Finally got Bazel to build me a Go executable on my home desktop today. Just had to upgrade the Bazel version first, so to get my existing C++ projects to compile I needed a new version of protobuf, which required me to change all the places I was logging "status.error_message()" because that method has been renamed to "message()", and also it now returns a StringPiece which Abseil logging doesn't support, so I updated my Abseil install to the latest so I could import Status from there instead of using the protobuf version, so I had to go through all my various tests and update what they imported and logged. But apart from that, no problems with the Go experiment!

In 2011, I took part in a charity event at The Vermont Hotel in Newcastle on World Autism Awareness Day, which is the 2nd April. This event was an abseil from the rooftop to street level on the road called Side. This was a 200 foot abseil and it was a very breezy day too. I throughly enjoyed my time.

A weird dream I had

So I was in school on a Saturday for some reason, and I was walking to my physics classroom. The sciences are in the west corridor so when I walked over there I noticed that the corridor was instead this festival type place with stalls and food. The corridor itself isn't that wide so somehow the rest of the school just cuts off there and the festival is like a completely different place that I'm not even sure had a ceiling. I walked around a bit looking at all the different stalls. I didn't seem confused at the fact that part of the school just cuts off into a completely different place (but hey, had an excuse not to do physics). Nobody else seemed phased or confused either, in fact they acted like this was totally normal. For some reason my latin teacher was running a stall with washing machines but didn't do ironing and nearby was a stall which was selling muffins with so many toppings it could decrease your life span by 3 years just with 1 bite. They did seem pricey though and I didn't want to spend too much money on my lunch card. After a while I said to myself that I was going to visit the muffin stall later as I got distracted by the sight of a dark doorway.

At first the doorway didn't have a door, then it did have a door but it was unlocked. I don't think my brain had decided on the door. Obviously I walked in and entered this dark corridor with dated wallpaper and carpet. There was 2 doors, one on each side of me. The doors were a dark red in contrast to the yellowy colour of the walls. I didn't enter the rooms as they were locked, but I had a feeling on what the rooms inside were like. This place was a mini block of flats. I walked a bit further and entered this rectangle room (no door to connect the corridor to this room, not even a wall). There were more doors around and an abandoned part that had a broken window. I sensed someone was coming so I quickly back flipped through the broken window and hid. The person came by driving their car. Then the car hit something even though there was nothing but carpet there and it went vertical. The car and the person disappeared and the person instead ran into the room and then ran through their door.

Suddenly I was teleported to this pinball like game that wasn't pinball because it didn't have any flippers. It was a mix of rock climbing and something throwing massive balls from the ground to try knock you off. Low poly Samus and some other video game characters were there and I had turned into sonic but I couldn't run fast. The game was on a slant and was like a really long and wide slide with stuff on it. I then teleported up to the top but told I was cheating as I could see the balls as they came (they were like beach balls but 3 times their usual size) and then I would whack them. I was at this little place where there was enough room to sit on and for some reason tails was there. I then abseiled down the slide and about half way the dream ended.

So you know how people say that dreams have meanings? Yeah what the hell does this mean?

So!! I've been working out, training, yelling ADRIAAAAN. For a reason mind you. In October I'm going to do the world's tallest indoor abseil. 418 foot of abseiling. I get wobbly when I stand on a chair!!!! Now, I'm not doing this just to prove how very cool and sporty and handsome and cool I am. I'm doing it for charity!! I'm raising money for the National Autistic Society, a fabulous charity that puts loads of hard work in for people like me! Cool people. Cool people who also happen to be Autistic. Follow the link on this post to a JustGiving page, all the money goes straight to NAS. Even if you can only spare a quid, or can only share this post on your page or at work or show it to your fave cute barrister, it all helps! In conclusion, I am cool. i think it was the fact that i was using power tools at 11 that's wild actually

in retrospect our childhood habits of making Drink (every sugary drink in the house poured into one cup in equalish amounts. usually this meant pepsi + lemonade + orange squash + blackcurrant squash, sometimes also the weird pink fanta and/or vimto and/or my mum's fancy elderflower cordial) and of taking the little packets of sugar from cafes to then just pour directly into our mouths shldve clued someone in earlier to mine & my sister's adhd

#yelling at clouds #once i went on a trip with scouts to. oh what is a general term for a PGL camp #activity course??? #yknow we weren't camping they provide accommodation but it's all Activities #climbing n abseiling n canoeing n stuff #anyway that's irrelevant the point of this story is we ate meals in a canteen and that canteen had the little packets of sugar #and i spread the gospel of taking the little packets of sugar to then pour directly into your mouth #and we took so many the kitchen staff noticed and told us to stop :') #also in retrospect: holy shit no one in my scouts troop was neurotypical that's why we were all Like That #the camp we all collectively adopted a rock and named it and insisted on having it participate in everything we did...
