Heyyyy everyone! I know it’s late but since I’m on nights I must apologize 🤣
First I wanna apologize for my slow updates this season. Starting a new job + dealing with the family (and an underwhelming season also) can take it out of you!
BUT since it’s Hockey Fights Cancer time, I figured this would be a good time to plug this Go Fund Me for my mom. She’s been fighting Triple Negative Breast Cancer for awhile now, and She’s officially transferred care to Fred Hutch in Seattle, but with the weather in winter, I’m trying to secure like a used outback or something she can use to get there (or I can use to get to work while she takes my car) She could use it, very badly. Cause me lending mine out without anything else is a hassle, let alone getting her other places. A share here or elsewhere even is a massive help.

I know this is entirely different from what I would normally post.
My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in February and it has been a tough journey for her and our family. She has started a gofundme for help with the medical bills that are adding up.
If you can find it in your heart to donate, any bit helps. I understand if you can’t, so if you would please share the link it would be much appreciated.

Thank you 🩷💕

The Pressure To Be Brave
"You Are So Brave!" How often have we heard this said to us? Most times, people truly mean well when they say this. They are doing their best to be encouraging from their perspective of things. However, for many of us who are surviving cancer daily, those four words are filled with so much pressure and expectation.
When people see us maintaining our lives, managing families, enduring all the craziness that comes with living with this disease, they see bravery! Well, there is truth to that. But the real truth is we are just giving our all to live every day and live our best! It takes a lot of work just to maintain our "normal" lives.
Am I a superhero?
Indeed, we are strong and courageous. We fight uncommon battles for our lives absolutely every day. However, knowing that people can see you as this 'cancer superhero' and being given this subconscious permission to be brave, #BeatCancer, #KickCancersButt, #FightLikeAGirl, and all the other awesome hashtags can be overwhelming!
We didn't choose this fight
We definitely appreciate the love and encouragement! But the reality is that some days we are just SICK! There is nothing we can do about it and to be honest, we don't even have the energy to do anything. We get weak. Not tired but fatigued; downright exhausted! We have mood swings. We battle depression and sometimes it actually fights back...and wins! LOL!!!!
We deal with feeling isolated and alone. We are oftentimes in pain. We are in agony, and it doesn't always go away. Some of us live in pain. We lose weight and we gain weight! We lose our hair, our precious hair! Until you have experienced this, you just have no idea what this does to someone. We think about our mortality more times than the average person does.
Tell me it's going to be okay!
So, it's not that we don't want to be told we are brave. Here is the thing, we know living with cancer requires a special measure of bravery. We know we are brave. But it would mean so much more if we heard, "It's going to be okay", "it's ok to feel how you are feeling", or "no matter how you feel today, I will be here to help and support you!"
Our loved ones believe they keep us strong by coaching us through this and pushing us. If they just speak positively and keep us thinking about how we "should" think then we will feel and live how we are supposed to. Please remember we are human beings with real feelings, who happen to be surviving cancer daily. Just let us be that that's how we are Brave!

October is breast cancer awareness month. Understand, women are not the only ones to get breast cancer. Men, if you feel a strange lump in your breast tissue see your doctor as soon as possible. Early detection is your best chance at beating breast cancer. Notice the skin for any changes like rashes that won't go away, discoloration with orange peel looking appearance, indentations, leaking from nipples, or nipples appear like they are starting to invert. For breast examination: 1) In the Shower With the pads/flats of your 3 middle fingers, check the entire breast and armpit area, pressing down with light, medium, and firm pressure. Check both breasts each month, feeling for any new lumps, thickenings, hardened knots, or any other breast changes.

george michael, who died seven years ago today, spent his life making private donations to organizations fighting AIDS, homelessness and poverty, including a donation to omwabini in west kenya that helped it grow to new heights. one story alleges he overheard a stranger in a cafe speaking of her debts and had a waitress give her a check he wrote for 25,000 pounds after he left. he anonymously volunteered at homeless shelters. he held a free concert for NHS nurses for his gratitude for his mother's care during her battle with breast cancer. sali hughes stated that he once tipped a barmaid five thousand pounds to help with her debts. he facilitated a trip for 250 disabled and terminally ill children to take a holiday vacation to lapland. when doing press for his big album drop for "older," he gave the exclusive to big issue, a paper devoted to helping unhoused people make income. he donated thousands to two separate women who he saw on television trying to pay for IVF -- one of them found out she was pregnant the day he died. radio dj mick brown said george quietly donated 100,000 pounds every easter to Help a London Child to support poor children.
these are only a few of the charitable acts he did. he did many of these things anonymously, intentionally so. but the thing is when you do so many things that touch so many lives, they tend to outlive you long after you're gone. i think of him every Christmas, and i wish he was still with us. but i'm glad we had him at all.
