do you know anything about their school/college days - ie if they liked school/had favourite subjects/took particular classes? if Quinn and Luke declared majors at mich?

also if they’ve ever said what they read? think I read that Jack says he likes to read (sports books maybe?) in his spare time and one in of Ellen’s interviews she talks about reading (to them?) and somewhere else about how she was super involved in their academics

The teacher in me is fascinated!

quinn was enrolled in the school of kinesiology and majoring in sports management.

in 2021 he said

If you weren’t a hockey player, what else might you be doing? — Veronica X. I don’t know, I love golf. I’d probably be golfing a lot. I’d be in school somewhere … I’d be a senior right now so I’d probably be getting my degree in the next couple of weeks. Maybe business or sport management? That’s what I was looking at at Michigan for two years.

luke's intended major was also sports management. he was taking a business management class and fumbled his part on a group project when he signed with the devils. he took a greek sports history class and talked about how he doesn't love school but he likes history here (worth listening to imo) and he also enjoyed history of college athletics. luke actually took an online college class before officially starting at umich

"I'm taking an online chemistry class to get it off my plate. I wake-up and do two hours of that and then I go and work out with [trainer] Brian Gallivan and then I skate and then just chill by the pool and hang out. It's been nice."

Hughes has become an avid reader to expand his knowledge and make better use of downtime. Joe Rantz was a driving force for the eight-man crew. A strong rower with an unshakeable disposition sounds a lot like the driven Hughes. “I thought Joe was just a hard worker who did his job and was a quiet guy,” said Hughes. “He appreciated everything that came his way. He pretty much raised himself from the age of 10 and was a very outdoors person.”

he apparently is "reading a book almost weekly to try to improve his brain" and he also was spotted reading Stay Sane in an Insane World: How to Control the Controllables and Thrive

jack likes reading sports books as said here, specifically Eleven Rings: The Soul of Success and Three-Ring Circus: Kobe, Shaq, Phil, and the Crazy Years of the Lakers Dynasty. The Mamba Mentality: How I Play was on his reading list in high school. he also talks about books here

Craig: The other thing that (Williams) said was reading. He said you’re asking for book recs. We’re looking for book recs. We’re big readers. Jack: Yeah, you guys got any? I dunno. (I’m tired of) everything on my phone, social media, things like that — and I never went to college, so you gotta get smarter somehow. Craig: Are you a fiction guy? Are you a self-improvement guy? What do you find yourself gravitating towards? Jack: I read a lot of sports books. “Eleven Rings,” by Phil Jackson. Also, “Greenlights” by Matthew McConaughey. Those are my favorite ones I’ve read recently. It’s important. We’ve got a lot of down time on the road, so it’s good stuff.

as for ellen, she said this in the cammi & aj podcast

So for me, you do things that you enjoy or you- you teach them things that you feel like you can teach them, Right. So it's kind of a slight on me that I wasn't more worldly and wanting to take them to museums. Or maybe like I felt like I had do those things because like, ‘Oh my God, what am I teaching them?’ But you tend to do the things that you - you're trying to find activities. Jimmy was off coaching a lot, I had three young boys that were really close in age. So what do I know? What can I do to pass time and keep them active? It was kicking a soccer ball. It was throwing a ball, it was doing rollerblading, it was passing the puck, it was taking them skating. So for me, those were mommy and me activities, right? And then every once in a while I'd be like, you know, I'd be like, ‘uh, we got to do Kumon, we gotta do like - we gotta read.’ You know, academics was really important to me because I felt like I was so driven the other way that like, I didn’t want to miss out on the other. So for us, it was never this grandiose plan, and I'm sure you guys were the same way. It was more like, ‘be the best at whatever it is you're doing, work your hardest at whatever it is you're doing.’ Working the hardest didn't mean scoring the most goals. It was playing the right way, whatever it is, being a great teammate and working really, really hard and we always felt like the other would come.

other potentially interesting notes, jack was an honor roll student in 8th grade, and quinn agreed he was the best at school when they were younger, so it's funny he's the one who didn't end up going to college. ellen's brother is actually the president of denison university and they have some pretty academic cousins also.

@amanda5834 gave me the prompt: How about the night Ellen and Brian Fraser meet..Sneak away and then get pregnant to force marriage acceptance from brothers?

I was a bit apprehensive about it because we don’t get much Brian and Ellen in the novels, so channeling them for a fic proved a bit difficult. I did write something but wasn’t sold on it. So then I kind of took the prompt and wrote “Family History”- but now, I feel bad because that is not at all what the prompt was asking. I’m just going to post the small little fic that actually fits the prompt and add it as a small flashback/continuation to the “Family History” timeline.

The hall was loud and boisterous. People from all clans were here this year for The Gathering. The food and drinks were ample, the clansmen and women all talking, laughing, and mingling. There was an energy in the room—he could sense the new beginnings, the reconnecting of old freinds, new business deals being made, and friends who were like family hearing the stories of the years spent apart. He scanned the room, starting from the left and making his way slowly across. Smiles and tears, laughter and hearty Scottish noises very popular amongst the people. And just as he was finishing his slow gaze across the crow, that’s when he saw her.

He saw her there, standing across the room in a group of women. Her grey eyes, auburn hair, the small dimple on the right side of her cheek that only appeared when she smiled. Her hair was in a bun, but two pieces falling down on either side of her face, framing the contours of her face. Her smile, the most radiant thing he had seen in the whole room. She had taken his breath away.

‘Ah Dhia’ he thought to himself ‘that lass is a bonny thing.’

He felt the nudge from Leslie next to him bringing his attention back to conversation at hand.

“Wouldn’t ye say the crops will do well this year, Brian?” Leslie asked as he turned to him and smiled.

“Aye, Yes. I suppose it willna be all that bad.” He replied as he took a sip of his rhenish.

“Brian, ye seem like yer mind is elsewhere.” Mack laughed as Leslie leaned into him, both men looking at Brian’s face as he started to turn bright red.

“I’m sorry..I just…” He stammered trying to turn get his attention back to the present and away from that lovely lass in the corner.

“We both see it, Brian. Dinna fash, she is a bonny lass. However, she’s apparently promised to another man. Doesna matter though till it’s official, aye? Go say hello, bring her a dram!” Mack chuckled as he pushed Brian out of their circle.

“And dinna come back until ye at least ken her name!” Leslie bellowed behind him.

Brian nodded, taking a the final sip of his rhenish feeling brave.

He walked to the the drinks, filling two cups and slowly making his way across the room. By the time he got to the corner, her eyes were directly on his. Just a few feet away- a few more steps- that’s all he needed to do to close the distance between them.

It was like she had heard his thoughts. He watched as she reached over, whispering something in a friend’s ear and excused herself from her friends. She picked up her skirts, beelining for him at a pace that matched his racing heart.

She smiled as she met him by the wall away from the crowd. It was as if they were in their own little world.

He smiled as he felt the blood rush to his head and leaned against the stone to keep himself balanced. She smirked, cocking her head to the side, leaning against the wall right in front of him.

Brian stared- her beauty even more evident as she stood right in front of him. He felt awkward and like a love struck fool. He looked down at the glasses in his hand trying to form some kind of coherent statement.

He heard the lass laugh, crossing her arms across her chest, making her very voluptuous womanly assets even more appealing.

“Two drams. Are ye gonna drink them both or did ye bring one for me? I caught ye staring earlier and then ye leave yer friends and walk all the way over here but now ye canna look me in the eye.” The lass articulated as she reached a hand forward plucking a glass from his grasp giving him a few seconds to speak up. He stood— still frozen by her beauty and presence in front of him. “Looks like this might be a one sided conversation then. I’m Ellen. Ellen Mackenzie.”

Brian looked up and knew, his world had been forever changed.

“I’m Brian, Brian Fraser. Would ye like to go somewhere? It’s a little stuffy in here, and I think I’d like to get to know ye better.” He said, offering Ellen his arm.

“I would like that, Brian.” She insisted as she took his arm. “I like yer name… Fraser. Strong Scottish name for a strong Scottish man.”

He leaned over kissing her cheek softly as he led them out the back from the Hall, wishing nothing more to make this Mackenzie a Fraser.

Proud Parents

This is a pre Culloden fic for @ghostlylightparadise with a twist. I hope you enjoy it. Thank you to @moghraidhjamie for organising this secret Santa once again.

Somewhere in the great heavens, Brian and Ellen sat by an impression of the fireplace in Lallybroch. Brian nursed a dram and was reading a French novel, just like his daughter Jenny does. Ellen was watching the flames, trancelike and smiling.

"Which are ye watching now, a leannan?" Brian asked, looking over the spine of his book at his wife.

"Jamie. He's sleeping. Dougal has him out with the MacKenzie's. Murtagh is with him though." Ellen stated dreamily.

"Up tae mischief?"

"No. I think he's falling in love."

Brian shut his book so firmly he should have scared Ellen, but her gaze didn't falter. "Wi' whom? Nay that Laoghaire lass?" Brian sat forward in his chair as Ellen laughed.

"Nay. A sassenach Murtagh rescued from a red coat, that Jack something."

"Oh. Him. Well, glad she's safe wi' Jamie and Murtagh. Wouldnae like tae see a lass suffer at his hands. No after what he did tae Jamie."

"Claire I think her name is. Jamie's muttering it in his sleep." Ellen whispered, reaching out a hand to Brian who took her slender fingers in his calluses ones, worn rough from decades of work.

"Claire. Claire Fraser. I see that workin'. Is she bonny, Ellen?"

"Aye, strong, braw and stubborn as a mule too. Just like our Jamie. She's a healer. She'll treat him well and he, her. Ye raised him well, Mac Dubh." Ellen laughed and Brian smiled.

"I did me best."

"Ye did fine, and what he doesnae ken, he'll learn. He and Claire, they'll learn t'gether."

"Aye. Ye always did have a way about ye, a knowledge for what will come. Let's just hope they name any bairns after us, Jenny hasnae given us tha' honour yet."

"Aye, I'm sure they will. But let's wait and see what happens, shall we?"

"Aye."

Somewhere down below among the Scottish heather. Murtagh grunted in his sleep as he rolled on his side, in an attempt to avoid a breeze that was circling them. If he wasn't in such a deep sleep, he might have heard Ellen Mackenzie Fraser's voice, thanking him for protecting her son.

Jamie however, dreamt of his mother and his father. He dreamt of introducing them tae Mistress Beauchamp, Claire as his wife. He hugged his father and could have sworn, upon waking, that he heard him say "I'm proud of ye, laddie. Ye mam and me both."

But he'd never admit that to anyone, not even Claire.

A Proper Name

The bairn had soft, red hair. Her hair - and a lot of it.

Mackenzie blood running through his veins.

Ellen ran a finger over his little face, gently tracing the smooth forehead, the small nose, the wide lips.

The slanted blue eyes were turned towards her, and he looked at her in the vague way newborns do. Ellen smiled, looking at the cerulean pools, exactly like the ones she’d fallen in love with, years ago, the night of the gathering at Castle Leoch.

The Fraser side claiming its part of his blood.

The bairn kept his eyes open for just a moment before he squeezed them shut again. His mouth opened, ready to cry in frustration, for he had lost purchase on her nipple - a devastating thing to happen. Ellen helped her son before he’d wake the whole house with his screams, and then watched him suck, peaceful once more, and content.

She couldn’t stop looking at him.

It was beautiful to see little Jenny climb on the bed to sit next to her, eager to hold the baby. It was heartwarming to have Willie sit - composed, as an older brother would be - on her other side, eyes glinting with excitement when he talked about all the boys’ stuff he’d get to teach his little brother. But it was when the Laird’s room door was closed, when she had kissed her older children goodnight, that she had those precious moments alone with him, to welcome the newest Fraser at home.

Brian walked into the room soon after the baby had fallen asleep. He looked tired, with dark circles under his blue eyes, but his smile was radiant when he looked at the two redheads in bed.

“You’re awake.” It wasn’t a question. He shed off his clothes, leaving them on the chair in front of the dresser, and got under the quilts.

“One of us, at least,” she said, tearing her eyes away from her boy to look at her man.

He smelled of horses and smoke, and his kiss tasted like happiness and love.

“Have you decided, mo nighean ruaidh?” he asked, settled next to her. His eyes focused on the baby in her arms, while his hand moved up her thigh.

“Brian Fraser!” Ellen hissed. “Take yer frozen hands off me!”

He felt goosebumps rising on her silken skin and pulled his hand away, albeit reluctantly.

“So that’s my welcome? Oh, the pain, to be rejected by my own wife!” He looked at her from the corner of his eye, resting the back of his hand against his forehead, as if he was part of an ancient tragedy.

Ellen’s body shook with suppressed laughter. “Give me yer hands,” she said, thinking how she felt sometimes that she had four children instead of three.

She kissed his hands with warm lips, and let him cup her face.

“Thank ye, mo nighean,” he said and kissed her reverently on the forehead.

“What for? Your hands are still as cold as a winter’s night!”

“Aye, but ye warmed my heart.” He gave her a genuine smile, and then asked again, “So, have ye decided on a name fer the bairn?”

“Only one? He’ll think we dinna love him, Brian, wi’ him having only one name while his brother and sister have three each!”

“Oh aye,” Brian chuckled. “He’ll have three names too. Who kens, he might need them all.”

“D’ye think so, Brian Robert David Fraser?” she teased.

“I dinna ken. I didna need all mine, if that’s yer question. And ye didna need yers, Ellen Caitriona Sileas MacKenzie Fraser,” he returned her teasing.

Ellen shrugged, and then looked at Brian, a faint line between her eyebrows. “I was thinking of ‘Murtagh’, but he’s nae a Murtagh, right?”

Brian laughed at that, and it would have been a boisterous laugh if his son hadn’t been sleeping just a breath away. “He reminds me of ye, ruaidh.”

It was Ellen’s turn to laugh - silently. “Well we canna name him Ellen now, can we?” She took a deep breath then, the echo of their laughter fluttering in her heart. “He minds me of my Da.”

“Red Jacob?” Brian asked incredulously. “The ruthless leader?”

Ellen cocked an eyebrow, giving him a disapproving look. “The fierce warrior,” she returned. “Do ye ken, Brian Fraser, that I would never have been free to marry ye, if it wasna for my Da? In contrast to my brothers, Da never tried to force me to wed a suitor I had rejected.”

“Oh?” Brian gave her a soft smile. She’d never told him before.

“I ken that a lot had been said about him, rumours and gossip and some truths, but he loved me and he was a good Da to me. As for the ruthless leader, leave it to me to make a fair leader out of our son. As I’m counting on you, to make him a fearless warrior.”

“And he’ll love his redheaded daughter something fierce, aye? Even if she elopes wi’ a stranger?” Brian’s kiss tasted of mirth when his lips found hers. “Is it ‘Jacob’, then?”

Ellen sighed, leaning her head on her husbands shoulder, looking at their bairn. “He’s not a ‘Jacob’. What about ‘James’?”

“I like ‘James’, mo chridhe,” he said, kissing her temple.

They stayed fixed in time, the Brian Dubh and Ellen Ruaidh, looking at the little bundle in her arms. Finally, Ellen spoke again, asking Brian for the child’s second name.

“‘Alexander’,” Brian said decisively. “Since ye’re making him a fair leader, he’ll need a proper name to call himself one. Alexander means the Defender of Men. ‘Tis strong.”

“Aye, I like it. And the third one...” Ellen trailed off and looked at Brian, a light frown on her face. “This bairn’s life isna predictable. He’s not like Willie, who knows that his destiny lies in Lallybroch. This one might become a man of words, or a warrior, a farmer… I want to give him a name that will be a weapon to him, to help him, no matter what happens.”

“What is on yer mind, a nighean?”

“‘Malcolm’. It means the same as Colum and it’s what my brother wanted us to call him when he was just a lad - it’s a king’s name, ye ken.” She looked at Brian, wanting him to understand. “Colum gave us this land, to build our life here. He maybe doesna talk to me now, but he’ll appreciate the gesture, I ken it. And I want him to be there for our lad, if he’ll ever need my family.”

“Look at the sly MacKenzie I married,” Brian said, shaking his head. He kissed his wife’s high cheekbones, then looked at his son, wondering if the same bonny frame was hidden under the rosy cheeks. “James. Alexander. Malcolm. Mackenzie. Fraser,” Brian announced and inhaled deeply, as if he wanted to take in the scent of the words.

“Jamie,” Ellen whispered with a smile and kissed the bairn, before setting him back in his basket.

A wisp of air entered the room from the slightly opened window, the scent of Ellen’s roses mingling with that of the peat fire, enveloping them in a hopeful warmth. Ellen scooted closer to her husband, feeling the weight of his arm across her waist as he lay behind her, and closed her eyes to sleep before wee Jamie would be hungry again.

So I wanted to request a Sebastian Stan x Sister!Reader.

Basically the reader is Sebastian’s sister but no one knows about her. There are some rumours online when they are seen out in public together and people think that they are dating. Sebastian then clears things up. There are then some messages from old co-stars who are shocked that he has a sister.

You don’t have to write this or use all of it but I would love to read it

Misunderstanding

Title: Misunderstanding

Pairing: Sebastian Stan x Younger Sister!Reader

Warnings: Protective Older Brother Seb (which is a warning it’s self), mean “fans”, insecure reader.

Summary: When pictures of Sebastian and his little sister Y/N get out people take it the wrong way and Sebastian clears everything up.

Authors Note: I hope that this is what you had in mind! I hope you like it!!! All translations are from google, they may not be correct I’m not sure.

Being the sister of a famous actor was hard…. Or at least that’s what Y/N had heard. Sebastian was her older brother they had a pretty large age gape with Y/N being born when Sebastian was 17 it was only natural for Sebastian to be protective over Y/N and with his popularity he wanted to keep Y/N out of the spot light.

Y/N was a sweet girl and he knew that if anyone was to hate on her or make any rude comments then it would hurt her a lot. So Sebastian decided to protect her from it and keep her hidden, which was a lot harder than he thought especially when she came to live with him.

“Thanks again for letting me crash Seb.” Y/N smiled as her brother moved the last box of her things into her new bedroom.

“Your my baby sister, I’m not going to let you stay on the streets.” Sebastian said ruffling her hair making her groan and swat his hands making Sebastian chuckle. “What do you say we go out to lunch?”

“Are you sure? What if someone sees?” Y/N asked, she knew how much he wanted to keep her out of the public eye

“We’ll just be careful, we can go to the diner across the street. No one should see anything then.” Sebastian said

“Ok, get out so I can change.” Y/N said shewing him

“Gladly.” Sebastian grimaced making Y/N smack the back of his head

After Y/N got dressed her and Sebastian put on baseball caps and sunglasses and made their way across the street being careful not to be seen. The street was crowded that day so Sebastian grabbed ahold of Y/N’s hand to make sure she didn’t get swept away.

“I’m good.” Y/N said when she noticed Sebastian’s stiff stance and the hard grip on her wrist

“I didn’t think it would be so crowded today, I don’t want you to get swept away pipsqueak.” Sebastian teased making Y/N roll her eyes

“I’m not that tiny, now come on I’m starving!” Y/N said pushing him forward making Sebastian chuckle at her eagerness.

They walked into the diner and sat down looking at the menu and after careful consideration Y/N decided to go with breakfast and get blueberry pancakes with sausage and a coke to drink while Sebastian went with lunch and got a chicken wrap.

“So, you never told me what happened with that Brian guy.” Sebastian said as he took a bite of his food.

“His name was Blake and we just drifted apart. And I caught him cheating with a sorority girl in our apartment.” Y/N sighed picking at her pancakes

Y/N and Blake had been dating since senior year of high school, she thought that he was the one she was going to marry and have a family with. But over the past few months things had been rocky, and he had been sleeping with other women.

“That little bitch. I should track him down and give him the beating of his life.” Sebastian gritted his teeth

“He’s not worth it. He was kinda boring anyway, all he wanted to do was drink and have sex. Which wasn’t that good anyway.” Y/N said and laughed when Sebastian clamped his hands over his ears

“Gross, gross! I don’t ever want to think of my baby sister having sex.” Sebastian shook his head making Y/N laugh

“Don’t be such a baby. That’s payback for letting me watch The Bronze without giving me a warning. I may never recover from that.” Y/N said shaking her head to get rid of the mental image

Y/N was so excited to see Sebastian’s new movie when it came out, not thinking anything of it, thinking that it would be a cool movie about gymnastics. Though it was about gymnastics she wasn’t ready to see her brothers bare ass on the big screen, literally yelping and slapping her hands over her eyes in the middle of the theatre.

“Classic.” Sebastian chuckled, remembering how Y/N has chewed him out when he picked her up from the movies. “You just about done? We should be heading back.”

“Yep, let’s go.” Y/N said taking one last bite of her pancakes

When they made it back over to Sebastian’s apartment Y/N went to her room to take a nap, worn out from moving.

Y/N woke up to the sound of her phone buzzing over and over again, she sighed and sat up in her bed still half asleep and checked her phone to see a few messages from her best friend.

“Look at this.” The text read

Confused, Y/N opened the link and her eyes immediately widened. There were picture’s of her and Sebastian. One of them was when he grabbed her hand as they walked across the street and another was of them laughing in the restaurant.

The heading read, “SEBASTIAN STAN’S NEW GIRL?”

Y/N couldn’t help but read through the comments, but now she wished she didn’t.

“God she’s so ugly.”

“How could someone like Sebastian be with anyone like her.”

“Look at her, she’s probably pregnant and told Sebastian it was his so she could get his money.”

All of the comments made Y/N’s eyes water, obviously Sebastian was her brother and the thought of anyone thinking they were together as a couple made her physically sick to her stomach. But all the things people were saying about her and her appearance still hurt a lot.

There was a knock on her door and Sebastian stepped in, his face showing that he already saw the pictures too.

“I’m sorry pumpkin. We should have just ordered something, I never meant for this to happen.” Sebastian sighed when he saw the upset look on his baby sisters face

“It’s ok Seb.” Y/N said looking down

“No it’s not, it’s not ok at all. You are my baby sister and it’s my job to protect you and no matter how hard I tried I couldn’t even do that. I thought keeping you out of the public eye was for the best, but maybe if you had been in it longer things would be better.” Sebastian said as he came to sit next to her, putting his arm around her shoulder

“You did the best you could, could you imagine if I had been in the public eye when I was younger? I was such a bad teenager, it would have made you look horrible. The pres would have had a field day.” Y/N chuckled

She was a wild teenager, always going to parties and drinking to get attention. It got to the point that their mother had to have Y/N live with Sebastian instead, she was getting older and wanted to live in Romania but didn’t want to imagine how Y/N would react to moving to a completely different country and leaving her friends behind. So Sebastian practically raised her, since they didn’t have a father in the picture Sebastian was basically her brother and father rolled up into one.

“They definitely would have. I’m going to make this right, I promise.” Sebastian said already pulling out his phone to email his agent to have the company who made the article take it down immediately

“What are you doing?” Y/N asked

“I’m making a post, letting everyone know my gorgeous and amazing baby sister.” Sebastian said already selecting pictures starting from when she was a baby, all the way to now

“Are you sure? What if I screw up?” Y/N asked, the last thing she wanted to do was ruin Sebastian’s career

“You won’t, I’m proud to be your brother. The world deserves to know who Y/N Stan is.” Sebastian said before hitting post. “Now, you want to have a movie marathon?”

“Hell yeah!” Y/N smiled running out of the room leaving Sebastian chuckling on the bed. She quickly ran back in and hugged Sebastian making the man smile and hug her back tightly. “Te iubesc, Seb.”
