A celebration was in the works for your crew following a recent victory.
The horizon blushes with hues of orange and pink, its kiss with the sky mirrored by the gentle lapping of waves against The Sunny's hull.
Above, strings of shimmering lights twinkle like stars, casting a soft glow upon the gathering, as if the cosmos themselves had descended to partake in the festivities.
As the sun dips below the horizon, the deck of your ship transforms into a stage, bathed in the golden embrace of dusk, setting the scene for an evening of celebration
Amidst the joyous throng, laughter and music fill the air; liquor on your tongues.
Luffy whirls Chopper around in a playful dance, while Usopp and Franky share a merry jig, their spirits soaring in the jubilant atmosphere.
"Hey, Chopper, check this out! I'm gonna be the Pirate King of the dance floor, too!" Luffy exclaims with a wide grin, his enthusiasm contagious.
Chopper giggles, clinging to Luffy's arm as they whirl around. "You're doing great, Luffy! But try not to spin me too fast, I'm getting dizzy!"
Luffy chuckles, slowing down his movements slightly. "Sorry about that, Chopper! But hey, we've got to celebrate our victory properly, right? Dancing is the best way to do it!"
Chopper nods eagerly, his tiny hooves tapping along to the beat. "Absolutely, Captain! Let's keep dancing until the sun comes up!"
----
The ambiance is one of warmth, brightness, and sheer exuberance, a testament to the camaraderie and triumph that define the partygoers.
In the bustling midst of The Sunny's jubilant celebration, a lone figure perches at the makeshift bar, silently observing the lively scene unfolding before him. His eye is fixed on you, even amidst the swirling dance floor.
Your movements are graceful and carefree, dancing along with Nami and Robin as you giggle drunkenly.
As you sway and twirl with the girls, lost in the euphoria of the moment, you catch a glimpse of the swordsman seated at the bar. His eyes seem to linger on you, a silent observer amidst the festivities. You can't quite place the expression on his face – is it longing, admiration, or something else entirely?
Despite the haze of alcohol clouding your senses, you can't shake the feeling of being watched. The music pulses around you, the beat thrumming through your veins, but his steady gaze holds your attention like a lighthouse beacon cutting through the fog.
With each playful spin and merry laugh, you find yourself stealing glances in his direction. Zoro’s always been mysterious, but tonight, his stoic gaze feels… different.
“Too much to drink, y/n?” Nami giggles, “You keep looking at Zoro. He’s so boring, sitting there all alone,” she scoffs playfully.
“Oh shut up,” you giggle, playfully swatting at the navigator’s arm, “Says you! You can barely stand up straight!”
As you continue to dance with Nami, your mind can't help but wander back to the mysterious swordsman at the bar. Sensing your distraction, Robin gives you a knowing smile and gently nudges your arm.
"Lost in thought, dear?" Robin's voice is soft, barely audible above the music.
You nod sheepishly, feeling a flush of embarrassment creeping up your cheeks. "I can't shake the feeling that someone's watching me," you confess, casting another glance in Zoro's direction.
Robin follows your gaze, her expression thoughtful. "Zoro does seem particularly focused tonight," she observes, her eyes flickering with curiosity. "But perhaps it's not boredom that keeps him seated there alone."
Her words pique your interest, and you turn to her with a quizzical expression. "What do you mean, Robin?"
Robin offers you a reassuring smile, her gaze steady. "I've learned that sometimes, silence speaks louder than words. Perhaps Zoro has something on his mind that he's not quite ready to share."
----
As the music swells and your drinking continues, your curiosity gets the better of you. Excusing yourself from the dance, you navigate through the lively crowd towards the lone figure at the bar.
With each step, the anticipation builds within you, mingling with the alcohol-induced courage coursing through your veins. As you draw closer, you notice the subtle tension in Zoro's frame, a flicker of surprise crossing his features as he meets your gaze.
With a light sway in your step and a playful giggle escaping your lips, you approach him, the warmth of the alcohol coloring your cheeks. "Hey there, lone swordsman,” you chirp, “Mind if i join ya?” you don’t even wait for his response before sliding onto the stool beside him with a less-than-graceful plop.
Zoro's expression softens, a hint of amusement dancing in his eyes as he gestures to the stool, "Be my guest," he replies gruffly.
Zoro arches a brow, a faint smirk playing at the corners of his lips. "Looks like someone's had a bit too much fun," he observes, amusement evident in his tone.
You giggle again, nodding enthusiastically. "Maybe just a little," you admit, feeling a sudden burst of boldness fueled by the alcohol coursing through your veins. "But I couldn't resist coming to chat with the mysterious Zoro."
A chuckle escapes Zoro's throat as he leans back against the bar, his gaze meeting yours with a hint of intrigue. "Mysterious, huh?" he muses, swirling the contents of his drink thoughtfully. "I like the sound of that."
Perching on the stool, you steal a moment to take in his rugged features, the dim light casting shadows across his face. There's a quiet strength about him, an aura of mystery that draws you in.
"Sooooo, what's with the solitary act?" you slur playfully, “Why don’t ‘cha join us out there?”
Zoro chuckles, a low rumble that reverberates through the air. "Not my scene," he grumbles, taking a sip from his drink. "Besides, someone's gotta keep watch."
"Fair enoughhhh," you reply, your words trailing off as you glance back towards the dance floor where the party shows no signs of slowing down. The music pounds in your ears, and you find yourself swaying to the rhythm even as you sit at the bar.
For a moment, the two of you sit in comfortable silence, the music providing a soothing backdrop to your conversation. As you steal glances at Zoro, you can't help but wonder about the thoughts swirling behind his enigmatic gaze.
With a tipsy grin, you lean a little closer to Zoro, feeling a sudden surge of boldness. "You knowww," you begin, your words slightly slurred but filled with earnestness, "I've been thinking about you."
Zoro's eyebrows raise in mild surprise, his gaze shifting to meet yours with a mix of curiosity and amusement. "Oh, really?" he responds, his tone tinged with a hint of intrigue.
"Yeah," you continue, a playful lilt in your voice. "I mean, you're always off doing your own thing, being all mysterious and brooding... It's kinda hard not to think about you."
A ghost of a smile plays at the corners of Zoro's lips as he listens to your rambling confession. "Well, I suppose I should take that as a compliment," he remarks, his tone teasing yet genuine.
You nod enthusiastically, feeling a warmth spreading through you at his response. "Definitely," you affirm, a playful twinkle in your eye. "You've got this whole mysterious thing going on, and I gotta admit, it's pretty intriguing."
Zoro's gaze softens, a flicker of something unreadable dancing in his eyes. "I'm glad you think so," he replies, his voice quieter, now, more sincere.
"You've been thinking about me, too, right?" you tease, your words laced with playful skepticism. You flirtatiously twirl a strand of hair between your fingertips as you await his response.
Zoro's expression softens, a faint smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "Yeah," he admits before taking a sip of his drink, "But what makes you so sure of that?"
Your heart skips a beat at his confession, a warmth spreading through you at the thought of being on his mind. "Well, I can't say I'm surprised," you quip, a mischievous twinkle in your eye. "I mean, who wouldn't think about me?"
A low chuckle rumbles in Zoro's chest as he shakes his head in amusement. "You've got a point there," he concedes, his gaze intense as it lingers on you.
Emboldened by his admission, you take a sip of your drink before continuing. "It’s pretty obvious, you know, i've noticed all that staring," you toy, a hint of bashfulness creeping into your voice.
Zoro's eyebrows raise in mild surprise, his gaze meeting yours with a mixture of curiosity and something deeper. "Have you now?" he teases back.
You nod, feeling a rush of boldness coursing through you. "Yeah," you reply, a flush creeping across your cheeks. "And I have to say, I kinda like it."
A flicker of something unreadable dances in Zoro's eyes as he leans in closer, his breath warm against your skin. "Well, then," he murmurs, his voice barely above a whisper, "Maybe we should do something about it."
As Zoro's breath grazes your skin, sending a surge of anticipation coursing through you. The air crackles with tension, each moment stretching out as you wait for his next move.
With a boldness you didn't know you possessed, you lean in closer, your lips hovering just inches from his. "I think that's a fantastic idea," you whisper, your voice barely audible over the soft music that still fills the air.
Zoro's gaze darkens with desire as he closes the remaining distance between you, his lips capturing yours in a searing kiss that ignites a fire deep within your core. In that moment, all doubts and reservations melt away, leaving only the raw, undeniable passion that burns between you.
With a shared breathless smile, Zoro gently takes your delicate hand in his calloused one, his touch causing sparks to erupt beneath your skin. "Come with me," he murmurs, his voice husky with desire, “Too crowded here.”
You nod, your heart pounding in your chest as you follow him through the dimly lit corridors of the ship. Each step brings you closer to an unknown destination, yet you trust in the magnetic pull drawing you towards him.
----
As you walk together in silence, the air thick with anticipation, you steal glances at Zoro, admiring the way his muscles flex beneath his fitted shirt and the intensity in his eyes. Despite the darkness of the corridor, you feel a warmth spreading through you, fueled by the promise of what's to come.
Finally, you arrive at Zoro's quarters, the door sliding open with a soft hiss. Stepping inside, you're enveloped in the intimate glow of candlelight, casting shadows that dance across the walls.
Before you can even catch your breath, Zoro presses you firmly against the wall, his strength evident in his forcefullness.
With a hunger that matches your own, Zoro leans in closer, his lips capturing yours in a fierce, possessive kiss. It's as if he's staking his claim, pouring all his pent-up desire and longing into your lips.
“Mm,” he groans lowly into your mouth.
Filled with a surge of daring, you lift your hand to tangle your fingers in his hair, urging him closer. You revel in the intoxicating taste of him—a mingling of sea salt and booze—it electrifies your senses. His presence is overpowering, emitting a primal scent of sweat and masculinity, tempered only by a faint hint of weak cologne.
Your tongues collide in a fierce, passionate dance, each movement conveying a raw hunger and urgency that leaves you breathless. It's as if you're drowning, and his mouth is your lifeline.
You feel the corners of his lips curling into a knowing smirk at your desperation, and in a swift, decisive motion, he seizes the opportunity to grasp your wrists firmly. With a firm yet gentle touch, he maneuvers your arms above your head, pinning them against the wall as he presses his body against yours.
“Needy thing, aren’t ya?” he grins wolfishly, making heat pool in your core.
With a low growl, he leans in closer, his lips trailing a path of fire along your jawline and down to your neck.
Your head instinctively lulls back, giving him more access to your throat.
“Mm, Zoro,” you huff lustfully, “Want you so bad…”
As he continues to sloppily kiss down the column of your neck, he brings his right knee up to slot between your legs, making you gasp softly into his mouth.
“Come on, baby,” he groans.
Zoro's hands abandon their place around your wrists, descending to grip your breasts firmly. His calloused palms mold your soft flesh, eliciting a small squeak of delight from your lips.
“F-Fuck,” you curse softly.
As you continue to rock your hips against him, the heat between you intensifies, the tension building to an almost unbearable peak. His touch is urgent, his kisses hungry, as if he's determined to consume you entirely.
"Do you like that, y/n?" he growls against your neck, his voice thick with desire. "Losing yourself on me like this?"
Driven by an insatiable need, your hands find their way to his back, your nails digging into his muscles as you cling to him desperately.
"M-mhm," you whimper in agreement, unable to form coherent words as you lose your composure.
His grip on your breasts tightens, sending a jolt of pleasure straight to your core. You can feel the primal urgency in his touch, the intensity of his desire mirrored in the way he ravishes you.
But suddenly, he stops, making you whine out at the loss of contact as he slowly pulls away from you.
His eyes are hungry as you looks you over. Iris moving up and down your form like a predator stalking its prey.
“Get on your knees,” he grumbles lustfully.
His command sends a shiver down your spine, and yet, you obey immediately, sinking to your knees before the swordsman.
As you lower yourself, you feel a surge of heat pooling in your core, the anticipation of what's to come making your heart pound within your chest.
Without a word, he reaches out, his fingers tangling in your hair as he gently guides your head forward.
You inhale sharply, your breath catching in your throat as you feel his warmth close in on you. And then, you do as you have been silently told, pressing your lips to his skin, kissing him with a fervor born of pure desire.
His arousal is evident; rock hard and pulsing beneath each press of your lips to his crotch.
His toned arms snake down, deftly tugging at his pants and pulling them down along with his boxers in one fluid motion. His cock springs free, bobbing against his muscular abdomen, a potent symbol of his arousal.
Your breath hitches in your throat as you take in the sight of the man before you. He’s magnificent.  His cock is big, thick; looks heavy, even.
As your eyes roam over him, he notices your reaction and smirks, a self-satisfied chuckle escaping his lips. He takes your chin between his fingertips, tilting your gaze upwards to meet his.
"Don't drool now," he teases, his voice laced with smug confidence, knowing damn well how well-endowed he is.
You swallow hard, your cheeks flushing with desire as you meet his gaze. His confidence is intoxicating, his dominance igniting a primal hunger within you that demands to be sated.
With trembling hands, you reach out, unable to resist the temptation before you. Your fingers trace along the length of his cock, marveling at its girth and hardness.
He groans softly at your touch, his eyes darkening with desire as he watches you with hungry anticipation. Encouraged by his response, you wrap your hand around him, feeling the weight of him in your grasp.
"Fuck," he breathes out, his voice husky with need.
You continue to stroke him, your movements becoming more confident as you explore every inch of him eagerly.
His breaths grow heavier with each stroke, his hips involuntarily thrusting forward to meet your touch.
“Open your mouth,” he rasps.
You comply eagerly, parting your lips to accommodate him as he guides himself towards you.
He watches you intently, his gaze smoldering with lust as he revels in the sight of you submitting to him so willingly.
With a groan of satisfaction, he slides into your mouth, filling you completely with his hardness. You take him eagerly, savoring the taste of him, the weight of him on your tongue.
As he fills your mouth, you can't help but moan in pleasure, the sensation of him stretching you sending waves of ecstasy coursing through your body.
"Mm," you moan around him, the sound vibrating against his skin and sending a shiver down his spine.
Encouraged by your response, he begins to move, thrusting gently into your mouth as he sets a steady rhythm.
“Fuck,” he groans, letting his head fall back, “Such a good girl, taking me so well.”
You revel in the praise that falls from his lips, a delicious affirmation of your obedience.
You can feel the thick tip of his cock meeting the back of your throat with each thrust, but you dismiss the discomfort, you just want to please him.
As you continue to take him deeper, you can feel the intensity of his desire growing, his breaths coming in ragged gasps as he nears the edge.
But instead of welcoming his orgasm, Zoro catches your face in his hand, holding your jaw to make you halt your efforts.
"Stand up," he commands huskily, his voice thick with need as he withdraws from your mouth.
You giggle playfully, wiping the drool from your chin. "Jeez, Zoro," you tease, "On your knees, open your mouth, stand up,” you mock, “What's next? You want me to do a handstand?"
Zoro smirks, a hint of amusement dancing in his eyes. "Do you want me to fuck you or not?" he grumbles, his tone laced with desire and impatience.
Your playful demeanor melts away at the threat of his words, replaced by a surge of arousal. With a playful roll of your eyes, you comply, rising to your feet and turning to face him, anticipation thrumming through your veins as you await his next move.
With a firm yet gentle hand, he guides you towards the wall, pressing your chest-first against its cool surface. The contact sends a shiver of pleasure coursing through you, heightening the intensity of your arousal.
As you’re pressed breasts against the wall, you can feel the heat of his body against your back, his presence looming over you with an almost palpable intensity.
He presses himself against you, his hardness pressing into the small of your back.
You gasp at the contact, the heat of his arousal searing against your skin as you feel the full weight of his desire pressing into you. It's a delicious torment, the promise of pleasure mingling with the anticipation of what's to come.
"Feel how much I want you," Zoro's voice is low and husky against your ear as he presses himself closer, his breath hot against your skin.
You tremble at his words, “I-I want you, too, Zoro,” you whine.
He lets out a low growl of satisfaction, his hands trailing down your sides as he pulls your hips back to get you closer.
"Good," he murmurs, his lips brushing against your ear from behind, “Tell me how bad you want it, y/n, Or I won’t give it to you at all.”
Your breath hitches at his ultimatum. "I want it so bad, Zoro.” you whimper needily,  “I need you to fuck me. Please."
You can’t see his face, but you swear you can feel his familiar smirk as he speaks against your ear, "That's what I wanted to hear," he murmurs, his voice dripping with satisfaction.
With a firm grip on his cock, he guides the tip to nudge at your weeping entrance, teasing you with the promise of entry. You gasp at the sensation, your breath catching in your throat as you await the intrusion.
He begins pressing himself inside you, groaning at the feeling of you stretching out around him. With each inch, he delves deeper, filling you completely with his throbbing hardness. The sensation is overwhelming, sending waves of both pleasure and pain coursing through your body.
“O-Oh, Zoro-!” you cry out weakly.
He leans forward, his breath hot against your skin as he bites along your nape,
"Sh-Shit," he curses through gritted teeth, his voice strained with pleasure, "So tight-" His words trail off into a guttural groan as he buries himself deep inside you, unable to resist the overwhelming sensation of being enveloped by your warmth.
You gasp at the feeling of him filling you completely, your body pulsating with pleasure as you surrender to the intoxicating intrusion.
His hand snakes up to grip the back of your neck as he finally begins to thrust in and out of you.
“Fuck-!” you whimper, your attempts to dig your nails into the wall futile against the onslaught of pleasure.
With a firm grip on your neck, he develops a steady rhythm, keeping you pressed against the wall as he moves in and out of you. Each thrust hits your sweet spot with precision, sending waves of ecstasy rippling through your body.
“Shit,” he groans, “You squeeze me so tight-”
A symphony of moans and gasps spills from your lips, mingling with his own guttural groans of pleasure. The room is quickly filled with the rhythmic sound of your bodies colliding, a passionate cacophony that echoes off the walls.
With a sudden motion, he pulls back slightly, his hand leaving your neck and landing firmly on your exposed ass, delivering a sharp spank that sends a jolt of pleasure coursing through you.
You gasp at the sudden sensation, your body instinctively arching towards him, craving more of the delicious sting. The impact leaves a tingling warmth in its wake, heightening the intensity of your arousal.
"Zoro," you whimper, your voice a mixture of pleasure and desire, your nails digging into the wall as you brace yourself for more.
Encouraged by your response, he delivers another spank, each strike awakening a primal hunger within you.
With each spank, he relishes in the way your body reacts, the way you gasp and arch towards him, begging for more.
"Such a slut for me," he growls, "You like it rough, don't you?"
You whimper in response, unable to form coherent words as pleasure courses through you, mingling with the sting of his touch.
He chuckles darkly, the sound sending shivers down your spine. "That's it," he murmurs, his voice low and husky, "Let me hear how much you enjoy it."
You moan in response, the sensation of his hand against your skin driving you to the edge of ecstasy.
The pace of his thrusts never falters as he grants you with more delicious spanks.
He’s thrusting rougher, now, impressed with how much you can take.
"You take me so good, y/n," he groans, his voice strained with desire and admiration. The praise only fuels your arousal further, spurring you on as you both chase the heights of pleasure together.
“Th-Thank you, Zoro,” you whimper weakly, “You fuck me so good-”
You're both teetering on the brink of release as he continues moving in and out of you, the tension coiling tighter with each passing moment. His breath comes in ragged gasps against your ear, matching the rhythm of your moans as you both surrender to the pleasure of the moment.
"Fuck, y/n," he groans, his voice strained with desire, "I'm so close..."
You whimper in response, the pleasure overwhelming as you feel the heat building deep within you. With each thrust, you edge closer and closer to the pinnacle of ecstasy.
With a final, desperate thrust, you both topple over the edge of ecstasy. Zoro groans as he spills inside you, unapologetically painting your insides white.
And with that, the tension that had been coiling within your lower tummy finally snaps, releasing a torrent of pleasure that sends shockwaves through your veins and straight to your head. Colors explode beneath your eyelids as you're consumed by the intensity of your climax, every nerve ending ablaze with sensation.
In that moment, there's only the two of you, engulfed throes of pleasure.
----
The following morning, as the golden rays of sunlight filter through the windows of the ship, you and Zoro emerge from his quarters, your steps in sync as you walk side by side. There's a subtle ease in the air between you, a silent understanding of the shared intimacy that had transpired between you the night before.
As you enter the dining room, the crew's eyes dart up from their breakfast plates, their expressions a mix of curiosity and amusement. Sanji's eyebrows shoot up in surprise, a knowing smirk playing at the corners of his lips, while Nami's eyes sparkle with mischief as she exchanges a glance with Robin.
Nami's mischievous grin widens as she leans back in her chair, her eyes flickering between you and Zoro. "Sounds like you two had fun last night," she quips, her tone dripping with playful innuendo.
You feel a flush creep up your cheeks at her teasing remark, but before you can respond, Zoro interjects with his usual gruff demeanor. "Mind your own business, navigator," he retorts, though there's a faint hint of amusement in his voice.
Luffy, ever oblivious to subtleties, beams at the two of you, his mouth already full of food. "Morning, guys! Did you sleep well?" he chirps, completely unaware of the implications of his question.
You exchange a glance with Zoro, a hint of amusement dancing in your eyes as you both share a silent understanding. With a shrug, Zoro responds in his typical gruff manner, "Like a log."

YOU WAKE UP THE NEXT MORNING with a throbbing headache, a dry mouth, and a vague sense of unease. The memory of the previous night is hazy at best, and you struggle to piece together what happened after the surreal dance with the mysterious figure.
The first thing you notice is that you're in your shared bunk with Nami. It's a relief to be back on the ship, surrounded by the familiar sounds and smells, but the memories of the night before start to flood back.
The only clear memory that haunted your mind was the image of Sanji dancing with another girl.
The jealousy and insecurity stemming from that image weighed on your chest like an anchor, making your mood grumpy and your thoughts cloudy. You couldn't shake the feeling that something had changed between you and Sanji, even though you couldn't remember the details of what had transpired afterward.
As you sit up, the hangover hits you like a ton of bricks. You groan and clutch your head, trying to alleviate the pounding pain. The room spins for a moment, and you wonder if it's a punishment for drinking too much.
Gingerly, you make your way to the ship's kitchen, hoping to find something to ease your hangover. The crew is already up and about, and they greet you with smiles and cheerful morning greetings. But you can't shake the heavy feeling that's settled in your chest.
Sanji is there, too, preparing breakfast. His attention is on the meal he's cooking, and you can't help but steal glances at him. The memory of him dancing with that girl, his smile and charm, gnaws at you. You can't bring yourself to talk to him, not with the grumpiness and insecurity that's settled in your mind.
Breakfast is served, and you join the crew at the table. The food is delicious, as always, thanks to Sanji's culinary skills. However, you can't fully enjoy it, the hangover making every bite and sip feel like a challenge.
“Hey, Y/N . . . Uh - you alright?” Usopp was the first to speak.
“Swell.” You say with gritted teeth, the grip on your fork tightening as you stab at your food.
Usopp exchanged a glance with Nami and then looked back at you, clearly concerned.
“You sure you're okay, Y/N?” he asked, his voice laced with genuine worry.
You forced a smile and nodded, though it was clear that your gritted teeth and the intensity of your gaze were anything but reassuring. “Yeah, just a hangover is all.” you replied, your voice slightly strained.
Sanji had anticipated that you might wake up with a hangover, particularly given the enthusiastic way you had indulged in drinks the previous night. The memory of how you had insisted on more drinks, his own amusement at your spirited antics, was still fresh in his mind.
With his usual chivalry and concern for the well-being of the crew, he swiftly prepared a dish of freshly cooked eggs. Their warmth and nourishing qualities were a time-tested remedy for hangovers. He placed the steaming plate in front of you, his signature warm smile gracing his features.
“Here, Y/N,” he said, his voice gentle and comforting, “a little something to help with your headache.”
You met his gaze, your eyes still clouded by the remnants of your hangover. His kindness tugged at your heart, but the unease and jealousy that had plagued you since the night before still lingered in the corners of your mind. Despite the warmth of his gesture, you found it difficult to fully embrace the comfort he offered.
As the crew carried on with their meal, a palpable tension lingered in the air, like a heavy fog that refused to dissipate. It was evident to all aboard the Going Merry that something weighed on you, casting a shadow over the cheerful morning routine.
Though their concern was unspoken, it hung in the air like an unasked question. Each crew member felt the unease that had settled among them. They exchanged subtle glances and shared whispered conversations, their worry for you etched in their expressions. Despite the curiosity and the genuine care they held for you, no one dared to intrude on your private turmoil.
After you had pushed your food around your plate, feigning an appetite you didn't possess, you rose from your seat. Your departure was as quiet as your arrival. With a nod to the crew, you left the table, your absence an unspoken invitation for them to carry on without you.
Zoro couldn't help but raise an inquisitive eyebrow as he watched you leave. His curiosity, as always, was as straightforward as his speech. He muttered with a hint of bewilderment, “What's her deal?”
Luffy, his mouth still full of food, contributed to the conversation with a nonchalant shrug.
“Beats me,” he mumbled between bites, “maybe she ate something weird.”
Zoro couldn't contain his exasperation at Luffy's seemingly simplistic assessment of the situation. He rolled his eyes and shook his head. “Not everything is about food, you know,” he retorted, leaning back on his chair.
Nami focused her inquisitive gaze on Sanji, who had been the central figure in the previous night's events. “Did something happen last night?” she asked, her voice carrying a mix of curiosity and genuine concern. “Sanji, you were with her all night.”
Sanji, who had been quietly tending to some dishes, paused for a moment, his brows furrowing as he thought of last night. He was aware that something had unsettled you, and he knew that he needed to address the situation, even if it meant sharing the hazy memories of the previous night.
“There was a dance, and we spent some time together,” he began, choosing his words carefully. “But it was just a moment, nothing more.”
Nami's gaze shifted between Sanji and the empty seat where you had been sitting. She knew there was more to the story, but she also respected your privacy. “Well, something seems to be bothering her,” she remarked.
Sanji's jaw tightened, a mixture of frustration and concern in his eyes as he realized the impact of the previous night on you. “I'll talk to her,” he promised, determined to help you work through your feelings and put the unspoken tension to rest.
The day goes on and you can't help but feel distant. You respond to your crewmates with short, monosyllabic answers, and your headache and unease keep you from fully immersing yourself in the adventures and camaraderie you usually relish.
When Sanji attempted to strike up a conversation, you couldn't help but respond with curt and distant replies. The unease and jealousy that had taken root in your heart kept you at arm's length from him, despite his genuine attempts to bridge the gap.
“Sanji, I'm fine. Can we not do this?” You sighed, the frustration evident in your voice as you tried to brush aside his concerns.
Sanji, his concern for you clear in his eyes, hesitated to press further, but the unspoken questions and a growing sense of unease weighed on him. “But -”
“Sanji - seriously. Drop it.” you interrupted, your tone final, leaving him with a sense of helplessness and unanswered questions.
Zoro, watching from a distance, muttered, “This is painful to watch.” his eyebrow quirked as he observed the situation.
Nami, never one to resist an opportunity to meddle in matters of the heart, leaned in with a mischievous glint in her eye. “Eh,” she said with a sly smile, “They just need a little push.”
Zoro raised an eyebrow at Nami's statement, his skepticism evident in his expression. “A little push? With those two, it's more like a cannonball to the heart.”
Nami's grin widened as she shrugged, her confidence undeterred. “Well, Zoro, sometimes you need a cannonball to break down the walls people build around themselves. Besides, it's about time they figure it out.”
“Figure out what?” Luffy chimed in.
Ussop shot a glance at Luffy and deadpanned, “Seriously, man?” He gestured to Sanji and you with both hands, as if the situation should speak for itself.
As the day progresses, the hangover slowly starts to subside. You find yourself retreating to your bunk, wanting some solitude to sort out your thoughts and emotions.
“Stupid Sanji.” you muttered under your breath, your tone a mixture of exasperation and affection, a dichotomy that had become all too familiar. The object of your thoughts was both a source of irritation and a wellspring of attraction. His charm, his suave demeanor, and yes, even his immaculate hair, had always held an undeniable allure for you.
The weight of confusion and insecurity bore down on you like a heavy anchor, and in your bunk, alone with your thoughts, you couldn't contain the frustration any longer. The pillow, your silent confidant in moments of despair, became a temporary vessel for your pent-up emotions.
With a muffled scream, you buried your face in the fabric, muffling the sound of your anguish as you unleashed a torrent of emotions into the cushion. The muffled cry served as a release, a catharsis for the tangled mess of feelings that had knotted within you since the previous night.
“Okay, Y/N spit it out.” A voice suddenly spoke up - Nami. She was leaning against the door, her arms folded, she fixed you with an unyielding gaze. Her expression conveyed both curiosity and encouragement, urging you to release the pent-up emotions that had been plaguing you.
You met Nami's determined gaze, her presence a reassuring anchor in the sea of uncertainty that had surrounded you. Her understanding expression encouraged you to open up, even if you were unsure of the validity of your own feelings.
Taking a deep breath, you confessed, “I don't know, Nami... It's stupid. I don't know why I'm so pent up about it.”
“Y/N, it's not stupid.”  Nami replied, her voice gentle and reassuring. “We all have moments that bother us, and it's perfectly normal to feel this way. Sometimes, talking about it can help you understand your own feelings better.”
Your shoulders relaxed slightly, and you appreciated Nami's calming presence. “I just... I saw Sanji with another girl last night, and it's been bothering me more than it should. I can't even remember much about what happened afterward, but that image is stuck in my head.”
Nami couldn't help but sigh in exasperation. The complexities of love and emotions, especially when it came to Sanji, were something she had become well-acquainted with during her time as a member of the Straw Hat crew. She knew all too well that Sanji's feelings for you were far from a secret, and it sometimes left her both amused and bemused by the situation.
“This guy, I swear.” she muttered under her breath, a wry smile tugging at the corner of her lips. While she could understand your feelings and the turmoil that had arisen from the events of the previous night, Nami also knew that untangling the web of emotions involving Sanji was a task in itself. But, she was determined to help you find your way through it.
Nami's expression softened, and she leaned in closer. Her words were filled with a sense of wisdom and genuine concern. “Look, Y/N, I know this might be complicated, especially with Sanji involved, but you can't keep this bottled up. You need to talk to him. See where his head is at. You might be surprised.”
As the days turned into weeks, the growing distance between you and Sanji became undeniable. Determined to clear the air and address the tension that had settled between you, you made several attempts to find a moment alone with him. However, every time you approached, he seemed to find a reason to excuse himself or was conveniently engrossed in tasks around the ship.
His avoidance was frustrating and left you feeling dejected. You had worked up the courage to talk to him about the issue, but it was as if he was actively avoiding the conversation, leaving you with a growing sense of uncertainty and frustration.
With every missed opportunity to discuss your feelings and concerns, the gap between you and Sanji widened, creating a palpable tension that neither of you could ignore. The unspoken words hung heavy in the air, and you couldn't help but wonder how you would ever bridge the gap that had grown between you.

Giving him the love he deserves (Sanji x Reader) Part 4- Ending
Note: Reader is still Mc (Main Character), but I made it sound like it’s a name! I’m still too lazy to think of a real name. Forgive me!
The prompt for the story is: “The reader gets sucked into One Piece after wishing that someone would love Sanji like he is supposed to be loved, as nobody has given him a chance. She would love to give him that chance if only she could. One time, she was in her room, falling asleep while recording her voice for a cover request sent to her. When she woke up, she found herself in a boat floating, wearing pieces of jewelry fit for nobility. Her neck, ears, and bracelets were all glittering in the darkness.” Part 4 under the cut.  Part 1,  Part 2, and Part 3 are here!
Tumblr media
Amidst the ruins of Arlong Park, the Straw Hat Pirates stood victorious, their figures illuminated by the soft glow of the setting sun. Luffy had triumphed over the formidable Arlong, and the fishmen who once terrorized Nami's village were now subdued and defeated. Nami's eyes shimmered with unshed tears of relief and gratitude as she rushed towards her saviors, her embrace tight and heartfelt.
"You guys did it! You saved my village!" Nami's voice cracked with emotion, her gaze moving from one crew member to another, her gratitude overflowing.
Usopp, grinned proudly, puffing his chest out. "We're the Straw Hat Pirates, after all! Saving villages is what we do best!"
Zoro offered a rare, approving nod. His injuries might have slowed him down, but the genuine gratitude in Nami's eyes lifted his spirits. “Not like we got a choice, you’re one of us,” he grunted, a hint of a smile tugging at his lips.
Nami turned to Mc, her eyes softening with curiosity and affection. "And Mc, your voice! How did you manage to put the fishmen in a daze like that? It was incredible!"
Mc smiled mysteriously, her eyes holding a depth of knowledge beyond her years. “I just figured out a few years ago when I arrived in this world,” she replied casually, though her gaze hinted at hidden mysteries.
Nami frowned, puzzled by Mc's cryptic response. "Your world? What do you mean?"
Mc winked playfully. "I promise, I'll tell you all about it sometime. Oh, and by the way, nice choice on the new tattoo design. It suits you perfectly." Nami's jaw practically hit the floor in shock. It was as if Mc had read her mind.
As the crew basked in the glory of their victory, a sudden, ominous presence cast a shadow over them. Garp, the legendary Marine Vice Admiral, appeared before them, his stern gaze fixed on the Straw Hat Pirates. Panic rippled through the crew. Luffy's carefree expression turned serious, and even Zoro, in his injured state, straightened up, ready for a fight.
Mc's head was spinning, her thoughts a whirlwind of confusion and frustration. This wasn't how the story was supposed to go. She muttered under her breath, her voice a mix of disbelief and frustration. "This isn't right. This isn't how it happened in the story!"
Sanji, standing beside her, sensed her distress. He placed a comforting hand on her shoulder, his touch gentle yet reassuring. "What do you mean, Darling? What's bothering you?"
She shook her head, her eyes clouded with uncertainty. "I... I know these events. I've read about them, watched them, but this... Garp shouldn't be here. We shouldn't be facing this threat now. It’s way too soon!”
Sanji's brow furrowed with concern. He pulled her close, his voice low and soothing. "Well, we've faced worse, haven't we? We'll get through this, just like we always do."
But Mc was hyperventilating, her panic rising. “You don’t understand, love. This skipped a whole lot of volumes. Oh god, it’s my fault being here.”
Sanji's eyes softened with worry. "Darling, don't say that. We'll find a way out of this."
Luffy, overhearing their conversation, chimed in with his usual confidence. “You don’t have to know everything! It won’t be fun that way, Mc!”
Nami, ever the strategic thinker, started considering their options. "We can't take on Garp directly, especially with Zoro injured. We need a plan, something that will let us escape without a fight."
Mc, brought back from her spiral of anxiety by Sanji's comforting kiss on her forehead, chimed in, her voice steady. “Fighting is not going to be an option ever. Garp is way too strong.”
Usopp, his eyes wide with fear, added, "What about the Going Merry? We can escape by sea!"
Nami nodded in agreement. "Good thinking, Usopp! Let's head back to the ship. Mc, can you use your powers to keep the marines subdued while we make our escape?"
Mc nodded, her confidence returning with Sanji's reassuring presence. "Of course. I'll do my best to buy us some time. Let's get back to the ship, everyone. We'll figure this out together." When they turned, the Marines and Garp were there. The plan failed from the start.
Amidst the fading twilight, Garp's unexpected decision hung heavy in the air. The tension that gripped the Straw Hat Pirates began to dissipate like a storm giving way to a calm sea. Mc, still reeling from the sudden turn of events, felt Garp's eyes on her, as if he had sensed the secrets she carried within her.
With the weight of Luffy's stubborn determination, Garp's formidable presence, and the unspoken words that passed between them, the crew found themselves in a surreal moment of silence. Garp, after a fierce clash with Luffy, had somehow been convinced to let them go. The focus of his rage shifted from the Straw Hat crew to the real enemy: Arlong and his vile pirates.
As the dust settled, the crew found themselves forced into a celebration. Cocoyashi Village, once under the oppressive rule of Arlong, was finally free. The nearby villages joined in the festivities, their gratitude palpable in the air. And amidst the joyous atmosphere, Sanji, the ever-chivalrous cook of the crew, took it upon himself to prepare a feast for the liberated villagers.
In the heart of the village, amidst the aromatic melodies of sizzling ingredients and the harmonious clatter of pots and pans, Sanji's hands moved with the grace of a seasoned artist. Each movement was deliberate, each touch purposeful, transforming humble ingredients into culinary masterpieces. The village itself seemed to come alive with the symphony of their movements, a dance orchestrated by Sanji's culinary expertise and Mc's careful serving, her every glance and touch laden with affection.
"You know, you never really taught me how to cook, Ji," Mc mused, her tone playful as she watched Sanji work his magic.
Sanji, the ever-charming cook, smirked, his eyes gleaming with mischief. "You never asked. You just kept watching me. Not that I don’t love that."
With determination in her eyes, Mc nodded enthusiastically. "Okay, give me recipes and I’ll try!"
Sanji's brow furrowed in mock seriousness, "I don’t know about sharing my recipes," he teased, his tone laced with feigned reluctance.
"But you just told me it’s because I never asked!" Mc countered, a playful pout forming on her lips.
A mischievous glint entered Sanji's eyes, and he couldn't resist a playful challenge. "Well, I suppose I can be talked into offering private lessons," he said, his voice lowering seductively, a playful smirk dancing on his lips.
"Oh, I’d love some private lessons," Mc responded with a giggle, her eyes sparkling with amusement, fully aware of the effect she had on her flirtatious lover.
Around them, the villagers observed and interpreted them as signs of a budding romance. Whispers floated through the air like leaves carried by a gentle breeze, their voices barely audible but charged with excitement.
"Hey, lad! You ought to make her your girlfriend! She's smitten with you!" one villager teased, nudging his companion with a knowing grin, his voice intentionally loud enough for the couple to hear.
Sanji, his usual suave demeanor undisturbed, responded with a chuckle that danced through the kitchen like music. "Way ahead of you! She's already agreed to be my wife," he announced, his voice a velvety blend of confidence and charm that sent a ripple of amused laughter through the crowd.
The villagers shared knowing glances, their eyes twinkling with amusement. "Good for you, mate!" they chimed in, their voices a chorus of playful encouragement.
Caught off guard by his nonchalant yet audacious announcement, Mc felt her cheeks flush with a delightful mix of surprise and affection. She turned to him, her eyes wide with astonishment, her lips slightly parted as she searched for words amidst the lively banter of the villagers. "When did you propose?" she stammered, her voice a soft melody amidst the bustling sounds of the kitchen.
Sanji, his focus still on the pot he was stirring, shot her a quick, sidelong glance, his eyes smoldering with intensity. "You've racked up quite the debt with all the food I've been bribing you with," he replied, his tone teasing, yet laden with a depth of emotion that only she could decipher. And then, with a flirtatious wink that set her heart aflutter, he added, "I remember vividly you said you don’t mind and I’ve kept my end of the bargain."
A gasp of delight escaped Mc's lips, her heart skipping a beat at his words. His confidence, his unwavering certainty, and the promise in his eyes stirred a whirlwind of emotions within her. "You remembered!" she exclaimed with a radiant smile, her eyes sparkling with affection, marveling at his ability to recall the very words she had spoken when she asked him to take her out on the date. With a playful wink, it sent Mc down memory lane. He added, “I planned on keeping you with me forever right there and then. Didn’t know you were going to ask me to take you out on a date. But I’m not complaining that just pushed the plan along.”
“Planned it all along huh?” Mc playfully teased.
"Why do you think you are getting so much expensive food and snacks that last for years?" Sanji playfully questioned, his voice a low, intimate murmur, his gaze fixed on her, drowning in the depths of her eyes. "I'm holding on to that, just adding rings and all that."
In that moment, amidst the fragrant aroma of the feast he prepared, Mc felt a surge of overwhelming love. The world around them faded away, leaving only the two of them in their cocoon of affection and promise. "Fiancé it is, then!" she declared, her laughter bubbling with joy, sealing their unspoken vows with the sweet melody of her voice.
"As much as that sounds amazing," Sanji added, his voice laced with playful affection, "I’d rather have the husband title and call you my wife."
Mc huffed playfully, narrowing her eyes at him. "Oh yeah?"
"My endearment, darling, seems lonely," Sanji continued, his tone flirtatiously teasing. "Making it 'Darling Wife'... well, it just makes it better."
Mc shook her head, her eyes softening with affection, unable to hide her smile. "You never cease to amaze me, Ji." With a playful glint in her eyes, she added, "Husband it is, then."
Amidst the laughter of the village and the backdrop of the endless sea, Mc found herself lost in thought, her mind drifting back to the countless meals and snacks Sanji had fed her over the years. She couldn't help but marvel at the fact that despite the indulgence, she didn't gain a single pound.
"I assure you, my darling, you look as exquisite as ever," Sanji purred, his voice dripping with flirtatious innuendo. His eyes twinkled mischievously as he glanced at her appreciatively, a habitual flirtation that never seemed to fade.
"I just can’t believe I haven’t gained so much weight from all those delicious meals," Mc admitted, her tone a mixture of awe and amusement, her eyes narrowing playfully at Sanji.
Sanji's grin widened, his confidence unshakable. "I don't think you ever will," he replied, his words laced with a hint of arrogance and a lot of adoration.
"How can you be so sure?" Mc teased, raising an eyebrow in playful skepticism.
“You burn all those calories-" Sanji said matter-of-factly, his tone confident.
"Serving is exercise. Huh?"
"-With me at night," he added, his voice dropping to a seductive murmur, his gaze smoldering with desire.
Mc gasped, her cheeks flushing crimson as she covered Sanji's mouth with her hand, a futile attempt to silence him. She glanced around, her eyes wide with embarrassment, but it was futile – the villagers nearby had overheard, and so had the rest of the crew, including Nami, who was trying her best not to burst into laughter.
"You know, I don’t know if I like the idea of a married couple on board," Nami teased playfully, her tone laden with amusement as she joined the banter, unable to resist the opportunity.
"Ah, madame, I assure you, we have mastered the art of silence," Sanji replied smoothly, his charm undiminished despite the situation. His eyes sparkled with mischief, fully aware of the effect he had on Mc.
"JI!" Mc exclaimed again, her embarrassment deepening, her eyes playfully narrowing at him.
"That's exactly how you gasped my name," Sanji retorted, his tone teasing, his gaze smoldering with affection and playful desire. He tapped his chin and grinned at his crewmate. “We also mastered stealth at this point.”
“Ji! We have been caught before!”
“I never said we have never been caught,” Sanji smirked. “We got better at it, didn’t we? People in Baratie think after getting caught we had stopped and have a chaste relationship. Little did they know-”
Zoro and Usopp shook their heads as Mc covered Sanji’s shameless mouth and he kissed her hand, reassuring her that's all the audience are getting.
She couldn't help but be flustered by Sanji's shameless flirting, even after all these years. But deep down, she cherished every moment of it, appreciating the unwavering affection he showered upon her.
The crew chuckled at their interaction, their camaraderie stronger than ever. In the midst of the lighthearted banter, their ship sailed forward, carrying the Straw Hat Pirates and their engaged couple, Mc and Sanji, towards new adventures, laughter, and the enduring warmth of love. The sea stretched out before them, endless and full of mysteries, just like the love that bloomed amidst the crew, a love as boundless and eternal as the ocean itself. ══════════════════

JOYBOY LUFFY X LUNALA READER VS KAIDO PT4
Okay... I think this is the final one!
Previously, you and luffy use maximum power to defeat kaido, but kaido has an idea, covering himself a gaint fire of himself.
And you with your shadow monster form:
Tumblr media
And you use your ability called Menacing Moonraze Maelstrom:
Tumblr media
"Let's fight it out! Straw Hat!" Kaido yelled, he Flys toward Luffy metal hand by opening his jaw. "Are they going to destroy onigashima?!" Momonosake yelled.
"Create Flame Clouds! Or we'll all... be swept up!" Yamato yelled. "Take this!" Luffy yelled. "I haven't had enough fighting yet!" Kaido yelled.
I'm gonna skip kaido past cause I really fucking hate him so much.
"You'll be betrayed because you two are so weak. I'll form the strongest group in the world and turn this boring world into a world of violence. I'm the strongest!" Kaido yelled.
"The way you unified those samurai with the help of your crew was impressive. You're a star of hope that the cowards of the land of wano seized upon! They entrusted their future to you, but what's your goal? Straw Hat!" Said kaido
You and luffy try to push back kaido. "You two did great." Says kaido, then he blasted a fire ball at you two. Luffy is getting burned, and so are you!
"Well done fighting to this point! But..."
Luffy screamed in pain, and you screamed too (like mothra sound). "You can't change the world!" Kaido yelled, "luffy!" You scream.
Luffy smiles, "Of course, We're gonna win!" He yelled, making his hand bigger, and you making yourself much bigger! Onigashima began falling apart, "AAAAAHHHH!!" You and luffy scream.
"I don't know where they got it from," Kaido thought, and he remembered something.
'But Yamato mentioned joyboy and lunala name.' Said kaido.
'Oden wanted to open the borders to welcome lunala and joyboy... if he is the same guy you're waiting for, King, then I know exactly who joyboy, lunala is.' He said, King was surprised.
Luffy punch kaido really hard, that he almost so close to hit him. "Go luffy! (Y/N)!" Momonosake scream, "get the hell out of wano!" You yelled.
The onigashima is falling on the bottom. "Do not lose heart, Momonosake! They will win! Luffy (Y/N) will win! They will... surely defeat kaido! I can do it!" Said Momonosake. "That's the spirit! You'll save the people of the land of wano! Create them, Momonosake-kun!" Yamato yelled.
Momonosake tried to make the flame clouds, and he finally made it! "Come out, Flame Clouds! Heed my call!" Said Momonosake.
Then, a hole of full of water burst out inside the onigashima, Momonosake was surprised. "Hurry up! Onigashima's gonna fall at any minute! Please, luffy (Y/N)... finish this battle as soon as possible!" Said yamato.
"Don't give up! Fight until the very last minute!" Hyogoro yelled, "No, on in this world... can beat me!" Kaido yelled.
"What's this noise?" Kid asks, then a big rumble causing everybody to shake and almost losing their balance. "What is it this time?!" Nami ask.
"This doesn't look good!" Said Chooper, "Robin-san..." said brook, Robin is in the water not moving. Brook swims toward, "Don't give up, everyone! I'll make it reach you!" Said raizo.
"Bring the fire under control!" Jinbe yelled. Everyone is sucked into the water, and the fire is put out. "Save everyone!" Jinbe, raizo yell. And a huge wave burst out. Everyone was surprised and shocked, Law was surprised, too.
Nami, tama, and Chopper were scared, "Water," they scream. "Everyone's raining down!" Said tama, then Nami saw something, "look! Is that...".
"We'll make it back alive!" Usopp yelled. "-Usopp?! Kin'emon! Okiku-chan!" They yelled. The water wave towards Nami, tama, and Chopper, and they're pretty scared. "No!" They yelled.
More water came and made it to a flood. "I'm sorry, zoro... hey, don't get washed away, guys!" Said Franky. "Where did the water come from?!" Said sanji, the water started to push sanji away.
"Whoa! Whoa! Whoa!" He screams, "sanji-san!" Osama screams, "Osama-chan!".
The onigashima began to flood, "What is happening on onigashima?!" Momonosake question. Then the onigashima started to titled, "the Flame Clouds are disappearing! Too late! Onigashima's gonna fall!" Yamato scream.
You and luffy try your best, but you're too tired, but you can't give up now! "Momonosake-kun! We gotta stop onigashima! You wanna save the Flower Capital, right?!" Yamato question.
"I will stop it! I will not allow people to suffer anymore! Come out, Flame Clouds!" Momonosake scream, he use all his strength to make the flame clouds. A huge line of flame clouds hoops.
Yamato was amazed, "That's amazing! That's great, Momonosake-kun! Stop onigashima!" Yamato yelled, "Got it! Count on me!" He yelled. Momonosake grab the flames clouds hoops.
And Momonosake Flys toward to onigashima, "go!" Yamato scream. Momonosake warp around the onigashima and pulled as best he can.
"Violence will dominate the world! You two are gonna fall victim to it!" Said kaido, "shut up!" Luffy yelled. Then luffy punch kaido cheeks, and you use all your strength to push kaido back, too.
And a bright light show inside the onigashima. Kid and Law saw the bright light of kaido, "Straw Hat! Shape girl! If you lose, you'll pay for it!" Kid yelled. "Go, Straw Hat-ya! (Y/N)-ya!" Said Law.
"The strong will live, and the weak will die! I'm gonna bury you along with your friends! And your girlfriend will be my pet!" Kaido yells, those words made you and luffy pissed. "Shut up! You're not taking (Y/N) away from me!" Luffy yelled.
"Starting with the land of wano, I'll take over the world! What kind of world can you create?! Straw Hat!" Kaido yelled, luffy scream, Flys back.
"Luffy!" You yelled, then kaido hand grabs your body, and you scream in pain. "(Scream like mothra) Aaaaaaaaaaaa!!!" You scream, luffy watches kaido grabs you and started screaming. "(Y/N)!" Luffy screamed, "Do you see this! Straw Hat! This is what happens when you can't protect someone who you care about!" Kaido yelled.
Then, a huge bright light shoots out, and everyone watches the light. And tama, remember something.
'Tama! Don't set the bar too low! I'll make it your everyday life!' Said luffy, tama was amazed his words.
'By the time we leave this country, we'll make it a place where you can eat as much as you want! And I'll teach you how to dance!" You said.
"Big sis! Big bro!" Said tama, luffy Hand, became larger, kaido was shocked, "let (Y/N) go!" Luffy commend. You try to get free from kaido Hand, and you have an idea. You transform your human self.
And free from kaido hand. Kaido tried to grab you, but he was too distracted from luffy large fist. "Luffy!" You cried, luffy see you free. "(Y/N)!" He yelled.
And you transform to legendary form. This is your form:
Tumblr media
Luffy loves it so much, like he wants to hold you, but he can't. "Now! Menacing Moonraze Maelstrom!" You yelled, and six laser been shoots out in different eagle and started to hit kaido.
Now, kaido thinks he's about to lose.
"We want..."
"(Y/N)! Luffy!" Momonosake yelled, "Charge!" Kin'emon yelled, all the samurai held their sword up and screamed for victory.
"...to create..."
Kaido fire form is starting to disappear, turning him back to his blue dragon form.
"... to create the world..."
Then, kaido fire form blown away.
"...where our friends can eat..."
"As much as they want!" You both scream. And use all your power to defeat kaido, you laser, hits kaido body every each. Luffy fist hit kaido face.
Kaido was wide eye to see your ture powers, remembering his past and remembering oden face screaming his name.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!" You both stared screaming so hard, and kaido fell back, getting knocked out, falling down to the sky.
You and luffy sigh, catching your's breath, luffy smiles. You saw a bunch of sky boats with letters saying to defeat kaido, then luffy laughs.
'King.'
'I know exactly who joyboy and lunala are.'
'Who is it?'
'The ones who will defeat me!'
'Then I don't think they'll appear.'
Momonosake falls down, stressed out, and finally placed onigashima safely. And luffy began falling down, you transform back your human self.
And flys down to reach luffy, you grab him. Luffy body transforms back his original self, yamato runs towards you both. You landed carefully, placing luffy in your arms, and you kissed his lips.
You saw Yamato. "(Y/N)?!" She asks, you nodded your head, "Yep that's me, but you have to quiet, luffy is sleeping," you said. "So it's really you, in the bats form," said yamato.
And you felt something, you turnaround to see luffy holding you, warping around you. You smile and you transform back your original self.
"I think he doesn't want to let go," you said, laughing. "Well done, Momonosake." You said, "Yamato...".
Yamato, look at you. "Can you hold me pls, I going to take a nap..." You said about to close your eyes. "Don't die! (Y/N)!" Yamato screamed, shaking your body.
"I'm not gonna die! I just said I'm going to take a nap!" You yelled, "and while you hold me, I'll hold luffy cause he starts getting worried about me." You said. "Luffy really in love you." Said yamato, smiling, you smile back.
You pat luffy head.
THE END!!!!
I'M DONE!!!!

You don’t mind being saddled with looking after Luffy and Zoro—presenting no fight when Nami lists out the groups.
She gives you an apologetic grimace but you wave away her concerns; it’s easy to dismiss her worries when Luffy smiles at you, eyes closed, cheeks squishing as his lips stretch wide.
Your heart does a funny little flip flop, and you manage a grin back at him, trying to ignore the fluttering in your throat. You hold his gaze for another half second before you look away—cheeks dangerously warm. As you turn your head, you catch Zoro’s eye, flickering your attention to him when you see him watching you.
You try not to grimace, knowing how he gets when Sanji or Usopp—Hell, even some of the other captains you’ve met along the way—are a little too affectionate with Luffy for Zoro’s comfort. You back a step away from Luffy, refocusing on Nami as she organises the last of the crew.
She announces budgets and shopping lists before handing out pouches of Beli. When she gets to your team, she sighs softly. She spares a glance at the others, lips thinning into a straight line. She looks, for all intents and purposes, like she’s fighting a losing war in her mind. Nami passes the bag to you. “Don’t… let them buy things, okay?” she whispers.
With what you hope is a reassuring smile, you swipe the pouch. “You can trust me.”
She looks anything but reassured. “I don’t.”
You wink. “That’s the spirit!”
She blinks, glances at the others shouldering on their bags, preparing to depart. “This was a mistake,” she laments to herself. “Maybe I should reshuffle the groups.”
“No!”
Luffy’s yell carries over the ship.
You have a second to react, turning to him to see what’s going on before something firm collides into your body, warmth wounding tightly around your middle.
A breath escapes you and you’re tilting backwards, the unexpected weight shifting your centre of gravity.
A hand on your back steadies you, another on your arm to pull you back upright. You can feel the heat even through the shirt you’re wearing.
“Oi.” Zoro’s gruff voice comes from beside you, and it takes his intonation for you to realise that Luffy had been the one to crash onto you.
Luffy has his legs coiled around your waist, arm’s curled snake-like over and under yours.
Zoro admonishes him, letting go of your arm now that you’re standing upright again. He swats the back of his hand on Luffy’s arm. “Careful.”
“Keep the group!” Luffy implores Nami. “I like it like this.”
You pretend that that doesn’t fill you with a cloud of warmth. That it doesn’t feel like the sun is shining directly on you. You back up a step in an attempt to get away from the rising feelings in this conversation, but you belatedly realise you can’t; Luffy is on you, Zoro has a bracing hand against your back. You’re quite literally trapped here.
Nami throws a look around the small group before landing on you, something in her face that you can’t quite place. She grins, light of mischief dancing behind her eyes. “Okay,” she relents, in that tone you know means that there wasn’t that much of a fight to begin with. “I’ll keep the group.”
Luffy giggles, something light that bubbles out onto your shoulder and his limbs tighten around your body. The hand on your back gets heavier.
Uh oh.
Zoro’s getting angry.
He’s gonna take it out on you.
“Okay,” you say, keeping your voice purposefully light and devoid of the awkwardness you feel in this situation. “You’re getting heavy, Luffy.” You don’t give him a choice, shifting your weight to steady yourself before grabbing his thighs to pull him from you.
“I said, be careful.” Zoro digs his hand a little harsher, pushing you upright.
Luffy wriggles out of your grasp, climbing you like some sort of snake.
The change in weight unbalances you and you careen towards the deck, back first.
There’s yells, coming from you, Zoro and Luffy and you hit something firm, the air crushing out of you as you land.
“You fucking gremlin,” Zoro breathes, voice strained. It’s only because his chest is reverberating against your upper back do you realise that you’ve fallen on him.
Oh.
Oh, shit.
You try to get off him, but Luffy is resting his weight atop you.
He’s laughing, like it really doesn’t concern him at all that he’s still clinging onto you, half fallen into your lap while you’re on top of his boyfriend.
“Okay.”
You crane your neck to look up at Nami, who’d been the one to speak.
She blinks down on the three of you, looking very much like she’s trying to hide a smile. “You guys…” She chuckles. “Do your thing, I’m gonna.” Not even bothering to finish her sentence, she turns, walking away to the group that she’s organised for herself.
“Hey.” Zoro places a gentle hand on your side to grab your attention and you whip your head to face him at the touch. “You okay?”
Your heart stutters in your chest; his hand is resting on the side of your ribcage. His gaze, always magnetising and heavy, feels even more so with his face literal inches from yours. Your mouth is drying, your throat sticks to itself.
Has he always been this pretty? Handsome, yes, that is a relatively objective fact about him. But pretty? It’s his eye that draws you in; a cool shade of grey that has, at times, looked silver under different lighting. He blinks down at you, lips parting, probably to speak again.
But you’re staring at his mouth, heart roaring deafeningly in your head so you don’t really hear what he has to say, if anything. You don’t remember moving, but your face is getting closer to his. Close enough that you can feel his breath on your cheek, and—
Nope.
You pull away, heat rising up from your chest, flushing across your neck. What the fuck?
(So caught up in your own thoughts, you miss how Zoro’s hand falls away, fingers curling into a loose fist by his knee. You miss how he shoots a quick glance at Luffy, both their faces pinching in disappointment. And, most importantly, you miss that you weren’t the one moving at all—Zoro had leant into your space.)
Okay.
You’re crushing on your two best friends, who are in a relationship with each other. Big whoop, that’s not news to you. You’re usually much more inconspicuous than this—fucking relax.
Your heart drops into your stomach when you realise that Luffy is staring at the two of you, expression unreadable.
“We should get going,” you throw out into the air. “Before the shops close.”
Zoro hums, a short noise that you can’t quite read.
“You didn’t answer his question,” Luffy says. He leans forward, a little pout on his lips.
You back away, jerking lightly when you bump into Zoro’s shoulder. You find some weird middle ground, holding yourself awkwardly so you’re equally distant from them both. “What?”
“We fell,” Luffy reiterates. “Zoro asked if you were okay.”
“Um.” You take stock of yourself; yes, you’ve been jarred around slightly, but, all things considered, you’re surprisingly unharmed.  If you forget about the tightness in your chest, and your heart hammering away, the only thing of note is that Luffy is a pressing weight on you, but that can be easily fixed. “I’m fine.”
“You’re lying,” Luffy says, blunt.
“What?”
He blinks at you, expectant.
“He means, you don’t seem fine,” Zoro pipes up from behind.
Shit.
Fuck that Captain’s Intuition.
“Uh.” You swallow a wave of panic. “I wasn’t hurt in the fall,” you try instead.
Luffy stares at you for a second longer before nodding, satisfied. He climbs off you, arms already stretching to grab onto the ship’s bannister and slingshot him onto the island, smile splitting his cheeks, a yell of adventure on his lips
“I…” You sigh, defeated. “We were supposed to stick as a group.”
“We’ll catch up,” Zoro muses. He’s already stood up and he reaches down, offering you a hand. “C’mon.”
You take it, gingerly, trying not to think too much about his hand in yours. It’s normal, you tell yourself. People help each other off the floor all the time. Don’t think too much about it. “Yeah,” you say, because talking always made it easier to keep your mind off of things. “but Nami probably put me with you two to keep you both on a leash.”
Zoro smirks as he pulls you up. “You think you can tame me?” he asks, voice dangerously low. His grip on your hand tightens and your heart squeezes with it.
You think you forget how to breathe, frozen in a stupor.
When you don’t react, Zoro releases your fingers, turning around so you don’t see the grin fighting its way on his face. “Let’s go,” he says as he begins walking.
You blink after him, once.
Twice.
The fluttering in your chest settles onto your sternum. Wait, hang on. “You don’t know where you’re going!” That thought sobers you up enough to bound over to him. “Maybe it’s better if I lead.”
Zoro furrows his brows as he shoots you a glance out of his periphery. “What do you mean?”
“It’s just…” You’re trying to find a way to phrase your words without offending him. “You—Where do you think the market is?” you try instead.
He shrugs, shoulders hunching up to his neck. “Doesn’t really matter, does it?”
“Meaning?”
“We find Luffy,” he says. “He always gets us where we need to be.”
Your steps falter, watching Zoro as he continues walking across the deck like what he said wasn’t out of the norm for him.
Roronoa Zoro—a sap?
Honestly?
Kinda cute.
No sooner does the thought enter your mind do you dismiss it quickly. Stop that, stop it.
Tumblr media
It’s supposed to be an uneventful supply run.
In-and-out. Quick. Efficient.
That was the plan. Or, at least, Nami’s plan.
You should have known that none of those words would be in Luffy’s or Zoro’s vocabulary.
And Nami should’ve known it wouldn’t be in yours either. Honestly, what was she thinking, putting you with them? There’s no way you would’ve babysat them. At times, it feels like you enabled them, more so than anything, but—
You know what, actually?
No, no.
You aren’t taking the blame today. And you’re not blaming Luffy or Zoro either. None of this was any of your faults.
Because who, in their right minds, would have predicted that this small island would have a Marine Festival?
“What the fuck’s a Marine Festival?” Nami hisses, through the Baby Den Den Mushi.
“Exactly!” You force your voice into a whisper, glancing to your right, outside the edge of the wall.
No one is looking.
“A shit ton of Marines are marching through town,” you inform her, “and we’re, kinda, maybe stuck in an alley.” The way the houses are laid out means the gap between the buildings progressively grows smaller the further in you go. And at the sole entrance of the alley, are all the Marines on the island, apparently. Slowly walking like some parade.
Music, cheers, and confetti, included.
Nami sighs, exasperation lacing the breath of air. You can see the exhaustion lining her brows on the transponder snail. “At least—Please tell me you’re still with Luffy and Zoro, though?”
“Yeah.” Unfortunately.
In your initial panic after seeing the Marines, you’d pulled Zoro into the closest hiding place. You then grabbed Luffy and yanked him in with you.
Zoro had shuffled into the space, until he could barely wedge himself further, shoulders too wide to go any deeper. Which is good, you tell yourself, because the only way out is the only way in, and you’re standing right there.
And you’ve kept Luffy directly in front of you, giving you the opportunity to stop him before he runs out into the town—or worse; go deeper into the alley because his bodily rubber properties would allow him to.
God forbid either of them be left unchecked with Marines.
In your, more hopeful, infancy of ten minutes ago, you’d waited for the Marines to scatter. But they kept marching, and marching, and, so, you called Nami to tell her the news.
“I just—Why can’t we chaos our way out of here?” you lament; the prospect of being stuck in the cramped passage for any longer than you already have doesn’t sit well with you.
Luffy perks up, eyes illuminating with a gleam that you can see, even with the dim lighting. Zoro leans in closer, arm flush with yours.
You pretend not to notice and focus all your attention on the Den Den Mushi in your palm.
“Because we need to wait for the Log Pose to calibrate.”
Your lips press into a thin line, unimpressed. “How long’s that gonna take?”
“Hours—”
You roll your eyes, displeasure roving through your features.
“Don’t roll your eyes at me—”
Oh, shit.
She can see your expressions, too.
“Wait—no, no-no,” you clamour to your own defence. “I wasn’t rolling my eyes at you, it was at the situation.”
The snail is silent, looking very indifferent.
“Nami,” you whine, “I promise.”
“Uh-huh,” she finally says, sceptical.
“Nami—”
“Just lay low until the Log Pose resets, okay?”
“Okay,” you say, and then to make up for the eye-roll, you add, “Love you.”
Without missing a beat, Nami responds, “That’s fifty Beli for loving me.”
You splutter. “Hello?”
She hums. “If you can’t afford to pay, you can’t afford to love me.”
“Yeah, alright.” You chuckle, grinning at her antics. “You ain’t worth it, anyways.”
Nami yells—the beginning of her tirade spilling through the Baby Den Den Mushi.
You jump, hand over the snail’s mouth to muffle it before you hang up on her. “What the Hell,” you breathe, turning your attention to the entrance of the alleyway.
The Marines keep marching.
“Scale of one to ten,” you say, lightly, “how badly do you think she’ll beat my ass when we get back?”
Luffy makes a sound like he’s thinking. “Four.”
“Just four?” Surely it’d be higher than that—it’s Nami.
“She’ll try on a seven,” Luffy elaborates, “but you’re strong, so four.”
You blink at him, a blush beginning to creep up your neck that you hope they don’t see. “You think I’m strong?”
Luffy beams, cheeks stretching. “Yep!”
Oh. You look away, breath stuttering in your chest. Your fingers twitch as you try to find something to do so you’re not forced to stare at him. Belatedly, you realise you’re still holding the communication device. You try to open your bag, but your left arm bumps into Zoro where he’s still leaning against you.
He’d been so quiet, presence strangely comfortable and safe, that you’d forgotten to register he was there.
“Uh.” You turn to face him, but he seems unfazed by your accidental touch. “Sorry,” you mumble.
He dismisses your apology with a grunt.
When he doesn’t offer anything else, you clear your throat. “Can you possibly move back a bit? I need to get to my bag.”
“Can’t,” Zoro says. “‘S too narrow.”
“Ah. Well—”
“Here.” He takes the snail from your hand, hand brushing against your own fingers and you try not to let your breathing change too much. He attempts to undo the clasp on your bag with one hand, but he struggles. “Luffy,” he finally says after giving up.
Without hesitance, Luffy leans over and fiddles with it. His knuckles scrape against the fabric of your shirt as he works.
Your heart flutters into your throat until all you hear is your own heartbeat thudding away in your ears. You hold your breath, afraid that if you did try to breathe, your lungs would stutter and you’d give yourself away.
Luffy holds the flap against your waist and Zoro places the Den Den Mushi inside.
You stare at the bag, watching their hands move so you don’t have to look at their faces and fluster yourself even more.
Once inside, Luffy releases the flap so it falls back into place and Zoro buckles up the clasp again. Neither of them move back to their original position, crowding into your space even though they have no reason to be.
Or, maybe, they’re just trying to get closer to each other.
That would make more sense.
You should move out of their way.
You slide over to the right, closer towards the exit but your shoe trips over something.
Luffy yelps.
You flail for balance.
Luffy steadies himself on the wall next to you, and you fall on his outstretched arm instead of the floor, and Zoro grabs you both by the elbow.
“The Hell are you two doing?” he barks, tugging lightly to pull you upright before letting go. He sinks his back on the roughened bricks.
“Sorry—I’m sorry!” Judging by Luffy’s earlier exclamation, you realised you kicked his foot.
“What were you up to?” Luffy asks, head tilting in puzzlement. He doesn’t remove his arm from beside you and if you were to sidestep to get further away from his limb, you’d only be crowding into Zoro’s space.
“I was trying to get out of your way,” you answer honestly, “let you two be closer, or something.”
Luffy’s lip downturns. “You don’t want to be closer?”
You blink. Then, “Bit weird, is all.” You’re trying not to read too much into his words; take him at face value, don’t assume his intentions.
“What’s weird about you being closer?” Luffy leans forward—trying to prove his point, or out of interest, you’re not sure.
Regardless, you inch away, back of hitting the wall. Your shoulders brush against Zoro’s. You spare a glance at him, but he only watches, face impassive. You let out a small breath, once again cursing the small enclosement you’re trapped in. “I don’t—This is—” Your voice is getting smaller and smaller.
“Relax,” Zoro says.
“I am relaxed,” you fire back.
He makes a sceptical noise.
With how close he is to you, it wouldn’t take that much effort to elbow him in the ribs, so you take advantage of that and do so, earning a grunt. “Fuck off.”
As you settle back against the wall, you realise; you’re calmer. Less nervous than you had been before.
Son of a bitch.
You’re barely able to hide the smile that rises to your lips; somehow, Zoro grew to know you. But he’s right—if you’re going to be stuck here for the next hour or so, you shouldn’t be so tense about it. “You guys don’t have claustrophobia, do you?” you inquire, suddenly realising that this wouldn’t be an ideal situation if they did.
“What’s claustrophobia?” Luffy’s nose scrunches in confusion.
Zoro shuffles, like he’s shrugging. “Afraid of Santa Claus.”
A laugh startles out of you at the answer and you cover your mouth to muffle yourself.
“Oh,” Luffy says, sincere. “No.”
You shake your head. “That’s not what it means,” you manage to say in between giggles.
“What do you mean?” Zoro presses, the same time Luffy asks, “What’s so funny?”
“Wait.” Newfound chuckles linger in your throat and you turn your head to face Zoro. “Is that—Do you really think that’s what that means?”
Zoro blinks at you, lips pressing into a thin line. “Well—I don’t anymore.”
“No-no,” you beg, grabbing his arm. “I’m not making fun of you.”
“Ya-huh.” Zoro is doubtful, and you don’t blame him because you’re still laughing. “Can definitely feel you’re not.”
“Zoro—”
“What does it mean, then?” Luffy implores, leaning into your space.
You smile at him, quick huff of breath escaping your nostrils. “Afraid of small spaces.”
“Ah.” Luffy nods. “So, Zoro was stupid.”
“Shut up!” Zoro hisses, leaning across you to smack Luffy’s arm.
You can’t help but laugh at their antics, chest tightening as your breath sticks in your chest because you’re not taking in enough air. You try to be quiet about it, not wanting to alert the Marines.
“You didn’t even know what it meant,” Zoro snaps.
“But I didn’t get it wrong!” Luffy fires back. “Hey.” He batters your arm to get your attention. “Zoro’s stupid, right?”
“Oi!”
You try to stifle your laughs, but to no avail. You shake your head, making a cutthroat motion with your hand to let them know you can’t be a part of this conversation.
It takes another couple minutes for you to collect yourself, especially when Zoro and Luffy start to silently wrestle with each other, doing more harm to themselves when they crash their own elbows and knees into the walls instead of each other.
“I have another question,” Luffy pipes when you’re taking a final, big breath.
“Uh-huh?” you croak, wiping the tears from your eyes.
“Who’s Santa Claus?”
Tumblr media
As it turns out, the Log Pose needed three hours before it recalibrated to the next island. When Nami’s call comes through, you can’t rush out of the alley quick enough. The restlessness of being trapped for so long resulted in absolute chaos as soon as the three of you were spotted by the Marines.
It’s not like you guys were trying to be found.
But…
It’s not like you were trying to be subtle about your presence, either.
Needless to say, the number of injured Marines who were there before you arrived, compared to the number after was… drastically different.
You’re stretching out in the sun, enjoying the warm rays you’re able to catch, now that you aren’t in a dark alley filled with cold bricks. After telling Sanji you hadn’t had breakfast, and then later weren’t able to buy anything during lunch ‘for the sake of the crew,’ he’d whipped up something quick and somewhat light, so you’d still have room for dinner in a couple hours. You’d finish the last bite ages ago, but the sun feels too nice to leave, so your empty plate sits on the table.
A shadow falls over you and you open your eyes, brows raising as Zoro rattles a plate onto the table. He pushes the first plate to the side before placing another next to it.
Luffy comes bounding over with empty bowls and spoons.
“You guys hungry too?” you yawn.
Zoro huffs in amusement. “When isn’t he?”
You chuckle. Then, after noticing how they’re more relatively cleaned up than usual, you pry, “Is this something special?”
“A date,” Zoro says, blunt.
“Ah.” You know a dismissal when you hear one. You stand, taking your plate to clear up more space for them. “Alright, I’ll get out of your way.”
In the distance, you hear a squeal before it’s muffled and a small crash. You turn to look at the level above, where you’re sure you heard the noise, but you don’t see anyone or anything there. You narrow your eyes, turning back to Zoro and Luffy. “Uh, have fun,” you say, departing for the kitchen.
(Zoro and Luffy watch you leave, eyes tracking as the door closes behind you. Luffy pouts, gaze forlornly drifting to the three bowls stacked on each other. Zoro groans, tilting his head back to the sky.
“How can someone be so stupid?” he muses.
Usopp tears Nami’s hand from his mouth and they jump out from their hiding spots, vaulting over the railing to join their Captain and first mate on the lower deck.
“What was that?” Nami hisses.
“Hey, keep it down,” Zoro grouses.
“What did you guys say?” Usopp accuses.
“Nothing!” Luffy protests. “Zoro said it was a date, and then—” He gestures towards the kitchen where you’ve disappeared into.
Nami stares at the both of them, their brows furrowing as they sit in their misery; Zoro on the beach chair you’d just vacated, and Luffy on the ground. Patient as a saint, she pulls in a deep breath. “Did you say it was a three person date?”
Zoro sits up, as Luffy turns to look at him.
A beat.
Then.
“No,” they both answer.
Usopp growls something that sounds more like squeal. “Are you—?”
“Keep it down!” Zoro hisses, pulling the sniper to the ground before his voice can escalate any louder.
Usopp lands with a grunt, effectively silenced. “Why are you both so stupid?” he bemoans.
“It was Zoro!” Luffy defends himself.
“Oi!” Zoro kicks at Luffy’s leg.
“Lord have mercy,” Nami sighs.)
Sanji looks up, wide eyes blinking owlishly when he sees you. “Uh…” He pauses in cutting the onion. “Why are you here?”
You throw a thumb over your shoulder, back out to the deck. “Zoro and Luffy are having a date.”
“Uh-huh?” he responds slowly.
“They set up at my table—I mean, I don’t know why ‘cos there’s like, two other tables out there, but, y’know.” You shrug, trying to be nonchalant, but you’re too annoyed; they didn’t have to kick you out so rudely.
It hurts a little, you have to admit to yourself. Especially after hanging out with them in the alley. It wasn’t an ideal situation, but it wasn’t the worst, either. You had fun together, or so you thought.
“Wait, so what’d they say?” Sanji asks. “Exactly?”
You furrow your brows, heading to the sink to wash your plate. “That it was a date.”
“And that was it?”
“Yeah.” You rinse the soap off and place it on the dish rack.
“And they didn’t ask you anything.”
“Uh.” You wipe your hands on a towel, heading back to the counter. “No. What would they ask?”
Sanji looks about this close to bursting out in laughter.
“What?” you implore, thrown off by his expression.
He shakes his head, bowing his head to resume the prep work for dinner. “Nothing,” he sings, mirth underlying his tone. “What a bunch of priceless idiots.”
“What does that mean?”
“Nothing,” he repeats.
“Sanji—”
“You gonna stay to help?” He tries to redirect your attention, easily grabbing a knife from the wooden block set and placing it on the counter, handle to you.
You huff. “Not if you’re hiding stuff from me.”
“I’m not hiding—” At your pointed look, he shrugs. “Okay, maybe, yeah,” he relents. “But, trust me,” he says beseechingly, “this isn’t something you want to hear from me.”
“You know you're leaving me with more questions, right?”
He scrapes the minced onions into a mixing bowl. “I don’t think I should say anything.”
The door opens at the end of his sentence and you peek over your shoulder, fully swivelling around in your chair when you see that it’s Luffy and Zoro. They enter the kitchen, letting the door shut behind them.
It’s silent.
“What’s wrong?” you ask, trying to sound casual.
“We weren’t clear,” Luffy says.
“Uh.” You look between the two of them, trying to figure out what conversation just got dropped into your lap. “About what?”
“Not in here,” Sanji begrudges.
“Shut it, Cook,” Zoro snaps.
“You are running out of favours, mosshead.”
“You can shove your—”
“Zoro!” Luffy whacks his arm into Zoro’s stomach.
Zoro actually looks ashamed, clenching his teeth together.
Sanji sighs. “Fine.” He takes off his apron and drapes it over a chair as he passes by. “Don’t touch anything,” he warns.
Zoro and Luffy turn to watch him leave, waiting until the door swings shut before rounding back to you.
“I don’t understand what’s happening.” You decide to speak up first, laying out your level of awareness.
“The date was supposed to be with you,” Luffy says.
You blink. “What?”
“The date—outside; you’re supposed to be there too.”
“Why?”
“Because we want you there,” Zoro states.
“And you want to be there, too,” Luffy adds.
You purse your lips. “I don’t want to third wheel—plus!” you yell when they open their mouths to interrupt you. “Dates don’t really include friends.”
“Not as a friend.” Luffy steps forward, stands in front of the chair you’re sitting on.
“What?” you ask, voice weak.
Luffy holds onto the chair on both sides of you, caging you against the counter and him. “Not as a friend,” he repeats. “We want you there on the date—as a date.”
You forget how to breathe, chest flooding with a tightness that almost hurts with every heartbeat. It’s fast, your heart thud, thudding away in your ears.
They want to date you.
They want to date you, too.
You’re not alone in your feelings for them.
‘We want you there,’ Zoro had said. ‘And you want to be there, too,’ Luffy had claimed.
He knew.
He knew.
Luffy says something, mouth opening in silent syllables that you don’t hear above your own thoughts.
You should probably answer him, ask him to repeat. But you lean forward, clutching his vest in your fist to pull him in and meet you halfway in a kiss.
Luffy groans into your mouth, wrapping his arms around your waist as he kisses back, searing and desperate and filled with so much affection that your heart bubbles away under your tongue. He’s almost leaning you back onto the counter with how much he’s pushing himself onto you.
When you part, he pulls you back upright onto the seat, breathing heavily. He laughs, pecks your lips again.
You smile in return at his joy.
You kissed him. You kissed Luffy, and he kissed you back.
Luffy looks over to the door and you follow suit.
Zoro is still standing at the entrance, watching.
You swallow thickly, disappointment swirling in your gut because you don’t know what he’s feeling or thinking, but if it was something positive, he’d be more reactive, right? You pull your hands away from Luffy, clasping them in your lap. “You’re okay with this?” you ask him, voice quiet.
“I’m okay with it.” You can’t really pierce through his tone to know what he’s thinking.
“What about us?” you inquire. Zoro had become one of your best friends, and like Luffy, you’d developed a crush on him too. You’d hate for your new relationship with Luffy to erode your previous friendship with Zoro because he got jealous.
“What about us?”
If there was ever a time to define a relationship, it would be now, right? “Do we…” You clear your throat, shaking away the nerves.
Luffy slides a hand into yours, and, somehow, that gives you the courage you need.
“Do we get to kiss, too?” you question, hesitant.
Zoro tilts his head to the side. “Is that what you want?”
“Is that what you want?” you parrot back.
Zoro smirks. In seconds, he crosses the distance, hand cupping the side of your cheek.
Your heart flails wildly in your throat.
“Yes,” he whispers, and he brings your lips to his. He kisses you just as hungrily and passionately as Luffy did, thumb sliding across your jaw.
Your heart jumps into your throat and you gasp in a breath, only for him to dig deeper, tongue flicking against yours. You moan, a quiet noise that he swallows into his chest.
Warm lips attach to your neck and you almost choke, squeal of surprise sticking in your throat.
Zoro chuckles into your mouth, humming as he breaks away from you, kissing softly behind your jaw.
You’re panting softly, eyes rolling back as Luffy sucks on your skin. Your head feels cloudy, chest so full and light at the same time, heart beating so loudly you’re not sure how it hasn’t exploded out of your ribcage.
This is real.
This is happening.
“So, about that date,” you breathe, slotting your hand under Luffy’s jaw and lifting him off your neck.
“Fuck the date,” Zoro growls into your ear. He nips your earlobe.
You barely have time to react to that before someone slides their hand on your thigh, boldly going up higher and higher until their fingers rest just below your crotch. You groan, inhaling a quick breath.
Luffy grins at your reaction and you know it’s his hand. “Why don’t we get out of here?” he suggests. “And make you make more noises?”
Oh, shit. Eyes widening, you nod vigorously. “Yep, yeah.”
They pull away, Luffy sliding you off the chair before you all exit the kitchen together.
The cool air of the evening breeze washes over your hot skin. Usopp, Nami and Sanji are lounging around the now-deemed ‘date’ table and they look over when the door opens.
“Up there,” Zoro says, nodding his head to the crow’s nest.
Luffy pulls you along with him with such urgency that Usopp straightens his back.
“What’s going on?” he asks.
Luffy doesn’t respond, already climbing the ladder.
“Uh,” you start, stumbling after him.
“Don’t interrupt us,” Zoro suggests. “We wanna be left alone.”
“Oh,” Usopp says. Then, “No! I didn’t need to know that!”
“You asked, dummy.” Zoro waits for you to get higher on the ladder before he starts to ascend.
“Because I didn’t know!” Usopp wails.
Luffy has already reached the landing. Rather than wait for you to complete the climb, he stretches down and wraps an arm around you, pulling you off the ladder.
You yelp, flailing as he pulls you up. “Luffy!”
“Also,” Zoro continues, “you might not want to be near here; we’re probably gonna be loud.”
“Shut up!” Usopp screams, cheeks reddening.

ykw strawhats monster high au bc im whimsical except i couldnt find many creatures that matched them so a lot of them are demi gods
luffy - son of meri - this one is kind of obvious, luffys brazilian and meri is considered the sun god to the bororò people, an indigenous ethnicity in brazil. nika is based on a lot of different cultures. the one piece wiki has some guesses in its trivia section as to what inspired nika u should def check it out,
zoro - son of enma - another obvious one since one of his swords is named enma.. enma is the king of buddhist hell.. idk if its true but ive seen a few people associate enma with the moon so theres some more sun/moon symbolism for you
nami - the daughter of apsaras - according to the wiki "apsaras or apsara is a member of a class of celestial beings in Hindu and Buddhist culture. They are originally a type of female spirit of the clouds and waters, who later plays the role of a 'nymph' or 'fairy'." and that just feels very nami
usopp - son of the tikoloshe - the tikoloshe are mischievous water spirits in south african mythology, if you cant tell im trying to have the characters of color be the kids of myths from their own culture and usopp is just a mischievous little lad
chopper - son of airmids - the celtic goddess of healing herbs!
robin - daughter of saraswati - the indian goddess of knowledge, she also has six arms and since robin can grow those it made sense to me
franky - son of hephaestus - the greek god of black smithing and craftsmanship, just made sense to me
brook - son of ihy - the egyptian god of music!
jinbe - son of the varuna - the indian god of the water, he is the lord of justice and truth, and the way jinbe vouches for fishman everywhere reminded me of that so

In Greek mythology are mostly god-favoured heroes and beasts who received a place amongst the stars as a memorial of their deeds. They were regarded as semi-divine spirits--living, conscious entities which strode across the heavens.
So what if that’s what they are in your god au?
Wrote this whole post but Tumblr said no and deleted it so here we go again this is a long one!
I'm assuming u mean either immortal pets or demigod champions so I'm doing both
Luffy: His demigod is Law, but everyone just thinks Law is the full god of death, few suspecting Chopper handles dead souls and reincarnating them because he's god of creatures. Luffy has a pet immortal lion named Sunny that makes sure there's still day and night cycles in winter when Luffy's sleeping on her back.
Zoro: Zoro has no pets, he had a demigod. Kuina challenged him every day for four years (8-12) before he gave her demigod-hood. She was murdered the next day by her village because they wanted her power. They didn't get it.
Nami: Nami has Zeus, which she made out of a cloud, and hinted at making Vivi a demigod. Vivi essentially said Nami needs to put a ring on it before she puts the burden of eternity on it.
Usopp: Usopp had a pet spider, Doffy, which didn't go well at all. He also told everyone he has a demigod champion named Sogeking, but no one knows who Sogeking is under the mask (except Robin but Robin knows everything)
Sanji: Has an immortal pet rat named Mellorine that can cook and bites men. He also has some demigods that were failed evil clones of him that he taught to cook and pull nutrients from the earth. Reiju, Ichiji, Niji and Yonji are good guys, and when they're not Sanji puts them in grapevine prison timeout
Chopper: Every creature is his pet, and he has no demigods but roots for Sogeking whenever possible and he apprenticed Law for a little while
Robin: all the people of O'Hara have a piece of her, and she has a skinchanger that usually takes the shape of a fox made of flowers named Hana, that snoops on people and turns into a creature made of human hands when they're hostile
Franky: He has a giant toad that can do the backstroke and helps engineering students on exam week. His demigod is his brother Iceberg, who has been mayor of water 7 for 950 years so far.
Brook: Laboon is his precious immortal baby!!!
Jimbe: Jimbe had a demigod - Fishtiger - but Fishtiger sacrificed himself for the life of a single human child. Now Koala is a demigod but doesn't know, and she fights for fishman rights having no idea she's being backed by the god of the ocean himself.

to be a captain is to be brave, to care, to love
Congrats--I’m the dumbass who posts fic for the wrong Straw Hat on another crewmate’s birthday lolol
9320 words; this hit me hard recently because, well, it just did (as in: I wrote most of this within the past few days); I have complicated emotions about Deadbeat Dad Yasopp and I guess this is my brain working through it; this does not take place in a continuity that contains Uta, mainly because I don’t really want to write her being a bratty little bully bc you know that’s what would happen; not an entire rewrite but does shift things a little bit to the left
to be a captain is to be brave, to care, to love; something very different happened on the day Banchina passed away: her son told the truth. [Usopp-centric slight AU]
-_-_-_-_-_-_-
She is dying.
That was the only thing that the doctor wrote on the paper before stuffing it in an envelope and sending it with a News Coo. That had been the week prior, and now it seemed as though the message was going to be for naught. He was sitting at the sick woman’s bedside, changing the compress on her forehead for a cool, fresh one.
“Where is Usopp?” she asked. The doctor shook his head.
“He ran off soon as I got here,” he replied, tone hiding the fact he’d told her twice already. “He’ll be back.”
“He’s such a silly boy.” She tilted her head and looked out the window at the clouds, bright and fluffy. “He has his father’s spirit.”
“Banchina…”
“No, he does; he’s going to become a wonderful person.”
The doctor sighed heavily. “I wrote to him.”
“Why…?” Her attention went back to the doctor, her eyes now sharp, all of her strength put behind them. “He was not supposed to know.”
“It doesn’t matter; he hasn’t come.”
“So you’d rather ignore the wishes of someone on their deathbed than let a free man enjoy the last moments he has at peace?” There was fire and venom in her voice, not heard by the doctor since they were young children. “It’s bad enough Usopp has had to watch me…”
“He deserves to know.”
“He deserves to be free.”
“He’s your husband; he should be here.”
“So you can torture him more?!”
“That’s not what this is and we both know it! It’s…!”
“Mom! Mom! Mom!” Usopp shouted from outside. Banchina gave one last glare before softening her face, not wanting a scowl to be how her son remembered her. “Pirates are coming! Pirates are coming up the slope!” The boy burst into the house and barreled towards his mother, tears streaming down his face. “Pirates are coming! That means that Dad’s back!”
“Usopp, sweetie, I need you to listen to me,” she said. “You’re going to have to be a good kid for me, alright? Make sure you grow into a good man, a good person, and never let them look down on you. Do you understand?”
“…but Mom…”
“I know your dad’s not there—please, don’t hate him for that. He’s very far away and can’t come back safely. It was my choice to stay here with you, and I’d do it over and over again…”
“Banchina, please…”
“I am talking to my son.” The doctor stepped towards the other side of the room at that, keeping his distance. “Please, Usopp, promise me you’re going to be brave, alright?”
“Mom…” Usopp’s tiny frame shook as he tried not to cry. “Just a little bit! Please!”
“I know what you’re doing, darling; don’t make this harder than it has to be.”
“…’China…?”
Banchina froze as her eyes went towards the door, seeing Yasopp standing in the threshold, body frozen in shock. All at once he stumbled into the house, nearly tripping over himself as he went to sit on the edge of the mattress at his wife’s side. Tears began to escape his eyes as he brought her limp, cold hand in both of his.
“I told them not to tell you,” she said, looking away in pain. “I didn’t want your last memory of me to be like this.”
“No, I’m glad I could come… I’ll take seeing you one last time while sick than never see you again at all.” His voice cracked and squeaked in pain—this was never what he had planned on when he left those years ago. “I’m so sorry… you were the only one who made this place worth it for so long…”
Banchina simply hushed him and offered the strongest smile she could. Yasopp bent down and pressed their foreheads together before kissing her gently. A sob escaped him as he pulled away, confirming to the little boy in the corner precisely what he had feared.
Banchina of Syrup Village was no more.
-_-_-_-_-_-_-
“So, how old are you, lad?”
“Uh… six…?”
“Oh… well, that’s a fucking bummer.”
Usopp stared at the red-haired man sitting at the table in the town’s only restaurant, who was currently involved in taking a large swig of beer. He didn’t want to be around his house at the moment, since his father and the village doctor were currently having a shouting match. The boy escaped the row by heading into town, where he saw the rest of the pirates his dad had come in with.
This one was apparently the captain.
“Everyone in town says that you’re the one that stole Dad from Mom and me,” Usopp said. The captain shrugged noncommittally—couldn’t refute that.
“What did your mom always say?”
“She said that ‘Dad left following his dream, the sea, his freedom’.”
“Then I think you should listen to your mom, kid.” The man adjusted the straw hat perched atop his head and took another drink. “You know, soon as your dad got news about your mom, we came straight here. I wouldn’t keep him from what he needs for anything.”
“Why’s that?”
“It’s my obligation, as the captain.” He paused as the waitress returned with food for the table, which he encouraged Usopp to sit and eat. “See, when you’re a captain, you need to figure out what it is that people need and how that’s different from what they want, and make it happen. Your dad always wants to travel the seas and very often needs to, but right now, what he needs is to be here.”
“You have a big crew—did they need to be here too?”
“No, but they wanted to come along, to support your dad, and it wasn’t anything that put a damper on their needs, so we all came along.” He watched as the boy’s face scrunched in thought. “It’s a lot to think about, I know. Don’t worry—you’re just a kid. You got time to figure it out.”
“What we don’t have time for is figuring out how this pit stop is going to impact our making it to the Grand Line without attracting too much attention,” said a tall, severe-faced man with dark hair. He took the smoldering cigarette from his lips and stubbed it out before beginning to eat. “We had a route, a plan, and none of it involved Yasopp’s hometown.”
“You can’t be so serious, Beck,” the captain chuckled. “We were planning on docking someplace for about a year anyhow… why not make it here?”
“…because I remember part of why it was so easy for him to leave to begin with.” He looked at the child currently nibbling on a fried chicken tender and sighed. “He really should have come here on his own and met up with us at the rendezvous point.”
“…and become a widow by himself…?”
“Minimize the impact on the locals—you know that.”
“Fuck…” It was then that Yasopp barged in the front door, looking fresh from a fight with a split lip and an impressive shiner. He found where his son was and blanched, going to his side immediately.
“You know better than to wander off on your own,” Yasopp gently chided. He removed the child from his seat and sat down, keeping his son in his lap. “We’re leaving soon as the captain is able to, okay?”
“Leaving…?” Usopp almost dropped the rest of his chicken tender. “Why…?”
“There are bad memories here,” Yasopp replied gravely. “I’m not going to make more by staying.”
“We can leave by nightfall,” the captain shrugged. He looked at the kid and raised his eyebrow. “Are you sure this is a good idea…?”
“If you grew up on a pirate ship, then I see no problem.” Yasopp picked up one of the neglected glasses of ice water and pressed the side against his black eye. “I’ll make sure to grab some things before we leave…”
“I’ll meet you at the house then, bye!” Usopp said. He wriggled out of his father’s grasp and ran out the door before any of the crew could snag him. Yasopp started to go after him, but was stopped by the captain.
“No,” the red-haired man said firmly. “He just learned he’s leaving. Let him make his peace with this place. Just because you never could doesn’t mean he can’t.”
Yasopp grumbled as he concentrated on the glass of water to his eye and grabbing a beer to occupy his other hand—captain’s orders sure were a bitch sometimes.
-_-_-_-_-_-_-
Usopp ran as fast as his tiny legs could take him. He ran through Syrup Village, dodging other residents, until he found a hole in a stone wall just big enough for him to shimmy through. On the other side was the expansive grounds of a mansion, which he rushed up to in order to knock on a very specific window. The little girl inside jumped in fright before running to open the pane.
“I’m leaving,” was all Usopp could get out, gasping for breath. The girl stared at him.
“What do you mean…?”
“My dad came… I’m leaving… today…”
“He what?! No way?!”
“Kaya, I’m scared!” The little boy began to shake terribly. “Dad came back, Mom died, and now we’re leaving and I don’t know when I’ll be here again!”
“…but why tell me…?”
“...because you’re the only one who’s nice to me!” He couldn’t bear to look at his friend, so instead he glared at a bit of wall as he cried. “I’ll come back to visit someday… I promise!”
“You gotta shake on it!” Kaya insisted. She stuck her hand out the window and waited for Usopp to take it, making direct eye contact. “You’re always talking about becoming a great warrior of the sea! Come back before you get too great, okay?”
“I promise!”
“Kaya? Sweetie? What’s going on in there…?”
“Usopp, run!” Kaya whispered. Her eyes were wide in not only fear, but excitement as well. “I’ll see you later, okay?!”
“Okay!”
The child sprinted off before his friend’s mother could investigate the room.
-_-_-_-_-_-_-
It had been an entire week and Yasopp wasn’t entirely sure what to do.
After making sure that his wife would get a proper burial and his son had everything he needed, he had returned to the ship with his six-year-old in-tow and the determination to do what Banchina would have wanted. Ever since they were young, she had encouraged him to find solace on the sea, to escape the glares and mumbled words of spite that came from the other villagers. She had always been too uneasy on the sea, and had insisted that she would be fine as he chased that freedom and acceptance he craved without her, and now… now she was gone and he had their kid, which was a bit more of an adjustment than he thought it was going to be.
Kids, for the most part, were messy creatures, and there wasn’t a lot of room for messes on a pirate ship. While Usopp didn’t have a lot of toys, he did have clutter that was liable to be underfoot, which wasn’t exactly a good idea. Limejuice had already fallen flat on his ass thanks to some marbles the boy was experimenting with, and Yasopp himself was already victim to a variety of mishaps involving the aforementioned marbles, a chemistry set that seemed to appear out of nowhere, and a slingshot armed with all sorts of things sticky and stinky.
“Thank fuck we’re almost at port,” the man grumbled. He watched as Usopp bounced around the galley in excitement at the prospect of somewhere new. Hongo nodded in commiseration, the pair both below deck due to particularly troublesome hangovers.
“Letting the kid run around on land would definitely be for the better,” Hongo said. “He needs to eat dirt.”
Yasopp turned slowly and stared at his crewmate. “What…?”
“You know—get dirty. Play with other kids.”
“I know you might have forgotten, but it’s not like the boy comes from a long line of kids everyone wants to play with. Banchina…”
“… was the only one to ever give you the time of day, I remember.” Hongo sipped at his water and grimaced at the sounds coming out of the kitchen. “Maybe some of her openness rubbed off on him?”
“If it did, then I hope the world is kinder to him for it,” Yasopp frowned. He was about to reach back into his memories when he heard Shanks’s voice from above, filled with both authority and excitement.
“LAND AHEAD! ALL HANDS ON DECK!”
“Oh! Did you hear that, Dad?! Land!” Usopp seemed to almost vibrate in anticipation. “An island!”
“I heard him, I heard him,” Yasopp grumbled. He and Hongo both knocked back the rest of their waters before depositing the mugs and heading above deck, with the small child all but dragging his father along.
A few minutes of the sea air rejuvenated Yasopp and soon he was helping out with the rigging, with Usopp standing by the prow in an effort to see where they were sailing. Shanks went up to the child and patted him on the head.
“That’s called Foosha,” he said. “We’re gonna stay there for a while, if the locals are amenable.”
“What’s that?”
“If they don’t mind that we’re pirates.” He saw that the boy’s eyes were still locked onto the small village at the island’s edge and smiled. “We need a place to operate out of—a base of sorts—in order to help build a name for ourselves.”
“Really…?”
“Yeah. Now get ready to go! You’re coming along on the first boat!”
The boy’s eyes went wide—he got to go! Important people got to go on the first boat! This was going to be great!
-_-_-_-_-_-_-
As it turned out, getting to go with the initial landing party was less exciting than Usopp imagined it would be—it was actually kind of boring. He had to stand there with his dad, Shanks, and Beckmann as the captain talked with this old man about terms of their stay and what the rules were and things like that. The boy fidgeted in place, which the village elder took notice.
“How very shrewd of you to bring him along,” the old man said. “I suppose you need a place for him to stay so he doesn’t see what you get up to?”
“Possibly, but I still take responsibility for my son,” Yasopp said, giving a short bow. “I can no longer leave him with his mother.”
“Ah.” The elder nodded knowingly. “We have a child like that here. Maybe your son will be a good influence.”
“Excuse my laughter,” Shanks snickered, “but that must be some rambunctious kid you got there if a pirate’s child is the better influence.”
“You’re just upset because Gramps didn’t take me!” shouted a tiny voice. The pirates saw a small child poking angrily around a woman’s skirt. “Maybe they’ll take me with them! Then I can finally get out of here!”
“Over my dead body, you little brat!” the elder snapped. The boy stuck his tongue out at him and the old man sighed. “The whole family is an odd bunch; it’s a long story.”
“We’re pirates—what do we care?” Shanks chuckled. He then put his hand on Usopp’s back and urged him forward. “Go play while us adults talk more boring stuff. How about it?”
The boy grinned at Usopp before coming out from behind the young woman. He launched himself at Usopp happily, wrapping him in a tight hug.
“Alright! A new friend!”
It might have been shrewd of Shanks, but it did work.
-_-_-_-_-_-_-
“So, you don’t have parents?”
“Nope!”
“…and it’s just you and your grandpa?”
“Yup!”
“…and he leaves you here because he’s a Marine?”
“Pretty much!”
Usopp stared at Luffy as the other boy poked at a beetle. He had spent almost the entire day wandering around with the kid and was trying to wrap his head around him, yet couldn’t. They were almost the exact same age, and yet he was being left alone? It didn’t make sense. Even when his mom died, at least his dad was there…
“What do you think he’d do if he came to town while the crew’s docked here?”
“Probably laugh and have a drink,” Luffy shrugged. “Gramps is never working when he’s here, so he doesn’t really care who does what unless it’s really bad.”
“…but we’re pirates. We’re supposed to be bad.”
“You don’t seem that bad to me.”
“Luffy, we’re six.”
“Yeah? And?”
“You really don’t get it, do you?” Usopp frowned. He looked over his shoulder and saw that more of the crew was coming into port. Even Bonk Punch seemed small from this distance. “We’re brave warriors of the sea! We fight guys like the Marines!”
“You don’t.”
“Well, yeah, not yet… but I will!” Usopp stood atop a rock and pointed at the sky. “It’s my dream to be a proud and brave warrior of the sea one day! Just like my dad! I’ll even have a crew under my care!”
“Maybe.”
“What do you mean ‘maybe’?!”
“You might be part of my crew!”
“Your crew?!”
“Yeah! If you’re gonna be like your dad, you’re gonna need a captain. You’ll need a Shanks! I can do that!”
“Then you’d have to fight your grandpa!”
“Oh, that’s just what we always do.” Luffy grinned and held up the beetle. “Isn’t this cool?!”
“It is…” Usopp agreed. The boys marveled over the bug for a moment before Makino popped her head out the back of her bar, calling them in to wash up. “Is she, like, your sister? She’s not your mom.”
“I guess? I dunno. She feeds me and makes sure I’m okay. Is that what sisters do?”
“It’s what my mom did for me, but I guess a sister can too.”
The boys piled into the back kitchen and went directly to the sink. “Makino? Are you my mom or my sister?”
“Luffy!”
“He’s alright, Usopp,” the woman laughed. “Now, are your hands clean?” Both finished washing their hands quickly and showed her for inspection. “Good, now your dinner’s at the bar.”
“Alright!” Luffy cheered. He brought Usopp into the main of the bar, where the Red Hair Pirates were already beginning to settle in for an evening of partying. Two plates of food and glasses of milk sat on the bartop, where Luffy and Usopp both sat down and began eating.
“Wow! Miss Makino’s cooking is really good!” Usopp marveled. “It’s amazing!”
“Yeah!” Luffy agreed. “She’s the best!” He then chewed the food he already had stored in his cheeks thoughtfully. “That’s someone I’m going to need for my crew: a really good cook!”
“I can cook!”
“No you can’t—you’re six.”
“Yeah, and I cooked for my mom! She showed me how to make sandwiches and boil macaroni for cheese!”
“That’s not real cooking! Real cooking needs meat!”
“Boys, boys, relax,” Shanks said, coming up to the bar to grab a bottle of grog that had been left out for him. He tossed it over to Snake, who pulled the cork out with his teeth before he began drinking. “Let’s focus on the fact that you agree the lady’s cooking is superb.”
“Flattery will not get you very far here, I’m afraid,” Makino chuckled as she came out of the kitchen. She passed Shanks two plates of food, which he took with a suggestive wink. “I should rat you out to Woop Slap.”
“I do enjoy living dangerously,” he laughed, bringing the plates out to the crew. Luffy and Usopp simply stared at each other, confused.
“Don’t worry about it,” Makino chuckled. “Now finish your dinner and you can go play upstairs, okay?”
“Okay!”
-_-_-_-_-_-_-
The next morning, Usopp and Luffy went down the stairs to find the entirety of the Red Hair Pirates still passed out in the main area of the bar. Usopp even poked his dad, who kept on snoring—no luck.
“Come on, you,” Makino said, guiding the boy over to where she had set out food. “If you don’t eat, Luffy will finish your plate for you.”
“No! Don’t you dare!” The boy hopped onto the bar stool and began hoarking down his food, needing to smack Luffy away a couple of times in the process.
Yeah, Makino thought, this was right.
-_-_-_-_-_-_-
Time passed.
The Red Hair Pirates would leave Usopp in the care of Makino, returning a few weeks later with all the treasure and tales of adventure the boy and his friend could want. He would practice with his slingshot, or his chemistry set, or anything else he could while they were gone, making his dad beam with joy and pride when he told and showed him everything he accomplished.
Time passed, and the year mark crept ever-closer.
-_-_-_-_-_-_-
Makino let out a blood-curdling scream, the sound of which went directly into Usopp’s young bones. Both of them were standing on the edge of the harbor, watching as Shanks intimidated the Lord of the Coast with just a glare, but not after losing an arm as he went and rescued Luffy.
“Fuck! We need to get out there!” Yasopp cussed as he ran towards the pier.
“Everyone! Clean up the rest of the bandits!” Beckmann ordered. “We got this!”
“Aye, aye,” Roux said. He and the rest of the Red Hair Pirates charged at the last of Higuma’s gang, while Yasopp and Beckmann rowed out to where Shanks was treading water. This left Makino alone to sink to her knees, completely in shock, as Usopp trembled next to her.
“I told him not to make them mad…” the boy shivered. “Why didn’t he listen?!”
“I… I don’t think it would have mattered,” Makino said, her voice quiet. She looked at Usopp, her eyes glassy with tears, and held him by the shoulders. “This is not your fault.”
“…but Miss Makino, I…!”
“The only person who’s at fault is the bandit, and he’s now dead,” she insisted. She then brought him in close for a hug. “Don’t you ever think otherwise, you understand?”
“…but…!”
“I know you plan on being there for Luffy, and I need you to know that it’s not your fault, got it? Sometimes… things happen… and we can’t change it, but we can control how we act for them.”
“O… okay…”
It was then that Yasopp finished rowing back to shore, with Beckmann attempting to hold Shanks still while Luffy sobbed uncontrollably. Hongo appeared with his emergency kit, attempting to stop what was left of his captain’s arm from bleeding out right there on the dock. Yasopp threw Luffy over his shoulder and brought him to Makino, who grabbed onto him tightly.
“I thought… I thought he could…” she said unsteadily.
“He was so concentrated on saving this little guy that it was too late,” Yasopp replied. He stroked Luffy’s hair as the boy cried into Makino’s shoulder before turning his attention to his own son. Scooping up Usopp in a hug, he ignored the fact that he was currently sopping wet and covered in his captain’s blood—all he needed right now was his boy. “I’m so glad he didn’t get you too—the fact both of you are safe… it’s worth more than any treasure.”
Shanks bellowed in pain, causing all four of them to recoil. Usopp stared at the man as he writhed under Beckmann’s hold and Hongo’s attempts at treating him.
‘A captain has to know what his crew needs,’ he thought. ‘He needs to make it happen. Luffy needed to live… and he made that happen…’
There, on the little pier at the edge of the little village, the little boy in his father’s arms realized something very, very important: a captain was not a captain unless he had a crew, and once he had them, he should be prepared to do everything for them… even die for them… just like his mom died taking care of him.
A captain took care of his crew.
A crew is a captain’s greatest treasure.
The people one cared for are worth more than all the gold in the Grand Line.
-_-_-_-_-_-_-
It took a few days until Shanks was able to be let out of bed. Hongo and Makino took turns watching him, waiting for the fever that set in to break, hoping he hadn’t lost too much blood. Once he was up and moving, Luffy seemed to completely forget that Usopp existed, instead clinging to the man who saved his life. It made sense to the other boy, but it still didn’t mean that he wasn’t at least a bit jealous.
It was a week since what the village was officially referring to as the “Bear Incident” and the Red Hair Pirates were enjoying themselves in Party’s Bar. Usopp was sulking in a booth while eating with his father, with Monster passed out on the opposite bench seat. Yasopp looked at the pouting lad and felt his nerves messing with his stomach. Fuck… why was this so difficult? He leaned in and lowered his voice so that only his son could hear.
“Usopp…?”
“Yeah, Dad?” He put down his fork as he saw that his father’s face was sad and full of worry. “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing’s wrong. I just wanted to know if you like it here.”
“I do!” the boy replied, perking up. “Makino makes good food, and the people here are really nice, and Luffy’s, like, my best friend! After Kaya of course! Why?”
“Well… because…” Yasopp exhaled heavily, not enjoying his position. “Shanks wants to move on soon.”
“Move on…? To a different island…?”
“To the Grand Line.” He scratched his son’s scalp and watched as he grew quiet. There was something criminal about the boy having his hair and complexion, but his mother’s nose. “It’s very dangerous, you know, to be on the Grand Line. It’s more dangerous than fighting the Lord of the Coast. Even people who are born and raised there can’t survive.”
“I don’t think I want to go to the Grand Line.”
“…which is why I was talking with Miss Makino earlier, and her and I think it would be better if you stayed here, in Foosha.”
“What about you…?”
Yasopp bit his lower lip and breathed in deeply, trying to keep himself composed. “I can’t stay. I’m a sailor, and the sea calls to me. It’s why I never was around before—it’s too strong for me to resist.”
“Oh… is that why everyone but Mom said bad things about you back in Syrup? Because you can’t tell the sea no?”
“Yeah… something like that.” He then let out a slight chuckle. “Besides, not only am I a sailor, but a pirate. Mister Woop Slap says pirates can’t stay here for too long, or Luffy’s grandpa might come and beat them up.”
“Luffy says that’s just what his grandpa does like normal,” Usopp deadpanned. Well, it had been worth a shot. “It’s nice when you’re gone, but it’s better when you’re here.”
“Tell you what: I’m going to let you stay here with Miss Makino, where it’s safe and you have good people around you, and in the meantime you are going to do your best to become big and strong. When you do, come to the Grand Line and find me. How does that sound?”
Usopp broke into sobs, clinging to Yasopp’s shirt. The kid was unintelligible through his tears, but his father held him in his arms and pat him on the back, soothing him best he could.
“You’re one of the best things I’ve ever done, you know that?” he crooned. “I can’t bring you to the Grand Line and let you die. Then who will I have to live for?”
“I’ll miss you so much!”
“I know… and I’ll miss you too… but you have to be brave, Usopp. Be brave for me… and be brave for your mom. Please?” His son nodded into his chest. “There’s a good lad. I’ll always be proud of you… for everything that’s happened to us in the past year, you’ve been taking it very well.”
“When are you going to leave…?”
“Tomorrow.” He offered Usopp a smile and pat his hair. “Just remember that you have to let whatever happens to you push you forward, not back.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah. Different people get pushed differently by the same things, so don’t compare yourself or get too worried. You’re your mother’s son—nothing is going to keep you down for long. I know it.”
Usopp wiped his nose on his arm and laughed weakly. Yeah… he guessed so.
“Until then,” Yasopp said, “let’s party! Go get some cake from Lucky Roux! Big slices! Go on!” He shoved his son from the booth and watched as he scurried across the dining area to where their large crewmate was lording over an even larger cake.
What was harder? Leaving his kind and understanding wife and a baby who didn’t know him or his son just as they were just becoming acquainted? He didn’t think he had the answer, nor did he want one.
-_-_-_-_-_-_-
Dawn was just beginning to break and wash Foosha Village with a lovely golden glow. The Red Hair Pirates all were asleep where they had been partying in the bar; even Usopp was curled up in his father’s side… that was… until Luffy began to shake him awake.
“Hey, Usopp! Get up!”
“What is it?” the boy asked groggily.
“I’m hungry, and no one else is awake to cook.”
“What about Miss Makino?”
“Her door’s locked.”
Usopp groaned and tried to shake his father awake—nothing. So, instead, he found a lockpick set on one of the other pirates and went up the stairs with Luffy. He worked patiently, eventually getting the door to give way. The pair went into the dark room and tugged at the blankets, rousing the sleeping adult.
“Miss Makino!” Luffy whined. “We’re hungry!”
“Oh fuck…” was the reply, except it wasn’t Makino…
“Captain…?” Usopp frowned. “What are you doing here?”
“I… uh… fell asleep talking to Miss Makino. She’ll be down in a minute.”
“…but Shanks! You’re naked!”
“I know Luffy, just… fuck… go play until Miss Makino calls for you, alright?”
The boys left the room disheartened, but also very confused. Why was the Captain in Miss Makino’s room? It took until they were outside watching the bugs hum to life in the sunrise before Usopp realized what had happened, hitting him like a ton of bricks.
Luckily for him, the scream he let out was the same he made when a bug took him by surprise, so no one awake in Foosha paid him any mind.
-_-_-_-_-_-_-
After a tearful goodbye at the docks, the Red Hair Pirates sailed off without their youngest member. The boy and his friend watched until the ship could no longer be seen on the horizon, heading off to the forest afterwards to go play with bugs. They did that for a couple months, playing during the day and pretending to be pirates up in their rooms at night, until one morning, Usopp came down the stairs and saw that Luffy was not there.
“He’s gone?!”
“Yes; his grandpa came this morning and took him to the mountains,” Makino said. “We can go visit him in a couple weeks, if you’d like.”
“A couple weeks?!”
“We’re supposed to take food up to the Dadan Family around then—that’s who he’s staying with.”
“Th-th-the D-d-d-dadan Family?! Is Luffy going to be okay?!”
“Pretty sure; his grandpa wouldn’t take him there unless the thought it would be for the best.” She watched as Usopp sat down at his usual bar stool while seeming very conflicted. “I told him about you, by the way.”
“You did…?”
“I did. He likes that Luffy has a friend in you. For the meantime, it’s probably better you stay here, with me, in a place that’s not a bandit-infested forest.”
“True, true,” Usopp nodded. A plate of food was then placed before him, brightening his expression considerably.
-_-_-_-_-_-_-
Kaya,
It’s me, Usopp! I know we haven’t spoken in a long time, but I thought I’d write to you now that I know where I’m staying! There was enough left over in my allowance to get some paper and Coo fee, so here I am!
How are you doing? My dad left me in a different village, where people are nicer than the ones in Syrup. It’s called Foosha, and it’s in Goa Kingdom. I live with a lady named Makino—she’s really nice! You’d like her! She owns a bar and I help out sometimes. It’s the only one in town, so lots of people come by. Pirates, Marines, bounty hunters, bandits—we see them all! I’m saving the money I make so Luffy and I can sail to the Grand Line when we’re older! Maybe you can come along too?
Oh, yeah, that’s right: you’re my first best friend, but Luffy’s my second best friend. He used to live with Makino too, but now he lives in the mountains with his brothers Ace and Sabo. Luffy ate a Devil Fruit! He can stretch! It’s pretty cool, but not as cool as my shooting skills! I’m getting really good and some day, I’ll be better than my dad!
Okay, it’s time to wrap up now. It’s almost time for bed. I’ll send this in the morning.
Usopp
-_-_-_-_-_-_-
“Luffy! Luffy, where are you?!”
Usopp looked around the treehouse, trying to find his friend. While it wasn’t unusual for him to not be there, at the same time it felt as though something was off. The boy shuffled around in an attempt to find any of the hideout’s usual suspects and got nothing.
Huh.
Shifting his backpack, Usopp cautiously wandered the forest in search of his friend. It wasn’t really like Luffy to not be around during Supply Day, when he and Makino brought food and drinks and other things up to Curly Dadan and her bandit crew. He was getting pretty good at dodging the dangerous parts of the forest—the things that Luffy’s grandpa said would make him stronger—and was actually beginning to like the place.
Except, when he finally found Luffy, he and Ace were standing near a cliff, the younger sobbing as they watched the Grey Terminal smolder in the distance. A couple sticks tied together into a cross had been stabbed into the ground and something sickeningly familiar coiled in the pit of Usopp’s stomach.
“Luffy? Ace? Where is Sabo?”
Ace was the one to turn around first, his face more dour and serious than the other boy had ever seen. “The Celestial Dragons murdered him. They didn’t care that he was just a kid.”
“I hate them!” Luffy hissed. “I want Sabo back! We made a promise…!”
“That’s not gonna help!” Usopp snapped. He then gasped, shocked at his own outburst, and softened his tone. “Wanting a dead person to come back isn’t going to do anything, like when my mom died. You have to be brave…” He then looked down at his hands—chapped from experiments with his chemistry set and wiping tables at the bar—and began picking at his fingers. “You have to let it push you forward.”
“Smart,” Ace nodded. He watched as Usopp pulled some food from his backpack and offer it consolingly to Luffy. “You sure you don’t want to stay here with us? There’s an opening now and… well… Sabo did like you. He’d like you being our third.”
“I can’t replace him,” Usopp said, shaking his head. “Besides, I learn a lot in the village! I don’t want to stop learning because I’m out here fighting to survive!”
“Fair,” Ace chuckled. The smile on his face was genuine, which made Usopp feel better.
“Then you and I can go!” Luffy insisted. “Ace and Sabo were already going to leave me behind! I can be co-captains with Usopp!”
“Luffy, that’s a lot of responsibility,” Ace warned.
“Well, yeah, but I’m gonna get stronger! And stronger! And stronger! And Usopp’s gonna get smarter, and we won’t let anything beat us! We won’t let anything like what happened to Sabo happen again!”
“We’ll do our best,” Usopp agreed. “Because that’s what friends do, right?!”
“Shishishi—right!” Luffy grinned through the remainder of his tears and snack. He and Usopp clapped their hands together, sealing the deal.
-_-_-_-_-_-_-
It was a busy afternoon in Foosha Village, with many ships at the port on their usual trade stops. In Party’s Bar, the young teenaged busboy hurried to clear tables and wipe down surfaces, moving quickly as he worked.
“I’m gonna go wash some dishes, Miss Makino,” Usopp said, presenting her with the full tub. His boss was mid-pour of some beer and nodded as she finished it off.
“Let me know when you’re done, alright?”
“Yes, ma’am!” He carried everything into the kitchen and found that the water from when he did glasses a few moments earlier was still hot. Taking advantage of that, he got right into washing dishes, not even noticing that someone else had slipped into the kitchen behind him.
“Usopp, I’m bored!” The teen nearly dropped the plate in his hands at the sound of his friend’s voice. Turning around, he saw that it was definitely his best friend and co-captain, having snuck his way in without a problem.
“Luffy, I’m working.” He put his hands on his hips and scowled. “Don’t you know what a job is?”
“Jobs are boring—let’s go have fun!”
Usopp stuck his head out the kitchen door with a scowl. “Miss Makino! Luffy’s being a bad influence!” The woman in question simply smiled as she dried a glass with an expert hand.
“You’ve been working very hard, Usopp,” she said. “I think you’ve earned a bit of time with Luffy being a bad influence. Go on.”
“…but…!”
“Go! Go!” She shooed them both out through the back, insisting she had things covered until dinner. The teens then found themselves wandering around, with Luffy eventually bringing them to sit on the cliff overlooking the harbor.
“What do you think they’re doing?” Luffy wondered, his gaze unfocused over the ocean. Usopp shrugged.
“Ace might have made it to Logue Town by now… and my dad’s in the Grand Line, so I dunno…” He looked at his friend and wondered. “Are you sure you want me to sail with you?”
“Well, yeah, of course I do,” Luffy insisted. “You’re my friend and co-captain! Like how Ace and Sabo were gonna be co-captains!”
“…except, Ace and Sabo were brothers—your brothers—and I’m just a kid who lives in town.”
“That doesn’t make it different.” Luffy then laid down, turning his face to the sky. “We’re gonna do great things once we get to the Grand Line!”
“The two of us?”
“Well, yeah, but of course we’ll have a crew first. I’m sure Shanks and your dad will laugh at us if it’s just us two in a dinghy.”
“Ha, yeah…” Usopp hugged his knees and frowned at the ocean waves. “Doesn’t mean it’s not scary.”
“Shishishi—of course it’s scary!” Luffy laughed. “That’s the whole point of adventure, isn’t it? Doing things and seeing places other people are too scared of? Being more free than anyone else out there?”
“I guess, but…”
“You worry too much, Usopp.”
“Maybe that’s because you don’t worry enough.”
“Mmm… probably. But that’s okay. We’re still the captains, and that means we’ll take care of the crew and each other. That’s what counts, right?”
“Yeah… I guess it does.”
-_-_-_-_-_-_-
Usopp admittedly wasn’t entirely prepared for when he set out from Foosha Village with Luffy, but he didn’t think that things would be as crazy as they became.
Making a new friend while surviving a mace-wielding nutcase? Check.
Recruiting a bounty hunter to the crew so powerful he was referred to as Pirate Hunter? Check.
Letting their new friend go off to do something as insane as join the Marines?! Check.
Team up with a girl to fight against a murderous clown that could slice himself into tiny bits? There was not enough insanity Usopp could conjure to have predicted that one.
However, when the young woman said that she was a navigator, there was a single request he had for where they would go next.
“So, this is where you’re from?” Nami asked. She raised an eyebrow at the sleepy little town. Their small boats were moored by the harbor and they were now walking along the path that led into the village. “There’s not a lot to it, is there?”
“No, but it’s still important to me,” Usopp said. “Let’s go see what’s going on these days!”
“Are we going to visit Kaya?” Luffy asked. Zoro and Nami looked at each other, then Usopp.
“Who’s Kaya?” Zoro wondered.
“Oh, that’s just Usopp’s super-best friend when he lived here!” Luffy explained. Usopp began to blush, which made the other two smirk. “He only talked about her, like, all the time when we were growing up!”
“We wrote a lot after I left, so we’ve been keeping in touch.”
“Well then, let’s go meet her,” Nami grinned.
Usopp swallowed hard—that was the look of a woman on a mission, and he wasn’t entirely certain he liked said mission. The crew meeting Kaya was sort of the last thing he wanted to do at the moment. He knew it was inevitable, however, and continued to lead them into the village, where everyone stared at them with some form of curiosity or disdain.
“Some welcome wagon this is,” Zoro noted as someone closed some window shutters at the sight of them. “I’ve gotten better receptions in dive bars in my bounty hunter days.”
“Well, Dad wasn’t too popular with the village, and Mom defended him, so she wasn’t liked a lot either,” Usopp shrugged. “Before I met Luffy, I only ever had one friend…”
“…and that’s this Kaya…?” Nami finished. He shrugged—well, yeah. “Do you think she’d like to come along?”
“Probably not—she’s been sick since her parents died a couple years ago. Even if she wanted to go, she’d likely need a doctor to come along too, and I don’t think any of us are good enough at medicine for that.”
“No, I guess not,” Nami said. She then noticed that they had walked past the last house, continuing on the path. “Uh… Usopp? Where does your friend live?”
“Right outside the village,” he said. “It’s how we became friends—we both didn’t live in the main part of the village, so we were practically neighbors!”
Except the crew didn’t expect his “neighbor” to live in a literal mansion, where the door was answered by a tall butler with slicked-back black hair and eyeglasses.
“Miss Kaya is too ill to visit with the likes of you; now go away.”
“Who the hell are you, telling me Kaya’s not doing well?!” Usopp fired back. He glared at the man standing in the doorway to Kaya’s house, unsure of the aura he was giving off. “I’m the Dread Captain Usopp, and I’ve been Kaya’s best friend since we were kids!”
“I’ve never seen you before,” the man sneered. He looked over Usopp’s shoulder at the rest of the crew, who were standing a few paces back. “Now you hooligans better leave before I call the police!”
“Klahadore! Don’t!” It was then that Kaya appeared at his side, looking rather cross. She also looked extremely frail, which was a distinct change from the girl who Usopp used to climb trees and play tag with. “This is the friend I’m always writing to! It’s him!”
“Miss Kaya! You should not be up!”
“My friend is back! That’s reason enough!”
“This is a charlatan, not your friend; besides, you are in no state to receive visitors.”
“Huh…” Nami muttered. “This is more interesting than I thought.”
“I’ll say,” Zoro agreed. He glanced over at Luffy, seeing that the captain’s fist was clenched. “Oi. Let Usopp fight his own battles.”
“This guy pisses me off,” Luffy said. “Usopp lies, but not about important stuff. Kaya’s one of his most important people.”
“I don’t know if that’s up for us to determine,” Nami added.
“We’ve been writing to each other to years! I’m her friend!”
“Miss Kaya has been corresponding with a young man from the city with prospects and standing,” the butler sneered. “You look like someone with neither.”
“That’s what Mother and Father told you so that you wouldn’t worry!” Kaya said. “We knew your ship was sunk by pirates, and that’s what Usopp’s dad is, but he’s a good guy!”
“Pirates are nothing but cowards and scoundrels.”
“Mother always said that his father was unjustly blamed and his mother brave for loving him! She hated having to stand by and watch, but she remembered! They were brave and loving people!”
Usopp sucked in a breath—he never heard anyone describe his parents in such a way. If that was what Kaya was always told, then maybe… was his dad wrong about this place?
“I cannot let us waste more time with these degenerates,” the butler said.
“Klahadore, that is enough! I command you—!”
Everyone went quiet as the butler slapped Kaya across the cheek. She stared at him, eyes wide and mouth ajar. Usopp froze in shock, unable to move. Luffy made a motion to hit the guy back, but Zoro put a hand on his shoulder. Not yet.
“Now look at what you made me do,” the butler hissed. “Your parents left your care to me, and now…” He looked at his own hand in irritation, which he then turned to Usopp. “You four are not welcome here. Do not attempt to contact Miss Kaya any further. Good day.”
The door closed in Usopp’s face and the teen—still in shock—could only gape.
“What the fuck…?” he breathed. “Kaya…?” He pounded both fists on the door and screamed her name at the top of his lungs.
“Come on,” Nami said, gently pulling him from the door. “We’ll figure something out.”
“…but…!”
“She’s right; let’s go,” Luffy frowned.
-_-_-_-_-_-_-
It was the dead of night as Usopp snuck onto the grounds of Kaya’s mansion, heading directly over to where he remembered her room was. He knocked gently on the windowpane and stepped back, waiting for her to get out of bed. Soon as she opened the window, he hugged her tightly, an act which she returned.
“I can’t believe he did that,” he whispered. He then held her at arm’s length and tried not to gasp at the sight of her in the moonlight. “Has he ever done that before?”
“No… and he’s been apologizing since,” she replied. “I… I should have told you sooner…”
“Come with us,” Usopp blurted out. “We can get you out of here, see the world…”
“You know I can’t…!”
“We’ll just get a doctor on the way; it’s a priority anyhow,” he said. Seas… had Kaya always been this pretty? “Please…”
“I’m too fragile…”
“…from staying in this room! Come with us! Let me take care of you! Don’t tell me after all you wrote that you don’t want to see what’s out there?”
“Usopp, you know I do, but…!” She was cut off by the sound of someone else in the house, just outside her door. “Quick! Hide!” Usopp was just out of sight when the butler entered the room. “Oh! Klahadore! You didn’t need to come in!”
“You didn’t answer and I was worried,” he said. “Why is the window open?”
“I was a bit warm,” she lied. “Besides, I’m a bit restless.”
“Are you thinking about that boy again?”
“My friend, even if you don’t believe me.”
“Your parents left you in my care—it would be a great dishonor to their memory if I didn’t question the boy and his intentions regarding you.”
“His intentions…? Klahadore, his intentions involve going out to sea and becoming a proud warrior. He made a promise to visit me before he did, and he tried, and you ruined it.”
“A pirate’s child turning pirate is worse than both those things put together. His blood is poisoned…”
“…only because you don’t know him. Goodnight, Klahadore. I’ll see you in the morning.”
Despondent, the butler left the room and closed the door behind him, his charge waiting to hear his footsteps down the corridor before she flung herself back at the window, seeing Usopp hugging the wall in terror.
“Give me three days,” she said. “That’s when I’ll have the opportunity to get out of here.”
The grins they shared were brighter than the moon and stars combined.
-_-_-_-_-_-_-
“I still don’t know why we’ve got to wait,” Zoro grumbled. He and the others were sitting up inside Usopp’s house he used to share with his mom, the night after he talked to Kaya. The co-captain poked his head out the window, checking to make sure no one else was around.
“That asshole butler of hers takes a weekly trip to the next town over to get certain groceries,” he said. “We’ll help her sneak out then and leave notes with another butler and the village leader to kick Klahadore out while she’s gone. Then the five of us can head to the Grand Line.”
“No offense, Usopp,” Nami said, “but what can she do other than weigh us down?”
“She won’t!”
“The witch has a point,” Zoro grunted. “She’s practically an invalid; you can’t take someone like that to the Grand Line and expect everything to turn out okay. Maybe if we already had a doctor…”
“Luffy, can you back me on this?” Usopp groaned. He looked over at the other teen, who had his nose in a book. “Luff, come on…”
“I was just looking at this book—it’s got pictures from before we met!” he said. Luffy brought the book over to the table and set it down, showing a photo of Yasopp, Banchina, and a baby Usopp. “That’s your mom, right?”
“Yeah,” Usopp nodded. Something tugged at his heart—it was the first time he’d seen a photo of his mom in a long while. He turned the page and found one of him and her together, from right before she got sick. “You know, I never thought about her being the brave one until Kaya said it earlier.”
“She risked begin shunned by the village by being with your dad, from what it sounded like,” Zoro shrugged. “That, if anything, takes guts.”
“It really does,” Usopp agreed. He tensed up and stared at the door—someone was coming. The four all readied themselves, only for three kids to burst into the house.
“Pirates!” they cried.
“Uh… yeah…” Nami grimaced. This was going to be tedious, wasn’t it? “We’re pirates.”
“No, not you pirates!” the kid with the glasses panicked. “You’ve not done pirate stuff!”
“Well, we’re gonna do pirate stuff if I’m gonna be King of the Pirates,” Luffy said plainly.
“No, you don’t get it: there’s pirates at the slopes!” the one with the green hat explained. “And they’re talking about killing Miss Kaya!”
“Her creepy butler is with them, and he says he wants to kill her himself!” Glasses said.
“We think they want to blame you for it!” the third boy said. “You’re pirates too, but you’re not mean! Doesn’t Miss Kaya like you?!”
“She does,” Nami said. She looked over at Usopp, who seemed absolutely terrified. “So, Co-Captain, what do you plan on doing?”
“We’re going to save Kaya!” he said, entire body shaking in nerves. Luffy and Zoro both grinned, as they knew that this meant they were going to be able to finally pick a fight.
It was on.
-_-_-_-_-_-_-
When all was said and done, Usopp was sure he didn’t like cats to begin with anyhow. Adding the fact that Kaya’s asshole butler was a famous pirate captain that supposedly had been captured and executed years earlier and planned on killing her in order to get her money and retire? Definitely not one of the things he had expected when he set off from Foosha.
The butler crumpled to the ground unconscious, knocked out cold from Usopp’s Ten Ton Hammer. Kaya had been underneath him, making it so she had to avoid him falling on her. She looked up at her best friend and nearly cried.
“Usopp, I…!” Kaya gasped as he lifted her up to her feet. They looked at each other and giggled awkwardly. “Thank you.”
“A captain takes care of his crew,” he said. He then swallowed hard at the realization of what he just implied. “I mean, a pirate’s crew is their friends, and… you’ve always been my friend, and…”
With a smile, Kaya placed her finger on Usopp’s lips, silencing him. They then both leaned in and kissed one another, chastely yet by no means less exhilarating. The only thing that stopped them was hearing gagging noises—the Pintsized Pirate Patrol had found them.
“Oh, and what are you three going on about?” Usopp frowned. “Wait until you see someone so pretty you have no choice but to kiss them!”
“Adults are so gross!” Green Hat scowled.
“Uh-huh, sure,” Usopp deadpanned. He felt Kaya’s arms warp around his middle and he sighed, his arm going around her waist. “Now where’s the rope? We need to tie this creep up before he wakes up and tries to kill us all again!”
-_-_-_-_-_-_-
“Are you sure you can’t come along?” Usopp asked. He was sitting with Kaya on the beach, watching as Luffy, Zoro, and Nami got a tour of the Going Merry. They were getting the caravel as a gift for saving the town from the Black Cat Pirates, which honestly took the entire village by surprise. The only reason they even believed the teens was the fact that Merry backed them at all, so it was his honor to present them with their reward.
“I’ve got to get better first, but I think I’m going to do something else,” she said. “I want to be a doctor.”
“That’s… very different from sailing with us,” he acknowledged. “I’m just curious… why?”
“…because one day you’re going to be dragging yourself back here and someone is going to need to patch you up,” she giggled.
“Ouch, okay, fair.” They both laughed before he leaned in and pressed a kiss to her lips. “As long as you’re going forward.”
“Yeah.” She saw how much fun the others were having with Merry and she nodded to gesture in their direction. “Come on—a captain needs to take care of his crew, right?”
“Right.”
-_-_-_-_-_-_-
“Miss Kaya, the newspaper.”
Months had gone by in Syrup Village, with Kaya making considerable improvement with both her condition and her studies. She was reading a chapter on phlebotomy over breakfast when Merry brought in the paper.
“Oh, thank you!” She took it from him appreciatively. “There’s so much happening that it’s difficult to keep up, isn’t it?”
“It can be,” he agreed. Merry watched as her brow furrowed at the front page. “What is it?”
“Usopp…” She went to the bounty poster inserts and pulled out a small pile dedicated to the Straw Hat Pirates. There was Luffy, Zoro, Nami… ah… wait… Sogeking?! “They all have bounties now.”
“Well, would you look at that; you’re right!” Merry laughed. “Declaring war on the World Government? Oh, he is going to need to get patched up next time you see him!”
Declaring war on the World Government in order to save his crewmate… he really was a brave captain after all.

I don't think I'll ever be able to describe the way my mind imagines the sea at night while on the Sunny. I hope I can give you all a small glimpse into it with posts like this ~ 🌌 🌊
Ace is late summer evenings and fleeting things.
Usopp is the changing moon and stories told when you should already be asleep.
Zoro breathes the night and its ghosts like a drowning man taking his first gasp of air.
Ace tells stories at dusk. He drags gold fingers across the sky, staining the evening clouds and coaxing the other colors out to say goodnight. Everything growing dark at the edges like spilled ink and rose colors blooming like evening flowers around him. He paints the air with lingering designs, leaving an outline like drawing with embers. The pictures blink out quick but they're just a bonus. The real stories get told in how often he bursts into laughter like crackling wood or the way his bare shoulders glow in the setting sun in a way that looks like flames will flicker out in greeting at any moment. His veins flash like gold lightning when he looks towards the lowering sun sitting on the horizon like half a coin, or drawing to mind a certain straw hat. Life rushing through him with no way to express itself other than to burn, to exist. The sun sets and the white of his teeth disappears like a flame being blown out, the world suddenly much darker. The smell of smoke wrapping around them like a blanket.
Usopp tells stories at night. When the shadows are long and dark but familiar, always familiar, when even blindfolded they would all know every step on their ship. They curl around him and settle heavy like the moon dropping a cloak on his shoulders. He pokes holes in tin and places a candle next to it so that the shadows can dance on the wall, a request for them to come preform a show if they'd like. He lays on his back and uses callused fingers to trace out constellations, some of the stories he tells jump the stars with him like they're whisper their stories along with him. Others answer in shooting stars that fly away with shaking heads at the lies he makes up. Fireflies settle in his hair like tangled star dust, blipping happily, and tired from traveling to hear his stories. His voice is a low rumble that twists with the, far too awake for this hour, waves that scratch at the sides of the ship when they want to hear more. The ship itself creaks encouragingly, like a mother nudging her child to continue, and the sails flutter like visiting ghosts.
Zoro listens at night. The dark pulls on him like a desperate lover and the wind whisks away any noise he makes until he moves in complete silence. When he dreams, the swords on his hips talk in languages he doesn't understand and he wakes up with his mouth curling in strange shapes around words he can't remember. The steel shines like the silver edged waves and old gods trail behind him in his shadow asking for wine darker than blood. The sea croons at him in a hundred voices, all telling stories for lives he doesn't know. They're mindless and always changing: a mother speaking love like curling flowers into the air, a young voice crying with crashing waves about too little time please I wasn't done yet, an old man rasping riddles about life. Zoro greets them all with a nod, with some spilled wine on sun soaked wood when no one is paying attention, with the blood of victory smeared on the railings of their home.
So...
Am I asking you to picture Usopp with curls pinned loosely on top of his head and fireflies stuck in his hair like living gold? Fuck yeah I am.
Am I asking you to picture Zoro sighing and biting back a small smile as he settles in the space between sleep and awareness, his swords bickering quietly like the old spirit guys from Mulan? Fuck yeah I am.
And am I asking you to picture Ace getting so excited telling a story that he waves his arms around and accidentally catches fire like a phoenix? The actual kind not the pineapple version. Fuck yeah I am.

There he was, that dark haired man with the spotted hat from earlier. He sat up in the bleachers, in between their rented arena and the field that housed the two other students. His notebook sat open on his lap and he held a pen in hand, as if he had simply been teleported across campus and hadn’t actually moved an inch.
In the bright light of the stadium, Luffy was able to see the shadow that bobbed at the man’s shoulder better than before. A black, slightly transparent creature that seemed more limb than body hovered close to the man’s face, large red eyes staring unblinkingly at its trainer. Two long arms clutched at nothing, a golden plated death mask propped between a curled tail and its body.
A Yamask – a Pokémon said to be the spirit of a departed human, a vengeful soul.
The man was staring at Luffy, lips moving as silent words were uttered to his creature companion. His brow furrowed in irritation and his head swiveled towards the Yamask, as if an argument was unfolding between them.
Luffy lifted a hand as those topaz eyes glared his way once more, waving casually, putting on his sunniest smile.
He thought he saw a flicker of surprise pass through the man’s expression, though it was fleeting, replaced immediately by a tight lipped frown. Breaking eye contact and returning to the book in his lap, it was as if he had never even looked at Luffy in the first place, ignoring the wave and neglecting to return the gesture.
“Don’t bother with Trafalgar Law, Luffy."
Sanji’s smooth drawl directed his attention back to his new group of friends. The blond sucked on his cigarette, exhaling a cloud of smoke before adding, “He keeps to himself.”
Zoro shouldered Chopper’s back pack (insisting on carrying it in appreciation for the medical treatment of his Pokémon), grunting, “That third year gives me the creeps. Such a spooky fucker. Always talking to that ghost of his.”
“He gives you the creeps?” Usopp squeaked, clinging to Nami’s shoulders as he cowered behind her, “Count me out. I’m not befriending anyone who spends all their time with ghosts.”
Robin giggled ominously, “I suppose I’ll see myself out, then. Zoro can escort me back to the residence since his Honedge is a ghost type as well.”
The green haired man crossed his arms over his chest, frowning at Usopp. The latter's Joltik tittered nervously under Zoro's steely gaze, scurrying down from her trainer’s bandana to hide in the curly mess of hair on his shoulder.
They began to make their way towards the walk out from which they had came, laughing amongst themselves about Usopp’s naïve remark and chatting about what ghost Pokémon were considered creepy, cool, or cute.
Luffy paused, allowing the rest of the group to continue forward as he lingered behind.
He took in the bright lights of the stadium, the massive rows of bleachers, the assortment of arenas. A bubble rose into his throat, a squeal of excitement dying to be let out. In a few days time, he would have his first Battle School class in the building, and in a week, he would be practicing on this very field.
Looking up towards the stands where he had seen the mysterious third year known as Trafa…Toraf…Torao Law, he searched for that solemn gaze once more.
It was nowhere to be found.
The bubble popped.

brave little cloud: 1013 spoilers
Ah, you know how Oda gets you choked up over ships. Well, same goes for brave little clouds.
Tumblr media
Mama, Prometheus and Napoleon have rejected Zeus claiming he’s an airhead (Nami agrees later). But Prometheus’ real aim in having Mama create Hera was so he could get a girlfriend. Hera’s response is:
Tumblr media
Too bad!
Zeus feels the worst kind of schoolyard-rejection times one thousand, because he’s made from part of Mama’s soul and she isn’t letting him go, even though she doesn’t want him either.
Tumblr media
Big Mom offers Zeus as a snack to Hera to strengthen her and, in the scans at least, Hera calls him Zeus-Senpai, all the while planning....(more after the cut)
...to eat him. Poor little cloud.
Tumblr media
Zeus tries to find refuge with Nami (panels above), but he did try to kill her before, so she’s not having any part of it. But we know Nami, I think it would have been so she had the greater bargaining power.
Finally, Zeus knowing that he was going to die anyway (also above), offers up his life (especially as Big Mom has just taken Tama in the way that she took Brook, as a cute addition to her collection of sentiment beings. This collection includes her children).
Tumblr media
Zeus doesn’t do such a good job, but it is a distraction, and Nami sends some of her thunder balls, are they? Zeus’ favourite snack, his way to help save him. But Mama’s already squeezed his life spirit out of him, and the new homie gobbles hims up.
But it is enough of a distraction, cos’ by now Usopp has Tama thanks to Zeus acting as a decoy, so his sacrifice was not in vain.  Nami and Usopp are hotfooting it out of there with Big Mom zeroing in on them with the super-homie-charged Napoleon.
Tumblr media
Big Mom showing how her “compassion” works. Earlier she stated that she hated being deserted (see above). The dangerously childish part of her is portrayed really well. And that intervention from Zeus was also enough for
Tumblr media
the contraption above to appear out of nowhere (Law is heading this direction too). And of course it belongs to
Tumblr media
the guitar-brand-naming Eustass
Tumblr media
Captain Kiiiid! Big Mom shakes her way out of that attack pretty easily (above). More angered than ever, but look how happy Nami is. I think she and Kid could definitely become besties. But she was ready to be besties with Ulti and Big Mom last chapter too! Opportunities to cheat death and injury have that effect.
Meanwhile, up on the roof...
Tumblr media
“Luffy falls. What’s going to happen to Wano?” the narrator asks. Kaidou’s words about everyone having blind faith unless he showed them Luffy’s head are good ones, but to answer the narrator’s question, maybe he’ll get picked up by these guys:
Tumblr media
This is my hopeful answer to nearly everything, if you haven’t figured that out yet.
Though more likely that Yamato’s gonna find a way to intervene. Got two weeks or more to find out.
Nami’s smack down of Ulti was awesome too. As was the combined attack from Big Mom and her homies. Ulti’s out of commission for now.

One Piece Chapter 1016 - Initial Thoughts
Tumblr media
It was Pfizer yesterday, but now today we are hooking a new chapter of One Piece into my veins
At least this one won't make my arm ache all day XD but small price for protection from a deadly virus
A lot of shit kicked off yesterday as attempts of crushing morale were undone, so let's see where it leads now
Spoilers for the Chapter, Support the Official Release as well
Zoro cover chapter, a little reminiscent of Nami and Shinobu's cover being blown earlier in the arc
The mainland of Wano are still partying, including Robin's Geisha teacher shredding it on the shamisen
So this is where Hitetsu and Toko are, it's cute and someone did have to look after Toko but Hitetsu you let Tama run off? Also kills the 'Hitetsu is King' theory, he doesn't have wings in this one
Oda nudging us hard with the 'THE FIRE FESTIVAL HONORS THE DEAD, KIDS'
A clear sky huh? You mean a sky where the full moon won't be obscured by clouds? Interesting...
CP0 again back to reviewing the battle like a board game
20 to 7 isn't as gross a disadvantage now, Agincourt was 30 to 3, you know what also was 30 to 3? Okehazama - where Oda Nobunaga's forces attacked the enemy camp during their celebrations
And you also have to add that they don't know about Tama turning the Smiles, we could see it as much different
Scouring Squirrel Girl Bao Huang's frog Mary views the wreckage of Momo's escape, but assumes that he died in the fall, she's quite happy to break the enemy's spirits with this though, strangely she didn't mention the status of the samurai
Over to Nami, Usopp and Tama we get confirmation of what we expected happened: Zeus latched onto the Tact rather than be eaten by Hera and has now been reborn
Nami has mixed views on a talking weapon, I mean talking weapons require maintenance, attention and reassurance, and whatever Zoro does with his swords. Plus she and Zeus haven't really buried the hatchet
The group have reached the stage right behind Unassuming Squirrel Smile Bao Huang, about to make an announcement
Ulti comes back though! Ringing Usopp's bell good and proper
Say what you will about Ulti but she is damn resilient, I can't forgive her for attacking Tama but she has proven intelligent and strategic, definitely an asset to Kaido, and while her thoughts regarding BM's turn is wrong she is allowed to be upset about her Pay-Pay being hurt
Nami goes for a swing and Zeus turns into a mace!? Looks like Nami has upgraded to bludgeon weapons too
The bludgeon doesn't work because of Ulti's durability, so Zeus recommends lightning - but doing so would hit Tama
So out comes Usopp with the clutch green star: Sargasso to split her from Tama
Zeus offers to be given a new name by Nami, and then immediately turns back on it when the option is 'Cotton' XD
Ulti dodges the Lightning, but Zeus while in control curves it so it hits Ulti: Auto-aim is a lil' OP there
Ulti looks officially KO'd now, though we thought that with BM considering that she did a combo laser, but it's right in front of Surprised Squirrel Girl Bao Huang, who is still broadcasting
She just announced that 2 of the Flying Six have been defeated, the morale has been inverted and only a worried Sasaki, Maria and Who's Who remain
Then Sneaky Sniper King Usopp entraps the Frightened Squirrel Girl Bao Huang, noticing that she can act like a projector for Tama
Small Sanji, Speed and Bepo cameos in preparation for Tama's announcement
But up to Onigashima's dome for the Father/Son rumble, and Kaido's already talking down at him and acting like Luffy and Momo are dead
I wonder if Yamato does mean to join Luffy's crew, the wording is 'sail the seas with Luffy', will have to see how it's translated. I'm still not sold on Yamato for Nakama either, he's cool yes but what does he add to the crew? Oda hasn't really shown us any qualities he could have outside of fighting and we kinda already have the sole fighter in Zoro
Kaido's back in hybrid form to remind Yamato that Wano is important for him - likely because of all the resources and the fact Poneglyphs were made her, and there must be teaching tools on how to read them
But yeah Yamato is just here to bide time, a conqueror's coating clash ends the chapter (though it's not certain if Yamato has Conqueror's)
Noooooo break...Oda why? We were just getting some pace going
This chapter did fly by, I felt like there should've been at least 3 or 4 more pages left. But maybe that was because it was all very good.
Beast Pirates still lying to themselves thinking Luffy and Momo are dead, but their numbers are dwindling resoundingly for CP0's entertainment. I wonder if they will get involved though since there is a disproportion between number of named heroes and number of named villains, they can't all turn out as 2 on 1 battles either.
Ulti is defeated, we think at least. I guess Nami will take the W even though it was 80% Big Mom with a minor assist from Usopp, but we got to showcase the new potential of Cotton, I mean Zeus. If Ulti can get up from all that though Page One may be able to get back up too. The other three do look pretty battered so either they're losing or it's fairly even.
Tama's announcement will turn the tides for any SMILE users, and with Ulti the only one who clued into it that bodes well for the alliance, and finally Yamato's off to bide some time for Luffy. That giant sword is in view again though, Oda what are your plans for this Chekov's Giant Fuck Off Sword?

Ghost At Sea
fandom: One Piece pairing: Sanji x Usopp word count: 1,138 notes: quick Halloween SanUso fic!
summary: Sanji and Usopp share a spooky midnight ship's watch together and receive a strange visitor.
ALSO@A03
Sailors were a notoriously superstitious folk. Sometimes the ships cooks were the worst of the lot in that regard. Growing up Sanji had heard his fair share of ghost stories- of siren spirits who called sailors to watery deaths, haunted ships crewed by the damned, skeletons of the drowned who would reach up and tickle your feet if you swam too deep, and no place garnered more supernatural tales than The Grand Line.
But who could blame men at sea for making up stories? After all, midnight on a night’s watch on a ship at sea could be a spooky time. The sounds of the boat creaking, the wind whipping the sails, the moon casting an eerie glow on a darkened sea… was enough to send a shiver up anyone’s spine.
Maybe that was one reason why Usopp made Sanji keep him company when he got stuck with the midnight watch on the Sunny and there was a full moon out. Only one of the reasons because Usopp and Sanji liked to spend their night watches together for another reason as well.
The moon that night kept being obscured by clouds passing over it and it was a foggy night- mist creeping over the water and shrouding the sides of the deck. The weather had gotten brisk after sunset, coming out of the range of an autumn isle, but Usopp already had Sanji’s jacket draped around his shoulders, and Sanji’s arms pulled tight around him were warm and comforting. The tea Sanji had brought out for them had already stopped steaming but Usopp could barely feel the wind the way they were huddled together on the grass lawn of the ship with a shared blanket wrapped over them.
The red light at the end of Sanji’s lit cigarette guided Usopp to the approximate location of the cook’s mouth in the darkness so he could press kisses against it. Under the blanket it was hard to tell where Usopp’s body ended and Sanji’s began but they both knew the clothes were in the way- Usopp’s hand fumbled against Sanji’s belt buckle, Sanji deepened the kiss as he traced patterns with his fingers against Usopp’s collarbone before working the strap of his overalls off one shoulder. Their breath was warm and urgent between their mouths by the time Usopp had arranged himself mostly on Sanji’s lap and Sanji had his arms around his waist.
Usopp had finished undoing Sanji’s belt when he abruptly froze and looked around. Sanji made a little grunt of complaint, canting his hips up needily.
“Why’d you stop?” Sanji whined.
“Shhh! I thought…” Usopp’s voice came back as an urgent whisper. “I just felt for a second like… Like we were being watched…”
Sanji just offered him a very self-satisfied smirk. “Oh really? How kinky.”
Usopp smacked him lightly on the shoulder. “Shut up! I’m serious! What if there’s someone out here?!”
“Everyone else went to sleep.” Sanji said.
“No, I mean…” Usopp gulped loudly. “Not one of the crew… Don’t you ever get that feeling out on the sea at night..? That creepy feeling on the back of your neck? Like there’s someone or something… watching you?”
There was a scratch of sound as Sanji ignited a match, suddenly illuminating the space between them with the fire’s light. He held it up past Usopp’s scared face and peered out at the rest of the deck. The dim glow of the flame sent shadows dancing in every direction Sanji’s hand moved but no creature or crewmate was in sight.
“See? There’s nothing out there…” Sanji gave a menacing chuckle suddenly. “Well… Nothing living, that is…”
Usopp made a keening yelp and gripped Sanji’s arm. “Don’t joke around!”
Sanji laughed off his reaction and in a shake of his hand swiped the match’s light out, pitching them into darkness again.
“Relax.” Sanji reassured him, pulling him a little closer. “I’m here, aren’t I? If there’s a ghost I’d protect you.” He planted a smooch on Usopp’s cheek.
Even in the dark, Sanji didn’t have to see the sniper’s face to know he was blushing.
“Hey, I didn’t say I was scared.” Usopp huffed, pouting. “I once defeated a ghost princess and her army of spirits. If anything I should be the one protecting you.”
“Oh yeah? I feel much safer already.” Sanji chuckled. “Just curious- if you’re not scared, why are you still gripping me so tightly?”
“That’s just because… it’s cold tonight!” Usopp defended, nuzzling his face against Sanji’s neck.
Laughing, Sanji hauled him in for another kiss, longer and deeper this time and Usopp settled into Sanji’s comforting body heat, letting the cook trail his hands down his back and rest against his thighs. When they finally had to pull away for oxygen Sanji suggested, “It’s almost time for Brook’s shift to start. How about you go get the bed warmed up for me. I’m going to have a last smoke before going in.”
“Okay. But don’t get scared without me.” Usopp sing-songed, getting up and tugging the blanket around his shoulders as he left.
Sanji stood and walked to the edge of the deck, waiting until he heard the door close behind Usopp before getting his cigarettes out and lighting one. He took a leisurely first drag, not bothering to turn around and acknowledge the apparition in the corner of the deck that was watching him.
“So you’re still sticking around him, huh?” he finally said, blowing smoke out of the corner of his mouth. “Merry?”
Klabautermann were one of the legends that had been passed around the different ships’ kitchens Sanji had worked in as a child. Franky had told him once about a Klabautermann he’d seen on the Going Merry. But Sanji himself had never seen it, until the day he’d kissed Usopp for the first time. Then he’d begun to notice it- especially on full moon nights, sometimes just out of the corner of his eye, sometimes just as a feeling on his spine- an intuition that he wasn’t alone.
He finally turned to face the spirit, its’ form just barely distinct from the fog in the faint moonlight- a little sprite with a body outlined by mist and generating a dim glow on its own.
“Don’t worry. I’ll look after him.” Sanji said solemnly. “I promise.”
He couldn’t see if the swirl of fog that made up where the ghost’s head would be had much of a face but he felt that it smiled. And in the next exhale of smoke from Sanji’s cigarette, the Klabautermann disappeared, as if it had just been an illusion of the shadows or Sanji’s eyes playing tricks on him. Sanji shook his head, sighing and throwing the last remnants of his cigarette into the ocean before heading inside to join Usopp in bed.
End.
