Why Beyond and Misa are best friends (in an alternative universe)

They have mental health problems.

They are orphans. The death of their parents has been very traumatic for both of them. That is why it is easy for them to communicate and they understand each other's experiences well.

They are obsessed with people who will never pay attention to them.

They do not tolerate loneliness well. They feel insignificant when they are not noticed. They want to draw attention to themselves.

They don't want to be who they really are and hide behind made-up identities.

They like to do their make-up and change their clothes. B has a large set of cosmetics that he uses a lot (his favourite lipstick is black!). He also often buys clothes at second hand and then quickly throws them away.

They like to wear fashionable and provocative clothes.

Misa is a wonderful actress and model and Beyond is a talented actor and cosplayer. Beyond invents the characters he wants to portray, and Misa helps him do it. He plays both male and female characters equally well.

They love cute little things. Misa collects plush toys and dolls, and Beyond collects anime figurines.

They are attracted by themes of death, mysticism and the occult.

Beyond is struck by the fact that this fragile girl is a serial killer. He is attracted to her. He respects Misa for her courage and strength.

They have shinigami's eyes (obviously).

misa's lab partner is— unusual. she noticed beyond on the first day, before they'd actually been paired up. he really sticks out. not in a bad way, necessarily— misa sticks out, too, because this class is mostly pre-health students and misa is a fashion design major— he's just hard to miss. tall, long-limbed, sharp features. sort of unsettling to look at. he's got a face and build that might be good for a career as a high-fashion sort of model, the ones who aren't, like, actually hot, but look weird in an interesting enough way to make up for it. she doesn't think he has a future on the runway, though, mostly because he carries himself like he's sorry to be alive. she really isn't sure what to make of him at first. misa tries to be nice to everyone, because she hates it when people are mean for no good reason and there's usually not a good reason to be mean unless someone makes her really mad, so of course she's friendly when they get assigned as partners for the semester. she also doesn't like it when girls lead guys on, though, so she tells beyond right away that she has a boyfriend. "he's going into biological engineering," she says, proud. "he's like, really smart." beyond just blinks. "okay."

1. Last song: Laplace's Angel (Hurt People? Hurt People!) by Will Wood! I was listening to this while thinking about a silly Light Yagami animatic I will never make. Laplace's Angel fits Light so SOOOO much.

2. Currently Watching: I'm watching a Minecraft series with my little sister! PiroPito first play through of Minecraft! He's playing Minecraft blind with no tutorials. It's very fun to watch someone discover Minecraft mechanics on their own!

3. Three Ships: I don't get what this means, is it asking for my favorite ships? That is a difficult question. I'll just list three Death Note rare pairs I think are cute. Matsulight, Beymane, and L x Aizawa

4. Favorite Color: I love everything saturated! Hmm hot pink, I guess?

5. Currently Consuming: I haven't eaten any proper food yet but the last thing I ate was glitter and paper...

6. First Ship: The first ship I remember shipping was Zeref x Mavis when I was like. 7?? I loved that ship so soo much lmao. But the first Death Note ship I shipped was yagamane lmao. I was around 8 when I first watched Death Note and 8 year old me thought they'd be cute. I rewatched Death Note because of a lawlight tumblr post tho.
