If they didn't want me to become anti-capitalist, they shouldn't have aired Rumcajs on tv. Too late now. Abolish the monarchy and hand over your belongings.

Do you know what I love about Ravka? It reminds me of my childhood. I'm not Russian or from Eastern Europe or knew anyone who was whilst growing up, but I had this audio book "Die Abenteuer des starken Wanja" which is a reading of the novel by Ottfried Preußler (go check him out if you haven't already). The book is basically a fairy tale which follows Wanja on his journey of becoming the next Tsar of the land behind the white mountains.
And like every time there's a mention of kvas or a samowar or the tsar or Russian names (one of Wanja's brothers is even named Grischa) or even the Saints (which mirror the (orthodox) Christian faith of Wanja and his community) in the Grishaverse books or series, I'm reminded of my childhood and of how I used to lie there with my sister and just listen for hours on end.
I am forever grateful for this book series and the show and I want to thank Leigh for the nostalgia.
Btw this audio book may also be the reason I love Anastasia so much because Wanja really made me appreciate the pre-1917 Russia vibe.
