Aren’t there always? I’m personally very interested to see where this date leads Rowan and Charles–maybe he needs a friend on the force to make an honest man out of him? And I’m always interested in Noah and Catarina, of course–will they rekindle their romance at the upcoming Golightly gala, or are they doomed to remain exes with an unreasonable amount of sexual tension?

Feliks knew he needed to make a bigger effort with the new High Lady. He had been so busy cleaning up the mess from the wedding, that he hadn’t taken time to welcome her. He figured the holidays were as good a time as any. He had a necklace made, with some of his mother’s diamonds included and had it delivered to her rooms with this note.

Despite how much she enjoyed gift-giving, the prospect of sending a gift to a lord of the Night Court was daunting, particularly given how poorly Calliope’s chance meeting with the high lord had gone. Feliks Dyatlov was an impressive diplomat, so she hoped that the gift would adequately communicate the high regard the duchess held him in, and perhaps make him think cheerfully of spring every now and again. The potted rose was simply because she could never resist the chance to give a plant to someone she admired. A unique bloom, even by Spring Court’s standards, Calliope hoped that Lord Dyatlov would find the pastel flowers charming. With the plant, there was a parcel containing three small boxes. The first contained a green tourmaline ring, the second a white gold band. Where one was more gaudy, the other was a little more subdued. And finally, the third held a delicate pair of cufflinks.

The gifts chosen, that left the matter of the card. It took a dozen drafts before she settled on something that felt appropriate:

biography

adrik’s story begins not when he was born, but when his brother, feliks, was born. he was only two years old, but feliks’s smallness fascinated him to no end. once the boys started growing and competing, that fascination turned to resentment. their father, a powerful man with little care for his family, favored feliks, despite his many flaws. adrik strived to be the best first born he could possibly be, but it was never enough. they grew up in the time of ivan the great, and their family benefited from the many wars raged in russia. 

when adrik was two hundred two years old, feliks killed their father. it sent adrik into a rage, and as the new head of the family, started a year long bloodbath that plagued the city of moscow. after a year of violence, adrik settled down at the pleading of his mother and other family members. since then, he’s spent his time rebuilding the dyatlov empire, but has grown bored in russia. last he heard, feliks had made his way to amsterdam and joined the vampire court. something drew him there, even if he didn’t know what he would do with feliks once he found him. now, adrik is in amsterdam, working as a hitman for the vampire court.

Kael knew quite well what he was doing, when he chose to approach his former comrade at the gala. It wasn’t anything that Gabriel would have approved of, no doubt, for his king had little tolerance for traitors among their own kind. However, the vampire wasn’t as entirely convinced as his dear friend, in thinking that Feliks Dyatlov was someone to be erased from their collective memory. And given just who he fell into ranks with, it was certainly worth the attempt to squeeze him for whatever information he had available. 

“Awfully brave of you, showing your face around here tonight.” He drawled, leaning against the dealer’s table as they shuffled their cards for another rought of poker. Kael bought in, tossing a few chips as he shot a fanged smile towards Feliks. “But I suppose you must be lucky too; running into me instead of Gabriel. He’s already sour enough about having to leave his library for an iota of social interaction.“ Pausing a moment, he glanced at his cards. Nothing special, but it had given him a reason to strike up a converstation. “And you’re stunt with the humans? Iconic. I haven’t been that entertained in years, which is saying something for our kind.“

Folding his hand, the vampire quirked an eyebrow; offering a silent invitation. “Are you going to play? I imagine we’ve got some catching up to do, given how long you’ve been out of town.”

Like moths drawn to flame, the vampires seemed to all have come rushing from all sides of the court to find their way right in the middle of the action. Their idle hands no longer tied from the restrictions of acting like something they were not. At the root of it all, they were all violent creatures. As Adrienne pulled away from the neck of a human, she wiped her mouth with her arm, not caring if blood was smeared all over her. Between killing and feeding, who would have time to worry about ones appearance. This was natural for the creatures of the night, why fight it? Why run from the very thing that had made them different, made them better. 

Through hazy eyes, she saw him. It took her a moment for her to realize just who she saw. A ghost of a man she had once considered a friend. One that haunted the kingdom with his absence. She knew him once, Feliks Dyatlov, son of a nobleman. One of the many that Gabriel and Adrienne had managed to convince to be on their side to see Alejandro’s terror and reign come to an end. They were in the ranks together, being a noble was much more exciting. He hadn’t dared come back to the court for fifty years. Not after he left abruptly, denouncing his titles and his entire life he built behind. Now the only word that crossed her mind was coward. She had never understood how he could just leave the night court behind, severing ties with everyone he once knew without warning or hesitation. But a part of her felt like it was him running, and Adrienne thought the throne was better off without someone so fickle in the midst of the war.

Making her way over to him now, she could feel the anger boiling inside of her. “Dyatlov,” she spoke. “Perdóname, I distinctly remember your father saying he would have your head if you came back here,” Adrienne’s eyes narrowed, wondering if he was here for the boy king or if his interests lied elsewhere. “Perhaps you have a death wish. I personally cannot grant that to you, but being the traidor you are, you were smart in coming here. I bet there are more than a handful of vampires that want Feliks Dyatlov’s head.”

So here’s the story,

Feliks, born Feliks Maximillian Habsburg was the second son of the Archduke Maximillian of Austria, he is a cousin of Empress Elisabeth of Austria defected to Russia five years ago. He traveled to Russia to study in his twenties and there fell in love with the culture and the people. He had never felt at home in Austria and his mother’s uncle, a Russian duke and general, took Feliks under his wing. From there Feliks renounced his Austrian citizenship, took his great-uncle’s last name, Dyatlov, and became the heir to the Duchy of Krasnodar Krai, a region on the Black Sea east of Crimea. 

Feliks considers himself Russian and it loyal to Russia. He knows this decision hurt his family but it was the best one for him. He joined the Russian Army and rose to the rank of Major, both on his own merits and with the help of his uncle, now adopted father. While taking a few classes on military history Feliks met Princess Vasilisa. He fell in love with her and they married once she graduated.

Feliks is currently serving in Karelian, a war he has lost friends to and blames on Germany and Finland. 

He is caring and protective but also very dogmatic and unforgiving. Feliks is the logical one to Vaska dreamer, he is practical and loyal. He can be a little bit of a hothead, he feels badly about what he did to his family in Austrian and often uses angry to mask it. He’s also quieter than he used to be, he had experienced war up close under Karelian and he’s seen some shit. 

Feliks is in Oslo because he was injured, his convoy was blown up by an IED and his left side was badly injured. He is also there to help with battle plans, unofficially of course, officially he’s there to recover with his wife.
