My beautiful koi betta Bisby has had a jumping spider neighbor taking advantage of her tank light to hunt bugs under for some time, and recently they met face to face! Very happy to capture each of them acknowledging the other - and Bisby's quick look back at me as if to say "you're seeing this too right?!" 🧡
Edit ✨️ For all those concerned, yes, she does have a lid! I'd just cleaned and was hanging out right there where I filmed from at my office desk. If you are new to fish keeping, please invest in a good lid or when picking setups, favor tank kits that include one!
BUBBA SPRITES FROM RP AND!!!!!!!!!!!! JASON'S ADVENTURES FROM MY FISHTANK. (I HAVE A LITTLE FIGURE OF HIM IN MY FISHTANK AND THE ALGAE EATERS OFTEN SUCKLE UPON HIM FOR NUTRIENTS)
Happy New Year!
I'm so happy with how my nature aquarium is coming along. The Cryptocoryne retrospiralis and Eleocharis vivipara are providing a grassy backdrop which is punctuated by the Myriophyllum tuberculatum and other stems plants that are growing intermixed. The Bucephalandras have been flowering non-stop since they were added.
The white cloud minnows are also doing great, they are very active and colorful, and they have been spawning regularly. I love watching them swim around the tank and explore the different areas. They are such peaceful and hardy fish, perfect for an unheated setup.
My bristlenoses had babies in April. It was Peewee's first time being a mum and I really wanted to see what her offspring looked like. Dotty also had babies... Big Sook was a great dad and raised SO MANY.
Stress free method for catching baby bristlenoses.... BOTTLE TRAP. Peewee was determined she needed to go in the trap, too. She couldn't fit.
They then go into gay baby jail the fry container until it's time to transport them. It's filtered with the rest of the tank with bubbles for more circulation.
The babies are old enough now to go to the fish shop! 20 of them went to a friend who has a bunch of tanks (the ones in bags) and the rest are gonna be going to Fishkeeper Stirling at the weekend.
Hey y’all, good news! Ima be making my first ever aqua scaped tank, with live plants 🌱
Just went to the store and got the tank all that’s left now is to order everything else, aquarium plant substrate, the plants, drift wood, cleaning supplies a heater all that good stuff.
I also got this water conditioner, the employee recommended it and I got a little per pressured into buying it, I know some Betta fish water conditioners are sketchy, is this safe to use? Or should I buy another one?
Fish community and anyone who owns natural fish tanks I need assistance please 🙏
Next year I may attempt to start building myself a small aquarium (assuming my apartment allows for it with space and pet rules) if anyone has any information they'd like to share for first time fish owners and any webbed sites that would be lovely <3
I don't get to see my pygmy corydoras too often, as they are my nocturnal crew in my interspecies neon tetra tank, but every so often they do cute shit like hang out together on the anubias 🌿
