Chinese Mythology Stories (1983) 中國神話故事-西遊記
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Director: Chen Lie Screenwriter: Yeung Wai-Man Starrring: Jin Chao-Chun / Chang Fu-Chien / Sun Jia-Lin / Yang Hsiung / Barry Chan / Wu Xue-Fen / Zeng Ya-Jun / Yeung Wai-Man / Wang De-Zhi / Chiang Kuang-Chao / Ko Hsiao-Pao Genre: Fantasy Country: Taiwan Language: Mandarin Date: 1983-05-31 Number of episodes: N/A Also known as: 中国神话故事 Type: Retelling
Summary:
Several folk legends from different dynasties are actually gathered together. Nezha, Jigong, Door God, Xu Xian, Bai Suzhen... Could it be that these characters are going to gather together to perform some kind of comedy?! Don't make blind guesses! They came together just to show some kind of "propaganda effect"; to promote the upcoming "Chinese Mythology Story"; these legendary characters will all bring out a touching Chinese mythology story. "Chinese Mythical Stories" is a unit theater that CTV will open at 1:00 pm on weekends. Currently, the recording of three unit stories of "Nezha", "Ji Gong" and "The Legend of White Snake" has been completed. It is scheduled to start on May 28 or Saturday. Launched on the 4th. Wang Weijiang went from the front to the back, and co-produced the "Chinese Mythology" unit theater with Wei Xin to realize an ideal, that is, to introduce various folk beliefs through the moving myths and stories circulated in our country's long history of thousands of years. In the creation of the protagonist's character, special emphasis is placed on his method of becoming an immortal and attaining enlightenment - inner cultivation and saving people and saving the world, in order to remind the audience that faith should not be turned into superstition. Such a theme has considerable social and educational significance. Wang Weijiang said that "Chinese Mythical Stories" is a social and educational program produced in the form of drama. It is quite difficult for the social education style and drama type to deeply move people's hearts; because this is equivalent to using the strengths of drama - the drama of twists and turns to make up for the shortcomings of social education - the rigid boring feeling; the "Chinese mythology story" The production is exploring such a new route. If successful, it will be a major breakthrough for TV programs. Judging from the production method of "Chinese Myth Stories", this "new line" that breaks the boundaries between drama and social education has great potential and great potential. The legendary mythical story, through DPE's latest TV effects machine, makes the picture show magical special effects, how fascinating it will be! Since it is a myth, it can perform special effects, and the scenes can be as magical and varied as possible.

Hallmark Channel Greenlights ‘Ride’; Primetime Drama Series Follows Rodeo Dynasty
Set to premiere in 2023, Ride is described as a multigenerational family drama that follows the lives of the Murrays as they struggle to keep their beloved ranch afloat. Here’s the logline: “After a tragic loss, each character embarks on an empowering journey of transformation and self-discovery while also uncovering a twisted web of secrets, threatening to tear the family and their small Colorado town apart at the seams. Emotions run high and clashes are common in the complicated Murray clan, but they are a tight-knit group who don’t give up easily. And the three strong women of the family – widowed rodeo queen Missy, matriarch Isabel, and former teen run-away Valeria – resolve to stand strong against all challenges and save their land, come what may.”
Production on Ride is set to begin this summer in Calgary, Alberta in Canada. It’s co-produced by Endeavor-backed Blink49 Studios and Seven24 Films, in partnership with Bell Media for CTV Drama Channel in Canada. The series is based on an original script by husband and wife writing team Rebecca Boss & Chris Masi (Our Kind of People), who along with Sherri Cooper-Landsman (Beauty and the Beast, Brothers and Sisters) are show runners and executive producers.
“As we continue to grow our slate of heartfelt and thought-provoking series, we are delighted to get to work with a creative team behind some of our favorite shows, including our talented and creative showrunners, the incredible producing team at Blink49 and award-winning executive producer Greg Gugliotta, Elana Barry and Josh Adler,” said Lisa Hamilton Daly, Executive Vice President, Development, Crown Media Family Networks.
“We were immediately hooked by the story of the resilient Murray women,” added Laurie Ferneau, Senior Vice President, Development, Crown Media Family Networks. “We couldn’t be more excited to work with the incredible team at Blink49 to bring their engrossing story to viewers.”

'She made history': Teen boxer from Eskasoni First Nation becoming a contender in the ring
At a young age, 15-year-old A'Leah Young of Eskasoni First Nation, N.S., is a contender in the boxing ring.
"It was really intimidating at first,” Young said. “It's intimidating for a lot of women, that's why a lot of women don't join."
Young discovered the sport a couple of years ago when she met Barry Bernard, the head coach at Red Tribe Boxing Club in her home community.
"He was like, 'Come Monday.' And I was like, 'OK.' So I came Monday, and I just never stopped coming,” Young recalled.
Fast-forward to late June when Young was in the headline fight in a card at Sydney's Centre 200.
To fight in the main bout at the biggest entertainment facility on Cape Breton Island was a big deal for a boxer not yet old enough to get her driver's license.
"I was really nervous,” Young said. "To be the first Mi'kmaq female in Cape Breton to be on a main event, I feel really honoured."
Among the many others proud of her accomplishments is coach Bernard.
"Although she lost by split (decision), she yelled out because she knew she made history,” Bernard said. “We made history. She made history."
Bernard said when he started the Red Tribe Boxing Club, one of his goals was to unearth a few diamonds in the rough like Young from Indigenous communities across eastern Nova Scotia.
"A'Leah is very special,” Bernard said. “She's very gifted, she's kind, she's humble, very respectful. She loves boxing, and the more A'Leah’s we have in the club, the community's going to get much better."
Another big highlight came last week, when Young attended the North American Indigenous Games in Halifax
Though she didn't compete, she was inspired by the athletes she met and knows the sport has given her a lot already.
"I've for sure grown,” Young said. “I've become more respectful to others. I've learned sportsmanship and discipline and a lot of other things from boxing."
She also hopes to inspire other Indigenous girls to give boxing a try.
"I hope I have many more fights to come,” Young said.

Memorial playground’s 25th anniversary goes ahead in Cape Breton despite severe rainfall
Saturday marked the 25th anniversary celebration of a playground in Dominion, N.S., that honours the memory of a little girl.
The weather forced the festivities for the Marcia Fiolek Memorial Playground to be moved inside, but that didn't stop a big crowd from gathering at the Branch 78 Royal Canadian Legion just up the road in the seaside community.
"The crowd is remarkable. This is the little town that could, I'll tell you,” said Janine Fiolek, Marcia Fiolek’s mother.
Fiolek’s daughter dreamed up the idea for a community playground back in the 1990s and started fundraising for it by selling lollipops around her community.
Marcia Fiolek died of leukemia in 1996 at age 10.
The playground she had envisioned opened two years later in July 1998.
Now, it's been a quarter century since the facility first opened to the public.
"It's bittersweet, I think,” Janine Fiolek said. “I wish she was here, and we really, really miss her, but we're really glad to see so many kids get to enjoy what she started."
It's also been a year since another big milestone for the Marcia Fiolek Memorial Playground.
In June 2022, more than $100,000 in accessible upgrades were completed.
Marcia's father Barrie Fiolek said that's another testament to community support, and the work done by volunteers on the playground's committee.
"For 25 years, the committee has been growing and it just keeps the whole playground modernizing every year -- so we keep on adding to it and adding to it,” he said.
Recently, the Fioleks say there has been somewhat of a problem with vandalism at the facility but that public awareness and playground users keeping an eye out for trouble seems to have nipped the issue in the bud for now.
"We may have to look into video surveillance, but we'll see,” Janine Fiolek said.
Back at Saturday’s celebrations, where the Turnbull Brothers of “Canada's Got Talent” fame played a few tunes, the Fioleks figured the turnout despite the rain and last-minute venue change said a lot about their daughter's legacy.
"How much they love the playground and how much they love Marcia, too,” Janine Fiolek said. “It just warms my heart, and it's very emotional but it warms my heart to think so many people still remember her and are here today for her."

I’m not seeing much information or outrage about Olando Brown (outside of social media), a Black Canadian man who apparently was killed by Barrie Police Officers who tasered him to death.
These are the only articles I could find, none of which name him or make it explicitly clear that a black man was killed by the police:
SIU investigating after man dies following arrest by Barrie police
Ontario man dead in police custody after Tasering
Friends of Barrie man who died after being Tasered on Friday shocked, upset
This is FUCKED UP:
Barrie police say the arrest took place at around 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Police have not confirmed the exact location of the ordeal.
They say the man was then taken to the Barrie Police station for processing where he went into “medical distress.” Paramedics provided first-aid at the station and transported him to Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre where he later died.
Family and friends have identified him as 32-year-old Olando Brown.
A witness who captured video of the altercation on his cell phone later posted it on social media. The video has been viewed thousands of times.
The video appears to show the officers struggle with Brown while trying to arrest him near some trees between two buildings.
Throughout the video, the sound of a Taser being deployed could be heard before Brown is brought to the ground. An officer shouts “stop resisting” and “put your hands behind your back” while the others forcibly hold him on the ground.
Lance Freeman, who recorded the video, told CTV News Barrie that he watched the officers approach Brown while he was asleep near a bush.
“They asked him to see his ID and before he even had a chance to pull his ID out, the one guy just kicked him and the other started chasing him,” Freeman said.
He said he pulled out his cellphone when he saw one of the officers kick Brown “right in the temple.”
“Everybody was telling the cops to stop, that they were using force,” he said. “How do you expect someone to sit still when you’re Tasering him?”
Freeman claims he stopped recording when one of the officers pointed at him and said he was "next.”
Continued:
Barbara South, Brown’s aunt, said her nephew was a generous and loving person who has “never been aggressive.”
“Yes he goes off the track a little bit… nobody’s perfect, but he doesn’t have a mean bone in his body,” she said.
South believes Brown would have never died after his arrest if he was white.
“They de-escalate and they find ways to get to calm a situation without any violence when the person is white. But when you’re black, your life has no value,” she said.
“My nephew was murdered… There’s no doubt about that.”
The mother of the victim’s 11-year-old child told CTV News Barrie that she’s beside herself with grief.
“She’s left without her dad,” Donna Dubois said via phone. “How do I explain this to her? How is she going to think that police officers are safe when this is what they did to her dad?”
Dubois said Brown was a “fantastic dad” who was always willing to help a friend in need. She said she believes Brown had “run-ins” with the law and had a warrant out for his arrest but intended on turning himself in.
“He did not deserve this whatsoever, not whatsoever,” she said. “I’m completely devastated I couldn’t even watch the video. I’m disgusted.”
BLACK LIVES MATTER.

Originally starting in France, yellow vest protests have moved to Canada. Many were held Saturday across the country criticizing the tax and immigration policies of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his government.
Protests spurred on by carbon taxes, pipelines
In the Maritimes, a small local group of demonstrators gathered in front of Halifax’s City Hall criticizing a laundry list of issues including Trudeau’s carbon tax.
“I have never met even one Canadian that understands how a carbon tax is going to reduce carbon emissions,” protester James Hoskins told CTV Atlantic. Another demonstrator, Barry Ahern, criticized Trudeau’s summer grant program which he called “oppression of Canadians by our own people.”
In Calgary, a large rally began outside the downtown Kerby Centre, with protester Craig Chandler telling CTV Calgary that people were upset over pipelines and Trudeau’s leadership in general.

In 2019, I made a goal to start putting my content skills to better use. Giving a home to the photos that overload my phone and getting my crazy thoughts out of my head. ( the thoughts include swear words. Consider this your WARNING! Sorry Mum!)
For those that don’t know me, I am Jennifa, a thirtyish gypsy who recently moved to from Ontario to Halifax, Nova Scotia. My partner got his dream job, so we decided to move our two children across the country on the pursuit of happiness and Cannabis.
I have the privilege of having too much time on my hands, having quit my job to stay home with my babies. This has given me the opportunity to explore my new city, talk to  random strangers and see cool shit.
9 THINGS THAT HAVE STOOD OUT TO SOME RANDOM GIRL FROM ONTARIO.
9 – EVERYTHING IS DIFFERENT YET THE SAME-
I feel like I did TONS of research, on what it takes to move 4 people from point A to point B. I took into consideration normal things, I believed would come in handy. From finding a new home, registering my kid in school, Insurance, ETC. But nothing will ever prepare you, for feeling like a complete moron, getting lost 24/7 and causing a lot of scenes.
For the record, I would like to say I am medium in the planning and organizing department. I really, really try, but sometimes I fall short in this department of being an adult.
So, I may have overlooked a few things in the move….Such as the first day of school. For the record no one directly told me the date . And I know you are thinking, “isn’t that important Information”?! Well it is, but I assumed it would be the same. The day after labour day, Kids across the country go to school.
We showed up at school bright and early, on time . For a tiny second, I was proud of us… WRONG DAY. A teacher in the parking lot; told us, school in fact started the next day. The Wednesday after the LABOUR DAY!
This moment will never be forgotten. As much as you can plan every detail of life, you can miss somethings. We need to have space in our life for these moments. We need to laugh at the fuck up and move on. Lesson learned. TRIPLE CHECK DATES. WRITE THAT SHIT DOWN. BE A GOOD GROWN-UP!
The Maritimes is a very distinct place in Canada. They have a different landscape, culture, weather, attitude. When we left Ontario, I didn’t realize we were leaving a huge part of what we were comfortable doing. Our brains in “autopilot”.
I can now say, things have settled down and I am in the driver seat ready for what is next.  Change is good, we just need to be open and I don’t get lost as much.
8-LAND OF THE DOUBLE DOUBLE-
Tim Horton, must have been from Nova Scotia.
I think all Canadians love the coffee of our homeland. Tim’s is even MORE loved here. The Scotians, have additional language for their coffees. This is something, I have not even experienced in Orillia, ON, (which I thought was the Tim Horton Capital)
So I think, we all know a DOUBLE, DOUBLE and TRIPLE, TRIPLE…
HAVE YOU HEARD of the DOUBLE SINGLE?
Two cream, one sugar. WORD…
7-DONAIR-
Nova scotia loves donair. FYI: Donair is a meat. You can find in a wrap, on a plate,  pizza, or egg roll. I have even seen on a DONAIR cupcake on TV. (I am just really into the sauce. It comes in a CUP!
DONAIR SAUCE goes with the meat. It’s soooo fucking good. Dipping pizza in it….is LIFE CHANGING.
I am currently on a pizza jurney, ordering pizza from a new shop each chance I get. There are a TON of pizza shops. All privately owned and amazing!!!! I would not even eat dominos again, if you paid for it.
6- PEOPLE ARE ACTUALLY NICE-
Soo, what the FUCK is your problem ONTARIO?!  Just kidding 😆
Get this, random people will smile and say hello to you in the streets, elevator and stores. EVEN if they don’t know YOU!!!! Crazy right!?
I can sense that people genuinely care about each here, they are nice, just because. There is no reason, no motive. They are just KIND. It’s a simple fact that the entire province, loves the Pittsburgh Penguins, only because Mr. Crosby is the CAPTAIN.
I guess I feel the warmth of the people, because I am loner. You know those weird people that talk to you for no reason in public. And you think…whhhyyyy me?! Well, I have become that annoying person…
Lucky for me, people enjoy having random conversations about nothing all the time. They will even start one with me out of nowhere, it does help my baby is the cutest ever.People have been so kind to me,
I make friends all the time. Especially when I take the bus; simple smiles and conversations. It is nice to be acknowledged by someone. It can turn a really annoying long bus ride with an out of control toddler, into bearable.
Without going too deep, maybe you have felt this if you have lost someone. When I talk to a Senior; that would’ve been my grandparents age. I feel them with me. That connection may seem crazy, but it helps with being homesick in a weird way.
So, talk to weird-o’s, like me and the 90-year-old at the grocery store, because you should. WHY NOT? Are you to cool to to talk about nothing?
5-WEATHER-
I have become an avid weather watcher these days. The weather predictions here are very accurate for the most part, thank you CTV Atlantic. When they say it’s going to rain like crazy… it rains HARD and at almost the exact time they say it will. You actually need to purchase proper equipment to handle the weather here. Like umbrellas and raincoats!
As for the winter, I was warned from everyone about it. WELL , I am still waiting for the bad shit to arrive. I mean it is wintery but nowhere near as bad as I thought, (I have most likely cursed myself). Or being from the Snow belt of Ontario has really prepared me to face CANADIAN WINTERS.
I have a feeling this bad winter weather curse, is really a trick to keep the others out.  Ssshhh don’t tell anyone.  Apparently, it is longer, then Ontario’s but we will see, it is March.
New Brunswick, different story. Go there for the SNOW! And a true CANADIAN winter if you DARE.
4-CULTURE!!!!!-
NO offence, Barrie, but culture does not really exist here.  I mean, you try. However, you will always be to me, the white trash capital of Ontario. I can say this, because I am from HERE. I escaped, but Barrie has shaped me into the white trash gypsy I am today. And for the record, in my new chapter, I say I am from, North of TORONTO.  It’s weird because a lot of people know, Barrie too well. So it will never leave me.
Now back to CULTURE, it’s very beautiful to see all different types of people, cultures living in one place. I love it. I love to people watch (not stare), and I truly believe our differences can really bring us closer.
My son has more knowledge of other cultures than I ever did, till maybe University (I was dumb). At almost 8 years old. My son has a classroom of friends that speak languages, other than English. The children learn and grow together and share about their faiths and cultures. My son knows, that some people believe in Allah, as their god. And some families speak Arabic at home, or Mandarin.
FACT: Our friend just celebrated the Lunar New year. The school shared the importance removing “Chinese” from the phrase. This is because in fact many Asian cultures celebrated this holiday, not just CHINA. DUH!
mind blown…Barrie Jennifa says THANK YOU!!!!!
3-CANADA’S WORST DRIVERS LIVE HERE-
They really do, me included. A lot of the drivers  make me look good on a regular basis. I tend to naturally drive like a 98 year old  with road rage. The things I have seen, keep it real and hands are always at ten and two.
The roundabouts are interesting for me, considering Park Place is a mini roundabout; and my only first hand experience. I have had to learn how these “real” roundabouts go. I believe the best way to approach them, is the “follower” approach and copy the car directly beside you .( if you can) And yell OH FUCK , WHILE you do it. You should be fine.
Highways: the exit lanes are the same as the entrance lanes here…and NO lights , it’s dark. 😒
It seems for the most part, people do what they want, when they want while driving motorized vehicles. SO move bitch, get out the WAY!
2- CANADA IS BEAUTIFUL-
Duhh, right… I honestly had not seen the true beauty of Canada, until recently. I mean Ontario, is pretty medium when you compare it, to what’s on either side if the coast. Before this past summer I had never made it past the Eastern Townships in Quebec.  FUN FACT: The first time I ever visited the East coast, was when I moved my family here in August.
The east coast is stunning, I try and capture the landscape, my phone can’t even do it justice. The historical and environmental views can take your breath away. Literally, its’ windy as fuck here.
I love this amazing country even more, I feel prouder to be Canadian in a non-weird cheesy way. Having had the opportunity to see and show my children the other provinces that make up our great country. New Brunswick, PEI, I see you other beautiful places. (NFND to come)
Grade 9 geography comes to life, it’s magical. I encourage ALL CANADIANS to travel within our country;  at one point in your life. You will not be disappointed.
1-CALL YOUR MUM , DAD, FRIEND……FIRST!!! –
Don’t wait for them to call or message because it’s not your turn or whatever bullshit you feed yourself.
I did it too, trust me. I actually don’t really like talking on the phone, it can be annoying. Hearing someone’s voice you love, is something very special.  It has taken me a move across the country, to stop being an asshole and pick up the dang phone from time to time
When you think of someone you love, I believe, it is the universe telling that you are lucky enough to have these amazing people in your life. Like your Best friend or Mum. There are so many ways to connect but we are lazy or just waiting for the other person to do it, but they are waiting for YOU!
An unexpected text or phone call from an old friend is a magical thing. It makes your heart smile and can change your day or even week. We live at a time with greatest ability to connect to the people we love, however, many of us feel lonely.  Stop being an asshole and call your mum, I know she would love to hear your voice.
Events happen in our journeys at different time for different reasons. I am very grateful for where my journey has taken me and looking forward to what is next.
I am accepting new friend applications- HOLLA At your girl – MUST LIVE IN NOVA-
.the nova way. In 2019, I made a goal to start putting my content skills to better use. Giving a home to the photos that overload my phone and getting my crazy thoughts out of my head.
