Any transmasc ebm or industrial acts?
I can think of exactly 2 😭
Machines With Human Skin—He’s been around for awhile working with other bands and just being a pretty prolific member of the LA and Chicago scenes but recently (2021) got his first LP, Transience, out. Openly FTM. Takes heavy influence from 90s industrial rock and he got on stage with Chemlab at Cold Waves one year, he’s cool.
Freak Daddy—A local LA artist, also openly FTM and does like an electronic darkwave-y industrial pop sound as well as cool performances, he’s really badass and was really sweet when I met him irl too. His 2023 album SGSM is specifically about his transition and uses pre- and post-transition vocals which imo is really neat.
Umm unfortunately that’s all I can think of though, I know so many FTMs in the scene but openly FTM musicians (especially who have actually released something! I know a lot of guys kinda working on stuff but nothing has come to shareable fruition yet) are rarer. Would love to see more and would LOVE to hear suggestions I might have missed!!

@lysistra tagged me in the "your URL as songs" challenge! THANKS! :D
P - Pyromance - Chemlab
one of my favorite songs. the guitar flickering like a flame in the beginning, the build, the rhythm, the lyrics: "my battery got a surge from my finger triggering your spark plug". fuck yeah.
Y - Yield to Force - Drab Majesty
ethereal, dreamlike, floyd-esque wall of sound you can get lost in.
L - Looking Glass - The Birthday Massacre
one of the first goth-adjacent bands I got into in high school. still one of the catchiest songs ever imo. 90s-inspired snare upbeats 🔛 🔝
O - Offer Your Light - Devin Townsend Project
great song to listen to when I feel like hot garbage. love that dual guitar riff during the latter two choruses and the heat filter effect coming out of that interlude.
N - Noise - Nightwish
this was my most listened to song on my wrapped a couple years ago. idk Nightwish just fucks. and I like the lyrics for this one... ominous...
I - I'll Keep Coming - Low Roar
even wayyyy before I played Death Stranding I was obsessed with this song after seeing that first trailer. the BUILD... 😩❤️
U - Uprising - Flesh Field
MY FAVORITE FLESH FIELD SONG! the contrast between a beat that slaps your ass into the stratosphere and that slow halftime chorus with the guitar is so gooooooooooodddddddddddd.
M - Makina Fifth - Ugress
I'm such a hoe for chiptune. Ugress is one of my favorite, underrated electronic artists. check him out.
-------
If you see this and you want to do it, go for it! some of y'all have long/strange URLS lol so I wanna leave it open haha.

h3llb3nt - 0.01 (CD, 1996, Fifth Colvmn Records). First release from Hellbent (more often stylized h3llb3nt). A stellar collaboration between Bryan Black (haloblack, Motor, Black Asteroid), Eric Powell (16 Volt), Jared Louche (Chemlab), Charles Levi (Thrill Kill Kult) and Jordan Nogood (Nogooddesign).
Love all of h3llb3nt's releases. Their first release sets a great tone for the band with post-coldwave, literal whispers of cyberpunk and the clinical sounds of the digital, balanced nicely with Levi's signature funky basslines.
For 1996, the artwork seems to hint toward the digital precision a la The Designers Republic (95's Wipeout game/compilation) and typeface minimal-but-messy like Tomato (Underworld's '94 LP Dubnobasswithmyhead). Stuff we'd call today probably early Y2K Aesthetic or maybe even a smidge proto-Metalheart. (Nogood's design spans all of h3llb3nt releases but also recognizable in album artwork for haloblack's '94 LP >Tension Filter< and 16 Volt's '96 LP LetDownCrush).
The music is just as excellent. Few artists or releases sound much like this. Highly suggest starting with "Chromed", "3 Murders, 3 Nights" and "Burnout", but the entire album is stellar as a whole.

any industrial music recs? :)
Of course. Not sure if you mean bands or songs. Gonna do bands today because I usually rec individual songs. Listen to Chemlab, Snake River Conspiracy, ohGr, Powerman 5000, Author and Punisher. Im always saying to listen to Genitorturers but I do that often. Itd be too obvious of me to recommend NIN or Filter

got tagged by @honeysuckle-fae to spell out our URL using song titles :D it was rather tough, because apparently we mostly listen to music starting with the letter "s", but we made two playlists to show the two ends of our music taste. why not.
b - Bilgewater by Brown Bird (The Huntress and the Holder of Hands’ cover) u – Uwodzenie by Kapela ze Wsi Warszawa r - 老女優は去り行くby 美輪明宏 i – اشتقتلك by فيروز a – Аққу by Раушан Оразбаева l – Loan mắt nhung by Elvis Phương c - Cherry by Spellling l – Largo - Symphony No. 5 Op. 47 – composed by Dmitri Schostakovich, performed by WDR Philharmonic Orchestra o – Ostia (Death of Passolini) by Coil t -ツオルコフスキー・クレーターの無口な門 by 平沢進 h – Half Truth by Der Eisenrost
i don't really tag anyone.. but if you're reading this, feel invited to make this and tag me as if i mentioned you specifically!!
the second playlist ^__^
b – Body Betrays Itself by Pharmakon u – Umbro by Wieloryb r – Radio Miłość by Cool Kids of Death i – I Think I Want To by Pain Station a – And I Grew Into Ribbons by Street Sects l – Laggard by Gilla Band c – Chemical Halo by Chemlab l – Lecher Bitch by Genitortures o – Octavia Butler by Dreamcrusher t – THRESHOLD (Yellow Mix) by SOFT BALLET h – Heresy by Nine Inch Nails

umm 1 12 21 24 30. Okay?
1:A song you like with a color in the title
Tumblr media
I had more creative ones but I've been back on my Chemlab kick unfortunately for everyone. 12:A song from your preteen years
Tumblr media
21:A favorite song with a person’s name in the title
Tumblr media
I felt threatened by the thousands of songs I'd have to comb through in my attempt to remember one direclty and well I'd bet this one counts. 24:A song by a band you wish were still together
Tumblr media
I know I saw them on their final tour not long ago but oh my fucking god. 30:A song that reminds you of yourself

5 genres you have a soft spot for and personal favorite bands from them? Love to hear what music you find neat
You absolutely activated my autism trap card so I apologize in advance lmao I am VERY passionate about music. Gonna bold the ones I really like
1. INDUSTRIAL - KMFDM, ministry, orgy, my life with the thrill kill kult, nine inch nails, chemlab
2. PUNK - lots of subgenres here lmao
dead kennedys, bad brains, the clash, pure hell, minor threat, rancid, Bob vylan, circle jerks, crass, stiff little fingers
Queercore: pansy division (one of the best bands I've seen live), the muffs, middle aged queers (part of my local scene), hunx & his punx, against me! (Also anarchopunk but I don't wanna add another subgenre), gloss
Riot grrrl: (albeit there's a lot of issues wrt race among other things in that scene but the label is useful for categorizing) bikini kill, L7, bratmobile
Folk punk: AJJ (another fantastic band to see live), the taxpayers, oh lonesome ana (another one from my local scene)
3. NEW WAVE - talking heads, devo, Adam and the ants, Blondie, gang of four, the psychedelic furs, XTC, Elvis costello
4. DARKWAVE - using this as a very BROAD label
Older: sisters of mercy, Bauhaus, depeche mode, soft cell, new order
Newer: ritual howls, the soft moon, type o negative
5. OLDER ROCK - this is another really vague label sorry
Girl groups: the Supremes, the shangri-la's, Lesley gore, the shirelles
Blues & soul: Nina Simone, Billy Holliday, Nat king cole, otis Redding, Percy sledge
Country: Loretta Lynn, Wanda Jackson, Johnny cash, Dolly Parton
Folk: Arlo Guthrie, Pete Seeger, Phil Ochs, Peter Paul & Mary, Joan baez
And here's some other artists I really like that I couldn't squeeze into any of these 5 categories: Viagra boys, fugazi, Ezra Furman, Jane's addiction, hole, the boomtown rats, electric wizard, 100 gecs
I've also got a big mix of punk music, and a big playlist of stuff I play at work, plus playlist of jrock

can you list some of the industrial bands you like!!!
lol uumm. now that im being asked directly its like i cant remember a single artist/band i like 🫠i always worry my tastes are still kinda basic like most of my favorite groups are listed in that poll! nin, ministry, skinny puppy, kmfdm, front 242, nitzer ebb, front line assembly (mostly their older stuff tho their new stuff is. eh), death grips obviously, ho99o9..... some NOT on the list are chemlab, machines of loving grace, my life with the thrill kill kult, revolting cocks, rammstein, static-x, meat beat manifesto (their earlier stuff falls more under industrial than later stuff tho).
my music listening habits are atrocious bc i'll fixate on one artist/band for a few weeks and then switch to just putting on an industrial subgenre playlists with a ton of artists. lots of artists that i only know 1 song by 🫣 i would probably do better recommending individual songs or albums
