Can I just say I am SO fuckin grateful that Luis confirmed that Zerxus did not have any romantic attraction to Asmodeus? Because every single time I saw it on my feed, I got bad vibes.
It's pretty clear from the very beginning of the mini campaign that Zerxus was not over Evandrin. Not at all. And Asmodeus, a Betrayer God, wasn't going to change that so quickly. Redemption be damned.
This might just be my own bias because I'm partial to Redemption Paladins (my PC is one) but some people read things wrong. And I'm glad it was cleared up.
Zerxus is still my favorite character, even though his decisions still stressed me out, it's fine. I love him despite it.

Summary:
A faint smile passes across Dad's face, then. He presses a hand to his heart. For a moment, Elias remembers being an infant, cradled in his father's loving arms, looking up into the warmest expression he has ever known. "What you see on the outside doesn't matter, my son. Just remember what's here. Then, you will always see me for who I really am."
Elias grows up.
if i had a nickel for every father-son dynamic from exandria unlimited: calamity i obsessed over, i would have two nickels. which isn’t a lot and it’s valid that it happened twice
read on AO3 above, or try the excerpt below!
Elias is six years old, and he is fishing.
He likes the idea of it, anyhow. Papa brought home a book of poetry once, full of ocean-themed stories. One page featured a picture of a boy fishing, a boy who looked just like him. Since then, it has been Elias's favorite thing.
Living in Avalir, he doesn't really get the chance to fish, but he still dreams of waves and sharks. Uncle Nydas tells him about his pirating days sometimes—skimming across the big blue sea with salt burning his nose. There's nothing like it, he says.
"I wanna feel that someday," Elias said once, especially awed by a story of how his uncle got his scar.
Nydas threw his head back and laughed. "You will, kid, as long as you never stop chasing that dream."
Whenever they pass over the shores of Gwessar or the lakes of Marquet, Elias wonders if his Papa would have brought him fishing. Dad has always been a little sterner, but he might have as well, if Papa hadn't gotten sick.
Elias looks out the window.
Outside, celebrations are ongoing. Fireworks light up the evening sky. The people of Avalir reunite with their families in Cathmoíra. It's his first time seeing the Replenishment, and Elias wishes he could enjoy it.
But he knows Dad will leave at the end. "I'm sorry, Elias," he said earlier that day; "I have my duties as the First Knight now, so I won't be able to take care of you anymore. Be good for your Uncle Eaedalus and Aunt Irmé, alright?"
Elias stood there, nodding as Dad tousled his hair with his face all twisted up. He looked sad, like he did whenever Papa got brought up. Elias did not say—he knew he could not say: No, no, why can't I stay with you?
(For years to come, he will think: I should have begged Dad to stay.)
He breathes in, fidgeting with the page of his book. Wherever Elias goes, at least he'll have this memory of Papa to keep.
