All of my writing, from academic to fiction, is littered with metaphors to nature. I cannot seem to make a point without talking about how my evidence is strong like the regal Redwoods of- wait- I'm doing it again.

Since childhood I have been obsessed with flowers and forests--I used to take my friends "fairy hunting" in my backyard and fingerpaint (not well, I'm a writer not an artist) lively rainbow gardens. I am at my happiest when I am surrounded by nature...

...But there's a big disclaimer. I like pretty nature. My natural habitat may be a flowering alpine meadow, but as soon as it gets muddy, I'm out! I don't appreciate being too hot or cold, I have a crippling fear of earthworms, my skin dries and cracks if is not drowned in lotion every hour, and I have the survival skills of gnat.

So, one could call me a rather shallow nature lover.

But, my love for the natural world goes beyond being outside. I respect Mother Nature not as a deity but as a concept and aim to treat her realm with utmost kindness. She provides us with so much and I am deeply resentful of how humanity has taken advantage of her abundance.

My blog is here to encourage you to see the magic in the natural world that is worth protecting. Nature Notes is a social media project in which you can follow my growth as a writer observing the natural world. A visit to Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Garden in Pittsburgh inspired me to improve my imagery skills--to become a master of description and adequately capture nature's beauty in writing.
