------now that i'm starting to get my groove back, i'm going to try and put a little verse section on my carrd and maybe expand upon it in individual posts. which is a big undertaking, so we'll see. but verses include:
main verse (you are here!) - the gray man, post film. movie canon with book influences
main alt. - young court growing up in tallahassee. private to @medicbled
drive - the premise of the movie drive ... but driver is six. still mysterious and quiet, tho.
indiana jones / the mummy - post ww, six is former military (spec ops) and hired as muscle to accompany a ragtag band of treasure hunters. feat. @medicbled, @executiioner, & @e1igius
hunger games - previous victor turned district 13 muscle. six couldn't be threatened because he had no family left to pimp him out. angy man. tied to @e1igius' hunger games verse
the boys - contracted by vought for security purposes at their HQ. they're interested in testing their "temp v" on him, but he'd rather eat broken glass repeatedly
cyberpunk 2077 - notorious for his ruthless efficiency, former mercenary and even former to that ... millitech solider, six is the only man on afterlife's menu whose still alive. these days he can be seen as muscle for sharon's fixer operations, to whom he's been working beside for a great many years. tied to @thirt13n's cpunk verse
detective gentry - six is a homicide detective in a harlem precinct. partners with gloria. private to @medicbled, open to discussion
preternatural - six is six, but he occasionally runs into and hunts supernatural beings. inspired by threads and lore from @executiioner, open to all.
werewolf, modern - six is six, but also a werewolf. hijinks ensue ... especially when you're a para-military murder machine who also happens to be a giant fucking werewolf.
blood moon - fantasy inspired. court is a cursed werewolf tied to an ancient blood curse influenced by the royal family. private to @stingslikeabee
ny band scene - six ran away from home after killing his father and has hidden out in nyc ever since. music has inspired him, he's covered in tattoos, and his band is his family. private to @vigilantebullshit
there's ... so many more. but just a reminder for me.

DanganDJ Misc Trivia
DR character types:
Lewd character: Hiiro
Chuuni: Muni, Towa, Hiiro sometimes, Kurumiiko
Protag: Anyone with an ahoge (LOL JK)
AI/robot: Lumina, the preserved minds of the deceased students
The unhinged rambler: Noa
Foreign student: Rinku, Yuka/Jenny, Saki (alien), Dalia (because of the headcanon of her being biracial), Miiko (because traveler lol). Couldn't think of anyone in RONDO that I could really justify, per se, LOL.
Trial Gremlins: Muni (overconfident, often incorrect).
Shinobu (calls everyone out for being stupid and is often correct herself, think Byakuya). Esora plays dumb but is actually sharper than a knife.
Hiiro (guides people to the right answer while pretending she’s not doing anything at all, think Nagito).
Kurumiiko (need I say more? LOL)!
School trivia:
My idea for Hope's Pinnacle’s layout is: Basement, ground floor, first floor for classrooms, second floor for dorms, third floor for more classrooms, fourth floor for storage, fifth floor for security/cameras/where the masterminds have their secret meetups, and then the rooftop. Then there's a massive campus that surrounds the school, and a massive forest that surrounds the campus.
The trial room is designed such that the circular patch of ground at the center of all the podiums looks like a DJ disc (the monodisc I have as my blog background).
And for the order of who stands beside who, I took from the final screenshot of Petite Mix.
Monochio watches from a red couch at the head of the room.
Other trivia:
Muni's bunny ears were a gift from Usami because she saw how insecure Muni really was about herself even though she acted like she thought she was the greatest Ultimate in the world.
Monochio uses it/its pronouns in reference to its robotic nature and the fact that Nyochio has been addressed as male and female in D4. It also acts as a balance between Monokuma and Monomi who were male and female.
Another reason I called this the Killing School Transfer is for the meta reference of the D4 girls being transferred into the DR-verse.
V3 had "KubzPadz". I have "PheFos" (Pheline Fones, courtesy of Monochio). I also have Monokitz and katz to balance out Monokumas.
One of the Trial Minigames is the taxi cab/snowboard and I imagine the D4 equivalent to be the "Mind Motorcycle" because of how many D4 girls have motorcycles.
And the disc at the center of the trial room spins before every Debate Scrum.
Random timely trivia: The M4 SO art of Dalia and Rika standing in the rain crying is so perfect for Chap 4 of this Killing Game.
Family Relationships:
Rinku is related to Rantaro or Kiyo.
Shinobu is related to Chiaki, and Yuka to Mahiru.
Saki is related to Kaito.
Rika is related to Masaru and Dalia to Angie.
Nagisa is related to Ibuki Mioda.
Kurumi is related to Kokichi.
Elaboration on other units:
LMO and COA were Hope's Peak staff and became Hope's Pinnacle staff at the end of the saga. Before and during, however, they would've been scattered around all the schools and campuses.
As for Unichord, Michiru was the type to dream of having a Talent, thinking that it made her super cool to be an Ultimate. After enrolling, however, she learns that although she’s an Ultimate, she’s still less talented than most of her peers. Her arc is about finding the people she trusts, accomplishing things she would’ve never been able to do alone. That was why she was able to help Shinobu in the best ending, she had since found her unit, and they helped her survive and grow until Shinobu needed her.
Again, Lumina was created to be a Hope AI, but her arc involves learning that Hope isn't manufactured or programmed (similar to Izuru and Nozomi/Kiko), rather, Hope is learned and developed over time, and anyone can do it, AI or human.
Hayate and Kokoa I imagined as normal Talented middle schoolers with them meeting Michiru and Lumina during their adventures through Towa City. The Warriors of Hope and DICE would’ve played big roles in their storylines.
I also had it in mind that Kurumiiko temporarily led part of the Warriors of Hope, as the group was originally designed to combat Junko until Monaca hijacked it and made it what it was in Ultra Despair Girls. After the D4 cast is all kidnapped, this is what gives Monaca the chance to take power from Kurumiiko.
As for Abyssmare, Neo is an Ult. Vocalist aspiring to be an Ult. Diva with the potential to be an Ult. Leader if only she actually invested time in people that weren’t just her.
Sophia is the Mikan to Neo's Junko.
Weronika has Akane vibes.
And Elsie has Fuyuhiko vibes. That's why I originally wanted her as an American version of him, complete with ties to the mafia the way he has ties to the yakuza. But after learning a bit more about Elsie’s story, she strikes me as more of a Hiyoko type. Or Kokichi.
They were meant to be the first students of the overseas academy, then they became temporary leaders of the Future Foundation until their in-fighting allowed another group to steal their power. Makoto helps them fix it and they enroll in Hope’s Pinnacle to learn from the other students how to be a good Ultimate.

by MHJoker4Ever
Different choices were made. Different outcomes were born.
Sayaka Maizono abstained from murder. This led to a whole new Killing Game in Hope's Peak.
Mukuro Ikusaba's survival meant that she helped capture Chisa Yukizome and reform her alongside Class 77. This led to a whole new Killing Game in the Jabberwock Island simulation, and a civil war with Future Foundation.
The story is not yet over. There has been more lurking behind the scenes even as the Biggest, Most Awful, Most Despair-Inducing Incident in Human History raged on. Even right before it kicked off... Class 79 of Hope's Peak mysteriously vanished.
Authorities assumed they died, but now... a year after the Jabberwock Island resolution, Hajime Hinata has received a strange broadcast.
A broadcast of the Killing Game of Class 79.
Everything seems the same as ever... With just one burning question: Who is left to mastermind this theater of carnage? Junko is dead. Mukuro, Hajime, and Ultimate Despair are reformed. Monaca Towa is reformed. There should be no one left.
... Yet here they are. Class 79 in the balance.

Headcanons about each of the lords (+the Duke if you're writing about him) if they ever happen to adopt a little child?
THANK YOU ANON MY THE UNIVERSE BLESS YOU WITH PILLOWS THAT ARE COLD ON BOTH SIDES
okay okay okay okay this has definitely been on my mind so lets get into the thick of it
Alcina Dimitrescu
(im starting off with alcina for obvious reasons)
Alcina would be on the way to the church with the slimy moron, the demented doll, that disgusting manthing and Mother Miranda
She'd kiss her daughters goodbye and head off through the snow, quietly muttering about how cold her ankles were
while Moreau is literally up to his chin in snow but its fine
as she gets closer to the church she keeps hearing this. thing. it sounded familiar but she couldn't exactly put her finger on it.
she strays from the path to find it because it was just so familiar
as she weaves her way through the snow, her dress gets caught on something. she leans down to get her dress unstuck when she realises its this tiny basket.
like seriously. just a little woven basket in the middle of the snow. and it doesn't look like its been there for that long- there's hardly any snow on it
when she tugs at her skirts again, the basket makes the same noise she's been hearing
she stands back up to her full height, staring down at the basket with narrowed eyes
this cannot be a good idea, can it? opening a strange basket in the woods after being lured out here. it's probably some village manthing's trap.
she's about to step away when she hears the sound again- much more intense and much more clear
Alcina leans down and opens the lid of the basket
inside is this tiny thing- all soft and warm in a padding of blankets
a baby
she stands and looks around
who on earth would be so moronic as to leave their baby in the snow? it's much too cold for a baby to survive-
oh
she sighs, getting onto her knees to pull the baby from the blanketed basket
the meeting will have to wait. it's too cold even in the church for this tiny thing.
when she finally makes it back home, she's greeted by her daughters in a swarm of buzzing flies.
as they manifest in their true forms, they're asking what- or who, rather- their mother brought for dinner
Alcina smiles and shakes her head, unwrapping the small bundle clinging to her breast
"this... is your new sibling" she announces, "they'll be staying with us from now on."
and the sisters are ecstatic. a new sibling!
Daniela especially is happy that she is no longer the youngest. she usually is the one to parade around the castle with her sibling on her shoulders, showing them the coolest hiding spots for hide-n-seek and the windows with the best views
Bela is incredibly protective. like. incredibly.
she smelt blood from across the castle and when she found her little sibling sniffling about a skinned knee earned from a game of tag with Angie, she lost her shit and almost broke the damned thing with her sickle
And Cassandra has been caught reading bedtime stories by nightlight multiple times. she tries to play it off but everyone knows that she loves- absolutely adores- her newest sibling
we all know Alcina is such a wonderful mother to the girls so adding another baby to the mix was a guaranteed success
she's so doting and careful (a little overprotective at times but she means well) as she is with her girls
as the child grows into a teen, she panics a bit because "my beautiful baby is growing into such a beautiful, talented adult" so expect a lot of late night visits when she just sits on the edge of her bed and just admires how much you've grown
Salvatore Moreau:
now this one is an easy one too if i'm 100% honest
think Moses type beat
(if you don't know, Moses was found in the riverbank in a little basket)
apparently i really like baskets
anyways
Moreau was so out of his element when he found this tiny, screaming, writhing piece of soft flesh
the first few weeks were rough
but he eventually got the hang of it (with Alcina's help of course)
he would take his child fishing every now and then- just the two of them out on a boat for a few hours
the kid would literally swim more than walk and that little fact would make Moreau so freakin proud
also this kid would be so well-versed in movie and film history it's stupid
like expect this little 4 or 5 year old babbling not about toys or snow or how many sticks they found but instead about the copyright war over the film Nosferatu and the destruction of its copies
Moreau, as the child gets older (like 11 or 12) would have just a tad of trouble trying to keep the kid out of the village
he'd wake up one day and go out onto the lake, expecting his child to be swinging their legs off the dock and watching the sun rise over the water
and when he finds that they were not, in fact, swinging their legs off the dock and watching the sun rise over the water, he p a n i c s
i mean, full blown red alert
all of the lords are summoned to help Moreau look for his missing kid, the lycans are given an article of clothing to help find the scent, Mother Miranda goes to search the village herself- the whole shebang
and when the kid is found playing with the village children, Moreau bursts into tears
needless to say, the kid isn't allowed to go to the village anymore
until they're fifty (Moreau's words, of course)
but the kid sneaks off more and more as they get older, using Alcina or Donna or Karl as an excuse to be away
and Moreau knows but he never says a word
seeing his child happy and free with the kids their age makes him happy, even if he is a tad, a tad, a tad bit nervous
Donna Beneviento:
when Donna found this child huddled up against the base of the stairs leading up to her front door, she at first thought it was a doll of hers
it was only when she actually walked outside that she realised it was this shaking, shriveled child in tattered clothes
she spent a good five minutes just staring, wondering how on earth she's supposed to react
that's when Angie jumped in and pulled at her skirt, telling her to "let the kid inside, already!"
Donna went immediately to work on some clothes- why on earth were they wearing such ragged things?! it's freezing outside!- while Angie entertained in the parlour
honestly, it didn't go well
the kid was a little bit unsettled by the floating doll that moved and spoke on its own FOR GOOD REASON
and when Donna walked back in with her measurement tape and some fabric, the kid backed themselves into a corner of the room with their gangly legs tucked into their chest
Angie sighs from the opposite side of the room, letting her little feet fidget as she gestures to the kid. "they're no fun" she pouts, "wouldn't even let me know their name"
Donna puts her materials down slowly and lifts her veil back before attempting a small smile
it takes a while but upon the offer of food, the kid finally lets Donna make them some clothes while Angie makes conversation
she works in silence, only offering small awkward smiles
Angie finally brings up the topic of where their parents are when the kid's clothes are done
when the child goes silent, Donna nods in understanding before hurrying off to make a room for them
as Angie helped tug the blankets up to the child's ears, they promised they'd be gone in the morning
Angie was the one to tell them off.
"You'll stay as long as you need, you silly goose!"
and the child did
Donna would let them tag along for meetings so long as they promised to keep quiet and help keep Angie out of trouble
most of the time, it didn't work and they both would end up in trouble but Donna let them come nonetheless
and when the other Lords question where on earth this little kid came from- all dressed in black fabric that matched Donna's dress, she just shook her head and let Angie chase them off verbally
she'd spend literal HOURS locked in that workshop making new little friends for her child and when they were old enough, she'd let them into the workshop
and when they were even older, she'd walk them through making their very first doll on their own
she'd just watch with pride as they carefully painted the freckles with a shaky hand while Angie danced around their ankles singing of how excited she was to have another friend
The Duke:
he would be setting up shop near the base of the Dimitrescu castle when he catches a kid trying to steal some his wares
he wouldn't be terribly upset, more concerned
it wasn't something shiny or expensive that they were trying to steal
it was some of the steaming-hot food he had left to cool in the wintry air
he confronted the child gently and with a warm smile
"That's cordon bleu," he says, gesturing to the steaming plate. "I can make you some if you'd like"
and as the child eats, the Duke continues tidying up his shop for any future customers
the child, through a mouthful of food, points to different items and asks their purpose, their price, their possible enhancements
the Duke answers each question with patience, happy for the company
but he doesn't just let the questions go one-way
"How about a trade?" he asks as the child asks about the strange-looking bottle of green liquid. "An answer for an answer."
the child agrees and the Duke starts to peel back layers of why the child was here looking for food
they had been orphaned by the last lycan attack, only barely making it out by fleeing into the woods
they tried to forage off of berry bushes and successfully managed to kill a pig- only for the blood to attract lycans before they could properly eat it
the Duke nods and continues busying himself with his shop, feeding the horse that pulls the wagon
the thought had hit him when he watched the child petting his horse
that horse hated everyone. including him at times.
maybe...
when he offered to take the child in, the kid nearly burst into tears and thanked him repeatedly, swearing to earn their keep
and they did, seven times over
what started off as a purely business venture morphed into something more as time went on
when the child would come back from selling smaller household items like gasoline and the occasional package of bullets, the Duke would have them climb onto the roof of the wagon and watch the sun set together with a plate of food
speaking of which, like Moreau, the Duke would raise the most cultured child
this kid would know how to prepare and identify different dishes and their ingredients just by looking at them or smelling them
and their palate would be far more sophisticated than most adults
the Duke, as the child gets older, would eventually allow them to choose destinations to set up shop- even outside of the village
wherever his child wants, the shop would go
it allows them to see the world and its earthly wares together- something the Duke had lacked in his life before the child was brought into the picture
Karl Heisenberg:
listen to me very very carefully
this man would be the most chaotic father ever to walk this earthly realm
when he finds this kid in the elevator of his factory, he's kinda standing there like 🧍 "what the hell-"
and when the kid starts spamming the button while maintaining eye contact, he kinda snaps out of it and starts chasing after them as they drop down to a different floor
it goes on for a solid twenty minutes before he finally managed to track them down in the corner of his office
and when i say this man is confused, i freaking mean it
i mean
why the HELL would some random kid be in his factory? don't they like... play with ponies or something at this age?
to be fair, this man literally has never been allowed a childhood so
obviously he starts scolding the kid ("what the hell are you doin' in here? it's dangerous and there's some really freaky shit here, kid"), dragging them to a nearby sink because "holy shit kid, you're filthy"
the kid is silent essentially the whole time, just kinda staring into his eyes
and of course Karl's gonna be like "...the fuck're you doin'?"
the kid's face is cleaned off and Karl sends them back out towards the village with a scratchy blanket he pulled out of the bottom of his desk drawer
he's working on his 'equipment' one day when he starts reaching for a wrench, keeping his focus on the body on the table
when i say this man jumps skyhigh at the kid asking a question, i mean it
he drags the kid back out, yelling about how dangerous it is and how "you shouldn't do that! you're gonna get yourself killed! go back home!"
the kid doesn't listen
it becomes a regular thing- Karl finds the kid wandering around the factory, Karl brings the kid out of danger, Karl tells them to get lost
eventually (day thirteen of this) he asks why the child keeps coming back
and he hates the answer he gets
it was something along the lines of "it's warm and there's nowhere else for me to go"
so Karl reluctantly eagerly lets them stay
it's a lot of rules at first (a kid shouldn't be allowed to just wander around a bunch of mindless cyborg killers, let alone a factory) but eventually the child learns to mind Sturm and the others
doesn't mean Karl does not have a fullblown heart attack when he walks into his workspace to find the kid tracing their finger along the center of the battery for the Soldats
after a very long talk (and some deep breathing) Karl reluctantly eagerly lets them sit against the very far wall to watch him work on the machinery- not, under any circumstances, the actual bodies
as the child blossoms into a young adult, they start to help out with certain aspects of Karl's work
exclusively machinery because Karl could not physically handle having his kid watch him get elbow-deep into a corpse
and Karl is so freaking proud of it
when the Soldat is kicked to life, he's got his kid in his arms and cackling like the proud dad he is
yeah. paternal Heisenberg>>>

undeniable proof that shuichi and kokichi were gay in v3
Tumblr media
prepare yourself for the most big brain thing that has ever bigged your brain
chapter 1
shuichi saihara spends this chapter following kaede around because they were just trapped in a godforsaken killing game and everything seems to suck. when faced with a situation such as this, the natural inclination is to either find someone to latch onto or to distrust and stick to oneself. shuichi does the former because he is a twiggy little man who would probably die in a fight before anyone even attacked him.
what is kokichi doing in this chapter? sticking to himself? stalking someone? that is the real question. nobody knows what he is doing because he is not the protagonist and not the obligatory party companion. however, since v3 follows a theme of fiction, it is totally logical to believe that some system must be in place, but kokichi is not bound by such a system because kokichi represents anarchy.
he does not stick with another for all to see, nor does he remain alone. alas, he searches for a secret companion and has not found one yet. who shall he find? shall he find any? the truth is, he gravitates towards shuichi. it’s supposed to be in secret, but there is a way in the game to see what really happened.
if you speak to tsumugi right before everyone is asked to gather at the cafeteria a second time, she mentions sonic the hedgehog. kokichi runs by, saying “got to go fast”. this means that kokichi has either played sonic the hedgehog or is at least well-versed in sonic memes. if you get this dialogue, and only if you get it, later, kokichi makes another sonic reference, saying “faker? I think you’re the fake hedgehog around here!” while he confuses everyone, the dialogue makes the odd choice of stopping on shuichi, even though the dialogue box only includes “…” and nothing else.
chapter 2
if you have unlocked tsumugi’s sonic dialogue and go to the monomono machine, you now have a 5% chance of getting sonic merchandise. if you give this merchandise to kokichi, you get some interesting dialogue. he says “wow, shuichi! how did you know that I grew up playing sonic and that it’s my absolute favorite video game series of all time?” this immediately maxes out all 5 of his friendship fragments, and you can get all 5 of his hangouts without giving him any more presents. you’re probably wondering why this is important, but you will see.
as kaede is now dead, shuichi finds himself horribly alone. while kaito is there and starts calling him his sidekick, the force of protagonist syndrome has caused shuichi to gain the courage to hang out with anyone, including kokichi of course. I don’t need to talk about kokichi’s hangouts. they literally end with “I stole your heart, so now I’m satisfied!” and it doesn’t get gayer than that.
or does it?
if you investigate the bathroom part of ryoma’s lab during this chapter and click on a very specific spot in order to enter one of the stalls, you can click on the toilet 5 times and shuichi will lie down on the floor. while it’s to investigate the underside of the toilet, and there is nothing to be found, the words “kokichi was here” are written on the ceiling above the stall. if you’ve already hung out with kokichi at least once in this chapter, shuichi will sigh and wonder what kokichi is doing right now.
if you’ve given kokichi the sonic merchandise, and you reach kokichi’s final free time event in this chapter, he will actually question shuichi after he finishes bandaging kokichi’s finger up, briefly commenting on how shuichi managed to get close to him so quickly and asking him “what his trick is”. he says “you must like me a whole lot, shuichi. I hope you don’t bail on me after this.” word for word, literally just hear me out.
“kokichi places his warm hand on mine, and I feel like he’s prying much deeper than he usually does.”
“I didn’t think that was possible…”
chapter 3
little did you know, giving kokichi the sonic merchandise unlocked a bonus hangout. yes, you heard me right. a WHOLE bonus hangout. you can hang out with him again whenever you want in this chapter. kokichi only says “good to see you.” you can select yes or no.
the screen will fade to black.
you have used up a free time.
if you have reached this hidden part of kokichi’s relationship sequence, random dialogue that isn’t in the normal game starts getting sprinkled in, as well as certain easter eggs. when angie starts her whole shtick, since you’ve already hung out with kokichi 5 times, there are a few things he has to say straight up, like how he’s going to teach shuichi about cults so shuichi doesn’t accidentally join the student council.
chapter 4
now that you’ve finally reached chapter 4 and activated the secret kokichi pathway, you get a hidden scene, much like the others that are triggered by having specific items in your inventory. in the middle of the night, kokichi breaks into shuichi’s room and shakes him awake, telling him that someone stole his almond milk.
shuichi tells kokichi to shut up and rolls over.
fun fact, if you get the hangout with miu where she checks whether shuichi is a virgin, she does, in fact, say “ha, I can’t believe this!” and if you zoom in the window behind her, you can barely make out kokichi’s face. peering in. watching you. if you click on him at any point during this hangout, you will hear a voice clip of kokichi’s laugh and shuichi will internally respond to miu’s dialogue differently. he will think “miu is the last person I need to know about this…”
in this sonic dialogue route, shuichi responds slightly differently to kokichi revealing that he is the mastermind. although his dialogue is mostly the same, he counts approximately 22 extra crying sprites, implied to be caused by additional heartbreak.
chapter 5-6
these chapters play out mostly the same way until the very end, the only exception being when you’re investigating kokichi’s lab. if you click on kokichi’s throne 13 times, one of the bookshelves will slide out of the way to reveal a hidden bathroom. there is an envelope taped to the wall that says “for my beloved detective, who habitually smacks things over and over.” it says “if you’re reading this, I’m probably dead. or am I? wouldn’t you like to know? nishishi.” shuichi comments about the fact that kokichi literally wrote that stupid laugh out, only to start crying again.
make sure that you have kind lie equipped as one of your skills before you start the final trial.
if you’ve done everything exactly according to plan up to this point, the ending is different.
tsumugi decides to show kokichi’s audition tape instead of kaede’s. he says “I’d love to be a part of danganronpa! I can finally be a bad guy without being scared!” but then kokichi looks directly at the camera. he says “naw, just messing with you. guess who?”
the screen cracks.
kokichi has suddenly entered the scene of the trial. tsumugi looks horrified. her wig falls off. everyone is at a loss for words. suddenly the screens and lights around them start to black out until everyone is left in almost complete darkness.
shuichi finally asks kokichi how he’s alive. he’s like, “you DIED” and kokichi is like “or did I? it’s the grand finale, shuichi! I owe you the truth this one time, because you’re my favorite.” everyone listens intently. “you see, by observing your irrational actions, almost like that of a main character… I was able to conclude that we exist in a fictional world that plays by certain rules. but we all been knew, didn’t we? not quite! someone forgot to test for exploits.” himiko just goes like “what the fuck you smokin?” and kokichi just laughs. “my self awareness has given me more power than you can possibly imagine! let’s just say I learned where the hit boxes are broken and installed a few cheat codes in the meantime!”
“no… that’s impossible! this isn’t supposed to be part of the ending at all!” tsumugi doesn’t like that one bit. she just kinda breaks down crying. shuichi isn’t paying attention to her though. he had accepted oblivion only to be greeted with kokichi being alive. as annoying as kokichi is, they are hopelessly in love. maki is a little disturbed.
after passionately reuniting with shuichi, kokichi says the thing. “this world is mine now, tsumugi! you got nothin on this! it’s time to say goodbye to this trash dump and create a new reality!” tsumugi just kinda goes like “noooo!!!”
everything goes black. shuichi has a vision about entering creative mode. kokichi has opped him. they take hands. “let’s create someplace way more fun.” maki and himiko and keebo look at each other because they’re floating in the background and watching this happen even though it’s supposed to be an internal vision. the screen goes white.
shuichi graces us with some internal protagonist dialogue about how he doesn’t really understand what’s happening anymore or what’s waiting for them outside of this world, but he thinks that things might turn out ok.
after unlocking this ending, you unlock a super secret video that you can view from the main menu. it’s a fully animated video of kokichi and dice dancing to world is mine. this is what they spent all their budget on

angie is just sitting off to the side on the floor, stretch book in hand with an endless looking sea of colored pencils scattered around her with a few being held in her mouth. she is doodling tenko in her book as she practiced her aikido.
Unprompted ll @fatedcollection
🌸 She didn’t really know anything about the other girl when she had asked to watch her in her dojo, only that she wasn’t one to turn away the company of another girl. She’d been rather isolated since she came to hope’s peak, trying to stay out of public places with all the scenes she tended to create around the technology that was still so foreign to her.
So when she paused, starting to run out of breath after the countless amount of time she’d beaten this dummy’s face in by using the momentum of his swinging arms against him…she took a moment to look at what the other girl was doing.Quietly, she began to approach Angie while she was distracted by the task at hand.

aesthetics for the entities, part ii.
bold what applies to your muse,   italics what applies situationally or only in certain verses.         rest of the fears here.     this is based on a horror podcast;       potentially triggering and / or upsetting content ahead!
viii. THE HUNT.       sharp canines. sore calves after a run. the scent of blood. an adventure for the journey’s sake. the adrenaline right before the kill. a whistle’s echo.  the woods. the doe eyes of a prey animal. your own breath in the air. sharpened claws. being tracked. fear of someone knowing your every movement. hunting down monsters.  hide and seek.  running away only to end up where you started. staying alive purely because the enemy enjoys seeing you run. a set of footsteps behind you. blood dripping from bare hands. barks and growls. focused eyes. a victim going limp under your hands. a mouth full of fresh blood. catching the scent of something monstrous.  perfecting your craft. peering into the dark and running after it.
ix.  THE LONELY.        an apartment too small for a double bed.  completely vacant streets. waking up to see everyone gone.  fog.  point nemo.  a house too big to hear your family members in. alone in a faceless crowd. a mask with nothing behind it. separated cubicles.  a deafening silence where joy should be. a blinding spotlight. the least missed in your friend group. streets without lights in the windows. isolation. not truly knowing your friends. your friends not truly knowing you. need for silence. fear of crowds. staring into space knowing nothing is looking back at you. a ship alone at sea. depression. knowing your friends are better off without you. talking to someone only to realize they’re gone.  a family too large to notice you there.  safety in being alone.
x. THE SLAUGHTER.      a game of tag.   senseless violence. a true crime hobby. improvised weapons. blinding rage. intent to kill. a horrific day in a quiet community. a medal of bravery. holding on to what validates your anger. history books that spare no details.  an injury you want revenge for. war. counting kills. songs of soldiers.  a knife-block on the counter. a pool of blood. shellshock. unspeakable horrors. anger pushing you forward. unimaginable pain.  not seeing who will hurt you but knowing the pain is coming. a fully human monster. an authority sending its lessers to their deaths. kill or be killed. unedited wartime memoirs.  a weapons collection. not knowing the names of who you kill. too many to remember. loss of hope. there’s no heroes in war.
xi.  THE SPIRAL.     sleep deprivation. corridors you can get lost in.  maze puzzles that loop back on themselves. losing possessions. losing people. losing your sanity. corkscrew curls. rows of funhouse mirrors. optical illusions. a separate reality. walking through the wrong door. delusions. not knowing what your hands are doing. blank spaces in documents. hallucinations.  wrong proportions.  a nameless thing. a place that has never existed. doubting your own mind. blind faith.  losing track of names, labels, categories.  distorted sound. an imperfection in a glass that twists the view. loss of time. a garish color. doors that open to nowhere. lies. an unnatural laugh. jokes and tricks. illusions. a doorway. a sculptor with a wild imagination.  limbs in impossible angles.  doing what’s fun, not what’s sensible. fractals you can get lost in.
xii. THE STRANGER.        wax figures. a close approximation of a human face. a borrowed appearance. a strange smell. glass eyes.  furs and pelts.  a dance. a song of a choir. the uncanny valley. stitching yourself together. the colors of a circus.  a puppet with no strings. mannequins. glitter and sequin.  a stranger you’ve always known. someone strange in the place of someone you knew.  stolen identities.  stolen skins.  a machine imitating humanity.  the anonymity of a service worker. hiding in plain sight.  uncomfortable to look at. a faked accent. concealing. forgetting who you are.  forgetting who others are.  a replacement no one notices.  images that look posed.  the only one seeing the false face of someone.
xiii.  THE VAST.     open spaces. carnival rides going up and down. fear of heights.  endless infinity around you.  your insignificance in an universe. stomach turning at a drop. fear of not the crash down but the moment you slip. the sway of a cable car. an adventure holiday. losing track of where the surface is.  miles and miles of nothing around you.  staring at the sky and feeling like you may fall into it. loss of control.  a fall that doesn’t end in death.  glass floor to the view below. terminal velocity. the sound of wind in your ears. a reach over the railing. a jump from the top of the building. falling into nothing. feeling your feet let go of the ground. a leap of faith. motion sickness.
xiv.  THE WEB.     undecipherable code. a puppeteer holding the strings. power over the weak-willed. strings of fate. manipulation. an arranged accident.  a hundred minions doing your bidding. cobwebs. spiders. a laid trap. never voicing discomfort. outwitting a cheater. doing things without realizing it. red string across a cork board.  finding something lost where you were sure you checked. power over the unreliability of chance. watching others dance for you. an entangled death.  a thousand tiny legs and fangs.  shady forum threads. something important gone missing. suspiciously disregarded case. a missing witness. connections.  the world wide web. power of victimhood. gullibility. no control over your own decisions. an invisible leash. mass psychology.  a horror film in the making. scapegoat.  never remembering to ask for a name.
+  THE EXTINCTION.    the end of an era. apocalypse movies. the alarms of warning systems. a desolate landscape.  end of the world cults. nihilism.  the last written history. a changed world. no survivors. old prophecies.  a thousand predicted ends. a new chapter. an end with no escape. catastrophes. a calendar counting down. breaking point. overindulgence.

The Life I’m In by Sharon G. Flake Scholastic Inc
My feet are heavy as stones when I walk up the block wondering why I can’t find my old self.
In The Skin I’m In, readers saw into the life of Maleeka Madison, a teen who suffered from the ridicule she received because of her dark skin color. For decades fans have wanted to know the fate of the bully who made Maleeka’s life miserable, Char.
Now in Sharon Flake’s latest and unflinching novel, The Life I’m In, we follow Charlese Jones, who, with her raw, blistering voice speaks the truths many girls face, offering insight to some of the causes and conditions that make a bully. Turned out of the only home she has known, Char boards a bus to nowhere where she is lured into the dangerous web of human trafficking. Much is revealed behind the complex system of men who take advantage of vulnerable teens in the underbelly of society. While Char might be frightened, she remains strong and determined to bring herself and her fellow victims out of the dark and back into the light, reminding us why compassion is a powerful cure to the ills of the world.
Sharon Flake’s bestselling, Coretta Scott King Award-winning novel The Skin I’m In was a game changer when it was first published more than twenty years ago. It redefined young adult literature by presenting characters, voices, and real-world experiences that had not been fully seen. Now Flake offers readers another timely and radical story of a girl on the brink and how her choices will lead her to either fall, or fly. — Cover image and summary via Goodreads
Happily Ever Afters by Elise Bryant Balzer + Bray
Sixteen-year-old Tessa Johnson has never felt like the protagonist in her own life. She’s rarely seen herself reflected in the pages of the romance novels she loves. The only place she’s a true leading lady is in her own writing—in the swoony love stories she shares only with Caroline, her best friend and #1 devoted reader.
When Tessa is accepted into the creative writing program of a prestigious art school, she’s excited to finally let her stories shine. But when she goes to her first workshop, the words are just…gone. Fortunately, Caroline has a solution: Tessa just needs to find some inspiration in a real-life love story of her own. And she’s ready with a list of romance novel-inspired steps to a happily ever after. Nico, the brooding artist who looks like he walked out of one of Tessa’s stories, is cast as the perfect Prince Charming.
But as Tessa checks each item off Caroline’s list, she gets further and further away from herself. She risks losing everything she cares about—including the surprising bond she develops with sweet Sam, who lives across the street. She’s well on her way to having her own real-life love story, but is it the one she wants, after all?
One of the Good Ones by Maika Moulite and Maritza Moulite Inkyard Press
ISN’T BEING HUMAN ENOUGH? When teen social activist and history buff Kezi Smith is killed under mysterious circumstances after attending a social justice rally, her devastated sister Happi and their family are left reeling in the aftermath. As Kezi becomes another immortalized victim in the fight against police brutality, Happi begins to question the idealized way her sister is remembered. Perfect. Angelic.
One of the good ones.
Even as the phrase rings wrong in her mind–why are only certain people deemed worthy to be missed?–Happi and her sister Genny embark on a journey to honor Kezi in their own way, using an heirloom copy of The Negro Motorist Green Book as their guide. But there’s a twist to Kezi’s story that no one could’ve ever expected–one that will change everything all over again.
Roman and Jewel by Dana L. Davis Inkyard Press
If Romeo and Juliet got the Hamilton treatment…who would play the leads? This vividly funny, honest, and charming romantic novel by Dana L. Davis is the story of a girl who thinks she has what it takes…and the world thinks so, too.
Jerzie Jhames will do anything to land the lead role in Broadway’s hottest new show, Roman and Jewel, a Romeo and Juliet inspired hip-hopera featuring a diverse cast and modern twists on the play. But her hopes are crushed when she learns mega-star Cinny won the lead…and Jerzie is her understudy.
Falling for male lead Zeppelin Reid is a terrible idea–especially once Jerzie learns Cinny wants him for herself. Star-crossed love always ends badly. But when a video of Jerzie and Zepp practicing goes viral and the entire world weighs in on who should play Jewel, Jerzie learns that while the price of fame is high, friendship, family, and love are priceless.
The Awakening of Malcom X by Ilyasah Shabazz & Tiffany D. Jackson Farrar, Straus and Giroux (Byr)
In Charlestown Prison, Malcolm Little struggles with the weight of his past. Plagued by nightmares, Malcolm drifts through days unsure of his future. Slowly, he befriends other prisoners and writes to his family. He reads all the books in the prison library, joins the debate team and the Nation of Islam. Malcolm grapples with race, politics, religion, and justice in the 1940s. And as his time in jail comes to an end, he begins to awaken — emerging from prison more than just Malcolm Little: Now, he is Malcolm X.
Here is an intimate look at Malcolm X’s young adult years. While this book chronologically follows X: A Novel, it can be read as a stand-alone historical novel that invites larger discussions on black power, prison reform, and civil rights.
When You Look Like Us by Pamela N. Harris HarperCollins
When you look like us—brown skin, brown eyes, black braids or fades—people think you’re trouble. No one looks twice at a missing black girl from the projects because she must’ve brought whatever happened to her upon herself. I, Jay Murphy, can admit that, for a minute, I thought my sister, Nicole, got too caught up with her boyfriend—a drug dealer—and his friends.
But she’s been gone too long now.
If I hadn’t hung up on her that night, she’d be spending time with our grandma. If I was a better brother, she’d be finishing senior year instead of being another name on a missing persons list. It’s time to step up and do what the Newport News police department won’t.

The Meet-Cute Project by Rhiannon Richardson Simon & Schuster
Mia’s friends love rom-coms. Mia hates them. They’re silly, contrived, and not at all realistic. Besides, there are more important things to worry about—like how to handle living with her bridezilla sister, Sam, who’s never appreciated Mia, and surviving junior year juggling every school club offered and acing all of her classes.
So when Mia is tasked with finding a date to her sister’s wedding, her options are practically nonexistent.
Mia’s friends, however, have an idea. It’s a little crazy, a little out there, and a lot inspired by the movies they love that Mia begrudgingly watches too.
Mia just needs a meet-cute.
Concrete Rose (The Hate U Give, #0) by Angie Thomas Balzer + Bray

Life’s not perfect, but with a fly girlfriend and a cousin who always has his back, Mav’s got everything under control.
Until, that is, Maverick finds out he’s a father.
Suddenly he has a baby, Seven, who depends on him for everything. But it’s not so easy to sling dope, finish school, and raise a child. So when he’s offered the chance to go straight, he takes it. In a world where he’s expected to amount to nothing, maybe Mav can prove he’s different.
When King Lord blood runs through your veins, though, you can’t just walk away. Loyalty, revenge, and responsibility threaten to tear Mav apart, especially after the brutal murder of a loved one. He’ll have to figure out for himself what it really means to be a man.
Angel of Greenwood by Randi Pink Feiwel and Friends
Seventeen-year-old Isaiah Wilson is, on the surface, a town troublemaker, but is hiding that he is an avid reader and secret poet, never leaving home without his journal. A passionate follower of WEB. Du Bois, he believes that black people should rise up to claim their place as equals.
Sixteen-year-old Angel Hill is a loner, mostly disregarded by her peers as a goody-goody. Her father is dying, and her family’s financial situation is in turmoil. Also, as a loyal follower of Booker T. Washington, she believes, through education and tolerance, that black people should rise slowly and without forced conflict.
Though they’ve attended the same schools, Isaiah never noticed Angel as anything but a dorky, Bible toting church girl. Then their English teacher offers them a job on her mobile library, a three-wheel, two-seater bike. Angel can’t turn down the money and Isaiah is soon eager to be in such close quarters with Angel every afternoon.
But life changes on May 31, 1921 when a vicious white mob storms the community of Greenwood, leaving the town destroyed and thousands of residents displaced. Only then, Isaiah, Angel, and their peers realize who their real enemies are.

Thirty Talks Weird Love by Alessandra Narváez Varela Cinco Puntos Press
Out of nowhere, a lady comes up to Anamaría and says she’s her, from the future. But Anamaría’s thirteen, she knows better than to talk to some weirdo stranger. Girls need to be careful, especially in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico—it’s the 90’s and fear is overtaking her beloved city as cases of kidnapped girls and women become alarmingly common. This thirty-year-old “future” lady doesn’t seem to be dangerous but she won’t stop bothering her, switching between cheesy Hallmark advice about being kind to yourself, and some mysterious talk about saving a girl.
Anamaría definitely doesn’t need any saving, she’s doing just fine. She works hard at her strict, grade-obsessed middle school—so hard that she hardly gets any sleep; so hard that the stress makes her snap not just at mean girls but even her own (few) friends; so hard that when she does sleep she dreams about dying—but she just wants to do the best she can so she can grow up to be successful. Maybe Thirty’s right, maybe she’s not supposed to be so exhausted with her life, but how can she ask for help when her city is mourning the much bigger tragedy of its stolen girls?
This thought-provoking, moving verse novel will lead adult and young adult readers alike to vital discussions on important topics—like dealing with depression and how to recognize this in yourself and others—through the accessible voice of a thirteen-year-old girl.

Last Night at the Telegraph Club by Malinda Lo Dutton Books for Young Readers
“That book. It was about two women, and they fell in love with each other.” And then Lily asked the question that had taken root in her, that was even now unfurling its leaves and demanding to be shown the sun: “Have you ever heard of such a thing?”
Seventeen-year-old Lily Hu can’t remember exactly when the question took root, but the answer was in full bloom the moment she and Kathleen Miller walked under the flashing neon sign of a lesbian bar called the Telegraph Club.
America in 1954 is not a safe place for two girls to fall in love, especially not in Chinatown. Red-Scare paranoia threatens everyone, including Chinese Americans like Lily. With deportation looming over her father—despite his hard-won citizenship—Lily and Kath risk everything to let their love see the light of day.

The Knockout by Sajni Patel Flux
If seventeen-year-old Kareena Thakkar is going to alienate herself from the entire Indian community, she might as well do it gloriously. She’s landed the chance of a lifetime, an invitation to the US Muay Thai Open, which could lead to a spot on the first-ever Olympic team. If only her sport wasn’t seen as something too rough for girls, something she’s afraid to share with anyone outside of her family. Despite pleasing her parents, exceling at school, and making plans to get her family out of debt, Kareena’s never felt quite Indian enough, and her training is only making it worse.
Which is inconvenient, since she’s starting to fall for Amit Patel, who just might be the world’s most perfect Indian. Admitting her feelings for Amit will cost Kareena more than just her pride–she’ll have to face his parents’ disapproval, battle her own insecurities, and remain focused for the big fight. Kareena’s bid for the Olympics could very well make history–if she has the courage to go for it.

What about 15?
15. Which character do you think could benefit from a total rewrite?
OKAY THIS TIME I’M WRITING THIS IN A LIBREOFFICE DOCUMENT SO I PHYSICALLY CANNOT LOSE IT THIS TIME, THANKS FIREFOX. WHY DID I LEAVE GOOGLE CHROME AGAIN???
Anyway… let’s see…
So I’m gonna just start over again and say first off, I’m only going to be talking about V3 here because tbh, I don’t even remember many characters from the second game, and like only two from the first. They weren’t my thing, and it was V3 that really caught my attention
So the short answer is: no one needs a rewrite, and yet at the same time, everyone needs a rewrite.
The long answer: It’s not the characters that need a rewrite per-say, but the narrative. (With one big exception, but I’ll get to that)
The narrative is where V3’s story flaws are prominent. In my first rendition of this reply, I went into extensive detail about it, but the general thing is that due to the narrative bias and need for certain plot elements, characters act in ways that is incredibly inconsistent.
Take Kaito for example. Kaito is extremely emotionally intelligent, fun fact. He has a hard time with his own grief, with it manifesting into anger and rage, but he is very aware of how others feel around him, and he cares a lot and want’s to help them. Fun fact, Kaito was like the only person who noticed something was wrong with Kokichi in chapter 4 before the trial, and was the only one who considered Kokichi to have been just as affected as Gonta by the secret of the outside world, acknowledging that both Kokichi and Gonta lost their god damn minds. He was the only one willing to trust Kokichi in chapter 5, but here’s the thing—he only did this when it no longer mattered.
See, the problem with Kaito here is that Kokichi is the narrative’s gremlin—he cannot be shown as a person and only as an evil being unless you want the narrative’s structure to fall apart. Kokichi being neglected and even abused by his peers is extremely important for the narrative, because without him being isolated, it falls apart.
Also—the game wants me to believe that a character with a literal hero complex is just gonna sit there in chapter 2 and watch Maki strangle someone? Really, game? Really?
This is the same issues with Shuichi, too—Shuichi is extremely intelligent and has amazing deduction skills and is very caring, but when Kokichi’s involved? All of that is thrown out the window, and it’s like he’s an entirely different character. Kokichi gets a small cut in his FTEs? Shuichi freaks out about it. Kokichi gets a serious head wound in chapter 3’s main narrative where it really matters? Not only does Shuichi not even react, the whole narrative plays this off as a fucking joke.
Also, here, have a post about how the narrative is actively trying to mislead the player into believing Kokichi is manipulating Gonta when in fact Gonta is very well aware of Kokichi’s plan and not only agrees with it, but is actively plotting with him about it. I bet you didn’t know about this very optional dialogue that re-contextualizes the whole Insect Meet and Greet.
The problem with most of the characters and their shortcomings is the fault of the narrative, not the characters themselves. It’s pretty clear to see once you realize what’s an intentional character flaw verses what isn’t, and a lot of the flaws that weaken a character in V3 are narrative related, not character related. Like—the narrative had some really good hints to imply that Korekiyo was emotionally abused and manipulated by his sister and forcing their relationship upon him, since she was so sickly and all. TBH the serial killer plot just doesn’t make any sense, like—if this boy wanted to really kill 100 friends for his sister, why didn’t he take the first blood perk so he could continue to do so outside? Like??? There’s no reason for him to believe that he will die there when they first blood perk is ripe for the taking. He even admits he thinks of his dinner at that time to be his last supper. You can really tell that the whole “serial killer” plot was a last minute add on because oops, we need a chapter 3 crazy. Like come on.
Honestly the only character that I think needs a huge makeover is probably Angie. Celest pointed this out after my first pass of this answer, but Rantaro, Kirumi, and Ryoma just didn’t have a lot of time to develop or get some solid characterizations or arcs, but Angie? Angie is a super racist caricature of pacific islanders, and even if it was the English Dub that changed her “God” to be “Atua,” I seriously doubt they made her more racist in the dub than what was already in the original. Like there is just no way around it, she’s the only character in V3 who’s character shortcomings is from racism in her writing over narrative flaws… if you don’t count that as a flaw within the writing/narrative as it is. She is just plain offensive and her shit needs to be completely redone.
So I guess Angie is my answer xD; rip. Though seriously, the narrative’s flaws are what really needs to be rewritten for the other characters tbh, and that’s about it.

Sometimes, when I’m bored, I like to imagine a world where Rantarou and Kaede both survived, and the two team up with Ouma and Shuichi respectively, becoming two rival teams that basically become the schools two cliques, dragging everyone else in.
Because I love the idea of factions in Danganronpa and platonic(?) Oumami
Kaede and Shuichi’s relationship doesn’t really change; it basically stays as is
Whenever Shuichi lies to try and catch someone out, Kaede will usually back him up
There is a lot of tension after the whole ‘shotput ball’ incident, but they make up after a bit, because, y’know, literal life or death situation
She’s very supportive, defending him from others and as such Shuichi is slightly more confident
But, in turn, he’s also quieter, shyer. He doesn’t have to be the leader, because Kaede is here. He’s the follower.
He’s probably not as close to Kaito in this verse, since Kaito and Kaede hit it off so well. Oh, he’s still invited to their training sessions, but Kaede and Kaito are naturally closer than Shuichi and Kaito, with Maki and Kaito being the closest
Amami and Ouma would have probably gotten along great if given the chance
Oh, sure, you may not think so at first, with how chill and laid back Amami is compared to Ouma
But, like
Rantaro canonically doesn’t trust anyone, and thinks trusting anyone in this situation is the dumbest possible thing to do
It’s also implied that Ouma was especially interested in Rantarou, even to the point of entering his lab, all because he knew something was off about him
So
Ouma knows that there has to be something special about Amami- why else wipe his mind?
He’s also pretty sure that Amami isn’t the mastermind, because why would the mastermind draw attention to himself like that?
But Kokichi is a paranoid bastard, and so settles for needling him any chance he can
Meanwhile, Rantarou’s survivor instincts (tm) are going ham, telling him that Ouma is planning something, and that he’s probably not the mastermind, because the mastermind wouldn’t be so obvious and seclude themselves
Probably
Despite this, the two don’t create an alliance until much later on.
Kaito and Kaede probably drive the two nuts. It’s a lot subtler in Rantarou, but their continued insistence that everyone should stay together and not suspect anyone, basically dancing on strings for the Mastermind, is fucking infuriating for Amami especially
In fact, as I’m thinking about it, had Rantarou survived for longer, he would have really hated Shuichi. It’s an odd thought, but the fact that Shuichi never really looked into the possibility of a mastermind, or one of the students being behind it until the very end, would have pissed the Survivor off to no end
(No offence, Shui, I love you so much. But, like, Kirigiri was investigating that possibility from the very beginning. Step it up, emo boy)
Anyways, Rantarou and Ouma would both be annoyed by Kaito and Kaede, though Amami chooses to show it through subtler means, usually by giving them vaguely threatening advice before walking off
Eventually, Amami says out loud, with Ouma in earshot “they are going to get themselves killed” and Kokichi is just like
“rIGHT?!?!?”
They start to bond over this shared exasperation, sharing looks and complaining to each other when they’re alone, but they still don’t trust each other yet.
I think Rantarou would be the first one to extend the hand of friendship; not by telling Kokichi his secret, but by showing him the bookshelf, and explaining his theory
So Kokichi and Rantarou go to check it out, and the shotput ball trick fails, as it does in canon, but Shirogane doesn’t attack Rantarou because now Kokichi is with him
Instead, the two hastily retreat, because they know a DEATH THREAT when they see one
They go back to Amami’s room, and Kokichi is too freaked out to even freak out about being in someone elses room, vulnerable, during a killing game, because what the hell was that-
The two go back and forth for a while, trying to figure out what the hell just happened, and eventually realise that that must of have been a trap set by the mastermind
“Pretty shitty trap” Kokichi jokes weakly, but Rantarou still laughs a little
Meanwhile, Kaede and Shuichi’s side of things, Kaede realises her shot-put ball trap failed, but doesn’t say anything
The cameras are checked and-
There Are TwO mAsTeRmInDs?!?!
They are, understandably baffled. Shuichi cautiously suggests that maybe, like them, Rantarou and Kokichi found the secret door which-
Kaede denies. It can’t be true. It can’t. Because if it is-
She glances at her shotput ball, then looks away before Shuichi can see what she’s looking at
Instead, she suggests that they bring it up in front of everyone, to see if they can explain themselves
And boy, can they
Even as Shuichi and Kaede lay all of these things out for all to see, Amami and Kokichi are dead silent, glaring at the two
And Kaede feels her hopes start to rise; maybe she was right. Maybe this entire thing can end, right here, right now
And then Amami starts talking
It’s weird; it looked like Kokichi was going to at first, but then he and Amami’s eyes met, and he steps back and allows the green haired boy to speak
It is the first case of silent understanding and trust between the two
Amami carefully explains what happened, how he found the door, and showed it to Kokichi
Since he’s the one explaining, and not Kokichi, nobody is quick to accuse him of lying, but Shuichi does cross examine him a bit- why Kokichi? Why not tell anyone else?
And the bitch goes off
“Look, I’m all for the optimism here guys, but the fact of the matter is, we are a bunch of strangers being forced into an enclosed space, prodded with sticks, and being told to kill each other. Sorry if I’m not exactly trusting any of you.”
Kaito sputters for a bit, gesturing towards the grinning Ouma “and you trust him.”
Amami eyes him for a moment “yes” he says, surprising himself “he’s the only one here talking sense.”
Protests all around, but Rantarou speaks over them all “the fact that the door was in the library tells us that somebody is working for Monokuma and that that somebody is in the building.”
Kaito raises a fist, ready for anything “really? Well, lets go find them then!”
“You idiot” Maki mutters “he means that whoever is working for Monokuma has to be one of us.”
“Well, duh!” Kokichi sticks out his tongue and gestures towards Kaede and Shuichi “they think so too! That’s why they set up the camera, to catch the Mastermind”
Then his expression darkens, and he’s almost whispering when he says “you wanna tell ‘em what else you set up?”
Shuichi is really, really confused, and Kaede is really, really scared, because now she realises just how badly she screwed up
When Kokichi and Rantarou explain what happen, Shuichi immediately interjects, saying that they didn’t do that, that it must have been the master-
He notices how quiet Kaede has gone. She’s pale, and her eyes are watery, and-
And she admits it
She admits what she did
And- damn
Kokichi and Rantaro didn’t think Kaede had done it.
What follows is an hour long argument. The group basically fights over the two basic ideologies of the killing game
No Kaede shouldn’t have done that, but wasn’t killing the mastermind the right thing to do? Should they really trust everyone, especially as one of them could be working with Monokuma? So what you want to just turn on eachother? That would be playing into his hands!
They don’t even notice when the time runs out, and Monokuma rushes in to tell them all that he’s not going to kill them all, that would be too painless, but warns them
“I’m being super duper nice, letting you off with a warning this time around, but don’t think it’ll happen again. Even I can’t be that sweet!”
(Realistically, they wouldn’t kill everyone off after only one episode, it would be a hassle and a half to reopen auditions and find a new location and it would really disappoint the fans, so, no, I don’t think Monokuma was ever actually planning on killing them all off. But they didn’t know that.)
And now our ragtag bunch of misfits basically splinter off into two separate factions.
One faction, basically lead by Kaede and Shuichi, believes in keeping the peace, and trying to stop the killings before they happen, to keep distrust as low as possible to avoid a blackened situation and values things like optimism
Their members include; Kaito, Kiibo, Himiko, Tenko, Angie and Tsumugi
(I think Tsumugi would like to be in the other faction, so she could keep an eye on Amami, but is also scared that they’ll see through her)
Meanwhile, the other, lead by Ouma and Amami, believes in finding out which one is the mastermind, of not playing into the masterminds games and values things like pragmatism
Their members include; Maki, Miu, Korekiyo, Gonta (kind of? He just follows Kokichi), Hoshi and Kirumi
Both sides have equal points in their favour, and both sides are flawed
Basically, it’s highschool cliques all over again
I’m absolutely going to come back to this again when I have the chance
