OPINIÃO DO BLOG:

Imagine Grace surviving and then after the calm she casually says “Huh. I’m alive. Well, that’s a surprise. That wasn’t supposed to happen at all.”
And then Dani’s kind of nodding along, not paying attention, just tired, glad it’s over, then Grace’s word’s sink in. her head whips towards Grace so fast Sarah is cringing. “YOU WEREN’T SUPPOSED TO WHAT?!”

Yay! Can I have some fluff HCs about Grace x Dani?
Grace finds cooking a bit of a chore, so every morning, Dani wakes her up with breakfast in bed. She also packs her cute lunches and makes her a special dinner each night.
Sometimes Dani gets really anxious at night after everything that happened, so Grace has set up a little night light on her side of the bed, so that she can turn it on if she panics. She also leaves her a little book to read.
Dani is a passionate reader, so quite often, Dani and Grace will curl up on the sofa together with a blanket, whilst Dani reads and Grace runs her fingers through her hair.
They almost always fall asleep with Grace being the big spoon, but now and then, Dani will return the favour.
Dani desperately wants to adopt a dog but Grace is much more of a cat person. In the end, Grace gives in (as she often does when it comes to Dani) and they adopt an adorable mixed breed from a shelter.

Terminator: Dark Fate (2019)
Terminator: Dark Fate (2019)
Tumblr media

Thoughts of the Droid: Terminator: Dark Fate (2019)
Hello, people of Tumblr! How was your week? As always, I hope very well. People, this time I bring to you all my review and opinions about the new installment of the T-800 franchise: Terminator: Dark Fate. A film that has raised some controversy.
And it is not for less, since Terminator is one of the most beloved sagas within science fiction. Curiously, even after 35 years, the general public and especially fans of the saga, only love the first two deliveries; the remaining four, including Dark Fate, have them in very low esteem. Being honest with you, almost a week after its release, it was very frequent to see my YouTube recommendations critical of this movie, all of them very destructive, stating that Dark Fate was the worst film in the Terminator saga. Well, your favorite friend and reviewer Rankakiu has already seen that movie. Is it really a disaster? Or are we facing a misunderstood masterpiece? Well, let's go to the review to find out.
WARNING: NOT SPOILER FREE. Read at your own risk
Starting with the review, what did I think of the movie? Short answer: it is a passable movie and you can have a fun time watching it. But nothing else. Now let's go into details.
Characters: Without a doubt it is very pleasant to have back actor Arnold Schwarzenegger and actress Linda Hamilton playing their iconic roles of the T-800 and Sarah Connor, respectively. And although Hamilton had a long time not to return to her character, that does not affect at all, since she has shown not only her acting quality by reincarnating a warrior woman like Sarah Connor, but also demonstrates that she was born for that role. At no time in the movie did Hamilton's performance seem indifferent, but quite the opposite, since at all times she felt like Sarah Connor. With a reborn resentment towards machines and a more experienced soldier, but still Sarah Connor despite everything.
The same goes for the good Arnold Schwarzenegger, although in his case it is already easier for him to play the T-800 again, since he has participated in almost all the films. Even with that, like Hamilton, Schwarzenegger was born for the role of the 101 model of Cyberdine systems. Apart from the above, the film is responsible for humanizing the T-800 and thereby answering the question of whether a machine can develop attachment and affection towards humans.
Certainly previous films like Terminator 2: Judgment Day and Terminator: Genysis had already answered that question; however, in Terminator: Dark Fate, it gives another approach, differentiating itself from the aforementioned films and I liked that a lot. Both actors make the film much more accessible to watch and make the experience much more pleasing to me.
On the other characters, the truth be told, they are not (that) badly written. Of course, I feel they need that little spark called charisma to become characters that were much more memorable. One of the most rescued new characters, in my very personal opinion, is the character of Grace, played by actress Mackenzie Davis, who, in my opinion, did a good job of playing a warrior woman, enhanced with cyber technology, turning it into a kind of cyborg. You could say that his role represents a bit what was the character of Kyle Reese from the first Terminator movie, being a soldier with the mission to protect Dani Ramos. Something also to highlight, are the moments of action of the character, where we can see her fight hand in hand with a Terminator, being almost at the same level.
Grace clearly possesses reflexes, speed and strength well above a common human; However, this power can only be used in a short time and requires a special serum to keep her cyborg body functioning properly. That little detail pleased me a lot, since you have a lethal soldier, but not with too much exaggerated power, and besides, these restrictions of power are well founded within the story. While Grace doesn't leave the conventional clichés of being a strong woman and a war-hardened soldier, at least Davis's interpretation pleased me quite a bit, building a pretty decent character. If they really gave her a better-worked script, I'm sure Davis can surprise us.
On the other hand, we have actress Natalia Reyes, playing the character of Daniella "Dani" Ramos. Interestingly, in this character we see a kind of amalgam, a story that combines the situations experienced by the characters of Sarah Connor and John Connor. Dani's life, so normal and common, suddenly changes radically and without the possibility of returning to her previous way of life, when an artificial intelligence sends a machine to exterminate her (representing Sarah from Terminator). As soon as she knows the destiny that awaits her, she has no choice but to fight and accept her destiny as a protector and leader of humanity against the machines (adopting the role of the various incarnations of John Connor).
In my opinion she is a decent character and some may consider that her evolution as a character happens too quickly, but in my case, I think that is justified, since Dani Ramos is in the situation that she has to mature quickly and become a warrior, or else her death will be insured. If you ask me, Natalia did a good job, but unfortunately her character has a somewhat annoying approach, being more the fault of the script than anything else.
Of course, I cannot finish this point without mentioning the antagonist: the Terminator Rev-9, a model created by artificial intelligence called "Legion", which has created one of the most advanced terminator models ever seen. It has similar properties to other terminators seen above, particularly the T-1000 and the T-X (Terminatrix), only here it proves to be much more advanced than the mentioned models.
If there is something that has characterized the Terminator franchise, it is without a doubt, the creativity that they put on the various models, each with amazing capabilities that more than one military contractor would like to see in reality. And the Rev-9 is no exception. I certainly liked that ability that has to be divided into two completely autonomous machines, since with that ability, it can attack the same target from two flanks, or it can attack different targets at once.
It also highlights the enormous ease that Rev-9 has of hacking systems, computers and unmanned vehicles to search for and eliminate targets, as well as being able to infiltrate with great ease and above all to replicate a complex range of human emotions, in order to go unnoticed. A highly lethal machine that should not be underestimated and whose antagonism in the film pleased me quite a bit. Maybe not at the level of the legendary T-1000, starring Robert Patrick. But at least the interpretation of Gabriel Luna does not go unnoticed.
Story: Well, where to start? If you ask me, the story presented in this movie is something like a double-edged sword. On the one hand, the story of how Grace and Rev-9 travel to the past to look for Dani Ramos and the last one seeing how her life changes dramatically, to later accept her destiny, results in a fairly decent story in my opinion. The problem is that history has certain interesting ideas, but in the end it does not know how to develop any in a satisfactory way. Certainly, I think they made the same mistake as Terminator: Genysis, basically leaving a lot of doubts and confusion in the viewer.
I think one of the biggest mistakes in the movie was precisely to eliminate John Connor, to be replaced by Dani Ramos. Look, I'm not against a woman leading an army of humans against the machines, but you have to keep in mind that in the previous five films, John Connor was always established as the leader of the resistance; That, coupled with the fact that it is a very abrupt change and without argumental justification, is not difficult to understand why many did not like this change at all.
In a personal opinion, I think it would have been better if they kept John Connor alive and at the same time, to interact with Dani Ramos, so that both of them would end up becoming the resistance leaders. Or, that John Connor died in adulthood, in the middle of the battle and that before he died, it was he himself who designated Dani Ramos as his successor in the resistance.
Certain doubts also arise as the plot develops. As for example: which of the two artificial intelligences sent all those terminators that ended up destroyed by Sarah Connor? If it was Skynet, it makes no sense, since in the end it did its job of killing John Connor. If it was Legion, why so far did it occur to send a Rev-9 to exterminate Dani Ramos? And since we're in those, how is it possible that the T-800, the one who killed John, knew exactly when a Terminator arrived? And how did Legion artificial intelligence originate? Grace explains how her world ended up destroyed by Legion, but never explains how it becomes an menace, if it was an artificial intelligence that acquired its own consciousness, or a kind of virus that altered it computer structure, something that explains Legion's origin.
In this regard, one might also ask, if the events that prevented the emergence of Skynet in Terminator 2, altered the original timeline. In any case, it must be stinking that no matter what Sarah Connor does, there will always be an artificial intelligence that will seek to destroy humanity.
Another mistake made by the film at the level of story is precisely to tell the same story that we have seen throughout the franchise: an artificial intelligence sends a machine to eliminate the future leader of humanity. The resistance, meanwhile, sends a soldier capable of fulfilling the mission and having a link with that leader. After a series of battles, they defeat the evil machine, while the person destined to lead mankind becomes aware of the role he will have in the future.
Although as I said, the story that tells the growth of Dani Ramos, is not bad and in fact, the character reaches its culminating evolution in the battle at the hydroelectric dam, where our heroes join with everything to end the Rev-9 , being one of the most exciting and successful sequences of the film.
Visuals & special effects: Without a doubt the best of the film. And it is really amazing that they could rejuvenate the characters of Sarah Connor, the T-800 and especially the character of John Connor. Similarly, the special effects are fascinating when it comes to showing the Rev-9 model in all its splendor, particularly where the Rev-9 shows its liquid metal state, much like a kind of live pitch, whether for regenerate or to divide into two combat units, or to create white weapons. The effects also stand out in themselves, by showing the conflict between the human race and Legion artificial intelligence, where you can see Terminators units, similar to the Rev-9 mentioned, only that they have more beastly forms and are more implacable. Similarly, the atmospheres about a destroyed world have that perfect apocalyptic atmosphere, a practically unrecognizable world, where humanity has to fight day by day against mechanical beings, ultimately lethal.
Action: Another remarkable aspect and also the best that the film offers. For example, the fight between Grace and the Rev-9 at the car plant is a good-to-face choreographed melee battle, enough to make it a memorable battle. It is an intense combat, full of strength and speed, where both fighters use their skills to end their adversary. I also highlight another scene, being this, the final battle in the hydroelectric dam, where our protagonists come together to definitively end the Rev-9, being really a scene of thrilling action, full of adrenaline at every moment. And while I recognize that there are unlikely action scenes, at least they are quite acceptable, since these are not very exaggerated. At least, in my opinion, it is worth watching the movie for the action scenes. In conclusion, Terminator: Dark Fate, is a film that will not be a masterpiece, but neither is it a horrible product. At most, it is a passable movie that can take your boredom away. However, being a product that conforms to more of the same, telling you the same story over and over again will undoubtedly become something totally dispensable. You watch the movie, nothing happens. You don't watch the movie, anyway, you don't miss much. Therefore, I give this movie 2.5 of 5 Revs-9. Sadly and ironically, Terminator: Dark Fate is waiting for a dark destiny: to be placed next to its three predecessors in the vault of oblivion.
Greetings
Rankakiu

sexualidade: bissexual
ocupação: bombeiro.

&. ANTES.

Terminator: Dark Fate (2019) dir. Tim Miller. 7.4/10
My ranking of Terminator movies from best to least best is 2, Genisys, Dark Fate, Salvation, 3 and 1.
Yeah, Sarah’s life must have been so lonely and tragic. She’s just so hard and badass.
Spoiler: [About Sarah Connor stopping Judgement Day. In 1998 Guatemala, a Terminator arrives and kills John Connor in front of Sarah. In Mexico City, 22 years later, lightening appears and causes a female to fall out of it off a bridge. A couple goes to help her until the cops arrive. The couple is arrested as the woman debilitates the cops. The couple thanks her, but she takes the guy’s clothes. Daniella Ramos (Dani) sets up breakfast for her brother, Diego, and her father. She and Diego then go off to work at an assembly factory. Diego discovers that he has been replaced by a robot and as Dani talks to their boss. A Rev-9 infiltrates the place after arriving at Dani’s place and taking her dad’s identity. He enters the factory and asks Diego where Dani is. He then shoots Dani as she appears, but misses as she’s saved by Grace, the woman from the bridge. Grace fights the Rev-9 while protecting Dani. Grace, Dani, and Diego escape with a stolen truck while the Rev-9 pursues them with a larger truck. The Rev-9 is a shape shifting liquid metal. It can also split into two figures. Grace tries to explain what’s happening as she’s driving. After a crash, Diego is pierced by a metal rod. Grace can only help Dani and they barely escape as the Rev-9 crashes into the car, killing Diego. Sarah Connor appears and starts shooting at the Rev-9. Grace takes Sarah’s car and takes Dani with her. Grace starts deteriorating as she needs water and meds. She can only work in short spurts. She explains that Dani’s dad is dead too and that she’s a human that has been augmented. Grace and Dani rob a pharmacy to get her the needed drugs. As they exit, Sarah is waiting for them with a different car full of weapons. They bring in an unconscious Grace into the car as Sarah talks to Dani. She throws away Dani’s phone, so that they aren’t tracked. They get to a motel and cool Grace’s body and inject her with meds. Sarah’s phone is in a chip bag to block the GPS signal. Dani grieves for her family as Grace dreams back to her time. They get to their location to get to trauma crew, but are attacked by machines. Grace has to get her commander to safety, but is hurt herself. Later, she’s in safety and volunteers to become augmented. When she wakes up to Sarah, Sarah has a gun on her and wants to understand. Grace subdues her and they let Dani in after she went to go get snacks. Sarah explains her story of having a Terminator come kill her to prevent John’s, the leader of the Resistance’s, birth. Grace says she’s here to protect Dani and Sarah says they need her help since they can be located constantly. On their drive onwards, Grace explains that Legion is in control in her time. When she’s questioned about how she came to the freeway to find them, Sarah mentions that she gets anonymous texts with specific times and coordinates. She goes to help in any way, because the texts always say For John. It can’t be traced, but Grace manages to figure out it’s coming from a location outside of Laredo, Texas. It’s the same coordinates that is tattooed on Grace’s body in case she ever needed help. Dani gets them on a train to head to cross the border. The Rev-9 is able to locate them. Grace tells her story of how everything just shut down and she managed to fend for herself through luck. A group of people attacked her just for her food while others killed her dad for a can of peaches. Then, someone found her and helped her to start fighting. Sarah believes that Dani is who she was when she was younger. She will give birth to the next leader of the Resistance in this time. They get to Dani’s uncle, who can help them cross the border. The Rev-9 infiltrates the border patrol and gets a drone to track them. He also calls in the borders to capture them as suspects involved with the Sinaloa Cartel. The U.S. Border Patrol ends up capturing them and they give themselves into arrest. Grace momentarily breaks her ties to save Dani from an air attack. They are eventually taken to a detention center and the doctors tend to Grace’s body while an officer doesn’t believe Dani’s
story. Sarah is notorious, so taken to a different sector. The Rev-9 enters the detention center with a ruse to pick up Dani as an officer. Grace manages to subdue her doctors when she awakes and sets off a fire alarm. She then releases all the people in cages while saving Dani. They head to a helicopter as the REV-9 pursues them. Dani waits to help Sarah get on the helicopter even though Grace wants to leave her. They barely escape the Rev-9. The Rev-9 talks to the cops and manages to get a helicopter himself. The three get to the location and find the Terminator that killed John. Sarah wants to kill him, but is prevented by the others. Sarah talks to Dani about not having any photos of John and how she’s forgetting what he looks like. The Terminator tells his story and how he’s called Carl now. He has a family that isn’t physical. He has a wife, Alicia, and his son, Mateo. He took care of them after he had killed John. Grace understands that he’s growing a conscious. He explains that this gave him purpose since his mission was done and he sent the messages to Sarah to give her purpose after John. Alicia and Mateo arrive and give them drinks. Sarah talks about wanting to set a trap for the Rev-9 and using Dani as bait. Grace doesn’t want that, because she wants to keep running to keep Dani safe. Dani refuses and says they need to fight. They agree and Carl reveals the weapons he has. They prepare Dani by having her do shooting practice. Carl says goodbye to his family and explains to the others that his family has known about this day and they won’t ever see him again. Sarah tells him that when this is all over and Dani is safe, she will kill him. Sarah gets help from her friend, Major Dean, who provides them with an EMP that can help destroy the Rev-9. The Rev-9 arrives and pursues them by helicopter as they take a van away. Dean gets help from his base and they get on a C-5. They fly away as the Rev-9 holds on to the plane. They push the van off to make him fall off. Unfortunately, the EMPs have been destroyed during this attack. When Grace brings up being against the trap again, Dani talks of the present since she doesn’t care about the future and her unborn son. Grace reveals the truth that Dani is the one who saved her and taught her to fight. Dani and Grace fought together after she saved her from the group of people and taught them that fate is in their hands. Sarah concludes that Dani is John and not her. The Rev-9 comes with a plane and crashes into them. He gets to them and fights as two figures. The others work to get the car released from the plane. After the explosion and with Carl’s help, they get into the truck and set off the parachute for it. The plane crashes at the Hoover Dam as Carl fights the Rev-9 underwater. Carl’s arm is destroyed. The truck is held on at the edge of the waterfall and Grace lets them go down to the waters as she fights the Rev-9. After she’s subdued, Dani opens up the parachute to tangle the Rev-9 while she and Sarah swim for the surface. They get to a building as Grace tries to convince them to take her power source to kill the Rev-9. It would kill her. Dani doesn’t want to. Carl arrives and gives Grace her meds and they enter the building. Dani gets everyone to agree that it’s time for the trap. Carl and Grace fight the Rev-9. They eventually get him stuck in a spinning turbine and it explodes. Sarah and Dani are safe while the others were part of the explosion. Grace convinces Dani to take her power source because she wants to save her now since she was once saved. Dani fights the Rev-9 and gets subdued until Sarah calls Carl to wake up. Carl subdues the Rev-9 while Dani sticks the power source into its head. Carl holds onto it as he takes them down a hole. They explode and are destroyed. Later, Dani and Sarah go look over the young Grace. They then prepare.]

Comecei a ler tardiamente.

The Mosley Review: Terminator: Dark Fate
Tumblr media
Time and time again this franchise keeps coming back. Each time it does there is a small hope I have that maybe this time they'll learn from the consistent mistakes the past films keep making. I have stated my love/hate relationship before in the past and why I think Terminator Salvation was the last great film in the franchise, but Genysis was the film that made me tired of this franchise. I have grown tired of the present and just wish they continued with Salvation's planned future trilogy. So now we're back in the present and this film is supposed to erase the timeline after Terminator 2 and it does in an immediate fashion. That was the hook and I decided to give it one more go. I have to say that I wasn't completely blown away by this film, but I did like it. It does suffer from the same over abundance of action over a deeper story, but at times it balances itself out with a good build up of tension and quick pacing. You're never really gonna be bored.

Mackenzie Davis is the new hero this time around and as Grace she was truly awesome. She is a fantastic dramatic actress and to see her take on the action and keep it balanced with a excellent performance was in fact a treat. Natalia Reyes was good in the film as the new target Daniella "Dani" Ramos. I really did like her growth from being the victim to the fighter and yet it didn't feel too rushed. Gabriel Luna is the new Terminator model, Rev-9 and for all the Terminators in the franchise, I would consider him to be the second best villain we've ever seen. He was truly engaging, sinister and sometimes scary and he was exactly the kind of villain this franchise needed. Linda Hamilton returns as Sarah Conner and I liked seeing this version of her. She's still the toughest woman in the room and yet there is so much pain behind her eyes. Linda slips right back into the character and delivers a new side her that I truly loved seeing. Arnold Schwarzenegger once again graces the screen as the same T-800 we know and love and he was fantastic. This time he is very different and takes the character to a new depth of defining what it is to be human. I loved every bit of his scenes and especially the scenes he shares with Sarah.

The score by Tom Holkenborg aka Junkie XL was hard hitting and fun with the sprinkling of all of the classic Terminator themes. I do wish the main theme was more present though which is still a problem every film has had since Terminator 2. The action scenes and visual effects were excellent in this film and even though the finale is destruction vfx heavy, it still was impressive. Where I feel the film suffered is that it just felt a like a retread of the T2 and T1 mixed together. There were some a few decisions made that were dumb and just dragged a certain scene on and could've been easily remedied. For a film that tries to take the franchise to a grounded take, there is an action sequence where things too ridiculous and the main characters would’ve been severely injured. These films were the best when they focused on character growth and not just on how big the action sequences can get. Less is more. Overall, I did like this film and I would say it is worth seeing. For the franchise, this is definitely an improvement and a good entry that reshapes where the franchise could go if they want to continue from this point. For those saying its the best since T2, I would say yeah, but not by alot.
