Super-super-fast sketches inspired by Timothy Zahn's books about one blue Grand Admiral and his two… friends? subordinates? protégé?
Thrawn and his two wards - Eli Vanto and Karyn Faro, this is something with something /// v ///
Apparently I've found an intriguing part of the Star Wars fandom. I liked the Thrawn trilogy. The cartoon Rebels and the Ahsoka series with his participation - I don’t know for sure yet (but the soundtrack - good).
In the concepts, I sketched out what Karyn Faro would look like if she were in the position of Admiral of the Eleventh Fleet of the Galactic Empire (at the end of the third book, the Grand Admiral promoted his “protégé” to the post of commander of the new fleet). And judging by the information about the imperial fleet on the wiki, he helped her rise from commodore to admiral.
I couldn’t find if admirals could have cloaks, but I really wanted to add it.

Krennic: Admiral Thrawn, why are you so quiet? You never say anything when you’re around us. Why is that?
Thrawn: Because I do not like any of you

This has essentially been a collection for a while, but now it's literally a collection!
My first little Tech story introduced an OC that resonated with a lot of people, so I wrote more—and more, and more.
This is a collection of interwoven stories where two geniuses fall in love, a sniper meets someone who sees right through him, a war hero finds that the Force wants him to be happy, and all the clones everywhere suddenly have their lives given back to them by someone who didn't even know they could.
If you read it, I hope you like it. 🧡

Imperial Tech
I am anticipating the 7th chapter of Aelfwynn’s Imperial Tech’s Observations and Analysis in the Galactic Empire. That alongside with Wwheeljack’s In The Name of Science is my inspiration to create and design my own Imperial!Tech who is calm, collected, stoic, businesslike, logically harsh, dutiful, confident, reasonable to an unnerving degree, sharp, persuasive, cold, practical, firm, determined, calculated, stern and brutally honest

where along the line did we stop seeing eye to eye ? / Galen to Orson ›› @impostre
Tumblr media
elbow sunk deep into the plush arm of the chair, chin unmoving from its perch upon his palm, as a single brow rose.   what’s this?     ❝  i was unaware we stopped.  ❞      dry as it was, the sentiment slipped easily off the tongue.   exasperation welled up from the sharp puncture made in its paper seal.   what worried galen now?   had that woman been meddling again, questioning the very last thing necessary and dragging his friend mentally with her?   likely.
Tumblr media
a measured, long drawn sigh accompanied his shift, forearms settling atop thighs as his blue gaze drilled into the other’s.     ❝  don’t we still share the same goals?  ❞     it hardly mattered that his were far beyond his friend’s.   they still fell along similar enough lines, and he would boost galen to the next when the moment arrived.   it was simply too soon to reveal the ultimate goal, galen’s compunctions requiring him to be eased into the concept.  unfortunately.  this would all be so much smoother otherwise.
the barest hint of a smile settled upon his lips.   if he could merely coax this worry out of the man…     ❝  peace doesn't mean there isn't so much else left to be done, galen.  ❞

What if the Imperials Were the Rebels?
So I was thinking about if Star Wars had a “What If?” series like Marvel does, and I starting thinking about how some characters part of the Empire would be the rebels in another universe. I found it pretty interesting (and Star Wars should really do a “What If?” series), so here are my own versions of what roles I think the Imperials would play if they were the ones fighting in the Rebellion (and Palpatine is still Palpatine). (I didn’t include Kallus because he did defect to be a rebel in canon, so in my AU he would possibly remain an Imperial, as this focuses more on people who never defected and stayed loyal in the canon universe.) I’ll discuss just a few characters below and my thoughts on them.
Feel free to let me know your own thoughts and ask about any Imperial characters I didn’t discuss!
Darth Vader: He would remain Anakin Skywalker in my AU, helping to lead the rebellion. Also being one of the Jedi part of the Rebellion, he helps to fight against the Inquisitors and lead the Rebellion towards the right path. The Empire had taken his master, padawan, son, and daughter away from him years ago and had assassinated the love of his life; he would do anything to bring them down. Is also one of the strongest pilot fighters the rebellion has.
Wilhuff Tarkin: I imagined Tarkin as like an individual similar to Commander Sato from Rebels and General Dodonna from the original trilogy/Rebels. He leads one of the main rebellion fleets and is highly respected as a commander. Was offered a position in the Empire but had immediately refused in its early days, not wishing to serve under this new regime. Has led many of the rebel attacks against the Empire with many success rates.
Thrawn: As a general and a pilot fighter in the rebellion, Thrawn leads one of the powerful squadrons in the rebellion. Often comes up with many of the attack strategies when preparing for an ambush, and is ready to command and attack when the Empire gets a level up on them. Often feuds with Hera Syndulla, one of the most powerful admirals and TIE fighter pilot in the Empire.
Orson Krennic: An engineer and a rebel commander, Krennic has helped design many of the weapons and starfighters the rebellion uses against the Empire. Has led many rebel fleet attacks while stationed in the base, helping to direct the fleet to their target.
Inquisitors: I viewed them as the Jedi of the Rebellion, as characters like Ezra, Kanan, Cal, Ahsoka, and other Jedi alive during this time would be the Inquisitors. They would be spread around in the galaxy, continuing to help keep up the fight against the Empire and protect young Force-sensitives from the hands of the Inquisitors. Have all met Anakin Skywalker and would follow him into battle any day.
Morgan Elsbeth: I felt like thinking about her and how she would potentially fit into this AU, as she did basically design those TIE fighters that Thrawn adores so much while she worked inside the Empire, as seen in Tales of the Empire. Morgan would be an engineer like Krennic, focusing her designs primarily on the starfighters for the rebellion to help them succeed. Has worked with Thrawn and designed the fighters for his squadron, watching the fight from the ground. The Republic was responsible for the execution of her native people, and now that it had become the tyrannical Empire, her only wish was to destroy it.
Edmon Rampart: I based this off some of the theories I would read about Rampart potentially becoming like Kallus and turning around to become a rebel, but we saw where that went lol. I see Rampart as one of the rebels part of the Alliance who had escaped the Empire after being caught by Hera Syndulla, conveying a lot of important information to the rebellion while remaining in an Imperial position. He has helped lead many rebel attacks and add successful strategies in the fight.
Royce Hemlock: You may be thinking, how does someone like Hemlock become a rebel? When I was thinking about this AU based off his skills and use to the Empire, I thought of him as being a lead medical doctor in the rebellion and partly an engineer, using his skills for healing and designing useful assets and weapons for the rebellion to take advantage of. Had not gotten expelled from the Republic Science Corps in this AU, but was forcefully kept in a secret facility for Palpatine’s wants after the fall of the Republic, and managed to escape. Not much of a direct fighter but knows how to handle a blaster, would rather stick to the base instead of being up with the pilots, but would do anything to make sure the Empire meets its demise.
Eli Vanto: A commander of another rebel fleet, and Thrawn’s partner in many of the rebel attacks and strategy meetings, Eli is respected for being the one to find out many of the Empire’s secrets through his spies scattered around the galaxy and his own aspirations to perform deep research into the Empire’s hidden goals. Used to only be a minor admiral in the rebellion until Thrawn took note of his skills and Tarkin found him worthy of promotion to do more for the rebellion’s military.
let me know your thoughts and hopefully you found this interesting!

AU ask: the Rogue One crew in a doomed (or not) nineteenth-century Arctic exploration story...
oh my god???? YOUR MIND! no joke, can someone write this, please?
Bodhi as the scientist kicking the whole thing off (Bodhi must always be The Catalyst this is a rule)
Jyn as a geologist - her parents set heaven and hell in motion to send her to university. Geology was her mother's special interest, too, and they used to spend a lot of time together with Jyn's books.
Also, her father was a scientist and the one to originally plan this mission. He went to Lord Krennic (House of Lords) for government funding, the mission got infinitely more dangerous because they added some kind of land claim for the Crown to it.
Bodhi fell ill at the last moment - he was Galen's best student and supposed to go on the expedition - and Galen's crew disappeared into the Arctic, never to be seen again.
Bodhi and Jyn are half wanting to complete his work, half trying to find out what happened to him
Cassian as the captain, obviously. He resents this whole idea from the get-go, but he needs the money and he secretly thinks these green idiots need all the help they can get. Also, this could prove that Lord Krennic and Lord Tarkin are corrupt and sent Galen Erso to his death to further their own means, and Cpt. Andor may or may not be part of a group who has been trying to prove this and other machinations like it for probably a decade...
Melshi as first mate, Chirrut as one of the sailors (I feel strongly about this), Baze as the ship's cook, Kay as the ship physician (we're going a little Master and Commander on this now)
Cassian and Co. are initially very apprehensive about Jyn and Bodhi - a bourgeoise young lady and a university student who never goes outside, they won't last the week! - but it turns out that - Jyn spent a lot of time after her father's disappearance with "uncle" Saw, a US Navy captain always sailing *dangerously* close to, uh, piracy - Bodhi is trying his best and his best is actually very helpful - he also turns out to be a very talented navigator in his own right
things get *grim*. I could never do this fic justice because I know nothing about ships, geography, the navy, or the Arctic, but there must be storms on the high seas, the ship getting stuck in the ice, some undercurrent of political intrigue (please note here that I have no idea when to set this and therefore can't give examples. Maybe mid- to late 1800s. I feel strongly about it NOT being the 1830s simply because that fashion is Not It for this scenario)
several crew members have to die tbh, maybe main crew members
at least one of the extended crew was paid off by Krennic, actively trying to sabotage the mission (so they don't find out what happened to Galen)
at some point, I want them to be Doomed and all the long-time sailors completely giving in to their fate, only to have Science and Modern Thinking by Jyn and Bodhi save the day (it's a very old trope but it's period-appropriate!)

Fun facts about the first draft of Rogue One that haunt me
1) Jyn was a rebel commander with the callsign Rogue Leader (or Rogue One). This was where the film's title came from, since in this draft the final mission to Scarif was supported by the Rebel Alliance instead of being a "rogue one".
Tumblr media
2) Cassian was an Imperial double agent working for Krennic and feeding the Empire all of Jyn's movements before having a change of heart after seeing a genocide that he was basically responsible for. Cassian also wasn't his name in this draft (it was probably Willix Cree).
3) The film opened with a mission to Eadu to rescue Galen/find out what he'd been building (which became the second act of the final film). In this first draft, the Rebel Alliance weren't responsible for the bombs that killed Galen - Saw Gerrera was.
4) Writer Gary Whitta had to ask John Knoll (writer of the film's original pitch and treatment) if K2SO's description as a black protocol droid meant he was painted black or "Sam Jackson Black".
5) Jyn and (not) Cassian didn't die on Scarif - they escaped on Admiral Raddus's ship, and beamed the plans ship to ship to Princess Leia. Raddus's ship was then blasted into little pieces by the empire, but Jyn and Cassian survived in an escape pod.
6) The name Scarif came from a Starbucks barista's misspelling of director Gareth Edwards's name. (He said "it's Gareth" and got a cup that said Scaref)
7) Jyn and Cassian possibly got married at the end of the film (they had "much more" of a romantic subplot, but the whole "first draft ended in a wedding" thing was an off-handed remark from Chris Weitz, who wrote the drafts after Whitta, and didn't specify whose wedding it was)
8) some ideas that were thrown around but never made it into a draft were Jyn's mother being a Jedi who'd escaped Order 66, Jyn having to barter with a Hutt on its barge for information and Eadu having a native species of aliens called Eaduites who were being poisoned by industrial runoff from the Weapons Factory.
Anyway I did a full breakdown of this draft and the following Chris Weitz drafts for the pod, give it a listen I suck at promo I just need more people to know there was a draft of this movie where Jyn had to look Cassian in the eye and be like "yo you're personally responsible for the destruction of that moon and the genocide of its people and almost killed me in the process" and he had to be like "yeah my bad."
(If you're wondering why Bodhi, Chirrut and Baze aren't mentioned, they weren't in this draft)

AU: Orson Krennic survives the Battle of Scarif, and barters his way across the universe. Dispensing with his usual flair of white cape and impeccable grooming, he is able to disguise himself with impressively grey facial hair. Krennic earns his keep on scavenger ships until he arrives at a forest moon of an Outer Rim planet.
His survival skills are subpar. But after several months of scraping and learning, he is able to ek out shelter and food. Hunting and fishing are a learning curve. His understanding of cartography helps.
Keeping to himself, Krennic particularly enjoys exploring the swampy areas of his new home and is learning to trap small animals. He has no knowledge of the destruction of the Death Star and doesn’t have the self awareness to reflect on his actions: the destruction of Jehda, the death of Galen Erso. Krennic dreams of Tarkin and regrets not killing him after his creation was taken from his command.
The local people call him “The Marsh King”

Writing Patterns
Birthday Edition
Thank you to @madamairlock and @thevulcanbobdylan for tagging me! For the past four years, I've tried to post some of my writing or something related to my writing on my birthday, but I've been having a hard time of late and haven't really written in a while. Though, I do keep trying to at least think about ideas and jot down some notes if anything strikes me, I didn't really have anything close to ready to post this year, so I suppose this is a decent stand in.
Rules: List the first line of your last 10 (posted) fics and see if there's a pattern!
Rainbow in the Dark (Stranger Things, T) The buzz of the win was starting to wear off and Chrissy anxiously hurried to where Eddie had told her to meet him after the game.
No Gods, No Masters (Mad Max Series (Movies), T) Capable and the War Boy watched each other in silence for a while in the fading light, her thumb absently running over the scars on his lips.
This is a Very Old Ship (Battlestar Galactica (2003), G) This is a very old ship.
Through All That Masquerade (Battlestar Galactica (2003), T) Secretary Laura Roslin swept down the buzzing corridors of the battlestar Galactica escorted by Mr. Doral on their way to meet with the commanding officer.
The Heart Once Bled (Star Wars: Jedi: Fallen Order, G) Cere wasn’t altogether certain how Cal and BD-1 had recovered Trilla’s lightsaber during the chaos and confusion of her confrontation with the dark shadow who had haunted her waking and dreaming for the past five years and their subsequent escape.
Run Between the Shadows (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, T) The death trooper fired immediately upon Krennic’s order and Lyra squeezed the trigger of her own blaster, dropping her left shoulder down and back, flattening into the line made by her right arm outstretched to aim at the bastard who was tearing apart her family.
Last Call (TMNT (2007), G) Donatello leaned on his keyboard, his head in his hand.
Resolved (The Walking Dead, G) Beth Greene didn’t want to wake up.
A Radiance That Travels (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, T) Jyn leaned heavily on Cassian as they hobbled over the rocky terrain through the downpour.
His Lady's Favor (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, T) The briefing had gone far better than General Antoc Merrick had hoped.
Tagging: @brynnmclean, @callioope, @spectral-musette, @miabicicletta, @weshallflyaway, @littlelindentree, @cryscal, and @narilwrites, if it sounds like fun and you want to. No pressure :)
