all of us have a disease. it is awakened. mine came with the betrayal of ephah in ██. i watched how it infected him. perhaps i willed it when he rotted under my watch. he deserved it.
how it arises in other people is something i do not entirely understand. i want to say prolonged exposure, but people i've known for weeks will develop it and not those i have known for years, in some cases. but sometimes it is sporadic. it's spread either by random, granted by some unknown force as an unholy gift, or it is passed through wounds.
I'm wondering if it happens because Aeron consciously or unconsciously wants it to. They did say perhaps they willed it.
It sounds like Ephah pissed them off? But they called it a betrayal...
I don't think Aeron hated Ephah. Aeron was saying they deserved it, so they were angry and bitter, but there is a rose imagery to what happened to Ephah at the end. Aeron talked about the eyes looking just like their own, about how Ephah was smiling.
Maybe it's a possessive thing, to mark and consume the other person and put them in that blissfully delusional/easily controlled state. Wasn't there a delusion ending where Aeron looked like a human and seemed to be the players partner 'looking after' them? It means they submit to Aeron, love them, and nobody else can have them.
Aeron does like to see people suffer and/or play nurse as a weird form of affection. Apparently they love through pity? Wiping tears away? Dependence and vulnerability. They love a broken bird.
They break people so they can care for them, create the dream of being together in a normal world, and then the person dies. Aeron thinks this is the only way romance can happen for them and just repeats it. They collect Lost Lenores.
I think maybe Aeron and Ephah were lovers of some kind, or Aeron wanted them to be. And drama ensued. (Perhaps Ephah wanted to be independent, favoured someone else, or tried to leave. And that was seen as a betrayal.)
The parasight does seem to happen to the people Aeron wants to pick up for dates.
Speaking of... when Iris went mad from feeling the unseen stares... I wonder if it was Aeron's omnipresent gaze she became aware of. Their attention was intense enough to make itself felt. Perhaps it was just one of those rare moments where they focused on one thing and it was too much.
Perhaps they unconsciously willed it.
That's some Evil Eye ish right there.
(Also the stares seemed to come from the paintings. Can Aeron look out of paintings? Did they do something to them when they 'repair' them or do they have domain over things that can count as eyes or eye motifs? And the lady was called Iris. A flower but also the coloured part of an eye. Another theory I have is that layers of different realities overlapped, and perhaps without knowing you/Iris and maybe the other patrons wandered from the normal art gallery into Aeron's.)
i can tell you one thing for sure: for each person, it is different. based on their insecurities, i believe. a belief is better than something unfounded, unsure.
Demons seem to manifest their beliefs about themselves, their perception of the world.
Aeron is strongly related to sight and perception, being an artist and also needing to believe that they see everything, everything they see is complete and true... They see themselves as all knowing and in control. To think that something exists that they can't see, or that something they see isn't real... that's their fear, to not have control of their own power of delusion. (I don’t think they do. They seem to mislead themselves as well as others.)
I wonder if it's Ephah's ghost they can't see. I wonder if Ephah is the old lover they somehow 'keep'? I don't know exactly what keeping the old lover entails. Perhaps as a preserved exhibit or their blood being used in paintings. (I don't actually know how Aeron uses the blood.) Perhaps being haunted by them, figuratively or literally.
Perhaps by occupying their body and repairing it piecemeal rather than ever abandon it. Aeron did take the form of an ancient Middle Eastern human, the first human they met and the one that set the tone for their interactions with humanity. It was implied that Aeron took on only their appearance, but later it was mentioned Aeron took over the body of a lover, only once, and never did it again. And apparently demons can still use bodies affected by the parasight. It fits.
The name Ephah is mentioned in the bible. So at the very least we know Ephah is a known name of a Middle Eastern location and an ancient time period. And there are a few of them but one is mentioned as transporting gold and frankincense in Sheba so perhaps travelling. The area of Sheba isn’t well defined but could be in Africa - or Southern Arabia, within the same large region as Jordan where Aeron first roamed.
I wonder if that short censored bit is a date, or a location. Sheba? Is there an ancient name for Jordan? Jor and Dan were the two northern tributaries that fed the river. This became Urdan/Urdon. Arabs then named it Al-Urdon. It could be any one of those.
Eri had something similar with the hallucinations before finding his own way with his power of words. (I wonder if that was a temporary touch of the parasight that healed but that was before meeting Delusion - or was it? - so it was possibly just head trauma. Or something else supernatural. And it's been confirmed that the erupting and healing scales on his skin are not eyes, but snake scales from the snake eyes. Cruelly the eyes seem to be doing it, not him. Another loss of agency.)
I wonder though... Eri's powers definitely come from his need to control/be in control and are an offshoot of Delusion's. But they are explicitly verbal.
Did his power of words and the ability to shape reality come through the snake eyes as well? I mean, when someone is very persuasive about something that isn't true or real you can metaphorically say that they have a forked tongue. The snake was the original bad influence. Eri can literally manipulate people like puppets and manifest entire fictional realities. I bet he could be really dangerous if he chose to gaslight.
I think that's something he and Aeron share. A real thing about having control. Maybe that's another reason for tension. Aeron wants a power imbalance dynamic Eri can't bear.
Genesis possibly has something related to hearing, music or emotion. It seems he can sway people's emotions and cause them to do really irrational things, or destroy them outright with sound waves. I wonder if his own uncontrolled emotions and impulses come out unconsciously, and they confirm a secret feeling of him not having it together, being out of control. That's why he was so embarrassed about the player finding the corpse, and why he impulsively lashed out.
The powers/curses are definitely the demon's own emotional issues projected outward.
the side effect is has on other demons i only learned after the demon of dreams used it in his suicide attempt. i have chosen to keep quiet about this knowledge. the other do not need to know. this is silas's failed mission. i am just upset he tried this....without asking me. even if we did not know each other.
So Silas did get the parasight from Delusion to use it for himself... previous conspiracy theory confirmed?
at its lightest, it changes the eye color of the demon's bodies permanently. his eyes weren't always like that. that's not to say all demons have regular eyes. erebus's nor dorian's were caused by me.
I'm wondering then if it was the previous aspect of Delusion who pranked Eri with the snake eyes and demonhood and not Aeron... hence the fear of but not outright hating Aeron themselves?
(I've speculated about that before. However it's not 100% as I do have some plausible ideas of why Aeron themselves might have wanted to do it. A fascination/aesthetic attraction towards Erebus at one point has been implied.)
I wonder if there's any carryover or memories of their past 'selves', even fleeting feelings of deja vu? Or if all that dies with the old vessel.
One thing I will say though. Even if Aeron wasn't personally responsible for giving the parasight to Silas or playing the cruel prank on Erebus, mischief and unintended drama seems to be inherently bound up with every incarnation of theirs. Delusion is chaotic, a trickster god.
perhaps your death to the parasight will result you in being the angel that people have described in two books. i cannot know that. i do not know that. or maybe i do, and i just should not tell you that.
I do wonder about this. There was something about the Afflicted being special, a novelty because nobody really survived that long before. (?) I wonder about the route where Erebus tries to cure it, and what happens if the Afflicted actually 'survives' it.
Whether they gain an immunity or could potentially ascend to demonhood themselves. And begin to have their own inner nature supernaturally manifest.
Aeron talked about the eyes looking just like their own, about how Ephah was smiling.
he loved me once. at least, i believe he did. he was one of the first people i ever met. when i crawled from the sand, hair over my eyes, blood crusted inside my nose, he took me in. he cleaned me. he gave me a name. it is not the one i use now. i stole that from another corpse.
he tried hurting me is all. tried pulling my limbs apart with the power of a village, tried cutting me up and gnawing at my flesh to take as his own. despite an exchange of spit, he wanted only a theft of meat.
and, in a way, he got what he wanted.
i never learned what it was. my conclusion is that he realized my power. one of the only ways to tell a story is "a stranger comes to town." it's not to say i'm powerful or anything. i'm just me, i'm just what is necessary, but if something like me stumbles into a small village, there may be chaos. rumors. thoughts. perhaps this is a feasting of the divine, and by imbibing the flesh, he would have been granted power. that has never worked, not for me, not for most people i have known. some like it that way. maybe he did it to silence something evil.
maybe he did it out of love. i was young, naïve. it still hurt. i did not care. i barely care now.
Maybe it's a possessive thing, to mark and consume the other person and put them in that blissfully delusional/easily controlled state. Wasn't there a delusion ending where Aeron looked like a human and seemed to be the players partner 'looking after' them? It means they submit to Aeron, love them, and nobody else can have them.
it could be possession. i am unaware. but i have had to take care of people. i pluck an eyeball from my own vessel and place it inside the forehead of whoever needs it. i send them to sleep, and they play out a delusion, usually involving my person, until their body dies. genesis called it a strange word once. he called it mercy.
They collect Lost Lenores.
it is in the act of love that makes it love. all of you are so fragile. it is amusing. it is tragic. i want every bit of it. is that wrong? is it wrong to do these things and have these thoughts when i, by some unwritten law, tear apart everyone i love? perhaps. i have no plans to change it. to change what is established.
That's some Evil Eye ish right there.
this is basically what happened. it's randomized, it's rare, but that's it. that is why the faces all turn blank but the eyes look the same of those around whoever enters "the spiral", as dubbed by aeron and genesis in the demo.
(Also the stares seemed to come from the paintings. Can Aeron look out of paintings? Did they do something to them when they 'repair' them or do they have domain over things that can count as eyes or eye motifs? And the lady was called Iris. A flower but also the coloured part of an eye. Another theory I have is that layers of different realities overlapped, and perhaps without knowing you/Iris and maybe the other patrons wandered from the normal art gallery into Aeron's.)
not so much just paintings and more anything that has eyes represented. sculpture, print, illustration, whatever. i repair paintings that are affected in the spirals because i feel it is my duty. no one is going to do it as well as i will! i've seen the trends....foolish, if you ask me.
They seem to mislead themselves as well as others.)
basically correct. they don't like this idea of mass delusions. only controlled, specialized ones. those are more fun to them. there is a part in their route where you see figures that you shouldn't. you shouldn't know the names and faces of their past lovers, but you do, and that scares them.
it's the only thing that does.
ephah was a young man. not the one described in religious texts. i let his new flower rot. i took from him whatever locks of hair shed from his skin and placed it in a jar. he is not the one whose body i possessed.
the one i possessed was named ████.
i'm so sorry.
i'm doing what i can.
aeron otherwise "preserves" dead lovers by taking pieces from them and keeping them in a collection. sometimes it is their artifacts. the swirling drink from the beginning of the game is from a man named crow who died in the 90s in a shootout. sometimes it is pieces of their body. it depends. they have never used parts of their lovers in their art.
the use of blood in the art is typically a joke. it is used rarely, but it's often just auctioned to some thirsty ass vampires.
Another loss of agency.)
do you remember...oh, fuck. i forgot myself. hold on....oh, yes! how i said it randomly occurs to random people? yes. erebus was a case. a very, very mild case touched by the manifestation. i was alerted of it and came to visit him. instead of killing him, i took it as an opportunity. i keep telling him to just die. to not suffer anymore. but he's so....stubborn? why? i still don't get it!! he's not going to have the eyes if he just dies. he's not human anymore! i don't get it.
you never will.
Aeron wants a power imbalance dynamic Eri can't bear.
that's why they're toxic old demon yaoi. /joke
erebus can manipulate people, and he can make people really, really confused on their reality. but he isn't there yet. once he gains control over his life and his being will these abilities be realized.
but that's the whole thing with erebus. the point of his character is that he is capable but he is too anxious, scared, or some other negative emotion to take that leap. just like i am. just like a lot of us are. sort of this fear of not being in control, the paranoia of not being in control. but he is. he can make those decisions. there comes anxiety with the consequences and the act of making the decisions as well.
aeron very explicitly states that he is willing to relinquish control from erebus. he already has. erebus has chosen to stay. their relationship is built on misunderstandings on both sides. there is a happy ending for them.
That's why he was so embarrassed about the player finding the corpse, and why he impulsively lashed out.
oh, 100%. 100000%. he's accidentally made people feel ways about him that reflect how he feels about them. once he saw a really hot guy, played a song, and the guy was like, feeling hot under the collar if you know what i mean. it's awkward. music makes us feel weird things.
So Silas did get the parasight from Delusion to use it for himself... previous conspiracy theory confirmed?
you know what makes me so mad about this? he found a victim of a randomly-gifted parasite and ripped everything out of their body, leaving them hollow, before i got there to tale care it.
i suppose it's good to know someone else is willing to do your dirty work.
i'm sorry, lucia. i wouldn't have brutalized you like that.
A fascination/aesthetic attraction towards Erebus at one point has been implied.)
i can confirm it was an aspect. they run around. billions of eyes in the cosmos. don't know how they get there. don't care. everyone's got them. genesis does too. stray tunes stuck in your head that you can't seem to get out. don't know where they come from. that's how lullabies are made.
One thing I will say though. Even if Aeron wasn't personally responsible for giving the parasight to Silas or playing the cruel prank on Erebus, mischief and unintended drama seems to be inherently bound up with every incarnation of theirs. Delusion is chaotic, a trickster god.
not my fault me and delusion itself like a little drama. we might be the same thing on different levels, but delusion gets frisky sometimes.
And begin to have their own inner nature supernaturally manifest.
erebus will try to cure it based on silas's notes. that does not go well. or...no. it doesn't go how you expect.
the afflicted, oh that beautiful thing....they're a novelty because no one has survived a spiral that long. again, a spiral is when someone suddenly realizes the constant perception from forces unknown, they go crazy and lash out at anything around them.
if i wasn't there to interfere, the afflicted would have died, and this wouldn't be an issue.
the longest anyone has survived with the parasite has been 5 days. at least, before it changes them. i wouldn't say you exactly die with it every time. sometimes you just become something different.
you know what i think the only solution is?
are you ready to experience your first death of hundreds, of thousands, my love?

“ But I had a nightmare... ” - a sad Lyra to Aeron
❝Still. You shouldn't be here, Lyra.❞
His little sister looked at him with her big sad eyes and he knew he would give up. He always did give up when she came in his bed in the middle of the night because she felt safer sleeping in his arms. But he still had to at least pretend to be stern about it. Lyra was way too soft to live in this realm. If someone found about her need of reassurance she would be punished and rejected. He did remember his own fear of spiders when he was little, and how his mother beat that fear out of him by locking him in room full of spiders for weeks. It did help him manage his fear, but he knew that Lyra would not handle this kind of exposure.
As a good fae, he shouldn't care. But Lyra seemed to escape his rules. So when her eyes started to water, he sighed and opened his arms. She jumped in and they laid down, looking at the celling. ❝Tomorrow I'm putting a double lock on my door.❞ He said for good measure. It was probably the 10th time he used this threat now.
❝What am I supposed to do when I have nightmares?❞
❝Go back to sleep.❞
❝That's easy for you to say. You can control dreams so you never have nightmares!❞ Lyra pouted and Aeron chuckled.
❝Other people's dream only. But anyway, what was your nightmare even about?❞
The little fae waited a bit before answering. ❝...About getting casted away.❞
Aeron stayed silent. It was a rather realistic nightmare, it could happen. It will probably happen. Aeron saw people way thougher than Lyra get cast away by his mother and uncle. He usually barely interracted with his potential siblings or cousins, not until they were a permanent member of the family. But Lyra was really persistent.
❝You have years before it happens.❞ He finally said.
❝Years won't change anything. I'm too weak.❞
❝Xanthe too. He's still there, isn't he?❞
❝Xanthe can create weapons that would decimate cities.❞
❝Maybe you could too.❞
❝I don't want to do that. I don't want to hurt people.❞
Aeron sighed. ❝Then yes. You'll be cast away.❞
He ignored his uneasy feeling. It was probably just something he ate. Gentle and soft faes were a myth, because in the real fairy world, they didn't last long. A weak royal household would be an abomination. Right?
❝Not if you're king...❞ Lyra spoke soflty, but Aeron groaned as he put a pillow on his head.
❝Not that again. We already talked about it, go to sleep before I knock you out.❞ But Lyra was already propped on her elbows, looking at him with a spark in her eyes.
❝You could, though!❞ She was maybe weak but she sure could bother someone to death. Perhaps she should bring that up to Morgana. ❝It doesn't have to be the elder. Syrus was the oldest and yet mother is the High Queen! Everybody knows she favors you, and you're the one who has fairy dust. You, not Rhys. Not any of us. You could be high king someday.❞
It was true enough that he was the favorite, and that in the matter of succession nothing was decided yet. Morgana let Rhysand believe he was the heir, but she was too manipulative to be trusted. As long as no crown prince was elected, nothing was set in stone.
❝And then what? Change the rules, make everyone happy and nice with each other?❞ Aeron almost laughed. This was a child's dream. A human child's, not a fae's. ❝This is not our customs, Lyra. It's nothing more than a fairytale.❞ He could see the irony in that.
❝Don't you want more, though? I know you're better than that. Deep down.❞
Aeron didn't think he was - he was thriving just well amist all the cruelty and chaos - but he knew where Lyra got this idea. So he looked at her, putting one hand in the back of her head to make sure she listened to him.
❝You forget two things. First of all, I have absolutely no intention of being king. This is the most boring job in the world.❞
❝You'd rather keep being a pirate?❞
❝Yes, actually. I'd barely be at court if it wasn't for Mother. Which brings me to the second point: this debate is pointless because Morgana Le Fey will never abdicate the throne. She has countless years in front of her, no one can touch her as long as she has the Spectre. She's just using the heir title as bait to manipulate us and Rhys, Aldris and Euphemia are too blind or stupid to realize they're being played and moved around her board as she sees fit. I don't want the throne, but even if I did, I'd never have it.❞
❝But-❞
❝No more buts. You go to sleep now. And tomorrow, you'll get back on the training field.❞
The girl wanted to protest, but Aeron discretly moved his hands to make the dust settle directly on her face. She was yawning already, and her body fell on the mattress. She asked, before falling asleep: ❝If I get cast away, could I come on your ship?❞
❝I don't think you'd like it very much there either.❞ He answered, but she was snoring already.
Aeron got up and carried her body accross the castle, all the way to her room. She wouldn't wake up, this time.
The next day, he installed the double lock. She'd resent him for it, probably wouldn't even talk to him for a bit, but eventually it was for her own good. Lyra had to learn how to toughen up. The thing was, Aeron was quite sure she didn't have it in her...

-> Question List
Answering for: Aeron
🩸 DROP OF BLOOD — what is your oc's blood type?
i think he'd probably be O. I know there's meaning behind blood types and all when in comes to characters sometimes but I'm not too familiar with it. (he could be B+ so he could make that one pun ehfsj)
🔺 RED TRIANGLE POINTED UP — does your oc know how to use any weapons?
He'd have a higher fatality risk if someone gave him a knife. lmao i do not trust this man with his life do not give him a gun. afhdsj in seriousness I think in desperate situations he can use a bat (it's just swinging anyway lmao) and can use any tool as a weapon if he hits hard enough owhfsj
😞 DISAPPOINTED FACE — does your oc attract others, or do they tend to be left alone?
yaaaaah he's a friendly looking guy, he gets approached a lot enough (could be both a good thing and a bad thing)
📚 BOOKS — what level of education has your oc most recently completed/is currently in (GED, undergraduate, grad school, phd, etc)?
uhhhh TVET (vocational school/college). whatever's enough for his construction job
🖊️ BALLPOINT PEN — does your oc have any tattoos? do they want any (more) tattoos?
This guy will never willingly let himself be near a needle for recreational purposes. if it's those stick-on things he'd maybe put one or two on his hand
💘 HEART WITH ARROW — what and/or who do(es) your oc consider the most important to them?
'the most important' would be difficult because I think he'd put Noctis, his family, his friends and various store/cafe vendors on different shelves that are levelled the same. I mean it'd be easy to just say Noctis and it wouldn't be wrong, but there's so many other things he prioritizes and cherishes all the same (which same goes for Noct who'd put her work and all the things she likes as very important to her, with the addition of Aeron lol)

What do you think about the greyjoys characters in the book?
Balon - I think he's an ass. That's really all there is to it, I just think he's an ass and I don't feel all that much about him.
Victarion - I'm gonna be honest I find Victarion to be extraordinarily fucking funny. He's stupid as all Hell and he's got levels of self delusion to rival Cersei, but with none of the gender issues that make Cersei toe the line between hilarious and heartbreaking, so he's just hilarious. Victarion's chapters are always a nice bit of breathing room for me because it's just him Being Victarion while everything else is getting dark and heavy.
Euron - As a person, Euron is godawful, as a person he's my least favorite Greyjoy just because of how horrendous of a person he is, he's so incredibly vile and evil that I want to beat him to death with a hammer. As a character, he's fantastic. He's genuinely scary (reading about him through Aeron's eyes can be honestly terrifying), and he's such a chaotic element that we haven't seen before. He's as unrepentant as the likes of Ramsay or Joffrey, but without their disorder, yet he's not as calculated politically as someone like Littlefinger, though he's certainly not a buffoon in that regard. He's got a plan, but it's crazy and no one's entirely sure what it is and he's definitely crazy but he's just got zero morals, no sense of anything other than what he wants, and he's definitely going to somehow raise up a giant fucking sea monster at some point. And also fuck the show for what they did to him.
Theon - He's an interesting one for me. Like most people I think, I found book 1 and 2 Theon to be completely insufferable. He's an asshole with delusions of grandeur and he's just kind of a dick who throws temper tantrums and cannot admit when he's wrong or doing something he shouldn't. His entire "Prince of Winterfell" arc is just being in the head of this annoying brat who wants me to feel bad for him cuz he murdered people and Daddy didn't love him, I just wanted to shake him and yell "grow up!". But now, I'm curious about Theon. We haven't actually seen a whole lot of Theon after ACOK, we've been seeing the war between Theon and Reek, and he's only recently managed to shake off some of that conditioning, but he's still fascinating from a character perspective. To have fallen so far and to watch him claw his way back up to being himself, to see how his experiences have shaped him, it makes me interested in seeing how he'll be in the last two books of the series (I'm keeping the faith that we'll get them one day). And how that relates to the story's overall themes of identity and the self is always very interesting to keep in mind when reading his chapters.
Asha - I like Asha, I think she's neat. Like, I genuinely enjoy her, I enjoy her character and I enjoy when her point of view chapters show up, I like her personality and her arc in the story thus far and I especially appreciate how unabashed she is. She's bold and she's willful and she's going to do her own thing no matter what anyone says, she's got a strong sense of self and a strong drive to do what she wants and how she sees things, without being reckless or stupid. She's earned what she has, the loyalty of people around her and the respect of her crew and the positions she has, and I like that. And I like her defiance of Westerosi gender roles, that she not just knows what she wants but what she doesn't want, and fuck society for trying to enforce that on her, she's going to live her life the way she sees fit. I'm rooting for Asha, I hope she gets everything she wants.
Aeron - Listen, I do not know why Aeron is such a top character for me. I don't know why he leaped out so strongly, but he did and I genuinely adore him. For one, his scenes in ACOK are incredibly fun, because Theon's just being a little asshole and Aeron is not taking it and just being the perennial straight man, which I love. And then once we get to learn more about him, I just...For one, Aeron, like a lot of my fave ASOIAF, tends to break the mold of what we tend to see from this world. A lot of POV characters in ASOIAF are situationally religious, they believe in the gods that they believe in because that's just the societal custom of the time and don't seem to actually feel all that much about faith, a lot of them bordering on being atheist. Aeron is one of the very, very few people who not alone believes in what he believes, but believes wholeheartedly, is incredibly and fiercely devout to his religion and lives his life in direct service to not only propagating the faith but also living by it himself as best he can (Melisandre's the only other character that fits that description, I think), and that's a new perspective we don't get in this series that I enjoy. Aeron's also an incredibly complex character that is fascinating to read about and think on. He started out as a fun loving guy, and then when he almost drowns he turns himself around and is incredibly serious about dedicating his life to being a priest of the Drowned God, and all the lifestyle and personality changes that entails. He doesn't do thing by halves, when he has goals he sticks to them no matter what, and he does have beliefs that he clings to wholeheartedly, not just his faith but also in genuinely wanting what's best for the Iron Islands and the Ironborn, the entire reason he calls the Kingsmoot is to make sure that Euron doesn't become king, oh Aeron. And there's a fierce heartbreak in his story, in what he went through at Euron's hands when he was just a kid, and how that's shaped him throughout his life, how he probably went with being amiable and debaucherous to try and cope with his trauma, and then turned completely to religion later on (that quote about him searching for the Drowned God within him when Euron wins the Kingsmoot and finding nothing, only the sound of the door hinge.........God it tears me up). And he won't compromise himself, he won't join Euron even to save himself, even when Euron's torturing him in the released TWOW chapters, he tries his hardest to stay true to himself. And even with all his seriousness and hardness and the fact that anyone who had to deal with Aeron dealt with as a child would be well within their rights to be incredibly embittered, he still tries to look out for people best as he can, not just his drowned men but even strangers, he does genuinely try to give Falia warning to get away from Euron as quickly as she can, even though Falia means nothing to him, just because he knows what Euron is. He's an incredibly fascinating and deeply tragic character and I am going to be weeping into my pillow when he dies.

Aeron/Falia
Post-Euron healing
There is seaweed in Falia's wet hair and a smear of blood across her right cheek from the gash at her temple. She's shaking - from the cold, fear, or both - as she presses against Aeron, still naked and wet, seeking some comfort in him that he is not certain he can offer. How they survived, he's not certain - a miracle of the Drowned God, surely - but they survived and that's all that seems to matter in that moment. She looks up at him with trusting dark eyes, and he gently brushes a lock of hair out of her face, hears himself say something about getting the cut on her face seen to, feels himself a man of flesh and hot blood for the first time in years...

One area where i think GRRM knocked it out of the park was showing both the glory and the pitfalls that come with organised religion and i really dislike it when people are like oh all the smartest people in Westeros are either atheists because the seven clearly dont exist or they follow the old gods or R’hllor because they can actually do stuff.
Like miracles and wonders and striking down your enemies is great but i dont think its the only point of religion either ASOIAF’s world or ours.
Aeron is my favourite example of this! He is clinging to the drowned god like a sailor clings to a shipwreck! Hes probably wrong about all of it! But seeing him after being imprisoned, tied to the prow of a ship and about to die as a sacrifice but still reaching out and saying “Falia Flowers. Have courage, girl! All this will be over soon, and we will feast together in the Drowned God’s watery halls.”
And im like oh yes, thats it, thats the point of religion.

@lilxmcrtes: ❛❛You're such a baby.❜❜ It sounded like an insult coming from him, a curse of his anger accustomed voice. Aeron laughed though. It was almost a giggle. Grinning, he wrapped his arms around her and hugged her close with a comical smooch to the cheek. ❛❛But you're my baby.❜❜ - [ I might be a little biased or whatever, making him affectionate and goofy, but I want him to have more soft moments so he will >:3 ]

------ TALKING TO AERON entailed a lot of things, depending on the mood. He was easy to irritate and so was Zelda; together they made a quite explosive match when they were arguing, but it also made the peaceful and sweet moments the more noticable.
Granted... Z's initial reaction was to open her mouth as she had a standard-retort already lurking on her tongue. ❛❛What did you just call me?❜❜ Aeron's laughing was what took her aback a little as it seemed a little rare, but the sound set off a small spark. A light blush painted her face when she turned to him with more to say. But by then, he'd already wrapped his arms around her. ❛❛Aeron❜❜, she groaned softly, but the moment he pressed his lips to her cheek, she wasn't able to keep a giggle in check. ❛❛Aeron! Stop... I'm not a baby!❜❜ Her arms snuck around his waist so he wouldn't get away that easily. BUT IN REALITY? She just loved to have him close. She grinned up at him with a challenging spark. ❛❛You're gonna say that again to my face? Huh? Come on, do it and see what happens.❜❜

💋 [ zelda would love a kiss from her boyfriend :3 ]

He could've just waited in the car for her. But Aeron didn't feel like waiting the extra few minutes it would take her to get in.
The place had a 'smoke-free' sign and even if there were hints of otherwise, he didn't want to be a dick. Instead he paced a bit with his hands shoved in his pockets.
Checking his watch for the time, there were seven minutes until Zelda was meant to be done for the day. He watched the seconds count up until they hit the next minute. Sighing, he rubbed at his tired eyes and lazily tried to fix the bedhead he'd ignored in his initial rush. Not quite time for a haircut, but he's thinking about it.
Hand back is his pocket, Aeron wandered over to a fence guardrail of some kind and leaned back against it. When it didn't give under his weight from being lodged in cement, he let himself relax against it. Though it didn't take long before he couldn't just stand like that and he started picking at a loose thread of his jeans. 56... 57... 58... 59...
Should be time now. He stared at the door.
Of course it's not like she would just appear at that exact moment, but he had been a little hopeful they wouldn't have held her up on whatever boring bullshit they could come up with. He continued picking at the thread until movement had him perking up.
Tumblr media
There were others that left but meeting Zelda's eyes, he grinned. He moved to close the distance between them, but slow enough for her to break away from her present company.
"I got your message." A voicemail she'd left for him this morning. Something so small that seemed to change most of his demeanor for the day.
"Come 'ere." Their lips molded together and he drew her closer by the waist with one arm. The kiss wasn't prolonged but certainly eager. When he leaned back he was still smiling, loosing his hold only enough for her to be comfortable. "I know you said tonight but someone wanted to swap shifts with me last minute so..." Cue his stomach. "Early dinner?"

"If they did, we'd be out of luck, wouldn't we?" Though Dove's words and smile seemed cheerful, as a Dark Knight - and even as a Rogue - they knew the fate they deserved, and would most likely find, wasn't a kind one. It didn't and wouldn't stop them, but they knew.

"I can't believe you just did that." - Aeron laughing with Zelda after she hurt his brother, not aware that Calypso was watching them
“I can't believe either.” Zelda laughed while shaking her hand to relief the pain.
Her heart was beating faster, –she wasn't sure if it was the rush of the adrenaline, or because she was near Aeron, that she did not see for years now– and her breathing was jerking. She was trying to collect herself, but it was hard after what happened. One of Aeron's brother –Rhys, if she remembered well– wanted to show her around, she did not want that, but Ursula and Viserys told her to be quite careful with offended the royal family, so she accepted. As soon as they left the ballroom, he tried a move on her. She politely rejected him, but the man did not seem to take rejection well. But Zelda wasn't the scared little girl that she was three years ago. She wasn't scared of much, –well, yes she was, but she was better at hiding it now– and more importantly, she knew how to defend herself when needed, and that's exactly what she did. Rhys probably did not expect the fragile little blonde girl to punch him as hard as she could in the jaw, making him bleed a little. The prince was ready to strike back, but he was stopped by Aeron, who witness the whole scene.
Now Rhys left with a brooding expression, and now the former pirate and Zelda were laughing at the situation. The girl jumped a little when he took her hand, and only when he did that, she noticed she was shaking. She wasn't sure why, but in any case, it stopped the moment she was in contact with Aeron's hand. The man was still distant though, after all she just punched his brother for daring touching her hair, what about him touching her hand? He was cautious, and that made Zelda smiled. He was just as she remembered; respectful of her boundaries. Without a warning, the elf came closer and hugged him so tight that it hurt, but she didn't care, and the fact that he hugged her back showed that he didn't care either.
“Wait, are you really here?” Aeron asked suddenly, making her frowned. He let go of her and took the girl's face in between his hands, as to make sure he wasn't dreaming. She laughed, and he smirked. “I missed the sound of your laugh.”
Following his words, the man hugged her again, and Zelda closed her eyes while putting her face on his neck, breathing his scent that she missed so much. They were far away from the sea and yet, the man smell like sea air, she did not know if it was magic, but in any case she enjoyed it. When the elf opened her eyes, right in front of her, a few miles down the hall, there was a brunette girl looking at her and Aeron, which made her frowned.
Calypso did not move. Her father, who was there for the special occasion, asked her where her husband was. She did not know, but she was curious. She looked all the ballroom, and it's when she saw Rhys coming from the hall that she thought to go there and what a surprise she had. The little mermaid witnessed all the scene. The laughters, the hugs, him cupping her face in his hands... Now, she felt her heartbreaking. It wasn't the first time she witnessed Aeron being affectionate with someone who wasn't her, in general she did not give a care in the world, but this time was different. She thought they were good. After all this time, he kissed her several nights ago, and she thought it meant something, but apparently she was a fool to believe it. The girl tried her best to not cry, which was hard when you have a broken heart.
Zelda finally felt uncomfortable with the angry and sad glare the unknown girl was giving her, so she let go of Aeron. He seemed a bit disappointed by that, but said nothing. Instead, as Zelda couldn't take her eyes off of something behind him, he looked away and saw his wife. As soon as Calypso's eyes met Aeron's one, the mermaid jumped a little before looking somewhere else and leaving as silently as she arrived.
“Who was she? And why does she look so... angry?”
“Oh, that's Calypso. Don't take it personally, she's just angry at me. She's always angry at me. She hates me, actually.”
“Why so?”
“Well, in her defence, I did initially kidnap her. But I never expected it to end up with us married.”
“I'm sorry, what? You kidnapped someone? No, more importantly, you are married?!”
To the last bit of information, the girl felt her heartbreaking. When she saw Aeron in the ballroom, her heart stopped beating and her face became red. The happiness of seeing him overshadow everything else, and she thought they will take things up again when they let them back on the ship. Was it foolish of her to think that in years of not seeing each other, things would stay the same nonetheless? Yes, probably. People moved on, people grew up, she knew that too well.
Aeron tried to take her hand again, but something inside Zelda made her stepped back, and by him frowning, she knew he was surprised by that. Now the elf was uncomfortable. She looked around, not able to look at him right now. He laughed, and this time, she was the one who frowned, surprised by his reaction. Aeron came a bit closer and took her hand, this time, she did not resist, she did not have it in her anyway.
“It's just a marriage of convenience, don't worry about that. But it's true, we have years to catch up... Come, let's dance, I'll explain everything to you.”
Zelda did not have time to say anything, and quite frankly, she wasn't sure she wanted to reject his offer. She was a curious girl, after all. So, a shy little smile on her face, she followed the prince, back to the ballroom where the reception was.

“ Tell me the truth, brothers; is she prettier than me? Yasmeen, do you think she's prettier than me? You all can say the truth I won't throw a fist. ” – Calypso to Blue and Malachai, then to Yasmeen about Zelda
Yasmeen shared a look with the brothers, who both seemed confused and taken by surprise by Calypso's question. She knew Calypso's brothers for long enough to know that, out of the two, only Blue could give an actually reassuring answer to his little sister. However, Yasmeen wouldn't count too much on it today. Ever since Zelda presented herself at court, Blue couldn't take his eyes off her. He seemed intrigued by her. Even at this moment, where the four of them were in a corner of the palace room, looking at Zelda talking with Aeron in the distance, Blue's eyes went to the claimed lost fae - Yasmeen didn't fully believe her. Something wasn't adding up. She didn't know why but she for sure would do a little digging and spying later.
"Hum, Blue ?" Kai asked, clearly not planning on his little brother's lack of response.
"Yeah? Oh right... Hum, you're both pretty I guess."
"What does that even mean?" Calypso protested, her voice rising. Even Yasmeen had to admit that this was a lame response - but in Blue's defense, he was busy fighting with his memories at the moment. Or rather his lack of.
"What our brother is saying..." Kai corrected, clearly pissed at Blue to have to be the one to find the right words to comfort Calypso "Is, why is this important to you?"
"I don't know. Just look at her. Ulla let her present herself as her daughter. She barely doesn't even admit we're family! What's so special about that girl?"
That was part of the problem of course. But Yasmeen knew that Calypso decided to omit the fact that she was equally annoyed by a certain fae prince freely laughing with that blonde girl, just a few meters from them.
"Just forget about Ursula already." Blue chipped in, his anger against the sea witch strong enough to make him forget about Zelda for a second. "She betrayed you in the worst way possible. She's not worth your affection."
"I know, but..."
"And look." Kai added, seconds away from regretting his input. "Your trash husband seems all over her. If he likes her, she can't be that pretty or interesting, right?"
"Wow. You're both completely useless, thanks!"
Calypso didn't even let them the time to react that she was gone, probably in the direction of her chambers. Kai seemed completely surprised and lost by this reaction. Blue too, but he quickly gathered himself to go talk to Zelda.
Yasmeen tried to hold back her laughter at the view of a completely confused Malachai, but she couldn't. He seemed to remember her presence at this moment. She had that effect most of the time, she was so silent that she could almost disappear. It served her a great deal, mostly to collect secrets.
"Did I say something wrong?" Kai asked her, clearly lost, which made Yasmeen laugh even more.
"Oh yes. But it was an honest mistake. You can't predict the effects of jealousy."
"That doesn't make any sense. Does she think Ulla chose Zelda because of her looks? I know my sister and-" Once again, he was cut by Yasmeen's laughter. "What is it??"
"Nothing. Men are so clueless, that's all."
"Well then tell me!"
"I'm sure you can figure it out by yourself. Right now, I have your little sister to comfort, since you both did such a terrible job."
With these words, Yasmeen left Kai to his confusion and went back to Calypso's quarters. She wondered if the mermaid was even aware of her own feelings for Aeron. She also wondered if those feelings were a good idea. Regardless, she knew deep down that there was more about Zelda that she let on. And she'll figure out the truth soon enough.
