it's high time that i redid the ✨masterpost✨ of all the shit floating around this blog where i say anything arguably insightful, existential/philosophical, or even just teetering on the cusp of being vaguely intelligent, so voila here you go and fucking enjoy:

🧸 what's the fastest way to become your mutual? - don't be a minor, & post any one (or more) of my favourite things! literally, if someone's following me, i check out their blog & if they're 18+ & they've posted ONE gifset or even fic of something i like, i follow back!!
🏜️ what's your favourite type of comment to receive on your work? - i truly love all (nice) comments, they validate me & make me smile! but if i had to pick, i'd say when someone picks out a line or snippet of the fic that stuck with them, or just telling me that it's beautifully written (because i really really struggle with finding the right words when writing!)

I just wanna write cute dair aus, have any ideas?
oooh i support this, and encourage this majorly! what i think is the most fun tho, in fic, is to be incredibly self-indulgent. write solely for yourself, don’t worry about who will like it, because you can’t ever guarantee how other people react, but if you write what you want to read, you’ll at least have the certainty that YOU like it and are proud of it. that said, i would suggest:
who’s your fave gg character, other than dan or blair? if you’ve read enough of my fic you’ll notice that there’s often an abundance of nate in my dair fics, often moving the plot along or providing emotional support to one of them or whatever. i also adore having vanessa being there and being so done with them, haha. so! something that’ll add depth and be fun for you is if you find ways to write that really focus on characters and dynamics that you like. are you a jenny fan? have her talking to blair about how she better not break dan’s heart. are you a serena fan? have her and blair have a heart-to-heart. wonder what happened to olivia burke? have her come back and be like ‘what happened when i was gone.’ no character is too minor or too irrelevant.
do an AU of an already existing media that you really like, even if it’s niche. i’m having the time of my life writing the osmosis / gg au, and im sure you have media like that too that means a lot to you, that you can step back and look at and be like ‘oh, that’s dan & blair.’ it doesn’t matter what it is, or how silly it is. do a disney movie au. do ‘the little mermaid’ in which dan is ariel and blair is eric. take some ABRITRARY and random piece of media that you like and just go “okay, i’m gonna throw dan & blair in there.”
fix-its!! fix-it fic is so so so common (for a reason, we all saw what canon did to our faves.) what is the one thing about canon dair that hurt you the most, that upset you the most deeply, that you wish had been different? write about it. write it being different. write about dan & blair getting married. write about dan & blair not getting fired from W and learning instead how to work together. write about dan & blair raising milo together. write about blair never even marrying louis in the first place, realising it was dan who wrote those vows. whatever you wish had been different in canon? make your home there.
expand on a canon detail. one of my dan/nate fics (sky blue, the one in which they seduce each other with lingerie, hahaha) came about SOLELY because of one line dan said where he was joking about what nate said abt anticipating sex with juliet and hoping there’s lingerie, and dan says something about “lingerie? i hope you mean for her” and it was hilarious. and i went. hey. what if i wrote fic around it? so i did. and it was fun, and i am very proud of that fic. but like, you can do the same thing with dan and blair. there’s so much stuff they reference that we don’t see. that essay competition blair won that dan showed up to when eleanor didn’t make it? all those failed attempts at having sex which they’re talking about in 5x18 where they keep getting interrupted and things go wrong? all the exhibits they visit and the movies they watch? there’s a lot you can do with all of that.
if you’re looking for really specific fluff suggestions, i’d suggest you look up those suggestion blogs / prompts blogs on tumblr. i used to follow a ton, but right now the only one i remember is meaningfulsuggestion. i would also suggest going through dair aesthetics and gifsets in general, seeing what provokes a strong emotional response. ngl, i’ve written a lot of fic because i stumbled upon a gifset that i couldn’t stop thinking about.

top 5 favorite gifs of yours and why
TOP 1: X i spent like 1 week on it, i almost gave up on it, it was so tiring but i ended up finishing it at the end. trying to get all same frames and having to delete some bc it was too big was so akfsajfsakf every single gif had to have the same frame count
TOP 2: X i spent sooooooo long on this and im very proud with how it came out! all over 70 gifs and making sure everything fits well and making sure the coloring looks good on the sets. i suffered so much making it, it was a pain in the ass
TOP 3: X This will forever handds down be my favorite set, i dont know but i really like looking at it and i always like doing different tings for soobin’s bday. its just so cute
TOP 4: X hahaha it really still bothers me that i made a mistake kdsfdf and no one told me. the 4th and 5th gif are the same sdfsf and no one told me but anways i really like this one bc i liked how i colored and the scenes i choose were pretty good

place your text over the part of the border you wanna cut out.
rasterise your border layer. (right click on the border layer and there should be a rasterise option)
use the rectangular marquee tool and just cut out the area you need! (shortcut ‘m’)

the gifset of shangri-la + colors was the first one of mine to ever hit over 2k notes so it’s definitely got a special place in my heart
