In honor of the anniversary of the most unhinged shadowgast era, I present you the Timeloop-babygast-execution Au, where two mad lads run away from home (secret military underground bunker) and try their hands at murdering criminals (Caleb, their own father) and piss off a powerful dunamancer (Essek, their other father) enought to set up a timeloop none of them can escape (until they sit down and talk about their feelings/misunderstandings).
Many thanks to the amazing @flappingduster for joining in this madness, and  lending her babygast

Random Jason Hijinks I either wish would happen someday or find amusing to think about.
Rose and Jason break Eddie out of hell and steal his soul back from Neron. Jaime is dragged along by Rose because he and Eddie were “friends a few reboots ago”. Jason asked Roy who sent him Connor who is suffering™.
Pre-Red Hood Jason and Pre-Green Arrow Connor first meet up back when Jason was part of the All-Caste hunting a demon. It’s a one-shot adventure and the things you have to know are:
a) this is before Jason’s growth spurt so he’s over a head shorter than Connor.
b) Connor isn’t a cape so excuse him for not understanding demons and fucking up hilariously a few times.
c) When Jason tries to kill the demon who is possessing the human, he and Connor fight about it. The fight ends when the demon explodes out of the person like the Pus of Man from Dark Souls 3.
d) Talia is the one who finds and picks up Jason from the adventure (Connor thinks she’s his mom and Jason just didn’t inherit the melanin) and is also the one who gives Connor contact information for Jason because she wants him to have some sort of friend.
e) They never actually learned the other’s name so anytime they’d hear about Red Hood or Green Arrow they literally don’t know it’s that guy they met as teenagers.
Jason decides to actually dust off his mystic training when Dick walks in and Jason gets hit with so many bad vibes he’s genuinely worried something is wrong with Dick.
Jason: “Did they not fix the Brother Blood mind control thing fully? Did Raven miss something? Isn’t Dick friends with a million people? How have they all missed this????”
It ends with bringing Danny Chase back to life and the only person remotely happy about it is Jason and even that’s a stretch.
Rose, why are you part of the Wild Hunt?!!!
What do you mean Biz got taken by the fae?!
Roy, why is this werewolf saying he’s your husband?!
Eddie, why didn’t you tell me you were a prince of hell? What do you mean that one of Trigon’s sons is buried in Gotham?!!! No wait, you still haven’t told me how you’re a prince of hell!
Jason and Talia's road trip where Jason comes to the uncomfortable realization that he views Talia as a mother/aunt figure.
Bonus Artemis suffering Jason’s Mom Has it Going On.
Jason gets a new dog named Ellie and he loves her and Dog very much. What do you mean she’s a Blue Lantern!?
Ellie is short for Elpis and she’s absolutely Hope Corgi.
Roy finds out that he has a whole-ass checking account under one of his aliases that he never knew about. Turns out Jason created it for him years ago and Roy’s actually under W.E.  employed as an independent contractor and he’s been making 6 figures for years because Jason never bothered telling anyone that he still owns Wayne R&D.
Jason slowly but surely claims Park Row and the surrounding areas as his territory. It has the unforeseen consequence of magical folk moving into the neighborhood because Gotham is a nightmare to live in normally, Magic Gotham is even worse and the only people who can survive are big hitters like Blood, Zatanna, and Ivy or small fries like the kitchen witch near Leslie’s. Welcome to the big leagues, Jason.
Jason keeps getting mistaken for Jason Blood and it is annoying. One day some demon hunters threw something at Jason and did anyone know Jason used to be in heaven because he sure didn’t and these angel wings are a fucking nightmare.
Rose busts a gut laughing because she somehow became friends with the least demon-y demon Eddie and Jason as an angel.
Jason, Ivy, Sideways, and Impulse (Impulse voice: “Why am I even here?”) vs the Madness Wavelength in Arkham.
Jason kills Joker and finds out that he cannot. Not as in “He doesn’t die” or “There will be a new one” but a secret third option, “The universe literally resets the day every time he’s killed.” Instead of being a tragedy, it becomes a comedy as killing Joker slowly becomes Jason’s go-to when shit goes wrong/killing him is good stress relief. Stephanie discovers what happens because she’s had to write the same essay nine times once. Instead of being horrified they (and then Helena, Tim, Duke, etc.) make killing Joker a gag. The only ones not allowed to kill the Joker are Dick and Bruce because then the universe decides it’s the bad timeline instead of just resetting again.
Tim: *drops his latte on a hot guy and then embarrasses himself in public trying to apologize and becomes a meme.*
Tim: I guess I have to kill Joker now.
Jason and Kory remeeting and wow it’s really awkward that we only got close because of a universe meddler and then you dipped and never contacted me again even though I was a hundred percent serious that you were one of my first friends and are very important to me.
Oh no. Not the talking. Not communication! Kory take mercy on me and just drop me like a bad memory don’t have us open a dialogue where we reconcile all of the bullshit that happened to us and the fact that we did genuinely get close at very low points in our lives and be willing to try and be friends again!
Give! Kory! All! The! Friends! She doesn’t care if you think it’s a bad idea, it's her life!
Gotham Vigilante Tabletop Club (GVTC) featuring Jason, Tim, Stephanie, Duke, Helena, and Harper. They each get a turn as dm and every one of them brings in a different game.
Why is Damian’s friend (Colin) asking me for love advice? I’m a gay disaster ask anyone else please. ??? I guess I can try to help??? Who’s your crush?
It’s Lian and Jason regrets agreeing to help because Roy is going to murder him.
Countdown 2 Electric Boogaloo. Except for this time they were all shoved into the dimension separately and by separate events and there is no danger. It is just a multiversal road trip with the people who vexed you greatly but are slightly grown up now.
Bonus scene includes Jason’s gleeful face when he realizes he understands what all of those words Donna keeps muttering under her breath mean because Artemis was a bro and taught him Themysciran Greek.
#I didn't mean for all of them to sound like comedies but sometimes that just happens#People may hate on the all-caste for not being Jason enough or whatever#But have we ever stopped to think that Damian is related to an immortal cult and Duke is the son of an eldritch being#And Dick is related to an unrelated cult and just all the weird shit that happens in Gotham anyways?#Why can all these exist and Jason not also have mystic monk training he never uses#Listen I don't know much about Gotham's magic population but I'm pretty sure the place is awful to live in with the nine different curses#So having a dude that's basically a mage-killer claim a territory can only be a good thing for their safety#Plus I'm positive that magic folk would keep property values low because who would go looking for magic users in Park Row#Everyone was written terribly for rhato but Jason and Kory had the potential to be a really interesting relationship#Just this lack of judgement and ability to not have to shave down all of your sharp edges for one another#also I do really like the idea of them trying romance or sex and then deciding that they need friends more and then staying friends#Gotham Vigilante Tabletop Club my beloved#Look Duke and Tim canonically play tabletop games and if dc would finally acknowledge that Stephanie and Jason are nerds they would too#I miss Colin and the idea of him and Jason being disaster siblings or disaster guardian-child is important to me#I don't know if it's canon but considering linguistic drift Themyscira should either have its own language or dialect#and Donna should use it to say mean things under her breath#Jason Todd#I am not tagging anyone else their tags deserve to be Bat-Free#oh boy do I love how I can't make indents in even in html. Sorry for the eyesore whoever reads this mess

That Nasu interview where he said Soujuurou at the start of Mahoyo was the strongest among the Type-Moon boys is mistakenly interpreted by fans as meaning his incredibly secluded upbringing and complete lack of knowledge of the modern world meant he has Mystery in him or some shit when really it's because he's the only one that doesn't have something wrong with him.
Mikiya — Fell in love with the rich girl in his highschool class, both her and her male self straight up tell him "Dude we're a serial killer, we are totally going to kill you if you get too close to us" and he's just like "I don't know... I choose to believe you won't kill anybody. I don't have any rationale for this I'm just in love" and then he spends the next 5 years being attacked by ghosts, mages, cannibals, and his sister
Shiki — Has a brain of swiss cheese. Everything he knows is a lie. He's so attached to his childhood hero because Aoko unwittingly became the only memory his mind can actually rely on as true, a grand total of 2 weeks in his whole life.
Shirou — If you tied someone to a train track and went "chugga chugga choo choo" convincingly enough you could get this guy to jump with arms spread in front of a train that isn't there.
Soujuurou — There's nothing actually wrong with him he's just never seen a car in his life. You can tell him he could get sucked into a telephone if he isn't careful and he'd believe it because he has no reason not to.

Celarthur (Arthur x Celestine)
Arthur & Celestine's love is a core part of the story now. (I love them so much...)
Lady Celestine: Navigator of the Constellations: Celestine is the "Merlin" of the series but goes by "Merlyn" instead... I've discussed this in my previous posts, but basically, she was treated like a caged bird all her life (by the Ancients). Keeping her locked up in the temple so they could have exclusive use of her future vision.
Merlyn was Celestine's alter ego.
Whenever Celestine wanted to sneak out of the temple, she'd go out incognito as Merlyn. She became a vigilante of sorts, an outlaw to the G.S.A. but beloved by the people. Protecting the common people from monsters & fixing the destruction the war left...
But more importantly, she took this form to save Arthur...
Before he took the position, Sir Arthur was originally the right-hand man of Sir Uther, the first leader of the G.S.A. who was also his mentor... and he was a tyrant. Molding him in his image, Uther had trained Arthur to be the perfect soldier... a real killer. His most powerful chess piece...
Arthur had accepted all of it; this was his lot in life. He'd justify it in his head that it was all for the "greater good"... even though it was killing him on the inside. It seemed like that was the only path he could take. Uther's influence was slowly snuffing out all the light he had inside of him... he was an empty husk. That is... until a certain wizard entered the fray.
She'd appear before Arthur, popping up every chance she got to teach him morals, giving him life lessons, (low-key) making him her accomplice for her vigilante schemes: showing him he could be more than Uther's dirty henchman.
As time went on, she realized how similar they were to each other.
Arthur was forced to be this pillar of strength, the perfect soldier, as Uther's right-hand man. As for Celestine, she was forced to be this symbol of divinity and purity. But in reality, she was nothing more than a windup doll to be seen and not heard. She was able to be at ease with him, to truly be herself with him. (Even though she technically wasn't exactly herself...)
Celestine enjoyed watching him grow; she wanted him to succeed. His bitterness stemmed from his lack of self-worth and never feeling like he was enough. Ideas that had been planted in his head by Sir Uther ... At his core: Arthur was always this kind, gentle soul with a strong heart... His talents were just being used to serve such a selfish, heartless man (Sir Uther).
It made her all the more determined to bring out the best in him and show him all the wonders life had to offer. Bring back life into those cold, dead eyes of his. And those times she'd see Arthur enjoy himself and laugh (boy, did she love that laugh of his), those were the moments she fought for...
Soon, she genuinely started to believe in Arthur... even if she didn't have these visions of the future, she knew she'd still believe in the man who stood before her... soon another feeling came about... feeling she couldn't quite describe.
At first, Arthur hated the old wizard, tricking him, dragging him on these ludicrous misadventures. And yet, somehow he was able to defeat a seasoned warrior like himself. But what really ticked him... was when the old codger would claim that he saw visions of the future and had some "great destiny." (Utter nonsense)
These were delusions of an old man...or a mere trick to avoid arrest; he was just a soldier destined to die on the battlefield. This crazy magician was no better than his master... just another chess piece to him to help further his goal. The only reason he humored these "interactions" was because there was a chance to captured this dangerous rouge. But soon, he was able to see that the old mage really did genuinely care for him.
Merlyn would ask about his aspirations, his dreams even, and supported him like no one else did. And in times of trouble, he was always right on time to save him. But above all, Merlyn showed that his life mattered... he could make something of himself... whether he was a soldier or not. No one has ever cared or believed in him like that... he had someone that was there for him.
Arthur eventually grew attached to his eccentric teacher as well. Instinctively, he began to check around... if there was a chance that Merlyn was close by. Seeking out their guidance, desiring their teachings, and missing his company. Their lessons had given him hope; the darkness that once scorned his heart started to heal. For once in his life, he had a friend.
However, there was something oddly familiar about this magical mentor. Then, through a series of events; Arthur was able to figure out that Celestine was Merlyn. Of course, he was shocked, but he didn't care he'd found "Merlyn"... but made him curious as to why she did this... especially since the personas of the two were so different.
Around the same time, he was assigned to be Celestine's bodyguard. This allowed him to see her act as Lady Celestine, and she was just as trapped (in her role) as well. They are confined by the system that raised them. They were both being used and lied to by their master for their own benefit as the two of them suffered. (No wonder "Merlyn" could understand him so well...)
Celestine knew if they ever found out her real talents, the G.S.A & the Ancient would monopolize her abilities. She only ever showed them her future vision abilities & her forging powers (she was the blacksmith of the GSA). Which is why they never suspected her of being Merlyn. The Ancients were pleased with this... she was docile and easier to control.
But this safety net came at a price... Often overlooked and seen as useless by her peers. To Uther, her very existence was an insult to the rest of the heroes of Yore. She was weak and lacked any fighting abilities. Icarus loathed her: she rejected all his experiments (since they had to go through the temple, meaning her)... claiming they were dangerous. And she wouldn't allow him to experiment on the Fountain of Dreams. (I went into more detail in a previous post link here)...
Celestine knew they all thought lowly of her... she couldn't care less about what they thought about her. But their words and cold stares still hurt her; she tolerated it... but Arthur didn't.
Arthur knew the truth; she was Merlyn... the Merlyn. The great mage that had overpowered & outsmarted them all. It enraged him; he knew how capable & talented she really was. She was amazing... they never gave her a chance.
But he knew... even if she showed her true nature, they'd never accept her...that's why she had to create Merlyn...
After realizing this, Arthur tries to strike up a friendship with her as "Lady Celestine." However, when he'd talk to her, she'd only give polite & perfect answers (kind of like Princess Rona's guard acted in the anime). Celestine was in doll mode... it almost seemed as if she was lifeless. This saddened him greatly; in her eyes, the real her was begging to come out.
But Arthur knew the key to bringing out the real her...
One day, during some downtime, Arthur brought in a chess game for them. Hoping to bring out her competitive nature. As Merlyn, she could never say no to a challenge. The rush and thrill of the game consumed her; she showed him no mercy. Dropping the lady decorum, not realizing all her sassiness was spilling through.
After she had won the game, she couldn't help but gloat... needless to say, she was not so gracious in her victory. Arthur couldn't help but smile at the sight of this, "Aw, there she is..." As time went on, Arthur would do little like this that would encourage the real her to come out. It was always a triumph for him when the "Real Celestine" would come out. Her kookiness, her wittiness, her feistiness, her cute little quirks... he loved it all.
Prioritizing Celestine's comfort and happiness whenever he was with her. And would defend her honor every time she was insulted. (Even though he'd get in trouble sometimes, but he didn't care.) He just wanted to return the kindness she gave to him as Merlyn... by allowing her to be herself. (Needless to say, Arthur was pretty much smitten with her at this point.)
Meanwhile, Celestine started to become guilty of hiding her identity as Merlyn. She was becoming so close to him outside of her persona, and this didn't help her unknown feelings for him. And Arthur was being so sweet to her too... and here she was lying to him every day. It certainly didn't help these unknown feelings of hers.
(Good thing he already knows...)
However, this all comes to a head when Arthur saves "Merlyn" from nearly being captured by Sir Nonsurat. Arthur accidentally calls Celestine's name by mistake...whoops. And in that moment, Arthur lays all his cards out on the table. And even apologizing for his previous misjudging of her. Humbling himself before her, revealing his face to her for the first time.
Celestine was extremely proud of Arthur at this moment. The old Arthur would have turned her in without hesitation. To her, this was proof that Arthur had truly changed for the better. And his words touched her heart...
But she was very disappointed (not really) to find out that Arthur was handsome under there. When he was still a jerk, she'd always imagined him to have the ugliest face to match his horrible personality... like a toad (hence the nickname Wart).
Well, that image is shattered... She could still call him a "Prat," but... And she was so fond of the nickname... how was she supposed to call him Wart now?! Do you not see her dilemma?! (she still does, though it's... just more difficult to tease him now).
They return to the G.S.A. base only to find Sir Uther complaining how once again Merlyn had alluaded his grasp. Completely unaware that she was standing right behind him!
To this day, Arthur is the only one to ever find out about Merlyn's true identity. It was a secret that he & Celestine had shared: a secret that forever bonded them together... and before they knew it... they were already in love.
Fun facts / Inspo info/ more about Celarthur:
BTW...this is their theme Celathur:
I was listening to this the whole time I was creating this post; (feel free to reread the post while listening to this... <3)
Inspo/References:
The nicknames Celestine gives him (prat & wart) are a reference to Merlin (the TV series) - prat and the Once & Future King by T.H. White. (Book series & Radio drama) & the Disney movie "The Sword and the Stone". They were all my main inspiration when creating Lady Celestine overall. She's basically like Eclipsa from Star vs. the Forces of Evil.
Much like her counterpart (Disney & Book- Merlin), Celestine would put Arthur in scenarios where he had to be put in someone else shoes. Desperately trying to get Arthur to want better for himself.
But that sass comes from the ( Merlin TV series) and the banter between him and Arthur was my favorite part of the show. Their chemistry was so great... And did I ship Merthur (Arthur x Merlin)... yes I did!
The Once & Future King is my favorite retelling of the Arthurian legend if you want to listen to the Radio drama.
youtube
I got so much inspiration from this version... I highly recommend reading the book series. It's such a great read.
youtube
I also got Inspo from "The Legends of King Arthur."
Fun facts:
The vision that Celestine sees for Arthur is that he's supposed to be the match to spark the end of the dark era of the galaxy and bring forth the era of light. (Arthur is the match - Meta Knight is the spark- and Kirby is the light).
The reasons why the G.S.A called Merlyn an out law:
The Ancients regulated all magic users, and the very existence of Merlyn promoted wild magic. People would start to question their authority over it.
Sir Uther saw Merlyn as a threat; the public started to put their faith in this unregistered mage. It was the G.S.A.'s job to defend (monitor) the people. If they see Merlyn as their defender... he'd start to lose control over the public.
For Icarus, Merlyn was protecting civilians for free, which took away potential money. (Yep Icarus is the captilist)
This took so long to make because of Young Arthur's armor design (dang it, Arthur!)
About Celarthur:
Celestine's personality is very much a combination of the Disney Merlin & the TV series Merlin. She has a lot of silly quirks and bumbles and tends to lose herself when deep in thought about an idea(especially concerning her visions). She's a bit of a scatterbrain at times... But at her core, she's very wise and has a kind heart to guide her... and she had sass for days.
The name Merlin actually means Sea Fortress; which is why I gave her water powers (and bubble as well). Celestine would bubble Arthur when she was being particularly arrogant or annoying to her. To keep him in check... or to troll him (mostly that one).
Her foresight doesn't allow her to see everything (only seeing from point A to B)... and she doesn't see what happens in the middle. Which results in many of her spontaneous misadventures dragging Arthur in. "It'll all going to work out in the end, so let's just wing it... come on, prat!." Much to Arthur's annoyance... but of course, he eventually comes to love that about her.
Celestine's nicknames for Arthur: Wart, Prat, Golden Boy, and Art ( future nickname My King <3)
Arthur's nicknames for Celestine (& as Merlyn): Old codger, Wizard, Vicious Viper, Cel, Celty (future nickname My Queen <3)
Through all the telling and retelling of the Arthurian mythos, Merlin was always the one person to always believe in Arthur. He always pushed him to be better... to be the king he knew he could be.
I think that was the core reason why I chose to create a love story for Celestine & Arthur... Their dynamic: straight lace cop working for a corrupted system and is changed by a free-spirited vigilante...
Actually, I never planned to have a love story for Sir Arthur, but it was the best decision I ever made. NOW IT'S A CORE PART OF THE STORY AND I AM ONCE AGAIN MAKING MYSELF WEEP...
CELARTHUR EVERYBODY! ~

A big prosey ramble on Terzo, Omega, and messy love, because I haven't been able to get these two out of my head recently.
WC: 1k | Suggestive themes, complicated relationships, existentialism, dysfunctional family dynamics, hurt/comfort
Tumblr media
There's a pact one signs, once the Gate has been handed what it's due:
When the old tongue has been spoken, and the dark psalms sung; the Devil's touch fishhooked through a human eye, and its Sight wrenched to nothing, a blinding everything, an All few could endure;
Once the lines of the Undead have marked them: sanctioned them as the Unholy, the Half-Living, the Above and Below: draped them in silks fit for kings and gloves for killers;
A prophecy so ancient one could choke on the dust off its words.
Their fate will devour their Will, like a shark waiting to feed—and chain any of scrap of agency left, like a dog.
Few would dare to deny it.
Terzo, though, has never been one to play by the rules.
Even now—with the Sight of what is yet to come thorned about his mind: every rut and stone he could walk known as well as the blood-bitter sting of his own spite.
It's why he twists crowds around the points of his fingers, for those scant hours of freeness; hunts for lovers' touches in hands his rooms will rarely welcome again; wanders the paths of his own head more than the gravel beneath his feet.
Why the sight of his brother's summoned Unnamed—the First and the Last, the End All-Be All, the One (his One)—had left him stuttering on his heels.
He could see it. Hell beneath, see this:
The two of them, trapped in the maws of a forest fire; in a promised somethingness.
A path veering off course like a runaway train.
A doomed light at the end of a self-made tunnel.
And this—
(Demon-claws at his waist, his shirt shucked to the floor, the chain at his neck clapping to his skin like a noose—)
This is a loophole. Legalese in a contract penned in his own blood. A selfish want fueled by a hunger to be seen, to be known:
To be shoved back wontedly, greedily, in a music room spidered with dying light, and feel the brand of those otherworldly hands on him—thighs and ribs and lungs, dragged through the hair that silks down his stomach, through the beat-beating valley that puffs beside his heart:
To let himself shiver and sigh and roll his head back, bite down the burr behind his teeth, beg—
"Cardinal—"
A voice like Hell itself. The keyboard clanging beneath his hips.
"Come here," he growls back.
They shouldn't be doing this.
He knows the superstitions. Growing up in these halls had spoonfed him with it: the crumbling of the Gate that had nearly been; the fear that even lesser ghouls, under the right circumstances, could usurp the Exalted's power.
It had happened, once before. The Bloodline only had so much demon-magick in it, after all.
This one knows it, too.
"Cardinal."
He doesn't care. He's lightheaded. He's lonely.
The chipped varnish of the piano's edge whines beneath his nails.
"Shh—shh. Not here, eh? Not—ah—not now."
He wants to peel back the point of that silvered mask; to drown in those eyes, blue as the tainted Heavens. Wants to feel his teeth on his neck.
"Not—"
His fingertips stipple over Omega's shirt—and tug.
A switch flipped. A permission devoured.
That clawed hand plummets. Melts his breath to liquid. Sparks an addiction without a goddamned cure.
The first line crossed of countless.
(Countless more, now, and countless still—until Nihil Nihil always Nihil—
Don't think I don't know what you're doing. All the mages can damnwell smell it on you.
Terzo, fox-grinned, steel in his eyes: And?)
And maybe that's all it had started as. All it had ever been.
A middle finger jabbed in the face of their All-Father's millennium-soaked paranoia.
A foolish, spiteful clinging to a promise he'd already stripped from himself.
(If nothing else—even if the world burns—you can still have me. And I can still have you.
I can still have you. Can't I?)
So he'd thought.
Papa, now—and the world's a stage, burning, purple-bleeding-black, a stranger's hands combing through sweat-dampened hair on sheets that don't smell like him, and he shouldn't want it to. Saints, he shouldn't want it to.
But he's tired. His head is spinning. He's lonely.
"Papa?"
He brushes a callused thumb over their temple. "Shh—shh. Not here, mh?" His fingertips glide over the glitter at their back: splay a slow touch between their shoulders. "Not right now," he rumbles, eyes closed. Their hair tickles his mouth. "Not..."
Sometimes, these curious souls press, prod. Try to dig beneath the points of his own mask: to look for the man tucked away in the corner, that doesn't want to speak, to open his eyes from the lull they've found themselves in. Not yet.
This one doesn't.
After a long moment, Terzo sighs: a buoy their body floats on, weighs down like a blanket of sunlight, like lead. "How are you feeling, darling?" The words come lazy and low, tucked into the soft space behind their ear.
The breath he's given in response is boneless, satiated. "Good," they whisper.
He hums. "Good." His thumb skims over their temple, again. "Very good."
Another performance due, soon. Another mass; another ritual. The robes shaken off the floor, the paints reapplied, the stage a handful of moments without deafened expectation.
(Why do you care what he thinks? Omega had snuffed at him once, lounged out like a god in their dressing room.
Terzo hadn't been able to say it, then. Still couldn't, now.
That one day, his father's passive threat of this ghoul's banishment would come to fruition—one day, his reign would fall—one day, the only ones left would be the rat, and Sister, that old, bullish bastard, and he—
Satan. He'd always loved him, hadn't he?
Why do you care?
The doomed light at the end of the tunnel.
He'd twitched a half-painted smile. Looked away. Don't you know?)
"Terzo?"
He blinks. Dredges himself out of the paths of his own mind: focuses instead on the moon-silvered river of this priestess's fringe. Heat is still beaded between them, tacky where their hands shift. There's a trace of perfumed oil on their neck.
He noses further into it, lays down a kiss. "Mnh?"
Their fingers slide unhurriedly through his hair. Weave a gentle knot—and tug.
A switch flipped. A permission devoured.
He lays down another kiss, and another. Their breath melts to liquid beneath his hands. Sparks an addiction without a cure.
"Please," they hush. "Don't leave yet, please—"
His lips catch at the veins that flutter through their throat. His palms lost in the valleys of their waist. "I won't."
The touch of their mouth feels like love, almost. A flicker of soft lashes, bumped noses, lungs haggard and starved.
Their fingers scrape at his shoulders. Cling, and claw, and beg.
Against their lips, he gravels it again. "I won't."
Another line crossed of countless.

Some Lightcannon Headcanons
Just some thoughts re: these two idiots, specifically how I've been writing them in the Ill-Omen's fanfic series. YMMV, 'official' lore is pretty fuzzy with League stuff. LUX
Lux was expected from a young age to continue the Crownguard legacy in some fashion. With her brother captaining the Dauntless Vanguard, the possibility that he would Die in Glorious Battle leaving that branch of the Crownguard line without an heir would mean Lux stepping up.
Demacia seems fairly gender equal so there are plenty of ways she could do this. But if Garen were to die without issue, as the last remaining heir to that branch she'd have more pressure on her to Continue the Line through marriage and children on top of whatever else she was doing.
She is a trained diplomat and very good at putting her game face on. She usually expertly plays the sunny, charming young lady that has led her to be beloved across Demacia, but she uses so many different smiles she's literally numbered them in her head.
Like most good facades, it's not entirely inaccurate to who she is; Lux really does have a lot of warmth, compassion and idealism, but she isn't naive. She won't hesitate to manipulate people to her advantage if she needs to protect herself or a loved one, defuse a conflict, or deflect scrutiny.
Illuminators
As an Illuminator, she is officially a member of a charitable religious order responsible for helping the poor and downtrodden of Demacia. This is an aspect that Lux excels at, her natural empathy and ability to remain calm in the face of others' distress make her a natural carer.
The Illuminators also operate secretly as a spy network keeping tabs on outside threats to Demacia, including infiltration by old enemies like Noxus. Though young, Luxanna's political status as a Crownguard makes her a valued asset to the Order.
The Illuminators are also one of the few organizations in Demacia that tolerate and utilize mages, albeit discreetly and off the record. They are aware of Lux's abilities and have trained her to use them - covertly - in service of her country.
The Illuminators have on occasion acted to conceal and protect mages or smuggle them to safety, particularly those who might prove useful to their mission.
This puts them directly at odds with the Mageseeker order, (completely separate in my canon) who consider them bitter rivals and suspect, but cannot prove, that they aid mages in secret.
Like most oppressive regimes, the Mageseekers are giant hypocrites and use mages, brainwashed or tortured into compliance, as agents themselves.
In short; the Illuminators believe magic is a viable tool to protect Demacia if carefully shepherded and trained, Mageseekers believe magic is an abomination that must be suppressed or destroyed at all costs.
Lux has proven herself to the Order in several high-difficulty missions, including spying on the Noxian high command, primarily using her invisibility and light-bending powers to remain unseen and gather intel from a distance.
Though the Illuminators have kept Lux away from missions requiring seduction, to avoid 'sullying the Crownguard name', she has killed in the line of duty more than once.
Whilst not a frontline soldier like her brother, Lux has been trained since childhood like any Demacian noble in the warrior arts. She is adept with sword, staff, knife, bow, shield, lance and a deft rider.
She excels most at tactics and strategy; whilst Garen is a fearless and shrewd battlefield commander, Lux has a greater grasp of big-picture strategy and perceptive ability to read others.
She always beats him at strategic games.
Lux is a combat pragmatist. Her magical moves are dance-like and graceful, because when channeling her light she's accessing a transcendant mental space; her swordplay is more to-the-point, favoring strong defense and a quick end to the encounter.
She's not a natural killer, though she is as trained one; she'll kill in self-defense or duty, but she does not enjoy it and feels the weight of each life taken. She finds Jinx's aptitude for killing alarming, less out of moral judgment than out of fear that Jinx may lose herself in it if she goes too far.
Lux's strict, privileged upbringing, many duties, and the necessity of guarding herself from anyone discovering her magic have left her with very few actual, close friendships. She's often lonely, and whilst she's had a handful of unrequited crushes she's inexperienced with romance or relationships and feels like the Crownguard name intimidates away potential partners. She is quick with a smile but keeps people at arms' length for her own protection; with the weight of her name and her secrets on her small shoulders, Lux is slow to trust for very good reasons.

No offense but I'm impressed a lot of the main Lin Kuei are wearing these short ass sleeves given the Lin Kuei base is located in a cold place. Kuai and Bi-Han probably don't get cold easily so it's more understandable but you can't tell me Smoke, Sektor and Cyrax aren't freezing their asses off and having to wear to these ridiculously thin uniforms.
To be fair, we see human Cyrax, Sektor and Smoke operating only in tropical or relatively warm environments, like Shang Tsung’s Island and Outworld, not at the Lin Kuei Temple and each of them were prepared for a specific kind of mission. Cyrax and Sektor were hired to fight in one on one type of matches meanwhile Tomas accompanied Kuai Liang to find Bi-Han’s killer so Smoke and younger Sub-Zero worked under pressure of time, as they were running away from Lin Kuei and moving on enemy’s land. Because of that we may assume their uniforms were adjusted to their individual needs and preferences to optimize their comfort but that does not necessarily mean they would wear the same clothes in-between missions when stationed at Lin Kuei Temple.
Sektor, as born into clan, presumably grew up in the cold environment so his natural resistance to coldness may be better than Cyrax or Smoke and definitely better than average human being, but as various games showed, the majority of (no named) Lin Kuei warriors actually wear better protective, if not outright winter gear

so I don't think Sektor, Cyrax or Smoke would not be allowed to wear much warmer uniforms between missions and outside of training. The cryomancers though definitely are not bothered by the feel of coldness on their skin, so they may just wear the same type of clothes no matter where they are.
As for the MK1’s story mode, like literally no one cares about coldness, be it Earthrealm Champions or Edenians, but that one is the fault of game mechanics and visual storytelling for not including such issue. However chapter 1 and Sub-Zero's ending show that members of Lin Kuei (including MK1!Sektor) also wear long-sleeved uniforms in contrast to Bi-Han (cryomancer), Kuai Liang (pyromancer) and Tomas (mage(?)).

So, uh... how would the R&R boys react to finding out that MC is actually only half-human? I thought about this while reading bc I was on my Steven Universe brainrot at the time and thought about my mc being half-Gem. I wonder how would the story go and how the boys would take the information.
(They wouldn't have many sick and op abilities, just like... more endurance and a better healing factor, as well as Steven has. Boi literally never went to the hospital his whole life until the epilogue of the series)
You are a Mage by definition! A gem could easily be categorized as a subrace of monsters.
The guys would be surprised, but pleasantly so.
Killer is eager to see what you can do and encourages training sessions to find out and work on what all you can do. Honestly, he's like a kid at christmas Dust thinks it's kind of a fascinating manifestation of magic, and would like to help in a more subtle way than Killer. Working with you on easier little cantrips and stuff. Axe is just pleased that you're a mage in general. All of your abilities are awesome, but your durability is what makes him the happiest. It means he has less to worry about if you're in the field together. Cross, similar to Killer, insists on helping hone your abilities and figuring out what all you can and can't do. Durability and healing are fantastic boons that he'll push your limits on for sure. Baggs might need a little bit of care to be around. He's not dangerous by any means-- he won't hurt you-- but it's f a s c I n a t i n g to have a mage around that he can work with closely and study. He hasn't had the chance until now, really... And it's an opportunity he won't squander. He might... get a little invasive or pushy, but he's mostly harmless. Nightmare also insists on finding out the limits of what you can do. Mages are a rare asset, and your primary attributes make you a particularly valuable one to him. He's also the one who puts arguably the most effort into researching the specific background of your mage status-- the nature of your monster (read: gem) parent, what might come with that, he's delving wayyy into your background.

Dying was the easy part. Staying dead is another matter entirely.
In another life you were sanguine: one of many blood mages employed by a prominent family of vampires to clean up the kinds of messes human trafficking so often makes. It was a quiet, uncomplicated life until the day your father dumped you, drugged and bleeding, hours from home.
What should have been a death sentence becomes a path to a new life when you’re rescued by the owner of a queer nightclub who has supernatural secrets of her own. One year, a new gender, and a stolen identity later, and you’ve crafted a life that is truly your own. For this one moment your past is truly behind you.
Unfortunately, a new life doesn’t make old problems nonexistent.
When your existence is discovered by the son of the woman who wants you dead, the two of you strike a deal: your services in exchange for his silence. Years will pass before he calls in your debt, but when he does it sets off a chain reaction that threatens to destabilize the region, break centuries-old alliances, and ruin one very expensive wedding.

Sophia Durand
[ PREVIOUSLY DECEASED ]
You were once a prodigy training to succeed your father as one of the Corbeaus’ head mages. Now you work in a club, oftentimes cleaning up messes that aren’t much different from the life you lived before. You’ve found a family among the outcasts of a mundane world and will do anything in your power to keep this life from being threatened.
Meliza Flores
[ REAL-LIFE FAIRY GODMOTHER ]
A former associate of one of the organizations in the Corbeau’s criminal network, her story echoes the ordeal Sophia is facing when she arrives at Meliza’s nightclub, The Broken Crown. She’s now devoted herself to protecting those discarded by society, but her cause is threatened with the arrival of a face from Sophia’s past.
Alexandre Corbeau
[ MOMMY'S FAVORITE SOLDIER ]
A high-level enforcer within his family’s organization, Alexandre’s propensity for violence is well known. Despite this, and much to his own dismay, he falters when face to face with his father’s alleged killer. This chance encounter with Sophia raises
Jamie Saint-James
[ THE BIG BAD WOLF ]
The youngest of eight siblings and a disappointment to his famous parents, Jamie’s only worth comes in the form of his engagement to heiress Desiree Corbeau. Though neither party is particularly pleased with this arrangement, he’s happy enough to oblige. That is, until he meets Alexandre’s new girlfriend and uncertainties about his impending nuptials begin to grow.

What are your thoughts on Father Eiri and do you have any hopes for his future roles?
Eiri is a weird character I still don't really know what to think about or what to expect. He has three major interactions that define him, so I guess the best way to organize my thoughts about him is by looking over each of them one-by-one in isolation.
Relationship with the Aozaki family
Years ago, the young Eiri was practicing his swordsmanship secluded in the mountains and visited the Aozaki residence for some unelaborated part of his mental training under Grandpa's tutelage. He forged a genuine friendship with his mentor and became Touko's first love, until the day he destroyed Grandpa's body without warning.
Objective narration describes him as an automated killer who will cut anyone down if his buttons are pressed, with no need for a motive and no regard for his past together with his victim. And yet, his actions show nothing but care and empathy for the two Aozaki granddaughters. He offered to leave his entire life behind to run away to Mexico if Aoko felt too pressured by her sudden responsibilities as a mage. And his instant murder of his dear friend also happened in a moment Grandpa made Touko tear up.
Touko's first heartbreak was a consequence of her never entertaining the possibility that his actions were for her sake. Her subtle tear was the trigger. His explanation to her "Because I thought this was the moment when I could cut him". And then the narration clarifies that he didn't mean "I cut him because he showed an opening that made me feel confident I'd win". He meant "I cut him because this was when my emotions allowed me to". What's special about Eiri is that he does everything by his unfiltered impulses of emotion. (I'm pointing this out because the localization rendered this line as "I felt capable of killing him, so I did.", which completely misses the point of it)
Anyway, Eiri clearly cares about the Aozaki girls more than most things. He's defined by being capable of abandoning things without a second thought, but the times when we directly see him abandoning a friendship or offering to abandon his ties to Misaki Town, it's always because his heart places Touko or Aoko as a priority. He's not an ally in Mahoyo 1 because he values both sides of the conflict equally, but for the sequels, I can see him being a lot more proactively on Aoko's side.
Relationship with Alice
Mahoyo 1 establishes this as a major hook with him but doesn't elaborate much because it doesn't elaborate much on Alice in general. We know that in Mahoyo 1, Alice hates him and avoids the church as much as possible. However, in You Can Sleep But Not Laugh, set after Mahoyo 2, Eiri gets invited to Alice's birthday party, which elicits a "Why the hell did you invite your mother's killer?" reaction from Riddell. (I'm pointing this out because the localization rendered this line as the egregiously context-blind and non-commital "your parents' enemy", which turns a big off-hand reveal into a line that says nothing)
Their interactions in the funny murder mystery imply that Mahoyo 2 has a major moment where Alice gets to understand Eiri's thought processes and accepts the murder of her mother as justified to some extent. This is a fascinating development since Alice is so defined by her unwillingness to let go of what she likes.
Relationship with Soujuurou
This is the one interaction I see having a chance of already being concluded in the first game. Their thing is that these two guys are similar because of their shared "mountain boy raised as a killer" background. Eiri fully understands what Soujuurou is going through and tries to help with advice, but the only way Eiri knows how to offer advice is to point at the holes without telling how to patch them. It works with Souj because of their similar worldviews, but it's easy to see the source of his miscommunication problems with Alice and Touko.

I haven’t done a major tv watching update since last June. It almost feels overwhelming at this point but I really love writing down my thoughts. So I’ve decided to break it up into two posts. This post will be all of the shows I watched from June through December 2022.
finished:
The Uncanny Counter - A misfit teen is randomly chosen to join a group of demon hunters. A supernatural, found family, action adventure with heart.
Age of Youth (Hello My Twenties!) - An off-campus house for female college students as they navigate school, work, love, friendship and potential murder. Interesting characters but the plot is as messy as some of their rooms.
Link: Eat, Kill, Love - A chef develops a mysterious psychic connection with a young woman who enters his life causing him to feel all her turbulent emotions as he searches for his long lost twin sister. Another show that mixes love and murder. I love the main couple and all the food porn as the chef preps to open a new restaurant. Less happy about the murder plotline.
Abyss - I hate watched this for Ahn Hyo Seop. I’m a completionist. lol This is my lowest-rated kdrama so far.
Hotel Del Luna - A woman with a tragic past is magically tied to hotel for ghost on their way to the afterlife until a young man is summoned to fulfill his father’s debt to help her run the hotel and possibly set her free. A gender-swapped Beauty and the Beast retelling with ghosts.
I’m Not a Robot - A young chaebol with an allergy to humans is interested in financing a humanoid robot but, after a malfunction with the prototype, the scientist in charge recruits his ex-girlfriend to pose as the robot until it’s fixed. Enemies to lovers and star-crossed lovers as their fates align to heal their wounds and let their love blossom. I’ve watched it twice so far.
Extraordinary Attorney Woo - An autistic attorney fresh out of school joins her first law firm as she struggles to pursue her career and unexpectedly falls in love. Cute and heartwarming.
Café Minamdang - A former profiler becomes a shaman to investigate his friend’s death and runs into his friend’s sister who is searching for the truth herself. Even Seo In Guk couldn’t save this mess.
Alchemy of Souls - An assassin magically swaps bodies to stay alive and is secretly recruited to train a young mage and unlock his powers. This show is a Top 3 Kdrama for me. I LOVE IT. Fantasy, Romance, Humor, Action, Symbolism. A great ensemble cast but Lee Jae Wook really carries this drama. The ride or die main ship is everything.
While You Were Sleeping - Three people’s fates are tied together as they try to stop the bad premonitions they have from happening. It got a little cumbersome every time a new bad potential thing was revealed but I love the cast: Lee Jong Suk, Bae Suzy, Jung Hae In.
Never Have I Ever (S3) - This show is still firing on all cylinders and I’m here for the ride. Can’t wait for the finale season.
Pinocchio - A boy who lost his family in a tragedy gets adopted into a family that has a girl his own age who can’t lie. They grow up to be reporters to uncover the truth of everyday events and their simmering feelings for each other. I really enjoyed the found family, mystery and romance here.
Reacher - A lone wolf stumbles into a small town murder that hits closer to home that he could expect. A fun mystery and action jaunt through the countryside.
Dali and the Cocky Prince - A boisterous uncultured business man with alot of bravado crosses paths with a reserved art gallery director looking for investors. A sweet romance blossoms and the meaning of real family is explored. There was a lot of great comedy and romance but also some gut wrenching drama.
Little Women - Three sisters get entangled in a web of conspiracy surrounding a secret organization. There were some interesting things here but I was mostly bored.
Flower of Evil - A man who may be a serial killer and his wife who’s investigating the decades old murders as the truth slowly unravels their relationship. Sadly, this wasn’t for me. There were a few things that were interesting but again mostly bored. Also, when we got to the end I had the epiphany that I’ve seen this story before and I have: Fringe Season 3 Episode 2 is basically the whole main plot in one episode.
The Law Cafe - Two longtime but estranged friends end up using their law degrees to help everyday folks and go up against a big corporation together as they finally allow the sparks between them to ignite. A really cute romance with a few good cases but the overall show is a bit lacking.
W: Two Worlds - Fiction and reality begin to blend as the daughter of a comic book author is sucked into her father’s popular comic and is thrust into the life of the main character, a handsome adventurous CEO. An interesting premise with excellent chemistry between the leads, but gets repetitive in the second half and stunts the growth of our leads.
Love Between Fairy and Devil - My first cdrama and already one of my favorite shows ever! It’s literally a fairy tale with amazing bickering enemy to lovers leads, gorgeous costumes, sets and vfx, and a fantastic story with great foreshadowing, parallels and symbolism that pays off. I’m currently on my 5th rewatch. I regret nothing.
Star Trek: Picard (S1 & S2) - While I’m happy to see the og characters back on my screen and get to know a few new ones, I had major but differing issues for both of these seasons of Picard.
Bad Prosecutor - While I really like Do Kyung Soo and Lee Se Hee, the story was rather flat. Even the action couldn’t save it.
What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim - I now understand the hype for Park Seo Joon and Park Min Young. They are fantastic in their roles of chaebol and his assistant falling in love. I really enjoyed it but there was something I couldn’t put my finger on that held me back from loving it.
Kiss Goblin - I wanted to watch Bae In Hyuk in something while I was waiting for new episodes of Cheer Up. This cute web series was the perfect little show to get my fix.
Do You Like Brahms? - Park Eun Bin and Kim Min Jae star as a pair of introverted classical musicians with their own set of problems that find light in each other to grow in confidence as their relationship progresses. This is a very low-key show but it kept my attention throughout.
Fanletter, Please - A cute romcom mini-series about a widower, his ailing daughter, and the actress the daughter adores, who comes to visit the hospital where she’s being treated.
Cheer Up - If Bring It On was slightly more realistic and set in college but upped the spirit stick curse to a “someone will die” slasher movie prophecy. I loved the team spirit and the romance between the plucky yet reluctant new recruit and the practical dreamer Team Captain. There were a few things I wasn’t crazy about but I had a fun time.
May I Help You - If Lee Junyoung is in it, I will eventually watch it. lol This is about a young woman who gets the power to talk with the dead in the funeral parlor she works in to help them fix something they didn’t accomplish in their life. She keeps crossing path with a young man who works for an errand service company. As they fall in love, past secrets and present heartbreaks unfold putting their relationship to the test. I had a really good time until the last few episodes but it did end well.
Summer Strike - Another love story for introverts. A depressed city dweller decides to sell all her possessions that don’t fit in her backpack and travel the country. She lands in a small town, where she begins to heal as she’s slowly creates a new family for herself and falls in love with the local reclusive librarian who is a former math wiz, played by Im Siwan. This one was tough at times but very sweet too. Plus a great soundtrack. I had ‘Color’ by Sunnie on repeat.
Love is for Suckers - A variety show producer convinces her longtime friend to be a contestant on the dating show she’s producing right as they start to realize they are in deeply in love with each other. This had so much potential and started off strong but quickly became a mess when the dating show began filming. The romance between chef and the cartoonist kinda ended up stealing the show.

Inkpot Gods
Well its finally here my first chapter of my The Witcher fic! It is a Female reader insert fic. You are a princess of a kingdom being plagued by a creature. Your father has hired a semi willing Geralt to not only get rid of the creature but to protect you. AO3 link is here moodboard made by the lovely @sweetpeapod
Tumblr media
Jaskier groaned, "Why are we going to Eirian again? I didn't think they had any monsters there."
"Hmmm." Was Geralt's only response to the bards rambling.
"Seriously Geralt, some background would be nice. I want to know what we are getting ourselves into. You just barged into the inn I was playing at, and demanded I join you in this quest. What is going on?"
Geralt glared at Jaskier, "I have received a letter from the king. His daughter is supposedly in danger. I'm not sure what kind of danger, but he has offered to pay handsomely for my services."
"How heroic! Geralt saving a princess! I can't wait to tell this story!"
Geralt rolled his eyes at the bard before resuming his silent thoughts. He had never gotten a request like this. He wasn't a savior, he was a monster killer. Was it really wise to have Jaskier with him? He was known for wooing women. But, the King and Queen had asked for him specifically to be with Geralt.
"Seriously boys you are going to Eirian as well?" An all too familiar female voice inquired.
"Yen? What are you doing here?"
"Yes seriously, witch, what are you doing here?" Jaskier echoed Geralt's question.
"The Queen of Eirian has asked me to look after her daughter. She believes that the princess may have hints of chaos magic."
"So? Deal with her chaos magic after we get rid of whatever the king wants Geralt to protect her from." Jaskier huffed.
"Sorry bard you are stuck with me. Though it leads me to wonder why you are here?"
"Enough, both of you. Like it or not the king and queen of Eirian want us all. We will find out why when we get there." Geralt groaned longing for silence.
Jaskier and Yennefer both gave each other a glare but opted to follow in silence.
It took them almost seven days to reach Eirian from where they had been. During that time, Geralt made sure to find them a safe place to regroup should they become separated. As they got neared the kingdom, the glittering castle could be seen from miles away. Geralt watched and shook his head as Jaskier was almost jumping with joy ready for a warm meal and a cozy bed to lay on.
*************
"My lord and my lady, the witcher, the mage, and the bard have been seen approaching the city." A castle guard said kneeling in front of the king and queen.
"Thank you." The Queen said dismissing the guard before turning to a servant, "make sure everything is ready. We are to have a grand feast tonight."
"A grand feast? What for?" You inquire, appearing next to your mother.
"We will have Geralt of Rivia here along with some friends of his." Your mother replied.
You groan, you know you're stronger than what your parents believe you to be. Your father had the general train you in sword fighting from the time you were a small child. Whatever this creature was that was out to get you, was nothing you couldn't handle.
"Mom really?"
"Stop your groaning, and go get dressed y/n. They will be here by dinner."
"Yes mother." You say as you curtsy before turning away and rolling your eyes.
You begin to wonder if it's not just for your safety, but if your parents were trying to set you up for a marriage again. They had always been intrigued by that prophecy.
***********
As nightfall hit, Geralt, Jaskier, and Yennefer made their way into the palace.
"Hello, our esteemed guests, welcome to Eirian." The king greeted them at the castle door before he gestured them into the banquet hall.
"It smells so good." Jaskier said, almost visibly drooling.
Neither Geralt nor Yennefer said anything as they made their way inside. The room was filled to the brim with people in dresses and nice clothes laughing and dancing. Everyone stopped and bowed to the king as he guided the group towards the head table. Whispers could be heard among the crowd as everyone wondered why a witcher was there, and who these other two people were.
"My love, and my daughter, this is Geralt of Rivia, he is here to help."
"Pleasure to meet you. May I inquire as to who is with you." You ask, looking both men up and down.
"Princess, this is Jaskier, he is one of my most trusted friends and allies. Next to me is Yennefer. She told me she had a summons to come here." Geralt grunted.
"Yes she did. I asked her to come here. Geralt and Yennefer, if the king and I may speak to you in private about why you are here. Darling, make sure Jaskier gets some food and whatever else he requires." The Queen placed a gentle hand on her husband's back and motioned to Geralt and Yennefer to follow.
Your mother gave you a stern glare after she heard your sigh of protest. Rolling your eyes, you stood up and made your way down to Jaskier. You could practically see the hunger in the man's bright blue eyes.
"Come sit with me…Jaskier was it? We have plenty of food."
"Oh thank you! Geralt seems to forget that eating is a necessary thing." Jaskier replied, following the beautiful princess to the table.
He was stunned by her beauty, and the way her eyes shone in the light. He was taken aback by the way that beautiful red dress fell against her body.
You both sat down where you watched the man eat while waiting patiently for your parents. As if he knew you were watching, he looks up and smiles at you with an almost devilish grin.
"So, why exactly is Geralt wanted here? It seems like a lovely kingdom to me." He inquires, leaning in close to you.
"I'm not really supposed to talk about it. But essentially there is supposedly a creature that has been plaguing the land. Mom and dad believe it may be after me now. That's all I'll say. What exactly do you do?" You inquire, noticing the lute sitting by his feet.
"Oh, I'm just a bard. Not really sure why Geralt brought me along. He doesn't even like my music." Jaskier scoffed.
"Ah a bard. Wait...I've heard of you. Aren't you the bard that goes from town to town wooing women and leaving them for that brooding witcher?"
"Hey! I don't go from town to town wooing and using women! Or abandoning them for Geralt!" Jaskier replied, looking hurt.
You give him a skeptical look. Before you could answer, one of the princes approached the table and asked you for a dance.
Jaskier watched you as you accepted, and made your way to the dance floor. He groaned and looked at the plate of food in front of him, no longer really hungry. If the King and Queen wouldn't tell him what was going on, why was he wanted here?
She is so beautiful…how can I show her that I am not as bad as she has heard? But even if I could, why would she want just a bard when she could have a prince? Jaskier thought to himself as he watched the princess dance and laugh.
***********
"So what is this creature you have hired me to take care of?" Geralt asked.
"Well we believe we are being plagued by a shapeshifter. The village has been complaining about seeing long dead relatives. Or strange creatures that are beyond belief. Some say they have even seen themselves." The King responded.
"Hmmmm"
"A shapeshifter really? That could be hard for us to track. What makes you think it's after your daughter?" Yennefer replied.
"We think she may have some powers that she's not completely aware of. That is why I wanted you here, Yennefer, as you are a very powerful sorceress. I fear the shapeshifter may want her powers." The Queen responded.
"What forms has it been known to take? What times of the day has it been seen?" Geralt chimed in.
"You would need to go back into the party and mingle with the guests, or let them come to you. They haven't really told us. All we know is that there is something plaguing our village. Please, you must help us." The Queen begged.
"I'm going to give you the payment now and more. Geralt of Rivia all I ask is if you cannot defeat this monster, that you will keep my daughter safe. I've heard tales of a possible ambush or attack as well. Please save her." The king pleaded, handing Geralt the money.
The Queen handed Yennefer the payment she promised her, "Yes you as well my dear. Keep her safe and if she has powers, do not let anyone take advantage of them."
"I will do my best. Well Geralt, shall we head back to the party?" Yennefer asked before turning and making her way out into the group of dancing people.
Geralt sighed and followed her. His eyes immediately began looking for Jaskier since the bard was last seen with the princess. After a moment he saw him sitting alone with a sad look on his face. He followed Jaskier's gaze, and found them locked on the princess who was dancing around the room with a tall man. The hair stood up on Geralt's neck…he knew that man...that man should be dead. He made his way over to Jaskier.
"What happened?" Geralt asked.
"She doesn't even know me and has bad thoughts about me! Basically said I leave women for you! As if those relationships just don't work on their own!" Jaskier huffed.
Geralt gave Jaskier a skeptical look and tried not to laugh.
"Has she been dancing with the same man this whole time?"
"I don't use women, I just haven't found the right one! Oh, uh, I'm not sure. I don't think that was the man she started off with."
"Hmmmm" Geralt's eyes landed back on the princess only to find that she had stopped dancing, and was approaching him.
"Geralt of Rivia pleasure to meet you properly. I'm y/n." You say with a mischievous grin.
"Was that man the same one you've been dancing with this whole time?"
"Oh, um, I believe so. Why?"
"You believe so, or you know so?"
"It was a dance! I may have ended up with someone else! I can't really say. Honestly no, that probably was a different man!" You huffed before turning away from the witcher and going over to see your parents.
"What's happening Geralt? Why are you so worried about who she was dancing with?" Jaskier inquired suddenly appearing next to Geralt.
"Stay close to her, Jaskier. Try not to lose sight of her. If you do, come and get me immediately."
"But Geralt…won't it be weird if I just hover over…" Jaskier stuttered.
"You are an entertainer are you not? Play some music. Talk about your songs. I don't care, just keep an eye on her!"
Jaskier nodded and sulked away towards the king and queen. Geralt shook his head uncertain if it was a good idea having Jaskier keeping an eye on the princess, but he didn't have much choice. He made his way into the crowd looking again for that face. It had to have been the face of the man that he had killed trying to defend Ciri. Geralt knew he couldn't get that face out of his mind, ever, but perhaps he had imagined it this time.
“Any luck yet?” Yennefer inquired, appearing in front of him suddenly.
“No…though I swear I saw that Nilfgaardian soldier that tried to kill Ciri a few years back.”
"Wait, you mean the one you killed? How is that possible?".
Geralt gave Yennefer a stern look before continuing to move through the crowd keeping a watchful eye out.
"Do you think she's really safe with Jaskier? Shouldn't we tell him so he can be on guard?" Yennefer stated, finally seeing Jaskier with the royal family.
"Yen…I trust him. He is honestly probably safer with her than she is with him. I've heard she is a formidable fighter."
Yennefer sighed, but before she could explain, a loud boom could be heard outside. They both looked at each other and then back towards Jaskier and the royal family.
The king looked at Geralt with a worried look on his face. Geralt made his way to the nearest window and looked out. He saw all the soldiers running towards the gate, meaning someone was trying to break in.
"The castle is under siege! Everyone should get out!" Yennefer shouted, as she appeared next to Geralt and saw what was happening outside
Immediately, people began to scream, and start to panic. Geralt gave Yennefer a cold glare before making his way over to where the royal family still stood.
"We need to go now. You have a small amount of time. If you'd like to pack a few belongings you better hurry."
The Queen put a gentle hand on the princess's back, and urged her to go pack her stuff. Geralt nodded at Jaskier signaling he wanted him to follow and make sure nothing happened to her.
*********
The king went off to fight with his men, and make sure the castle was secure. Geralt wasn't entirely sure where the queen had gone, but he knew his main charge was the princess. He had Jaskier and the princess meet him in the servants quarters to avoid detection.
"Alright, no matter what happens be suspicious of everyone. Your parents have told me they believe the main enemy is a shapeshifter. We aren't sure but it seems to be true." Geralt told them.
You roll your eyes, not really convinced there was truly any danger outside of the army trying to bust through the gate. But you follow Geralt out to the hallway. You gasp as you pass a window and see the battle that was unfolding below. Jaskier gently pulls on your black cape draped across your shoulders, encouraging you to keep following Geralt.
"I can help fight. Please let me go help them." You whisper to Jaskier.
He looks at you with the biggest blue eyes you've ever seen, even in this dark room. You know his answer before he can even say it. Nodding solemnly you go to follow Geralt but he had disappeared from your sight. You both look at each other, when you hear a grunt of pain that you knew was Geralts.
Quickly, you run towards the scuffle, curious. Just as you get closer, you hear a malicious laugh, and see Geralt's body flying towards you. You flatten yourself against the wall trying to avoid being hit.
Geralt stands up as his eyes land on you, he grabs you by the arm dragging you down the hall, "there is a dangerous creature up ahead. I need to fight it off. You both will need to find a way out on your own."
Without warning Geralt practically throws you into Jaskier's arms. You brace yourself against the bard's chest, thankful he was strong enough to catch you.
"I can help you fight this creature, let me do it!" You turn away from Jaskier and yell at Geralt, Jaskier held on to your waist, preventing you from running towards Geralt.
"No! You need to get out of here. Whatever it is, it's after you. Now go! Jaskier, you know where to take her!" Geralt shouted running back down the hall.
"Come on, he's right. Where do we go to get out of here?" Jaskier asked, gently pulling you by your waist back in the opposite direction.
You tried to struggle free of his grip, but he was too strong. Realizing it was futile you gave in, but you knew you had to get yourself some form of weapon to defend yourself so you led him to the armory.
"Wait…this isn't an exit. What are we doing here?" Jaskier inquired, as he stopped in the doorway.
"Well we need weapons, there's an army outside, and apparently creatures running around this castle!"
You wander for a moment, knowing which weapons you wanted.
"I'm just a bard…"
Using all your strength you jump up to the two swords hanging on the wall, and force them down. They clatter to the floor. You grab them and hand one to Jaskier.
"Do you expect to save me with the lute on your back? Trust me, just wave it around, and make it look like you know what you are doing. If we survive, I can give you a proper lesson if you'd like."
Jaskier tried not to blush as you grabbed his hand, and showed him the way out to the courtyard.
"This has been way too easy. I feel we should have run into someone by now." Jaskier said, looking nervously around the courtyard.
"Everyone must be by the gate fighting. We need to find horses or something. It's not practical to keep running." You say immediately heading towards the stables.
Without warning, a powerful blow knocked you off your feet. Gasping for breath you turn and see a soldier coming towards you,  his sword drawn and shield in front of him.
"Ah princess (y/f/n), there you are." The soldier sneered, he was clearly wearing the Nilfgaard colors.
Jaskier firmly planted himself between you and the soldier. Knowing he wasn't quite able to fight off the soldier, you quickly stood up, ignoring the pain that coursed through your body, and moved to stand next to him.
"What do you want with me?" You inquire.
"Oh, I'm sure you know why we are here. You need to marry the prince, and ensure our kingdom's safety with your…powers."
"No!" the king shouted, coming from nowhere.
"Father!" You shout watching your father knock the soldier across the head, and watch in horror as the soldier falls to the ground.
"He's only unconscious. You need to leave now. Both of you! Get out of here!" Your father said.
You start sobbing, and go to argue with your father. Before you can, he shakes his head and drags the unconscious soldier out of sight. Jaskier puts a comforting hand on your shoulder as he gently pulls you towards the stable. Once in the stable, luck was on your side as you both saw the horse.
"Only one…what shall we do." Jaskier wonders aloud.
"Guess we will have to share. Get on." You say trying to mount the horse when a sudden pain in your side from where the soldier hit you, caused you to fall to the ground in pain.
"Y/n!" Jaskier shouts running to your side.
You glance down and see some blood on your light pink dress.
"The soldier must have hit me harder than I thought." You say grasping your side.
You could hear shouts from near the stable. Jaskier looks at you in fear before he picks you up off the floor. You both work together to get you situated on the saddle, Jaskier following to sit behind you.
He wrapped one of his arms around you holding you close to him to make sure you stayed on the saddle. Ignoring the surge of feelings, and pain you felt and also the shock of how strong Jaskier was, you grab the reins and navigate the horse out into the woods as fast as you can.
"Where is this meeting place Geralt wants you to take me?" You inquire when you feel far enough out of harm's way.
"Give me the reins. It's not far." Jaskier leans into, you gently taking the reins from you.
You lean against Jaskiers chest and try to process all that has happened. Your whole body ached from the soldier hitting you, probably with his shield, and you worried about why you were bleeding. But that was almost irrelevant as the pain of knowing your family was probably dead, swept through you.
What did that Nilfgaardian soldier want? What did the creature Geralt had been fighting, want with you? You knew you had powers, but you didn't think they were anything worth all of this madness.
Jaskier must have known all your emotions were hitting you, because he used the arm he had wrapped around to give you a slight squeeze.
"It'll be okay we are nearly there. Then I will make sure that soldier didn't injure you too badly. You've been through a lot, please talk to me if you need to." Jaskier whispered in your ear.
You gently put your hand on the arm that is holding you. As much as you want to spill your heart and emotions out to him, right now wasn't the time to do it.
"You're a bard, right? Sing me a song if you don't mind. I just want a distraction. Or tell me a story if you'd rather not sing. Please."
Jaskier smiled, and told you a story about how he met Geralt and the adventure they went on.
You were uncertain how true it was, but just hearing his voice was calming you. It lead you to wonder if the prophecy your mother had told you about was possibly true, and if Jaskier was the man in it. All of a sudden, a sharp pain seized your body and you fell unconscious against Jaskier.

HARBINGER FANTASY AU SYNOPSIS ♡ ♡
the story takes place in an isolated kingdom — (name) is a member of the royal family, the child of the king and queen. although they live a relatively sheltered life, there are a number of curious characters they find present in it too... and perhaps there may be a chance for them to get to know these individuals a little better, if that's what they truly desire?
gn!royalty!reader // general warnings for violence and questionable morality (i mean, it's the harbingers. is anyone surprised?)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
THE KNIGHT'S NEW RECRUIT // childe
— the royal guard's most promising new recruit. his origins are rather mysterious, and some claim there's something a little off about him, but there's no denying his battle prowess. his thirst for blood makes him a ruthless killer.
A NOBLE LORD // pantalone
— the lord of the wealthiest house in all the kingdom, besides that of the royal family itself. many consider him to be the most eligible bachelor out there, and yet, he's shown no interest in any of the women throwing themselves at his feet. he prefers to keep his personal life (and his money) to himself.
A NOBLE LADY // signora
— a mysterious widower with a sharp bite to her words. stories tell that she was once much kinder and more generous, but everything changed following the death of her former husband. rumours circle plenty about her through the kingdom, though they've yet to be proven true.
THE ROYAL BLACKSMITH // sandrone
— the best metalworker in the kingdom. she can forge practically anything, from a simple metal ring to the shells magically powered puppets. there's hardly a moment in the day she isn't working. despite her skill, however, people rarely approach her to commission her services as she's known for her sharp temper and violent anger.
THE MAGICAL PUPPET // scaramouche
— a puppet doll crafted by sandrone and brought to life by dottore's magic. he was commissioned as a companion for (name), to serve them both as a friend and a butler. unfortunately, the dark magic coursing through his body has imprinted on his personality, giving him a rather bitter outlook on life.
THE MAYOR // pulcinella
— the mayor of the kingdom's capital city. he's respected by all, and has held his position for many, many years. even though he holds a high status, he has plenty of knowledge on the inner workings of society in the kingdom, and uses it to his advantage to keep the people in his favour.
THE ASSASSIN // arlecchino
— an assassin hired by the king and queen to eliminate potential threats from other kingdoms. she keeps to herself as a result of her job, and rarely shows her face. a network of her own spies gather important intel and carry out simple jobs for her.
THE ORACLE // columbina
— the royal family's peculiar oracle from a foreign land. nobody knows her place of origin, but it's quite clear she doesn't hail from the kingdom. although many people have a clear distrust in her, she is a sweet woman to those she deems worthy of her respect.
THE DARK MAGE // dottore
— the only mage left in the kingdom capable of using the forbidden dark magic. despite the king and queen themselves being the ones to issue the ban, they kept dottore around so they could utilise his abilities when needed. he stays within a restricted section of the castle and keeps to himself to continue his studies.
CAPTAIN OF THE ROYAL GUARD // capitano
— the strongest warrior in the entire kingdom and a well-respected leader. knights in the royal guard both fear and revere him, with many seeking to one day train directly under his wing. he hardly socialises outside of official business, is rarely seen besides in times of crisis.
THE ROYAL ADVISOR // pierro
— a man who has worked for the royal family for many, many years. he never fears speaking his mind, not even to the king and queen, and that is precisely what has made him so successful as an advisor. some suspect that he, too, hails from lands outside the kingdom, though there seems to be little proof of this.
