Alnitak, Alnilam, and Mintaka!

They're the Descendants in the Isle of Dawn. Three friends that appear to be young men that are the self-proclaimed welcome committee of the isle. They all look up to Betelgeuse highly as a senior.

They are named after the three stars in the Orion Belt, and are themed after the three wise monkeys. Also, all of them are fluent in sign language!

Alnitak - "Hear no evil"

Alnitak is the most vocal of the group. He seems like a mischievous troublemaker, and he may talk bluntly, but he's actually pretty sweet. Sometimes he could be tactless but he almost always means well unless he thinks someone deserves the flak. Give him a ball of yarn and he's bound to knit you a warm sweater to cuddle in during the cold days.

Alnilam - "Speak no evil"

Alnilam seems to be the voice of reason of the group. He is hard of hearing and mute, so he mostly communicates via sign language. He can't produce honking sounds on his own, so he uses his own personal instrument to alert/detect other sky kids. He may seem intimidating at first since he appears serious, but he's kind! He's always up to lend a helping hand to those who need it.

Mintaka - "See no evil"

Mintaka is the quietest and shyest of the group. He often prefers to be on his own, but seemed to feel comfortable with his friends, Alnilam and Alnitak. He often appears aloof; unbeknownst to him, he has more than a few admirers from afar. Among the three, he's the first one to befriend Saiph because he's rather soft-spoken like a calm Rigel.

Douai, photos de nuit dans ma rue.

Je suis assez fier d'avoir pu enfin photographier à peu près passablement la superbe constellation d'Orion, au dessus des cheminées fumantes... Betelgeuse, Rigel, Bellatrix et les trois Alnilam, Alnitak et Mintaka...

Puis - j'ai fait ce que j'ai pu - Jupiter et 4 de ses plus gros satellites (lesquels précisément ? Je fais appel aux astronomes pour m'éclairer !)...

Ensuite, la Lune....

Et enfin, ma rue....pour revenir à Orion.

Sneak peak into something I’ve been working on

Author’s Note: it’s not a fan thing, it’s something of my own that I thought might be cool to share. Feedback appreciated, hope you like it.

Pandora, a girl whose name shows just how confident her parents were that she’d be trouble, was actually quite a surprise, in that, she was nothing of a surprise. You see she lived on (or rather near as the thing itself was uninhabitable to life as we know it) Alnilam, although most people get a better idea of where she lives when she says “Yeah, you see that middle star on Orion’s Belt? That’s where I live” and as an approximation, the statement wasn’t incorrect. Living in such a place seems exciting until you realise that the nearest shopping centre is near Iota Orionis B. Alnilam is, for the most part, just empty space, its sort of like living on the space prairie. Which is an odd comparison as there aren’t any cattle up there either. Maybe a better comparison is that it’s like empty space with a couple of really bright lights. Pandora didn’t know why her parents worried about her so much, it’s not like there was actually anything for her to do around here. She often found herself thinking, “what if I made there be something to do around here?” And such things like that. She was an ambitious girl by all accounts, no one doubted that she could do anything, for better or worse.
