"In another life, I would have really liked just doing laundry and taxes with you."
I think this movie healed a part of me I didn't even know was broken.
Don't repost anywhere.

I was watching I Like to Watch with Trixie and Katya and when Trixie said “these cameras don’t matter, even if they weren’t here I would still just be watching tv here with you” to Katya it gave me the same vibe as “in another life, I would have really liked just doing laundry and taxes with you” and now I’m crying

Well, this took waaaaaaay longer than it should have. I spent a long-ass time trying to figure out how to make them look like 3D modeled Pixar characters before admitting to myself that it was way beyond my present abilities. I also went through about twenty versions of Evelyn’s face before I settled on one that I was more or less satisfied with. If you’re thinking that Jobu’s braid bagel looks like it was tedious as shit to draw, you are correct. Very happy with how the raccoon turned out; my wife attempted to persuade me to de-emphasize his canine teeth, but I valiantly resisted.

And don’t miss my chat with Rod Kim about Everything Everywhere All At Once. We swoon over OSCAR WINNING (!!!) Ke Huy Quan’s performance. He made me a believer in the glasses as a disguise trope.

Finally watched Everything Everywhere All At Once, and holy shit I get why everybody went buckwild over it.
Like wow, what a brain-blast way to convey it’s okay to be a mess and nothing be perfect as long as you’ve got your people! We are deserving of love and each other!!
(Also whoever did the costuming deserves all the awards and textile glory and gold-plated hairdryers or whatever because what the hell they turned neon tie-dye claw-machine teddy bears into an outfit and it worked)

I find more and more that I just really love movies that take advantage of being movies.
I really like it when a film does something that only a film can do, or uses filmic conventions in new and interesting ways!
Which, I mean, I think I broadly like in any medium - I love it when experiences are unique to the medium they're expressed in. Books that only work if you're reading them; graphic stories that take advantage of panelling and pace; video games that acknowledge player action as a force; music that plays with the conventions of sound.
