I BEAT THE FIRST AC GAME AND EVEN MANAGED TO KILL NINEBALL IN THE SHAFT!!!
I would like to give a shout out to the karasawa and plasma cannon for being stupid overpowered and carrying me through most of the game :]
(and also the infinite energy cheat that was available with my emulator that let me completely trivialize the platforming section at the end, but that was the only time i used cheats)

Is our pilot a Human Plus recipant???
In AC1 if you racked up too much debt(got your mech destroyed too many times), you’d be given an ‘option’ to take part of an experimental surgery that would wipe out your debt. The resulting surgery would make your human pilot cyborg essentially and allow the pilot to “connect” with the AC to become a better pilot. This allowed you to shoot heavy back weapons while mobile, increased energy conservation and an ever present radar system.
Gameplay wise it was a mechanic to help players lacking in skill to enjoy the game. Lore wise, it was a terrifying means of loss of self since your name would be replaced by a code name and random numbers. As the game(s) continued, it wasn’t uncommon to fight other pilots who were Human Plus recipatns but in AC4, with the introduction of Lynx Pilots, being jacked into your AC wasn’t uncommon. While the games aren’t exactly connected, Human Plus continues to exist in some capacity. That brings me to AC6
It’s pointed out we’re an Augmented Human and our name is C4-621. Not exactly the same naming convention as AC1 just having the name “Rebel” followed by random numbers, but it’s pretty similar.
And in this scene, we can see our AC moving while shooting an otherwise heavy back launcher, without taking a squat to absorb the recoil. It’s a few small things, but this makes me excited for its implemtation. With that said, I wonder if it’ll make an actual comeback as a means of beginner friendly gameplay mechanics or it’s just a story beat for or protagonist.
Human Plus sounds cool but in universe lore makes it pretty terrifying for the most part since not only is your skeletal structure and organs are replaced, but those who get it are prone to insanity, able to be mentally controlled, external body stiffness due to the skeletal replacement, and while the person who undertakes the operation may stay physically young for the rest of their lives, their internal hardware can breakdown cause their heart to simply stop.
Also you fell for my trap to listen to me nerd out about AC lore that gets overlooked.

Longer no-commentary gameplay than usual, this is just another part of my oldgen armored core deep dive over the last couple weeks.
