hi bestie saw ur post and im kinda curious about this since it's something not a lot of ppl are talking about next to ed's arc and izzy's death and all— what do you think about how they handled stede in the finale? I felt like a lot of the "incompetent wannabe pirate" jokes undermined his progress this season and also him deciding to stay at the inn with ed felt odd as he expressed he wanted to be a pirate and sail the sea. just wondering what other people think about that

Before we get into it, you are allowed to enjoy this show! My past (and next few) responses WILL be negative, but you aren't wrong for agreeing or disagreeing with most posts. Thanks to all the people who have already sent in messages! I can't wait to respond!!

I am an Izzy fan first and foremost, but how a show handles it's protagonist says a LOT about how it handles it' characters overall!

TLDR for this post: In any character-centric media, explore your characters as characters first. Develop your plot around them and their arcs. Don't treat an ensemble cast as faceless props for the story you're trying to tell. Stede's arc is weird because Stede is shoved in places where it feels like he doesn't fit anymore.

Creating a narrative focused on central character conflicts can work. This is how S1 was written. Stede and his actions directly lead to revealing truths of the world that push the plot forward. This worked because I'd argue the strongest part of OFMD overall is its characters. S2 misses out on this strongest aspect by only referencing its characters when it needs something from them.

S1 We went from Stede killing a guy-> The Act of Grace. S2 Stede tells a guy he shouldn't be an idiot and leave behind a calling card -> burning down the Republic of Pirates and killing Izzy. S2 doesn't feel as tied to Stede's arc of growing into a pirate. But Stede isn't the only person this has fucked over.

Each crew member has their role established from S1, we fans know how they work as a family. But in S2 most of the cast can be swapped out interchangeably unless its something that features this side character NICHE (Wee John in drag being good with fabrics, Roach being a cook).

Sadly, by focusing on the larger Zheng vs. Military arc, a story our characters BARELY caused, the audience misses out on potential character development. Instead of our characters facing the consequences of their actions, our favorite side characters are used as faceless narrative tools. This is largely why the crew was abandoned this season unless they had a romantic side plot. Seeing The Revenge sail off in episode 8, it feels like we barely care about them at all anymore.

As seen from @the-buttspie 's comment, even Stede's arc isn't left out of the firing range. His characterization in episode 8 is constantly thrown back and forth between 'Captain doing his best' and 'Village idiot' if the scene needs it.

Analyzing WHY I started to dislike Stede post episode 4 is FASCINATING, and I feel that digging all the way back to the beginning is a smart way to look at his character growth this season.

FRAMING: Stede's early story get's fucked over pacing-wise because his storyline happens side by side to that of Ed/Izzy.

Any dramatic moment is cut short to show just how much the other crew is NOT about to die. Every time I watch S2 with a new person, for episodes 1-3, they'll comment on how much they don't care about Stede's plot. Which is not a thing you'd want for your protagonist in a season of TV that's only 8 episodes long.

Stede goes through a really strong arc from S1 to the start of S2. For the first three episodes of S2, he puts the needs of his crew before the needs of himself. Literally making sure his crew is safe before going down to see Ed's corpse. I genuinely enjoyed how Stede stepped up for his family. How he doesn't blame the Revenge crew for killing Ed, realizing that yes. Ed is the love of his life and also a man who has seriously hurt so many people.

Eps 4-5: From that we see him trying to talk it through with Ed. While both of them aren't telling the whole truth, it's a good start! We're midway through the season, so we should expect things to get fleshed out more soon.

Until Stede decides 'I'm going to bring a man that tortured my family for 80+ days onboard less than 24 hours after my crew voted him off' Yes. Stede loves Ed to a stupid extent, but this starts the trend for Stede to be dangerously selfish this season using his power as captain to overwrite the want of his crew, a habit of his that partially gets Izzy killed.

I really enjoyed Stede in episode 5, and for me, this felt most like the Stede we recognize growing into a real Captain with hints of who he was. I think it says a lot that Stede still misses his layers and silks. That he craves the softness he used to have in the form of that cursed jacket. But as soon as Izzy is like 'you idiot, please listen to them, they will mutiny' Stede gives it up!!!! He's grown. He's listening to Izzy, he's talking with his crew! This episode did the one thing I wish the season did more of, show the reunited crew just living their lives.

This is where Stede stands out, it lets him be a bit more of a leader to the crew. Let him find his groove again. I loved it!!

Now: Killing Ned Low.

Stede choosing to kill Ned Low is the first time Stede killing someone counts. Yes, he burned down the ship French ship. But this is the first time the audience is supposed to care. I think this moment WAS in character and a really important moment for Stede. He chose this. This wasn't up to crew vote, Ned insulted Ed so fuck him, he deserves to die. Ned walks the plank, also referencing historical Bonnet's tendency to do the same thing.

This is where both Ed and Stede make an in-character mistake, having their first time after the rush of 'oh shit, I'm still alive, and I'm hurting and you're here too'. They don't regret their first time, clearly, they both enjoyed it, but both of them can't ignore what fueled it. Stede has had 3 episodes to re-establish himself with his crew, and now has very little time for the rest of the season with them to show off his growth. That's why, after the party, we don't feel like this show is showing off a family anymore. Even when reunited, they barely feel like a united front.

But from this point on, I personally feel that Stede should have toned down the humor a bit and act like he did in episode 3. Well, I'm getting a bit ahead of myself so-

Episode 7: Stede enjoys being popular, following in Ed's footsteps. He holds his ground against Ed, and overall this feels like a natural progression of his arc from episode 5. He knows what he wants in life and Ed not communicating is genuinely frustrating for him. Him being heartbroken and trying to fight Zheng like she's Izzy is one of the few callbacks I feel that works. As it compares a Stede who was supported by his crew, to this Stede who feels totally alone. I loved Stede this episode, only to be disappointed by-

Episode 8:

Where Ed is allowed to have his silly moments in private, I feel that Stede fluctuates between silly and serious WAY too much for us to take him seriously. Stede's response to Ed telling him he loved him being 'I know' also felt off to me.

"You're not a dick, life's a dick" This line is frustrating to me as it's Stede's response to Ed apologizing. Genuinely apologizing for his actions in the previous episode. This could have been a moment for us to feel like Stede and Ed were a united front but Stede's constant joking and not taking shit semi-seriously. Yes. He feels more comfortable around his family which is amazing.

But I can't help but point out how Stede chooses to go along with a plan the rest of the crew doesn't like. What NARRATIVE purpose was there for Stede trying to sell the captain? He has money, clearly. With the loot they still have, and a future alliance with Zheng.

Stede fucks up. His choice a plan that gets Izzy killed. The writers sacrificed Stede being a competent Captain who cares about his crew into what is described as a 'suicide mission' to push Izzy into his rushed death. A disservice to both characters.

ONTO:

Stede abandons piracy

I'm not shocked they did this, not after the other flubs of the episode, but I hate that it wasn't a conversation held between Ed and Stede.

They could cut the stupid joke about Ed being bad at fishing at the beginning and have these two idiots talking about their issues. Maybe establish that, yeah, piracy is a lot, and they deserve to settle down and get to know each other. Even if they return to the sea, this frames it as Ed finally finding peace and Stede getting pulled along, going against his character growth this season.

I'm surprised that they're setting this up now and not at the end of Season 3. Hell, I used to think S3 would be focused on Ed and Stede avoiding/faking their historical deaths. Given all the bullshit they'll have to clean up to wrap up all the loose ends established this season- S3 will be VERY Ed/Stede focused, I think the crew will still be inserted in without care or arc. Characters like Jim and Oluwande will be prioritized as they are in a relationship before our nonromantic characters like Wee John and Frenchie.

Stede and Ed's relationship, the driving force of the plot, still falls flat because after everything it still feels like puppy love. They've spent at most two months in person together, and two weeks in a serious relationship. I don't really feel convinced that they actually love each other. Ed still doesn't know that Stede was kidnapped at the end of S1, or why he struggles to talk about his feelings. Ed still hasn't talked about why he feels he needs to leave piracy, or his issues feeling like he doesn't belong anywhere in life. Their habit of running away the MOMENT things get hard just makes me not care about them.

I blame the size of the Izzy fandom on the fact that if you don't buy into the leads, there's almost nothing left here to sink your teeth into. The moment the show seems like they'll talk about it they hard pivot.

I hope S3ep1 happens after a LONG time jump. I want these fuckers to be snippy like two people snowed into a cabin for months. Sick of each other and bitching back and forth like no tomorrow. S3 is about genuinely breaking down their walls. Until then, I'll stick with Izzy, the Canyon, and his depressing version of this reality.

When the Dragon Howls Chapter Three

Characters - Cregan Stark x OC (Maera Velaryon), Aegon Targaryen, Aemond Targaryen

Summary - Maera Velaryon feels consumed by the obsessive clutches of her uncles. A wolf from Winterfell could potentially be the one strong enough to confront the dragons.

Word Count - 711 words

Warnings - Typical Targaryen relationships. Aemond and Aegon are kinda creepy (Sorry. The boys have no example of a healthy relationship in his life.)

Maera’s wish did not come true.

A reprieve from her family and the festivities was much needed so Maera looked for solace in the library of the Red Keep. She was reaching for a book on one of the higher shelves when a hand brushes her hand and grabs the book for her. Looking to the side, Maera sees Aegon handing the book to her. “What would you do without me, little Maera?” Already frustrated with his brother and wanting to be alone, Maera turns away and searches for the best place to sit. “Thank you for your assistance but I am sure that I would have been able to retrieve the book for myself.” She finally spots a cushioned bench in a window and makes her way to it, unfortunately, Aegon follows her. “It seems as if you have not only become more beautiful; your tongue has become sharper as well.” He flops onto Maera’s lap as she sits down. “Maera. You break my heart with your words. I miss you immensely when you are away. First, you allow my brother to escort you to dinner and sit by your side. Then you dance with Helaena and sneak out of dinner before I can even speak to you. Now you are rejecting my attention. This is not how you should treat your doting uncle.” Aegon continues his dramatics by taking one of Maera’s hands before he places it over his heart. Maera looks down at Aegon and rolls her eyes. Despite his wanting to be alone, Maera can’t deny that he is amusing her with his actions. She pulls her hand back and opens her book, trying to indicate that she wants to read. “I did not request for Aemond to escort me. He showed up at the door to my champers and it would have been impolite for me to deny him. Just like it would be impolite for me to ask you to leave me alone.” Maera muttered the last sentence yet Aegon still heard her if his smirk was anything to go by. “You don’t mean that. I take great pleasure in being in your company as I am sure you do in mine.” Aegon says arrogantly. Another voice bore through their conversation. “No one except the women you may take pleasure in your company, brother.” Aemond growls out as he rounds one of the bookshelves blocking Aegon and Maera from view. “Our dearest niece does not have time for drunken fools. Leave her alone so that she can enjoy her books. You may not understand that someone can appreciate the written word since you barely know how to read.” Maera is caught as the two brothers begin to argue, completely ignoring her and her thoughts despite her being the subject of their argument. “You want her to read the books because they are the only things you are able to talk to her about, Aemond. Perhaps she would like you more if you were less uptight and boring.” Maera sighs as the argument continues. This seems to be much more than Aegon and Aemond’s previous childhood squabbles and Maera does not wish to be stuck in the library with them if it comes to blows. All she wanted to do was read her book in peace. She tries to stand but is pulled back down to the bench by a now red-faced Aegon. “Settle this for us, little Maera. Who is your favorite uncle? Who do you desire to spend your time with?” Maera looks between the two brothers. At this moment, they couldn’t seem more different. Aemond is glaring coldly at his brother yet still remains perfectly controlled while Aegon looks as if he is going to explode no matter what Maera’s answer is. The combination of both of them staring at her expectantly has Maera regretting her decision to come to Red Keep, much less the library. She cannot escape answering them though so Maera tries to be playful in her answer in an attempt to distract the brothers. “Daeron is my favorite at the moment. He is the only uncle who is not disturbing my attempts at reading.” Aegon laughs at her answer while Aemond just narrows his gaze.

Happy birthday @evren-sadwrn ! I wrote this fanfic with Santino and Vincent for you! I'm really glad we became moots and I love yapping about JW characters with you (especially abt Santino) so I wanted to show you that I really appreciate you! This is my gift for you! 💖

The Roses

So many different flowers grew in the garden. Especially roses. The D'Antonio family is fond of flowers but the roses are among the favorites.

Santino watched those roses through the window of his bedroom, they're beautiful to him, they have a special place in his heart. He used to plant them with his mother when he was a little boy.

"Santi."

He heard a familiar voice behind him.

"Vincent." Santino smiled as he saw him. "How are you, mon chéri?" Vincent hugged him, gently going through his hair from behind. Santino was a bit suprised to see him since he always let's him know that he's gonna come over.

"I'm okay. Thank you." Santino murmured, finding the hug rather comforting.

After the hug, Vincent pressed a gentle kiss on top of Santino's head, murmuring something in French as they sat on the edge of the bed.

"Are you okay? I heard you got hurt, too." Santino said, glancing him but Vincent seemed just fine. "Ah, nothing serious. Couple of bruises that's all." Vincent said, looking down at the floor before looking back at him.

"I'm sorry that happened, Santi. I did told you not to do that, didn't I? I didn't want you to get hurt." Vincent had a talk with some of his potential new associates but things kinda didn't go as planned and it got worse when Santino tried to help.

He ended up being hurt. Beaten up, calling out Vincent's name for help. However, Vincent didn't show up to save him.

"I know...I'm sorry-" Santino apologized but Vincent caressed his cheek, making eye contact with him. "No, don't apologize. It was my fault. And I didn't hear you calling me...I'm so sorry, Santi. I'm sorry I wasn't there for you." He said softly and pressed few kisses on his forhead while he held Santino's hands.

"You got hurt, too. I just..." Santino paused and sighed, looking to the side. "I didn't know who else to call out." He felt ashamed to admit to be this weak, but he had no reasons to feel ashamed in front of Vincent, right? They're dating after all.

"I should've been there for you, I'll never forgive myself that-" Vincent started to almost panic while saying all this, but Santino cupped his cheeks and pulled him into a kiss. A soft kiss on the lips. "I'm okay, I'm here, I survived it." Santino said softly, looking into Vincent's eyes.

Vincent nodded, taking a hold of Santino's hands and pulling them down as he held them. "I'm so glad you're okay." Vincent said and pressed a deep long kiss on Santino's lips.

Santino moaned softly into in the kiss, finding it difficult to even breathe when Vincent was kissing him like this. It got more passionate, with Vincent forcing his tongue into his mouth, eating him alive. And Santino was lost into the kiss just like always.

"I'll make it up to you, miel." Vincent whispered against his lips, wiping off saliva that was on the side of Santino's mouth. Santino sighed shakily and nodded, looking at him sympathetically. No. It was more in in a needy, admiring way. Just like he always looks at him when Vincent kisses him.

"Can I see your wounds, please?" Vincent asked after a minute. Santino blinked, snapping back to reality. "Yes...but they're just bruises." Santino said and started unbuttoning his shirt. Vincent helped him get it off, sliding it down his arms.

Santino's body had bruises of various colors. Some were more darker purple than the others. Over his torso, ribs and on his back. Vincent gently traced his fingers over each one, pressing gentle kisses on Santino's shoulders as he winced couple of times.

"They don't hurt as much anymore, they're healing already." Santino said, feeling Vincent's lips on the back of his neck. He was studying Santino's bruises on his back.

"I'm going to kill them, miel. I'll do it myself." Vincent said, actually sounding serious about it. Santino chuckled breathlessly, "I'd love to see that."

"I know you would." Vincent purred, smirking when Santino turned his head inviting him for another kiss. Hugging him from behind, kissing him deeply again, Vincent hummed before pulling from the kiss.

"Santi...if you need anything, let me know. Really, just tell me whatever you need." He said after the kiss and Santino put on his shirt again. "Well...I'd like to spend more time with you. You're here now so...would you stay a little longer?" Santino felt like he needed to stay closer to him. He needed some comfort.

"I'd love to...however I can stay only for half an hour. I have another business talk...is that okay?" Vincent offered. "More than okay." Santino smiled.

That half an hour went by quickly. They drank some coffee, talked a bit, cuddled, kissed...and that's it.

Santino wished Vincent had more time for him. Especially now. But he understands.

"I'm sorry, miel. I promise I'll make it up for you." Vincent said, fixing his suit, looking himself in the mirror. "Be good and drink painkillers, chéri." He said as he kissed him one last time. "I will." Santino smiled and nodded.

And Santino was left alone, again. Oh well, he at least got to see and be with him today.

As the week went by, Vincent would visit him sometimes, talk with him, how he's doing, just like he came the first time. But each time he would be more flirty, more touchy.

Until he offered something.

"How about..." Vincent paused, smirking as he fixed his tie and looked at Santino. "Tonight we spend time together? I have some free time then...what do you say?"

Ah, so he wanted that.

"Sure. I'm looking forward." Santino said, feeling himself blushing. Vincent chuckled quietly and leaned to whisper to him. "I hope you'll be in better shape by then. I don't want you to get even more hurt." That made Santino almost shiver.

"Don't worry about that." Santino said, feeling confident about it. Vincent nodded, "Good. See you in couple of hours, chéri."

Santino couldn't wait. He's gonna be with him again. He's gonna spend another night with him. No matter how much he got hurt he's willing to do this for Vincent.

Vincent's looking out for him. He cares. He loves him. He came to visit him to see how he's doing.

Waiting like for Vincent like a lost little puppy. Waiting for his attention. Hopelessly following him, his orders, desperately begging for love.

Santino went outside to look at the roses and to get some fresh air. It was evening, Vincent should be here any minute. The red roses bloomed beautifully, the right not too bring and not too dark red color.

Soon after, Vincent showed up. Finally. He's here again. For him. With him.

While Santino wanted this to be more romantic, he had some red wine prepared in the bedroom for them, Vincent just wanted to get to the point.

It seemed a little bit odd to Santino but he didn't want to question it, Vincent's here for him now and that's all that matters.

While taking Vincent's clothes off, he noticed that there were no bruises or anything on his pale skin. But it's impossible for bruises to fade that quickly.

"You alright, chéri?" Vincent asked as he noticed Santino kinda looking wordlessly at his body. Santino quickly looked up at him, chuckling softly before answering. "Yes. Sorry, I zoned out." Santino said, giving him a soft smile.

He didn't want to question anything now. He didn't want to ruin the mood.

"It's okay. Relax, miel." Vincent purred, kissing him and pulling him down with him. He let Santino have control tonight.

It was one of the best moments they shared. Santino on top of him, fucking him. He was rather gentle at first because he wanted to be...and because when he strained with few harder thrusts, his legs hurt.

But Vincent didn't really care about that. He just kept praising him, gripping his hair, moaning his name. Santino loved it. Loved every minute of it.

It seemed like hours, and they both wished it didn't end, this feeling.

Vincent gasped, gripping onto Santino's back, onto one of his worse bruises which made Santino whimper and cry out a moan. But fuck, it added to the excitement of this.

Vincent came first, moaning Santino's name and gripping tightly onto his hair and back. It hurt. That bruise hurt and Santino gasped a moan, feeling a weird feeling of pain and pleasure.

It didn't took him long to finish. To finish inside him, coming with a strangled moan, panting into Vincent's neck.

"Good boy, Santi. You did so good for me."

Vincent praised him, gently stroking his back, yet probably unaware of the pain he caused him. Or he was aware since he caressed that part.

Santino caught his breath enough to pull out and flop next to him. Groaning quietly in pain as the bruise just got more irritated. "Aw, did I hurt you?" Vincent asked, more in a teasing way rather than caring. "No..." Santino breathed out, closing his eyes to regain himself.

Vincent chuckled, he's proud of himself. Just like always.

After some time, Santino resting his head on Vincent's shoulders. "You don't have any bruises..." He muttered. "Hm? Ah, I suppose I have better immune system than you, miel." Vincent said and caressed his cheek. Santino hummed in response. Too tired to question anything more.

But it was strange. Maybe Vincent does have a better immune system.

"I think I strained myself too much..." Santino said and whimpered as he stretched a little. "Aww, you just need rest, chéri." Vincent chuckled.

He does need rest after this. His whole body ached even more.

After few days, Santino recovered quickly from the bruises and his body didn't ache as much anymore.

Yet, Vincent wasn't visiting him that often. He only came by twice in this week. But he enjoyed those two times.

So to suprise him and show him his appreciation for him, Santino cut three of the red roses from his garden and went to visit him himself.

Ah, Vincent was on the phone with someone when he came to visit.

"Santi?" Vincent asked once he finished his phone call, looking a bit puzzled at him. "I um, I hope I'm not interrupting anything...I just..." Santino got a bit nervous of course, thinking maybe it's not the best time.

"These are for you. I really appreciate everything you've done for me for the past two weeks...thank you, Vincent." Santino said, blushing and showing Vincent the roses. Vincent blinked, looking from the roses to him and then just kinda chuckled and took them.

"Thank you, chéri. They're very pretty." He said and leaned to kiss him. "Ah, you didn't have to. I was just worried about you so I had to see how you're doing." Vincent smiled at him.

Santino huffed a nervous small laugh before answering, "I still feel like I need to show you how much you mean to me. And...these roses are from my garden...three red roses." He just knew he looked absolutely flustered and it's something Vincent loves.

"You're so cute like this. Ah, my little Santi." Vincent purred and caressed his face. The way Santino was looking at him with admiration and love...it's cute. But almost pathetic to Vincent.

"I'll put them in the vase on my table so I can look at them every day and think of you."

Santino was never this much happy before. And Vincent could see that, see that spark in his eyes. He has him now.

"I'm glad you like them. Roses have beautiful meanings. Every color has. And...red means love." Santino said, tugging onto Vincent's tie once Vincent put the roses in the vase.

"I know, miel. Red ones are my favorite." He leaned to kiss him. A passionate kiss, getting Santino on his other desk and kissing him some more.

Three red roses. Love.

Another day passed. Santino was obsessively thinking about Vincent.

Then another day. Santino obsessively thinking about him again. And again. And again. And a week passed. Only texting each other.

A rainy day arrived. Santino returned from his meeting.

Going to his bedroom he was met with a letter and one single blue rose.

The letter said:

"I'm sorry for not seeing you this week, chéri. I'm really busy. However I do think about you every single day and wish you're next to me. Please take this blue rose that I send for you as my apology for not seeing you. I know you love the blue color and it was difficult to find a blue rose but you know me, I always manage everything. Hope to see you soon. Love you, miel."

It was written in Vincent's handwriting.

A blue rose? Santino has never seen a blue rose before.

"It's very pretty." He said to himself, smiling as he held the rose. A nice almost like royal blue color. "I wonder what it means."

One single blue rose.

Something's not right here. One part of Santino felt that.

Blue rose.

Mystery, they don't exist in the nature, they're hard to create.

Vincent didn't help Santino when he was calling him for help. He did heard him.

He heard him calling out for him.

He ignored him.

Vincent was fine. He wasn't hurt.

He doesn't have any bruises on his body.

Blue rose.

Unrequited love. If you love someone but you know that it can't be. A love that...can't be.

Three red roses compared to one blue rose.

True love and unrequited love.

It cannot be.

"I really love the blue rose, Vincent. Thank you. I love you."

"Always, Santi. Love you, too"

NORMA NATIVIDAD

norma would be an octoling, and she'd main whatever's "meta defining" at the time instead of just picking a weapon she thinks is neat. what's the point if it's not the best!!

she has main character syndrome i think. she's EXTREMELY bossy and takes the game too seriously. she orders around her team (take the left flank!! cover me while i get the rainmaker!! nooo don't go over there i need you over here defending!!!!) and her instructions are almost always geared toward her getting her teammates to clear a path for her to take all the glory...it never quite goes well. she insists it's her genius planning and direction that gets her team to win matches but she couldn't be more wrong. she also probably blames her teammates when stuff goes wrong. you didn't coordinate well enough!! you didn't listen!!

her favorite mode is rainmaker and her locker is actually pretty neat looking. she shows off all her perfect gear in there and would probably have some of the amiibo items too. she's B- rank.

LIZZIE NATIVIDAD

lizzie is also an octoling causeee sisters! she'd be a skirmisher/slayer and be really good at baiting other players into unsafe situations where she or someone else on her team can splat them easily. SCARY good at getting people to tunnel and commit too hard to trying to fight her and not realize it till they're already respawning. she'd main something aggressive but mobile so she can get away easy, like octobrush. oh my GOD would she be infuriatingly good at sharking. comes out of nowhere and you're dead before you can blink.

i don't think she takes the game very seriously at ALL, polar opposite of norma, so she never really tilts or blames anyone when she loses. it's just a loss. she might be a sore winner though. i can see her being the type to make fun of her opponents like LMAOOO look at this loser on the jet squelchers aiming at the ground 💀 who let this kid play

anyways her fav mode would be tricolor battle. shes built different like that. she's B+ rank and pokes fun at norma about it sometimes.

SAM BOOLE

sam is an inkling, she plays slayer. blaster main. she. is. terrifying. she's the one who averages like 20 kills per game. she's the one picking off anyone who dares to touch the rainmaker or step onto the tower or make a single power clam. she is an unstoppable force. i don't think it comes from a place of Intense Focus And Practice though. she strikes me as the type of player to sorta just zone out and have fun without thinking too hard about it, and everyone keeps asking what strats she uses to be able to pull off all the insane plays she does and she just. shrugs.

i think her and raz as a slayer/skirmisher duo would be a force to be reckoned with, like, you see these two together on the enemy team and you're DOOMED. coach oleander is so proud of sam's natural killing machine talent but also a little bit terrified.

her favorite mode is turf war cause it's nice and straightforward. her locker is one of the less mainstream colors like brown or maybe that dark teal color, and it's thoughtfully decorated with cool stickers and stuff. there's definitely one of those furbies in there. very eclectic decor but she makes it work for suresies. she's rank A+. i think she would play salmon run a LOT as well just cause she thinks the salmonids are neat looking.

GISU NERUMEN

gisu gives me more inkling vibes even though octoling might fit her hair better. seems like the kinda player who doesn't really care about weapon roles and just goes for whatever feels the most fun to play. i think she'd play reeflux! there's a lot of cool stuff you can do with that weapon and potential for lots of trick shots. she'd be sort of like sam and lizzie in that she's pretty easy-going while playing, but i don't think she'd be immune to tilting, especially not when they're 30 seconds away from winning and the other team pulls some insane play that completely turns the tables. she doesn't hold onto a loss for long though and she's pretty good about getting back on track.

she'd totally be the type of player to post a million clips of her getting wipeouts or narrowly escaping getting splatted or those aformentioned trick shots btw. she lives for those highlight compilation worthy moments.

i think she'd be around rank A+ and her favorite mode might beeee... tower control. her locker would either be super sick or she'd use it to do one of those silly jokes with the moai head.

MORRIS MARTINEZ

morris strikes me as an inkling type fella. i think he wouldn't really like the stress of the front lines and would rather play an anchor weapon. something swagful like e-liter. he'd be convinced that the song that plays during matches affects his performance. of course we lost, they were playing headhammer. of course i did crazy good that round, they were playing ska-blam!!! (i'm the same actually. i always play well when a yoko and the gold bazookas song is on.) he's a pretty chill player but definitely gets put off by spikes in difficulty and might take long breaks from matches altogether because "the other teams are way too sweaty."

he'd probably range from C+ to A- rank at any given time depending how much he's bothered to play that season. his favorite mode would be splat zones since it's one of the less crazy ones, easier to follow what's going on. while gisu would only maybe probably do a joke locker, morris would TOTALLY do one But. he'd also decorate the outside properly so it's both silly and cool.

ADAM JOSEPH GETTE

octoling. or frankly... if we want to get devious and break the rules... inktoling?!?!?! like morris he's not so aggressive, but instead of it being because he can't handle the front lines i think it would be that he just has more fun playing support. he'd probably main a few weapons, like n-zap '89, splat roller, and tenta brella. he would spend a loooot of effort putting good abilities on fashionable outfits so he can look just as fresh as he plays. he likes learning so he'd get an advantage in the game by absorbing a TON of information about the best ways to use specials, map strategies, weaknesses of other weapons, all that good stuff. he's the kinda guy that always shows up right when you need someone to cover you, and has probably saved a good amount of games by being on point with his support.

he's S rank so y'know he's kiiiind of a big deal... kind of a big shot... big cheese... top dog... he says this all jokingly but norma always fumes at it. his favorite mode? oohhh don't make him choose...they're all fun for their own reasons!! he'd spend lots of time decorating his locker, using the stickers to make funky designs with heavy consideration for the color scheme. he'd probably incorporate the newspaper-y mixed media style stickers from story mode in there somehow. it would have kind of a vintage feel?

This is a continuation of the headcanon I did last night about Phoenix asking you out. My unpopular and uninteresting mandalorian season 3 opinion is that Bo Katan is fun and I don't hate the thought of a Din/Bo romance. Its not my favorite but I actually prefer it over the show writers clinging so tightly to the status quo, which is what they did for all of season 2 and what it looked like they were going to keep doing for season 3. I suspect it won't happen, but I wouldn't be mad if it did.

My unpopular but potentially more interesting hot take is that I don't think the Children of the Watch's actual behavior shows many signs of actual destructive cult shit and people's reaction to them as if they were a harmful cult is purely based on a) the line of a character who is clearly unreliable and has an axe to grind* and b) all the aesthetics that make them uncomfortable.

*and again I like Bo Katan, but she's not an unbiased source here.

When you look at their actual behavior? The first thing that happens is that Din shows up with a baby Jedi, the Armorer recognizes him as Jedi, and tasks Din with returning him to his people EVEN THOUGH the Jedi have been at odds with the Mandalorians for centuries. They must return him to his people, it is the morally correct thing to do, and they believe this SO MUCH that they straight up sacrifice everything to make it happen. They could just commit a little light cultural genocide and say, oh the Jedi are gone so he's a Mandalorian now. But they don't! Some of them straight up die to help a child OF THEIR ENEMY. I can tell you right now that fundie christians would fucking never. Even Paz Visla, who is constantly clashing with Din, is on board with helping the baby.

And yeah, the whole exile thing once Din removes his helmet sucks, and is definitely the closest they get to really negative cult-y behavior but even that kind of falls apart under a closer look. Like, even after Din is considered apostate he is allowed 1) to keep his ENTIRE SUIT of beskar armor even though it both has SIGNIFICANT religious value AND actual monetary value 2) KEEP THE FUCKING DARKSABER and 3) to take a fucking-- again beskar-- CHAIN MAIL BABY ONESIE for Grogu even though as far as they know Grogu is a Jedi now. Plus the task the armorer gives to Din is so easy its literally accomplished in one episode. I kinda low key think she knew the mines were accessible already and only said they weren't as a test.

Then once he left he was pretty clearly still in contact with them because the covert in season 3 is really obviously not located where Din shows up in BoBF. Like... this is not how being shunned from the group looks in fundie christian circles.

Once Din completes the task and proves it he's back in, no questions asked, no recriminations, no guilt trips. Not only that but Bo Katan is welcomed as well even though we know that previously the armorer knew of her and did not like or respect her. Bo Katan completed the ritual and that alone was enough. And yeah, she's in a vulnerable place right now that might make this sketchy but the invitation is extremely straightforward, includes immediately the fact that she can leave at any time, there's no reason to believe they know about the night owls leaving her, and they absolutely don't know her home has just been blown up.

They are absolutely pretty fanatical and aren't perfect by any means but I think a lot of the really negative impression people in fandom have about them is not actually supported by their actions in the show. This is a group of people that have been deeply traumatized by genocide and are reacting to it in perhaps unhealthy but honestly very logical ways. The DnD alignment chart has its issues but its hard not to see them as really hardcore lawful good here.

Also, although there's less textual evidence for this, I very strongly believe that they are a splinter group from Death Watch that left for moral and religious reasons, probably including rejecting the practice of kidnapping and indoctrinating children. (And I don't know how much of the legends backstory they're going to keep for Bo Katan but uh... yeah not an unbiased source of information about Children of the Watch IMO.)

Also I am aware that there are fundamentalist religious groups that aren't christian but since most of the fandom is western/American that's what I see people pull from the most and Children of the Watch are one million percent more ethical and less hypocritical than even the most mainline of evangelical christians are, let alone the ultra fundie groups.

Hi, my favorite Anon!~ Of course you can, I really like what you're asking! I'm sorry, this is reaaaally long-winded but I kinda split this up. I wanted the chance to talk about a potential scenerio where Near and the reader first meet, so I threw that in as some build-up, for those who like that! If not, please scroll down to the next title in big letters to jump to what you actually asked for <3 Sorry, got carried away, but I hope you enjoy!

Fluffy Near x Reader Headcanons: Pt. 1

★ To be dating Near, means you have maxed out friendship points with him. Sorry too much Sims lately. Anyways...

★ It's safe to assume the two of you are stuck with eachother for life at this point. There is no formal, "Will you be my partner?" from him. It's to his understanding that the two of you are just...on the same page.

★ It's mutual, between you both; first it starts with you being hired as company for him. Halle and Rester have lives of their own, after all. They have their own dreams and goals that lay beyond being Near's babysitter. I know I've mentioned it before, but it's not at all unreasonable to believe that he would have hired some new people to keep him company in their stead.

★ You were first hired after a series of interviews. The pay was good - really good, though the job description was a bit...vague. You were handed a card by, (to you), a stranger (Rester likely) with a number, and a place to be. Sounded fishy - but you couldn't pass up the offer. You wouldn't get hired, right? Still, you'd be foolish not to go to the interview. A live-in caretaker and emotional support person. "Is it some kind of weirdo, needing to pay people to be their friend? Or maybe a really...old, lonely person.?" You had no idea.

★ Halle was the one to interview you. Her questions fluctuated between vague and confusing to invasive. These questions were really just to see your honesty, though - Near already knew everything about you. As she grilled you, he watched, and listened...through cameras. He paid very close attention to your body language and by the time the interview was over and Halle had sent you on your way, Near had already told them to hire you. Still, they waited a few days to...'tidy' up the place.

★ You'd forgotten about the very weird interview until you received a call to return. You didn't remember giving them your phone number, but... Just like that, you got the job!

★ After signing many NDA's and even a waiver, it was then you understood how serious this job was going to be. They explained - even threatened - that if you discussed your job from that moment on, you would have serious repercussions in your life that you just couldn't come out of. That was your last chance to really walk away.

★ When you made the decision to go through with it, it was then explained to you that your job would be the personal assistant of no one other than L. Your mind went nuts on the inside, you weren't expecting this. You stammered and stuttered, before Halle continued to explain it was not the "original", but the third. Third. "There's been THREE L's?!"

★ Meeting L was...not at all what you expected. It wasn't exactly unexpected either. Your first meeting was no doubt awkward and...quiet. This 'L' sat on the floor like a fluffy white cloud, playing with some sort of.... wait is that a furby?

★ You stood still for what felt like hours, just staring at him. You waited for him to stand up, to look at you, address you,...anything. Instead he acted like no one new had entered the room, and fiddled with the robot.

★ "Um..." after a minute had passed, you felt awkward. The white haired guy had abandoned the furby, to begin setting up jenga. Looking from Halle to Rester, you then took a step toward him. You said nothing until you knelt to the floor (keeping your distance...you were afraid to get too close to him, he looked so fragile.) "...Can I play?"

★ He doesn't look at you, he looks focused. "Sure." is all he says. Several years later, you had no idea this would be the start of a lifelong relationship.

Fluffy Near x Reader Headcanons: Pt. 2

★ There was no formal, "Will you be my partner?" from him. It was just assumed, that, after spending several years together as his companion, you genuinely enjoyed one another. There was no asking for a date.

★ You invited him to the rooftop of his headquarters to see Jupiter. It was a romantic thing, though you didn't really think of it that way, you just thought it would be cool to look at the planets together with him. Near, as you now knew him, was used to you trying to get him to go outside. You were honestly and truly successful on many occasions, but 9 times out of 10, the offer was declined. But to see the planets? In the dark, where no one else could be? That sounded pleasant to him.

★ "Am I to assume this is a date," he says - not asking.

★ That's how it started.

★ Since then, your relationship evolved. Near always felt like he could open up to you. He didn't often. When the two of you would have deeper conversations, it was usually after the two of you had split by the end of the night; you'd still message eachother despite having spent time with eachother all day. He found it easier to...confide in you through text. You mistook his aloof personality for being a natural flirt; he'd tease you, and you'd tease back. You did have to be gentle with him, though. He always liked talking with you because you always had a response to him that was totally out of left field. Halle and Rester just talked to him differently than you did. You didn't take any attitude from Near, you didn't suck up to him...you were honest with him, and he liked that. Albeit easy to read, you still surprised him. It was never a boring day when you were around.

★ There was no asking to do anything couple-like, it just happened naturally. Passing him one of his legos made the moments your hands touched special. Eventually they began to linger.

★ The times your hand would accidentally graze his head and grab a strand of his hair turned into you combing it with your fingers. The two of you didn't really speak about these things. I think Near would've been too embarrassed if you did. All he knew is he liked when you scratched his ears or ran your hand down his back. And you liked when he'd hold your hand, picking at your nails, and staring at you when you 'weren't' looking.

★ Before you knew it, you were staying with Near fulltime. You could go outside at any point, he trusted you this much now. Years had passed, and he 100% believed there was no scenario in which you would leave him forever. He falls for you but also feels a bit sad for you at first. He wonders if he caused you to develop a Stockholm syndrome - like effect. He expresses this to you before, and you assure him that you do genuinely love being around him. He needs that, a lot of reassurance.

★ The two of you spend your days with eachother, more often than not. Even if neither one of you so much as speaks for hours, your shared presence is more than enough. Around you, Near feels safe. Every so often he will move whatever he's working on closer to you, as close as he possibly can. Other days you'll be busy moving around, but still make time to hop over and kiss him.

★ You mostly do everything first. You did the first kiss, but after around 50, he's comfortable enough to be the first one to do it. He's surprisingly clingy. When he needs a break from what he's doing, he will go next to you and snuggle. He might have a small game with him, or something to fidget with while he does, but he loves resting his head in your shoulders.

★ Once he's more comfy he gets more bold. Grabbing your face and pulling you into a deep kiss. He just loves holding you, and loves when he can take the time to enjoy your attention. He'll eventually ask you straight up, "I would like some attention," when he wants it. Once he realizes he can be himself, he overcomes some shyness.

★ When you want attention, it's another story. If you want to be more playful and surprise him, all you need to do is give him that look, and you have his attention. Nothing but love in his face.

★ He wouldn't be the first one to say "I love you" as he's a bit afraid of rejection. He'd have a feeling you felt that way, but wouldn't say it without you saying so before. "Well, that's good," he'd say - honestly, it takes a few "I love you's" on your part. Near will surprise you one day by saying it back.

★ Loves nothing more than cuddling with you while he plays with a toy. Sometimes he'll take a small car and run it over your curves. Your relationship is unorthodox, but you have him for life. You bring out the best in him, and even encourage him to feel safe outside. As long as he has you by his side, he feels confident.

★ Halle and Lidner aren't gone forever, of course. Though they have a slightly more personal time to themselves, they still work for Near, after all. Though you are an amazing addition to the team, even if all you are is emotionally available and supportive to Near. Nobody was expecting you two to fall in love. Despite Near's insecurities, the more you two learn about eachother, the stronger your love grows.

★ He gets pretty clingy but he internalizes it. He won't vocalize how much he misses you; he'll only cuddle the Build-A-Bear you made for him, and not letting go of it for as long as you're away. He's afraid if he acts too clingy to you and doesn't give you enough personal space away from him, you'll feel suffocated, trapped, and leave. Of course he gets jealous when you leave to visit family for the holidays, and you get sad when he refuses to come with you. "I can't. You knew this when we got closer..." he never said the word "relationship" - again, he understood that you just knew.

★ He feels sadness in those moments, but the two of you agreed when you confessed your feelings to him. This was not going to be an average relationship, and sacrifices (mostly on your end) would have to be met.

★ Though it's not perfect, you wouldn't trade a typical person for Near - the love he showed you was boundless, even if in his own, unique way.

“Contest for Cleo’s Affection”

I recently received G3 Cleo as a gift from my mom, so of course I had to take pictures of Cleo with all of her potential love interests. lol I tried to frame this as how I imagine it would go if all three of them tried to ask Cleo out to the Monster Ball.

Deuce would try to ask her the traditional way. He’d invite Cleo on a really cute, simple date to a cafe she likes, surprise her with flowers, and then ask if she would like to be his date to the Monster Ball.

Frankie would try to ask her the flashy way. They would ask all their friends (I’m imagining Heath and Draculaura are the ones giving them the most advice) as well as consult their different brain bits on what’s the best way they can impress Cleo. They also try watching a bunch of romcoms, romantic dramas, and romance anime as a means of “study” (kabedon anyone?). Frankie’s focus is on impressing Cleo enough so that they stand out amongst the other potential suitors, and they eventually come to the conclusion that big gestures are the way to win Cleo’s heart.

Clawdeen would try to ask her the natural way. She would start by taking Cleo out some place special, not too simple like Deuce nor too over-the-top like Frankie. They would go somewhere that has meaning to both of them in terms of the journey of their friendship. They’d spend the day together, laughing and having fun as they normally would. Then, at the end of the day, Clawdeen would confess her feelings for Cleo and tell her how much her relationship means to her. And then, finally, ask Cleo to be her date to Monster Ball.

Anyway, here’s my thoughts on each ship:

1. I haven’t been a fan of Cleuce in G1 and I don’t see them happening in G3. Granted, I haven’t seen every episode in the new G3 animation, but from what I have seen I don’t think they’ve ever interacted. And aside from that, I just don’t think their personalities are compatible.

2. I don’t really care for Cleo x Frankie either, and it’s not solely because I already ship Jackson x Frankie x Holt regardless of generation. Kinda like G3 Cleo and Deuce, I just haven’t seen Cleo and Frankie interact enough to want to see them together. I can see Frankie having a one-sided crush on Cleo, but that’s about it. Granted, I think my feelings for this pairing could potentially change depending on how the writers portray their relationship in future episodes. But as of now, not my cup of tea personally.

3. Y’all can probably tell Cleo x Clawdeen is my favorite. XD I love what we’ve seen so far of their friendship and they have great chemistry. The fact that G3 Cleo has an interest in humans sets them up to have a really interesting dynamic. And also I enjoyed seeing Cleo being so supportive of Clawdeen in “Case of the Moondays”.

First impression

I think it was love at first sight despite the initial frustration with his fight! I got chills when I saw him walking towards me in the dark and when I saw his crow garb….with the Cainhurst armor…I was quite enamored. It was like seeing a combination of Lady Maria and Eileen…which is still what I’m convinced FromSoft was going for.

Eileen calling him a “thing” in the English translation also gave me the impression that he was some unstoppable ancient terror and after he kicked my ass for the 100th time or whatever, I definitely felt like that was true, haha.

He is my son that I adopted and I think he deserves the world <3

Ok, in all seriousness, he is really just my favorite character to develop and think about. His visual appearance and in-game inventory alone is enough to fuel tons of theories and story ideas. I don’t know what it is, but so many different interpretations can work for him, and I find them all compelling.

There’s this tiny moment when you are first walking through the doors to fight him where his cape glitches and is sticking way out like proper wings and then when you get closer, it falls back into place. It makes me laugh every time because it just looks so funny.

Besides that and his whole fight in general, I am obsessed with this scene of him from Fieldhouz’s mini film series about his origins. Just this opening sequence gives me chills.

I know it’s kinda cheating because this isn’t in-game, but I will take any opportunity to rave about this mini series on Crow. This one and the one just before it have some incredible moments. They really inspired me.

Idea for a story

Well, I’m still working on my origin fic for him, Christened in Blood, so I guess you could call that one big story idea, haha. Basically the whole idea of him being a lost Cainhurst noble alongside Maria and both of them taking very different paths in their lives, ending up in very tragic places is…my all-time favorite story idea. I can’t wait to write it all.

If he met Alfred, he would kill him instantly and there would be no sexual tension lmao. (Sorry guys!)

Favorite relationship

I headcanon him to have deep relationships with Maria, Eileen, and Annalise respectively, and my favorite of them all is the potential mother figure/adopted son relationship he could have with Eileen. I see so many instances of the “emotionally distant, badass dad, and his adopted, unhinged daughter” trope in media, but I rarely see the same dynamic with mothers and sons, so I really projected it onto Eileen and Bloody Crow, which made for some lovely angst ;-;

Favorite headcanon

Besides the thing with Eileen being like his surrogate mother, I am still obsessed with the HC that he was Maria’s younger brother. It’s such an intriguing idea, and I love the possible connections like him being the only hunter in-game, apart from the dream, to use the Hunter’s Bone, which we all think was Maria’s. I love gruesome sibling angst!

Just to begin, nezukos design already checks a lot of boxes for me:

- multi colored hair

- purple/pink/orange/red color scheme (she looks like a sunset :])

- The long socks/legs wraps (idk the correct term sry)

- Fangs and claws and cat eyes >:3c

- Star-like pattern on her kimono

I also really like her voice. (Tho I Adore all the voice acting in kny. It never misses) I think Akari Kito does a really good job at differentiating her human and demon mannerisms, even if most of the time it’s just conveyed through muffled hums and grunts. She does an amazing job where it really counts ESPECIALLY especially especially in ep 7 season 2. Not to fangirl but Oh my god I don’t think I’ve ever anticipated anything more in my life. You have No idea how excited I was for the ep to drop. Every week I was just counting down the eps, trying to predict what weekend it release. And it was so worth the wait. It was. SO GOOD. The animation was amazing, the score never missed a beat (i already have a whole ramble talking abt the ost in that one scene), and the voice acting was perfect on all ends. I will always love how Akari Kito lowered her voice to better fit the berserker nezuko persona. I love how ufotable added these nice little details that helped each scene transition so nicely. The sound design was so good. Words cant describe how much adrenaline was running through my body while watching all that! And I know that sounds weird, being that excited abt a single ep, but I had been waiting for that for years dude. And, the idea that it would drop almost didn’t seem real. Nezuko vs Daki is probably one of my favorite fights in the series! From the initial reveal to when nezuko falls asleep, I adore the way it develops nezuko and tackles the issues around being a demon that I was hoping would be addressed! How despite her initial intentions, strong emotions can block out reason and thought, and cause yourself to become blindsided from logic. And in this case, it let’s her demonic tendencies take control. It’s. SO INTERESTING AHH.

and while i love all that potential for her character set up that ep, i don’t like how berserker Nezuko was handled later. As in how after the RLD arc, berserker nezuko is not really addressed again despite what almost happened. And when she does come back she’s perfectly fine and in complete control and tanjiro doesn’t seem worried at all despite the fact that the last time he saw his sister like that he had to restrain her from trying to eat someone. But never mind that, I don't want to be bitter. My point is that I really really like that ep and what it sets up for nezukos character (even if what was set up was not acted upon as much as I hoped it would be later) and it will always have a special place in my heart.

And on the topic of fights, I also think her fighting style is super cool and fun to watch (and this is aided by the beautiful animation). It helps her stand out from the rest of the cast in which a majority fight with swords. And, I also think her not talking is an important character trait. Because with a main cast of 4, 3 of which are all varying levels of loud, having nezuko not talk helps her stand out in a group that is constantly yelling. And all of this holds up for me despite having an au entirely focused on if she could talk. that is purely for my self indulgence <:D.

Ok so. Want to address something that is always kinda a constant “Elephant in the Room” for me because, as a character in the story of kny, if I’m being honest with myself, most of my interest in nezuko doesn’t come from the actual story we’re given. Hell, my favorite dynamic is the nezuko and makomo friendship we see in the side series and it’s not even canon nor ever could be :,) (read kimetsu academy). Dont get me wrong tho, i get so happy any time i see nezuko. i cant think of a moment in the series where i wasn't happy to see her on screen. But, compared to other characters, especially as secondary main character, her development is harder to follow. That doesn’t mean there isn’t any tho, she’s just kinda, sidelined. And since she doesn’t speak, it means development she does get isn’t spoken, which I think is both consistent with her character while also being sort of a detriment.

Ok so, initially this next section was a 5+ paragraph ramble that I decided was too negative to keep in and could honestly be it’s own post. and on top of all that was. kinda hard to follow. I don’t want this to be a critique of the series, I want it to be abt why I like it :D. So to put this short a sweet, a lot of questions i had weren’t given a lot of attention. Or, weren’t always handled amazingly <:). i.e Berserker Nezuko. because the thing is, Nezukos story has a really really intriguing beginning. You're left there asking so many questions. Is nezuko going to be able to stay in control of herself? How is she going to ensure that? Can she talk without the muzzle? How is Tanjiro going to handle not being able to interact with his sister? How is she going to react to other people? How are they going to turn her human? Does she need to eat? Does she remember what happened to her family?

So asking all this, a lot of my thoughts are more inspired by what could have been, or trying to interpret or expand on moments we are given. And, fun fact, on the side Ive actually been taking the time to write out and reason why nezuko is the way she is because I’m. Just like that I guess! Not everything needs an answer, but I like to try and connect dots where I can and come up with an answer myself. Cuz something I always address when talking abt nezuko was how underutilized she was. And while just spatting a doc full of head-cannon info is one thing, (which will probably never see the light of day because. My god that thing is a transcription directly from my under stimulated school brain and is therefore incomprehensible) it’s more fun to think abt this info being conveyed through the story. And on that note, here are a few plot points that the series sets up that I think could have been neat and given Nezuko more meaningful screen time!

- more talk with Tamayo and demon biology. I think it’s super interesting and could lead to some interesting conversation and an explanation for beserker Nezuko. (Because if I’m genuinely bitter abt anything it’s the beserker nezuko plot line). I also like Tamayo and sad we didn’t get see her that much. Tanjiro is the Concerned Older Brother I and I feel he would have questions to ask, especially after the RDL arc.

- More downtime focus between her and tanjiro. (This is a Big one for me I think abt it A Lot). We get hints of it like after Mugen Train and I think could have been really interesting to see how the two communicate despite their circumstances. we also get a bit between them in the side stories with that flower short and i literally cried when i read that. :’) i want more content of them so badly

- A nezuko arc that covers the time when tanjiro and the rest of the gang are recovering from the events of the entertainment district. I wanna know what was she up to! (I do have wip a comic written and sketched abt this exact question but. Motivation is a bitch </3)

- Nezuko and zenitsu. I’m so sad the anime cut what little bit we had in the manga I wanna see them hanging out in a flower field being friends. It would make their end game seem more, natural, seeing we don’t get a lot of content about them vibing sunrise countdown. - More interaction with the pillars. Maybe not with nezuko specifically but I just want more pillar content outside of battle, maybe with some focus on the enigma that is Nezuko. how having a demon in the corps affects their moral codes a whatnot.

- I wanna see Inosuke and Nezuko fight together. I feel their fighting styles would complement each other well

- NEZUKO AND GENYA. The two foils should have been allowed to interact together after the swordsmith village. It could give Nezuko an opportunity to talk more now that she can. I feel nezuko and Genya are really similar not just in abilities (and yknow. Being foils and all) but personality. It could be an opportunity for her to finally share how she feels about being a demon with someone who also knows how it feels. There’s. SO much potential ough.

(i would expand on these ideas myself in this post but my brain does not organize like that so </3. i love to think abt nezuko as a character A Lot, but putting those thoughts down in a coherent manner takes a lot of effort for me, so if i ever do they would be their own posts.)

but either way, I go crazy when people make Nezuko content especially around concepts like these. they are so much fun to interact with. But. Yeah, Nezuko gets side lined a lot in kny, and despite that she’s still my fav because she had so much potential. But kny is a shorter series with not a lot of in-between fluff, especially in the later chapters, so ofc not everything would have time to be addressed. I just think it’s fun to, instead of being upset at this, just make what I wanted to see, and look for content by others to see how they interpret the character. Because people have such good ideas. there are a lot of cool people in this fandom and I’m happy to be apart of it :D

alright that’s h’aanit’s chapter 2 done! it’s opinions time

keeping in mind that this is very much subject to change as I progress further in the game

primrose - HI PRIMROSE AZELHART I LOVE YOU PRIMROSE AZELHART.. her chapters make me uncomfy sometimes but she makes up for it by being SUCH a good character with such a good story and have I every told you just how much I love women? so yeah. primrose, the EVER

ophilia - starter bias, but also I’ve warmed up to her as a character so much… the story itself hasn’t given her too much time to be that interesting, but in my head, based on her history, she has SO much potential and I dunno I just like her, she’s nice.. also her banters with prim…… you already know how much I like them by now though I feel ehe

cyrus - blood cults? already? alright you have my attention. the CONSTANT joking about how he’s oblivious to women is kinda annoying, like sure once or twice whatever it can be funny, but they joke about it so much… after persona 5 though I’m surprisingly tolerant of this stuff (somehow), and am enjoying the horrific nature of the story itself so far

olberic - PLEASE don’t perpetuate the cycle of revenge you have so much potential and I wanna see an interesting dynamic with erhardt not just a vengeance plot.. regardless of what happens, I’m enjoying his story so far, and have high hopes.. also, cecily <33

therion - sorry to put your favorite guy so low here bestie, but so far his story is a liiiittle flat for my tastes. I have high hopes for it, and there’s some intrigue there, but for now, it’s. pretty simple

alfyn - it’s the whimsy, he reminds me of castti but much less violent and much more whimsy, also the SAXOPHONE HELLO.. so far, it’s pretty simple, but it’s a nice, relaxing simple

tressa - I love her and her chapter 2 had me grinning from ear to ear, but she suffers from the same problem partitio’s story suffered from for me, I’m just not as engaged in it as I am for other characters’ stories so far

h’aanit - I have nothing against h’aanit, and her story is very interesting so far, but the dialogue falls so flat for me… most of it isn’t even dialogue, it’s just h’aanit monologuing to linde or hägen… which is fine, but the best moments for her, at least for me so far, are the ones where she has a back and forth with another character- I dunno that’s probably just my opinion, or maybe me playing her chapter 2 a bit tired is doing her a disservice…. but the intrigue is still there I swear!

aaaand there you have it, mayhaps I’ll do this again once I finish the chapter 3s. we’ll see

Hi Abby, I realy like your stories, you are one of the reasons I decided to share my stories here too ♡ Could you give me some tips on how to write (and maybe share your thoughts on my story please)? I started with Hannibal, I think it is a good show for your dark fics too. Have a nice day ☆☆☆

I can’t even put into words how this makes me feel. For years i’ve had inspirations from other authors and little writers who have brought me to where I am today, to the choices of my career and what I’m studying in college. To be a small piece of that for someone else? Its honestly left me breathless in the most prettiest way.

Now, what I’ll say might not be what you’re looking for, but its the truth for a lot. A cliché because that’s how they work. Writing is a craft, a craft you can only perfect in a way that’s personal, a way that’s yours. No one will be ever fully able to tell you how to write; but they can advise you on what might help guide you to write.

It’s taken me so long to reach where I am in my writing and even then I’m still not close to reaching my full potential, I never will, really. With each piece you write, no matter how long - even a simple sentence - you grow your craft, develop your writing. Any case, here’s some things i’ve realized so far in my short journey as a writer:

1. Probably most cliché of all: you’re already a writer. You’ve written a sentence? Congratulations, you’ve done what a writer does. Now, that’s not me putting down the hard work authors do to create their art, it’s the fact that you’ve tried. You put in effort, work, and love. That’s what a writer does.

2. Writers block will always happen, no one’s able to avoid it, it will happen to you. Now, there’s no concrete solution to get rid of it, even as i’m typing this I’m fighting a large writers block. This is because there’s so many possible causes that lead to you’re writers block. However you can attempt to treat it, little things to make it less harsh. Go back to your roots, what brought you to loving writing in the first place.

- Share your work with people you love.

- Play music that just hits, that makes you want to write something based on it.

- Watch your favorite movies and tv shows.

- Most important, don’t force it, don’t make yourself lose your love for writing, it’s okay to take a break and give yourself the space you need to write again.

3. Never pressure yourself, if you’ve noticed something is pressuring you with writing, immediately take a step back. Writing is supposed to be a safe space, a creative outlet. Don’t let whatever is pressuring you to destroy that peace.

4. Never let online posting scare you out of sharing your work. At the end of the day that piece of writing is yours. It’s your baby, your pride, and never let someone ruin it for you. Don’t let interaction discourage you, because one loving person who’s thoroughly enjoying your writing is better than thousands of empty likes, and sometimes that one person ends up being you. If you need to, think of your online postings as an archive, a place to keep your precious artwork.

5. Your writings gonna change, it will never stay the same, don’t let that scare you. The change can happen fast and for different reasons, but it’s a good thing, I promise. It means you’re learning, growing. The change can happen especially fast when you’re getting used to posting online when it’s something new for you. While I was writing Heart to Heart I would go back to the first chapter after each new chapter - kinda a bad thing for me, it scared me seeing how different it was, it made me feel inconsistent when in reality I was growing into my writing.

6. There’s no one way to write or to make yourself write. This is one part no one can truly guide you on, it’s something you mess around with to find what works for you. Maybe you like to be messy, spur of the moment. Maybe you’re more neat, consistent. While writing Heart to Heart? I was a mess. I had a single notebook dedicated it, scribbled with useless notes and ideas, some even written sideways on the page - I didn’t even use half the ideas because they contradicted other points! Sometimes you might just need a space to throw your ideas even if they’re a weird garbled mess, just to get it out there to organize at a later date.

7. Don’t be afraid to leave stuff out, you don’t have to use every single idea, sometimes they just don’t work with that particular piece. Save it for a rainy day.

8. Don’t be afraid to move on. As you grow as a writer you also grow away from your routes and interests. This one can be the hardest, you will lose some readers and that’s okay, hopefully they’ll find what they need from a different writer as you gain new ones. It’s better you let it go when you’ve given it your best than to hold on and ruin a relic of something you once loved. (i’m sorry my john wick readers)

Your writing is beautiful, I was so excited to read it that I read over it twice while I was on the bus to work, haha. Please, keep posting, whatever type of content it maybe, as long as you enjoy doing it. I’ve followed you because I’m excited to watch you grow as a writer, excited that I’ve found someone who has a passion. Reach out for any and everything, I want to be there for it all, even if it’s something as minor as editing! I’m sorry this is so long, I got carried away haha. Welcome to posting and may you have the greatest time!

Ships I Like:

• Shinouma (Kokichi x Korekiyo) - holds these guys up to you and swings them around like pathetic little ferrets. the idea of them together is so funny and sweet to me. like - the struggle for dominance between them would be SO real…… Kokichi constantly bugs him ‘cause he wants Kiyo’s attention…….Kiyo tells him stories, and Kokichi pretends not to be interested, but really he’s sitting there listening to every word like 👁️👁️…… Ugh okay just THINK of all the possibilities for smarmy little quips and back-and-forth dialogue between them!!!!! they’d be INSUFFERABLE AND I ADORE THEM IMMENSELY!!!!

• Momoguji (Kaito x Korekiyo) - 👉👈 what if I put my two favorite v3 characters into a ship and then never shut up about it forever and ever and ever??? no listen to me they’re so good. Kaito initially overlooks him because he’s more drawn to classmates like Kaede, Shuichi, & Maki, but once he gets to know him a little more…….GOD. Kiyo saying one (1) thing that makes the alarm bells in Kaito’s head go off and the astronaut is straight up just “WELP. TIME TO ADOPT ANOTHER EMO.” and then he does <3 Kaito wanting to save him……Kiyo not realizing he needs to be saved, but secretly wanting it anyway…….oh they make me absolutely INSANE. and also just - the idea of Kiyo wanting to take away Kaito’s pain, too. Kaito is so selfless and loves people with his whole heart, and Kiyo just wishes he could be half as kind as Kaito is………plus there’s the idea of kiyo already being accustomed to loving (or, well, “loving”) someone with terminal illness which can make for some VERY good angst potential and trauma re-triggering ehehehe

• Kiyoumota (Kokichi x Korekiyo x Kaito) - LISTEN TO MEEEE they’re great on their own but TOGETHER????? oh I am SO WEAK!!!!!! the love the love the love - the complication of it all, the everpresent conflict and comfort from both sides, a constant quarreling from a place of softness and adoration and vulnerability!!!!! it is a PERFECT BALANCE, I tell you!!! Korekiyo mediates arguments between Kokichi and Kaito so that they don’t accidentally go too far (insert auspistice joke here I guess. ….sorry), Kaito uplifts Kokichi’s & Kiyo’s spirits by making them both see how wanted they are and how much he loves them, how strong they both really are……and Kokichi is the grounding force, the one that keeps the bad thoughts from spiraling and going too far, the one who will distract, who doesn’t mind making his lovers upset with him so long as it means he can take away the pain and numb it for a little while. oh anon, when I tell you I ABSOLUTELY LOVE them!!!!!!!!!

• Korekuwata (Korekiyo x Leon) - ……I don’t have an excuse this is just me being insufferable sorry. I love these two because I am insane and they’re both my favorite little guys. I can see them sorta trauma bonding and just becoming such important people in the other one’s life because like……opposites attract kinda deal, y’know? like. Leon is so passionate, so fiery - but still sweet, still helpful; would want to make his presence known if there was something he could help resolve. And Kiyo is so thoughtful and can push his own emotions aside to rationalize the possible outcomes of a situation, can calm someone down if he cares for them enough…….listen I just think they’d enjoy each other’s company and everyone around them would just kinda be like “hey what the fuck”

• Korekiyo x Nagito - UM!!!!!! hi I’m insane. they read books together and love it when the other one rambles or infodumps to them <3 they’re both astounded that the other one can have such a negative self-image because all they can see is someone truly beautiful, someone brimming with hope, someone worthy of so much more love than they could ever ever give!!! they are kissing and making out sloppy style and conducting social experiments on their peers thank u for coming to my ted talk

• Korekiyo x Byakuya - these two are just. kissing with tongue I think. like. Korekiyo badgers him with anthropological questions and moral quandaries and Byakuya just. [grabs him by the collar] “stop being so pretty before I bring hell down upon you so help me GOD.” and Kiyo just thinks it’s funny and finds it flattering. like ough listen Kiyo would want to study him soooooo bad. and Byakuya would find him tolerable, because at least he’s well-read and understands the concept of personal space JSVSNDNDN and. just. they both repress themselves so much that I think at some point it just boils over and they end up sticking their tongues down each other’s throats.

• Fujiguji (Chihiro x Korekiyo) - genderweird couple my beloved ❤️

• Ryoma x Korekiyo - something something lonely people something something outcasts of society finding solace with one another (also. korekiyo has cat vibes. tell me I’m wrong I DARE you. Ryoma would get to know his stupid ass and be like “ohhhh I get it now. goddamn it. son of a bitch.” and has to resist the urge to pet him whenever he’s given any sort of height advantage or anything teehee)

• Kazukiyo (Kazuichi x Korekiyo) - I took part in one (1) danganronpa roleplay server and this relationship ended up budding…….i was not normal about it then and I am still not normal about it now <3

Ships I’m Neutral Towards:

• Shinsai (Korekiyo x Shuichi) - eh. just not my thing, I think. plus, I have other ships for both of them that I heavily prefer, which might be a factor in why it’s so ‘meh’ for me.

• Korekiibo (Korekiyo x Kiibo) - I find myself wanting to like this ship more than I actually do tbh?? like. I feel like there’s so much potential here. but tbh I have a bit of a difficult time connecting with Kiibo as a character anyway, so maybe that’s why it’s not a huge pull for me?

• Tanakiyo (Gundham x Korekiyo) - ok. this one’s growing on me I think. the little art that this ship has is absolutely BANGER. I think it’s just difficult for me to picture a scenario in which they’d actually like………interact with one another or develop feelings. then again……..kiyo wanting to study the strange and silly occult dude who speaks in riddles and tells everyone he’s from hell………👀

• Gontaguuji (Gonta x Korekiyo) - I used to be obsessed with these two actually <3 not super sure why I’m not as into it anymore? Guessing my tastes have just changed :p

Ships I Hate/Dislike:

• Kirukiyo (Kirumi x Korekiyo) - conflicts with my personal headcanons for the characters; just not my thing.

• Amaguji (Rantaro x Korekiyo) - hooooo boy I can already tell I’m gonna get a lot of flak for this one. it makes me ridiculously uncomfortable. The only two interactions that come to mind when I think of these two in-game is the one where Rantaro tells Kaede that Kiyo “isn’t that bad” once you get to know him a bit, which is fine, and then also the……….*shudders* UTDP interaction between them. y’know, the one where they talk about their sisters together 💀 I just find it reallllyyyyyy sus and I do not like the idea of rantaro’s relationship with his sisters being compared in any way, shape, or form to the literal incestuous rape and grooming that is Kiyo’s shitshow of a backstory.

• Shinnaga (Angie x Korekiyo) - another cold ass take I know, but. they literally do not even like each other as friends in-game. Kiyo’s smart enough to know what she’s up to, and Angie’s smart enough to be able to recognize that from a mile away - he wants to study her, but she knows it would be dangerous for her credibility, so she refuses to allow him to worship with her for the sake of research. She intentionally closes herself off from him and becomes guarded, wary - it’s not this cutesy, hanging-off-his-arm-and-annoying-him type relationship that fanon seems to have built up out of nowhere for them; they legitimately regard one another as a threat. Also, I’m just not a huge fan of killer/victim ships in the first place?? Like, yeah, I’ve got a few exceptions, but. these two are on the same level as Leosaya and Bandaid for me (which is to say, absolutely despised).

• Genocide Jill x Korekiyo - I mean. Do I really have to spell it out?? These are probably the two characters with the worst writing of the entire franchise, deliberately portraying marginalized groups as serial killers, and yet some people apparently????? ship them together??????? and make them a fucking serial killer tagteam power couple???????? literally fuck OFF I cannot trust ANYONE who can enjoy this ship with the canon characterizations

• Sister x Korekiyo - this isn’t even a ship it’s just incestuous grooming and abuse. like listen - it’s great to write fucked up content and all, but if you’re portraying them as being in a healthy, loving relationship and you don’t want to acknowledge the ugly reality of it then I truly do hate you with every fiber of my being and, once again, cannot trust you at all.

Omg hi howdy. Welcome back to a long essay featuring nothing groundbreaking whatsoever! Today we are going to be talking about Poker Face, the greatest show of all time. But more specifically, we're going to be talking about John-O.

For the uninformed-- John-O is a character featured briefly in the first episode of the series. He's only in two scenes but he sure is a silly little guy. Everyone loves John-O.

And upon my 17th rewatch, this time featuring my good friend @room215 , they pointed out that there seems to be a John-O-escue character in every single episode.

So we kept track of the John-O's. And now I'm going to be dissecting each one for no good reason.

Now there are no specific criteria for what makes a John-O. It's really just based on vibes. There are similar patterns between characters that are worth analyzing but for the most part you just know it when you see it.

I'll be talking about the first five episodes in this potentially very long post so grab yourself some popcorn and buckle up.

Oh and there will be spoilers. So go watch Poker Face if you haven't already, it's the best show ever actually.

Episode 1: Dead Man's Hand

John-O

BEHOLD! JOHN-O THE ORIGINAL!

There are definitely moments where I could get better pictures of him but I think this one is kinda perfect.

This is John-O. He is a silly little guy who has a history of stealing shit and breaking into places. He seems to be reformed because he states he "don't do this shit no more." So he is morally good. I trust him.

He's very silly and likes to add the suffix "-o" to the end of things he says. Like hey-o and good-o. He's just this goofy old man and his vibes are impeccable.

He's an ally to our friend Charlie Cale, helping her break into Nathalie's home despite his morals. He even offers to cut her in with his playboy sales. What a good guy.

Overall, John-O is a friend-o. He establishes our precedent of the "John-O character" being silly and the vibe that we're after.

Side Note: I love that Poker Face is an episodic show with a rotating cast of characters. It's seriously awesome and you don't see that shit often. However I am heartbroken at the loss of this man cause we probably won't see him again. It breaks my heart. I hope he's doing ok.

Episode 2: The Night Shift

"Meteor Shower" Trucker

Literally just this dude who is in one scene.

He is only here to tell Charlie about the meteor shower that evening. But he does it in the funniest fucking way imaginable. He literally gives Charlie a heart attack by just saying, "Meteor shower tonight." It's the funniest thing to me.

And I think about him way more often than I ought to. He's kinda skrunkly.

I said on the night during our analysis that he's cute in the same way on old man themed muppet is cute. Y'know? I feel like that makes some sense.

But yeah he's just here to be a jumpscare and tell Charlie about the Leonids. What a silly guy. I wish he was in more than one scene.

So far in our John-O analysis we have two quirky old dudes. The best kind of character imo.

Yeah I don't have much else to say on him </3

Episode 3: The Stall

Beto

Why does he look like that.

Anyways yeah, Beto is the John-O of episode 3. I do think he is pushing the amount of scenes a John-O can be in but it's ok cause he's kinda silly. He's just doing his job, man.

Poor guy is the one who found George's body. He's probably gonna have some issues for a while.

He's got some silly interactions with Charlie and even though they're brief, they're fun.

I actually don't have a lot to say about this guy. Whoops. My bad.

But you may have noticed he is not a skrunkly old man. That is true! He is not that.

I will be grouping this dude into the category of, "Guy who is just doing their job" under the broader "John-O" umbrella.

None of those words were in the Bible, I don't think.

Anyways, that's Beto for ya. Now we get to move on to my favorite guy!

Episode 4: Rest In Metal

Guy Who Threw The Stapler

Why the fuck would he do that.

I don't even know I can classify him as a John-O character but oh my god I think about him so much. Literally what is his deal, why the hell would he do this.

He is just here to throw a stapler at Gavin and whoop and holler. That's so fucking awesome.

That's all he does so I don't exactly know what else to say about him but I will add this:

My friends and I have been saying, "aREN'T YOU THE BAND THAT DOES STAPLEHEAD??? PLAY STAPLEHEAD!!!!!!!" to each other in the most man baby-escue voices possible for days now. It's the funniest thing on the planet.

*hits you with a stapler*

Episode 5: Time of the Monkey

Gino the Bull

This random guy in Howard Wolowitz's car.

He meets the flexible criteria of being a skrunkly old man so he gets points for that, for sure. ALSO HE'S KINDA SILLY?

He's just in the car being a silly goofy guy. These dissections are getting shorter and also worse. My bad guys, I'm really tired. Been staying up watching too much Poker Face B).

Anyways yeah, I don't know what his deal is. Very important to be a John-O, you just don't know what their fucking deal is.

I wanna say Gino the Bull is some kind of mafia/mob man? I dunno. I think it'd be funny if that were the case. That's my head canon at least.

So now we have three skrunkly old dudes, one man baby, and one Beto. Awesome.

Conclusion

I'm gonna cut this one of here before it gets too terribly long. Mainly so I can just get this posted. But also I imagine this shit is quite the long read.

Nami’s 2023 Fandom Goals

Oooookay I am putting this out into the Tumblr void for some semblance of accountability because I usually tell my family my goals but unfortunately they do not know about the whole “writing gay smut” thing. (With the exception of my spouse, who knows all my secrets and then some, and gets both my regular goals and my fandom goals!)

Writing goals

1. Finish my first completed book-length fic! An easy goal to start with because I’m 1 chapter away from a finished draft of Trace a Line for @amywaterwings :) It’s looking to be about 50-55k when it’s done.

2. Get the bulk of my wips posted, even if they’re unfinished! I spent an hour tallying it all up and I have OVER 250k of UNPUBLISHED words. Unpublished!!! I want to edit, polish, and post as much of it as I can, and let readers choose whether they want to read something with an undetermined completion date or not. (I plan to complete all of them eventually, but with so many wips I have to pick and choose which to prioritize.) Anyway there’s lots of stuff in there, for like 5 different fandoms. Should be fun:)

3. Finish my 2021 COBB!! (Love Laid Bare). Well, finishing is a potentially-too-ambitious goal for one year because the outline is shaping up to be a 90k fic, but I’d like to at least make some significant progress toward completing it. I’ve been postponing because the early parts need some major reworking. But compared to two years ago, I feel I have enough energy, time, and skill now to tackle it and fix the problem spots.

Reading goals

1. Leave more comments! I’m going to try to comment on every fic I read. Might miss a few but I’m going to try!! A related goal is to be less self-conscious about comments, too. Some of them are going to be rambly and maybe I will scare some authors. Some of them might just be strings of emoji or keysmash. But the point is that I’m going to leave more comments!

2. Download my all time favorite fics, format them w/ pretty covers, and save them to my Kindle. I’ve already done this with a lot of them but I’m still missing a bunch, so I want to finish this.

3. Make a dent in my marked for later?? Is this another too-ambitious goal?? Maybe. There’s hundreds of fics in there. HUNDREDS UPON HUNDREDS. Jesus christ I don’t even want to look at the number of pages it is. But I KNOW there’s some real gems in there so I’m going to finally read them! Or at least I am going to try!

Other goals

1. Do some digital drawing tutorials! I did art all the way through school, up through college (mostly watercolor landscapes and mixed media/abstract stuff) so I’m not completely inexperienced, but digital drawing has always felt awkward to me, and drawing people specifically is NOT something I am good at. (anatomy??? don’t know her.) So I’d like to get better at drawing people, and drawing them on my ipad. Simply for purposes of being able to put my blorbos and silly little guys in situations.

2. Participate more in fandom communities. I’ve been kinda MIA the last two years because I was really not in a good mental place for a really long time. 2022 was one of the most difficult years I’ve ever had. But things are looking up and I’m doing MILES better than this time last year so I have more social energy to spend, and I’d like to spend it on my fandom friends! so you may see me pop out of hiding in discord more often :)
