Sorry for the ask. My brain craves HTTYD-based interaction and the shadowban on my sideblog won’t be lifted for at least a month.

I think the first movie is so special in comparison to everything else. Not only because of Hiccup and Toothless, but because of the dragon riders. They all act so different — like Snotlout is sort of like the leader, Astrid gets along with the twins over the idea of getting a scar in training.

They all just seem to be pretending to be something to all fit in with one another (except, maybe, the twins? Maybe?) and I think one of the main reasons they reject Hiccup is not only because he’s a complete clutz (two left feet, that’s why he lost one) but also because he, too, is pretending… just not well enough. (This mostly goes for Astrid and Snotlout and a bit for the twins, arguably the only one nice to Hiccup is Fishlegs but he’s also pretending to hate dragons, so… I guess this also applies to him.) (I suppose the only one who ever never really dropped the act was Snotlout, which would be why he’s suddenly put in the underdog’s position in the group, even if it’s mostly just seen in the TV shows.)

(Plus, it’s the only one I haven’t got on DVD and I only rewatched it today when it was on TV exclusively for that minute long scene of Snotlout taming Hookfang because I couldn’t find a clip of it on YouTube. Really says a lot about me.)

Yeah. I just think the group dynamics in the first movie are very special. It (from dynamics and atmosphere) just feels so different to the rest of the franchise, including the other two films.

but no u have points abt the dynamics between the gang in the first movie. smth i noticed while rewatching it with some friends is in the beginning when snotlout is making fun of hiccup for messing up the raid through his wrecklessness (tee hee), snotlout after he gets shoved down by gobber, gets back up, and laughs, and looks to astrid. she was also smiling at him, as was fishlegs, as he & the twins made fun of & laughed at hiccup. and then they all just. move on & snotlout deflates

this tiny little smile says SOOOOOO much <3

smth tho i noticed u said is that snotlout is kind of the leader, however the film has astrid be at the center & front of the gang or them all looking to her or making sure she is the one they listen to bc she is the leader of the gang. she's THE ideal model viking bc she has to be. snotlout is the most vocal & the second best by far in training, & similar to how he is in the shows & other films he's pushing himself towards the front when he can to get the attention of others & be taken seriously or to be seen as another model viking (like impressing astrid)

there's an intimacy abt astrid & the gang in the first movie that just hasn't fully shown in the other two films or even the shows with tiny details of them fiddling in the background or even the foreground of a scene when someone else is talking & u see them interact. the great hall when tuffnut is playing with his knife before saying "wait? you mean READ?" astrid is amused by him playing with the knife.

but what you said abt them all pretending: they are. fishlegs is still seen as weird but he's friends & in with the gang. he loves dragon knowledge & knowing abt them, but it's for the art of the kill instead of simply knowing them as creatures. the twins love destruction but with all the talk of being on a team & working together with other vikings they bicker more with each other & end up not getting as far bc they get focused on their own shenanigans. snotlout is trying to show astrid he's the model viking & be a flirty teenage boy at the same time lmao. astrid is the one who changes first when everyone saw her as the most steadfast in her ways. The Viking Way™️.

snotlout in the shows becoming the "underdog" is bc he's not astrid, who learned & changed herself but now is such a tryhard she applies herself to the fullest extent in the opposite direction (i love her). fishlegs can actually enjoy dragons & learn abt them without having to fight them (he's the most skittish of the gang), the twins now have direct ways to blow things up & do their shenanigans (after also having learned to work in a team!!!) without worry of there being a war against the dragons (now just other ppl but ppl can't breathe fire... right? lmao). hiccup is the newest edition of the group, the circle, & now he's just?? the leader. they look to him now after snotlout did everything to get astrid & others attention. astrid is by hiccup's side 100% now & bites back at snotlout when she didn't before. snotlout has changed & loves hookfang, he loves dragons, but he doesn't want to change the Viking Way™️ he's known & tries to force the Old Ways™️ and New Ways™️ together in a way that moreso clashes. he wants to still be at the top but forces instead of working to his advantage. his jealousy of hiccup grows to a point where he's basically self destructing in acting out & causes (unintentional) harm to others but then brushes off the consequences of his actions. & then he learns. he's slower to the take, similar to the adults, but he's also got it more quickly than they ever could. he just hasn't stopped pretending like the other kids.

smth i love abt the first film is the explanation as to why the gang all have american/canadian accents (bc of jay baruchel lmao) vs the scottish accents of the adults. to show the generational difference. they are different from the adults & a very clear distinction is made by the accents of their voices. you can almost say hiccup having the most jarring of everyone's voice (so nasally & distinct) ties in with hiccup being the leader. he commands attention but not in the way that's expected. even "the more viking-like teens" (as gobber refers to them) have distinct voices & even if they're acting how the village expects.

it's not rlly them, is it? not fully at least.

guess sometimes you need a little guidance, & it can come from the most unexpected places. maybe someone who's been in a leader position can give you a little extra push

& even if you're afraid & don't adjust to the change 100%, you can start coming out of your shell & stop pretending. some stop pretending easier than others, & some ppl are stuck in a lot of their ways. but they still feel they can relax abt smth & stop pretending abt that.

it makes everyone happier, right? :)

Talk Shop Tuesday! You asked me a really really good question about my art style, so I'd like to bounce it back to you! Are there any specific influences on your art style and/or process that you can pinpoint? How do you feel you incorporate new information and techniques to your existing style?

And, of course, what do you like best about your art style?

yes, i really like this question! i like getting insights into one's artistic journey and what started it. so, speaking of mine, i was asking the same question and failing miserably at answering it. it just happened? and i went with it?

as for influences i don't think it was any particular media, tho i have been getting quite a few comments that my artstyle (especially in traditional) reminds people of illustrations from various books. and the thing is yes, i can see that, i love illustrations that are done in ink, i did take a lot of inspiration from artists with similar styles and used their art as references when i liked something about it or the way they draw a certain thing. so i guess that's where it all originated and came together.

there's one influence of which im not 100% certainly about but i really really liked How To Train Your Dragon books as a kid and i always loved illustrations in it and how messy and unflattering yet compelling they looked. when i default to drawing characters in a very simplified manner i think there is a slight similarity or, at very least, similar vibe that could be noticed

tho i specifically remember the turning point in drawing eyes, when i decided to stuck with only upper eyelid and the iris after noticing how many other professional artists simplify eyes in their quick sketches or figure drawings, where eyes are not a focal point but they still communicate emotions just as well and look coherent with the rest of a drawing. i just really like how it looked so i adopted it, plus drawing just two dots is fun.

i wouldn't say i learn a bunch of techniques, im still intimidated by actual hatching and learning process for that, im definitely not a jack of all trades when it comes to mediums and art tools. that said, the easiest (for me) way of incorporating something new is by drawing something one time but as detailed as possible and then finding ways to stylise or simplify it in the future. mostly i use it for character designs but it works with a lot of other things too.

and to round it up, i'd say the thing that i like about my artstyle the most is that it has a good balance between being realistic and stylised. it's versatile and gives me a certain freedom to be as detailed or not with what i draw but also doesn't limits me to drawing just one thing (my hyperfixation does). also i think it became somewhat consistent and recognisable in the past few years so that's also a nice thing to have

So the main ship would be hiccstrid and while hiccup isn’t a “beast” per say the difference is,

“the chief had made a horrible mistake. He had tried to cut down a light fury. She was freyja in disguise and cursed all the riders (except Astrid and snot loud tbe later) as kids to be trapped in a castle (where they befriended dragons) until someone could learn to love a dragon AND the chief’s son genuinely…” (not the light fury trying to get hiccup a date lol)

snotlout is the best friend and only friend of Astrid and he likes hearing her tell him stories and they protect each other like siblings! Especially against Eret son of Eret, the self proclaimed “promised child” of berk. Man picked up a sidekick (Gustav) and is trying to get Astrid to marry him lmao

also the relationship between heather and David would be brother and sister, not mother and son.

the second ship would be a bit of a slow burn rufflout that comes to fruition by the song “evermore” or “tale as old as time”

the village plot is to “kill the beasts” they’re after all the dragons in the castle but mainly Hookfang and toothless because of their species…

I chose cogsworth for fish legs for obvious reasons, being very smart and mistrusting of Astrid and her nature at first but eventually warming up to her.

and tiff it as Chadwick…. I mean COME ON! Man is dramatic as shit! Also the whole “be our guest song with him singing it is just… *chef kiss* (ha I’m funny)

oh and valka is kinda x-x

but hey! She can still talk to him! Through a life sized mirror!

I’m also thinking about giving Eref a last minute redemption arc at the very end… when a certain rumblehorn saves his life…

so anyway… that’s my idea lmao

oooo i love that idea actually, the riders just getting trapped in a dragon-infested castle while astrid and snotlout try to figure out what is going on

also my boy eret being a bit of a cocky bastard with gustav running around behind him is so funny to me (I hope u go with the idea of a redemption arc cos he really would need it lol)

this has a lot of interesting ideas to play around with especially for all the character dynamics (ahhhhhh I cant wait for the dynamics (can you tell))

My review of;

I've seen almost nothing but hate up to this show's release, just because it's a continuation of HttyD that doesn't have the absolute best animation.

Granted it also takes place in the modern day so it doesn't feel nearly as much like the original trilogy but there's nothing wrong with having a new take on stories.

I decided to give my opinion on this show because I just watched it and I'm just gonna say it... I really liked it.

Quality

Like I said, the animation isn't amazing and I've seen people voice their dislike for that because they think DreamWorks is a multimillion dollar company.

Disney is the multimillion company. DreamWorks has been having money troubles since 2013.

It's only still prominent to us because the success of HttyD, Kung Fu Panda and Shrek.

As long as you can look past the animation quality then you're golden because the story in this show is actually pretty charming. Sure the cliché tale about teens who need to keep something a secret but you can tell it's not because they don't trust their parents.

I'm gonna try not to give any spoilers but let's just say that Tom (the main character) talks to his mom about the company she works for. It shows how he and his mom love to discover and study but how the company would exploit it to make money and it shows that they both have a distaste for that.

So they trust their parents, just not the company.

Characters

This show has some great representation as well. There are a lot of poc characters, a disabled character, a mixed couple who are also a gay couple, we stan.

And I love the designs of the dragons. If you have a problem with barely seeing dragons we recognize, it's super easy to sum up that the dragons we're familiar with were only common around the archipelago.

The Hidden World runs all throughout all of Earth, it's most likely there are just completely different dragons in different places.

Jun (girl in purple) is Chinese and her dragon is heavily designed from the dragons of Chinese culture. Her dragon is a two headed one that breaths fire and ice which is most likely a reference to how Chinese dragons are known for being water based. Plus the red and blue colors being connected by gold is just really pretty.

Alex (girl in overalls) I believe is Hispanic and her dragon –as she explains in the show– is designed off of a legend called the Quetzalcoatl.

D'Angelo (green vest) is kinda like a mix between Snotlout and Fishlegs. He's kinda a jock and adventurer but he's also a gentle soul who prefers to follow the rules and knows how to take care of animals. In fact that's why Tom and Jun told him about dragons in the first place.

None of these teens are instantly friends (except for Tom and Jun because they knew each other as kids). D'Angelo is brought in on the secret because the dragon he ends up bonding with, was injured and Tom and Jun didn't know how to help. And Alex was only brought on because of an accident.

They didn't even really become fully fledged friends by the end of the season. They're buddies because they bonded with these dragons but that's about it. It's most likely gonna get a second season (if the very ending is anything to go by) for them to grow but the pacing of this show is actually pretty good. The teens were kinda disconnected in the beginning so they're not gonna leave their shells in just a few days.

Plot

The bonding of the dragons is pretty well done too. They don't take super long to bond with each person like how Hiccup and Toothless take half the movie but as the characters themselves state in this: the dragons are pretty trusting. Most likely that dragons were in hiding for so long that they forgot how dangerous humans can be.

Tom and Thunder are both adventurers who like to discover new things and search for more. Jun bonded with Wu/Wei through her desire to know more about the mystical as well as the dragons reminding her of tales from her culture. D'Angelo and Plowhorn bond through him helping her while she was hurt, as well as their gentle nature. And Feathers actually bonds with Alex first because she saw how lonely Alex was. She even kinda helped Alex deal with some PTSD that made her scared of going outside.

So while the bondings may come across as fast to some, it's not poorly set up either. It's quick but it never feels rushed. They're believable and genuinely cute.

How to Train Your Dragon

They actually manage to give a handful of references to the franchise without it coming across as pandering.

Like the opening of the first episode is a book opening with illustrations of Hiccup and Toothless, along with Hiccup's map. Plus familiar images and the "that's for scaring me," line. None of it feels forced.

Also the fact that Tom is actually, most likely a descendant of Hiccup because he mentions that he and his mom are descendants of Vikings.

Plus his mom calls him boyo, it's adorable.

Also (and this is on the HttyD wiki) Tom's last name "Kullersen" in danish, translates to son of Haddock. I can't-

I'm kinda just gushing now so...

In Conclusion

I'd rate this show a 6 out of 10.

The plot isn't revolutionary but it's still a lot of fun and well written. The animation is not as bad as haters are making it out to be, it's actually super reminiscent to Camp Cretaceous. Which is another show DreamWorks is involved with, so it makes sense.

I very much recommend.

Here are some things I had forgotten or little details I just noticed on my rewatch, maybe even Unpopular Opinions 🤭👀

✨Race to the Edge ✨

SEASON 4

Tuffnut choked on a stun dart- I think I've seen it all regarding the twins HAHDHSHHA

Fishlegs really had Meatlug opening its mouth WIDE JUST TO SAY ABORT THE VERY LAST SECONDHAHSHGSGG

I love how Hiccup and Astrid can communicate without actually talking 🥺

I love how all dragons are a reflection of each of their owners like even tho Barf and Belch aren't the smartest they can be whenever they actually try

- Snotlout and Hookfang are both hotheaded and never really listen

- Fishlegs and Meatlug both are sweet, smart, resourceful and jealous sometimes hehe

- The twins and Barf and Belch are crazy and dumb but can be smart and strong whenever they need to be

- Astrid and Stormfly are both authoritative and badasses but also caring

- Hiccup and Toothless are both natural born leaders

Astrid built the ballista

Fun fact: Mala means bad in Spanish and it makes sense if you think about it cause Mala is BADASS HAHDHSHAHA😂 sorry I make bad jokes like that

Hiccup referring to Tuffnut as one of his best friends is adorable 🥺

"Flattery has no effect on me, mainly because I never hear any" dudeee ruff that's so saddd🥺😭

JAJDHHSJSJS TUFFNUT REALLY SAID "IT'S TIME FOR BALLISTA-NUT" AND JUMPED RIGHT OFF OF TOOTHLESS

And then him actually fighting Gruffnut is pretty badass I mean they threw actual punches and kicks and everything 😳

Why was Hiccup so cold towards Astrid? When she was just trying to help with his bounty problem

The way Toothless prevented Stoick from killing Savage 🥺🥺🥺

Now that I think abt it Hiccup got kidnapped so many times

Stoick punching Ryker and threatening him is one of the best things I've seen 🤩

Dude poor Snotlout was just insecure in ep4 And I love how Hiccup tried to help him and even then Snotlout still tried his best to show that he can be a leader

- i really loved how he learned that he couldn't just stop covering someone, I mean even when Astrid told him to "peel off and help Hiccup" he was like "no way I'm not leaving your wing" 🥺🥺🥺

Submaripper - tidal class, super powerful, prefer deeper open water and typically very reclusive. Extremely territorial and dangerous.

I LOVE HOW THE SUBMARIPPER SAVED HICCUP, and Toothless's face whenever he couldn't get Hiccup out and Barf and Belch breaking the pod to get him 🥺🥺🥺I can't

Stoick is so fine 🤩

JAHDHAHSHA HICCUP REALLY OUT HERE FAT-SHAMING HIS DAD when poor Stoick is just trying to tell him that going after Viggo only for revenge is neither safe nor the right thing to do

- "What? What do you mean? You love revenge. Revenge is your thing. Weren't they gonna name you Stoick the Vindictive before... Well you know." *signals to Stoick*

Shadow wings - ep7 they follow, herd and shadow. Big one isn't as fast or maneuverable. Small ones are smart and quick. The big one looks like the submaripper.

AND THE WAY TOOTHLESS DEALT WITH THE LAST OF THEM. It was amazingggg he dived down towards a lil pond but he couldn't see cause of the dust and so HE USED THAT ONE SHOT THAT LETS HIM SEE TO KNOW WHEN TO GO BACK UP AND ALLOW THE BIG SHADOW WING TO CRASH AGAINST THE WATER.

The Flying Shatter-Scatter move with Shattermaster and Windshear was so cool and it's also basically the only thing that has pierced through dragon-proof ships

Bro I really wanted to see Astrid saving Toothless when she saw he was in danger in ep8

I DONT WANT HEATHER TO LEAVE UGHHHH 🥺

HEATHER AND FISHLEGS ARE SO GOALS I CANT 🥺🥺🥺🥺😭 I LOVE THEM TOO MUCH

Everyone's shocked faces whenever Hiccup and Fishlegs weren't thinking the same thing HAHDHSHABA

Toothless's facial expressions whenever he saw Astrid was in danger and the way he grabbed Snotlout and went down the volcano just to try and save her- I love their relationship 🥺

And how Hiccup was so worried when he saw Astrid in the lava and the way he grabbed her 🥺🥺🥺🥺

Dude I shipped Throk and Mala so harddd

And the red night terrors ufff we love them

Tuffnut just killed Macey

Ruffnut is so badass bro I love her she really had a sword to her neck and was like "take your best shot pal"

Project Shellfire: a weaponized dragon, Shellfire - tidal class, Titanwing, bigger than a submaripper, long range firing capabilities.

Hiccup just saved Astrid from falling to the water and the way he looked at her right after he put her down- he seemed so concerned I can't 🥺😭

BLINDSIDED ALSO LOVE THIS EPISODE 🤩🥺

First name Astrid calls out is Hiccup's 🥺

Her eyes omg

The way she started hyperventilating and the way he held her hand with both of his and the way he kneeled down next to her and made sure she knew that he was still there and the way Toothless's facial expression went 🥺😔 and the way he put his wing on her legs to try and cover her or protect her 🥺🥺🥺I can't

I mean Imagine how Astrid must've felt I just can't I'd be so stressed out and desperate and the next day she was just like I'm going to look for my dragon idc

No dude because the way Hiccup grabbed her by the waist to prevent her from falling off of Toothless and how both of their expressions softened whenever he told her not to apologize and whenever she hugged him 🥺

I love how the twins are trying to learn how Astrid feels but Ruffnut takes advantage of "blind" Tuffnut and has him run off of a cliff

AND HOW HE CAUGHT HER AND GOT SO NERVOUS WHEN THEY BOTH FELL DOWN 🥺 wait now that I'm watching it again he actually prevented her from getting hit in the head omg

"Of course she's not gonna hide. What was I thinking? She's Astrid."

MISTAKE whenever Astrid took the dragons out of their pens they weren't wearing their saddles and now that they've found them they have them on.

Them spending time with each other's dragons is so funny

Nonono I can't this is the beginning of it all! The beginning of Hiccstrid dating is HERE!!!! and that scene whenever he tells her that she's strong and they'll get through it and he holds her arm and then slowly moves down to her hand 🥺 I love them too much I can't- I want what they have. HE WAS GOING IN FOR THE KISS TOO I CANTTTTT OK THIS IS TOO MUCH

A Fem!Hiccup AU.

Summary:

Hiccup had made up her mind. Dragon killing was not for her, no matter how much her father protested, she was done with it. She was done trying to fit in. She was going to be who she wanted to be, it's not like anyone cared.

[Ongoing]

Hiccup shut the door of the house with force. Every time! Every time she made a mistake her father humiliated her. He thought he was just raising her with ‘the Viking way’, but she knew he could do that in the privacy of their home and not outside for the whole village to see! He just didn’t… he didn’t know how to raise a daughter.

She understood that. She accepted that. But she wasn’t lying! Hiccup had really shot down a Night Fury! Well if no one believed her, she would go out on her own. Nobody cared enough to stop her. She would show them that she wasn’t lying, that she was capable of being a viking as much as they were.

Hiccup left the house using the back door, to avoid any of the taunts she would undoubtedly receive. She knew the woods of the island like the back of her hand, she spent a lot of time there. It was like a second home to her and even with the setting sun and darkness approaching she didn’t fear getting lost.

Being in the woods helped her relax and get away from… everything. From her father, from the bullies, from the scrutiny of the tribe. Her only friends were Gobber and Ruffnut, as sad as that sounded, she didn’t mind. The other teens her age weren’t that kind to her. Her cousin made fun of her constantly, the twins always joined in, but Ruffnut always did so in a teasing way, not like the cruel way the two boys did.

Fishlegs was her friend once, but ultimately he succumbed to the pressure of being one of the ‘cool’ vikings. And Arne… Arne was indifferent mostly, he didn’t make fun of her, he even helped her at some points in her life, but he wasn’t friendly either. He strived for greatness and was Stoick’s favorite without really trying.

Stoick always talked about Arne, how great the boy was, how he will grow up to be a great viking, how the boy would make a great Chief. Like Hiccup didn’t know these things, the crush she had on the boy was enough proof that she did. She hid the crush as best as she could, not because she cared what others thought, no. She hid her crush because her disinterest in the subject was the only thing keeping Stoick away from arranging a marriage with the boy’s father.

She walked through the forest with confidence, she had drawn a map in her notebook just to keep track of the places she had been already. Hiccup crossed out another place on the map, no Night Fury there. This was getting irritating. She knew that the God’s had it out for her, it was already obvious at that point! So why, oh why, couldn’t they give her a break?

“Oh, the gods hate me. Some people lose their knife or their mug. No, not me. I manage to lose an ENTIRE DRAGON?!” She exclaimed, airing her frustrations to the sky as she shut her notebook forcefully.

She slapped a branch out of her way, but it came back and caught her eye in its way. Hiccup glared at the branch with hatred, but something got her attention. The branch was snapped – scratch that – the whole tree was snapped in half. The only thing that could’ve done that would be… the Night Fury!

Hiccup followed the ditch that had been carved out by the falling dragon. She didn’t care about the dirt she got on herself as she ran forwards, twisting her ankle a bit, she didn’t feel the sting, she was too excited. As she reached a small hill peering over it, she was it. The Night Fury was there! Bound and helpless, easy to kill.

She approached the dragon carefully. It seemed to be dead already, that didn’t diminish her spirits, all she needed was a part of it to show to her father and then… then he would leave her alone, she would show what she could do and he would finally be proud of her.

“Oh, wow. I did it. Oh, I did it!” she could help but exclaim, “This fixes everything! Yes! I have brought down this mighty beast!” she boasted as she put her leg on the body.

The body under her foot moved, startling her quite a bit, she took out her dagger with shaking hands. The dragon was alive, that changed things.

“I'm going to kill you, dragon. I'm going to cut out your heart and take it to my father.” Her voice trembled, but she kept trying to reassure herself, “I'm a Viking. I am a VIKING!”

Hiccup looked over the dragon, from its bound tail to his open – oh Thor it was open – eye. She tried to steady herself, but her eyes kept going back to the frightened eyes of the dragon. Those eyes were so… human. The Night Fury was as scared as she was.

“I did this,” she whispered to herself, her voice filled with remorse.

She lowered her dagger as she started to feel guilt overwhelm her. She did this. She had taken this beast and shot it out of the sky for her own gain. Hiccup didn’t have the guts to go through with it, she didn’t have what it takes to take a life for her own temporary gain. Because with her track record, it would be only temporary.

She looked down at the dragon, the dragon had accepted his fate, but Hiccup had other plans. No one believed her, no one would know that she let the dragon go. She kneeled next to the beast, taking the bolas rope and pulling it away from the body, cutting every rope one by one. With the last rope the dragon shot up, pining Hiccup under its claws.

This was it, Hiccup hadn’t thought things through, had she? Of course the dragon would be mad! Well, with the hot breath of the dragon fanning her face, she accepted her fate. What a way to go! The tribe’s disappointment killed by a dragon, how ironic in a way.

But she wasn’t dead. The dragon had leaned in and when she thought it was all over, the Night Fury just roared in her face and flew off. She was alive! She pulled all of her strength and stood up to head back, she didn’t make it far as her vision went black.

When she woke up, it was already dark. Oh Thor, her father was probably back home and he was wondering where she was. She did not want to deal with him tonight! But she still made her way home, her bed sounding way better than the cold forest floor.

As she made her way inside, her heart fell when she saw her father still up. She sighed to herself as she tried to get pass him, she didn’t succeed.

“Hiccup.” Her father’s voice stopped her halfway up the stairs.

“Dad,” she greeted him back.

“I have to talk to you,” Stoick turned to her, his eyes widening at her dirty appearance.

“I have to talk to you too,” Hiccup agreed, she would have to tell him that she was giving up on dragons sooner or later, but sooner was better.

“I've decided I don't want to fight dragons anymore.”

“I think it's time you learn to fight dragons.”

They said at the same time, then again they spoke simultaneously.

“What?”

“You go first,” Stoick told her.

“No, no, you go first,” she insisted, buttering him up might stop him from getting angry after she told him that she didn’t want anything to do with dragons.

“Alright. You get your wish. Dragon Training. You start in the morning.” Stoick said in conclusion, without even asking her what she wanted.

“Oh, man, I should've gone first!” Hiccup was panicking, this wasn’t the plan, “Uh, 'cause I was thinking, you know, we have a surplus of dragon-fighting Vikings, but do we have enough... bread-making Vikings, or small home repair Vikings--?”

“You'll need this,” he said as he pushed an axe that he got from the wall into her hands.

“I don't want to fight dragons,” she disagreed trying to push the axe away from herself.

“Come on. Yes, you do,” Stoick laughed her statement off.

“Let me rephrase: Dad, I can't kill dragons,” she pleadingly told him.

“But you will kill dragons.”

“No, I'm really very extra sure that I won't.”

“It's time, Hiccup.” Stoick forcefully said to her.

“Can you not hear me?!” she exclaimed in frustration.

“This is serious, Hiccup!” Stoick yelped, “When you carry this axe, you carry all of us with you. Which means you walk like us. You talk like us. You think like us. No more of... this.” He explained gesturing to her.

“You just gestured to all of me,” she rebutted in offence.

“Deal?” he asked her.

“This conversation is feeling very one-sided,” She complained with a frown.

“DEAL?!” he basically shouted as he pushed the axe to her once again.

“Deal,” she sighed as she took the axe, seeing the conversation going nowhere.

“Good,” he said satisfied, “Train hard. I'll be back. Probably.” He told her as he picked up his things and left the house.

“And I'll be here. Maybe,” she whispered to herself, she looked down at the axe she could barely hold up, determination filled her, she knew what to do. “But you won’t like what I’m going to be,” she said to the empty house with a smirk.

‘I wonder what Ruff is up to?’ she thought to herself as she let the axe drop from her grasp.

Monster Carvers (link) - Main Star Vs AU. Stomco endgame + Tom stays with Marco + Star raised by Monsters (specifically Buff Frog). The titular antagonists were originally going to disappear after the prologue what the heck happened???

Pretty Cure vs the Forces of Evil (link) - Exactly What It Says On the Tin, Pretty Cure x Star Vs.

unnamed Pirate AU - Star Butterfly has a perfectly nice, unbearably boring life as a high-class lady, with little to do other than wait to be married to her arranged fiancé that she’s never even met. A week before her wedding she sneaks on board a shipping vessel in the hopes of having an adventure. She gets a little more adventure than she bargained for when the ship is attacked by pirates.

How to Train Your Dragon:

Outsiders (link) - Main HTTYD AU. Instead of watching the entire Berk fleet sail off to their dooms with Toothless, Hiccup and Astrid free the arena dragons and take Toothless while he’s being brought to the ship and then they all get the heck out of dodge. Dagur accidentally set himself adrift with Heather back when they were both small. Snotlout learns the hard way that being the Heir/responsibility kind of really sucks actually??? Stoick has to deal with his son going rouge. And Gobber and the Berk Teenagers have to deal with Stoick and Snotlout respectively.

Modern Riders/Time Travel AU - Modern!Hiccup is dragged by his cousin into an unwanted camping trip with the other riders and one electrical storm later, they find their cell phones aren’t working any more. Also are those flipping dragons?! On Berk, Stoick and the other vikings are shocked to find a group of teenagers in the woods who bear a shocking resemblance to some of the members of a dead generation of children.

Unsevered Bonds - Modern Riders (minus Hiccup) meet a time displaced Hiccup who recognize them as his reincarnated friends, even if they don’t remember their former lives.

How To Train Your Lusus - Everyone are trolls on Alternia. Hiccup is a brownblood who’s probably the only troll in existence to get a second Lusus (Toothless) after his first one (Stoick) is killed. Astrid is an oliveblood that Hiccup is flushed for, Fishlegs is a yellowblood, Snotlout is a blueblood, the Twins, Dagur, and Heather are all purplebloods. Dagur killed both his and Heather’s lusus so now he’s trying to take care of her even though she absolutely hates him (and not in a black way), and he had an unrequited pitch thing for Hiccup at one point before they flipped pale (and are actually Moirails now). That’s pretty much all I have for this one.

unnamed Harry Potter AU - Does not actually take place at Hogwarts. Everyone attends Dumstrang (possibly) and the topic everyone avoids is Care of Magical Creatures, because the local Dark Lord is Drago Bludvist. Main trio is Hiccup, Snotlout (Pureblood cousins), and Fishlegs (Muggleborn)… somehow.

Dragon Gang (link) - Mob/Mafia AU set in the vaguely 1920s in a Fake Country so no one can call me out on inaccurate geography.

Rebuilding Bridges - Set in a Multiverse where RTTE and The Hidden World are mutuality exclusive. (Pt.1): After dealing with Drago but before dealing with Grimmborn, Hiccup and Toothless once fought a witch intent on ‘harvesting’ dragons. Now ten years after the dragons have left her apprentice seeks revenge and kidnaps Zephyr and Nuffink, and a panicked Hiccup and Astrid are contacted by the Very Retired and Very Much Done With This Kid witch. Meanwhile in the RTTE-verse, The Dragon Riders only just got back from informing Berk about Johann’s treachery, when some crazy lady spontaneously appears in the middle of the Edge with two terrified children she intends to feed to dragons. Yeah, that’s not happening. (Pt.2, spoilers for this AU I guess???): Zephyr and Nuffink and their parents have safely returned to New Berk, but their world has been shaken by what was and could have been. Zephyr and Nuffink, after bonding with Dagur in the other timeline, decide they want to try and help him in theirs. This was perhaps not their best idea. Meanwhile, the Nightlights escape the watchful eye of their parents to go exploring outside the Hidden World, and quickly meet the hatchlings of their dad’s brother! (so… their cousins, then?)

Something Wild (name subject to change) - Several years after Berk (along with most of the Archipelago) is attacked and taken captive by a far more advanced foe, Stoick is able to free most of his people but what he finds when they get manage to regroup back to their island is less than a relief- Berk ravaged and their elderly and children, left behind by their captors, missing. To make matters worse, the dragons are still out there, now with some kind of devils riding and aiding them. Now Stoick, Gobber, and the rest of the people of Berk must find safety and a way to fight back against they’re new foe, find what happened to those who are missing, and figure out who these dragon riders are and whether they’re friend of foe (gee i wonder where the Berkians went and who the dragon riders are golly what a mystery). (aka the feral/semi-feral!dragon riders au i keep trying to create)

Lost (name subject to change) - Alternate attempt at the feral/semi-feral!dragon riders au. Several years before the events of the movie could happen, a raid on Berk not by dragons, but by other people, leads to the destruction of an entire generation when the raiders manage to capture the Teenagers of Berk and ship them away. While in captivity, they meet and ultimately befriend the dragons that in another life would be their partners and together they all escape. Unfortunately, they’re Thor-knows-where, and with no one they can trust (or understand) except each other, getting back to Berk might take a while…

The Lego Movie:

Hero with Two Faces of Yellow - Another ‘Emmet and Rex share a body like Good Cop Bad Cop’ AU

Peacemaker AU - Main Lego AU. About a year after the Duplo aliens attack, Emmet is attacked and presumed dead, but he’s actually been taken by General Mayhem to meet Queen Watevra Wana'bi, who remembered and missed her ‘father’. Later, Rex ends up jumping into an entirely different timeline by accident (this one) and decides to try and play the long game by befriending Emmet, who’s now living in the Systar System. That probably won’t work out for him the way he wanted.

Miraculous Ladybug

MiracuClass Knows AU - Prior to Volpina, each member of the MiracuClass finds out the identities of Ladybug and Chat Noir, and just sort of collectively become their secret keepers. Inspired by Epiphanies by PFTones3582 on Fanfiction.net.

Miraculous Sburb AU - The MiracuClass play Sburb and end up dragging a good chunk of Paris in with them when they enter the Medium. Marinette is a Light player, Adrien is a Doom player, and that’s all I got. Gabriel probably definitely dies.

One Is Silver and the Other Gold - aka the Marikimno Brot3 AU. I headcannon that Marinette, Kim, and Nino were close friends as little kids that drifted apart a few years prior to the start of the show. In this AU, that never happened. Also, Alya becomes Adrien’s best friend instead of Nino, and Nathanel becomes their friend too somehow? (someone help Alya, she’s an extrovert and both her friends have social skill levels in the single digits.)

The Ladybug and the Monkey - Main Miraculous Ladybug AU. My take on the ‘Fu chooses Kim to be the second Miraculous wielder instead of Adrien’ AU that I’ve somehow seen multiple times.

Sleeper Miraculous - AU where instead of the Miraculous being handed out, they’re transported magically to their wielders after they’ve proved themselves somehow. The Miraculous still need to be ‘activated’ by the Guardian to be used on either a permanent or temporary basis, so Ladybug still has to go to Master Fu at first before she becomes the new Guardian, but she knows literally none of the other members of Team Miraculous’s identities. They have a chat group, too, where Ladybug updates team members on whose Miraculous she’s going to activate, and both Chloe and Kagami never blow their identities. Contains both mild Classmates + (even milder)Adrien salt and sugar. (define irony: wanting to punch someone in the face for being an a-hole only to realize that said a-hole is you).

Miraculous! Pretty Cure! - Another Pretty Cure AU. Yep.

Mesapia AU - Butterfly!Marinette AU with a few twists - 1) instead of just facing the villainous user of the Ladybug Miraculous, all of the Miraculous have been lost to villains (save for the rabbit). Marinette frequently empowers her classmates (+Adrien, who’s still under house-arrest in this AU, Luka, and Kagami) to fight the Miraculous Villains, who are also all fighting each other; and 2) This isn’t so much a Kwami Swap as a Kwami Scramble, no one uses their canon Miraculous here (except for Fu briefly, and Emilie had the peacock before what happened to her)!

Boys vs Girls AU (name subject to change) - Marinette vs Lila with the Boys (+Kagami) on Marinette’s side and the Girls on Lila’s.

Labyrinth - Almost the entirety of the MiracuClass go missing (+Lila, Luka, & Kagami, -Chloe) and on a related note, eight very young children wake up in an ever-shifting, monster-filled underground labyrinth and grow up together. And two of them have some special, appearance-shifting jewelry…

Mad Gabriel - Miraculous Ladybug x Mad Father, starring Adrien as Aya, Marinette as Dio, Gabriel as Alfred Drevis, Nathalie as Maria, and everyone else as the doctor’s victims (Lila is Ines).

Miraculous Royal AU - A fantasy AU starring the MiracuClass (shocker) spread out across three fantasy kingdoms.

Quartz Butterfly AU - AU in which Jagged Stone takes the role of (a significantly nicer but still villainous) Hawkmoth as Quartz Butterfly, with Penny taking on Mayura’s role as Songbird. (yes i know peacocks aren’t songbirds SHHHH).

MiracuTrio AU - AU based on fanofanimation’s submission to terrible-miraculous-ladybug-aus, where Kim becomes a permanent member of the team after Party Crasher.

Mitterlicht - horror-ish AU inspired partially by various horror games, Lucidstuck, and Underbright (no, really). After receiving their Miraculous for the first time, the temporary heroes start having less-than-restful nights. Things quickly go from bad to worse when fragmented, panic-inducing dreams turn into nightly (and solitary) trips into a dark world full of monsters that want to take something referred to just as their ‘light’- a bright light that acts as both a beacon to the hostile creatures and the only way to return to consciousness every night -which just so happen to be in the exact spot (and in many cases, are also vaguely the same shape) of their Miraculouses.

Mirakatsu - Aikatsu AU

Ladybug: Don’t Deal With Hawkmoth - (aka the result of listening to the Cuphead Rap Battle 50 million times) Cuphead AU where Ladybug and Chat Noir have to go around beating up akumas and collecting their butterflies to avoid getting akumatized by Hawkmoth.

Miracle Thieves - a phantom/gentleman thief au where Marinette and Adrien (who have been thieves for years) unwittingly steal a pair of magical artifacts and decide to team up afterwards. Includes Fox!Nino, Journalist-determined-to-expose-their-identities!Alya, and possibly Tiger!Markov.

Homestuck:

Merged Sessions AU - An AU where our favorite trolls and the Beta Kids are all part of the same session

Same Side of the Scratch AU - AU where the Beforus Trolls replace the Alternian ones, and when both sessions get scratched the Alternian Trolls end up in communication with the Alpha Kids

Same Side, Same Session AU - Combines both of the two immediately above AUs, The Beta Kids and Beforus Trolls have a session together that fails and gets Scratched, then the Alternians and Alphas play the game together while the pre-scratch players (all alive) travel to their session and have Meteorstuck Shenanigans.

Relief Was Just a Dream (name subject to change) - aka the mandatory Troll Rebellion AU, inspired by a fic I don’t remember the name of on A03. Sweeps after Karkat and Feferi are (seemingly) culled, Ace Legislacerator Terezi Pyrope -one of the best despite knowing she’s one wrong move away from being culled for her disability- is called in to investigate a series of traitorous attacks on more and more ships. Weirdly, the trolls seen most in the attacks don’t even seem to exist, all seem to bleed a painfully familiar cherry red, and have powers that even Her Imperial Condescension doesn’t seem to have. (not a no-game au)

Freetime AU (name subject to change) - AU where Bro leaves Dave on Dad Egbert’s doorstep, and Dave and John grow up as brothers.

Megaman:

Pokemon Network - Hub lives Pokemon AU with at least two protagonist teams. Team A: Lan, Hub, Mayl, Dex & Yai in Kanto. Team B: Roll, Glyde, Gutsman (Gus) in Kalos. What are Chaud and Protoman/Blues up to? ~Secrets~

Sailor Moon:

Inverse Corruption - When Beryl scours the Earth looking for her reincarnated generals she fails to find them, but she does manage to find the senshi instead. Sailor Moon has to unknowingly face the very girls who were supposed to protect her, fighting side-by-side with the Shitennou instead. (the boys are highschoolers to the girls middleschoolers)

Hazbin Hotel:

Infernal Relations - Why did Lucifer and Lilith wait so long to have a child? Simple; they didn’t. Unbeknownst to Charlie, her parents both had and lost a child thousands of years before she was born, a fact that will have far more of an effect on her hotel than she could possibly realize (even if she had known).

Apprentice Charlie AU - AU where Charlie gets into a fight with Lucifer and leaves before she ever thinks to create her hotel and Alastor ends up finding amusement by taking on an apprentice. (inspired by Helluva Teacher by Sol_Victoria on A03)

Phineas and Ferb:

Cursed Cats AU - AU based on the song Black Cats of Halloween. Phineas, Ferb, and their friends are cursed by a demon who turns them into black cats, save for on Halloween night. They’re then thrown into a world of magic and have to find each other, their way back home, and a way to break their curse, preferably in that order.

Danganronpa:

Online Gamer AU - no one dies/non-despair AU where no one is a super/ultra highschool level anything, no one has met each other in person, and they all play Among Us together. Junko always dies first and she’s low-key going to hurt someone over it.

unnamed AU where the murders of the killing game happen differently (aka the mandatory dr au)

unnamed AU inspired by ask-the-dr-reset-kids - After an incident that forces Hope’s Peak to temporarily close it’s doors, Class 78 all transfer to a different school. Junko is in jail, Mukuro is coping, Izuru is looming somewhere, the Ultimate Despair are waiting like sleeper agents to cause the The Most Despair Inducing Event in History, and Makoto is straight up not having a good time (and has very good reasons not to tell anyone).

unnamed AU where both Class 77 and Class 78, including both Junko and Mukuro but without Chiaki end up playing the Killing Game together.

Double Mastermind AU - similar to the above, both Class 77 and Class 78 wake up one day with no memories of their school lives. They’ll have to work together, somehow, to find out where they are, how to get back to civilization, and how to get back their memories. Meanwhile in the control room, Makoto and a sort-of-but-not-really-reformed Junko are working together as the Masterminds behind the mystery. Well, Makoto’s working, anyway. Junko just kind of wants to give Makoto daily migraines. Contains Junko/Makoto hateshipping.

unnamed Taka Lives AU where instead of switching roles with Hiro during the third trial he just manages to survive the murder attempt. He does not, however, get out unscathed…

another unnamed Taka Lives AU where Makoto, at Kyoko’s urging, decides to stay with Kiyondo the night he would have died, throwing a huge wrench into the would-be-blackeneds’ plans.

After receiving and turning down a job to assassinate a certain up-and-coming politician, The Black Mask (Makoto) alerts his would-be victim, an old former friend, that someone is out for his life.

Remnants of Hope AU - AU that takes place after the end of School Mode, with the class not being picked up by the future foundation right away. (does this. does this actually qualify as an au i’m not sure.)

Soulmates AU - In a world where most people are colorblind until meeting their soulmate, Makoto Naegi walks into Hope’s Peak Academy colorblind, blacks out, and wakes up to color. As it turns out, the same thing happened to everyone else!

Scrapbook AU - After entering into Hope’s Peak Academy, Makoto started a scrapbook/photo album of himself, his classmates, and eventually even the class above his own during their time on and off school. It soon became a class diary of sorts after being discovered, shared among everyone… then a chronicle of the events leading up to Class 77 going missing, The Tragedy starting, and Class 78 sealing themselves inside the school bunker, before returning to it’s original purpose as Class 78 lived inside their homemade bunker. In canon, Junko found and burned it. In this timeline, it’s an amnesiac Makoto and his classmates who find it, hidden under the floor in Makoto’s room.

Amnesia AU - A boy wakes up in a school(?) with no memories of where he is, how he got here, or even who he is. As it turns out, there are fourteen other people here… and all of them have the same memory loss he does! (may or may not be an IF Bad End AU)

Polychain AU - Another different Victims and Blackends au, that extends well beyond the original Killing Game. The Tragedy occurs very differently in this one… initially. Also features Junko escaping after the Killing Game, and Hajime and Shuichi being half-brothers and kids of the survivors.

Unnamed AU where Leon and Taka also attended Makoto and Sayaka’s middle school.

Ghost AU - After being killed, the victims and blackened are forced to stick around and watch the Killing Game happen, believing they'll be allowed to move on after they leave. Turns out, they're very much wrong- but at least after it's over their classmates can see them! Too bad they're the only ones.

Teachers Assistant AU - inspired by a fic I don’t remember the name of on fanfiction.net. After Nagito blows up a building and gets suspended, Chisa is forced to take a Teacher’s Assistant or be fired. Somehow, a very reluctant Makoto gets the job, despite being in the class below her own. Cross-class shenanigans ensue.

Unnamed Timetravel AU inspired by a fic I don’t remember the name of on fanfiction.net where Makoto and Alter Ego, the only survivors of the Killing Game, are sent back in time to Makoto’s first day attending Hope’s Peak - Makoto mentally and Alter Ego physically. Not as dark as the premise sounds, at least theoretically.

Crossover

Dagla!Adrien AU - Adrien isn’t the son of Gabriel and Emilie Agreste, but instead his parents are a Modern Dagur and Mala. He still works for Gabriel as a model, but otherwise has had a very different upbringing (most notably the inclusion of a lot of people who have cared about him for his entire life, such as his best friend Zephyr Haddock) and acts more like Chat Noir both with and without the mask. He still befriends his canon friends, becomes Chat Noir, and falls in love with Ladybug. (HTTYD x Miraculous Ladybug)

I have no idea who Endymion became if he exists at all in this AU. (Sailor Moon x Phineas and Ferb)

unnamed Steven Universe x Undertale AU - After returning from the Jungle Moon, Steven and Connie end up stranded in an alternate timeline where they meet what appears to be another half-gem going by the name of False Topaz (Frisk). Things get a little more tricky when it turns out that gems and humans coexist somewhat… on one side of a giant, seemingly uncross-able mountain range live humans, on the other gems, and after a war between the two a few centuries ago, both cultures have a kill on sight policy. To make things more complicated, gems seem to be very different in this timeline. (note: Frisk is not actually a gem, just disguised as one)

Author’s Notes: I have a few more BTB prompts to post, starting with this one. Not going to lie, this one came as a complete surprise to me, because there are certain prompts I wanted to get done and this one wasn't a part of these prompts simply because I had no ideas for this one. Until one suddenly popped up and this one-shot was quickly written.

Also, also, this one-shot made me confront the fact that I'm not very creative with my swearing! :'D

"MOTHERFUCKER!"

Astrid roars at the top of her lungs while her hands go to her right foot, which is aflame with pain. A heavy crate with bolas teetering on the edge of the barrel is rested on was knocked over by the twins playing rough and it has landed right on her foot.

The twins stop their fighting and the friends look her way as she hops, attempting to keep her balance and not fall to the ground. There's a cringing look on all of their faces.

Stormfly circles her partner, cooing in worry and her wings flittering nervously.

"Oh wow, that must've hurt!" Snotlout is amused, though still sympathetic to Astrid's pain.

"Oh, I'll show you exactly how much it hurt!" Astrid yells at him, but ends up falling on her bum instead. "I'll show you in a minute!"

She lets out a frustrated sigh. Ow, ow, ow, it hurts so much! She probably needs to see Gothi for this.

"Hiccup, can you give me a hand instead of standing there staring at me like a yak in a dragon stampede?" She asks, addressing the boy who's supposed to be her best human friend.

The others look over to find Hiccup standing a little ways away from the group. Toothless is right next to him, as he always is, and his shield is in his hands. He wears a look of utter bewilderment.

The dragon sniffs Hiccup curiously, wondering what has him so perplexed.

"Uh, Hiccup?" Fishlegs calls his name and Snotlout raises an eyebrow, both wondering what is the matter with him.

"Oh, right! The foot! Help!" Hiccup suddenly springs into action and runs to Astrid's side to help her to her feet.

"You'd think he would be all for helping someone with an injured foot." Snotlout mutters over to Fishlegs.

Hiccup lets Astrid throw an arm around his shoulder to help her up. And then-

"Oh, fuck!"

"Heh?!" Hiccup looks over to Ruffnut and Tuffnut, dropping Astrid back on the ground.

"Ow, Hiccup!" She protests, hurting her tailbone on top of her hurt foot.

"Astrid, I'm so sorry!" As Hiccup apologizes, the twins begin to laugh.

"Uh, what's so funny?" Fishlegs asks uncertainly, not getting why Astrid getting even more hurt is funny to them. Astrid certainly doesn't appreciate it.

Hiccup's behavior was a little strange to all of them, but the twins have figured him out. And by the way Snotlout's face turns into one of joyful wonder, he's figured it out, too.

"Ohohoho, no way! Is Hiccup afraid of-" He stops himself to gasp dramatically. "Bad words?!"

Astrid, now holding her foot and rubbing her backside, glares up at Hiccup.

"Well, are you?" She asks, wondering if that is really the reason she was dropped so rudely.

"What? No, of course not! I was just taken off guard, that's all!" Hiccup explains himself.

"You dropped Astrid back on her ass because you hear a naughty word." Snotlout taunts him, arms crossed and chest puffed out. He's many things, but at the very least he's not afraid of bad words.

"I don't mean to take any sides, but you did drop Astrid, Hiccup." Fishlegs hesitantly agrees with the stocky boy.

"But not because of some word, Fishlegs!" Hiccup argues back, feeling his cheeks heat up in embarrassment.

As, yes, it is because that word stunned him that he let go of Astrid. As a Viking, it's an embarrassing thing. And it's not like he hasn't heard bad words before, his dad is a big fan of them, too.

Is it a preference? He likes to think it's a matter of preference.

Upset with Hiccup Haddock the Third for dropping her when she's already hurt enough, Astrid decides that she can have a bit of fun.

"Hiccup, help me the fuck up or so fucking help me!"

This time, his trusty shield falls to the floor.

"Astrid!" He gasps.

"Oh no! And now the shield must suffer? You monster!" Ruffnut comes running and dramatically throws herself to her knees by the shield. She wraps her arms around the metal hull and pulls it onto her lap. She fake sobs while Hiccup helps Astrid back up.

"What did it ever do to you, Hiccup? What did it ever do to you?!" Tuffnut shorts and joins her, holding both his sister and the shield.

In the meantime, sensing that Hiccup might want to leave, Toothless pads over to his human and bumps his back with his nose.

"Yeah, Bud, you're right. We should probably go." Hiccup agrees with his Night Fury and quickly helps Astrid climb onto Toothless' back before climbing up himself.

"Yeah, by Odin's damn beard, you better get that damn girl to the damn healer, you... Damn!" Snotlout adds as many "damns" as he can to get away within that one sentence and Hiccup gives him a look.

"I think I'm going to stop talking to you guys now." He decides and the three of them walk off towards the gate out of the academy. They'll take off once they no longer have a metal net as a roof above their heads.

Watching them go, the Night Fury shield still in Ruffnut's lap, she, Tuffnut, and Snotlout chuckle.

"Oh, I'm going to have fun with this." He says.

Some three years later on Dragon's Edge, the Riders and one Night Fury are sitting in the clubhouse for their dinner of that evening. It's been another tiring day, but it's been a productive one and they all feel like they deserve a good, fulfilling meal.

But some of the Night Terrors are also present as the dragon base is as much theirs as it is the Dragon Riders'. One of them accidentally trips Hiccup and causes him to drop his dinner, wasting a perfectly good meal he was actually looking forward to eating.

The Night Terror looking at him timidly, he stares at his would-be dinner with a frown, sadness filling him.

"Godsdamnit."

There's an uproar of shocked gasps coming from the table, heads snapping in his direction in bewilderment.

"A bad word!" Tuffnut exclaims and they all stare at Hiccup like he just offended them all personally.

"Oh Gods," Hiccup sighs, certainly that he's not going to hear the end of this, just like he didn't three years ago.

Warmth

HI guys! I’ve been in this fandom for ages, but never published anything, because I never thought my writing skills were the best. And I don’t really like writing either. However, this pandemic is a bitch and I felt bored and had an idea. So here it is! Hopefully you’ll enjoy it!

Summary: (Set right after Buffalord Soldier.) Astrid is still feeling the effects after barely surviving the Scourge of Odin and the only thing that's keeping her warm are her two favorite people. Well, one person and one dragon.

Astrid/Stormfly friendship with a side of Hiccstrid.

The flight back to the Edge felt long for Astrid. Sure, she didn’t feel like she was being stabbed by thousands of needles all over her body; but after being so sick for the last two and a half moons, she barely had any energy to remain upright on Stormfly’s saddle. Her friends’ stares didn’t help either. She couldn’t fault them; they were probably just as scared as she was. Even the twins were quietly flying in formation behind Astrid, keeping a worried eye on her.

As the gang lands in front of the clubhouse, everyone dismounts. Snotlout, being the closest, rushed to help Astrid down. Usually, she would have kicked his hand away before dismounting on her own, but this time, she appreciated his help. He hasn’t been his obnoxious self when he came to get her while the other were waiting with the Buffalord. She knew he meant well. Astrid, however, remains seated on Stormfly. She didn’t trust her legs to carry her weight just yet. She felt lightheaded and her grip turned almost white as it tightened on the saddle.

“I-I’m fine. I think I’m just going to retire to my hut and get an early night sleep.” Concern was clearly shown in their eyes.

“Alright, just please take it easy in the next few days. You really had us all worried.” Said Fishlegs.

“I will.” Stormfly started turning around spreading her wings. “And guys? Thank you. I mean it.” The gang all smiled softly at her.

“We’re just glad you’re safe.”

Stormfly flies off towards her hut.

After landing, she walks through the open front door. While they were leaving for Buffalord island, Snotlout was too much in a rush to close behind him, since Astrid was clearly not going to hold on for much longer.

Stormfly gently lies down on her front. She knew that her owner wasn’t in her best shape. She could hear her still struggling to breathe since they left that damned island. Astrid slowly swings her leg off of her dragon, but once her feet touched the ground, her knees buckled under the pressure.

“Shit.”

Stormfly croaks worriedly at her best friend. She brought her head closer to her, rubbing her snout against Astrid’s arm as reassurance.

“I’m ok. I just need some rest.” Astrid weakly smiles, stroking her dragon’s beak. “I’m so sorry girl. You have been worried sick for so long. I just want you to know how much I am thankful for never leaving my side. I couldn’t have asked for a better friend. Thank you Stormfly.” Her dragon purred and wrapped a protective wing around Astrid, providing her with comfort and warmth as a response to her confession.

Familiar footsteps were heard behind the duo.

“Astrid! Are you ok? I heard something fall.” Hiccup asks as he steps into the hut. He didn’t hide the worried expression etched on his face. “Astrid?”

“In here.” Astrid call out from behind Stormfly’s wing.

Hiccup walks towards the dragon and crouches in front of her. Stormfly retreats her wing a little, revealing her rider. She still looked paler than usual. There were bags under her eyes. Despite being bedridden for the last few moons; as well as drifting out into unconsciousness a lot, she was exhausted.

“I just wanted to check up on you. You looked like you were going to fall off Stormfly earlier, and then I heard the crashing noise while I was walking here.” Said Hiccup.

“I’m fine, just tired. A deadly disease will do that to you.” Replied Astrid. Hiccup frowned at her response. They remained on the floor in silence. A couple of minutes passed and Astrid was starting to feel uncomfortable. Hiccup was avoiding her gaze. His fingers twitched. He looked unsure of himself.

“Hiccup, I- “Astrid didn’t get to finish her sentence as his arms wrapped around her, leaving her stunned. Stormfly observed the couple, not making any sound. She knew the boy did everything in his power to help her rider. She trusted him to take care of her and find her the cure before it was too late. He fed her and reassured her when Astrid wasn’t able to take care of her. However, she didn’t let anyone ride her. Her wings ached so much, but she refused to leave her best friend’s side as she was fighting for her life. She could only offer her body heat to the shivering Viking, and Gods be damned if her wings remained numb forever. It was the least she could do to help. They may have gotten off the wrong foot due to misunderstandings and stubbornness. But Astrid offered her love and comfort. And lots of chicken. She put aside their differences and the moment she recognised her wrongs and trusted her to fly her into battle against the Red Death. Stormfly grew fond of the feisty girl, and knew she didn’t want anything to happen to her. Not if she can help it. She watched over her as she would a hatchling.

“You scared us. You really scared me! I’ve never seen you so vulnerable before. Normally when you get hurt you just walk it off like nothing happened. So, when you didn’t get back up this time, I-I just thought for the worst.” Astrid swore she heard his voice crack as if he was trying not to break down in front of her. Astrid wrapped her trembling arms around him. Her weak grip made him tighten his. “You- You’re my rock Astrid. You were always by my side since that day with Toothless. You had everything to lose and yet you stayed by my side and trusted me. And just thinking that I was so so close to losing you today I- “He paused. “I’m sorry, I know it sounds really selfish. But I really meant what I said back then. I can’t imagine a world without you in it. I really can’t.”

Astrid smiled. “I meant what I said too.”

Hiccup releases her from his hug, his hands remaining on her shoulders. He examined her.

“I’m sorry for keeping you up, I know you need some rest. Let me help you up the stairs.”

“No.”

“What?” Hiccup was confused.

“I think I’m going to stay down here with my girl tonight.” Knowing they were talking about her, Stormfly’s head peaked up. “I spent way too much time in that bed lately. I’d feel much safer sleeping in her wings. I know she was worried about me this whole time. I’m not going to lie; this is the closest feeling of a motherly comfort I can get. So, I want to stay her tonight.”

Hiccup looked surprised, but then remembered Astrid telling him that she had lost her mother at age five in a dragon raid. Her father harshly trained her to be the strongest, and was forced to push her emotions back as they were seen as a weakness. That meant that she was never really given any physical or emotional affection.

Hiccup and Stormfly taught her that even the toughest warriors were allowed to feel and need the comfort of being loved. Her Nadder showed her what acceptance and patience was. She would protect her with her life, like a mother would a child. She didn’t want the others to know, but Astrid enjoyed being coddled by Stormfly; giving her what her parents never could. She felt the safest tucked under her large wings. More often than not, the dragon would poke her head in and preen her rider. It was her way of giving affection.

Hiccup fondly looks at Astrid and Stormfly. They've come a long way together since training in the killing arena. While he and Toothless treated each other as brothers, the two girls had more of a mother-daughter relationship. A relationship that he found endearing as he never felt the love and warmth a mother would give to their child. He enjoyed watching how Astrid's expression would softens considerably when she was looking at her dragon. And that soft look was reciprocated by said dragon. He was observing Stormfly rearranging the girl’s braid while she gently stroked her beak.

A small breeze found its way into the hut. Still not feeling at the top of her shape, Astrid shivered. Stormfly croaked in concern and wraps her tail around them, to provide more warmth.

“You sure you want to stay down here?” Hiccup asks, as he rubs his hands across her arms, trying to provide his own warmth. The Nadder observes the boy, still protective of her best friend.

“Y-yeah, I’m sure.” Astrid leans her head against his chest. All shyness was thrown out of the window. “Actually, do you mind getting me a blanket from upstairs? Usually, Stormfly’s body heat is enough to make me sweat buckets, but I still don’t trust my body to function properly just yet.” Hiccup smiled. He felt happy that she was asking him for help instead of acting strong. He quickly climbed the stairs to grab the thickest blanket and stormed back down, nearly missing a step. He wrapped the blanket around his friend.

“Thank you Hiccup, for everything.” Understanding the meaning behind these words, the dragon rider’s smile widened. “It’s no big deal, you know I’ll always have your back right?”

“And I’ll always have yours.” Astrid grins at him before she lets out a yawn. “I guess, that’s my body telling me I should go to sleep.” Hiccup chuckles.

“I should also go, Toothless will take all the space on my bed if I leave him alone for too long. Just promise me that you’ll send Stormfly if you need anything or if you feel sick again.”

“I promise.”

He fidgets for a few seconds before leaning towards the sleepy warrior and kisses her cheek, whispering a ‘goodnight’ to which she mumbles a reply, too tired to register what just happened. She’ll have time to delve on it when she gets her strength back.

Hiccup leaves the protective circle made by Stormfly and walks towards the exit. He shares one last glance and sees the Nadder fully wrapping her wings around Astrid, hiding her from his view. The boy smiles as the dragon looks at him.

‘Take care of her’

She snorts.

‘Of course, I will.’ Stormfly’s head disappears behind her large wings and nuzzles her rider who smiles in her sleep.

I always loved the relationship that Astrid has with Stormfly, so I wanted to focus on it more. Because I’m still having a hard time understanding why in RTTE, Astrid is always falling off and her dragon suddenly goes MIA so often. I can write a whole essay about how RTTE did Astrid dirty, but I’m going to stop here.

This was supposed to be mostly about the duo and a side of Hiccstrid, but I’m a sucker for those two dorks, so Hiccup had a slightly bigger role than expected hehe.

Please tell me your thoughts. Constructive criticism is appreciated. Hopefully I didn’t make too many mistakes. English isn’t my mother tongue.

Dragon Rider Relationships #1

So, Imma create a different post for each relationship or group of relationships I can find in the shows that I enjoy, or the relationship between a dragon rider and a non dragon rider. These are not all romantic, few of them are, but rather show the family like dynamic between the How to Train Your Dragon and Race to The Edge characters.

Number 1: Fishlegs and the Thorsten twins

I just love the family like bond between these three, almost like a father/twin children relationship. If you haven’t noticed, during battle Fishlegs tends to look out for these two the most. In one Episode-I believe ‘Edge of Disaster’ though it might’ve been ‘Wings of War Part 1′-One of the dragon flyers are going after Ruffnut and Tuffnut who are going after two other dragon flyers riding two Singtails, one red and one green, just to help you remember the scene. After Snotlout gets one flyer off of Fishlegs’ back, Fishlegs immediately goes after the twins. When one of the flyers is about to shoot them from behind, Fishlegs suddenly looks very angry and stern-an expression you don’t see unless he’s fighting for Meatlug, captive dragons (When saving them from the arena in ‘Strike Out’ he’s very angry looking as he says “Dragon fighting, I’ll show you dragon fighting”), or in the episode ‘Thor Bonecrusher’ when he gains more confidence-and says in a protective tone of voice “Oh no you don’t” before protecting the twins and shooting the flyer. He gets easily angry with them a lot of the time, but it’s almost more like a father scolding two children than an enemy getting upset with an enemy, like when Hiccup gets upset with Snotlout for something he said out of term, he scolds them but doesn’t grow to dislike them.

Another thing I love, is Fishlegs actually trained Meatlug to specifically get the twins out of serious situations. In the end of the episode ‘Follow the Leader’, and a few other times in other episodes in later seasons of the series ‘Race to The Edge’, Fishlegs will point with his ax, sword, or hand and say “Meatlug, Twins!” and she knows exactly what to do. Some people might assume Meatlug just knows the riders and knows how to save people, but every time this ‘move’ happens, she grabs Ruff and Tuff the same way protectively in either of her claws, even if Fishlegs isn’t riding her, and will always do it the second he says to even if Fishlegs is fighting elsewhere. He has taught Meatlug to get Ruffnut and Tuffnut using a specific signal, “Meatlug, Twins!” Rather than saying “Meatlug, grab Ruffnut” or “Meatlug, get them out of there.” like he might to get her to grab one of the others. This is a specific signal, like Hiccup and Toothless with their mastered hand signals, because Fishlegs prioritizes the Thorsten twins’ safety who tend to forget how to keep themselves safe in dangerous situations, sometimes seemingly more than the others do, though Hiccup is definitely the second top protector of them in my opinion. Overall, I love the almost father/teenage-child relationship between these three.

They’re not on Berk anymore where the twins can get away with all of their pranks and adventuring wherever they want (when they decided to travel the obviously dangerous Whispering Death tunnels under Berk, or when they could all come and go from Berk whenever they pleased for training exercises, something they can’t do on Dragon’s Edge because someone has to be there to guard it) so Fishlegs knows Ruffnut and Tuffnut need some sort of an authoritative or parental figure, and he’s the best man for the job as he’s always been friends with them, knows how they work. He’s a very gentle person, unless you’re messing with his twins. Considering the way Ruff and Tuff speak of their family at times, it doesn’t seem like they really have a specific guardian figure, why as Fishlegs speaks of his mom, Astrid has parents around according to ‘A Team’ when their house was destroyed, we know Hiccup has Stoick, and Snotlout talks about both a mother and a father, but the twins only really speak of aunts, uncles, and others who were killed by some freak accident or battle-even saying in ‘A Gruff Situation’ “Most Thorstens don’t even live that long so if you MAKE IT to 19, it’s a pretty big deal”-or they use the phrase ‘used to tell us’ as in not around anymore. For all we know, Fishlegs and the others could be their only real close family, so for Fishlegs to take on this almost parental role could be a life saver in some future situation, and I LIVE for it.

HTTYD 3 AU (spoilers)

Can you just imagine (for the sake of curiosity) how it could have looked if Berkians stayed on the island and decided to defend it?

They know this piece of land like no one else. Instead of leaving it, they might have just as well relocated to the forests and started a viking adaptation of guerrilla war - which presents some pretty interesting scenes to watch, in my humble opinion.

Grimmel triumphantly arriving to the empty Great hall only to discover it has been infested with Terrible Terrors (insert bitten nose here)

Villagers setting camps in dense forest and thinking out the best way how to get rid of the army

Gobber and the rest of the band setting booby traps all around

Invaders getting caught in the traps

Terrible Terrors refusing to leave the Hall, Grimmel refusing to that either

Scouts returning to Grimmel baffled because they’ve got lost along the way and nobody, absolutely nobody knows where the damned Berkians are hiding

Eret leading ambush parties

Ruffnut and Tuffnut sending ammunition gift packages from the air straight on the heads of soldiers, or occasionally playing the role of ancient forest ghosts and driving them mad

Snotlout being the self-proclaimed captain of Berkian Armed Forces, shortcut BAF

Fishlegs being his chief strategist

Valka awakening old dragons sleeping deep, deep down in the forest and leading them to battle with perplexed invaders

“You know. It’s almost like the old times.”

Soldier: “Sir”

Grimmel: “What is it?”

Soldier *burning on multiple places, distant yelling in the back* “It happens we are kinda OUTNUMBERED”

*somewhere in distance, probably Tuffnut* “FOR STOIIIIICK!”

And while this happens, Hiccup and Astrid with Toothless and Stormfly might pursuit the mysterious white dragon, sometimes showing in the forest or on the beach and leading Toothless, eventually them all, to the Hidden world.

To where Grimmel may follow them, since he’s a very bored hunter getting tired of all the whining of Warlords. Eventually he would get to spend more time exploring forest on his own, and thus locating Hiccup and tail him afterwards.

Now, originally, according to some sources there was supposed to be Drago down in the Hidden world. While looking for Toothless, Hiccup and Astrid could spend a little bit more time in the caverns underneath the sea, being stunned by all the new discoveries and even finding out their former arch nemesis. And they could have some enlightening talk.

But remember, Grimmel is down here too. And he’s about to get some mess down.

-insert some magnificent chase throughout the caverns-

Grimmel and Drago could actually meet. Spill some trash talk to one another.

But finally, let’s say Grimmel manages to capture the Light Fury instead of Toothless, and then flies away. He knows well Toothless will come for her. And Hiccup, seeing his beloved friend being so downed by her loss, realises he might need to let him go.

-cut to the shores of Berk, Astrid and Hiccup returning on their dragons-

-Grimmel having his talk about how he will kill the Light Fury if Toothless won’t give himself in-

-The entire BAF arrived, but they are helpless now-

-Toothless will of course give himself in-

And the whole situation looks really bad.

At least to a time when Drago emerges from the sea on his one-tusked Bewilderbeast from the second movie. “SURPRISE. YOU THOUGHT YOU HAVE SEEN THE LAST OF ME?”

-impressive battle-

-chase from the final of the original movie-

-End.

But with the exception of that we are still on Berk. And Drago may and may not die during the battle in a form of redemption. People are slowly rebuilding the devastated village to its original look, with knowing there will be no more dragons roaming around. The woods are empty. The Academy has no more purpose. We could get Hiccup in the Cove without Toothless, sitting, remembering.

New Berk without dragons is sad, but I felt like there was literally nothing left of the preceding movies. Like this, we have old Berk with its nearly original look - we’re back at the beginning. But this time no Monstrous Nightmare will burn the doors of Hiccup’s house.

Hiccup knows this, but at least he tells his children the stories. And he watches the skies. Since one day, they are bound to return.

It Has Always Been You. (Hiccup x Reader)

Another day for another fanfic, this time, it’s our beloved viking. I hope you guys liked the previous one, honestly though, I had trouble with the Modern AU. I had certain ideas I wanted to put in the story but was all in mush during the time I made that. But I’m still on the process of improving my skills. Well, let’s get a move on shall we?

Ever since the dragons left, lives of the people in Berk have become rather, boring. I’m not saying there’s not enough activities, but having to be dependent to our own set of skills was a whole new level of boring to do without a companion around you. Astrid has helped quite a lot by training younger vikings in combat. The twins are still doing what they do best, be a pain to everyone. But that’s what makes everyday a little less boring I guess. Snotlout has been rather odd, well, if you count being mature for his personality, then I guess that’s the odd thing that had change. And fishlegs, has been helping out a lot in gathering materials as well as fixing houses along with Hiccup. Now that dragons no longer can help us, I became part of dealing with farming, fishing, and livestock. I guess you can say, I became the head of the agriculture of Berk.

“You! I told you to seperate the Tuna, Halibut, and the Trout!” I shouted, clearly irritated to the young man who seemed to have forgotten the task I told him dozens of times. “Sorry (y/n)! I’ll get to it right away.” I glared at him before turning around to help out in reeling the other captured goods. “That’s all we’ve caught for now (y/n). Think this will be enough for the upcoming winter?” “Of course bucket, mind you, we’ve been fishing non-stop. We have enough to last till the end of winter. Thank you very much for your work everyone!” I said, and all of them cheered with glee. “Just seperate the Tuna, Halibut, and the Trout, then bring them to the cellar at the great hall. Oh and tell the others to bring some block of ice, It’ll be needed to preserve the fishes.” I said and left in a hurry to check up on the farm. Because of my rather somewhat clumsiness, I bumped into someone with a great impact, causing me topple over. Taking the sudden impact of my bum to the ground, I quickly got up and dusted myself. “I’m very s-- Hiccup!” I said, a little pitchy rather than normal. “Oh, (y/n)! I’m so sorry I wasn’t looking at all, I was--” “It’s okay Hiccup, we both are at fault for not being careful.” I said, smiling at him as I reach out to help him up which he thank me for.

“So what’s the rush chief?” “I was actually looking for you, there’s a problem with Sven and the sheep.” he said, we both got running to Sven’s place and there, revealed the sheeps scattered all around, not a single one in the sheep pen. “Sven, what happened” Why are the sheep out of the pen?” “ Well (y/n) I believe the twins did this.” “Well, I’m sure the twins will glad to help out if they ever did this.” I said, and at that exact moment, Ruffnut and Tuffnut was sneaking away. “Ruff and Tuff, come here this instant!” I shouted, the two then stopped midway and twirled around to look at me. “Mind explaining?” “Hiccup, my chum! You see, we wanted to uh...” Tuffnut contemplated for a while before giving up. “We wanted to get one sheep so that we could play with it around that’s all.” Ruffnut stated, nudging his brother for approval. The other twin nodded, but it seemed a little off with the excuse.”Whatever reason it is, I hope you guys are done with it. Now, help us get them back to the pen before I throw you off the island myself.” “Yes Mrs. Chief!” I blush at the nickname but shrugged it off before anyone could see. The twins saluted and went off picking up sheeps, one by one. “Thanks a lot (y/n).” “No problem Sven, best be getting them inside the pen before sunset.” “Mind if I help you out?” Hiccup said, looking at me sternly, “Aren’t you busy with the houses?” “Oh, Fishlegs and Snotlout are tending to it now.” I looked at him strangely before nodding.

It took a while before every sheep was put in the pen. “Perfect timing, the sun has set.” “Thanks again (y/n) and chief.” “No problem Sven! See you tomorrow.” I said, and went off to the Great Hall. Hiccup was beside me, clearly wanting to say something. “(Y/n), can we talk l--” “Hiccup!” I turn around to see Astrid coming right at us, I had the sudden urge to run from what was about to happen. And so I did, “Maybe next time Hiccup.” I said, putting on a fake smile, and left him before Astrid could come near. I entered the Great Hall inhaling deeper before and puff it out quickly.I started to walk towards Eret, holding an empty plate. “Today’s menu is lamb chop and some carrot soup.” He said, putting it on my plate along with the bowl of soup. “Thanks Eret.” I said, as I sat down in front of him. “You okay? You seem worn off.” “Just did a lot of work that’s all. Winter is about to come soon, so tending to everything is a bit hard but not a problem to accomplish.” I said, munching on the lamb chop. “No, I don’t think that’s the problem. And you know what I mean, (y/n).” He said, raising his eyebrow at me. “Am I that easy to read?” I said, letting out a chuckle which he followed through. “No, but I’ve known you for long to see how you lie.” “Fine, I was with Hiccup a while ago, and he wanted to say something but Astrid popped out and called him. I didn’t want to intrude.” I said, picking up the spoon to sip some of the soup.

He looked at me with does sad eyes of his. “I told you not to look at me like that.” I said, pointing the spoon at him. He just laughed at my antics before taking a bite to his food. “You my friend, are head over heels with him and yet you’ve never told him about it.” “And why should I? It’s not like he has the same feelings towards me.” I told him, looking around if there’s anyone who’s listening. “(Y/n), you are stupid enough not to see it.” “See what exactly?” “You’ll find out soon.” He told me and before I knew it, he got up and left but only to be accompanied by someone who sat beside me. “Mind if I join you?” “Sure, Hiccup.” I said, giving him some space to sit. The air between us was awkward enough, enough to suffocate someone. But I stayed quiet for a while, I could feel him boring a whole at how he’s looking at me. “Is there something wrong?” I asked, looking up to him. “I wanted to talk to you, but you went running away. Why is that?” “Well you see I was really hungry.” I said, giving a timid laugh, a fake one he surely knows. “You’re lying.” He said, I looked up at him, his eyes scanning my face. “Listen Hiccup, I’m really tired. Let’s talk tomorrow okay?” I said, and left the half finished food and went walking out of the Great Hall to my place.

“(Y/n) wait up!” Hiccup shouted, but I didn’t look back, before I could even reach my home, I was dragged into the woods. “Hiccup, let me go!” I shouted, trying to wiggle out of his grasp. When we got deeper in the woods, he let my hand go and looked at me. His eyes, damn it his eyes piercing through mine. “Please, (y/n) let me talk to you. Just this once.” He plead, he waited for a reply, but silence means something. “Astrid and I are over. Ever since Toothless left, I began to drift away from her. It wasn’t only me who felt it, but also her. We knew it wasn’t the same before.” “Look Hiccup, I think you’re just--” “No I’m not wrong! I know my own feelings (y/n), damn it!” He shouted, causing me to clam up. “You clearly haven’t seen me look at you. You’ve always been special to me, always has been.” He said, stepping forward little by little, whilst I step back. “The day you came back from your voyage with your father was the day I can never forget. You had this sullen eyes that I’ve never seen before. I knew why you’ve never been the same. And I wanted to be there for you, the way you’ve been there for me when no one believed in me.” I finally bumped into a tree, nowhere else to escape.

So I looked down at my feet, not wanting to look at him. Because I knew, the moment that I’ll look at him, I’ll jump into his arms. “(Y/n), it has always been you. And I’ve been so blinded by what I wanted rather than what I already had. You’ve been with me for longer than Astrid, and I didn’t even think about it. When you started to leave from voyages after another, I... I thought that I had lost you.” He said, his voice cracking at the making. I looked up and their I saw Hiccup, tears rolling down his cheeks. “It took me months to track you down. And when I saw your boat coming nearer to the dock. I felt relieved, that you were okay.” He got my hand and twirled it his. “When I saw you wounded, I felt terrible, I felt anger to myself, and I felt hatred to my own cowardness. All I wanted was to be with you (y/n).” He cupped my cheek with his other hand, and I’ve waited for so long to this kind of warmth. “I love you (y/n), I’ve always had. And I don’t want to let you go. Not this time.” Without another word from him, he leaned down to kiss me. It wasn’t what I dreamed of, but it was something I can never imagine to happen. I kissed back and it became a heated make-out session. After a few minutes, we parted to take a breather. He puts his forehead against mine, eyes shut close.

“Will you stay by me, this time?” He asked under his breath. I opened my eyes, he now leaned back, looking at me. Examining every detail of my face. I let out a small laugh before my eyes got watery. “Of course, why shouldn’t I be?” I said, and hugged him tightly. This was what I’ve waited for so long, and I’ve finally have it. I finally have him. He suddenly twirled me around, laughing. His laugh that I so missed. “Thank you, and I promise you. That I’ll never, ever let you go.” He said, before giving me another kiss. “I’ll take that word, Haddock.” I said, smiling at him. “Now, if you would please, let’s leave the woods before anybody could--” I stopped on my track to find Eret, looking all smug. “Have you been there all along?!” “I told you he’d tell you soon.” Eret said, but was now running away as I ran to catch up to him. “I swear Eret, when I catch you I’ll feed you to the shark!” I shouted, red as a tomato I might say.
