dedicated to them, but i really hope they don't hog all the spotlight. there are so many character details left unexplained that i want answers to them in season 2 SOOO BAD!

as much as people like to criticize the characterization and overall writing of the animated series, i do believe in the ability of the writers when it comes to writing personal character growth and character dynamics that can paint an identity of its own, separating itself from the books or the games (which are still good on their own merit!), so i really hope that they can manage to squeeze in the other inventor's club kids' character growth alongside explaining the story.

separately, i believe since trinity takes the role of the "main character" for this series she'll most likely still be the center point of the series, focusing more on the golden coin she received, i just reaaalllyyyy hope the writers make her beat up a guy or something

nicky? he's more of a mixed bag, i don't know if the writers plan to make him integral to season 2 or not, but i really hope he just isn't the catalyst of all the bad events this time. leaks show that he's more or less going to recover from his trauma in the same season, which is kind of a shame lol, but it would be interesting to see what made him 'snap out of it' in the first place (lack of better wording here)

FINALLY got Resident Evil 2 the new remake one because it was super cheap on steam. I finally get to play as my girl Claire! I already started it and it is absolutory gorgeous! I am so excited to continue playing this game!

“How do you think he does it?”

Scott doesn’t need to ask what Fritz means. Not as he watches Eggs hold two conversations at once. And the icing on the cake is the fact one is being held verbally with David while the other is aimed toward them via flawless ASL.

“Honestly?” the older begins. “I think he exists on a higher plane than us.”

The redhead allows the surprised laugh to burst out, grinning as he’s only smiled down at.

This…this is nice. Fritz never thought being dead would be something positive to think about. He might’ve been aware of ghosts, might’ve seen them and interacted, but he did always think that was only something he could do. Was terrified he’d be completely alone to haunt Fazbear Entertainment Center forever.

Looking up at the sandy haired man, he can’t help but think of how good of a mentor Scott’s been when it comes to being a ghost. Not only to him, but to Jeremy as well. Had actually been the main reason they even all became aware of each other.

Well, Eggs actually tries to claim it was all him who got them all together.

Speaking of the blond…

“I saw David twice.”

Scott forces himself not to snort at the fact Eggs’ signing for ‘David’ is correctly translated as ‘bitch’. He certainly could correct the teenager, could actually out the man with all of his quote unquote ‘shortcuts’ for each of their names.

“He was saying David is being a David.”

[ 3tan ] hi, loves! i’ve been re-uploading three tangerines to wattpad in smaller parts to make it easier on readers over there🥳 if you’re a wattpad reader of if you like reading there instead, the parts will be loaded 2-3 times a week until caught up with the main storyline!

i’ve never used this site before, so i originally uploaded the parts as whole chapters instead of the more preferred 2-5k🤣 now i’m redoing everything. if you wanna support over there, that would be much appreciated! and you can comment on paragraphs, which is super cool😳

also… for my seasoned readers… i’m going through and editing parts/changing some stuff up to make the writing better imo🫣 so the wattpad parts are slightly different than the original parts on tumblr if you wanna read again!
