John getting shot after he gets abducted - again - and he knows that this is it. He can see the textbook anatomy pictures in his head, offering him the information that he really does not want to know, he can feel his veins leaking and causing internal bleeding and he knows he is done.

But the warehouse is dark when Sherlock comes crashing through the door to save him, so the detective doesn't see it. And John doesn't tell him. Because he needs to get Sherlock away from this place before they get him too. So he hauls himself to his feet, leaning on Sherlock - 'just a bit roughed up, Sherlock, I'll be fine' - and they stagger towards safety.

It is when they are getting closer to the police cars - their faces lit by the lights - that Sherlock freezes and pales.

'John...what is...John what's wrong? Tell me!'

But John feels himself crashing to the ground, taking Sherlock with him. Somewhere far away he can hear yelling but he only focuses on Sherlock. With trembling hands Sherlock tries to determine where John is hurt and when he finds the entry wound - so much blood and John is so pale and cold - a cry escapes him. 'No John, please, you can't do this. You can't die, stop this! Please...'

John slips away into unconsciousness before he can say anything and his heart flutters and stills while Sherlock is screaming at him, begging him not to leave him alone.
